Desmond was glad to hear that Calliope could probably walk but he wasn't going to take this chance. Instead, he looked at her and placed his arms under her and scooped her into his arms before running toward the bag. "Mudmon!' He shouted while trying to pinpoint the small Digimon. She shouldn't be very far unless she could move faster than he thought. "Where are you?" He wanted to get both the girl and her Digimon to that crevasse and hide there. With Calliope in his arms, Desmond took a breath. "Hold on tight." Good thing that she wasn't very heavy, or maybe the adrenaline in his veins made him stronger in the current situation. In any case, he wasn't going to complain. As soon as he stood on his feet, the Allomon whipped his tail around in a sweeping arc barely missing the two tamers. However, Meramon got hit on the side and fell to the ground with a grunt. It didn't take long for him to stand back up and create a fireball in his left hand. It was going to get messy. The dinosaur Digimon roared at him, taunting the fire Digimon. Meramon threw the ball of fire but the Allomon was quick. Jumping on the side, it avoided the attack easily. It seems that he wasn't going to win this fight from a distance, he was going to go toe to toe with the wild Digimon.
The Frenchman Was now making his way to the bag and look around for the Mudmon. He fell to one knee so that Calliope could get her bag and take a deep breath. His eyes scanned the battleground from left to right. It would take him a second to notice the small blob right behind the Allomon. Oh no, she is going to get squished standing there. Desmond had to make a decision, he could get Calliope to safety to the crevasse and then go to get Mudmon. Or he could risk it and go for the Digimon right away and Calliope could grab her. Why did he have to freeze at the worst moment, he hated himself for that. He gritted his teeth trying to clear his mind. Screw it, he was going to get the Mudmon right away. "Calliope, get ready to grab your Digimon." He said before taking one deep breath. And with that, he rushed into the fray hoping that Allomon would be too distracted to come at them.
Meramon threw another ball of fire and began running at the wild Digimon. Allomon jumped to the side again and then took a step backward. And he slipped on the small puddle of mud and fell down right next to the blob-like Digimon, almost crushing her under his massive body. It was about the same moment that Desmond reached to Calliope's partner and bend down so that the girl could grab her. He felt his body shivering and then froze once more for a second while hoping that the girl was close enough to be able to reach the Mudmon. The Allomon rolled to his side and with a small hop, he was now back on his feet. He turned his head for a moment to look at the three and roared. If he wasn't already angry before, he sure was now. He lifted his foot and was about to crush them all but he got tackled from behind by the Meramon. The two of them landed a few feet from the two tamers and partner. Desmond closed his eyes upon feeling the impact of the two larger Digimon hit the ground.
As he opened them, he saw his partner wrestling the Allomon on the rocky ground. The dinosaur tried to bite one of his arms but ate a fireball as he opened his jaw making him roar once more but this time, in pain. Desmond froze again but quickly regained control of his body. Without saying anything, he stood up and almost dropped Calliope but managed to hold on to her. Running toward the open crevasse, the blond tamer didn't look behind him but could hear the Meramon getting hit and grunt. The fire Digimon got clawed by the dinosaur but didn't move even with the pain. The Meramon began punching the Allomon's head but the wild Digimon was fast, he could move his head side to side with ease and avoided most of the punches.
With a swift headbutt, the blue Digimon made contact with the other Digimon and the hit sent Meramon away from him. Standing up with an evil grin, the Allomon lowered his head and rushed forward for another headbutt. The Meramon crossed his hands across his torso and began to glow white. He waited for the wild Digimon to come within ran and extended both arms toward the Allomon. A barrage of fireballs spewed out of his body straight to the dinosaur's head. The attack was good enough to blind him for a moment and Meramon sidestepped before going for a punch which landed on his jaw making him dizzy. The Allomon fell to the ground on his side and grunted before shaking his head and quickly standing up. The Meramon rushed in but a quick tailspin from the blue Digimon sent him flying to the side.
"DemiMeramon!" Desmond shouted to his partner. He was now very close to the crevasse. If Calliope wanted, he would have let her stand on her own. He knew that he should be hiding right now but he was too worried about his partner. He never saw him in this form nor did he saw him fight before. He was also trying to calm his racing heart with deep breaths. He felt powerless, what he could do anyway against that huge beast? And it didn't seem like the Meramon was winning. He didn't want to lose him. Not now, not ever.
The fight went on with the two exchanging blows. Soon enough, one of them was going to slip and lose. The big dinosaur managed to bite one arm making the Meramon wince in pain. But that was a mistake from the Allomon. The fire Digimon arm burst into flame and the Allomon had to release it right away with a mouthful of fire. Taking this small window of vulnerability, Desmond's partner ducked to the side and went for another punch. The fist made contact on the wild Digimon's nose and with another punch, he fell to the floor. Unfortunately, the Meramon was getting very tired. It was his first fight, he didn't know how to conserve energy. Taking a moment to breathe, the Allomon stood up and he too was pretty tired. He looked at the Digimon in front of him and then the tamers. He began grunting before going back to face the fire Digimon.
"You win this time, but I will be back." He said before roaring. The two Digimon circled each other for a moment, both ready to rush. As soon as the Allomon got his back to the way away from them, he puffed and ran away. The fight was over. The Meramon fell to his knees and with a flash of blue light, a DemiMeramon was now on the ground where the larger Digimon was. The DemiMeramon was barely conscious laying on the ground with eyes half closed, the fight drained of all his energy. Desmond couldn't believe it, did they win? The Frenchman just stood still like a statue with eyes wide open. His head slowly turned to see if Calliope was still there. "Is... Is it over?" he half whispered. He wanted to go get his partner but his legs couldn't move an inch. All he could do was to look at Calliope with his mouth open unable to do anything.

Walking wasn’t going to be an issue for her but walking fast enough to get out of the way was currently a different story. Fortunately for her she ended up not having to concern herself with that since Desmond abruptly picked her up. If the situation wasn’t so dire she probably would have protested but she wasn’t to concerned about that at the moment. What she was concerned with was the little Mudmon suddenly vanishing from her bag. The bag was behind the boulder so it ruled out the possibility that the Allomon had already stepped on it. She could have sworn the bag was zipped… well no time to worry about it now. The Greek girl nodded in acknowledgment holding on to him as he made his way past Allomon. She held on tighter as the Allomon’s attack narrowly missed but remained silent to make sure she didn’t draw attention to them. She worried for Meramon: he may be stronger now but will it be enough to face off with Allomon? All they could really do is just try and stay out of their way and allow Meramon to focus on their fight. All it would take at that point would be for them to step the wrong way and they would not live long enough to regret it. when they made it safely to the boulder she quickly picked up her bag double checking it to confirm Mudmon wasn’t there, to her dismay she wasn’t in the bag. She had only just met this little creature but it had her fearful to think that it could be gone because she wasn’t watching it. she looked around as Desmond did in search for the tiny blob, the little thing was going to end up getting hurt if they didn’t find it soon. When they finally did find her the sight made Calliope’s heart drop.
Mudmon kept herself backed up from the two fighting Digimon, her body may be squishy but not that squishy. It chirped bouncing up and down as though it was cheering the fiery Digimon on in its fight against Allomon.
Calliope silently prayed that Mudmon wouldn’t be stepped on until Desmond told her to get ready to grab Mudmon, she nodded “right!” she gripped her bag with one hand and held on to him with the other. Mudmon noticed the two humans approaching as Meramon was keeping Allomon busy with the fight.
The little Digimon went to approach them she noticed Allomon slip on her mud trap, her moment of feeling helpful was slowly replaced with a feeling of fear as she tumbled out of the way of the falling Allomon.
