It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon on the Shibuya Schools campus. It was Saturday so usual lessons weren't in session, but there still students and faculty on campus, whether studying or just hanging out.
"Alrightio," A young fourteen year old cheers in a British accent as he steps foot onto the school campus for the first time, "I cannot believe that I am actually here..."
"Get a hold of yourself, Johan," The boy's Digimon partner, Kapurimon, said from inside of his backpack. "Shibuya High is just another high school, like the ones you had in America, just with a different yearly schedule and uniforms... you have your uniform, don't you?"
"Well... no..." Johan admits, sweating a bit, "but that's one of the reasons why we're here, to come get it and to explore campus a little bit. Don't want to be lost on my first day, after all."
"Just don't go asking random kids about Digimon, okay? We don't even know if there are any here in Japan yet."

Not the roof, not the back of the class, not some stairwell he could ruin his back on. No, instead Sho found himself reading at a tree near the entrance for as much familiarity as possible. But even there, he felt like he could barely pay attention to the book as anything that laid beyond it. With all the new things to look out for swirling inside his head, it was no wonder he was being pushed into every situation he never wanted to find himself in.
It was so easy to blithely grin at how it bugged him. The snide insect of a thought that this made some kind of "narrative sense". His eyes followed the fruit fly currently buzzing about before he could shut it between the pages of his book and stop the actual noise. Sho couldn't have convinced himself more that he was going crazy. And the digivice that sat by him in the open seemed to only be a sign of that. In his mind, all that would do is attract trouble.
That was also funny. How he'd begun developing an appetite for trouble on top of his actual hunger for the moment.
To satisfy both, he simply sat back retrieved a lunchbox of baby carrots and began fiddling with his digivice, trying to find every function while his attention slowly spread itself between that, and eating, and anything new coming in...Like a fresh face. A fresh face with fresh features his eyes could only describe as foreign...Even he was beginning to find himself odd for trying to put the faces from people at school to memory, but it was so helpful now; He could identify the face as completely new.
"Hey, are you new here? You seem lost or horribly late." Sho spoke over to him in his slightly sour Japanese tongue. He still wore the school atire he put on quite liberally, feeling his glasses slide down his face as he moved forward slightly from the tree to speak towards him. For a second he wasn't sure if it was his voice coming out of his mouth...

"Oh?" Johan thought he heard a voice just now. He turned around to see a kid that seemed to be his age, wearing glasses as he read some book beside a tree. Of course, Kapurimon hid himself inside Johan's backpack, and tried his very hardest to not be revealed to this stranger.
"Oy, hello," Johan greeted them in Japanese, which seemed oddly fluent considering he definitely did not look like he was Japanese at all, "I'm a new transfer student here. Name's Johan. I came down to check out the school, possibly get my uniform as well. Do you know where I can get it?"
If Sho could pick up anything about this kid, it was that he seemed way too excited about being here. But there would also be something else Sho might notice...
A strange blue device sticking out of Johan's pant pocket.

This fresh face and all too eager demeanor made Sho's eyes want to dart and wander about the boy's figure. Pushing up his glasses, he murmured as if in thought while he observed all he could see. Gulping, he allowed the curiosity to flutter for a moment so that he could make it an invisible feature on his face. That way he could respond easier with a grin.
"They sell it in a store near here. You might be interested in going there." Sho followed up on his question, standing and going up to him to properly shake hands, pocketing his own device snugly in his pocket so that he could avoid the situation this boy would soon run into. Pointing his finger to his pocket, he stood straight so he didn't look too much like a mess who'd had his back up against a tree since school ended. "You might also be interested in putting your digivice all the way in your pocket. The model is very recognizable, trust me." He scoffed and took his hand back, sighing.
"Geez, I sound uptight! I don't even know your name. I'm Sho Tsuginaga. Might seem a bit loony round this time, but I'm only kinda curious." He tried to put on his best grin without mirroring that crooked and devilish one he always managed to show. Extending his hand, he used the other to push up his glasses, still looking at him with inquiring eyes.
"I don't know how much we'll see each other, so I might as well take the time to meet you." Sho continued, taking the time to fix his cuff before putting his other hand back.

