You know, it’s actually kind of funny that the Meicoomon had to hide out in the hills for the sake of safety. Except...it really wasn’t. Her patience was being tried and tested like never before, and it soon would pay off. Till then, it was just her and her thoughts in the nighttime at the campfire. Until the silence was broken. “Ah, a fire. Hey, is this where Mae the Meicoomon dwells? We got your message!” Whoever said that managed to rouse the contemplative feline from a rest, and got her perking up. “Oh, yeah! That’s me! Hope you’re not here to delete me or anything cause BOY OH BOY would that be awful for both of us cause I taste HORRIBLE.” She uttered, peering around for the visitor.
Her eyes told her there were two, a skinny...person in a white hoodie and a Kazemon that looked super abnormal with her outfit’s colors. “Oh, oh! There’s tw-” “Two of us, yes.” The person spoke. Sounded like a girl. She looked the Meicoomon over and very much whispered something in the Kazemon’s ear. “Looks like the knocker cat.” “...That’s really rude, apologize.”
Mae broke into a boisterous sort of laughter. “BAHAHA! Knocker cat? That’s a new way to call a Meicrackmon, I guess! Ahhh...Yeah, I’m Mae. Take a seat. The message was a calling card ‘cause I got something I’d want people to do for the sake of others. Speaking of, who the heck are you bozos?”
“Well…” The human stated, taking a seat, “My name’s Naoko and this is Titania, a fairy queen.” Was Naoko airquoting? Hell to the yes. Did Titania seem to notice? Not really. Either way, both were seated at the fire, and Mae rubbed her paws and claws together like a scheming miser about to get a crapload of bits. “Alright, so. Here’s the skinny. You guys know what that is, right?” Before anyone could answer? “Don’t care. Anyways. SO. We’re currently situated a few...kilometers or miles away from this town. It’s got no name yet but that’s besides the point. There’s a council comprised of two Digimon that are currently feuding...needlessly, I wanna say. It’s got the whole place divided. It’s dumb. So you two should go stop it somehow.” Naoko raised a hand.
“...Why’s it like that?” She asked, which caused Mae’s ears to twitch. “Well...Here’s...a big thing. I don’t know why. I can’t get close enough without the Sagittarimon taking potshots at me. Meicoomon and all, eheh...So, despite wanting to solve this sort of thing myself...I kind of can’t. Not without being killed. And...I don’t want to die. So I sent a message out. Which brought you here.” Mae smiled. It was a very innocent smile. Idealistic in nature. “So...I ask of you. Could you do me a solid? I know I just met you guys and all…” And then Titania piped up. “Well, shoot, sign me up. I could use something productive to do today!” “...Right. I’ll help too. I feel like it’d be the right thing to do. Find out what’s going on and resolve it…”
And thus?
It was done.

The town itself was...not very quiet right now. Of the 41 denizens, all of them were up in arms against each other with no idea what to do with their current conumdrum, and Naoko and Titania were able to see this quite plainly. At the head of one side, there was a Strikedramon, and at the other, an Ignitemon. Yet as they drew close to the square of the town, before they had even entered?
They were stopped by a single arrow, and the timely approach of the Sagittarimon with...his bow leveled right at the duo. Naoko’s first instinct was to turn at the Sagittarimon, stare at him for a few seconds before quietly moving behind Titania, who folded her arms. “We were told of you...what is it you want?”
And to her surprise? The archer spoke. “My wish is simple. That the discord between my people be put to an end. I’d have allowed your friend passage, but she’s...part of why there’s such a ruckus.” “We don’t even know -why- that is.” Titania responded, tapping her foot. “Very well. The short of it? We found an artifact. We stowed the artifact. Someone came and threatened to raze us to the ground unless we yield the artifact. He mentioned the Meicoomon--Mae, as you know, as a detriment that needed to be put down so unfortunately Strikedramon put a bounty on her. I’m...kind of obligated to follow his and Ignitemon’s orders. Do give her my apologies if you can. Now. If you wish to truly solve this? I’d suggest thinking. Otherwise...I’ve my duties to attend to. Given you’re associates with the Meicoomon, I have grounds to kill you both. However, I won’t. My wish is for this town to be safe. You, are no danger.”