“Mudmon!” Calliope looked on in horror as the tiny blob narrowly escaped being crushed. When they reached her Calliope held the bag open and the little Digimon lunged into the bag. Something dawned on the girl: they might be to close. That theory was confirmed when the Allomon looked their way and furiously roared. Calliope closed her eyes, held on tight to Desmond, and hugged her bag tightly in her arm when the large Digimon lifted its feet to crush them. Just as she thought they were done for, Meramon stopped the Allomon from finishing them off once again. Fortunately they didn’t fall on them either, the girl opened her eyes again to see both Digimon right in front of them. Watched their battle rage on as Desmond made his way over to the crevasse.
Calliope winced as the Allomon made a powerful blow against Meramon, she saw the concern in Desmond as Meramon was thrown. She still felt sore but she was stable enough to stand when the blond tamer put her down. She worried he was going to try and help Meramon, she a hand on his shoulder she calmly said “you have to trust him, if you rush in now it might put you and DemiMeramon in more danger” she knew it might not be what he wanted to hear but she didn’t know what he would do under too much stress. Calliope saw how the two Digimon were worn out from their long hard battle a strike of relief hit her when the Allomon made a statement of retreat. Finally the fight was over albeit it was a draw. She watched cautiously as Allomon vacated the crater making sure he left for good. Her eyes drew to the flash of light that revealed a barely conscious DemiMeramon. hearing Desmond’s question hit her immediately, she slowly nodded “yes and DemiMeramon won” she slowly made her way over to DemiMeramon kneeling beside him and carefully picking up the exhausted Digimon. Once getting back to her feet she turned to Desmond “he chased off Allomon but we aren’t safe in this crater we should follow the crevasse and get DemiMeramon to a place where he can rest.” It probably would have been faster climb out of the crater but they risk getting to close to Allomon again and she didn’t believe any of them were stable enough to make that climb.

Desmond, still frozen in place, saw Calliope come back with his partner in her arms. He just watched as she made her way to him. His arms slowly opened to hold the DemiMeramon if the girl would put him into his arms. With a sad expression, he slowly began cradling him like a baby. He could see him faintly glowing but breathing. He never saw him like that and it was hard for him to just say anything. He never saw him fight like that. It was so different from the partner he knew. Did he lose his childlike innocence for good? He was glad that he was alive but at what cost? Will he ever gonna be the same when he wakes up? As he pulled him closer to his body, he could feel the heat going through his clothing. It wasn't as warm as usual and that made him a bit teary. He was so lost in thoughts before hearing Calliope's voice telling to go into the crevasse for safety. It took him a few seconds before nodding and take a deep breath. "Right, I'll follow you."
As he took one step, he felt a sharp pain in his right ankle. Grimacing, Desmond looked down at his feet. He now remembered his rough landing earlier. Now that he was calmer, he could feel pain again. He tried to put pressure by leaning on his foot to see how bad it was. The pain was there for sure, maybe he won't be able to run but he should be able to walk. He took a few steps forward and realized that he was limping. Well, that is going to be a bother. If they are lucky, that Allomon won't decide to come back and eat them whole. "Ow..." he whispered to himself trying to hide the pain. It would be pretty easy to see that he was hurt though just by his expression. He stood still for a second and shook his head. "Sorry, I'm right behind you." He said trying to sound like he was fine. He has never been a good liar so Calliope could have easily noticed it.
He just made slow step trying to not put too much pressure on his right foot but it was easier than said. It seemed so easy in the movies. On the good side, the crevasse was right next to them. "Wait, let me go first. DemiMeramon's body can give us some light." It was hard to really see it in daylight but he was made of fire so he still glows if only faintly right now. Taking careful steps, Desmond peeked inside to see if there was anything inside. It seemed pretty empty but he could hear the distant sound of water. It was hard to notice but it was there. There was water, in some form or the other, but they should be fine. The Frenchman slowly placed a hand on the ground. It pretty dusty and there were small bits of rocks here and there but it wasn't wet so the source of water was further away. "Should be clear." He said while turning his head to look at Calliope.
After saying that, he carefully entered the crevasse. Using his partner like an open flame, he could see maybe few meters in front of him. Nothing, there was nothing but them. He would take a few painful steps before stopping and wait for the other tamer. He slowly placed the DemiMeramon on the ground and sat next to him. "Mind if I sit next to you?" He would ask before wincing. "I think I need a moment to rest..." He said a bit defeated. "My ankle kinds of hurt..." He didn't want Calliope to worry too much about him but failed to sound very convincing. "How are you holding up?" He then asked. "You got hit pretty hard there..." As much as he didn't want her to worry, he was doing just that, worrying about her. He then tried to find a comfortable position for a moment and eventually, he had his both legs extended and his hands on the ground on each side slightly behind him. That would do for now.
Desmond tried to not look at his partner too much. He would instead look at Calliope. Poor girl, she only has been here for so little time and she almost got eaten by an evil Digimon. Fortunately, he felt that they were pretty safe in here. It was maybe a bit cold but he had three layers of clothing so he was fine but he wasn't so sure about the other tamer. "Do you want my jacket?" If she were to accept it, he would gladly pass the jacket and then smile. His attention then went to see the small fire Digimon in front of him. He seemed that be glowing brighter now. Or maybe it was his eyes that were getting adjusted to the dim place. "You were very brave. back then." He would say as he turned his head to look at her. He didn't have time to truly look at her before. He could now see her icy blue eyes, they were beautiful even in low light.
the Frenchman took a second or two looking at her eyes before blushing. "Sorry, got lost for a moment there..." Maybe saying lost wasn't going to help him. "Oh, Mudmon was pretty brave too!" He quickly said. "Almost got squished too though." And he laughed before going back to look at the DemiMeramon. "He's going to be fine, right?" He would ask as his smile faded from his face. He really needed to hear someone telling him that his partner was just resting and not slowly fading away.

Calliope knew DemiMeramon wasn’t going to move him self there was probably more room in her backpack but she didn’t refuse when Desmond gestured for his Digimon, DemiMeramon knew him longer. She saw the worry and sadness in the blond tamer, the girl offered a reassuring smile “I’m sure he’s going to be alright” in all honesty she didn’t know especially after the Digimon transformed into that larger Digimon, but he seemed to be back to normal. She wasn’t going to rush him especially when his partner was in that condition but she wanted to get out of the open soon as possible in case Allomon or another large Digimon spots them. When he said that he would follow her Calliope turned and started heading towards the crevasse. She had no clue where it went to but if it got too confusing they could always come back to the crater.
She heard him stop and say ow, turning quickly she looked at Desmond she saw the pained look on his face, a look of concern crossed her eyes “are you okay?” the little Mudmon poked her head out of the bag to see what the commotion was. The girl didn’t notice it earlier but was he limping? The girl tried to think back and see where he possibly injured his ankle but her thoughts were so scrambled she couldn’t remember when it happened. Calliope quietly asked “are you sure your alright?” when he said he was right behind her she knew something was off she didn’t mind at all stopping if he needed a break but if he said he was fine then she wasn’t going to argue about it “right… let me know if you need to stop” she didn’t want him hurting himself even more. She was about to pull out her lighter to see what was in the crevasse but heard Desmond say that he wanted to go first, she forgot that DemiMeramon was made of fire and gave off more light than her small lighter. She nodded “okay” and stepped back from the entrance of the crevasse, looking out over the crater to ensure that nothing was coming up behind them. She was close enough to hear the distant sound of water: perhaps an subterranean river or something. When he said it was clear she followed him into the crevasse, now they were safe from larger Digimon that lurked outside.
