Some rules before you join: - Anyone can join, from Rookie to Super Mega and equivalent, but be warned, circumstances may put you at a disadvantage. - Evolution is limited to Rookie and Armor Champion only. Any evolutions above this level will fail [Tamers/Solos]. - For Spirit Wielders, evolution is limited to Sprite and Human Fragment forms. - For Xros Generals, you may not fuse your digimon in any way. - I will be posting every 7 days. Please make sure that you post before the deadline, or you risk your turn being skipped. - Combat is highly likely, so come prepared. - Participants will be capped at 5 players. So far these positions have been reserved for Zyborg, Keen, Deathfrye, Martian and Seabass. Ready? Let's go.
The brisk cold night wind blew hard against Owen's face as he flew over the heights of the Western Flatlands. While ordinarily this land was hot and dry, at night, the temperatures could get quite cold, especially when the winds were blowing down from the North. But he wouldn't let this be an impediment, not to the former Captain of the 7/71st Recon batallion. The Gaomon was dressed in his now usual outfit - Cion's red bandana tied on his forehead, a khaki battle tunic worn over his torso, displaying the various emblems and regalia of the old world that he had once belonged to, boxing gloves over his paws, and a new pair of sunglasses over his amber eyes. Yes, not much use at night, but they at least provided shielding to the cold wind. As for how he was travelling, his good friend and old comrade Quill the Halsemon was providing flight for this trip. In a way, Owen was glad that he had received the news in time. That another Control Spire had been seen in this new area - the Shining Sea. This would finally be his chance to see one up close, now that so many had appeared around the digital world. But still, he had heeded warnings from his friends Colin, Luke and Bellamy about its potency. The Control Spire technology was advancing all the time, seemingly by these two manevolent digimon that seemed to be responsible for them. Well, this time, he intended to sight the danger for himself, and if possible, bring this new one down. Eventually, they passed over the mountain range that separated the Western Flatlands from the Shining Sea and were presented with a most beautiful sight from below and above. The "Shining Sea" below sure proved up to its name. Crystal sands and towers glowed in the starlight from above. And in the skies above them, curtains of aurora cascaded with exquisite motion. "Well, Quill, if there's a fight ahead, looks like it's gonna be a scenic one" the Gaomon remarked. Then, up ahead, there they saw it. A massive dark edifice, nearing two hundred feet in height. Made of black material, yet glowing with a blue-cyan curtain of light, as though powered by the aurora curtains above. This was it. The Control Spire.
"Ye gods..." Owen muttered. Seeing this tower up close, it was a sure big feeling to approach. But, he felt that it was his duty to investigate it in total. "Let's set down for a landing, Quill" he suggested to the Halsemon, and hopefully they would glide in for a landing for a closer inspection.
OOC: Basically first post, gather toward the area. No combat's going to happen in the opening phase.

You know, this was probably the prettiest part of the Digital World that Naoko had seen thus far, rivaling the Sunken Elysium.
Yet....She and Titania weren't specifically here for the sights. There was a problem here. Titania had heard something of a spire. It was actually a good time to go look, too. The coldness of the area meant Naoko's hoodie was actually useful for something. The other worrying thing?
Titania was quiet.
Unusually so. So much that it was Naoko breaking silence for once. "...Hey, look..." She pointed over and away from them. There was a spire and someone...or a party of people gliding around it.
If ever there was a time to feel small? This was it. The Tinkermon moved to Naoko's shoulder and stared at it. "...There it is..." She mumbles.