And with that? Sagittarimon galloped off. Naoko turned in the direction of the square, where there was...as she heard...a lot of arguing going on, before she ran towards it. Titania sighed and followed along.
And both skidded to a halt when they actually got there. There were really only two digimon going at it but they were as loud as can be, with crowds behind each ready to spill blood.
“So you’re telling me you’d rather kill an innocent just to preserve some egg we found out in the wilds? An innocent that only seeks to aid us? Strikedramon, you disgust me! More than Sorcermon!” The Ignitemon barked, raising...What else? A boomerang. Also up in arms was the aforementioned Strikedramon, who snarled. “You heard the Yasyamon’s demands. We give up the egg, and the village is spared his wrath. Nothing more. Nothing less. Why do you care about this egg so much, Ignitemon?” “He said to get rid of the Meicoomon if she came, and there was one sighted nearby several times in the past week! What makes you think he won’t use the egg to kill that Meicoomon?”
Naoko mumbled, “The real question is what’s so important about this egg…” A good question. Naoko then felt herself be shoved forward by Titania. The arguing ceased. And all eyes went to her.
“And who...is this?” Inquired Strikedramon, who was promptly answered by Sagittarimon’s distant, yet very audible voice. “An outsider with good intentions, and I mean actual good intent. I say hear her out.” ...It was true that Naoko had an idea but she saw it as more selfish than anything. Ignitemon snorted. “I’m all ears so long as it doesn’t involve senseless murder.” “...She’s my charge. At least give her a chance.” Titania finally piped up. “Quite honestly, it’s better than listening to a pissing contest over who’s more right.” This was met with a snarl from Strikedramon. “Nerve. You and he share that. Really pisses me off.” “Great, that’s actually I don’t care much about if at all. So. We know about your egg problem. We want to help. Who wants to raze the village? Why’s Mae involved in all of this? Answer that. Please. Nobody’s told us why at all.” Titania stated.
Short. Simple. To the point. The Kazemon tapped her feet. A long moment of silence descended upon the gathered. Strikedramon pointed to a hall-looking structure. “We speak there. Come. Ignitemon, with me.” “Very well.”
“...Uh...Huh. Right, so long as we get some answers…” Naoko was pretty...amazed that somehow she didn’t need to speak. She should probably fix that in time. The four moved into the aforementioned structure and both Strikedramon and Ignitemon turned to the duo as the doors just...shut by themselves. “And now, we talk.” Ignitemon noted. Strikedramon nodded. “The one who wishes to raze the village is a masked one by the name of Yasyamon. Well, he -is- a Yasyamon. Purple skin rather than blue. All we know about him, really. He bears another name that he refuses to state.” He summarized. Kinda sounded more than a little odd...Ignitemon then piped up. “Yeah, he threatened to, and I quote, rip us all to shreds, amongst other...colorful words.” “Which is precisely why I say to hand over the egg and spare our people this...monster.” Concluded Strikedramon. Ignitemon still had words, though. “However, given he mentioned that specific Meicoomon that Sagi’s been taking potshots at? I have reason to believe he’s targeting them after he gets the egg. Which...I can’t quite condone. Hence the impasse.”
“Your partner as well as Sagi told us you had something in mind.” She didn’t. “Speak it, tamer." Honestly? The few options that Naoko could arrive towards as resonable conclusions were as follows. A) Entrust the egg to her and Titania so that they could maybe lure Yasyamon away… or B)
Screw it. Let’s beat up some doll guy.

“...Okay. So…”
...Naoko started going over a plan that was as simple as wait for Yasyamon to come to hear their decision, and then state their refusal. Given it’d be a 3 on 1 and if they acted quick enough, they could minimize fatalities if any…
Also, it would have been very helpful to know that their deadline to decide was -today-. Talk about timely.