She let out a sigh of relief, this place was going to take a long time to get used to. Taking a seat she unzipped her bag releasing the little Mudmon inside. Turning to Desmond she smiled “I don’t mind at all go right ahead” she was glad he wasn’t stubbornly prideful refusing to address that he was injured “I noticed you were limping earlier when did it happen?” when he began asking if she was alright she stretched, she knew she was going to be ok but her back and shoulder’s were going to be bruised from the blow “I’ll be okay, the initial hit just knocked the air out of me” she leaned back on her hands. This world was strange and now she knew that it was dangerous, in the future she was going to have to be more careful.
Calliope looked around the area of the cave it was lit enough she could see the close by surroundings but there were little path ways that weren’t quite reached by DemiMeramon light. She turned to Desmond when he offered a jacket to her, she didn’t realize it but it was a bit cold and she wasn’t really wearing the right clothing for the temperature. She remembered something “ah, it’s okay I have a coat in my bag, but thank you for the offer” she smiled and pulled the jacket out of her bag. Pulling the coat on over her shoulders she turned back to Desmond when he said she was brave “T-thanks” she smiled. Calliope saw he was staring for a moment then suddenly turn red, was he blushing? She giggled a bit when he said he was lost for a moment she could of easily stated something about him blushing but she didn’t wish to embarrass him “don’t worry about it we all get lost in thought, it happens.”
She quickly looked at Mudmon when he stated she was brave too, picking up the little creature she had a more stern look on her face “she was and she almost did get squished, I need to start keeping a closer eye on you” initially she was just going to release it once they got away from Allomon but it occurred to her that she couldn’t just leave the little Digimon alone. Calliope looked at DemiMeramon when Desmond asked if he was going to be okay. “I don’t know much about Digimon but DemiMeramon is strong, I’m sure he’s going to be alright” she reached over and patted the little fiery Digimon. She reached out and pulled out a sleeveless coat “here you can put him on this, it will make him more comfortable while he's resting” she reached into the bag once again and smiled “good I still have it” she paused pulling out a portable med kit “here now we fix up your ankle”

Desmond looked at his right ankle and sighed. "I think when I landed on the ground after jumping into the crater." He tilted his foot to the left and felt a bit of a sting. He didn't hide the pain now that Calliope noticed it. And he never was a prideful person, he rather be honest more than anything. "Gonna hurt for a while, but I think it will be fine." He could admit that he was in slight pain but he didn't want her to worry too much. He did his best to stay still hoping that he didn't break anything. Having a broken ankle is going to be very bothersome seeing how he did not see anything remotely like a clinic or anything like that. He tried to tilt it back to its original position slowly but it hurt. He grimaced for a second before sighing once more. "Well, on the good side, I doubt that we are going to jump down another cliff today." He tried to add some humor to the situation. His heart was now beating steadily and he could breathe normally now.
The DemiMeramon was still not moving but his glow was like it was pulsing slowly going brighter then dimmer and back and forth. Perhaps it was his breathing? Desmond wanted to think that. That meant that the Digimon was still alive. "You know, I didn't think that I would like him like that." He then said to Calliope with a smile. "It is weird, taking care of someone. I've never done that before. I use to just feed him and try to distract him so that he would be out of my way." And he paused with a hint of melancholy in his face. "Now, I think that it won't be... Normal without him around." It has been maybe less than a month since the Digimon came into his life but it felt like he always been there with him. Which was kind of true, they have been together ever since he landed in the Digital world.
He took a deep breath and felt his eyes getting teary. He looked away to wipe them away before turning his attention back to Calliope and her partner. "Sorry, getting a bit emotional..." And he laughed softly. The scene of them with his partner burning like a campfire and the distant sound of water flowing was kind of relaxing, to be honest. Looking at the girl next to him, he felt that he was still blushing, maybe not as much but his cheeks were still a bit pink. "Oh, don't move." He then said as he reached out and removed a leaf that was stuck in her hair. "There, missed one there." And then, Calliope took out a sleeveless coat. "We won't see much if we cover him though, maybe it's best to just let him rest like that. For now." After saying that he saw her take a med kit from her bag. To be fair, he had absolutely no idea what to do with his ankle. He looked at the girl without saying anything. "Erm..." He just didn't know what to say. "Do you need me to remove my shoe or something?" The blond tamer really hoped that she knew what she was doing.
Desmond would let her take care of his ankle without saying anything. He just stood still, unless she wanted to move his ankle around. "Oh... I think I did not answer your question earlier." He took a deep breath before talking. "I'm from Paris. Been living in Japan for a bit more than three years now." He wanted also tell her how boring his life was but maybe save that for later. "Sorry, I'm not very good with girls... I mean, people!" He said while blushing again. He never been very popular in school and had no luck with the girls at his high school. And he was pretty much a hermit for the last three years. Now that he thought of it, he didn't call his parent ever since. He felt a bit sad upon realizing that but quickly shook his head to remove those thoughts from his mind.
"You said that are looking for your brother, right?" The Frenchman was trying to recall the conversation they had before the fight with the Allomon. "I hope that he is alright, it's not always easy here." He then realized that maybe he shouldn't have said that. Talking like that might make Calliope worry more about her brother. "I mean, maybe he too has a partner to protect him." It was all he could think of in the spur of the moment. "I mean, I'm sure that he's alright." By now he was blushing pretty hard but not for the same reason. Desmond felt like he made a complete fool of himself. "He must be alright." He tried to sound convincing but the tone of his voice betrayed him. He really wanted for her brother to be alive but to be frank, he had his doubts.
Looking back at the DemiMeramon, the blond tamer could see that he was glowing a bit brighter now. But it could be just his imagination playing tricks on him. His eyes were glued to his partner and then looked at the Mudmon. "Maybe you will be as big as DemiMeramon was in that fight. You sure have that bravery in you." He said that to cheer them and also himself.
"I think that I'll need to stay here for a little longer..." And he paused to look at Calliope. And he just stood there, silent while looking at her face. Kind of awkwardly too. "I would love... I mean would like for you to stay... You know for safety?"

Caliope winced at the explanation “that was a pretty high jump” she took gymnastics so she learned how to land without getting hurt. She pulled her leg to her chest and placed her chin on her knees “you probably shouldn’t move it, if you try walking on it to much then you might make it worse.” She didn’t want him to hurt it worse than it was. The girl chuckled softly when he stated that they weren’t going to jump of any more cliffs “don’t say that it’s bad karma” though the cave seemed pretty safe they couldn’t leave their guard down entirely. She released her grip on her legs and crossed them when Desmond referred to DemiMeramon, she looked over at the little fireball to see his glow was getting a bit stronger. “isn’t it strange how things turn out?” she didn’t think about how the Digimon change him, when they first met she thought they knew each other for much longer. “you do a great job of taking care of him: he’s brave, strong, and helpful I’m sure he’s like that because you showed him how to be that.” she knew it was hard on him seeing DemiMeramon like that, and she didn’t want him to think it was his fault. Calliope placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder “don’t worry it won’t get to that point, DemiMeramon isn’t leaving you any time soon.” The girl didn’t blame him for worrying, he didn’t seem aware that DemiMeramon was capable of anything like that then after fighting such a big Digimon he collapsed. “you don’t need to apologize it shows you genuinely care for DemiMeramon” she patted Mudmon who rolled up and snuggled next to her. Looking over at the small Digimon she smiled, the little creature chirped happily at her new partner.
Calliope turned back to Desmond and froze when he said don’t move, in her head she thought it meant there was something behind her. The girl let out a sigh of relief finding it was just a leaf in her hair “you gave me a fright” she paused for a moment then giggled “thanks for getting it.” she folded the coat when Desmond stated it would be better for him to be uncovered “alright let me know if you change your mind.”
