Akimi wandered through the abandoned town as she wondered what was once there. Archaeology wasn't a big interest of hers, but she did appreciate the remains of what was once potentially a great city. Looking around, she found inspiration everywhere as soon as she started asking questions. Looking at a house, she wondered who lived there, where did those cracks come from. Inspiration for characters, a setting, a mood. Potentially a family on the surface struggling with morality as they are supported by one members morally grey actions. Spending the day in the harsh sun and heat was not an enjoyable one for Akimi if not for the inspiration the ruins have given her. Walking through, she found a rather large building, figuring it couldn't be too unstable.
She entered what she presumed to be a foyer as the large room connected to six rooms. There was a door on each wall at the bottom, then at the far end of the room there was a balcony with two curved staircases on either side of the room. The stairs on the right had several steps missing leading to the last two missing, Akimi sighed as that gap was a bit to much for her. The left hand staircase looked fine but the railing was missing. From what she could see, there was damage on the balcony.
There appeared to be a stone table at the back of the room under the balcony as well as remains of what she assumed were furniture around it. Akimi would love to explore it but she felt that it was too unstable with every creek the small girl's steps made. She made her way to the right side of the room as she took a seat on a old bench after wiping off the dust.
Looking at the center of the room, she saw what appeared to be a fountain, the water in there was not suitable for drinking, as it was a dark brown color. Akimi shuddered to even call it water. In the center of the fountain was what was left was the calves and feet of a humanoid figure with both legs pressed together, Akimi presumed that this was a home decor that got broken over time. Taking a few minutes to rest, she looked around the room and got curious before she had the strength to get back up and wander some more. She walked through the door on the right and came into a basic room that appeared to be some sort of waiting or meeting room. It once held stone circular seating with gaps in the center for three of the four sides, one being the entrance door, one the door on the left wall, and one at the far end with some sort of podium.
Akimi started to suspect this building was some sort of meeting hall, feeling antsy about the whole idea, she wanted to see everything this building had to offer. However as her feet touched the center, she heard the crack as the stone tiles slowly came loose under her feet. She immediately froze, afraid to breathe as her eyes drifted to the floor. She was afraid to move as the tiles were almost ready to break. "Oh dear. This ain't gonna end pretty."
Akimi grabbed her D-Tector in one hand as she tried desperately to stiffen her legs, worried that any motion would be disastrous to the situation. Pressing a button on the side she was about to start spirit evolution but the cracked floor finally reached it's limit and broke under Akimi, and part of the area around her. Akimi yelped as she fell through the room to the one bellow, thinking that she was meeting her end. She never thought first hand research would be the end of her, although she expected sickness to be the end her a long time ago so this would be a stretch.
Closing her eyes, she didn't want to watch her body break, she expected feeling could but what she experienced was a splash of a cold liquid. She didn' expect her tiny body to explode, and after that to still feel anything. However she then heard several objects splash down around her. Afraid, she opened her eyes to look at her surroundings as shock was limiting her sense of touch and feeling. She looked around and from what she could see she was in some sort of pool, floating among with small gravel of debris. Through the mucky water some of the recent pieces that fell earlier were visible, and with some rocks large enough to reach above the water. "I should've learned how to swim..."
With what little light she had available, she kicked back with her legs all the way to an edge and tried to push herself up onto to the ledge. To no surprise she failed but unfortunately this time it as due to not being able to get footing to help push herself up. Noticing a large rock to the side, she moved over towards it, keeping a grip on the edge as she did so. She slowly lifted her body up out of the pool, stepping slowly up the top and jumping out of the pool, barely landing on her feet. "Ouch..."
Akimi pulled out her phone from her pocket, shivering as she did so as she was soaked head to toe. She took off her blue sweater and wringed it out starting from the hood while she was still in the light. "If I was proper height or at least in proper shape for my age, this wouldn't be a problem." After she fully wringed out her sweater, she looked down at her clothes and realized she picked the wrong day to wear white. Unlocking her phone, she turned on the flashlight. She couldn't hold the device steady as she shined the light around the room and got a sense of the layout, with only the other side of the pool, which she started to suspect was a bath house. She immediately noted leaving through the way she came in was not an option. She looked towards the far end and saw some sort of pipe where water came through, but it was full of cobwebs and sustained some damage. Behind her was the only stable and open doorway, she sprinted towards the next room.