He had heard of these problems that the world seemed to be having as of late; small bits of information that slipped through the cracks about these things and others. He was worried for the state of his home; worried about the state of the world in general. But learning of the tower's destruction so long ago back in dragon valley only made Vaughan irritable about it since he was unable to participate at that time due to some work that had come up.
But now with his information quite clearly giving him a lead about this sort of thing the Agumon-x managed to set out into the frozen north. It wasn't exactly his style going up this far in the digital world. For a dinosaur such as himself the cold was a biting force that made every movement pain. If his hide wasn't as thick perhaps he'd have it worse off.
The soft crunching of snow as he crested a mountain gifted with the sight of the Shining sea. Normally a breathtaking scene, one that would inspire awe for many but he wasn't here to see sights. No he was here to do a job that few would take; few would risk and even fewer would walk away from.
"Sovereigns give me strength..."
The agumon could see the tower from where he stood, it looked far smaller and insignificant in comparison to what he was expecting but considering how big it looked from this far away well... That just meant that it was larger than the others that he had heard about right? Or were all of these towers the same damn size?
The digimon started his trek down the mountain letting out a little grunt as he noticed someone passing overhead. Staring upwards he could see a pair of digimon; both looked strikingly familiar and Vaughan found himself shocked to see someone he was pretty sure he recognized. The Agumon-x gritted his teeth and tore after the two, with intent of speaking with the two of them.
What's boss doing here? Is that Quill? Are they here to deal with that thing?

As Quill flew toward the Shining Sea, he thought about the mission at hand as Owen had presented it to him. Apparently, lately there were these strange structures appearing in the Digital World that blocked the evolution of Digimon past the Rookie level. It seemed that the only way past the jamming signal was to Armor Digivolve, though it didn't have the level of impact as a regular Champion.
At least the locale was beautiful. "Very true, Captain," Quill agreed. "If we weren't here on business, I would have liked to take a look around, myself."
Finally, they found what they were looking for. A menacing obsidian obelisk that stretched high into the sky. Just looking at it gave Quill a strange, suppressive feeling. Owen reccomended they land, and Quill silently agreed. He gently took them down to the ground a safe distance away from the Spire. It seemed a few other humans and Digimon were gathering as well. This was shaping up to be very interesting.

"This is demeaning." Dagger grumbled out over the roar of Behemoth's engine as the demonic bike tore across the pale sands and flashed past floating glowing crystals towards the looming black spike ahead. The spike of course being the target of their investigation as the Zubamon shifted behind his Tamer where he clung to her back. He and his twin both brought low from their normal forms to these lesser stages as the Kotemon sat in front of the Doctor trying his best not to hyperventilate from both the speed at which they were going and the fact his ability to protect their Tamer had been severely limited.
Not that either of the wouldn't die trying to guard her. Dagger especially as the Zubamon winced at his twins distress knowing already he had much to make up for for his failures.
"These lesser forms are necessary. You would lose your higher forms either way the second we crossed into it's zone." The Doctor spoke her words clipped, her tone devoid of emotion from within her helmet as she pulled up before the rest of the group. Sparing the demonic bike a single hesitant stroke as if unsure why she even felt the need to give such a gesture unable to recall the reason for such affection before Behemoth departed with a low worried whine and a scream of wheels. Leaving the team to their own devices as the Doctor carefully activated her holosuit before removing her helmet. It would be tedious if she was delayed in her research because the others were too busy gawking at her appearance.

It always came back to the tundra, didn't it?
Elliot slowly rose from the kneeling position he had waited in, wings unfurlimg around him as he looked from his current mountain perch to the crystalline sands below. Locked on the other side of the rain shadow effect, a lack of the snow from the other parts of the Northern Prominence left this part of the Digital World little more than a gleaming desert. It still wasn't the ideal, and its northernmost position would leave it every bit as frigid as the Tundras to its east, but it was a fairly breathtaking part of the Digital World. Frankly, Elliot was floored that he had missed it on his previous flyovers. If he and Mana ever resumed that tour of the Digital World, he'd have to point her here.
If only sightseeing were today's goal. Instead, surrpunded by soft plumes of diamond dust that danced around its surface, Elliot found himself looking at a massive black spire. Shadowy energy almost seemed to crackle around it, but Elliot was sure that it was just the night air and reflective sands playing tricks on his eye. It towered at heights that threatened even Terminus' largest buildings, and it almost seemed to glare down imposingly at the glassy sands below.
Rinji had warned him about these. They took the power right out of a Digimon, leaving them forced to their most basic form. For Elliot, would this be humanity? Frankly, he didn't want to take the chance. He'd keep to MagnaAngemon for now and see where the Spire left him. At least that way, he would at least be on guard in case of the worst.
His plan set, Elliot spread his wings and dove into the night.