She wasn’t a doctor but she knew how to care for basic injuries with what she learned from her mother. Calliope nodded when he inquired about taking off his shoe “it will make it a lot easier.” She took a quick look at his ankle and spoke up “a trick I learned from my mother,it was to know the injure your taking care of, an easy way she told me to remember is that if the person can’t move the wounded area then its most likely broken… but since you were able to walk it’s most likely severely sprained” she rummaged through the medical kit and pulled out wrapping and an ice pack “all you need is compression, ice, and elevation.” She patted her leg to tell him to prop it up for her. Calliope listened to where he was from “Paris? I’ve only ever heard about it from others, but I have always wanted to visit, it sounds like a lovely place” she brightened up a bit.
She heard him clearly say he wasn’t good with girls but she wasn’t going to embarrass him for it “for someone who isn’t very good with people you’re pretty sweet” she spoke honestly. The girl didn’t forget why she was here, but she didn’t want to overstress herself over what she couldn’t control “mhmm he came here investigating some odd disturbances and he just vanished…” she knew he was smart and could probably take care of himself but after being attacked by the Allomon she feared that he would be in danger. She stared off into space for a moment when he said it wasn’t always easy in this world “r-right…” she looked back at him for a moment, she understood what he was trying to do, he was trying to make her feel better “you’re probably right, he’s pretty smart and knows how to stay out of trouble.” It encouraged her a bit more making her more determined to find him. Mudmon contently listened to Desmond say that she could be strong like DemiMeramon when he fought Allomon, the little Digimon chirped happily “Muuuu muuuuuuuu!” Calliope raised a brow when he stated he needed to stay there a bit longer, then just looked at her. She didn’t say anything in case he had any further comments on the matter, fortunately he clarified his comment “right, I don’t think either of us are in any condition to go anywhere it’s safer here for now” she wanted to go find her brother as soon as possible but she didn’t want to leave Desmond so abruptly especially when DemiMeramon was hurt.

The blond tamer winced a bit as he lifted his leg slightly for Calliope to put ice on it. "Ouch." He looked at his ankle without saying anything. But secretly, he was more looking at the girl that was next to his ankle hoping that she wouldn't see that he was pretty much staring at her. "Here, can you put that under my ankle?" He asked before showing her his jacket that he removed earlier. "Maybe fold it? Might help me keep it off the ground." He was too far from her to give her the jacket so he would wait for her to notice him before softly throwing it at her. He did have to admit that the ice was nice, it wasn't magic but it did make it less painful, if just a little bit. "Thanks."
"Paris is nice." The Frenchman said proudly. "I kind of miss it. Been three years but yet, feels like forever." three years since he started working in his little shop. He doesn't really chat with his customers. It was mostly, Hi and How can I help you. To be fair, he didn't really make the effort to start a discussion neither. He was okay with that minimal interaction. Not that he was pretty much stuck in here with Calliope and their partners, he felt like he could talk about more things than just the usual greetings. Looking at the small fireball who was still unconscious, Desmond sighed and looked at the ground. He didn't want to look too sad. He had to have faith and he wanted to believe that he was going to be alright. The tamer had not much to do besides waiting now anyway.
Desmond then smiled and adjusted his glasses when Calliope said that he was pretty sweet for someone that isn't good with people. To be frank, he adjusted his glasses just to use his hand to hide the fact that he blushing. It has been a long while since he had a real conversation with someone let alone a beautiful girl. He was happy that she agreed to stay. He didn't know a lot about her but deep down, he kind of had that small silly crush on her already. Not that he was going to admit it. She probably just doesn't see him like that anyway. And maybe he had that silly crush because she was the one that stayed after all that. She could have gone away to find her brother but she decided to stay, with him. And DemiMeramon of course.
The male adult had that scene in his head where his partner would jump back into consciousness and come to make a group hug altogether. But that didn't happen. He needed something to distract him from worrying too much about his partner. Sighing heavily, Desmond looked into the darkness for a moment. The more he tried to not think about the Digimon, the more it made him worry. He cursed in his mind and chased those thoughts away by shaking his head before going back to look at Calliope and her partner. "Sorry, I thought I heard something..." It was a big lie. He didn't want her to know that he was still worrying that much.
Looking at the ground between his legs, Desmond tried to find something to say but he just stood silent. His eyes slowly moved to take a quick glance at the girl. Now, his cheeks went pink, which was maybe hard to see due to the dim light, but if she would look carefully, she might be able to see it. He was thinking about how pretty she was right now that she was next to him. He would slowly move his head to look at her face and awkwardly smile. "Thanks... For staying." It took him like three seconds to say that. He was going to say, with me but decided not to. While he found her being beautiful and a brave girl for risking her life to save them against the Allomon, she most likely just think of him as a random guy that just happened that be there when she landed in this world. Yeah, he was just a random guy.
Calliope might have seen that he was like staring at her with an awkward smile by now. If she were to look at him, she would see that he was looking at those icy blue eyes of hers. However, Desmond did not notice that maybe he kept eye contact for a bit too long for comfort. He just lost in those eyes and couldn't look away. His silly crush was clouding his mind. With the ambiance of the fire glowing from the DemiMeramon and the sound of water flowing somewhere, it was kind of romantic?
After another second of being hypnotized by her eyes, Desmond finally realized that he could have been making Calliope uncomfortable. "Sorry!" He said maybe too loud. "I mean, erm..." He was pretty red by now. "It just that... Erm..." It was clear that he couldn't think of any excuses to be looking at her like that. "Sorry?" Real smooth there, Desmond, real smooth.

Calliope cautiously placed the ice pack on his ankle as to not hurt him unintentionally “there it should prevent any swelling and help heal it faster” the girl paused for a moment when finishing settling the ice down to look at him when he asked about using the jacket to elevate his foot “right that’s a pretty good idea, here throw it to me and I’ll fold it” she caught the jacket when it was thrown to her and folded it up. She carefully picked up his foot enough to slide the folded jacket under and have it be elevated “there we go” she knew it would heal faster now that it was taken care of. She nodded when he thanked her “no problem at all.” The girl smiled as Desmond spoke about his home “my brother had some pictures from Paris that he showed me after one of his business trips, it looked beautiful, I’ll admit I was kind of jealous.” She paused when he said he missed his home “I know what you mean, being away from home is not always easy” she hasn’t even been away from home for very long, but the thought of how she wasn’t going to be able to go home any time soon made her feel more homesick. Mudmon snuggled next to her and she smiled petting the little Digimon “I always used to envy my brother for how he got to travel but now I know how he felt when he was away from home” she would remember her brother looking so relieved when he was home. The girl paused giggling “now I’m getting emotional” she shook off the thought looking a bit more upbeat.
Calliope picked up the little Digimon and placed it on her lap, the Mudmon Chirped happily at her “Muuu, Muuuu” she was curious why Mudmon didn’t talk like other Digimon, then thought about the fact Mudmon seemed pretty young so maybe when it was bigger it could learn. She ran her fingers across its head stroking it like a cat. Looking at Desmond she saw him adjusting his glasses thinking it might be because he couldn’t see in the dark so he tried to adjust the glasses to see better. Looking around her bag she pulled out her brother’s reading glasses she found by the Shibuya river “it’s a shame they broke, Niles isn’t blind but he defiantly has a hard time reading without these” she ran her finger over the cracked lens “I’ll hold on to them just in case, maybe he’ll still want them” she could see her brother fawning and examining the small Digimon he would find while asking the larger ones endless question’s “knowing Niles he will be studying Digimon in every instance he gets” she laughed to herself about the though. She folded up the glasses and carefully placed them back in her bag.
