The Way You Make Me Feel [Haru]

The Ayumi Mobile rode over the vast hills of the Network Plains, carrying precious cargo with it. Ayumi got better and better at pinpointing fossil beds, and she had once again hit pay dirt. With two very well preserved fossils, she was on her way to the Library. She had called ahead, both so that Usako could prepare the lab, and to get someone to help her move these old bones. They were surely heavy! "So, who replied to my query for help? Was it Yuki? I bet it was Yuki!" Solomon, who was sitting on the driver's seat, pulled out his partner's Digivice, and looked at the screen. "Ah, no, Yuki excused herself, her job place is having a sale so she has to work. However, Haru offered her help." Haru? Ayumi was surprised. But hey, she liked Haru, she was really nice, and almost as pretty as Yuki! ...why her mind interjected that, she had no idea. She just concentrated on driving towards the huge, looming library!

Haru had been patient with avoiding pushing herself or Tawna too much under the guidance of Mikemon. She was still trying to recover from the incident back at the Northern Prominence, her body still not quite up to par... after all, it had left her out of the picture for an entire week, and Tawna had to hatch out of an egg again... Overall, it kinda had left them both beings, though they both were trying their best to recuperate.
Blast her eyesight though... Her vision was left more laughable than some eighty-year old man with glasses. The culprit? The girl's pupils had been mutilated into a shape decidedly inhuman... cross-shaped pupils, just like a Meicoomon... a reminder of the dangers of staying in a Biomerge for too long.
Still, even now she was trying to continue to make herself useful for the club... If there was one sentiment Haru and Tawna both shared, it was that they hated sitting around. Offering to help Ayumi with maybe loading some fossils from a dig site they had found into the library's storage rooms was just one way she was hoping to continue contributing to the club on her off-time.
For now, Haru was just sitting outside the entrance of the huge library, Tawna in their Meicoomon form taking a catnap in the sun... Though it didn't take long for Haru to catch the sight of Ayumi's vehicle off in the distance. The goggle-wearing girl lightly smiled as she stood up, waving towards the machine and it's driver.

Upon spotting Haru wave, Ayumi waved back. The black vehicle slowed down as it approached the library, and came to a stop in front of the cat and her owner. "Hi Haru, hi Tawna! Thanks so much for helping us!" Ayumi hopped out of the car, bowing at her. Solomon, too, got out and bowed. "Yes, this is most gracious of you, thank you." Then the two went to the back and opened the trunk to reveal their precious cargo: Multiple fossils, among them a large skull and two plates with fossils on them. "So how have you two been? Haven't seen you in a while!" She then noticed Haru's ocular situation. "...ah! What happened to your eyes???"

As soon as the vehicle pulled up, Haru smiled a bit dorkily as she gave a courteous bow to the club's resident genius, happy to see appreciation for wanting to help. Admittingly she has had not had terribly many interactions with the albino, but she still considered them and everyone else in the club dear friends... Hearing that they even took notice of her absense somewhat recently touched her heart a bit, if just cause it made her feel like there were others that cared about her as well. "Glad to help Ayumi! I'm sorry if its been a bit out of the picture recently, wasn't feeling well at all. I'm pretty fine now though!" the girl pluckily spoke, though did awkwardly flinch as Ayumi took notice of their eyes. "Ohh... Uh, didn't the doctor give you the memo?"
Tawna had finally arisen from their sleep, letting out a sleepy yawn (it sounding like a mew) and briefly began to lick their paws. "Long story short, minor data leakage from a Biomerge. Not much to do but try to live with it I guess... Sorry, change is just something us Digimon kinda take for granted, but I get you humans don't exactly shed your forms entirely to become anew." they briefly explained, though their look became a bit more solemn as they gazed at Haru and Ayumi... a feeling of guilt due to realizing they were partly responsible for Haru's now slightly-messed up genes.
"Eh... It isn't that bad. Eyes are a lil screw-y, but I can kinda see still see fine. Hiding it back home is gonna be one hell of a pain though." the girl awkwardly commented, squinting a bit due to their vision being somewhat blurry at times if she didn't try to focus. Sure enough though, her attention was drawn to the pile of bones Ayumi and Solomon had. "So are these Digimon fossils?"
Even Tawna exhibited some confusion, their eyes widening as they drew nearer to take a look at the ancient objects. "...? That is odd... I thought us Digimon don't leave anything behind when we die? We just turn to data..."

