CHAPTER I: THE DREAM, THE GIRL, AND THE BUNNY
Episode 2: Inquiries If Katherine, just a regular foreign student in Japan, would have been told yesterday in the afternoon that just 24 hours later she would be walking around North Shibuya looking for a well-known programming company to try to discover what this odd-looking device that appeared over her nightstand after she had the weirdest dream ever about a death experience in a tower in the middle of the night in front of a gigantic creature, she probably would have said it was impossible. Katherine wasn't the type of girl to do something about stuff that bothered her, and probably was used to letting things be, most of the times. Nevertheless, curiosity was the one thing that usually could get the best of her, and that was the only thing that brought her to that exact moment. She kept walking as fast as she could, trying to make her way between people coming back and forth, it was rush hour, with everybody coming out from work, plus it was a Friday, so there were people going into bars and restaurants all over town. The sun was hitting her pale face, as she kept looking at her phone to make sure she was going the right way. She just had to take a right at the end of this street, walk half a block and she would be there. Taking a quick glance at the time, without taking her eyes completely off her location to make sure she wouldn't get lost, she noticed it was almost 5 pm. She started walking faster, knowing she had to hurry to see if she could still find anyone in there who could help her with her inquiries. Katherine was pretty aware of her obsessive curiosity and her constant desire to know stuff, so she was pretty sure that if she had to go to bed tonight without making a single progress about this whole situation, she would feel so frustrated that probably wouldn't be able to sleep. The scent of ramen coming from down the street got to her, she turned to discover a ramen street restaurant she was passing by. "Hey! watch out" somebody said as she bumped into them. "S-Sorry!" she said. "Come on, Katherine, keep focused!" she thought to herself, turning back to her phone, but she didn't need to. She was there. The gigantic silver building with the words "Overlord" over the front door was just in front of her. The doors seemed to be opened, but this didn't mean they were still under working hours. Katherine went in, discovering a large and pretty illuminated hall. She froze, as she looked at the front desk. "What was she supposed to say?"
"Okay Katherine... now what?". She thought.

To be honest, Talia envied those nine to five office workers who's job allowed them to leave at 5:00 on the dot. Unfortunately a programmers job was too detailed and deadlined filled for that. "Can we change back nowwww Talia?" A fuzzy fox and rabbit peeked out from under her desk, glancing back and forth at empty cubicles which signaled the end of the day. "Not yet! There's a few straddlers but I'm going to get some snacks for us, you can switch when I come back alright?" Grabbing her wallet and staff pass she took the elevator to the first floor, at first hardly noticing the stranger standing in the lobby but the confused, slightly disheveled expression on her face was eye catching. "Can I help you with something?" Didn't these kids know better than to drop off a resume right at closing time? Then again she looked a bit young to be interested in a job here. "Most of management is gone for the day, but I work on the design floor if you need something."
Normally Talia wasn't so inquisitive with strangers, but it was so rare they got traffic in this office that the blonde had a gut feeling there was something important about to happen. Meanwhile, the twins, bored, had wandered out and were currently exploring the floor - they weren't really supposed to wander off but uhh...curiosity got the best of them? As they snuck around, a large intimidating metal door with buttons caught their attention. "Hey! This is that door with the magic buttons that takes you to different places, what do you think will happen if press all of them at once Tohru?" Yep, too curious for sure. "Hmmm, lets find out!" The rabbit climbed on top of the top of the foxes head, climbing up pushing the fox down a bit. "Wait I wanna press some too, ow!" Tohru wobbled attempting to stay afoot. "You're too lanky to be the button pusher." That made Simba pout a bit, though his attention was quickly recaptured by the lit up buttons the rabbit pushed. "Push all of them!" "I can't reach all of them dodo!"

O v e r l o r d E n t e r p r i s e s Katherine kept looking around the gigantic lobby. It had very good lighting and it was extremely clean, like pretty much every place in Japan, so it was pretty much expected for the lobby of such an important company to be clean and well decorated. The place had paintings all over the walls and a beautiful fountain right in the middle. Even though this wasn't at all the type of job Katherine had in mind for her future, she definitely would like to work in such a beautiful place. If only it were clothes-designed oriented. Katherine was pretty good at maths, and she did study some programming earlier this year, but it definitely wasn't like she felt fit for engineering or programming jobs. Katherine snapped out of her own thoughts when she heard a soft, delicate voice. A white, blonde, beautiful lady was speaking to her in Japanese with a soft accent, asking her what she needed. -"Oh... H-Hi!" Katherine panicked a bit, as usually when somebody found her lost in that odd place she usually went when she started thinking about whatever. The dark haired girl remained silent, she didn't know where to start. Luckily, the blonde girl broke the awkward silence. This couldn't be better for Katherine: The girl worked in the design department! It was now or never. If some nonsense like fate did exist, this had to be it. Without hesitating and knowing she couldn't miss the chance, she let a sigh go, looking for the right words. -I-I'm sorry to bother, miss, I know it is a bit late. I just...-She paused. Nope, right words not found. Speaking about the dream and how this thing magically appeared over her night stand had no importance at the moment, it wouldn't be at all useful and would only seem more confusing to that kind lady. So straight to the point it was. -I was wondering... -Katherine slid her bag in front of her, searching for the weird gadget. -Is this a device made by this company? -She asked, taking it out of the bag and showing it to her. It was still turned off, with no kind of response whatsoever.