Looking over at Desmond she saw he was staring off into the darkness of the cave “…?” she didn’t want to bring him out of thought when he was so focused and in thought. She looked over at the deeper areas of the cave, she didn’t see anything looking back at Desmond she saw he was out of thought and he shook his head. She thought for a moment when he said that he heard something, she hoped there weren’t any dangerous Digimon in the caves “I hope that there isn’t anything bad in the cave” it was a good enough cover story to get her focused on the cave with a bit of concern. Hugged Mudmon a bit close to her before relaxing, she thought there was no point in worrying about something that might not be there. She looked back over at Desmond seeing he was a bit pink “are you okay? You look a bit feverish” oblivious to his thoughts she thought the cave being cold was starting to get him sick. She was about to reach for her med kit when she heard him thank her for staying “ah, your welcome” she smiled. Calliope didn’t know why he thanked her for staying, she knew it would be wrong of her to leave especially after he helped her so much and was even injured while helping her. She couldn’t just leave him alone to go find her brother, it felt immensely selfish to do so. She was thinking so hard about it she didn’t notice him staring until a bit after, even then she thought he was simply lost in thought, maybe he was making a plan or something. She was about to tap his shoulder when he snapped himself out his trance. She quickly retracted her hand and chuckled “it’s alright you were pretty deep in thought there” she placed her hands over Mudmon’s head, he seemed pretty embarrassed by it “there’s not too much to look at in this cave other than each other so it’s pretty easy to end up getting focused” She smiled.
Calliope looked off into the cave before letting out a sigh “Desmond… can you be honest with me?” she paused for a moment looking a bit disheartened “dose it get easier being in this world?” Mudmon looked up at her tamer looking a bit sad as the girl continued “I don’t mind being here, but I just want to know that it isn’t going to be the end being here” she looked like she was on the verge of tears “never mind… I probably sound pathetic, huh?” she wasn't normally like that but she was in a strange world and she didn't know what to expect.

Desmond touched his cheeks with both hands and felt the warmth of his skin. He was blushing, no doubt about it. Fortunately, while Calliope seemed to have noticed his face getting red, she might not have seen that she was the reason why he was blushing that way. "I'm fine!" He said again, maybe too loud. His voice echoed a bit upon saying that. "I mean, yeah, I'm fine, no really." And he tried to hide that he as red by looking away for a second. He felt stupid being in such a state of mind. He didn't even know her that well. Besides that she is from Greece and looking for her brother Niles. Also that she is very pretty. The blond tamer cursed in his mind for thinking of her like that. Not because she wasn't pretty, more like because he couldn't get her beautiful face out of his head. Taking one deep breath, he nodded and turned his attention back to the girl with the blue eyes.
The Frenchman readied himself when she asked him to be honest. He held his breath for a second but quickly exhaled when she asked if things get easier. He wasn't prepared for that question so he just took a moment to think. Part of him wanted to just say that everything will be alright but that as a lie. So far, it wasn't easy. He got chased by another Digimon, also got eating by that Allomon, most likely twisted his ankle and now his partner was unconscious. Staying silent for another moment, Desmond looked down then back to her and shook his head. She wasn't going to like what he was about to say. At least that is what he thought. "It doesn't."
Taking another deep breath, Desmond had a hint of melancholy in his voice. That was probably not what she wanted to hear but she asked him to be honest. And sincerely, he didn't want to say that to her. "I mean, It's not that bad neither. But it's not like the real world, I mean, our world." And he paused to gather his thoughts. He really, really wanted to tell her that everything will be alright and that it is a wonderful world to explore and all that but, it wasn't what he saw so far. "But no, it doesn't really get easier."
"I'm sure we will find your brother though." He then said with a smile. "If he is as brave and resourceful as you are, he's still alive somewhere." He did his best to look like he wasn't just saying that to make her feel good. He tried to look sincere. But Desmond didn't believe what he said, not entirely. "This world is big, it won't be easy finding him..." And he looked up for a second. "But we won't give up." He then realized that he kept saying we and not she. He wasn't sure if she would stay around once they get back on their feet. But who can blame her? The blond tamer was just here to learn more about his partner and honestly to escape reality. She had a much bigger quest. And besides, he wasn't going to be that useful. After all, he froze many times against that Allomon. if anything, he would slow her down.
Desmond sighed heavily. "To be fair, if anything, I'm the one being pathetic." He admitted. While he didn't want to play the I'm just an idiot card, it was kind of true. What did he really accomplished in life? He doesn't have friends, at least not one that he spoke to in years. He doesn't even know if his parents are doing okay. He just works and works and works. Landing in the Digital world was the most exciting event that happened to him. He didn't really want to go back home. Well, that would be a half lie. Part of him did want to go back home with his partner. But the Digimon did seemed to enjoy himself more in this world. They became friends. Speaking of the Digimon, the DemiMeramon was still glowing faintly. Desmond could see him move ever so slightly but it could just his mind playing tricks on him. He wanted so bad to see him move, maybe he was just his imagination.
After a moment of not speaking, Desmond turned his attention back to Calliope. "What do you think will happen when we find your brother?" He then asked with curiosity. He wasn't blushing anymore, which was great for him. "Are you going back to the real world?" He was sure that she was going to say yes. Who would want to stay here more than needed? Well, he did but unlike her, he didn't really have a reason like her to stay here. "You do want to go back home, right?"

Calliope tilted her head at him when he said he was fine, it was a bit louder than his normal tone. Him saying it again then suddenly looking away from her didn’t do too much to convince her he was alright “alright let me know if you don’t feel alright” she picked up the med kit and placed it back into her bag. Looking back at him she wondered why he was suddenly acting a bit strange, he wasn’t like that as far as she was aware when they first met. Mudmon watched the entire scene play out giving a small sigh and shook it’s head. Calliope went silent for a moment looking at Mudmon who just shrugged if the tamer’s inquisitive look.
When she asked If the world was going to get easier to be in, the last thing she wanted was a sugar coated answer, it irritated her when people make it seem like a bad situation isn’t that bad in order to protect people: it just made the down fall so much worse. The girl almost held her breath as she waited for his answer. For what happened to her so far while she was here she knew it possibly wasn’t the worst thing that could of happen or even will. She felt her brother was going to be alright, no matter how hard the world pushed at him he was going to push back, but she was somewhat afraid of what this world was going to be like. She saw him shake his head, then the words struck her ears… it doesn’t. As soon as she heard him say it she looked down at the ground her hair blocking her face from his sight. The girl quietly listened as continued his explanation about the difficulty of this world. it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t the real world either. She was unresponsive to the further explanation until he stated that he was sure they would find her brother. “you know… it doesn’t matter if this world doesn’t get easier” she looked up with a smile “it just means I have to get stronger, right Mudmon?” the little Digimon perked up squeaking happily at her trainer.
When he stated him being brave and resourceful as her would mean he’s okay she chuckled “Niles is the reason I was prepared with a backpack when I came here, he’s always prepared” it made her feel less tense about the situation “if anyone can survive in a strange world, it would be him.” She picked up Mudmon and held her up “I don’t care how big this world is, I won’t give up on Niles” Calliope paused hearing him then smiled “we won’t give up” she looked over at Desmond when he started downing himself saying he was pathetic. She huffed a bit “Don’t down yourself like that!” she paused a bit from her abruptness “I mean you shouldn’t say things like that about yourself, your not pathetic” Calliope didn’t like it when people talked down about themselves. “think about it… you went out of your way to help a stranger, stuck by when they were in danger and even risked your life for them… a truly pathetic person wouldn’t have even helped me get out of the bush, so don’t ever consider yourself pathetic.” Mudmon squeaked and nudged her tamer, the girl let out a sigh “s-sorry, it’s probably not any of my business but it’s not something I take lightly from anyone.” now she turned a bit red normally she was calm but she now realized she went a bit ballistic on him.
