When the number of enemy digimon grew before their eyes, Simba’s legs trembled so badly that his whole body now looked as if he was on the brink of a seizure. “I must...be brave. Must...stand on my own.” Talia didn’t have to think twice to realize the pickle they were currently in, torn between what was the right outcome. “Tohru, take Simba and get out of here alright? I’ll be okay, I promise.” It broke her heart to see the tiny dragon so terrified, the girl wishing she could just pick him up and protect him in her arms. “Are you mental?! We’re not leaving you with these...things.”
Ohhh Tohru Tohru, this was not a good time to argue with your human. “That wasn’t a request.” The blonde used that threatening kind of tone, the one she used when the twins had used her Lilly Pulitzer pillows in a pillow fight, but this one sounded way more intense, and Tohru wasn’t having any of it, seeing it as nothing more than an empty threat. “And I said, not going, so there.”
“N-neither am I….” The barely a whisper, trembling voice caused the two to turn around to the dragon. “Ah uh...I mean yeah! Plus, aren’t the three of us...strongest together?” Normally Simba cowered when his human and sister fought, always having an aversion to violence and loud noises, never thinking of the in between, only the fear of the what if. “Exactly! A family always stands together.”
Family. It was a stomach dropping, correlatively foreign concept to Talia who’s connection with such an ideology left with the last moving truck as she’d watched it pull out of their driveway that morning. But do they really Tohru? The blonde was too much of a cynic to believe such a fairytale notion. “Well, didn’t I promise I would look after you two? What’s a couple big bugs gonna do to change that? This isn’t some one sided BS, partnership is a two way street.”
The confidence seem to be infectious, with the dragon feeling the tremors in his legs loosening like weighted sandbags being untied. “I-if you’re gonna take Talia, you’ll take me too! And my sister.” The thought made him furious, a newfound strike boiling inside him. “But you WON”T!” As Simba bellowed the last word, an inferno of orange and red spewed from his jaws, the flames headed straight for the group of Digmon. “Meep, w-was that me?” He’d never been able to use his firepower until now or was even aware it existed. “Looks like your powers growing, kid!” Maybe he was a flame breathing dragon now, but to Tohru he still was and would always be her scrappy kid brother no matter what.