Talia quickly recognized the gadget as a digivice but her face said otherwise, the woman attempting to hide her surprise, wondering in her head how to respond without giving away that she knew what it was. "It's not but I recognize the manufacturer, might I ask where you got this?" It was more so a question out of pure curiosity for the woman's research notes. "Better yet, would you be alright with going up to my office? It'd be easier to speak there." She glanced over at the ear phone wearing lobby receptionist, who appeared to be typing out emails on a computer but in actuality was watching some youtube video of a golden retriever paddle boarding that she closed if a higher up walked by. Poor bored girl, this building didn't get a ton of foot traffic outside of the regular company employees. Still, this was too public of a place to discuss things like digimon. Crap, speaking of digimon, the twins had been promised snacks. "Actually, I need to run to the convenience store across the street first but you're welcome to join me."
Meanwhile, a certain pair had finally managed to press the elevator buttons and were ooohin and ahhing at the miniature light show before the giant steel door opened up. "Won't Talia will be upset at us?" Surprisingly it was Simba this time trying to be the voice of reason, nine times out of ten he was the one ready for an adventure while Tohru played cop. "Nah, we'll be back before she comes back!" Practical or not, the hare was as curious as her brother about these things. "Good, I wouldn't want to miss out on the snacks!" Although he had to admit, that opening door looked a bit scary - what if it closed and squished them? "Hurry Simba, its closing!" Upon jumping in, the fox was mind-blown to see the door open again and shut when he stepped out of its way. "Oooh, its like an anti squish door!" Had his sister not yanked him inside the shaft by the tail, that would have been a game on its own for the digimon. "Where are we going anyway?" "I dunno, its a magic portal door remember?"

Her father, who was an amazing tailor, a complete clothes designing expert and a marvelous fashion judge, was definitely not a good fisherman. Once, he took Katherine fishing to 'Rio de la Plata' an huge river between Argentina and Uruguay's borders. After over half an hour of waiting, he finally hooked a huge fish, who drove him into the water as soon as he tried to reel him in. When he came out, he tried to be the cool dad and act like it was all under control. 'Once you get that fish hooked, never let it go, it doesn't matter where it drives you', he said, standing proud and completely soaked. Probably he didn't have any idea of what he was saying, and was just trying to say something cool so Katherine could ignore he had just been owned by a fish, but in this particular scenario, Katherine had the fish hooked, and she wouldn't let it go.
The manufacturer? so this was some kind of toy then? maybe made by another company. Then why couldn't she find it on the internet? -I... found it at home, I didn't even know I had it. -Katherine replied. It wasn't the whole truth, but wasn't a lie either. She definitely was not telling this girl it magically appeared out of nowhere over her night stand in the middle of the night. The girl suggested they went to her office, but then changed her mind and asked her to accompany her to the grocery store that was across the street. "Wherever you want, mysterious girl, as long as you give me a lead", she thought.
-S-Sure! Please lead the way. -Katherine said as she started walking behind the lady. She looked like a very strong person, like she knew what she was doing. Then again, people from her classroom used to say Katherine looked like that herself, and she felt like she had no clue of what she was doing most of the time, this whole situation was the perfect example. As the two girls went out the building and started crossing the street Katherine walked a little faster to get closer to the lady. She had a dead serious expression on her face. What was going on? why couldn't she tell her who was the manufacturer right away?
-E-Excuse me, lady... Ehmm... By the way... My name is Katherine, Katherine Jasso. -Maybe some introducing to break the ice? she thought, as they entered the grocery store. Immediately, Katherine remembered how hungry she was, sadly, she had left most of her money back home, so she couldn't even afford a chocolate right now. She should have eaten that ramen, but then, maybe she wouldn't have caught this lady on time before she left. She sighed, with a disheveled look on her face. -Miss, may I ask... why didn't I find the name of this manufacturer on the internet? I didn't see any device like this, even after browsing from multiple websites, is it so rare? -Every passing second, the thought that something very odd was going on continued to growth on Katherine's mind.

"I see, interesting." was Talia's response before they went to the store, the blonde picking up a basket inside from a stack by the door, filling it with candies and chips and packages of microwaveable ramen and udon noodles. "This is just my stash for what I keep near my desk on hand when I'm super busy, I'm promise I'm not some kind of weird hoarder or junk food addict - Katherine did you say it was? I'm Talia nice to meet you!" If it appeared like the woman was in a hurry it was because she was trying to hurry back before the twins had time to find trouble, little did she know it was a bit too late for that.
