Past Meets Present (Part 3 - Final)

Colin and his partners remained silent for a moment while Leith and Veemon came to terms with all this. It all seemed very emotional for a moment - a struggle of fate where nobody would be expected to truly win, only to have a good chance of walking away from all this with some kind of semblance of peace. Perhaps even a kind of agreement that would allow them to keep contact and try to rebuild lives around that which has been lost.
And then Leith had to just ruin it all by telling a teenage girl grieving about the loss of her brother to fuck off.
"Oh for fuck sake, Leith, did ya have to go and do that?!" Bellamy snarled. Even if the Impmon was rough around the edges, he rarely swore himself and at least recognized situations in which it was the right thing to do to show a small degree of empathy. Luke didn't scold his brother for saying though either, he just stared at Leith with an expression of surprised disgust. And Colin didn't find much sympathy in Leith's words either.
So much so that Colin simply scowled at Veemon. "This isn't the right way to go about this" he said. "Truth or lies, you share a history with these two, and it's just damn rude of you to turn around and walk away from them. How would you feel if you were in their situation?"
He turned to Niko and Miyuki. "Even though their requests at first might have not been reasonable, you could've at least tried to meet them midway?" he then turned back to Leith, shaking his head. "Regardless, you don't tell someone grieving for the loss of their family to fuck off, Leith, that's just... absolutely vulgar"
And the consequences were soon to be shown, when Niko evolved Miyuki to Ankylomon. Colin and his partners didn't know what to make of this situation. Given that Leith had so totally lost their sympathy by being so rude they weren't sure whether to back him up or not. But in the end, Colin decided to at least have his partners be prepared.
"Damn it all" Colin growled, drawing his evolution card from the deck on his pouch and slashed it through his D-Arc. "Digimodify! Twin Evolution Activate!"
With that, both Luke and Bellamy shone with light, the two digimon glowing with light. Bellamy conjured twin matchstick wands while Luke conjured a spear bursting with lighting. The twins' evolution gradually transformed their Rookie forms to their Champion forms.
"Impmon digivolve to... Flawizarmon!" "Elecmon digivolve to... Teslamon!"
With Luke and Bellamy now in their higher levels, they stood ready, both standing more in protection of Colin than anyone else present.
"Now then, Niko, please, let's just calm down and try and talk about this, alright?" Colin asked, hesitantly, although he kind of doubted this could be settled peacefully, given how quickly it had escalated.

"How I feel is irrelevant to what I'd do, and as you can see what she's doing is hostile! Jesus, what kind of mercenary wants to just 'calm down and talk about this,' anyway?" Neither of the others seemed to feel like calming down and talking about it either, in fact; on one hand there was the Ankylomon, who just seemed absolutely focused, and on the other there was Niko, who looked more like she was driven by rage now than by grief.
"Get over here, Chuuji! You have to know somewhere inside where you belong!" her voice was getting hoarse and rough, but that didn't seem to stop her from shrieking loud as she could.
"Leith! Raidramon! Now!" Veemon demanded of his Tamer.
But Leith shook his head. "Forget Raidramon. Vee, if there were ever a time you had to try going true champion, it's now. We're out in the open, so we can't cause too much collater-"
"Yeah, yeah, OK! Just get back!" While Leith tried to retreat back about the same distance as Colin but still far away from the kid, Veemon charged forward and clenched his fists. "Veemon, digivolve to..." At first Veemon went through a major growth spurt, becoming over 11 feet tall with the speed of a smash cut camera edit. Then white wings sprouted out his back, an X carved itself in light over his torso, and all his muscles simultaneously bulked up. The final touches were a longer snout that grew a horn-shape of data on the end before the data hardened into a true horn. "...Exveemon!" Still, though, the Miyuki dwarfed even him.
Leith was so stunned by the transformation that this time his internal monologue wasn't so internal. "Holy shit! He's a goddamn dragon!"
Miyuki turned to face Colin, Bellamy and Luke then. "You two aren't involved here. Leave." Her first attack, then, was a deterrent to further interference: she jumped surprisingly high and far given her bulk, rolled into a ball at the peak of the arc, and began to spin forward rapidly. The tail was the only part not rolled into the ball, instead swinging like a spinning mace - straight for Colin, Luke, and Bellamy's direction. It seemed she wasn't being so precise as to pick a target but rather either trying to scare them off or, failing that, hitting whomever she would hit.
Veemon digivolved to champion Exveemon.
Miyuki attacked in the general direction of Colin, Luke, and Bellamy with Tailspin.
-Tailspin: This digimon jumps towards the target, curls up while in the air, spins forward, and uncurls just as she attempts to strike the target with her tail. The additional momentum behind the attack increases its damage. Cooldown: 2 posts.

