Adri and newfound partner, Kouta found themselves wandering ambitiously through the seemingly endless thicket of trees known as Server Woods. They had been walking for about an hour before her tiny blob-like partner began to complain. “Come on, can we eat yet. You’re starving me.”
The further they walked, the darker and more enclosed, the forest seemed to grow. The plant-life, nothing like that on her own world, grew large, thorned and wild. Even the trees were growing more gnarled and ancient as they walked. The canopy of trees above hit the sun from view, casting a wide shadow, making it difficult to see the knotted roots which crisscrossed across the forest floor. “I don’t know, Kouta. This doesn’t really feel like the right place to eat, you know?”
Above the complaints that came from the tiny partner clutched in her arms, odd shadows and rustling noises came from the environment around them. It was almost as if they were being watched. “Look, we can eat soon but I think we better keep walking. I don’t like it here.”
As such, they continued walking – Adri trying to braver than she felt and Kouta, only just managing not to complain. However, the internals of the forest were growing even more dangerous. At one portion, the time was almost completely extinguished by the overgrown canopy cast by an ancient oak tree.
So dark, Adri didn’t see it coming.
A thick, cold voice emanating from the darkness. “Poison Thread.” A thick rope seem to spin itself out of nowhere around Adri’s wrist and began to pull her, quite like a fish on a hook, deeper into the forest. Adri screamed; an undeniably terrified scream of pure terror. Kouta fell from her arms to the ground below. Adri tried to fight back and managed to pull a little, slowing the progress. “Let me go,” she cried.
However, another spin of string seemed to fire from nowhere and tie itself around her ankle and her waist, dragging her with even more force. Adri fell, knocked off her feet by the pulling of what as she was pulled closer, was webbing. In the distance, a giant domed web glistened in the darkness, only barely visible, due to its pale white strings. Sitting in the heart of the web, sat a giant spider. Its body was massive, with long-haired legs. The helmeted mouth glistened with spit as they drew in. The pincers clicked menacingly with each movement and the nine eyes flashed.
“Dinner. Delicious dinner,” It said simply, the pincers clicking with each word. “Poison Cobweb.” The oversized spider fired a great blast of poison from its mouth. Only thanks to her athleticism were she able to roll away, just in time. “Let me go, you ugly--”
“Ugly, am I?” The Spider said, pulling the girl in and up into the air and hanging her upside down. “I am Dokugumon. I am hungry.”
Out of nowhere, a stream of glowing, red bubbles struck the Dokugumon in the eyes and caused Adri to fall a few inches from the grasp of the web. It didn’t seem to do anything as the Dokugumon just laughed and clicked with greater ferocity.