As they landed, Owen disembarked from Quill's back, giving acknowledgement of a good job with a gentle pat on his shoulder and a "thanks, Corporal". He too noted that others were gathering in the night. While it may have been better to come here in the day, well, news of these towers were spreading fast now, and it had to be dealt with as quickly as possible. Not like there wasn't a shortage of light though. And Owen wasn't personally bothered, what with his thick blue and white fur protecting him from the cold.
Owen looked around at the gathered group. He counted two humans, a MagnaAngemon (which confused him because he thought the tower was meant to block evolution to Perfect), a Kotemon and Zubamon that seemed to be partnered to one of the humans, and a small Tinkermon to one of the others. Also present, other than himself and Quill, was a digimon he recognized. "Oh hey, it's Vaughan!" the Gaomon exclaimed, so pleased to see the Agumon-X here that his tail wagged slightly. That would be the one he would greet first.
"Hi, Vaughan, glad you could make it, mate" he said, offering first a salute, then a paw shake. He was only expecting two of the 7/71st to be present to take down this tower, but now there were three.
With that, Owen would wave the others in the area over to talk about the plan of attack.
"Gudday everyone!" he would call out once they were within speaking distance. "So then, I take it you're all here to take down this control spire, yeah?"

"If by spire you mean that...thing in the distance? Yeah. Yeah, we're here for that. Might be a little underwhelming but we're here to help." Naoko stated with...holy crap! Is that CONFIDENCE coming from her? That's shocking! Though she wasn't quite sure what to expect...
"Undergunned, yep. I can't digivolve. So, I need to think and move fast." Titania grumbled. "Also, since my dork of a vassal forgot to introduce herself, I'm Titania and this is Naoko, we're here to break metal and look cool while doing it."
Was that actually necessary? No. But Titania decided to do that anyways. Naoko meanwhile kept watch over the spire....

Quill allowed Owen to get off his back and stood at attention while he addressed the others. As he looked around, he took stock of their company. Other than himself and the Captain, there seemed to be three humans and a multitude of Digimon. One Digimon, however, made him break his attention immediately.
"Vaughan, my old friend!" he exclaimed. "It has been far too long! It's great to see that you are still out and about!" He wasn't sure if Vaughan would recognize him since this "Armor Evolution" was new to him, but maybe he could figure it out if he recognized the Captain.
In any case, it was time to talk strategy. The one named Titania stated that she was unable to Digivolve. "I can feel the oppresive aura coming from the spire," Quill noted, "but I still have the ability to stay in my Armor form. If any of you can make use of that ability, I highly reccomend it!"

"Our own forms are limited to what you see here as our armored forms appear to be too advanced." Cloak murmured the Kotemon eyeing the collective group with curiosity along with his twin. Cas however regarded the group with muted consideration seeming to be sizing up them up and quietly crunching the numbers for the fight ahead.
"I can provide medical aid and assistance with cards. We have experience downing towers and would prefer to concentrate on tacking the tower itself while whatever armored forms keep the guardian busy." The Doctor spoke her voice clipped, emotionless, business like. Lacking the usual warmth the woman's tone typically held as her gaze drifted from the group cold blue orbs narrowing as she spied the telltale sight of a familiar MagnaAngemon that didn't yet appear to have hit the towers evolutionary barrier. However would his lesser forms be able to fly? Or was she about to witness a rapid descent.

Slowly, yet with an almost graceful sureness to him, the MagnaAngemon descended down from the skies. His wings spread wide, both to catch the air currents that would lead him down and to cast a soft glow to ease the worries of those below. He prepared to speak, wondering what he would say as he took his side by them. Judging by how the group congregated at least half of them seemed like old comrades. Would he be able to properly fit in, or would he simply take his role by their side and put business before pleasure?
All of these thoughts found themselves quickly extinguished as the MagnaAngemon's form disappeared in a snap, replaced simply with one.
Oh, crapbaskets.
The MagnaAngemon's body basically shattered into fragments of light, leaving only a Veemon about a third of its size to take the fall. Elliot blinked, not quite sure what was happening, before plummeting right down to earth. His wings gone, he was left flailing his arms and letting out a panicked shout as he tried to get his bearings. He mixed in a quick "Oh hi there Cas!" on the way down, mixed almost comically in with his scream as he continued to accelerate down towards the ground below.
Finally, he landed. It was a lot softer than he had figured, even if he was still quite dazed from the impact. Groggily, he looked up, only to realize that Cas actually was standing right in front of him. Sure, he had seen her on the way down, but a panicked call out when falling was a lot different from actually processing what had went on. He sprung off of the little mound of blue grass that he had landed on, beaming. ". . . Wait, it is you! And you've got Digimon too!" he cheered. "How've you be-"
Wait, Blue grass? That didn't make any sense. Looking down, Elliot realized that he had fallen on the poor Gaomon that was leading this expedition. Immediately he scrambled over to help Owen up. "Oh no, I'm so sorry," he stammered. "Are you okay?"
So much for a noble entrance!

