The desert is no place for a human teen boy. Especially not one with a heavy coat, such as the blue one Eito is wearing. Fortunately for him, he isn't in the desert proper, but the old shanty town of Rustport. Still, the heat beating down on him sure feels like the desert. There were plenty of tin overhangs to block the direct sun, and places on the ground that weren't pure, burning sand, but this wasn't the kind of weather he was used to.
He wipes the sweat off his brow with one hand, tightly gripping the Xros Loader on his waist with the other. As he does so, it buzzes in his grasp. "...fine," Eito says with a sigh. "If you are sure you're okay, and promise to be good." He unhooks the specialized Digivice and beams a Trailmon into existence, sans any cars.
"Be good?" The Trailmon is quite indignant. If his eye had an eyebrow or lid, he would be glaring with a furrowed brow. "I'm neither a pet nor a child, boss, what are you expecting me to do? Rampage through the tow- oh hey, you made it to town okay!"

Eito and Trailmon however, would quickly realize that they were far from alone as the digimon materialize the ground would give way in a small spray of sand as a little machine digimon darted to the side before the train digimon in question could land on him. Leaving behind a sand colored cloak in his wake as he stumbled over it's hem the ties giving way and sending him tumbling onto his face.
"Owwie..." The little green Monitamon moaned out only for another patch of sand to lift up revealing a red Monitamon.
"Zaku! Zaku we're supposed to be hiding and observing! Don't just lay there!" The Red Monitamon barked out in a not at all quiet whisper as he reached out to grab his sibling pulling him under the cloak leaving the what had looked to be a small dune of sand a little bit larger. If Eito stared at it for a bit he could see the 'dune' shift as the two Monitamons lifted the edge of the cloak to peak out at the pair.
"Do you think they spotted us?" The Green Monitamon questioned in a whisper

Eito and Tetsu weren't alone. The boy's paranoia level fluctuates rapidly. Who could be out here? Though it makes sense, this is a city... town... village... collection of scraps and Digimon. However, it doesn't feel right.
And then the Monitamon speak, confirming his paranoia. "Tetsu... what are those...?" Tetsu shrugs as much as a train could. "I believe they are Monitamon."
"Hm. The Digital World is so backwards, television watches you. Are they a threat?"
"I don't... think so...? They seem more curious than dangerous." Eito wasn't convinced. He glares at the 'sand dunes', holding his Xros Loader. "Why are you observing us? What do you want? Are you waiting for an ambush? Spying on us for your master? Or... hmmm..." Eito has a flash of inspiration.
"Would you like to join us? You'd get to ride Trailmon and even fuse with him...and.. um... I'm not very good at this..."

"I think they've definitely spotted us!" The Green Monitamon whispered in a panic only to be shushed by his sibling. "Quick enact distraction 13!" The Red Monitamon ordered as the pair sprung to their feet shrugging back their sand colored cloaks as the Red Monitamon pointed directly at Eito in a manner that was likely meant to be intimidating as the Green Monitamon posed beside him. "We are the Zeon brothers!" The Red Monitamon declared loudly. "I am Char!" The red TV like Digimon called out imperiously as he tucked his hands behind his back in what was meant to be a military stance. "And I'm Zaku!" The Green Monitamon chirped failing somewhat in looking scary in the face of his excitement as he bounced lightly on his toes mimicking his siblings stance. "And THIS IS A DISTRACTION!" The pair yelled out together as they removed their hands from behind their backs to reveal lit smokebombs as they threw said bombs on the ground which exploded in a dark cloud. Not that the cloud did much good besides likely make Eito and Trailmon cough as the two Monitamon took off like shots from their cover and bolted down the street as fast as their little legs would carry them.