The next room was an open room, to Akimi's right, she saw the remains of a large staircase that had the first and last three steps. Needless to say, not an option. There was another doorway directly ahead of her. The wall to the left housed a large locked door, Akimi's interest was peaked, but circumstances were in the way. "This would be so interesting to explore, if I wasn't at risk for hypothermia."
Akimi figured that the best course of action was to go forward as she could see traces of light coming from the edge of the doorway. Reaching the room, Akimi took note of the room's layout. By comparison, this room appeared to be in relatively decent condition. It was a small room, it contained rubble of broken shelves, with a stone table and stools around it. They were clearly implanted in the ground. However along the back wall were high windows. There were jagged edges of where bars used to be visible along the window ledges. Akimi was wide eyed with joy as she saw her way out. Walking towards the edge, she saw that escape was not easy as she walked towards the other end, feeling the warmth of the harsh sunlight was now a considerably pleasant sensation as compared to falling into filthy water.
However as one could expect from this situation, she noticed the window was a little too high for her. She tried jumping but she could not reach the ledge. After a few attempts she stopped as she realized she wasn't getting any closer. About to pout, she remembered the device hanging around her neck. Grabbing her D-Tector, she pressed the button of the side and a ring of code surrounded her opposite hand. Striking her hand along the top of the device and soon she was engulfed in a white light. Where the child looking girl stood, was now another child looking girl, with a trident in hand this time. Akimi looked around the room, five inches made a bit of a difference for viewing the room. Shrugging those thoughts off, she stretched out her arms while stepping backwards.
"As Sistermon Blanc, I got tons more stamina, athletic ability, and more importantly height." Smirking with confidence, Akimi started running towards the wall and jumped, slamming into the wall. On the one hand, her fingers reached the side of the ledge, but still unable to reach the top. Akimi slid down the wall to the bottom. "If I had a bit more power..." Akimi muttered to nobody, but the ghostly whisper that followed surprised her. "What would you do with that power?"
Shocked, Akimi jumped back to her feet, both hands on her trident as she slowly looked for the source of that voice. She couldn't pinpoint the source of that sound. "Who said that?!" The lack of answer or sign of presence was disturbing, but creating another reason for escape. Akimi then tried impaling her trident into the stone to use as a ramp of sorts, but she was struggling to make progress after a few attempts. "I'm not strong enough even as a digimon. If I had a bit more power.." Much like the last time the ghostly feminine voice whispered again. "What would you do with that power?"
Akimi looked all around, not seeing the source of the voice yet again. However the question was puzzling Akimi. Why did she accept the power of the spirits? Why did she return to the digital world? She knew she was out of her depth, what did the shred of power she had give her? Akimi left the room back to the center room to check out the staircase, even as a Sistermon Blanc, Akimi believed she couldn't jump that gap. Her grip on the trident tightened as she was struggling to get anywhere. Looking behind her, she checked out her last option.
Walking up to the iron door, she found it looked out of place with the stone structure. She tried to open it, only to get meet with the obvious outcome of the door being locked. Stress eating at her she was feeling trapped even when she was essentially superhuman. Stepping back to the center of the room, she held her trident in one hand as she aimed it at the door and through her trident. "Divine Pierce!" Only to be met with the trident hitting the door, and barely even scratching it as it fell down. Akimi felt powerless at this point, clenching her fists as she trembled with anger. "Damn, if I had just a bit more strength, if I was strong to be right... If I had the power of even a teenage girl.."
She was unphased as the ghostly whisper came back once more. "What would you do with that power?" However this time she reached her limit as she finally responded to the voice directly. In this moment, she finally felt like every emotion she bottled up finally came flowing as tears came out while her voice shrieked out of anger. "What I would do? First get out of the god forsaken building. Then I would use that power to be taken seriously, and more importantly to defend myself and for once in my life, others! I received blow after blow all my life, I don't want to feel this way, and I will fight till my fragile body collapses so no one can feel like this on my watch!"