Oh, so uniforms weren't found at the actual school itself... come on, Johan was supposed to be smart, he should have known about this! "Er... thank you, mate. I'll be sure to-" He then was interrupted by the kid to tell him to properly pocket his Digivice.
Both Johan and Kapurimon tensed up when he heard him say that. "Oh crap, I didn't even realize!" He quickly said as he properly put the Digivice in his pocket. Then he looked back up at the kid. "Wait a second... are you Digidestined, too?"
The kid finally introduced himself as Sho Tsuginaga, while grinning in a way that Johan thought was a tad ominous, just a tad. He then decided it was his turn to introduce himself, as well. "My name's Johan Walker. I sound British, but that's because my parents are. I was actually born in America, but I recently transferred here. And don't worry about it, because I have a photographic memory, so I'll always remember this. Anyways, my partner's with me as well, but this isn't the place to meet him, I don't think."
I can't believe how much of a chatterbox this kid is, Kapurimon thought from Johan's backpack as he sweatdrops.

Blinking, Sho stepped back a bit with a hand behind his back as he looked towards Johan for one last look over and a slight bow. "Digidestined" rung out in his mind as something wholly new, unlike his understanding that the boy was a Tamer of some kind. Certainly not as typical as the backpack where his Digimon surely was. It could hear them then, right? Sho nearly thought of stammering, but instead went ahead with his colder voice. That was the character he'd portray...
"That term seems quite pedantic. Too many implications, that's what I think..." Sho began, tapping his chin as he watched Johan's face behind his glasses. "At any rate, I'm a wholly different case. I don't think many of the cautions you should take apply to me..." He stopped, nodding and putting his smile back on, willing to say that he'd gotten the boy's demeanor within his own memory. "This is school anyway, I doubt anyone's going to be bringing out their Digimon." Sho shrugged with a chuckle, straightening his glasses back to where they should be.
"You'll be fine. I mean, there are more of us at the school than you think..." He assured him, popping out a book he was going to read and flipping through a bit so that he could find where he'd been and save that in his memory as well. Even if he was only going to use it as a front to think about something, he had to make sure that was done anyway.
"Though, I do have several other curiosities about you. I have confirmation that there are gateways in other parts of the world now, y'know!" Sho grinned, letting that sense of excitement he had over take him a small bit. "I certainly wonder if you could've taken the Trailmon system here...Or if your portion of the Digital World is any different than ours." He began to absentmindedly number them on his slightly bony fingers, still seemingly lost in thought.

A different case? What did Sho mean by that? Kapurimon told Johan that there were humans who had partnered up with Digimon. Were there other digital beings different from Tamers?
Sho let Johan know to not worry, and implied that there were loads of Tamers coming to this school. "Other Tamers? Here?! I thought I was the only one, since I was back in America... then again, I met Kapurimon a week before I left."
"I know you have a curious mind," Kapurimon says from Johan's backpack, "but the way you speak can frighten others, you know. Just keep that in mind."
"Apologies, Kapurimon..." Johan then unzipped his backpack to pick up the Digimon, which was seemingly a fox-like ball with a horned helmet on. "Hopefully, people will think he's just some stuffed animal... Sho, this is Kapurimon."
"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance," Kapurimon tells Sho politely, although he did not smile even once.

Sho returned the favor with another slight bow and a manufactured giggle before his face loses its fervor and grin. He matched Kapurimon's expression with a similar "Likewise." to answer him. He flashed his Digivice with a bit of a squint before pocketing it again, fumbling slightly and having to make sure it was all the way in with a disgruntled huff. "Please don't mistake me here, there aren't a ton of us but other people will certainly notice if you have him out for too long. I've seen it, believe me." Sho warned with the mousey tone of a nervous joker.
"Anyway, I hope you saw how different my device is. That's a part of it, and I'm still trying to figure out all the others." He shook his head, wondering if he should mention his exact ability while in his presence. If anything he knew that the Digimon spoke the truth about his partner. There really did seem to be some sense of closeness between a Tamer and their Digimon. It put him in a daze for a second before he could pass it off with another nod.
"How did you end up in the Digital World so shortly before you transferred? It'll probably be a tamer tale than mine. But, I don't think I'll tire of hearing the stories of others...fuels my mind with all kinds of thoughts. Plus it's always nice to hear firsthand accounts!" Sho inquired, seemingly a bit less tense in stance than he did earlier.
Hearing stories honestly filled his mind with a lot of things, a lot of feelings he hadn't thought he'd feel again. No matter what it always seemed to bring light to some greater part of his mind. Ever eager, he let his foot tap along, hoping to hear something he could learn from...