She stayed quiet until Desmond asked what she thought would happen when they found her brother, the red slowly faded away as she thought about her answer. Smiling a bit she responded “well first I’m going to hit him for disappearing and worrying the family half to death.” She then thought harder about it “I haven’t really thought about what happens after we find him I was more concerned about the finding him part.” she didn’t know what she was going to do afterwards “I guess it depends on my brother… if he really ends up wanting to stay here then I won’t plan on leaving him alone” she ran a few fingers through her hair “the big if is if we can even get back home, I don’t know how to get back even if I wanted to.” Calliope thought about everything she left behind at home “If I wanted to stay it would feel a bit selfish of me to simply leave everyone behind in the real world.” she reached over gently placing a hand on DemiMeramon “isn’t there anyone in the real world you left behind?”

While Desmond wasn't really in the right mood, Calliope's optimism was contagious. He couldn't help but smile like her. It was easy to see that she was much stronger he is. But that was okay, it just meant that he should try harder. He laughed softly and looked at the Mudmon and then at the girl holding the Digimon. "I was not prepared for this world, at all." He then said looking at his ankle. He moved his toes a bit but tried to not move his ankle too much even if it was tempting just to see how if it was getting better. "I got sucked into my laptop with DemiMeramon and with whatever I had in my pockets. Which isn't much." The blond tamer then admitted. It wasn't really his fault that he didn't have the chance to be prepared for all of this. He had his cellphones, Digivice, and headphones. Not much of survival kit, not at all in fact. Maybe he should go back to the real world and grab some supplies. But he doesn't know how to come back here even if he wanted. His laptop wasn't going to suck him in again unless Netflix is that evil.
"Speaking of getting sucked in, how did you land in here?" He asked with curiosity. He wasn't sure if he asked that before, it was pretty much blurry in his mind most likely because of the fight with the Allomon. "Please tell me that it wasn't Netflix's fault." He was trying to make a joke but realized that he didn't mention that it was on Netflix on his laptop. Rolling his eyes, Desmond sighed and looked up then down. "Niles seems like a nice brother. I don't have any siblings. I was pretty much the shy kid that people only notice because of my height. I had few friends, not much and didn't contact them in years." Speaking of that made him feel kind of pathetic. He quickly shook his head. Calliope told him to not think of himself like that so he chased his thoughts away by looking at the girl. He could just get lost in her eyes and focus on that. That is going enough to distract him, for now.
The Frenchman then saw something move. His attention quickly shifted to look at his partner. The DemiMeramon had changed position, he rolled on his back a tiny bit. Desmond wanted to jump to get a closer look but as he began moving, the pain in his ankle stopped him. Grimacing for a second, the blond tamer cursed in silence. "Hmmm..." That was the fire Digimon that made that sound. "Demi... DemiMeramon?"He slowly whispered. His partner rolled again few centimeters on one side then the other. He was waking up, if slowly. "DemiMeramon!" Desmond shouted in joy making the Digimon open his eyes. "Desmond?" The fireball weakly said as his body began floating off the ground. It was not clear that he has regained consciousness. "Desmond?" His eyes opened but closed again as he began rubbing them lazily. "Desmond?" He asked again like he couldn't see him.
Desmond had tears in his eyes. "I'm here, DemiMeramon!" He said with a joy in his voice. He really wanted to just go and hug him but knew that it would make it worse for his ankle. "Desmond?" The Digimon began spinning on himself to see where they were. It only took one rotation to have his blue eyes wide open. He would look at Calliope and then Demond. "Desmond!" And he began floating at him as fast as he could go. The blond tamer hugged his partner and tears fell off his eyes down to his cheeks. The DemiMeramon would snuggle his tamer and smile. His body was warmer now, he could feel it through his clothing. He was also a bit brighter. "You got me so worried." The Frenchman whispered to him. The Digimon would lift his head to look at his tears stained face. "Why are you crying?" He asked confused. "Did I do something wrong?"
"No, you didn't." Desmond quickly answered before letting go of the hug. He would still hold his partner if a bit at arm's length. "Then why are you crying?" People only cry when they are sad, at least that is what the Digimon thought. "I'm not crying." The human would say before wiping his tears with his sleeve. "Don't worry about that." He would say with a wide smile. "You saved me and Calliope and Mudmon too." The Digimon seemed pretty confused. "But I didn't do anything." Desmond stayed silent for a moment. "You did, nothing?" Did he not remember? "You turned into a larger Digimon and fought that dinosaur." Again, the fireball just looked at him clearly still confused. "I didn't do anything." He repeated. "You don't remember?" He wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing. However, Desmond did not felt like he should explain it to his partner that clearly became a child again. "Remember what?"
"You saved us." Desmond would simply say. "You did well. I'm proud of you." He felt like a father talking to his son. The DemiMeramon, still very confused by all this tilted his head and looked at his tamer like he was speaking another language. "You are proud of me?" The human nodded and looked at Calliope and Mudmon. "They are too, we are all proud of you."The DemiMeramon then pointed at her. "Desmond?" He would ask moving his hand in a small circular motion. "Can I hug her?" Desmond's left eyebrow rose up. "You want to hug her?" He wasn't expecting that question. "Why?"
"You smell bad. Calliope smells better." Desmond sighed. Yeap, he was back into his former self. Which was very recomforting to the tamer. "Go hug her." And he would place the DemiMeramon on the ground and he would make his way toward the lady with blue eyes. "Can I hug Calliope?" He would ask after stopping a few inches from her and Mudmon.

It made sense why Desmond wasn’t prepared for this world it, he was abruptly taken from his home so he couldn’t possibly predict the chance of traveling let alone across worlds. She was searching for something in a place far from her home, so she was ready to be away from home. “that must have been scary being sucked into your laptop” he didn’t even have the chance to realize what was happening before he ended up in this world. Calliope recalled the moments before being in the tree when he asked “I was at the Shibuya river, I suddenly got blinded by the Digivice then I fell back into the river, next thing you know I end up here in a tree.” she didn’t catch Desmond rolling his eyes but he heard him sigh, she didn’t get the chance ask what it was about when commented about her brother “he really is a nice brother to me, that’s why I’m going to find him” that’s why she wasn’t going to give up on him after everything he's done for her, she couldn't turn a blind eye to him. She listened when he stated how he wasn’t very social growing up “well now you have a new friend, 2 if you count Mudmon” the little Digimon chirped happily at being mentioned “and we all have that one trait that sets us apart from everyone else, it’s what makes us unique” she stated referring to his height.