What kind of person would tell those they are trying to distract that they are about to perform a distraction? The Zeon brothers, Zaku and Char, apparantly. They might not be the smartest Digimon, but Eito sees potential in them.
"Zaku, Char, how would you... like to... um... join..." Eito turns to Tetsu with a look of confused defeat. "I'm not very good at this kind of thing yet... could you... help please?"
Tetsu clears his throat. "Zaku and Char. You seem like quite skilled individuals. How would you like to join an up-and-coming Xros General? He my not seem like much now, but he has an incredible mind and spirit, and is working on-"
'And THIS IS A DISTRACTION!'
The Monitamon are throwing bombs! Eito hits the deck, only for the bombs to be revealed as nothing more than a smokescreen. "Distraction. Right. Eheh." He ashamedly picks himself off the ground.
Tetsu huffs and opens a door for Eito. "Hop in, we're going after them!"
Eito obliges, though grins bemusedly. "Calling the shots, eh," he asks as they take off after the Zeon brothers.
"Um, sorry boss..."
"Taking initiative. I like it."

While the Zeon brothers may been more enthusiastic then clever they were certainly fast or more like nimble. Using the sharp corners, turns, and narrower roads of Rustport to their advantage as they dodged and weaved this way and that.
"Are they still following us?" Zakue questioned panting as the pair paused briefly in an alleyway doubled over from exhaustion.
"I think that's a yes." Char chirped as he felt the rumble of train wheels shaking the ground beneath their feet. "What was that they were saying about joining some sort of army gang thing?" He questioned his brother as the pair peeled out of the alleyway at highspeed once again.
"Wait aren't we already in a gang?" Zaku questioned as they dodged round some confused Digimon and a set of trashcans.
"I don't know Oyabun always makes that weird face whenever we mention it. Speaking of the Boss I don't think we can shake em!" Char muttered as he pinged the D-terminal of a certain Doctor nearby to locate her. "This way!" He called out to his sibling tugging him down another alley. Taking his cue from Char Zaku spied the telltale white Doctor's coat of their contractor in the distance.
"Cas! Oyabun! We're in trouble! We got caught!" The little green Monitamon yelled out as the pair dove for the Doctor's legs. Huddling behind her as Eito and Trailmon would likely come around the corner to see the two rookies huddling behind the legs of a human woman or what appeared at first glance to be human.
The Doctor in question was a petite woman in her mid to early twenties with long wild blonde hair pulled back in a tight braid and a ponytail though that hadn't stopped a few strands from breaking loose of their bonds to frame her face. By all accounts the woman would have been rather pretty were it not for the strange faded blue slash mark across her right cheek and the shocking appearance of piercing slitted blood red eyes which would pin the General and Trailmon pair with a look of wary curiosity. Even in the heat of Rustport the woman wore a long black turtleneck with black cargo pants, and black boots through which just the pinprick of black claws could be seen poking out. Her hands were stuck into the white pockets of the Doctors coat she wore over the outfit, but the edge of black gloves could be seen where her wrists showed and it was likely her fingers were tipped with sharpened nails not unlike her feet. When she flashed the pair a smile it was to show off a mouthful of fangs, the motion stretching and highlighting the horrific red tinted burn scars that crawled their way up the left side of her neck to just below her jaw peaking over the edge of her turtleneck. Most noticeable perhaps though were the Duramon and Dark Knightmon that flanked her observing Eito and Trailmon with equally curious and hostile gazes.
"Good afternoon~" The Doctor murmured her fanged smile never faltering in it's mix of polite cheer and intimidation. "Can I help you good sirs with something?" She asked with a curious tilt of her head as if she didn't have two rookies currently cowering behind her legs attempting to hide in her coat.

"Grrrrk... urrgghh...nnnn...." Tetsu's groans may be misconstrued as growls, which is unlikely to help seem more friendly to the Monitamon. Taking corners took a lot of creative rail generation and effort on the Trailmon's part. "Please stop... not gonna hurt you.... just wanna talk..."
It seems they would get their chance to talk, but not to the Monitmon. Tetsu screeches to a halt and opens the door. "Er Eito... you're gonna want to see this. And please don't fall head over heels for her, you're way too young for her."
"What are you talking abou-" Eito begins as he steps out of his Trailmon partner. "Oh. Hello. Excuse me for one moment..." He blushes and slowly turns towards the door he just exited from. "Th-that's not funny, Tetsu! I don't... do that kinda thing."
"What about with-"
"Shut it." He looks back at cas. "I...er..." he stammers, embarrassed both by Tetsu and the fact that the Digimon he was chasing actually belonged to someone. "I'm... I'm sorry Miss. I assumed these were... unpartnered Digimon and was trying to talk to them." He bows politely in apology. "I see that is not the case. I apologize for the inconvenience and for Tetsu's odd sense of humor. I will be leav-"
"ghrk... I... um... eheh... could we perhaps take a break? Maybe you'd like to get to know this nice lady and her Monitamon or something." That's it, Tetsu, play it cool, everything's okay.