The last question stumped her a bit as she tried to think of a quick, logical answer in between her train of babbling. "Hmmm, company went out of business, some limited edition thing from a con, a beta test for a cancelled launch, could be any reason really." She read the frazzled girl's face when they made eye contact, and was somehow reminded of herself when she'd first arrived here to study abroad. "By the way if you want anything just put it in the cart, its on the department credit card."
Meanwhile, the trouble two found themselves headed deep down the elevator, waiting to see where it let them off. "This is taking foreverrrr and I'm bored and hungry, can we go back now?" Ugh, did her brother not get the concept of a magic door? "Be patient!" Simba was too starving to care now about where this so called portal brought them to, unless it was to a kitchen full of ice cream maybe, oooh how he loved sweet ice cream, especially the mint chocolate chip kind! And while he fantasized about ice cream, the door finally opened.
Welp, neither one of them had expected this - the area they elevator let them out in was dark and dingy with lots of intimidating looking pipes and machines making odd noises. "I-I don't think we should be here Tohru, what if there’s monsters?!” To a human, it would have been a regular old boiler room, but to two small foreigners of this world, the place looked like some kind of house of horrors. “Aww don’t be a baby, c’mon let’s look around! Ugh, something smells really bad in here...” Simba smelled it too, holding a claw over his nose. It was like a burning rubber sulfate-ish smell, one sort of familiar to both twins but neither able to directly pinpoint it. That was, until pink piles of the undesirable came flinging at them out of nowhere followed by a bug eyed repulsive shelless slug like beast, screeching at them with an ‘eyeeyeeyee!’ sound while sticking out its tongue, making the twins scream. “NUMEMON!!!”
They ran back to the elevator as quick as they could with the slug following after them. “Don’t run little digimon, I just want to play, we can play all day!” Luckily the twins were prone to picking up on things fast enough they knew which elevator button was the force door shut, the door closing just before the stinky slug could climb inside with them, the twins high fiving after catching their breath, and practically letting go of their breath when they made it back to Talia’s desk just before she arrived back.
“I hope you don’t mind pets!” The blonde said to the girl right before they got to their floor stop. “I have a pet fox and rabbit who hang out here with me, they-” The way they were sitting with smiles looked way too suspicious, but since there was a guest and they seemed to both be in one piece she let it slide for now. "...like snacks, lets just say."

How much could a girl eat? The amount of chips, candies and sweets Talia was taking could keep Katherine fed up for a week. When she explained it was kind of a stash, it made more sense, but still seemed like a lot for her. Katherine sighed at the sight of the microwaveable ramen, as she remembered the one she was just about to make at home before suddenly leaving. Still, even if she was hungry, she couldn't accept to put anything into that basket, so she kindly declined the offer. The lady finally introduced herself as they walked through the aisle, her name was Talia, the fact that she didn't tell Katherine her last name, definitely gave away she wasn't from Japan, even though she kind of knew that already because of her accent. She was around Katherine's height, but she seemed to be around her twenties, she had beautiful long, blonde hair and green eyes. Katherine was dying to design clothes for her, even though, 'Can you be my model so I make some clothes for you?' definitely seemed like a bit of a stretch given the whole situation that brought her there.
Talia gave a brief explanation about the possible reasons that device wasn't on the internet, she took her time to respond though, so that feeling about how something was off, continued growing inside of Katherine. If this girl wanted her to go to the office with her it was because there was more, if not, she would have sent her home with the info she just gave to her. 6pm started drawing closer. Her mom could be worried if she spent much more time outside, but she needed to get to the bottom of this. She felt like she was so close.
Overlord Enterprises: Talia's office The girls crossed the street again, and before Katherine knew, they were back into the building and going into Talia's office. She introduced Katherine to her pets, a beautiful brown little rabbit and a little gray fox. They both seemed very friendly. Katherine had always liked pets, but was never able to have one cause her family was always constantly moving, nevertheless, cute stuff were one of her weaknesses. That little bunny was adorable, she couldn't help to immediately crouch and start petting it, letting go a little squeal and saying some words that were actually far from understandable, she was just completely tenderized by the pair. She lifted the little bunny and started hugging it [/font] -You're so cute I could eat you! Yes you are! yes you are! ye- Katherine stopped, realizing she was there because Talia had something to tell her, or so she guessed. -I... I'm sorry -She said, clearing her throat and placing the little rabbit back into the floor, patting a little the fox's head in the process. Looking completely blushed for having just acted like an eight-year old, she took a seat in front of the desk and remained silent. Then, she frowned.
