Unfamiliar Sights (Wakako/Yukiko/Open)

Shifting around in the shadows of the massive ruins, a small figure was trying her best to maneuver around the maze of unfamiliar stone walls and monuments, trying her best to evade the harsh sunlight outside. With how hot it was, the solace of shadows was the only way Wakako saw being able to survive... she didn't want to get sunstroke out here, but with no way to satiate her thirst or cool her down, it was the only way.
The white-haired girl was trying her best to wander through this unknown set of ruins she had just woke up in... though everything looked so samey to her. Frankly, she was just wanting to at this point try and get out of this abandoned city... why couldn't there have at least been a working water fountain somewhere around?!
The girl took a moment to sit down, catching her breath as she took off the cap over her head. Why couldn't she have been given different clothes than these ones? She didn't remember ever having THIS wardrobe... and it certainly wouldn't have been functional out here in the heat. She sighed as she huddled up by one of the stone walls in the shade... wondering just where on Earth was she.
Everything was a mixture of confusion and terror right now for the ten-year-old. Dropped in a familiar place away from the comforts of home... Why wouldn't this have been terrifying?

The Betamon Mizu wiped sweat off her brow, her sunglasses shifting slightly from the movement. "Man, does this beach ever eeeeend?" Yukiko, who was looking at inscriptions on the pillar, blinked at her partner. "B-b-b-but, this is a desert..." The overheating Betamon grinned. "I know, just kidding~ Toss me another water bottle!" The human pulled a bottle of water from a ice box she had brought along and tossed it at Mizu. The Betamon opened its mouth, and closed it once the bottle was inside. After a few seconds she then spat out the now empty bottle again.
Mizu and Yukiko had come to the desert on request from Ayumi. The albino really couldn't do well with blazing desert heat, but really wanted a copy of the ruins inscriptions, so she asked her best friend to do it for her. Yukiko, being the good friend she is, agreed immediately. So it came that she wandered around the pillars and came upon the frightened youth hiding in the shadow. "O-o-o-oh! H-h-hello! A-a-are you ok?"

As Wakako sat alone within the ruins, she let out an exhausted sigh. Was there an exit to this place? It felt as if no matter how much she walked, she couldn't find even an entrance to the city... or at least someone around that could help her! It seemed like she was all alone out here, which frankly worried her... How was she going to get home like this? She didn't even have a map! The girl was almost willing to resign to her fate had not someone approached her.
Wakako's eyes widened with hope... An adult! Frankly, Wakako was just glad to see someone... ANYONE at this point. This woman though was certainly built way differently than any other adult though... they were built almost like a male protagonist of a shonen anime, maybe more so than most! Not that bothered her... They looked like they could beat up just about anyone! How do you not feel safe around someone like that? "Oh! Oh... thank you, I thought I was all alone and..."
It was then that Wakako saw what was probably the weirdest frog she has ever seen... biggest one too! It didn't look any regular frog she has ever seen... it had like claws on it's feet, but it's most noticeable feature was the large orange sail-fin on it's back. Needless to say, it looked very off... at least to Wakako. "...? What kind of frog is that?" she asked quizzically, tilting her head slightly to the left as she gazed at the creature... as if they were some kind of alien

Yukiko offered her hand to the girl. "A-a-a-ah!Y-y-y-you should come over to where we are, th-th-there's more shade, and w-w-we got food and drinks...ah, I'm Y-y-y-yukiko, and this is Mizu!" She pointed at the weird frog, who seemed to object to being called "weird". Or a frog. She lowered her sunglasses to peer at the girl over the rim of her glasses. "Who ya callin' weird, darling?" She pumped up her chest with pride and put her claw to her chest. "I am not any kind of frog, I am a Betamon! And the most gorgeous one there is, too!~ Why, how are you in the Digital World without knowing what a Betamon is?"

Wakako was actually very quick to get up and accept Yukiko's hand, looking up to them with a bit of reverance. Wakako felt that she got along with most adults better than most kids her age... perhaps since most of them were usually very calm and patient. She wasn't the type who liked rushing if she could, so she was more than eager to accept help from them.
While she was more than comfortable with Yukiko's presence, Wakako visibly flinched seeing the froggish creature talk to her. For a moment she just had thought that Yukiko had placed the sunglasses on them for fun... but no, they were talking and acting like a person!
Frankly, she had never even HEARD of a Betamon before, nor anything about a Digital World... but she didn't want to seem rude. After all, they were offering refreshments! Her throat was a bit parched that frankly, she was happy to oblige. "...! Oh! Uhm... I'm sorry, Mizu? I don't think I have ever seen a Betamon before." she politely apologized, not wanting to seem rude to either Yukiko or Mizu...
Still, this was super bizarre... she was talking to like an animal! That wasn't something that normally happened... she was old enough to know animals weren't supposed to talk (well, except parrots... but those don't count). As she held onto Yukiko's hand, she glanced over to Mizu every couple of seconds... a generally baffled look on her face.
One thing a time...
"Uhmm... Miss Yukiko-san? Where are we?" she ended up asking, needing that question answered first before anything. "I had just... woke up here, and I don't know how..."