"Ah I apologize. They're contracts of mine." Cassandra murmured arching a brow at the General and his Trailmon as the Duramon and Dark Knightmon's countenances softened turning from sharp glares to amused glances as the Duramon chuckled softly.
"It wouldn't be the first time someone's fallen in love with the Doc at first sight." Dagger muttered before letting out a sharp "Ouch! Hey!" as Cloak shifted to elbow his twin sharply in the side. From behind the Doctor's legs though the two Monitamon shifted. Peaking out around her lab coat to eye Eito and Trailmon with an expression that could only be described as pleased.
"Yeah this is our Boss!" Zaku chirped, "Oyabun is really strong so you better not mess with us!" Char added as the woman in question rolled her eyes playfully at the pair.
"Anyway I see you've met Zaku and Char. I'm Doctor Cassandra Cross and these are my partners Cloak and Dagger." The Doctor introduced herself motioning to the Dark Knightmon and Duramon in turn before she eyed the Trailmon with a narrowed gaze.
"Does your Trailmon always breath so heavy after a short chase? I thought they could go quite a long ways without tiring." Cassandra questioned with a curious tilt of her head.

Eito attempts to compose himself after his awkwardness, when Dagger mentions he wouldn't have been the first to fall in love with Cas. "That is very easy for me to understand," he says with a nod... and just the slightest hint of a grin. Was he trying to give back some of the embarrassment? Nah, Eito totally wasn't.
Zaku and Char introduce Cas as their boss. "See," Tetsu says, "I'm not the only partner that does that!" Eito corrects him softly. "She said they're her contracts, that's different."
The noises and fatigue from Tetsu were impossible for Eito to ignore, and it seemed to be the same for the doc. "He is definitely not like this most of the time," the boy with the heavy coat admits. "He can act lazy on occasion, but he's actually a hard worker with a lot of endurance. But ever since he got into a sparring match in which he was completely outclassed, he's been acting funny but refusing to talk to me about it or see a doctor... or.... mechanic? Doc-chanic?"
"I'm fiiiine. On second thought, we don't need a break, we can go now!"

"Why where you outclassed if it was a sparring match?" Cassandra asks a small crease of concern forming between her brows as she considers the very idea. "Nevermind I'm certain I don't even want to know." She adds after a moment waving the question off as she eyes the Trailmon with a sharp inspecting gaze. The sudden one-eighty in attitude more then a little suspicious.
"Really don't feel like getting to know us any longer?" The Duramon, Dagger asked with a light chuckle. He was clearly the more talkative of the pair it seemed.
"I could look him over if you would like errr...Eito isn't it?" Cas offered as she took a guess at the boys named based on what the Trailmon had called him. "And I take it this is Tetsu? Could you drive up the street then turn back and return here? I want to see how you move." The Doctor explained motioning up and down the road. It was rather clear she wanted to see if the Trailmon appeared to be favoring anything or moving in a tender manner.

Cassandra was right - if it were a simple sparring match, Tetsu should not have been outclassed. But it wasn't a simple sparring match. "It was... educational," Eito simply says.
Tetsu realizes that Duramon has caught on to him. "It isn't that," he tries to explain, "I'm sure you're all nice people and wonderful to be around but there's somewhere we must be."
"No there isn't." Excuse shut down by Eito. "You've been fidgety for a while now. Trying to avoid getting looked at and distracting me from questioning your condition. Now you have my orders and the doctor's orders, though we're supposed to be partners and I shouldn't have to order you to do this."
"Fine, fine," Tetsu grumbles, chugging away slowly. He runs a bit rough, not in the worst condition but obviously suffering some kind of pain. When he turns using his rails to return, he winces slightly. Obviously there was something wrong.
"See? Obviously there is nothing wrong!"

