Everything felt like a dream.
To Ry, at least, it did. It had only been mere days since he went to the volcanoes, to where he had acquired his new power, but it all still felt like a dream.
It felt unreal, the power that he was holding. Even though he was only in his human form, he could feel the dormant power inside of him. It was in his arms, extending from the tips of his fingers, to his shoulders, down to his legs as well. Every single inch and length of his body was full of this power, but the one place he could feel his power pooling most in was his heart. His heart felt like a whirlpool of overwhelming power.
It felt exhilarating.
He grinned to himself, his D-Tector clutched in his hand. He finally found it, the power he had been searching for all this time. His life's goal, life's purpose, had finally seemed clearer than just a hazy, unknown path.
But of course, he had to figure out how to activate his power first.
Ry sighed, it had been days since he's been out in these fields. Each morning he'd come out, try to figure out to activate his power, then each night he'd come back to the inn. But no matter what he tried doing, he tried screaming, throwing punches blindly, running laps here and there, were not enough to activate the D-Tector.
He shook the D-Tector wildly, "Come on, work!" he grumbled. Maybe if he focused solely on his D-Tector, it'd work. So he clutched his D-Tector as hard as he can, spreading his legs and bending them for further stability as he concentrated his energy in his arms, "HNNNNNNNNG!"

It... had gotten better. Cion did not remember how long it had been since she and her former love and current brother Owen had contributed her part on fixing the devastated Network Plains, but the result was clear as day. Where once machines of war and debris littered the fields was now the radiant green of grass and the varying colors of flowers and similar plants. Nothing tropical or exotic, but it was a beautiful environment to watch regardless. Simple yet charming, that was the way the vulpine digimon enjoyed things in spite of her vast riches she had accumulated within the time span of less than a full year.
The tiny, restrained but inherently powerful shape of her apex form sat comfortably inside the cockpit of her most faithful partner - Vertigo the AceJetmon Mach Mode - a living super-aircraft and center of attention of many gapers envying his sleak design and unrivaled speed, not to mention his enchanting butler-esque personality and synthetic voice. With the endeavor of the crimson parasite behind them, an enjoyable trip through the digital world was exactly what the two needed. For the sentient airplane it was akin to a dog relishing a walk, and the rider considered beholding this realm's beauty balm to her soul.
A mere speck in the sky that left a faint, white trail, they felt unbound by earthly worries and responsibilities. As much as at least the platinum, bipedal fennec savored improving the status quo of this planet and its people, an occasional moment of respite must not be missed sadly. Absolute altruism, unsolicitous self-sacrifice and excessive strain were mistakes a too large amount of individuals who thought of themselves as good did. Though she too had once held this mindset, she had comprehended how fatuous and ineffective to accomplish higher tasks it truly was.
However, that did not mean she and her companion did not happily lend someone in need a helping hand. A scream Vertigo's sensors picked up from beneath them was a perfect signal for them to check out.
Merely a couple of seconds later and the echoes of booming engines resounded throughout the titanic, open area, steadily increasing in volume as the intelligent jet descended with reckless velocity. Yet the loudness was rather muted compared to machinery utilized on Earth - the plane's composition clearly far more advanced and considerate of bystanders than what common physics allowed. The magic of digital existence... making ear plugs obsolete.
As the short flora of the even lands surrounding Terminus waved back and forth due to the approaching vehicle, its pace decreased to zero within a heartbeat, firmly hovering above the ground before landing a dozen or 2 steps away from the source of the outcry- a blond, adolescent human. Most systems of the 15 meters long, mechanical being shut down, returning the typical serene tranquility to the Network Plains.
The vitreous roof of the cockpit opened up and a silver fox barely the height of a toddler wearing a short, green scarf leaped out of it, elegantly sliding down the jet's side and coming to a halt on the edge of its inner wing. Sitting there, she gave a confident nod to the humanoid stranger. "Good day, sir." Both Cion and Vertigo spoke unison - as much as the voice of a massive machine and a female teenager were able to be in accord.
However, the former did not hesitate to act as the dominant part of this conversation. "My comrade has picked up your scream, so we were worried. Is everything okay?" She asked kindly, a winning, slightly toothy smile gracing her snout.