-Talia... this device... -Katherine took some breath. Enough was enough, if she was going to be expelled from Overlord Enterprises for being a crazy person, so be it, she had the feeling she could trust Talia, she had the feeling she had much more information of what she was telling her, and everything up to that moment pointed like she did, so the girl probably was expecting Katherine to give her something else, but couldn't really ask for it directly, so if she wanted Talia to tell her the whole truth, she should start herself. -It just appeared on my night stand, last night. I found it this morning. I know you'll think this is stupid, but I think it might be related with a very strange dream I had, there was a tower, a giant creature and...-As she spoke, Katherine had decided to take the gadget out of her backpack again, as she looked for it, she could hear some buzzing, like something vibrating, even though, at first, this didn't draw her attention, it wasn't until she realized that her phone was over the desk that the whole scenario changed. Katherine started looking faster confirming her thoughts as she found it: The device was trilling, it was vibrating, not like a phone, between short spaces of time, it was non-stop trilling, that only got stronger when she took it out of the bag.
-This is the first time it does something since this morning. -Katherine said, as she drew it closer to Talia so she could see it. Then, the trilling got stronger, was this sudden activation of this device because of Talia? what was going on? She got scared, and pulled it back to her, the trilling, even though still very notable, got weaker. -Talia... is this... trilling because of you?- She asked.

“Eeep! Eat?” The rabbit tightly held in the urge to squeak very in a very un-rabbit like manner but did wiggle a bit as if silently begging the human not to cook her - she knew from the television and movies that a lot of western human cultures ate rabbit as a regular meal. “This little human wouldn’t dare, besides I’ll just freeze her if she tries, yeah! Eh eh, wait I’m not supposed to do that right? We’re not supposed to disturb the human balance - I’ll just bite her, perfect. Rabbits bite right?”
The television had also taught her that were rabbits were portrayed often in fiction as cute and cuddly critters prone to stealing from the private vegetable gardens of humans, but in reality they made rather unpleasant human pets due to their anti social nature as well holding a tendency to be dirty, often carrying an unpleasant smell and defecating on just about anything. Unfortunately, the one thing TV and movies had not taught them was that it was common for humans use to non-literal phrases to express things.
“Doesn’t surprise me one bit.” This kid was clearly clever, it made sense why whoever it was that matched digimon seemingly picked her to be a tamer despite her being a bit younger. “Remember I mentioned how I recognized the manufacturer of these? If I said that said maker wasn’t of this world, would you believe me or think me to be totally crazy?”
The blonde sat in her desk chair, bending back lazily a bit. It was a standard clean desk space, complete with computer and office supplies, much of it being decorated with expensive figures and pop culture props that the girl had probably paid way too much for. On a busy week the space could be littered with empty cups and snack wrappers but Tohru made sure the woman’s desk was clean and often lectured her about being a slob. “Don’t worry, it’s not aliens...ish.” The message ding from her computer pinged, indicating a client had sent a request which the blonde made a note to look at a bit later. Had to fund that figure collection somehow right? “Nah trust me, we don’t judge here at Overlord, our director wears a mask because she’s shy.”
The blonde pointed downwards to the two animals digging around inside the bag of snacks. “Not exactly me but, you’re close.” Picking up a key, she opened a small drawer containing what she considered classified information - names and records of hacking clients, drafts of codes for games in development, etc; basically nothing she’d want stolen should a burglar, spy from a competitor company, or crazy fan come in here snooping. Inside was also a device which looked extremely similar to Katherine save for that it was white with a red bar on the site. “Would you look at that, we almost match!”

The fact that Talia reacted very naturally to the half-story Katherine told her about the gadget only strengthen the thought that Talia was very much aware of what was going on, or at least possessed an important amount of information the girl didn't. The blonde started by asking Katherine if it was concealable to her that this device wasn't even manufactured in their world, Katherine's eyes widened. What was she talking about? could she be joking? she didn't seem like the kind of person who would do that in this particular situation, plus, her expression was cold, like she was dead serious. The device on Katherine's hand kept trilling, like it was waiting for Katherine to discover something, like there was something in that room that Katherine needed to see.
-What do you mean, "not from this world"? -Katherine asked. -To be fair, I don't think you would have any reason to lie to me. I don't know exactly what you mean, but I'm prepared to hear the truth. -She added. If she had decided to stay here and to keep going until finding out the truth, the less she could do was to listen to what Talia had to say.
As Talia pulled out from a drawer another device with the same shape, buttons and size than the one that Katherine was holding, her eyes widened even more, if that was possible. Talia had one too!? what were the odds? and how did she get it?Without even noticing, a soft smirk took form in Katherine's face. She couldn't avoid it, somewhat, she felt happy. Getting closer to the truth and clearing out doubts was something that gave her some sort of pleasure that she just couldn't explain. She was scared, terrified, but also very excited, cause now she knew for sure that she was heading to the bottom of the matter, that she was at the right place, at the right time, and all of this situation was about to be explained. She was mentally prepared for anything, after the events that lead to that moment, she knew that it wouldn't be a natural explanation, so she had to be ready for whatever information that could defy the knowledge she had about reality, she needed to be prepared for questioning any belief she had about what was or was not true.