The girl looked up when she saw Desmond suddenly focus on DemiMeramon, she placed a hand on his shoulder as he attempted to stand and his ankle stopped him. Calliope looked at the Digimon as he heard it make a noise, upon hearing Desmond’s response she knew she wasn’t the only one who noticed it. the little fireball moving made her smile, he was alright just as she said, it made her heart relieved. “DemiMeramon, thank god” she sighed in relief as the Digimon seemed to be fully awake now. She released the Mudmon from her grip and the little Digimon bounced up and down around DemiMeramon. the cave seemed a little less dark and grim when the Digimon fully awoken. The girl smiled as DemiMeramon charged for his tamer and hugged the blond boy “I’m so glad you’re alright” she was on the verge of tears herself but managed to keep herself from doing so. Calliope picked up Mudmon placing the little Digimon in her lap as the tamer and his Digimon had their reunion, remaining quiet to not ruin the sweetness of the moment. The whole cave seemed to become brighter and warmer from the previously heavy atmosphere. Calliope seemed a bit shocked when DemiMeramon asked why Desmond was crying, did he not realize how much he worried about him? “DemiMeramon you didn’t do anything wrong were all just glad your awake.” She looked at Desmond when DemiMeramon asked why he was crying, he was and it wasn’t that easy to hide it. She just chuckled when he said he wasn’t before wiping the tears away. She nodded when he stated that DemiMeramon had saved all 3 of them “he’s right, It was amazing how you chased off that Digimon he didn’t even know what hit him” Calliope was sure that it shocked all of them when the DemiMeramon suddenly turned into a larger Digimon that was able to defeat Allomon. She found it strange that he didn’t seem aware of his prior actions, did changing into the larger Digimon make him forget or did the fight itself cause that to occur? Calliope looked at the little fireball “your actions saved us from that Digimon if even if you don’t remember you have Mudmon and my thanks” Calliope simply smiled and nodded in agreement when Desmond said that he was proud then looked at them “you can count that for me too” the little Mudmon chirped on her lap “Mudmon is proud as well” she smiled. She raised a brow when the fireball suddenly pointed at her, the girl chuckled a bit when he suddenly asked to hug her “that certainly is the same DemiMeramon I know." She looked at Desmond when he suddenly asked why the Digimon wanted to hug her, the girl then stifled laughter when DemiMeramon responded “that’s not nice to say” she chuckled. At least DemiMeramon was back to normal, she was glad about that. Looking at the small Digimon as it asked to hug her she simply smiled and held her arms open “I can’t say no to that” she hugged the little Digimon then looked at Desmond. Without a second thought she threw and arm around him smiling “there now it’s a group hug” the little Mudmon bounced “Muuuuuuu, muuuuuuu!”

DemiMeramon was quite happy to hug Calliope. Even happier for the group hug although Desmond did smell kind of bad. The Digimon would snuggle into the girl's arms and take a good sniff. "Hmm! Calliope smells nice!" He said cheerfully. His tamer accepted the hug but sighed at the same time. "Do I smell that bad?" He began doubting himself. Maybe it was because he sweated a lot from that fight. Or maybe because he didn't shower in a long while now. Yeah, that could be a big factor. To answer the blond tamer's question, DemiMeramon nodded up and down. "You smell bad." He simply said and that made Desmond sighed again. "Calliope, do I really smell bad or is it just him trying to make fun of me?" It was an honest question. It could be his partner trying to be funny, he was like a child after all. "Desmond, you do smell bad." The fireball quickly said before Calliope could answer.
After that hug, Desmond would lean back slightly using his hands to stabilize himself. It was then that DemiMeramon began to poke his tamer. The Frenchman didn't react though, he simply looked at him poking his leg. "Desmond?" He quietly said his name. "Uh?" The Digimon kept poking his leg. "I'm hungry." Of course, that fight must have drained all of his energy or something. To be honest, Desmond was getting hungry too. "I don't have any food on me, DemiMeramon. You will have to wait a bit." That made the Digimon make a sad face and look at the ground. It looked so depressed for not having something to eat. His tamer sighed again. "Calliope? Do you happen to have some food on you that you would be willing to share with DemiMeramon?" He knew that the fireball wasn't picky, he would eat anything remotely that smells like food. Upon hearing that, the small Digimon quickly turned around to see Calliope with puppy eyes.
"You know, you guys could go look around for anything edible." Desmond then proposed. "It's pretty dark but you can take DemiMeramon with you two." His partner slowly turned his attention to the human. "You are not coming?" He asked before tilting his head to one side. The blond tamer shook his head and pointed to his ankle. "I can't walk on that leg so I need to rest for a bit." The Digimon didn't even notice his ankle until now. He would slowly make his way to it and poke it. "Ow." That sound made him look at Desmond's face. "Does it hurt?" And he poked again. "It does, please stop poking it." He said with his fatherly voice. The DemiMeramon eyes were glued to the tamer's face but gave the ankle another poke without looking at it. "Ouch, stop that." There was something funny seeing him grimace whenever he poked his ankle. He raised his finger in the air about to poke it once more but Desmond lifted a finger too. "If you poke it again, I will not feed you next time you ask for it." The Digimon stopped and looked worried now. His tamer would wait for a few seconds before speaking. "Don't be that worried, I'll feed when we get some food." The Digimon eyes lit up. "Really?" He asked with eyes wide open. "Yes, Really."
"Why don't you go play with Mudmon?" Desmond would ask. "Calliope, can I talk to you?" By now DemiMeramon began floating toward the other Digimon. "Hi!" He said before hugging the little Mudmon. "Oh, you are squishy!" He hugged her for a few more seconds before letting go. And he began poking the poor thing. He would randomly poke her in different places to see which part was squishier. He had no idea that maybe it was making her uncomfortable or even annoyed. After poking a few more times, he would then stop and get very close to her face, like an inch away. "Can you speak?" He would ask while tilting his head. So far all he heard was her saying: "Mu." Maybe she was still too young to said anything. In any case, DemiMeramon wanted to know.
Meanwhile, Desmond would wait for Calliope to come near him. "I think you should go explore the cave a bit, maybe not outside just yet in case the Allomon comes back." He looked at the girl trying to look confident. "I would just be slowing you down, so go on without me. And take DemiMeramon with you, I think that he can protect you and give you some light." He would pause a second before digging his left hand into his pockets. He took out his Digivice and took a good look at it. "Here, take that. I'm still not sure what it does but it glowed when DemiMeramon got bigger. I hope that it will do the same if you are in danger." He would extend his arm to give her the Digivice and then pull out his cell phone. "Not sure if you got yours and not even sure if it works in here but if anything, call me?" He would then give her his number before laughing a bit. "And that's the fastest I've ever given my number to a girl."
"So yeah, take him with you and try to find something to eat, or drink." Pausing to listen to the sound of water further into the cave, the Frenchman would take a look into the darkness. "Don't worry about me, I don't think that anything would happen to me." He did wish that he could go with them but with his ankle, he wouldn't get very far and he knew it. So it would be better for them to go on without him for now. "Hey, DemiMeramon." He then said louder to get his attention. The Digimon was mostly like trying to make Mudmon talk before hearing his tamer call his name. "Come here." The fireball floated toward him. "I need you to go with Calliope." He saw the Digimon's mouth open but Desmond placed a finger on him. "Listen. I need you to go with Calliope because I know that you are very strong. I need you to protect her, okay? Can you do this for me?" His partner wasn't sure. "I'll be fine, just take care of her, okay?" It was clear in his voice that he wasn't going to take no for an answer so, after a while, DemiMeramon nodded.
"Good." Desmond gave a soft pat on his partner and looked at Calliope. "Take your time, I got my music to keep me entertained for a few hours." And he would pause to smile. "You take care of them, alright?"

She knew DemiMeramon would enjoy the group hug with everyone but she didn’t know the Digimon was comparing their smells. She twitched slightly when the Digimon suddenly just smelled her, at first thought it was like having a puppy smell her but then she realized it talks and has an opinion on how they smell. She chuckled when he asked if he smelled then the Digimon suddenly confirming the question, she was going to tell the Digimon it isn’t polite to tell people they smelled bad but that was between DemiMeramon and Desmond. The girl was shocked when he suddenly asked if he smelled bad, she didn’t really want to get involved. The little Mudmon wiggled from the girl’s grip and sniffed the boy, it only blinked a few times then sniffed him again “I guess that means Mudmon doesn’t think you do” she smiled.