"HNNNNNNNNNNNNG!" Ry emphasised louder than before, determined to make this work, "Come on, didn't that guy said I inherited his power or something? Why won't it work for me now?"
All of the sudden, Ry could feel some sort of... Breeze hit him? No, it wasn't really like a breeze, perhaps it was more of a small shockwave? But what was it around him that could have sent a shockwave? Oh no, it wouldn't be like those drilly mole things again, would it? The ones who were trying to capture and arrest him for no reason at all, aside from association?
And then just as sudden, what seemed like a jet appeared right in front of him, stopping just before hitting him. Ry was knocked off his feet in his surprise, dropping his D-Tector as well at the same time, "Woah!"
Ry's eyes went wide, there was such a thing as fighter jets in the Digital World too, and they weren't just a human invention? This world never ceased to stop surprising him. He dusted himself off as the cockpit began to open, and Ry picked himself and his D-Tector up as the small silver fox-like creature came out of the cockpit.
Just as he thought his eyes couldn't get any wider, the fighter jet began to speak. He's seen his fair share of monsters speaking since he's gotten to the Digital World and introduced to digimon, but a fighter jet speaking? "I, uh, what?" he replied, flabbergasted, pointing at the fighter jet in confusion.
"Oh, um," Ry tried to answer the silver fox's question, a little embarassed by making a scene, "Sorry about that, nothing's wrong at all. I've just been trying to get my D-Tector to work and practice evolving, but I'm not sure how to get it working, so I've been trying everything. Sorry for making you two worry."
He tightened his grasp on his D-Tector and glanced back at the fighter jet, "Is that jet... a digimon?"

Confused and a loss of word - yes, that was definitely the reaction Cion was used to by humans who were still new to the digital realm of existence. She could not blame them for they originated from a planet with only a single type of sentient entity, themselves, which was obviously a fact that did not apply to this world. Intelligent mammals, aquatic creatures, machines, elemental beings and many more. Such a varied biosphere filled with coenesthesia was naturally bewildering for an outsider. But the silver fennec and her synthetic companion were gentle and understanding individuals, giving the blond lad all the time he needed to comprehend the situation that unfolded in front of him.
Clearing her throat, the restrained Arniomon calmly listened to the male stranger's response, her winning smile widening ever so slightly upon hearing that he was alright. The unpracticed boy had merely attempted to tap into the powers he had been granted when first entering this dimension. "Oh that is fine. We're just happy to know that you are okay. So I take it you are a novice spirit-wielder?" Cion stated kindly before expressing her curiosity. She had never heard the term 'D-Tector' prior to this encounter, hence she was eager to receive information from someone with 'experience'.
Pushing herself off her friend's wing, the bipedal fox landed gracefully on the grassy ground. Taking in a deep breath and stretching herself, she took a copious moment to savor the fresh air and pleasant warmth of the sun. Sitting for a long period simply required some solid footing afterwards, and she was at times a frugal soul who found great joy in the simplest of things - like a walk in the park, a foam bath or plain fare.
Sighing with a cute simper on her lips, she folded her arms behind her back and slowly approached the human by skipping carefreely. Her voluminous, white neck-pelt and large tail swayed in the breezes of today's genial weather, as did her green scarf. Yet just as she was about to answer the chap's question, her partner claimed the initiative with a jolly tone to his artificial, British voice. "Indeed, sir. Vertigo's the name - speed's my fame. At your service." The ascended AceJetmon replied, delighting his female comrade with the unobtrusive pride he displayed. In her eyes, he had certainly earned to stand strong and tall.
Chuckling, the Arniomon stopped upon meeting the blond stranger halfway, hoping he'd accept her invitation for a proper introduction. Reaching out her soft paw towards him, she patiently awaited the classic sign of trust and peace - a handshake. "And I am Cion - do-gooder to a fault." She introduced herself, giggling briefly in awareness of her sometimes intrusive nature to help others. But hey; she fancied making acquaintances, so it was a win-win situation for her regardless.

The blonde man glanced back between the fox and the fighter jet, so far they didn't seem intent on arresting him for no reason or hurting him in any sort of way, so they're definitely already in his good books by now. It seemed as if everything on this planet wanted to kill him in some way aside from these two. He hoped? Or maybe they have a secret agenda.
No, he can't turn paranoid now! He shook his head to clear his mind, he hoped that his confusion or paranoia or suspicion showed in his expressions. Shit, he was being rude right now, wasn't he? He almost didn't catch anything the fox said to him in return, but he was glad he was able to focus right when the fox was expressing her sympathies for him.
"Uh, yeah, I'm okay, thank you for checking up on me. Guess there are good people and digimon in this world too, huh? That's good to hear," Ry's trademark smirk appeared once more, maybe they really were good people, and if they were, that's definitely a good thing, "Yeah, well, I would be a novice spirit wielder if my D-Tector worked, but it hasn't been working for me at all."
Ry tapped the screen of his D-Tector with the back of his other hand, "I only just received... my power... a couple days ago, the being said that I was the inheritor of the spirit of bombardment, or something like that," he half-said, half-muttered to himself, contemplating whilst talking to the two new arrivals, "I haven't been able to spirit evolve since, or whatever it's called."
The fox jumped off the fighter jet and stretched, which was something that Ry felt as if he needed to do himself. The stress and thinking the last few days had been weighing on him so much, he felt sore and strained all over. So he followed her lead and stretched his arms out himself, sighing afterwards. There, a little better.
So he was a bit caught off-guard when the fox leapt over whilst he was just finishing his stretch, as if she was examining him for a little bit. But it was then that the fighter jet answered his question, sounding right out of a Bond movie too along with it, "That's pretty cool, nice to meet you man," he replied, "I didn't know that fighter jets can be digimon too."
"Oh!" he reached out to shake the fox's hand, "It's nice to meet you too, I'm Ry, by the way. Sorry I didn't introduce myself earlier."
He glanced between the two digimon, surely one of them might help him right? It seemed that digimon were masters at digivolution anyways, or whatever the process was called, "Hey, this might sound like a weird request, but do you guys know how to digivolve?" he asked, feeling a little awkward as he did so, "Any hint or tip might help me out."