-Another one. How come you have one too!? And why is mine trilling? -Talia pointed at her pets, who were completely engulfing the content of the bag of snacks she had just bought, which, even though it wasn't even close to the most important mystery of that day, it explained why Talia had to buy a Katherine's whole allowance worth of snacks: she had two very hungry pets. Was it safe to feed a rabbit and a fox with snacks, sweets and such? Katherine didn't let herself ramble to much about this, and almost instinctively following Talia's finger, stood up and drew her device closer to the critters. The gadget started trilling like crazy, even more than before. At this point, Katherine was starting to question everything, there were stuff that didn't seem normal now that she didn't notice before. How normal was for a girl to have a fox pet inside of her office eating snacks? Like a lighting, a memory came back to her: this trilling, she had felt that in her hand before, with that kind of strength, making that exact same vibration sound. A flashback showcased inside her brain: for a second, she went back inside her head to that dream, in front of the gigantic beast, on top of the crumbling tower, the sight of her hand covered in blood made her suppress the trilling that she could feel, along with the pain. But now she remembered, under all of that blood, there was that exact same device, with a broken screen, and she was holding it in her hand, just like right now, except this time, it wasn't shattered at all. Still in some kind of shock, just looking at the fox and the rabbit eat their snacks with her eyes wide open, Katherine just asked, without even looking at the girl:
"Talia... what's going on?"

“I mean as in, if you really want answers, you’re gonna have to think outside the box a little bit.” The blonde was trying to explain the situation to the girl little by little as opposed to bombarding her with dumps of information so her head wouldn’t spin and so she wouldn’t get confused, misunderstand and run away with the idea that Talia was some kind of psycho. “Before I proceed, let me ask you this, do you believe in the idea that other worlds exist outside of this one?” Well technically the digital world was a connective plane of earth, but keeping her phrasing simple was important right now. “If not, you may wanna start.”
She debated how to answer Katherine’s question clearly without using confusing terms, placing a finger on her chin, her face scrunched up. “Long story, but let’s just say it began with a pair of lost critters that had no one but one another.” She debated deactivating the twin’s holosuits, but figured it would be too much of a shock right now in addition to all this other information. “By any chance, did that device come with say, a pet? An animal? Stuffed doll? Weird looking egg?”
In Talia’s own experience the trend seemed to be that if a digivice appeared, it meant that the the digimon partner wasn’t too far away - that gave her an idea though for the future - since digimon were made of data, there was no reason they couldn’t be tracked online right? Granted that could prove difficult since their core makeup was probably complex and varied next to your standard manmade software, making things difficult to melt but it was definitely something to consider, it could be something as simple as a tool that plugged a digivice into a tracker, being those gadgets seemed extremely connected to the digimon partner.

"Thinking outside the box". Whatever was coming, wouldn't be easy to believe or understand, Katherine knew this. She kept looking at the twins eat their snacks, while her gadget kept shaking in her hand like crazy. She slowly kneelded to look closely at them, trying not to scare them off. They seemed to be distracted enough with their food.
-Other worlds... -Katherine tilted her head at the blonde's premise. -I believe I can see that as something plausible. After all, I do believe this is only one possible world out of all possible worlds that could exist or could have existed, and that many other forms of life are very likely to exist, even in this world or another. I have always considered it's ridiculous to think that the ones from this world are the only forms of living beings in the whole universe. -This was definitely not the kind of comments Katherine could make in class or around her high school friends, they would look at her like she was some kind of crazy person. Nevertheless, there she was, saying all of those things in front of a girl she had just met.
When she talked about those two critters, did she mean these two very odd pets? They had to be related to whatever was going on here, Katherine kept looking at them as she and Talia spoke, but listening closely to what Talia had to say, trying not to bee too distracted studying her pets behavior. These pets relation to the gadget was only confirmed by Talia's next comment. But definitely there was no pet or egg at Katherine's home this morning. She tried to look in her head for any kind of connection but the only 'creature' she could think of that could be in any way related to that device was...
-A giant monster! -She exclaimed- On the dream I had, just last night, before this appeared on my night stand. It felt so real, so vivid... -Nobody could make Katherine believe that dream wasn't at all related to that device appearance. -There was also a person, with a hat. He was... he was saying something. -What was going on? Was Katherine starting to forget the unforgettable dream? No. There was just too much going on in her head. The device kept trilling, now Katherine just wanted it to stop, she needed a minute to think. She couldn't forget that dream, it was important, she needed to get to the bottom of the matter. -Stop already! -Katherine said, holding the gadget with both hands, almost talking to it and closing her eyes. She opened her eyes again, but this time, with a look of complete stunning. The device had stopped. There was no trilling, no vibration. Katherine looked at Talia, and then back at the device, she pressed the 'up' arrow, just to try something. Near the center of the screen, two yellow dots appeared, they were next to one another and were flickering continuously. Was this some kind of radar? what did these flickering dots represent? She and Talia? no, Talia wasn't that close to her. Plus, the dots were at the center of the screen, slightly to the right. If the center was that device position... Katherine turned to her right. The fox and the rabbit were almost done with their snacks, still standing there.