Calliope picked up the little Digimon and placed the creature on her lap. She simply stroked it’s head and looked at DemiMeramon when it began poking the blond tamer, looking up at Desmond she saw he wasn’t reacting to it. looking back at the Digimon she heard it state it was hungry, looking at Mudmon she realized she didn’t know what Digimon ate, how was she going to take care of her Digimon if she didn’t know what to feed it. the little creature looked at her “are you hungry too?” the creature nodded “muuuu…" she simply patted the little creature “it seems that we need to find food” she sighed she hope they were going to be able to find food while in the cave, she didn’t want to have to risk running into Allomon. Calliope turned to Desmond when he asked if she had food “no unfortunately I don’t, I only have an empty water bottle” looking down at DemiMeramon she sighed “I’m sorry if I had food I’d be glad to share.” The girl looked up at Desmond when he said they could look around for food and that they could bring DemiMeramon with them “that’s right, it will also give us the chance to scope out the cave maybe it leads somewhere.” She shook her head when DemiMeramon asked if Desmond was not coming “he needs to rest, if he doesn’t then he might hurt himself worse and no one wants that” she stood up and grabbed her bag. She turned around to see DemiMeramon and poke the blond tamer’s ankle “please don’t do that DemiMeramon that hurts him you know” she simply watched him do it again, dose he think it’s a game? Mudmon stuck by her tamer watching the Digimon poke the injured boy. It squeaked a bit displeased at DemiMeramon for proceeding with his shenanigans. Calliope patted the displeased Digimon she waited until the tamer presented a punishment if he was to do it again to say anything “DemiMeramon if you keep poking him he won’t heal” the Mudmon chirped in agreement.
When Desmond asked to speak to her she nodded her head and walked over taking a seat by him while Mudmon was approached by DemiMeramon. it remained still when the fireball hugged it only blinking a few times. It started squeaking when the Digimon began poking it, it kept shaking off each squish only to be poked once again. When the Digimon stopped poking her she looked up at it and inched back when it was getting in her face. When it asked if she could speak she shook a bit “muuuuuu muuuuu!” translation: no.
Calliope looked to Desmond when he said that she should go explore the cave but not outside “right, it’s not safe to go outside yet but the cave is to narrow for larger Digimon to come in” she didn’t like the idea of going off without him but all of them staying there and starving to death sounded even less favorable “alright, are you sure your going to be okay by yourself?” she was concerned about him being there when he wasn’t going to be able to run. She seemed a bit cautious when he held out the Digivice she didn’t know how to use it let alone use it in the case of an emergency. “I hope it works, I’ll keep it safe” she carefully grasped onto the device. She pulled out her phone; she wasn’t sure if it would work but it was safer to have that possibility then simply brush it off. She chuckled when he stated it was the fastest he’s ever given a girl his phone number “is that so.” She looked through her bag “if I can’t find any food I’ll be sure to bring back water that way we’ll have something” she was curious to find the source of the running water sound. When he told her not to worry about him she sighed “I can’t help it I haven’t been here but a day and everything that occurred doesn’t really put me in ease for leaving you alone.” When Desmond addressed DemiMeramon Mudmon hopped along to her tamer. The girl picked the little Digimon up and stood up ready to explore the cave. If DemiMeramon really didn’t want to leave Desmond she wasn’t going to force him to do so. She felt bad for the little Digimon as it reluctantly agreed to join her in searching out the cave. “be careful Desmond” she held the little Mudmon close and nodded when he said to take care of them “I promise I will and ill be back as soon as I can” she turned on her heel and started heading in the direction of one of the tunnels she followed the sound of the rushing water. After walking for what felt like 20 min she spotted the source of the water: an underwater stream flowing through a hollow cavern “wow, that’s impressive” Calliope looked at both the Digimon. She walked towards the running before pausing at the sound of rumbling behind her.

Desmond smiled and nodded at Calliope when she asked if he was going to be alright. "Don't worry about me." He said. "I promise I won't run away without you guys." It was a joke, not a great one but still a joke. He kept his smile so that his partner would think that he was going to be okay. "Come give me a hug." The Digimon looked at the ground and then Calliope kind of sad before shaking his head or whole body in his case. He did inch closer to his partner without looking at him. "Is something wrong?" The blond tamer asked a bit concerned. "You don't want to hug me?" Desmond was quite surprised, he wasn't expecting that. It will take the DemiMeramon a few seconds before getting at arm's length of the human. He gently placed his hands on each side and lift the Digimon off the ground and hugged him. "Are you alright?" He whispered to him. But no answer from the Digimon. "Hey, look at me." Desmond lifted him to have him face to face. The fireball had puppy eyes. "I need you to protect Calliope and Mudmon." He said gently. "I will be just fine." Keeping his smile, the Frenchman would grab both of his partner's cheek and pulled them making it smile. "Go now, and don't get into trouble."
And with that Desmond waved goodbye to the three of them until he couldn't see the light of his partner. He then sighed before putting on his headphones and plug it into his cellphone. He still had a little bit under fifty percent, he should good for a long while. He knew he could trust Calliope with DemiMeramon. He just wanted to make sure that his partner will be enough to protect them if they run into another wild Digimon. He pressed play on his cell phone and the music started. Closing his eyes, Desmond slowly laid his head on the ground with his hood under it his head. "They are going to be fine, Desmond." He said to himself. "They are so much braver than you are. They will be just fine." And with that, he let the music cradle him into a short rest.
DemiMeramon was moving in a zigzag pattern next to Calliope. He knew that she needed him as a light source so he tried to stay close. He would slowly go to the right and then left and back and forth. "Mu." He then said out faintly. He would then turn around and float backward to look at the other Digimon. "Mu?" He would say. He was just saying that to mess with Mudmon. "Can you understand us?" He then asked while tilting his head. He then smiled widely and had that mischevious look on his face. "Muuuuuuuu!" He began moving his arms up and down. It was clear that he was having fun. "Mu? Muuuu! Muuuuuuuu!" And he would do so for the next thirty seconds before going back to moving forward.
He then tried to whistle like he saw Desmond do before but failed to produce any sound. But he still tried for about two minutes before giving poking the girl tamer. "Calliope?" He would say her name to get her attention. "Desmond makes that sound with his mouth." He tried to whistle to show her what he meant by sound but he was just blowing air out of his mouth. "Can you do that too?" He then asked hoping that she would say yes and be kind to show him how to do it. He really wanted to learn that to show Desmond that he learned something new.
After a few more minutes, the DemiMeramon was trying to find something to distract himself. The sound of moving water could be clearly heard by now. He wasn't sure how he felt about that, a large amount of water. Sure, he drank stuff before but he had no idea what would happen if he falls into the water. Will he just turn into smoke and get deleted? He shivered a bit upon thinking of that. He even stopped moving for a second and look at Calliope. "Calliope?" He would poke her leg once and cover his mouth with his hands. "Are you scared of water?" He asked shyly. "Desmond told me that water can be dangerous even for someone as tall as he is." But then, he never saw Desmond anywhere close to a large pool of water. Maybe he too was scared of it? "Is water scary?" He was getting worried. He had that mental image of water with a giant mouth going to eat him.
The Digimon would ask some other random questions and sometimes make fun of Mudmon until about twenty minutes in. He could now see the underground river. he stayed next to the girl and even hide behind her legs. He was a bit afraid, but curious as well. Waiting for Calliope to do something, he actually stood silent for once. He would look up and behind him when he heard the rumbling. Making himself as little as possible, the DemiMeramon was trying to stay behind the girl tamer. But then, he remembered what Desmond told him. He needed to protect them. Taking a deep breath and making an angry face, he floated in front of Calliope and Mudmon and tried to make himself as big as he could this time around. "I'm not scared of you!" He shouted. Maybe he shouldn't have said that too loud.