OOC: It's been over a week, so I'm skipping Vaughan, sorry.
Owen took in the names and faces of those who had introduced themselves. There was Naoko and Titania, as well as a Doctor and her Zubamon and Kotemon partners. "Well, hey there anyways" Owen said. "I'm Owen, Captain of the 7/71st Recon. Not a part of an army anymore, but, we still aim to use our power to help those in the digital world that need it. And in my opinion, the innocent of the digital world sure don't need that thing over there" he scowled at the tower.
Quill mentioned that armor evolution still seemed to work, which was good to know. "I can also armor digivolve" the Gaomon added. He would stay in his rookie form for the moment though to save energy, which sounded like a good idea... up until all of a sudden he was knocked to the ground by a falling Veemon.
"Agh!" he yelped, landing on his face. While the crystalline sands below were soft enough to not render him seriously hurt, well, it was just the indignity of it all. Here he was trying to make a good impression with a decent pep-talk, and then suddenly being set on the field in face-down position, well, it just wasn't good optics now was it?
At least the Veemon apologized and helped him up. "Ah, thanks, there, mate" Owen said, getting back upright. He brushed the sand off his tunic and fur, looking at the little dragon. "So, I take it you've figured out what that tower over there does, eh?" he asked, trying to sound good-humoured. It'd take a bit more than being struck by a dragon to keep him down in any case.
"Anyways, I'm Owen, this is Quill and Vaughan" he quickly introduced themselves. Once they were all acquainted, they'd be ready to head over to the tower. Owen frowned at it, he couldn't yet see its guardian. Yet he could somehow feel a presence that filled him with trepidation.

OOC Post:
Alright, so, I understand that a thread with so many members can be kinda tricky to manage, so, I'd like to announce a change in how it's run.
From now on there will be no posting order. From now on, after each post I make, whoever feels like posting can do so.
After the next round, those that haven't posted after 7 days will be skipped. So, hopefully with this in mind, we can continue this thread in a timely manner.

Well, if these towers locked evolution beyond using a Digimental up, Naoko realized that Titania was more or less stuck as a rookie, as a result. "...While it's super duper nice to meet you and all, that news is far from reassuring in the slightest...Anyways, I'm Naoko and this is Titania."
"Hi, yes, I'm...a little worried about the operation proper now, thanks to that stipulation, but I think I should be alright if I keep my wits and...pick my shots wisely, I guess." It said something when even the fairy of all people, the fairy that feared almost nothing, was afraid.

OOC: Just letting people know, I was serious about posting every 7 days. I feel somewhat disappointed about skipping 4 people. I hope we can do better this week.
Owen turned to look up at Naoko and her partner Titania. "Okay, that's good to hear that you know about it at least" he said. The Gaomon looked over at the tower in thought. "To be frank, yeah, we're gonna have to take this all seriously. From what I've heard of these things, we're going to be up against superior opponents. So we would have to make every hit count".
The strategic options were something of a dilemma. "If what I've heard is right, we can either concentrate our fire on the guardians and break their dark rings, or we can focus on destroying the tower and removing its influence over them. At least, that's what I've heard from previous battles".
Owen glanced at the others. "I guess we can't make a decision until we know what we're up against. But, at the very least, we've got something of an open battlefield, so, not much out there they could have that we can't see". Other than the dark tower and the giant glowing crystals, it would seem that the battlefield would hold few secrets. At least, that was what Owen hoped. But he had no reason to assume otherwise.