Colin shook his head. "I thought we established that we're not here as mercenaries or hired help. You're not paying us, remember? And I'm not gonna stand by while you make things worse by being rude". Luke and Bellamy were surprised by this, Colin never really spoke like that to others before. Seemed like he was learning from them.
But he wouldn't argue the matter further. Veemon joined them in evolving to champion, towering over the smaller twins in his new ExVeemon form. But it seemed that the Ankylomon they were facing was intent on attacking them first.
"Colin, GET DOWN!" Luke snapped, and Colin didn't hesitate, hitting the grass as the shockwave came at them, taking cover behind a small hillock. He felt the shockwave rush over his head, but no pain. He hoped his partners had fared better.
Indeed, Luke and Bellamy had jumped out of the way after they were sure Colin was safe, but neither could escape the full effect of the blast. Both of them were knocked down, but, neither of them had received substantial damage, having enough time to use their speed to get out of the way. Still though, that was some strong attack, and as twins they didn't escape the damage entirely, but, perhaps, that wasn't so much of a bad thing.
"So... you went and attacked my brother, eh?" Luke asked, his right eye glowing blue.
"Ya shouldn't have done that" Bellamy concurred, his left eye glowing green. And at once, both of them counter-attacked.
"Ark Lightning!" Luke snarled, the fur spikes on his shoulders snapping with sparks and launched a powerful thunderbolt straight at Ankylomon.
"Razing Prominence!" Bellamy roared, and a jet of red fire blasted from his red matchstick wand at the dinosaur. Both attacks were as strong as those that would have come from non-twin Champion Digimon, given the fraternal bonds the twins shared when the other was attacked.
Colin supposed there was nothing else for it here, seems the battle was now underway. "We may not have been involved before, but, you attacked my partners, so, now we are" he said, although wasn't sure if he could be heard from behind the hillock.
Luke and Bellamy are indirectly struck by Ankylomon's attack and receive minor damage.
Luke uses Ark Lightning on Ankylomon. Damage is increased by 30%.
Combat Passive Ability - Pooka's Eye - If Bellamy has taken damage, Luke's right eye flashes blue with fury. The strength of his next attack increases by 30%.
Ark Lightning - Luke's coils spark with electricity, discharging to the spikes on his shoulders, then he directs the energy with a powerful thunderbolt.
Bellamy uses Razing Prominence on Ankylomon. Damage is increased by 30%.
Combat Passive Ability: Ghost Fire Glove - If Luke has taken damage, Bellamy's hands glow with green flame that pass up his matchstick wands when he's attacking. The strength of his next attack increases by 30%.
Razing Prominence - Bellamy uses his red matchstick wand to fire a jet of flames at his opponent.

Miyuki was hoping the twin digimon would do the smart thing and leave rather than stand and fight, so she was caught off guard when struck; each attack struck her dead on. The best she could do was lower her head and use the armor there to blunt some of the damage.
Leith was almost more concerned about Colin's scolding than the matter at hand; he was distracted enough to shout at his ally, "About time you got your head in the game! Worry about my manners when there isn't a psycho gunning for my friend!" Right then, Leith was scooped up by the dragonoid digimon and deposited on his back as Exveemon ran past. "Wha-? Wait!"
"I can't fight if I have to watch you and her!"
I can't fight if I have to worry about getting blasted and holding my lunch in! Leith kept the complaining internal at least.
"Miyuki, forget them! Get Chuuji back!"
"No you don't, girly! Hang on!" The boy wrapped his arms around the base of Exveemon's neck with a desperate grip and watched in horror as the draconic digimon spread his wings and jumped. Leith thought the force might undo his best grip, but he'd held on long enough to relax a little when Exveemon finally reached a satisfactory altitude.
"Holy crap!" Leith exlaimed when he finally opened his eyes and looked down, "You're a genius! No way she can jump this high!"
"But I can hit her just fine." Exveemon folded his arms across his chest in the same pattern as the X-mark, then roared, "Vee Laser!" When the blue digimon unfolded his arms, he revealed that the mark was glowing orange, and fast as lightning it loosed an X-shaped orange beam or energy that barrelled for Miyuki. Unfortunately, she just parried it by swinging her tail at it. However, Exveemon was so fast thanks to his Rash ability that he was able to repeat the move, "Vee Laser!" As the tail was swinging back to neutral, making the second attack a direct hit.
"Holy- nice one!"
Finally, Miyuki seemed somewhat hurt, but she was still shaking off her injuries well. "Rock Swing!" Miyuki swung her tail again, only this time she only hit... the ground? Actually, she hit it so hard, that chunks of rock around her rose up from the ground around her. "Get down here!" she yelled. Then, she spun her body and struck one of the larger rocks before it could hit the ground with force so powerful it shot at the pair like a home run swing. It seemed Miyuki had no need to jump to reach Exveemon; she could aim for him just fine from below.
Miyuki was hit by Ark Lightning and Razing Prominence.
Miyuki's Thick Hide slightly reduced the damage. Exveemon took off and used Rash to let him launch Vee Laser at Miyuki twice. Miyuki blocked the first Vee Laser but was hit by the second. Miyuki's Thick Hide slightly reduced the damage. Miyuki attacked Exveemon with Rock Swing
Tailspin is on cooldown (1 more post remaining).
-Thick Hide (passive): This digimon is somewhat resistant to all forms of damage. -Rock Swing: This digimon slams her tail into the ground so hard that rocks are pushed up into the air around her. She then swings her tail at the massive boulders before they can hit the ground to throw them at the enemy like a baseball bat hitting a baseball.
-Rash: This digimon forgoes evasion for attack power, allowing him to strike twice in one post with a 25% damage boost for each of the two strikes with a different named ability from this one. If the target attacks this digimon in its next post, this digimon cannot block or evade it. Rash does not count as this digimon's one action for the post. Coooldown: 4 posts.
-Vee-Laser: Emits an energy wave from the "X" pattern on its chest.