-Talia... what are these creatures? They are no regular pets, ri-? -Katherine was interrupted by the vibration on her hand. It was back. She looked at the screen to find out three more dots had appeared, they looked like a little herd, traveling together and going up the screen at high speed. Using it as a radar, Katherine's instinct told her to look at her left, just behind Talia, a huge window let all of Shibuya landscaping to be seen. Before Katherine even having time to admire this view, three dark figures passed very quickly through her gaze, from the other side of the window. Looking back at the device, she could see how they were moving up, over the center of the screen. What were these? three more creatures? Were them able to fly? if so, they seemed to be going as high as they could. Again, acting out of pure instinct and adrenaline, Katherine stood up and ran out of the office, straight to the elevator. Truth wasn't going to escape, not today.

“Interesting, I like the answer, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t expecting a more...tunnel vision sounding one? It’s not you, its just know, as kids we’re taught that real life is real life and fantasy is fantasy, and that there’s absolutely no in between.” They were meant to believe that things like separate worlds didn’t exist and so weren’t important to focus on. “And while I don’t exactly believe you can walk through a magical closet where a goat man in a red scarf will greet you, I think subverse travel is definitely scientifically possible.” Actually, she knew so but wasn’t quite ready to reveal it just yet. “Oooh, was he cute? They say dreams are partially formed by your subconscious, whatever that means I guess. Makes me wonder if other people can really visit another person’s dreams.”
Now that had to be a bit more complicated than hopping through multiple verses - how in the world could you get into someone’s mind? Through a close bond maybe? They did say couples and best friends started to look and act alike after a while, definitely an interesting question for a psychologist. “Forgive me if this sounds nosy, but any idea what he was saying?” Dream sequences tended to be kind of personal, really really personal in fact if you had those kinds of subconscious feelings. “Those little things tend to have a mind of their own, I even tried taking mine apart and you’d think it was made of adamantium or something - I even took it to a parts shop and he couldn’t do it either.” At least she’d gotten a friend out of that experience? “What I will say though is that getting one is a sign you’re part of an awesome group of people!” Well mostly awesome, Talia hadn’t met any so far who were mean but she was sure they existed out there as with any group - but why hadn’t her partner come with the digivice? “And you’re sure there wasn’t anything that came with this? No egg?”
While slurping on some noodles, Tohru looked up at the two humans, debating if she should answer for Talia (as she did most often). “Don’t you think she gets the picture?” Unless one was looking right at the twins at that moment, that childlike voice coming from the hare would have seemed to come out of nowhere - that was, until the rabbit stood unnaturally human like on its hind legs as if some sort of CGI animation, waving at the younger girl. “My name’s Tohru and I’m a digimon, and this is my brother Simba.” Hearing his name, the fox stopped his eating to join his sister, his bushy tail swishing around as he went to nuzzle against Katherine’s hand. “Don’t scare her, sis! Don’t forget, animals don’t talk in the human world.” “Then how come they do in so many movies?!”
Hmm, or maybe humans just didn’t have the brain capacity to understand them - most of the movies she’d seen with animals talking were silly and geared toward entertaining young children except for one they’d recently seen called The Animals of Farthing Wood, which featured a group of wild animals looking for a new home after humans destroyed their old one and portrayed many of the characters dying on the journey thanks to mostly manmade things like cars and guns; a lot of what the twins knew about human culture was from watching movies, and the Animals of Farthing Wood seemed to represent the darker side of humans, but they knew not all of them were so careless. Talia meanwhile, was facepalming from the two of them revealing themselves. “And you’re talking too, Simba. But no, these aren’t regular pets, they’re what you’d call..otherworldly companions.”
The presence of the Tsukaimon made Talia’s digivice trill as well, the blonde getting briefly distracted by the deviation so that she saw Katherine bolting when it was too late - didn’t stop her from going after the younger girl though. “Hey come back! You can’t just approach strange digimo- I mean wild animals! Come on.” The twins followed behind. “We have to hurry, Tsukaimon aren’t nice digimon!”