The plan was...simple, to say the least. And if they managed to ward off Yasyamon? They could just take the egg and throw it in a ditch for all anyone cared. Though...Why would they?
And as the clock struck past the deadline, a rather hissy voice echoed through the empty town. Everyone was hiding in their homes, to explain that. “Strikedramon, Ignitemon. I have descended for my promised bounty.” It wasn’t inaccurate to say it was evil in nature but it was also raspy. Buggy. Like a text-to-speech filter gone awful.
Ignitemon, Strikedramon, and Titania all awaited at the square, with Naoko sitting at the steps of the building they had spent the last few hours debating, throwing insults, and wondering why the duo were even here.
Yasyamon had come. And he was...just as he was described. Though Ignitemon had neglected to mention he was covered in a dirty cloak. “Ah. The duo became a quad.” He remarked. “The Digimental. Give it here, or the town will burn.”
Titania was the first to respond, with a simple “No.” Yasyamon simply stared at the three. “And she speaks for you?” Strikedramon shrugged. “No, her tamer actually pitched a really valid point, you’re just a single champion while we possess the virtue of numbers. You won’t be getting this Digimental anytime soon.”
“And then what, you’ll give it to the boy?” “Actually, I’m a girl. And yeah. If I can unlock the container it’s in after we kick you to the curb. Speaking of. Titania.”
“Don’t.” Was all the fairy stated before she launched herself at Yasyamon with the aim of dropkicking him. It sure took him by surprise, but his response was to lean back at an unnatural degree.
Strikedramon acted next, leaping into the air to set his fist aflame and come crashing down on Yasyamon. That had...more grisly results than intended, given where Strikedramon’s fist had landed...There was now -nothing.-
Yasyamon had attempted to move away at the last second, and it cost him an arm. He quickly got to his feet and lunged for Titania, who responded in kind by raising a hand...and sending a cyclone from her fingertips for Yasyamon. Who was promptly cut into like a steak. “...This is...not over. I know not why you bother to aid these people, tamer. But I will not die a fool’s death at your hands, nor theirs.”
With that?
He just started to run. For good measure, Ignitemon threw his boomerang his way, and sighed. “...Hey, remind me...aren’t the things you blast apart with your fist irreparable, Strikedramon?” “No, that’s nonsense.” The dragon man explained. “...It’s just hard to heal. Anyways...If that guy shows up again, we’ll show him the what-for.”
“That guy was PATHETIC. Seriously, why were you even scared? He just took three hits and left like a coward! What was that!” Titania hUFFED. “It’s like you’re a buncha-” “Lay off them, okay? I don’t...think they knew he was that weak.”
“...Just as we don’t know why you bothered to come here. Surely it wasn’t just what that feline told you, right?” An inquiry from Strikedramon that was met with “...I don’t know either. I just thought you guys could use the help. Plus...Titania wanted to do something and she got me into this so there’s also that. But above all? Back when we saw you guys squabbling in the square...I thought you two looked close. Like siblings. It...Well, kind of struck a chord. Sucks when my sister and I fight but we try patching it up. Maybe I wanted to help you with that.”
Ultimately sympathy was at the core of her actions. Granted…
...She had way more to do to actually help these people. That came to her as she looked around….Hey, where’d Ignitemon go?
That answer came in the form of him coming out of the building with a container bearing a gold and red egg that looked like it had wings coming out of the side and a red scarf around it. On it was a rather...odd crest. It was a symbol similar if not exactly like the symbol for a Samaritan source.
“...That’s the Digimental that had you guys at each other’s throats?” Titania was baffled. Very baffled. Naoko was...more curious. That’s something she had never seen before. “...Pretty. Huh.” She stood up and moved to take the container...which promptly unsealed itself the moment she touched it. She looked to the script inscribed on the container.
Digimoji.
She still couldn’t read it that well but she understood the meaning of a good portion of it...Only one who shows the beginnings of sympathy may wield my power.
Sympathy.
“...I might need a moment to reflect on this.”
More than a moment was needed. Naoko spent the rest of her day and night there reflecting.