Colin supposed that they had both said their part, so he wouldn't bring it up again with Leith. But still, he wanted this conflict to end without anyone getting seriously hurt. And he hoped that it could be achieved without too much force, but by now it seemed this had escalated beyond control.
Niko then ordered Miyuki to focus on ExVeemon, seemingly hoping to defeat him and then claim him. This went too far in Colin's books. "No! You can't just take someone's partner by force!" he shouted.
Luke and Bellamy agreed. However, they were still recovering from their last onslaught of attacks. The flashes of anger that had caused them to fire charged up strikes had faded, their green and blue eyes returning to normal. From here they watched as ExVeemon used his advantage of flight, but Miyuki responded by hurling rocks up at him. This was bad.
"Bells, we gotta weaken her!" Luke advised his brother.
"On it!" Bellamy concurred, then aimed his blue matchstick wand at the Ankylomon. "Aether Osmose!" he shouted, and sent a wave of blue energy at Miyuki. If it hit, her body would be surrounded with a blue aura, which would form a ball of energy that would fly back to Bellamy, strengthening his own power while weakening hers.
Luke meanwhile would make a similar attack, raising his spear high. "Parabolic Charge!" he cried, aiming to connect himself and Miyuki with an arc of blue lightning, which would drain her of speed and stamina if successful.
Both of the twins hoped that by draining Miyuki of energy they may be able to bring a non-fatal end to this fight.
Luke uses Parabolic Charge on Miyuki.
Parabolic Charge - An arc of electricity connects Luke and his foe, where the energy of the opponent gets drawn toward him. Drains the stamina of the opponent, making them slightly slower and himself slightly faster for 3 turns. [Cooldown: 1 Post]
Bellamy uses Aether Osmose on Miyuki.
Aether Osmose - Bellamy uses his blue matchstick wand to draw out his opponent's energy in the appearance of blue fire. Targets the magical energy of the target, making their special-style attacks weaker and Bellamy's stronger for 2 posts. [Cooldown: 1 post]