As she could feel the device thrilling in her right hand, Katherine continued running up the stairs, the way she had to take after realizing there was no time to wait for the elevator. She took a glance at the gadget, as it showed the three flickering yellow dots had stopped moving, and they were above her, so she rushed to the rooftop, running as fast as she could. In the meantime, she tried to go over what had just happened back at the office, she saw that rabbit and that fox talking, she knew she did. 'Otherworldly companions'? from what kind of world could a talking fox and rabbit come from? As she started realizing curiosity was getting the best of her again, and that it would probably had been a better idea to stay at the office and question Talia about this matter, she shook her head and started running faster, as there was no turning back now, specially when she had reached the door to the rooftop: she had gone as high as she could. Overlord Enterprises: Rooftop Katherine opened the door and ran to the center of the place. It was a regular rooftop, with some air ventilation machines, water deposits and a lot of antennas. Katherine scanned the area, looking for another talking creature, but she couldn't find a thing. -What's that down there, brother!? -She could hear a raspy sounding voice, coming from above. -I think it's a human, brother! -A human!? -Of course it's a human, you idiot! -Hey! Who are you calling an idiot!?Three flying creatures seemed to be arguing above, their voices sounded exactly the same for Katherine and they seemed to be speaking perfect Japanese, with no accent. -Hey! Hey you! -Without thinking, Katherine started yelling to raise their attention, even if she somehow knew that was probably a bad idea, since she didn't know what kind of creatures they were or if they were dangerous. It took them a while to notice Katherine again, since they seemed to be pretty busy arguing with each other, exchanging different types of threats and insults between them.
-Uh? -One of them turned his attention to her, and went down to be only a little higher than her head. The other two followed. Now Katherine could confirm they weren't even similar to any kind of creature she had ever seen before, they were white and purple, with some sort of bat wings they were constantly fluttering to remain above the ground. They also had yellow eyes, and were about Katherine's head in size. -What do you want, stupid human? -He asked with a disliking expression.
-Haha, it is pretty stupid! -Yeah! and ugly! -Now the three of them seemed to finally be at the same page, unfortunately, it seemed like the page was called "Katherine the stupid and ugly human". -What the hell... are you? -Probably asking the three mean flying rats what they were wasn't the best idea, and Katherine knew this. -You stupid human! We're Tukaimon! What the hell are YOU!? -The one in the middle said, again, with a very annoying tone. -Who does this human think she is? -The one at the right seemed to be angry. -I'm not in the mood for your stupid questions human! -Taking a better look at them, Katherine could tell they seemed to be in some sort of pain. I'm tired of you already! -Out of nowhere, one of them flew at high speed and crashed against one of the multiples antennas around the rooftop. For a minute, Katherine thought he was attacking her, but then realized he did it on purpose, as the other two cheered for it. -Yes brother! teach that thing a lesson! -They seemed to be upset about the antennas. Katherine remembered a book she read about radio waves and how they affected some type of animals who had a high hearing perception. Could this antennas be bothering them? The other two started crashing on antennas too, destroying some in the process.
-Hey! T- Tukaimon, stop that! -Katherine squealed. This time the three creatures turned immediately. -I think I can make them stop bothering you, but stop destroying this place! -Could that work? Maybe they could listen to reason. As one of them flew like a bullet directly against her, she answered her own question: Nope. She barely managed to move at the last second to dodge the impact, making the creature go directly against a wall. Katherine made a run for it, straight to the rooftop door. As she ran, she turned to see the creatures and prepare to dodge another attack, as she spotted two getting some height to presumably launch another attack on her. When she turned back forward, the other one was standing right in front of the door. He took some breathe and he shouted: DON'T GIVE ME ANY ORDERS, YOU STUPID BITCH!
As the words went out the creature's mouth, some sort of purple smoke did also. Katherine closed her eyes. What was that? some kind of poison? gas? she tried to not breathe it, but she could feel the smoke around her skin, it had a much lower temperature, but it didn't burn or anything like that. After wondering if she was going to die for around five seconds, she opened her eyes, the creature was still standing there. Immediately, she tried to move, but instead fell to her knees on the ground. It wasn't like she couldn't move, she just didn't want to. Suddenly, she was feeling sad, very sad. Why would that creature say something so awful to her?. She could feel a deep sorrow inside of her, just because of that creature's words, somehow, they were having a tremendous effect on her. She could hear the other two monsters laughing behind her. Her vision turned blurry, as her eyes were full of tears. Katherine was crying.

Post by Talia and Tohru & Simba on Jun 15, 2018 8:02:03 GMT
Up until now Talia had never had an experience with malevolent digimon, but like a protagonist from a video game she ran to the elevator with her faithful duo in tow, stopping just before the elevator, looking down at the two. “I don’t know what we’ll find up there, but I’m more than ready to face it with you two; thoughts?” The two looked at eachother before fistbumping and then back at Talia, both rabbit and dragon (now unholosuited) giving her a nod of approval, the human kneeling down to their level holding out her hand for the other two to merge with. “On three, the Gallant Three to the rescue!”