Johan makes a neutral face after seeing how Kapurimon introduced himself to Sho. You could smile more, you know... He thought a bit bitterly. He then saw Sho reply in the same manner and he couldn't tell if Sho was mocking Kapurimon or if he was being serious.
Kapurimon was confused on that front, as well, as his face visibly morphed into a confused expression. His face went back to its neutral state when Sho warned them about him being out in the open for too long. "I agree. The last thing I wish to do is cause some kind of panic amongst you humans."
Johan extended his hand out towards Sho. "May I see your device? I want to make note of the differences between mine and yours."
Sho asked how Johan got to the Digital World. "Actually, I never went to the Digital World. A week ago, I get home from shopping with me mum, and there's this strange egg on my desk chair, where my computer usually is. That evening, the egg hatched, and Kapurimon came out... as a MetalKoromon."

The device Sho had gladly retrieved from his pocket to show off was of a greater size and its casing took on a maroon hue around a jet black. The light tops of pink hearts could barely be seen between his fingers as he held it. Although, Sho had things to compare this to, and he was quite certain this was only the second device the other boy had seen if his story was straight. Though he narrowed his eyes, he softened his expression, not wanting that kind of feeling on his mind.
"Compare all you like, but the fact that you haven't been to the digital world is surprising...I wasn't there when I got this connection, this ability either. But, it should be said that nothing can really compare to a whole other world." He spoke with slight exasperation, eyes light with reverie before calling himself back to attention. But to think, finding a Digimon's egg on your desk?
The digital gateway of his computer must've been enough. It was bewildering to think the veil was that thin. That the distance between mundane and fantastic was so short. Sho began again, putting away his digivice in case he was tempted to demonstrate. "Being perfectly honest, I got mine almost being struck by lightning." He recounted with another chuckle.
Trying to wrap his head around anything was starting to get funnier and funnier.
"Really turned my day upside down. Probably another thing to list on unfathomable experiences. That and my flip phone being turned into my Digivice." He looked a bit to the side, trying to avoid the afternoon sun in his eyes. And the gaze of others to a smaller extent. "That and the Tsukaimon I saw in the river right before it happened." Sho widened his eyes, letting himself recall more.
"I chose to use the Trailmon system for anymore exposure to the Digital World from then on...But it really was a beautiful river when I went there! Especially in rain..." Sho put on that crooked grin again, wondering why that old joke was the only thing he remembered.

Johan ooh'd and aaah'd as he observed Sho's peculiar Digivice. "My Digivice looks almost nothing like this one... speaking of which, where is your Digimon partner?"
"Johan, that model is the D-Tector variant," Kapurimon matter-of-factly told Johan, "which must mean this one is a bit different from others like you... he must be a Spirit User, a human with the power to turn into a Digimon themselves."
"That's incredible... I kind of wish I could do that."
"I most likely wouldn't be around if you could."
"Yeah, that's true..." Johan listened to more of what Sho had to say. "Your flip phone became that Digivice? Wait, who even uses flip phones anymore? Nowadays, everyone I see has an iPhone, or a Samsung or anything that has a touch screen."
As fun as this talk was, Johan remembered the reason he came here. "Can you give me a tour of the school, please? It's part of the reason I came here today."