Despite how much more agile and evasive Exveemon was in the air, he was unable to avoid the rock shot straight at him. He took it straight in the stomach so hard that he was knocked breathless a moment. The knockback force of getting hit also disturbed Leith's grip but, thankfully, did not detach him. Yet, after recovering equilibrium, Leith's first thought was for, "Vee?"
"No big deal," the dragon grunted in return, but Leith personally questioned how honest an answer that was. "Vee Laser!" The energy beam was only able to fire once this time, but it seemed to be right on target... at first.
While Miyuki growled at the pair from below, Niko shouted at Colin and co, "Fine! If you're going to get in the way, we'll fight you, too! Miyuki!"
"You don't even have to say it!" Miyuki acknowledged the nonverbal command, but before she could execute it she had a new problem: Luke's and Bellamy's attacks. Three on one. I should have gone further before now. With surprising agility, the tank was able to lift her rear two legs along with one front leg, then pivot on it to rotate her body. This allowed her to evade both the Vee Laser and Parabolic Charge; the former carved an X-shape in the ground while the latter sailed straight on past. Aether Osmose, however, seemed to have been aimed at a sweet spot that the little pivot couldn't focus get out of the way from. The aura formed as intended, and when it sucked up what magic energy it could, it returned to Bellamy. However, when it was over, Miyuki simply grinned. "...didn't hurt."
That was when it happened: Miyuki's pupils dilated. Then, she was bathed in the light of digivolution again and grew, grew still more massive than the titanic Ankylomon. "Ankylomon digivolve to..." She was a truly fearsome size when she finally stopped growing and morphed to become, "Triceramon!"
"Oh, my God!" Leith cried out immediately; this a level of combat he was definitely not prepared for. He and Veemon had never tried to surpass the champion level before! Even worse, he couldn't be sure whether his partners could either.
Thankfully, at least for Exveemon, Triceramon had switched targets again. This time she was gunning for the twins. She charged straight at them - specifically Bellamy, the one who had actually landed something on her - and growled, "Tri-Bite!" just before she attempted to close her jaws around the Flawizarmon.
Exveemon was hit by Miyuki's Rock Swing Exveemon attacked Miyuki with Vee Laser.
Miyuki was hit by Bellamy's Aether Osmose but evaded Luke's Parabolic Charge and Exveemon's Vee Laser.
Miyuki digivolved one stage up to Perfect Triceramon. Miyuki attacked Bellamy with Tri-Bite.
Exveemon's Rash is on cooldown (3 posts remaining).

Tri-Bite: This digimon attempts to bite the enemy to deal damage.

It seemed that Niko was not willing to listen, seeming to be determined to fight them. Colin wished that it didn't have to come to this. Just... ugh, this didn't have to be so hard!
Bellamy glowed with a slight blue energy as Miyuki's mental energy was sapped and his own was strengthened. But still, what happened next shocked them all as the Ankylomon digivolved further.
"Oh..." Luke breathed, eyes widened with astonishment.
"Dammit, no wonder!" Bellamy snapped, also worried about the development. The dinosaur transformed to an even bigger, more threatening dinosaur. "Colin, need some help here!"
"Got it" Colin said, still under cover, but drew his blue card and slashed it twice through his D-Arc. "Digimodify! Matrix Evolution Activate!"
This "digivolving to ultimate" wasn't something exclusive to Miyuki. Luke and Bellamy were perfectly capable of it too. They could even evolve further, but since they were fighting to stop Miyuki rather than destroy her, they would simply hold back by fighting at the same level. And thus they did.
As the Triceramon turned to Bellamy, black wings sprouted from the Flawizarmon's back as he transformed - his flaming outfit replaced with a pinstriped mobster outfit with a long coat, dashing hat and submachine gun. The fur on his face disappeared, replaced by pale skin. Blond hair covered the right of his face, his left eye narrowed with concentration.
"Flawizarmon digivolve to... Astamon!"
His wings beat once and he flew upwards as fast as he could, trying to get out of reach of Triceramon. Even though they were a similar level, that bite would have hurt badly, coming from a digimon that mass. And while this was happening, Luke was transforming too.
The Teslamon's spear broke into two, but transformed into twin blaster guns. The leather armor on his chest was replaced with blue digizoid, and to top it all off, a deadly looking wheel lined with copper coils appeared on his back, and he was ready to cover for his brother.
"Teslamon digivolve to... Dynammon!"
When Bellamy was out of reach, he would raise his hand and click his fingers, with a snap of "Darklight!" This would send a burst of black flames down on Triceramon. Luke meanwhile raised his twin blasters and with a shout of "Thundercast!" would send two bursts of charged plasma at Triceramon's back.
"We don't want to fight you, Niko!" Colin called to the other tamer. "Just... call Miyuki off and stop this madness!"
Luke digivolves to Dynammon and uses Thundercast on Miyuki.
Thundercast - Luke fires his uncharged twin blasters at the opponent, casting beams of charged plasma at them. He can aim for one target fully with both shots, or aim for two different targets at half power.
Bellamy evades Tri-Bite by evolving to Astamon and taking flight.
Bellamy uses Darklight on Miyuki.
Darklight - Bellamy clicks the fingers of his right hand and conjures a powerful blast of dark flames in a matching style of his Semper Fire attack as a Rookie level. A Dark elemental attack. Bellamy has the ability to control the flames that he conjures, allowing them to track a target and fly around corners for at least 30 meters. [Cooldown: 1 post]