Eh? A Biomerge incident? That was... The girl's eyes sparkled. "Oh! Oh! That sounds fascinating! To thing Biomerging can affect humans permanently, too! Oh, oh, can I conduct some tests??" She was so eager, she did not notice this might not be the nicest thing to say. Only Solomon audibly clearing his throat brought her back into reality. She awkwardly readjusted her glasses. "Ah, uh, yeah, s-s-sorry that happened to you, but at least there are no lasting negative impacts!" She clammed up a bit now, so it was up to Solomon to pick up for her. "Yes, these are indeed fossils. We found them up north. As for your question, Tawna, Ayumi is researching a potential link between human expectation and the morphology of the Digital World. To make it short: The fossils are there because we -expect- them to be there." Ayumi just nodded. "L-l-l-let's just get these inside!"

"N-No, no! Its okay! Its not that bad really... eyes are a lil' screwy, but it could be WAY worse. Doc is just advising we don't like ever do it again while Tawna's like... I dunno, half-dead?" Haru swiftly apologized, blushing at the albino's interest at testing their Biomerge. It was an interesting topic though... She herself has only seen one other person Biomerge before, and it was a rare oppurtunity for the club to study such a process. "We can still try to do tests though! I mean... I can't believe we even did it! I want to know just what happens while we're doing it..."
Tawna remained quiet regarding the prospect of perhaps studying briefly the biomerge, and while it seemed risky to her (she trusting the doctor's opinion)... She also trusted Haru's own opinions. Regardless if they would do something like that later, the feline was mildly-interested in Solomon's own explanation as to how the fossils existed... Rather than be actually remains of Digimon that once had been alive, it sounded like they were more implanted into the Digital World itself early in its life. She wasn't one to question science, but primarily since she never considered herself an intellectual. "Strange... but I presume that is what this group we're all part of is for. A connection of some kind to both worlds...?" the Meicoomon briefly questioned as they strolled to the back of the truck, curiously viewing the archaic bones with a look of interest.
"Woahhhh... That is just so bizarre... but yeah, lets get them inside." Haru briefly mumbled, glancing over at the pile of bones Ayumi and Solomon, their mutated pupils widened at the precious cargo. Haru gave Tawna brief glance and nod, the Meicoomon swiftly Digivolving to their Meicrackmon form, the humanoid feline starting off with lifting up the large skull. Haru herself had to settle with some of the smaller bones, but it didn't seem like it would take too long if they all worked together. "Just take them all downstairs, I guess?"

Ayumi was still flustered, so she just nodded. Solomon spoke for her. "Indeed, this could be a link between our world and the human one. We do know more explicit connections exist. This could be a more implicit one."
Into the basement? Of course! "A-a-a-ah, yeah! Let's get this into the basement! To my fossil lab! I spent the past few days building a new machine there I wanna show you! It'll blow you away!" Solomon helped Haru hoist the larger fossil parts, while Ayumi had to carry the lighter ones, being not as strong as Yuki or Haru. Seeing a girl this strong...it made Ayumi feel strange. A weird, warm feeling in her gut. She could not explain this. Not at all. And it kept making her angry at herself. Still, she tried to not show it as she carried the fossils down into the basement.

Haru gave Ayumi a friendly nod, being filled with a slight feeling of excitement as her pale-skinned comrade mentioned a new invention of theirs. She had a huge amount of respect for Ayumi's intellect, they perhaps being one of the smartest people they have ever known. Ayumi was after all the inventor of the... what did they call the system she installed into everyone's Digivices? Zaffy? Zapho? Well, regardless... She had high expectations of Ayumi. "Really? What did you m-make this time?" she asked with a curious look on her face, Ayumi having their full attention even as they all eventually made their way downstairs into the basement area of the library... She remember Usako mentioning it was some kind of mini-pocket dimension or something? A tad hard to understand how, but she wasn't one to argue about the more curious aspects of the Digital World.
Haru gently placed the chunk of fossil that she had been carrying by what would soon become a small pile in the makeshift laboratory, Tawna briefly cracking their knuckles as the Meicrackmon finished setting the skull fossil down. "I'll go get the rest... You ladies don't need to worry a thing." the Ultimate level calmly spoke before making her way back up the stairs, leaving the two girls and Solomon.
Haru took a brief moment to rest her arms, having not done any lifting like that in a while actually... She blamed having been in recovery for like a week, but she hoped it would not be long before that would become an non-issue. "So... What did ya make Yumi-chan? I kinda been out of the loop about a lot of what everyone has been doing, so this is a surprise to me!"