Mizu -would- be more upset, but she could see the girl was clearly confused and scared. This was certainly not normal! So, she decided to just drop the issue altogether, and just smile at her. "That's ok, some people are just unfortunate because they never had the pleasure of meeting a Betamon. Well, now you're one of the fortunate ones!~" She tried to generally seem nice and safe to be around, but still kept a respectful distance!
Yukiko led the girl into the shade and gave her a cool bottle of water and a cold sandwich in a box with a smiling winking dragon's head on it. She seemed a bit surprised by Wakako's question, but tried to answer it anyway. "W-w-w-well, these are Ancient Ruins in the middle of the Folder Desert. Th-th-this is the western expanse of the Digital World...h-h-have you never heard of the Digital World?"

Despite how weird Mizu looked to Wakako, she couldn't help but feel not threatened by them. They seemed like a very silly fr-... Betamon, but nice too. Despite how overwhelming a lot of this was, Wakako was able to at least smile reassuringly to the Betamon. "Well, now I know what a Betamon looks like... and I guess until I meet another, you ARE the most gorgeous one I've met!" she teased the froggish creature's ego.
She idly wondered why these two were together... Seemed like an odd friendship, a woman and a Betamon... She wanted to say it was something like Mizu being Yukiko's pet, but that felt odd to have a pet who could talk. At that point, wouldn't it have been better to just call them a person? Even if they are small and not really at all human, they definitely sure acted like a person. "Are you two friends...?" she ended up asking, not wanting to come off as rude in that regard.
This place was just called Ancient Ruins...? Not just that it was some ancient ruins? Wakako's face displayed her confusion well by some of these points, feeling like as if she was being expected to know this stuff... which embarassingly to say, she did not. None of these places sounded like actual, real-world places at all... so how was she expected to know where she was? It wasn't like Japan had any deserts after all... "N-No ma'am. I don't think I've heard of a Folder Desert on the maps... nor a Digital World." she spoke, pretty confident that was the case.
At the same time... was being confident about that a good thing?

The Betamon gave her a big, wide smile. "Well, once you've seen others of my kind you will find that I out-gorgeous them all easily~"
Yukiko blinked at the question. "E-e-eh? Friends? Y-y-y-yeah, you could say that!" "Yuki here is like a lil' sister to me, we're really close." "E-e-e-ehehehe, yeah, we're super close, I th-th-think the proper term is "partner"..."
Upon hearing the girl's unfamiliarity with the Digital World Yukiko rubbed her chin. "N-n-n-never heard of the Digital world? Oh, how do I explain this...usually Ayumi is the smart one...w-w-well, the Digital World is, like, a different dimension? I th-think?" Mizu patted Wakako gently. "Think of the Digital World as a foreign country you reach by train where the laws of nature work differently and you're gold!"

Another dimension? If she were just a tad bit younger she'd have accepted that pretty easily, but she wasn't THAT naive now. It sounded like one of the plots to her "isekai" novels, but it still seemed far-fetched. Than again, everything about Mizu seemed far-fetched as well. "Another... dimension? How is that possible? I didn't even ride a train..." she ended up commenting.
Seriously, how does one ride a train and get to a different dimension? That seemed super illogical, even to her. Then again, Mizu just mentioned that the laws of physics seem to just melt here, so maybe that kinda helped that process? Still, what kinda train in the human world could take her here? She was pretty sure she had not taken one... she was just asleep in her bedroom a few hours ago, so why? "I... I still don't know how I got here..."
Frankly, this was still a really bad situation... She needed to get home soon, else her parents would have FREAKED out if they noticed her gone, so getting home was her greatest priority. While she greatly appreciated miss Yukiko and Mizu trying their best to comfort her, she was still worried half to death. "M-Miss Yukiko? Miss Mizu? How... How do I get back home? I need to get home soon..." she pleaded to the pair, a worried look in her eyes.
Despite there likely being new sights to see... she didn't want to be here. She wanted to be home, where everything was familiar and safe.

Yukiko was surprised. How does anyone get into the Digital World without using the train? That was the only way in! "A-a-a-ah, y-y-you got here without the train? Th-th-th-that's bizarre." The Betamon put a claw to her lower lip in thought. "Yeah, super duper bizarre! But regardless!" She turned back to Wakako with a smile. "If ya wanna go back home we'll be glad to escort you back to Terminus City so you can take the train back to Shibuya! Right, Yuki?" "A-a-a-ah, of course! W-w-w-we'd love to help!" Yukiko tried to give Wakako a reassuring smile, but due to her own awkwardness it turned out rather crooked.