The triceratops monster finally showed some sign of pain when she got blasted by Bellamy's remotely-guided finger fire. She cried out in pain and winced as she was burned. However, she still had the wit to evade the straight-forward beam from Luke by coming to a sudden halt in her charge before it, though the time it took to brake left deep impressions in the dirt between the decision point and stopping point.
"No!" Niko's voice was getting so hoarse between her sobbing and shouting that she was getting a little hard to hear over the battle. "I'm taking my friend back! I'm taking my brother back!"
Well, gotta give the kid that much credit: he's still trying to take the high road. I don't think he gets that's a dead end - emphasis on 'dead.' Goddamn, though; Bells wasn't lying about 'firepower.' That was when he realized it; Miyuki was so far from her Tamer now that if Exveemon struck, the threat would be over in an instant. "Vee... look. This ends if you go for her." Leith made sure to keep that idea for Exveemon's ears only.
Leith actually expected Exveemon to be proud of him for so efficiently calculating the quickest, safest way to neutralize the threat at hand. Barring that, he at least expected Exveemon to do it anyway and let Leith worry about the moral quandry of it all. Instead, Exveemon just turned his head and glared at Leith like he'd never seen before. Even when the young man had been a stubborn patient while the digimon saw him through his stomach flu, still Veemon never flashed Leith such a dirty look as he was getting right then. "Don't ever ask that from me again." For once, Exveemon was asserting his own will over Leith's... and, it floored the young man a little. He wasn't used to it. So he just gulped, nodded, and tried to change the subject - even if he knew they were talking about this later.
"I- I mean, well, we have to do something! This is going too far! You've never reached that level before."
"I can come close." Leith was relieved to watch Exveemon's disappointed frown become an uncertain pursing of the lips. "The digimental of courage."
Leith sighed. "Alright. Maybe if we're lucky we won't be completely useless for once." Exveemon swooped low and hovered just long enough to safely drop his Tamer just beside Colin... on his back. "Ow, geez! Guess you're still mad?" Exveemon landed far away from both the twins and the Tamers then. "Colin, Exveemon needs a second. I'm sure you're not thrilled with me right now, and if you're not, get in line. Just don't let him get blasted while he's digivolving!" While Leith petitioned Colin, Exveemon shrank back to the little Veemon he'd been. Though breathing a little heavier, he'd been hit minimally and so seemed OK. "Here goes nothing: digi-armor energize!"
This evolution was different from the previous. This time, a red light shot out of Leith's D-3 screen from his wrist and enveloped Veemon in a circular cloak from which fire began to burn all over. The sphere of fire began to expand, then, and burst into a fiery explosion that dissipated mere inches away from the digimon now standing there. "Veemon, armor digivolve to... Flamedramon!"
But it was right at that second when the cocoon burst that Miyuki had managed to stomp right behind the armored digimon. Before Flamedramon could so much as spin up an attack, the dinosaur declared, "Tri-Slash!" just before attempting to bring one of her sets of claws down on Flamedramon.
Exeemon devolved one stage to rookie Veemon. Veemon armor digivolved to armor ultimate Flamedramon. Miyuki evaded Luke's Thundercast but was struck by Bellamy's Darklight. Miyuki attacked Flamedramon with Tri-Slash.
-Tri-Slash: This digimon attempts to cut up the opponent with her claws. By channeling all her primal fury into the attack, this move’s damage is increased. Cooldown: 2 posts.

Luke was surprised but at the same time kind of impressed by the fact that Miyuki managed to dodge both beams of plasma while at the same time being fried by Bellamy's Darklight. Then Niko shouted a defiance that she would take Veemon back. But still this wasn't enough to throw Colin off. "He isn't yours to take, Niko! He's Leith's partner! Even if things were different in the past, he's clearly made the decision to be with Leith and that isn't something you can dispute!"None of Colin or his partners heard Leith's next words to his partner, which was fortunate. But it resulted in Leith being cast down next to Colin, his partner seeming rather angry for some reason. But Colin wouldn't prise. At least Leith acknowledged that he hadn't really come across well to Colin, but the boy was willing to wave that aside for the moment. "Alright. Luke! Bells! Cover for Veemon!""Alrighty!" the brothers responded, but that was easier said than done. Such an evolution in the heat of battle would be difficult, but, they'd do their best, especially if Colin asked this of them. They watched with horror as the Triceramon hurtled toward Flamedramon as he evolved. This was something they had to prevent. And thus they would do so with all of their power. While neither of them wanted to kill Miyuki, still, her thick dinosaur hide meant that they would need to strike hard to get through to her. Bellamy raised his submachine gun first, then with a snarl of "Hellfire!" he pulled the trigger and set forth a burst of dark energy straight at the Triceramon. Meanwhile, Luke would come in for a more close and personal statement of her actions. "Raijin Kick!" he snapped, aiming his electrified foot straight at her head. If it connected, it would presumably knock her down, and hopefully make her more inclined to listen to reason. Luke uses Raijin Kick on Miyuki.
Raijin Kick - Luke leaps high into the air, aiming his powerful legs in a kicking attack at the opponent, sparking with electricity. Will knock them down if they are the same level or lower. [Cooldown: 1 turn]Bellamy uses Hellfire on Miyuki.
Hellfire - Bellamy raises his Oro Salmon gun and fires a stream of bullets at them.