Cassandra was no engineer nor mechanic though she knew a little bit about cars and bikes from hands on experience and her multiple and growing amount of encounters with machine digimon had slowly increased her knowledge by a vast amount. Eyeing the train Digimon closely it was clear moving was painful and once he came to a full stop Dr. Cross stepped up to Tetsu motioning for Cloak and Dagger to join her.
"I'm going to have my partners carefully lay you on your side. I need to take a look at your wheels and under paneling. If that is all right with you and your partner." Cas explained and should Tetsu and Eito agree the Duramon and Dark Knightmon would gently grip either end of the Trailmon and tilt him over onto his side. Giving the Doctor a clear view of his wheels and anything beneath.
Slowly the Monitamon twins crept out from behind Cas's legs their scanners lighting up as they likewise looked the Trailmon over. Seeking to add him to the Doc's database and help her identify any abnormalities in his digital code.
Zaku and Char Use: -CyberRecon: Monitamon uses it's advanced scanners which function as improved scanners to scan a target within line of sight not only revealing the same information an improved scanner would, but also scanning the digimon's data makeup for instabilities or anomalies. Allowing the Monitamon to build and add information about the target to a visual profile within the Monitamon's database. Cooldown two turns.

"I'm fine," Tetsu reassures everyone - though nobody seems reassured. "It's nothing! Just...just a little tired is all, nothing to worry about, I'm - "
"You're hurt. You need to be looked at." Eito tenses slightly, irritated and worried. "Just let them examine you." A devious grin sneaks its way onto his face. "Or I'll tell them about the time in the swamp."
"You wouldn't dare!"
"I would."
"Then I'll tell Cass about the time you got red-faced over a Digimon-"
"H-hey! No fair! I'm doing this because...because I ... care about you."
Tetsu could not argue with that. Eito's statement knocked the argument right out of him. "...fine... you may take a look."
When Tetsu is put onto his side, the problem becomes apparent. One of his tires was damaged, and the axle attached to it had a scratch that was just a bit deeper than a surface blemish. These probably would not have actually been that bad if he were to have let it heal - rest or a doctor's visit would have fixed them right up. However, his stubbornness and continued work aggravated the damage.

"Boys Boys you're both pretty." Cas quips jokingly as she leans in to inspect the damage done to the Trailmon. The teasing grin however that had played across her lips before quickly turns to a soft frown as she inspects the wheel and axle. The scratch in it could hardly be called a scratch. It was really more of a gash looking as if some sort of blade or claws had cut into the metal and been pressed upwards as if to leverage the train. Causing causing the metal to weaken and be cut and likely putting pressure on the fastenings around it possibly fracturing the metal at weaker points. The wheel was simply that, a wheel, however to a machine Digimon it likely correlated to a broken foot for a human. Forcing the trailmon to try to keep pressure off of the injured appendage.
"All right. There isn't anything here that doesn't look fixable, but I need to feel along your axle to make sure nothing else is fractured. Tell me if anywhere I touch hurts. Do NOT try to be a tough guy." Cas explained reaching out to feel along the pole with gentle, but firm hands. "You're lucky we caught this. If you'd gone too long the metal would have given way and likely snarled in your other wheels or scraped along your underside." The Doctor adds keeping a close eye her patient not entirely trusting that despite her order that Tetsu won't attempt to downplay his injury.

"Why thank you," Eito quips 'sweetly', imitating a curtsey. Meanwhile, Tetsu laughs his head off - figuratively, as the scanner only shows minor damage to the area under one of his detachable horns and it doesn't even need fixing."Dangit boss, you're a real goofball sometimes! Hahah..hff..."
Perhaps the damage was greater than Tetsu thought... or perhaps he knew and was hiding it for some reason. Either way, it looked bad. Not unfixable, not fatal or critical, but surely it would have been better if he tended to it or just stayed off it before it got this bad. Cas was right about the broken wheel being like a broken foot. He's been 'walking' on a very injured 'foot' all this time.
"Ghrk... yeh... it is ow... just the wheel and axle I think..." Tetsu groans as they are touched. The rest of the underside seemed okay. "Will this take too long? I got work to do..."