Ayumi was not used to having Haru's whole attention. Usually, when people stare at her it was because of her condition. But she felt Haru's staring was more benevolent, and it did not help the feeling in her gut? Just what was it? Why was the rapt attention of a girl such a big matter to her? Gah, it drove her mad!
The question about the machine was a welcome distraction, however! With a red head she smiled at Haru, and led her to a strange machine consisting of a large screen connected to some sort of table with cables. A strange contraption, resembling some sort of mecha octopus, hung above it. "This is what I call the Waste Data Analyzer! It scans the data in anything and shows the full body of what it belonged to! I made this to visualize what the fossils looked like! Lemme show you how it works!" She rummaged through her things, and found a white feather. "Found this in the Frozen Mausoleum! Pretty sure it belongs to an Angemon! But this machine will tell us!" She then put the feather onto the table and turned the machine on. The octopus contraption lowered itself over the feather, its many arms shining a light over it. A turquoise net pattern ran over the feather multiple times, then the light dimmed, and the octopus retreated back to the ceiling. The screen turned on, with the Ayumisoft logo briefly visible, and then code ran across the screen. After about 5 minutes of code the screen showed a 3D Model of an Angewomon, with all information on the species pulled from the database. Which was none at the moment. "Ah...so it was an Angewomon. I almost had it!"

"You okay Ayumi? You look like you got a little sun." the girl spoke with a mildly concerned tone, mistaking the albino's blushing as just they having been caught in the heat back when moving the fossils. No surprise really with the relatively shorter girl's skin condition... an easy mistake for someone like Haru.
As for Ayumi's newest invention, it appeared to be some type of data analyzer? If anything, it seemed to be somewhat like a glorified scanner like the ones in their Digivices... a scan inputted on a feather that the albino had on her revealing a generated model of an Angewomon. "Ah is alright, easy to mistake I guess! Y'know, isn't it kinda weird how Angewomon are like a level higher than Angemon normally?" the girl quipped before that thought briefly popped into their head, causing them to briefly ponder of the nature between the two angelic Digimon species. "I dunno, I guess never really thought how something skimpily-dressed would be stronger combat-wise." she idly commented, realizing just how odd that sounded... Videogame armor design at its finest it felt like.
"So the idea is that with these fossils we have, we'll be able to see what Digimon they're from? Or... Well, what they would have been if they had ever been alive?" Haru asked, hoping least she was on-point with her theory. Admittingly it was only a wild guess, but there had to have been a reason Ayumi invented this machine! Regardless, it was insane just how useful this could be for the club as a whole! "Damn... Ayumi, this is insane! You could be a freakin' rocket scientist if you wanted to I feel... How have you not like cured cancer yet?" the girl could not help but excitably gush over Ayumi, once again their resident tech genius wow-ing her once more.

"E-e-eeeeh? Oh, n-n-n-no, I am fine, don't worry!" Dangit, Ayumi, if you keep this up then Haru might notice something is awry, and then you have to explain yourself and that's the worst possible outcome! Once again, the ability to jump on scientific stuff saved her. "Hm, yes, this is definitely curious, indeed. If I had to hazard a guess the difference lies in nature's tendency that the female of a species is always the more dangerous one!" Or it could be Angewomon was born from filthy picture data, but she did not want to even consider this. And neither did she want to look at her any more, either, as it only worsened the weird feelings. So, she dismissed the hologram and grabbed one of the fossils. "Oh yes! Ideally the scanner can analyse the data left behind in these fossils and reconstruct an image! Because unlike DNA, data does not deteriorate as easily! Otherwise we wouldn't have Digimon born from Junk Data!" Aaaand as soon as Ayumi had regained her bearings, Haru threw them over once more with a compliment. Eeeh? Curing cancer? "W-w-w-well, I'm n-n-n-not a doctor, a-a-a-and not a biologist, a-a-and...a-a-and..." She then turned away from her to hide her blush, instead just popping a fossil into the scanner and letting it do its magic.