"I'd say a majority are decent folks. I'm sorry if your early impression have not been the best." Was Cion's sincere comment to the lad's disheartening statement. That was the first time she had witnessed anyone having such an implicitly negative opinion of the digital realm, though she figured that there was always someone having to suffer the burden of misfortune. She grasped that sentiment all too well. However, surrendering to despair was something she had vowed to retort with every ounce of her willpower, so perhaps this was the chance to give a dissatisfied soul the amicability he needed to change his opinions.
"Still, it's our pleasure, and I am certain you will get attuned with the concept of digivolution in due soon. Everyone eventually does." The silver fennec encouraged the young adult to keep on trying. In the end, there were only benefits to gain and nothing to lose from putting effort into the fantastic miracle that was rapid ascendance - an aspect entities from Earth were not too familiar with. The real world counterpart was probably metamorphosis, but that was an arduously slow process. Perish the thought digimons requiring weeks to shape-shift...
Yet for a spirit specialized on bombardment that would have likely been for the better. But the stranger seemed amiable enough, hence she pushed aside the idea that he might utilize his explosive nature for mischievous deeds. Ultimately, tentative trust was the foundation of any relationship, ergo she was happily willing to grant it. Besides, she had plenty of powerful friends that possessed quite destructive powers, including herself and her mechanical companion, but used them responsibly and for the greater good. Who knows? Maybe this planet's next valiant defender stood in front of her.
"Thank you, sir. The pleasure's all mine. And if you are surprised to learn that I am a digimon, then golly you haven't seen the half of us." Vertigo joked, his voice displaying appreciation and his signature pride. Nevertheless there was undeniable truth to his assertion. The digital world harbored creatures that were possibly beyond the man's comprehension. Living puppets, sentient trains, an ape mimicking Elvis...
Delighted by the human's action of accepting her offer that a trusting handshake, Cion showed similar elation of making a new acquaintance in Ry. "Nice to meet you, too. And no reasons to apologize - we made quite the... striking appearance I imagine." The restrained Arniomon pronounced her unwound attitude. As much as she enjoyed carrying herself with grace and mannerism, her bestial idiosyncrasies also sought sereneness whenever possible. It was a duality that was at times strenuous to cope with, but among relaxed people she had seldom a problem to let a little bit loose.
As introductions were finished, a moment of silence passed the group by until the duo's most recent pal asked them a very important question. Giving each other looks of bafflement, the tiny fox blew a raspberry as she scratched her chin. "Obviously, we do. It's... an act of willpower... akin to concentration. But similar to reaching adulthood, your body and mind must mature properly through experience. Eventually, you will feel and understand that you are ready, and then you embrace what you want to be. That's why intense emotions can briefly accelerate the process, although I would not depend on it. It can leave you... completely overwrought."
Was this a satisfying, perspicuous answer? Likely not for a human who had never digivolved before, but it appeared to be the best way to describe this conscious instinct. Folding her arms, Cion shrugged, hoping it was enough to help out the lad.