Luke and Bellamy were just too slow to stop the attack. Thankfully, though, so was Miyuki too slow to stop Flamedramon's digivolution. The slightly over six feet tall armored lizard stood proudly upon successful evolution, but he was knocked down a peg real fast; soon as he stood, the great dinosaur's claws fell upon him and slashed his back good and deep. Flamedramon cried out, "Aaaagh! Ah!" as he felt the wound with one of his gauntlets and collapsed down to his knees.
"No!" During that scream, Leith's voice sounded almost as hoarse as Niko's. Even though he'd been maintaining an emotional distance for a long time now, the look on his face finally seemed to show some sense of fear and concern. "Talk to me!"
"I'm... OK." The difficulty with which Flamedramon said that didn't quite convince Leith, but Flamedramon was at least able to attempt to stand after the attack. He almost didn't make it as Miyuki readied another attack, but the time she had to take in order to duck beneath both the kick and Bellamy's gun burst allowed Flamedramon to get on his feet - unsteady as he looked.
"He doesn't know what he's doing!" Niko growled in response to Colin. "He can't decide anything until he remembers us!"
"Jesus, kid, she's not gonna come back to reality! Focus on dropping that dino!"
Flamedramon was sluggish as he turned his head to look at Miyuki over his shoulder. "It wouldn't matter even if I did know you." The growl of Flamedramon voice came to be replaced by the smooth, self-assured voice of Flamedramon. "Leith... he's not just my friend anymore. Not after we've shared a room and fought for our lives together. I'm sorry, but whatever we had is gone, and the truth is I don't want it back. I wouldn't trade what I have now for anything." Again, Leith was forced to show a little emotion: he uneasily smiled, uneasily because of the matter at hand still being, well, at hand. "Colin... you haven't seen Leith at his best today. You don't know what kind of person he can be. But I do - and she will never be able to take that away." Flamedramon stumbled a little as he forced his right gauntlet to ignite, becoming covered in fire, and winced from pain. He then raised his gauntlet, pulled it back, and made a punching motion. Where the 'impact' was, three fireballs appeared out of thin air and flew toward Miyuki.
Unfortunately, Miyuki didn't even have to move; Flamedramon's stumble threw his strike off-target, and the fireballs simply whizzed into the sky. That left Miyuki free to move, unfortunately for him. She roared and boomed, "Enough!" loudly enough that it forced Leith to cover his ears and grunt uncomfortably from the pain. She then growled ferally, eyed Flamedramon, and started using one foot to dig into the ground like a bull about to charge.
Flamedramon was hit by Miyuki's Tri-Slash. Flamedramon attacked Miyuki with Fireball Fist. Miyuki evaded Fireball Fist, Raijin Kick, and Hellfire. Miyuki targetted Flamedramon with Brazen Charge.
Miyuki's Tri-Slash is on cooldown (1 post remaining).
-Fireball Fist: This digimon punches the air, which summons three fireballs that use the punch's momentum to fly toward the opponent.
-Brazen Charge: This digimon takes one post to dig in her heels, set sights on a target, and rile herself up. On the second post, she lowers her horns and charges at the enemy in a violent frenzy. This deals absolutely massive damage. Limit: Once per thread.