The underwhelmingly sized fat purple flying pigs didn’t look very threatening to the three, but Lopmon was quick to remind them that Tsukaimon possessed strong demonic powers to look for - that didn’t stop her of course from sending the twins to attack the hams head on. “Blazing Ice!” Leaping at the two, the rabbit glided with her ears, sending a breath of cold air towards air toward the Tsukaimon. “Fifth Rush!” Simba jumped in the opposite latitudinal direction his sister did so that the two of them made a full frontal attack from both left and right, the dragon swiping his claws at the enemy. “You know, it’s not nice to name call, I mean I could call you guys flying bacon but will I? Nah, cause that’d be an insult to BLTs, and I happen to really like BLTs.”
The woman had spoken before sauntering into a vision of sight, posing not unlike (yet again some action video game main character. While the twins were preoccupied detaining the flying porker bat like creatures, Talia went to grab Katherine to safety, swiping the girl gently by the arm away from the fighting. “Rule number 1 of digimon - don’t randomly approach ones who look like they could be minions of Ridley, got it?”
They didddd sort of look like they would for an evil flesh eating space pirate, and Talia was blonde like Samus (just no cool armor unfortunately) so it was perfect. "By the way, I kind of forgot to mention earlier that I'm a digimon tamer, and so are you, well you will be I guess whenever your partner decides to show up." These things just seemed to work by random chance.

Someone was pulling from Katherine's arm, helping her to stand up and getting her away from danger. With her other hand, the girl shook away the tears from her eyes, as she felt that overwhelming feeling of sadness, fading away slowly. What was that? Was she legitimately feeling sad because of that thing's words? No, that had no sense, she was scared of it, but not concerned of what it may think of her. She remembered that, when it shouted, it let go a sort of gas from its mouth, a purple gas Katherine could actually see getting near her. Was that some sort of 'sad gas' that made her feel depressed? in any case, the effect had passed now and she was back at being scared. She raised her head a little to see Talia helping her move, while throwing some sort of what Katherine could only assume was a science fiction reference that she couldn't really understand. As they got near the door of the rooftop, Talia stopped and turned back. There was some sort of battle going on, as now there were two more creatures fighting against those so called Tsukaimon. Because of distance and due to the struggle going on, Katherine couldn't really detail these creatures, but they did seem to be on their side. One of them seemed to be of a light brown color and have huge ears. Talia didn't seem scared at all, she was clearly aware of what was going on, and had a worried expression on her face. Katherine looked down, searching for Talia's talking pets. They didn't seem to be around, did they stay at the office or...?
-D... Digimon? -The girl looked back at the fight going on just in from of them, even when Talia's friends seemed to be outnumbered, they didn't seem to be in too much trouble. So those things were called Digimon, but what were they? Katherine could only assume they came from this other world Talia mentioned earlier.
"Blazing Ice!"
"Fifth Rush!"
"FuwaFuwa Attack!"
Katherine saw as one of the creatures that just got into battle, shot a wave of cool air, with even some shards of what seemed to be ice from it's mouth. The other one kept throwing punches at the Tsukaimon, who tried to counter with tackles and more curse words, but none of them seemed to be able to hit Talia's partners. Even being three, the Tsukaimon seemed to be in trouble.
-Those voices... -Katherine mumbled. They were definitely the voices she just heard downstairs at Talia's office. There was no doubt, those were Talia's pets, but what did they turn into? Digimon? How?
-So... I'm a Digimon Tamer too!? How can you know that? I've never seen those creatures before! -Katherine replied to the blonde girl, who still seemed to be paying much attention to the fight going on.
-What kind of Digimon are you!? Helping a stupid human, Ha! I'll teach you. 'FRIENDLY FIRE!' -One of the Tsukaimon started shooting random fireballs from it's mouth. However, these fireballs moved rather slow, and were easily dodge-able for Talia's friends, and only ended up hitting the other two purple flying digimon. 'Friendly fire' seemed like a pretty accurate name for that move. -What the hell are you doing, you jackass!? -One of the Tsukaimons seemed angry, yelling at its 'friend' with its right wing slightly lit on fire. -What did you say, moron!? You should be more careful! -What the hell are you saying? You're the one who threw fire at me! -They were back at arguing. Even when they seemed to care for each other, Tsukaimon's friendship seemed to weaken when they were having troubles to face an enemy. -Shut up, you two! We need to get out of here before it's too late! -The one Tsukaimon that seemed to be keeping its cool, yelled at the other two. -PURPLE SMOG! -He shouted after taking a beep breath. A huge amount of dark smog started coming out of the fat bat's mouth, as the other two followed. Soon, the whole roof was covered in gas fluid. Katherine couldn't see a thing. She closed her eyes and covered her mouth, trying not to breathe the smog, but not too long after, the smog was gone, and the Tsukaimon were no longer around. Katherine opened her eyes only to see the two creatures who came to help standing in the middle of the rooftop, still looking around in case there was any enemy left.
-I need explanations, Talia. I'm ready for anything. -At this point, after seeing all of what just happened, Katherine just needed to know what was going on, she was prepared to listen to whatever Talia had to say, skepticism was off the table now.