Haru for a moment tilted her head in mild confusion, their cross-pupiled eyes gazing at Ayumi curiously... though not catching anything particularly off about how they were acting. Instead, she merely accepted Ayumi's word as truth, letting out a slight chuckle over how oddly sensible an explanation the Angewomon debacle was. "Maybe thats why you never see male Meicoomon? Tawna says she has never seen one herself... and I guess it makes sense with her Digivolutions." the girl mused, figuring out a form like Meicrackmon or Rasielmon was... predominantly female.
While initially pretty unaware of how Ayumi was feeling, Haru WAS able to notice their embarassment over the praise they were receiving, causing th girl to blush slightly before giving them a reassuring smile. "I'm just jokin' Ayumi! Don't sweat it! I mean, you ARE still really freakin' smart making this! I mean... I bet even Mikemon would be impressed!" she pluckily spoke, idly watching as the fossil began to be scanned... a bit longer of a process than the feather, but hopefully soon would be worth it.
Tawna would come in, carrying an extra set of bones into the lab and gently setting them down... Giving Ayumi a strange look while glancing at Haru. "...? Is... Something up?"

Ayumi ignored Tawna as she entered, too flustered to do anything other than focussing on the fossil. It was up to Solomon, who had remained silently in the background this entire time. "Your tamer has an amazing talent to fluster mine, Tawna. I've only seen her this flustered when Miyu hugged her, or when Yukiko praised her...which gets me thinking."
"I-i-i-i'm nowhere near as smart as Mikemon, he's an actual doctor and a genius to boot! I just tinker with things!" This "thing" she tinkered with then promptly displayed a full three-dimensional hologram of the fossil Digimon. The huge tooth turned out to belong to a Dinosaur Digimon, with the long, theropod stance that most Dinosaur digimon did not have. It had scaly armor on its head with two large horns, giving the impression of a viking helmet, especially with the two, large, feathery ears giving the impression of helmet decoration. The rest of its body was covered in brown, coarse feathers, with its tail ending in an axe-head of all things. The info displayed read: N͡AḾE͏:̶ A̡N̡CIENT̀TY̴R̢A̛NǸO͠M̛ON̨ TY̕P̨E:͞ DINO̧SAUR AT̨TR͜I͠BU̧T̴E:̸ VIRU̡S̕

Tawna raised an eyebrow at the Monodramon's idle comment, tilting her face slightly at the Rookie's mention of their tamer's interesting behavior. "Now that you mention it, I've yet to really notice that. Penny for your thoughts?" the Ultimate level quietly asked as she soon began to lounge in a corner, curling up all cat-like as she watched the two tamers mess with the albino's invention. She wasn't particularly sure, but she had a slight idea... it was just that she wasn't the type to know much about romance. All of her own knowledge was that derived from Mikemon for the most part... but still, it did intrigue her.
Haru had not been paying attention to either her partner or Solomon, she primarily focused on Ayumi... the girl smiling warmly as she let out a playful giggle. "Oh c'mon... You have to admit, this is really impressive! Its almost like Jurassic Park!" the girl pluckily spoke, she having had her attention drawn to the scanner as it generated an image of a large dinosaur Digimon. A regular Tyrannomon looked VERY different from this... nowhere near as chubby-cute as the real deal, it having a more animalistic look to it. "So... an AncientTyrannomon? Are there like other ancient variant Digimon you think?" the girl questioned, she tilting her head in curiosity. What would have other ancient Digimon have looked like?

Solomon made sure Ayumi couldn't hear him, then he leant in and whispered into Tawna's ear. "I have every reason to believe that my Tamer likes girls, in a way that most girls like boys. Last time I have seen someone this type of flustered was when Miss Armstrong recalled the date she had with a boy."
Aha, more science! Ayumi was grateful for any opportunity to break the awkwardness! "A-a-a-ah! I do believe there to be Ancient variants of a lot of Digimon out there...I am j-j-just not sure if they are descended from the Warriors Ten, or weaker members of the same group...m-m-m-my sources so say the Warriors Ten are among the most ancient Digimon we know!" She gave an awkward smile.