Akimi took a deep breath as she recollected herself, feeling better that she finally got out that outburst of emotions, but was shocked as the voice responded to her cries. That's the right answer! Come forth." The in front of her shook, Akimi covered her eyes as the wall cracked, but only around the door until it fell down, revealing the room hidden to Akimi. Slowly, she approached and found it to be some sort of treasury, or used to be one. The shelves around the room were empty, only contents were on the podium in the center. A translucent totem could be seen on the podium, having white dress and a blue cap similar to Sistermon Blanc. In front of it was a gold pendant with a black gemstone. Instinctively, Akimi devolved to human as she approached.
She initially glanced at the pendant, slowly lifting it up to get a better look at it. The voice from before spoke up, this time clearly from the totem.n
]"You hold my last possession, take it as well as my power. Face your device to me!" Akimi wasn't even surprised at this point. She bowed in courtesy and respect as she accepted the gifts of the gracious spirit. "I am honored. Thank you."
While conferring the spirit process, she undid the clasp on the necklace and donned herself with it."So just point and shoot? Simple enough." Akimi then pointed the top of her D-Tector towards the totem with both hands, and pressed a button at the side. A trail of code extended from the totem, it progressively shrunk as data entered the digivice until it was gone, and the last shred of code entered her digivice. Looking at the digivice, she noticed a new icon, the totem from earlier. However from the corner of her eye Akimi noticed that there was something in the same place, two folded pieces of paper stacked on top of eachother. Curious, she opened the one on top and it was a letter.
Akimi read through both letters, wondering what was going on. However she was curious because this could help her out with her writing. She was curious to know more as she folded the papers away, the first piece to the puzzle. "Interesting, what is this deed? Anyways, back to this, time to get out." Akimi pressed the button at the side as a ring of code formed around her hand as she struck her hand along the top. In a flash of light, the frail little girl was gone and Sistermon Ciel, but still wearing the pendant was in her place. Legs wobbly, she tried taking a step but immediately fell onto the ground face first, landing on her elbows to stop her from crashing on her face.
Groaning, she slowly got up as her mind started to catch up with her form. "God damn these massive-" Akimi looked down to note her form as she reached up to the podium for support as she slowly stood up and sat down for a minute to take everything in. Most shockingly, she was sitting with her feet touching the actual ground. She traced her fingers down the side of the form to confirm it's real, and was equally shocked. "Amazing! Didn't realize digimon could be this, human looking. Shouldn't the pendant be with my human body though?"
After taking a moment to let the initial transformation effects sink in as she soon started to slowly get up. She turned around only to not see the podium directly ahead of her, she looked down and for once was overcome with joy. "Finally not the shortest! Although it's only temporary... First thing's first, gotta get out of here." Walking out of the door she turned to face the door to the left as she walked into the windowed room. It felt weird being in the same room taller, but she didn't want to react anymore. She reached her back and insured that the guns there wouldn't be moving. Running towards the end of the room, she jumped and reached the ledge with both hands.
Reaching her hands forward and trying to push with her feet against some looser stones, she managed to push her way to freedom as she finally got out of the ruins. Standing up, she brushed off the dust and walked away from the building, feeling that was just the beginning of something. Unaware from the roof she was being stared at by a dark cloaked figure on top of the roof. Whispering to their-self "So it begins again."
Contradictions/Obvious questions?
Why didn't Akimi use her digiport or grapple gun: She doesn't know she has the former, and the latter broke in the fall.
Why did the wall conveniently break: Make your own answer. It was a thematic choice.
What is the deed?" Sorry, spoilers.

"My dearest Ciel. I pray this letter reaches you in time but I fear we are out of such luxury. We were wrong to let this go on, and especially wrong to believe she would end this twisted experiment. Our blindness has turned those pour souls into monsters, what has she done do them? Her notes are in a code I cannot decipher, I tried to find a way to stop them, but she made them too strong. They came for her, and as far as I can imagine she is no longer with us. I have Bianca, she's safe with me. Haren is going for Noir. If this somehow reaches you, escape the city as soon as you can. They're coming, and they are coming for code."
The second reads as this.
"My dearest Grif. I am aware of our dire situation and I fear this is something we can't escape from. However it is too late for your warning, they are at my door. I will try to evade and hopefully, if I succeed this letter will reach you. What happened was beyond cruel. Those poor souls, all they know anymore is pain. The conflicting memories are suppressing one another and both are stripped of themselves. Leaving only the mess after the deed. I pray that one day we can he-" The letter was cut off.