The satisfaction on his face was only temporary, giving way to a shrug and beginning his pace once again. "Flip phones are functional. I don't need a lot, and having this kind of power seems like a greater bargain." Sho explained, turning up his nose and beginning to lead Johan into the school. His partner seemed like the knowledgeable type, but Sho was certain he'd soon know more. At least he could know more about that place than he did his own school.
"Follow along. This should be pretty quick and easy if you do." Sho indulged Johan in a little bit of reassurance as he entered the school proper. Though this tour would be helpful for him too, he couldn't help but wonder how he could use this place to get more out of the new arrival. After all, he got tiny basic bits of bite-sized information. No point in not going for the whole feast. "Did you do any research about Japanese schools before you came here? It still sounds like you haven't gotten enough culture shock in your system." Sho inquired, looking around the still familiar entrance and front offices.
He couldn't help but feel like some kind of elder leading Johan through here.
And like some old, inflexible crone, he couldn't shake the feeling Johan might have something ugly about him. Sho went ahead and turned to him with an amiable face anyway. Making peace with that feeling would only be possible by learning about him, right? "Where'd you like to go first? Don't exactly have a plan for this kind of trip...We might actually have a committee for stuff like this, but as you'd think we wouldn't get many new people asking for tours at this hour." Sho scratched his head, looking at least a bit bashful about something this impromptu.

"I never said they were bad, mind you," Johan told Sho, referring to the flip phone. "I was just pointing out a fact. These days, flip phones are indeed cheaper than the smartphones on the market. Useful for when all you want is a way to call your friends and family."
"Johan, you might want to put me back into the backpack," Kapurimon tells his partner. Johan nodded and did as he asked, giving the little Digimon air to breathe by leaving the backpack slightly open.
Then Sho asked if Johan did any research on Japanese culture. "Is it that obvious? I didn't get much time to research since my family wanted to spend more time with me before I moved away... luckily I have a photographic memory, so I can do a quick run of information back in my dorm. And I would love to see how the various classrooms look."
It was then that Sho would notice that Johan didn't have a proper left arm, instead he had a prosthetic one.

That odd bulge at the base of Johan's arms was starting to stick out more and more...especially as Sho noticed how he put away his partner. His intuition was more than enough to decipher some of what this new arrival might be about, but he still couldn't get it in his head to trust whatever he was saying as the entire truth, even if it wasn't even a lie. It would all come in due time. Sho just tried not to mention it while he rubbed his chin, processing his thoughts.
"It ain't very hard to see you're a foreigner. I mean, even just how you carry yourself, it isn't Japanese in the slightest." Sho lowered his eyes and smirked along with his half-joking words. He was sure none of that made any sense, but it was at least cheering him up. "I'll just try and lead you down this floor at least. Your classes are probably on the next one, but from your perspective I'd bet it wouldn't hurt to be too familiar." Sho began to walk, charting out his plan for this conversation while they crossed the floors of the school. There had to be a way to satiate his curiosity...
"If I'm not being too presumptuous, did you move in alone? It doesn't sound like you came here with anybody." Sho began his curt inquisition as he led him down the lettered hallway, pointing out the classrooms and the teachers that he could remember. "At any rate, you'll certainly be fine here. Everyone at this school is quite amiable compared to my last one, so there's that." Sho assured circling back to go towards the other end of the floor.
"Still, in case you find anyone like us around here, try not to point it out too quickly. You just seemed really new, so I treated the whole thing g with some leniency." He shrugged, continuing his walk. "And...If you find anyone like me...could you let me know? That would really help." Sho snuck in that small request, still wondering if he'd even be able to recognize one at a glance.

"Oh, is how I carry myself the dead giveaway?" Johan joked with Sho. "Not my hair? My face? My beautiful British accent?" He chuckled, mainly to himself after saying this. "But yeah, I'm a pretty obvious foreigner. I've always wanted to see Japan for myself. And don't worry, I'm sure I'll find my way around the school in no time."
The question of Johan's roommate situation then came up. "Yeah, I'm alone here... I'm currently living in the dorms of this school here, at the moment, and I'm happy with it. No family troubles to worry about, you know? I'm sure I'll be able to make SOME new friends here, at least."
"Anyone like you?" Johan asked, a bit puzzled by Sho's request. "You mean someone who can turn into a Digimon, right? Sure, if I ever do see another Spirit User, I'll let you know. You have a Facebook, right? Twitter? Instagram? Any kind of social media?"