Luke and Bellamy flinched as Triceramon slammed straight into Flamedramon. Damn she could move fast! It was also starting to press home that they were not going to get through to Niko with words, and seemed that instead they would have to use actions.
Colin listened as Veemon explained that Leith wasn't at his best. Colin sighed and acknowledged that. It was clear from the start that Leith was stressed, hell everyone here was stressed, but it would be most painful of all on Leith. While Colin still didn't agree that they had taken the best path here today, well, he wasn't going to continue holding it against the older young man.
But now it seemed he needed to step up and act like a proper officer of PROFIT. He thought to what others would say - Ryouta, Yuu, Cion, and, thought that in this case, it would be best to start pressing the matter.
"Bellamy, heal Flamedramon!" Colin shouted at his partner in a voice so forceful that it nearly sounded like an order. Fortunately Bellamy agreed, the Astamon's wings glowing a deep indigo-blue. Then with a cry of "Nightingale!" he sent forth an aura of energy in the shape of a bird which soared straight at Flamedramon. Not only would it heal his wounds a little, it would help him recover from the shock of the fight just a little, which hopefully would give him the energy to dodge. With that done, Colin turned to the girl.
"If you don't stop this now, Niko..." Colin began, speaking as carefully as he could. His voice had only just broken last year and he realized just now he needed to speak as a man, not a boy, which took rather a lot of effort to do. "My partners are going to hurt Miyuki. I'm dead serious about this. What you're trying to do is against what it means to be a tamer".
To prove his point, Colin drew a second card from his deck, revealing it as a WarGrowlmon card. "Get ready, Luke!" he advised his partner. "Digimodify! WarGrowlmon's Atomic Blaster Activate!"
As this was slashed through the D-Arc, the blue digizoid armor on Luke's chest opened, and two cannons appeared at the center of his torso. They glowed red momentarily, then launched massive twin beams of hot plasma directly at Triceramon, in an attack stronger than his usual Thundercast.
"You see..." Colin said. "My partners can heal, you're nowhere near close to beating us. So calm down, be sensible, or else you're not gonna like what happens next".
Bellamy uses Nightingale on Flamedramon.
Nightingale - Bellamy's wings glow with blue light, and he flaps them once. This provides himself or an ally with a stroke of luck that in effect mends their data in a healing technique, and reduces any active cooldowns by 1 post (except if he uses it on himself). [Cooldown: 2 posts].
Colin scans the WarGrowlmon card and uses it on Luke.
Luke uses Atomic Blaster on Miyuki.
Atomic Blaster: The target Digimon fires a blast of energy from it's chest.

Jesus... Leith glanced to his side at the boy who had just summoned up a mega-level attack. This kid. I guess that's why they make the big bucks... better not piss them off again.
Bellamy's Nightingale did its job. With its help, the next time Flamedramon stood, he did so tall and proud - though still breathing pretty heavily. "No... more!" Flamedramon stomped one of his feet, and when he did his whole body became engulfed in bright orange flame. The sight of it made Leith gasp and look concerned for a moment, but he understood after a moment there was no nee; the fire was not burning him, and he showed no concern over being covered in it. Just the opposite, in fact, it seemed to be coming from him. "If I've already failed one Tamer, I can't fail another! Not this time!"
"Vee-!"
"Absolute Inferno!" Flamedramon stepped forward in a stance that had him putting almost all his weight on his front leg, which was bent low to make Flamedramon crouch. The dragonoid then held out his armored hands and began to lift them as if he were lifting something immensely heavy. At the same rate as he lifted his hands, a second fire ignited in a circle around Miyuki and rose like the armored lizard was commanding it. Eventually the circle of fire became a cage that completely eneveloped Miyuki and rose good and high, too high for her to jump over.
The only thing that did manage to make it through the wall of flames was Luke's Atomic Blaster ability. The fire burned too brightly to see the hit of anything inside it, but the cry of pain was a good indication that the mark was struck. For good measure, though, Flamedramon slammed his two gauntlets together, and as soon as he did the circle of fire shrank and wrapped around Miyuki like a blanket, only this was no comfort item. The second cry of pain really pierced the eardrums, but it stopped once the pillar of fire collapsed on top of her. Scorch marked the ground all around her, and the air still shimmered a little from how much it had been heated up, but with the fire gone, everyone could finally see Miyuki again.
She wasn't a Triceramon anymore. All that remained in her place was the baby digimon Tsubumon... and she wasn't moving.
Niko shrieked her grief and threw her body over her fallen partner, but she was almost inaudible compared to Leith's own cry. Flamedramon almost looked like he was going to fall forward from the stress of trying to hold such new forms under such stressful circumstances, but what held him up was his Tamer unexpectedly wrapping his arms around him - and shedding tears like he was getting paid to do it. This was a bit of a surprise to Flamedramon, and it showed on his face; his Tamer wasn't normally prone to physical displays of affection, but especially not in public view. Still, after recovering from the surprise, Flamedramon exhaled hard and managed to wrap his arms around Leith back.
The moment didn't last long, though; fire shot out from Flamedramon's body and into Leith's D-3, which seemed to take Flamedramon's digivolved form with it. That left Leith sobbing while simultaneously hugging and carrying Veemon. Meanwhile, Niko was sobbing just as mindlessly over Tsubomon - but at least she wasn't an egg.
Flamedramon was healed by Bellamy's Nightingale. Flamedramon attacked Miyuki with Absolute Inferno. Miyuki was hit by Atomic Blaster and Absolute Inferno Miyuki devolved to baby Tsubomon.
Miyuki was defeated.
-Absolute Inferno: This digimon summons a wall of fire that completely encircles the enemy and closes around them until the opponent's entire body is on fire. This attack deals massive damage compared to normal Flamedramon damage and adds up to five stacks of Burning Man to the targeted opponent on hit. Limit: Once per fight. Cannot be activated until a fight has lasted for five posts.