The slight sigh of disappointment in Wakako's voice perfectly displayed her feelings about hearing that her case was... unusual apparently. Not even miss Yukiko or Mizu knew why she was here? That was not something that calmed her nerves... Still, the offer to get her back home offered some level of comfort. Lost in an unfamiliar world, any level of solace she could gather was more than welcome. "That is a relief... this place is too big and hot... I would much prefer a closed space." she commented, a shy smile on the young girl's face.
Despite the circumstances she was in, it was relieving to know that at least miss Yukiko and Mizu were trying their best to comfort her.
As they hopefully were making their way out of these ruins, Wakako slightly tugged on Yukiko's hand to try and get their attention, hungry for more information. Even if she had no intention of staying here, she did want to learn more about this world... It WAS a whole nother world after all. How many chances does one get to say they've seen another dimension? "Uhm... so, what is the Digital World like? Its not on Earth, is it?"

Yukiko was gathering her things in her backpack when Mizu briefly stopped her. She rummaged through, and pulled out a sunhat which she offered Wakako. "Here! This is mine, but you need it way more than me! I can always walk in Yuki's shadow, it's big enough!~" The girl blushed. "H-h-h-hey!" "What, it is!"
Yuki had just finished packing when Wakako asked her what the Digital World is like. She scratched her chin, thinking. "W-w-w-well, I'd say the Digital World is similar to ours in th-th-that there's climates, varied wildlife, cities and what have you...but there's also floating islands, dark abysses of despair, magic creatures, many different biomes in a small space..." "It's basically as if the laws of reason have taken a small holiday and let us handle stuff ourselves! But no worries, we'll keep ya away from the bad stuff, right Yuki?" "A-a-a-ah, yes, of course! C-c-come on, let's go, it's a bit of a walk to the nearest Trailmon station..."

The sunlight beating down on them... It was more intense than any summer heat Wakako had ever experienced. Then again, she always preferred staying indoors anyway, but that was aside the point... When the petite girl was offered a sunhat by Mizu, one could see the look of gratitude on Wakako's face as she hesitantly took the sunhat. "Th-Thank you!" she thanked the froggish-looking creature, though this then caused her to pause briefly. "Are... Are you sure you won't dehydrate?" she hesitantly asked. She wasn't sure if Mizu was like an amphibian or a fish of some kind, but they looked like the kinda creature who needed to stay moist... at least at a glance.
Yukiko's way of describing the Digital World was peculiar to say the least. If anything, it all sounded like this Digital World was like a fantasy world say in an RPG. Dark abysses of despair and magic both kinda fit the bill of not belonging in the normal world after all... It did make it sound like the Digital World was a bit of a dangerous place, what with Yukiko and Mizu offering to keep her safe. She softly stayed close by Yukiko and Mizu, her legs somewhat tired... but she had hope they would get to this Trailmon station soon. How long of a walk was it going to be...? "... So what is this place? Like, in the Digital World..."

Mizu gave the girl a reassuring smile. "I'll be alright! I drank a whole lot of water, so I will last a while, but you might be dehydrated, so you need it more anyway!" She really did seem to not be in discomfort, and her skin seemed rather smoothly scaly in texture, maybe she wasn't an amphibian after all...?
Yukiko seemed a bit surprised by the question. It was a desert, she figured that was self-evident. But saying that would be rude, and she'd rather die than be rude. "A-a-a-ah, what we just left were the ruins o-o-of an ancient civilisation who lived in the desert! I d-d-do have a theory that this place has not always been a a desert...b-b-but that doesn't matter! J-j-just know this is the Western part of the Digital World, and this desert is called the Folder Desert!"

While she wasn't terribly sure if the Betamon WOULD be fine (they seemed so small...), maybe they were made of tougher stuff than they looked? Wakako at the very least accepted their words as a sign to not worry. They didn't seem too bothered by the heat, so she'd let it slide for now... The moment though they seemed bothered by the sun though, she'd prefer to hand the sunhat right back. "Well... Okay then, Mizu... Just, please tell me if you need it back." the girl politely asked, taking care to wear the sunhat snugly over her.
An ancient civilization...? Okay, that really drove how just how lost she was in this world. If anything, it sounded like she was at Egypt more than anything. "Does the Digital World have pyramids too...?" the girl innocently asked, though she didn't see any around the abandoned city. Shame, as she'd have loved to see them one day... She remembered reading heavily about the ancient structures, and how technologically-advanced they were in comparison to the time period, enough that some people doubted they were built by normal means. "I read that some people think aliens built the pyramids since they are so complex... Do you think aliens could have done that?" she ended up asking briefly, though shook the thought off to the side. "... No, probably not. Seems too silly to me."
Then again, here she was... miles (maybe way more than that) away from her home in Shibuya. It went against all logic, but there was no way to explain why she was here... Her only information source right now unfortunately was Yukiko and Mizu, but they both seemed relatively experienced at least as to what the Digital World was like. "Do you know why I'm here though miss Yukiko? I don't understand how I ended up here frankly... I just sorta woke up here."