And so it seemed from the effects of the battle, Luke's attack managed to stop Miyuki while Bellamy healing Flamedramon gave him the strength to finish the matter. For a moment, Colin was startled. He looked at his D-Arc for the moment, then at the card he had used. This... this was the first time he had personally made an action in opposition to another tamer. Yeah, in a way he had felt bad, but, the outcome of it, when Miyuki de-digivolved to her baby level, this... felt like it was a good outcome. Niko had acted the wrong way, yet she wouldn't suffer the loss of losing her partner either. With that in mind, Colin relaxed somewhat.
The battle over, Colin decided to approach Niko. His partners made no further moves.
"I'm sorry it came to this..." Colin began. "But, this could never work out how you wanted it to. Be thankful you still have your own partner, because if our intentions were reversed and the tables were turned and we won this, you wouldn't have the same. Now, please, return to civilization, recover, gain some sense about this matter, and move on".
Colin still thought it was sad that she was acting like this out of despair for her brother's loss. But that was the only way she could truly recover, at least he thought. Veemon was the partner of Leith and he had no intention of halting that. So there was no other option.
Bellamy and Luke meanwhile watched over this event, neither of them making any further attacks. This was their partner alright, the bearer of the crests of Compassion and Tenacity. They supposed that this was always how Colin was going to react to this - be tenacious in an all out attack, but be compassionate in understanding their foe's pain and wanting to minimize it. Hopefully this would be the end of it.

Veemon may have only devolved to Rookie level, but he was just as unconscious as Miyuki was. So Leith lay him down in the grass - one of few parts not scorched or ripped up God-knows-who during the battle - and knelt over by Colin and Miyuki. Leith found himself somewhat conflicted over how to feel here, but he supposed there would be a safer time and place to think about it. "Well, look at that... I wanna say this is the first time we actually added something to the fight, but let's face it: you could have taken her one-handed and blindfolded. We needed you guys, not the other way around. I know you were still holding back, and honestly, that kind of scares me." The boy paused before continuing on, "That's the real reason why I almost actually said yes. Our progress has been... well, 'slow' still feels too generous, and a lot of the fault lies with me. And now I really wonder why he'd still pick me instead of-"
Leith started to pay less attention to Niko the longer he talked to Colin, and he paid for it when Niko suddenly growled and tackled Leith with her hands around her neck. She wasn't thinking very clearly, though, so the otherwise physically-inferior young man was able to punch her in the nose to get her off of him, then stand and kick her to get her back on the ground, at which point he stepped on her back to pin her. He seemed to have no regard for the fact that it was a teenage girl he'd just harmed. "Colin, Luke, Bellamy, we gotta do something about this chick!" Leith changed subjects, "I don't think she wants to learn her lesson right now, and I also don't trust her not to try something again. I wish we could just call the cops, but... you know. So what's left?" Leith certainly had one idea, but it didn't seem quite so appealing while Niko was physically subdued and not an immediate threat.

Colin was a little bit surprised that they had succeeded in stopping all this. He listened to Leith and sighed. "Of course we were holding back, we really didn't want to hurt them" he explained. "This whole battle seemed like a big misunderstanding".
He was cut off from saying more when Niko seemed to want to take this further, physically attacking Leith. Colin stared with shock. He honestly didn't know what to do. Luke meanwhile shouted "Stop that right now!" But neither of them would actually attack, an Ultimate level could erase a human completely.
Bellamy meanwhile was the one to step forward. The Astamon knelt down on one knee on the grass so he could speak to the girl, fixing her with his green eye. "We all know this is pointless, kid. You're actin' out in grief. I get it. You're pissed off, but, it ain't gonna bring your brother back. You're tryin' to hurt others, and that ain't right. So, this is what's gonna happen. When Leith gets back up, you're gonna turn around, pick up your partner, and leave. And you're not gonna try anythin' like this again, because if you do, we'll stop you".
There was a flash of seriousness on his face. He didn't say it, but, if Niko did try to kidnap Veemon again by force, it would be clear that next time she would be losing Miyuki as well.
"That goes double if you try anythin' on Earth too" Bellamy added. "Unlike here, the cops will be involved".
The Astamon had said what had been too difficult for Colin and Luke to say. Both of them looked like they agreed with what he had said.
"So then, we clear here?" he finished, watching Niko carefully.