"Ah, I'm sorry if what I said was offensive, I didn't mean to offend you and your home world," he flustered, he remembered that he needed to keep his habit of speaking so straightforwardly in check, he didn't know these people and moreover, he knew that digimon could definitely kick his ass if he said the wrong thing once. Especially since he was still unable to activate and tap into his power just yet, "It's just that uh, it's been a whirlwind of events ever since I came here. I have met quite a few very nice people! It's just, well, being arrested for no reason and getting lost in a forest and then getting attacked by a random girl is..."
Ry trailed off, there wasn't much else that he needed to say to emphasise his point. Overall, his first experience in the Digital World was less than becoming of what he thought it would have been like, "But the Digital World is definitely an interesting place," he admitted to both himself and to the two digimon, "It's so much more different to the human world, and I have to admit, the human world is a far more boring place than the Digital World."
Ry couldn't help but smile at the fox's encouragement, "Thanks!" he said, "I hope so too, and hearing it from someone who can digivolve gives me more than hope than before!"
He did certainly hope that he can attain his digimon form sooner than later, he would also have to learn how to utilise the form before he could do anything with it. If he didn't learn how to, it could certainly backfire, and he didn't want anything to backfire on him whilst he's tearing down his father's empire.
He certainly did like the jet fighter digimon's accent though, Vertigo, as he called himself. It really did make him feel as if he was James Bond in a weird, surreal way, though perhaps the fox would be more suited for the role as she was the one who got out of Vertigo's cockpit, "Well the pleasure is all mine too," he said, "And I am looking forward to see more of your kind! Humans all look a little... similar to one another, haha."
"Well, not as striking as other digimon have, you didn't attack me as soon as you met me, that's one thing," Ry smirked, indicating that he was teasing and joking more than he was being serious about his remarks, "I really do appreciate the warm welcome that you have both shown me, though, it really is a stark contrast to what I have experienced the past few days."
He listened intently to what Cion had to say regarding digivolution, "An act of willpower huh..." he thought about it for quite a bit, "Haha, perhaps my mind is the problem. I'm not quite that mature, so people would say about me."
Hm... intense emotions eh? Though Cion said that it could leave him potentially completely exhausted, it was worth a try, "For a first-timer, I might have to rely on that 'intense emotions' part, I know you don't recommend it," he thought about it for a second longer, "But it is worth a try."
"Do you think you guys could help me out with that, if you're not in any hurry to do anything or if you don't have an errand?"

"Don't be silly, darling. Getting offended by the truth is asinine. When you live for ages in a world like this, you get a thick skin and take things lightheartedly. Besides, I'm aware that it has plenty of rough edges that need a good caning to smoothen out. Been working on that quite some time I can tell you." Cion calmly and straightforwardly explained her sound point of view, chuckling briefly to emphasize that she did absolutely not take the lad's previous statements personal. This realm was in fact a dangerous one in which civilization required an eternity to develop. It made progress, but she was patient and determined to fix the unfirm status quo forever.
"Oh dear..." The Arniomon spoke under her breath, not really knowing what to say to Ry's testimony. With the crimson parasite, black corruption and criminal operations coming to the forefront, people had become agitated it seemed. If only they realized that senseless venting did not solve their problems. Fortunately, the young voiced his optimism, considering this planet worth exploring and the company and encouragement she and Vertigo provided pleasant. These sentiments eased her worries, bringing back a faint yet steady smile on her short muzzle. "Glad to hear that."
Nodding as a toothy grin manifested itself over her former simper, the silver fennec had to admit that her blond acquaintance was right. The diversity among humans was extremely limited, whereas digimons came in all conceivable shapes, colors and flavors. For example, who would think of the vulpine sentinel an apex entity? Compared to the minuscule amount of other monsters that were capable of ascending to the highest possible level, she was diminutive and adorable, not a titanic paladin. But it certainly had its benefits. "Don't worry, there are lots of look-alikes without names." The AceJetmon jokingly assured that confusion was certain to come.
Unironically happy about the certainty that she had not pushed her new friend away by assaulting him, Cion had understood that his first days had not been delightful. However, if anyone was able to make his frown turn upside down, it was her. Dwelling on the past was easy but did not accomplish anything. Facing the present and working towards the future on the other hand was difficult yet had the potential to yield glorious fruits. Upon sharing her explanation of digivolution, it became obvious that Ry shared her notion.
The restrained Arniomon did not fully agree with the chap's idea to rely on emotional strain to overcome his blockage, but neither did she want to be perceived as intrusive. As long as serious injuries were avoided, perhaps it was truly worth a try. Keeping her arms folded, the tiny fox shrugged. "We are simply enjoying out free day, so we got plenty of time and will gladly provide help. However... I'm a department head of a renowned business company and a professional mercenary, not a skilled trainer - and Vertigo is an aerial ace. How could we even assist you?" She argued kindly, genuinely curious about what the lad had in mind.

Ry couldn't help but smile a bit more when Cion told him that she wasn't quite offended by what he said about the Digital World, "But wait," he mentioned, "You've been working on smoothing out the rough edges of the Digital World? How?"
Were they some sort of heroes in disguise or something? He glanced from the silver fox to the fighter jet, then back again. Well, Vertigo was certainly hero-material considering his design and capabilities, from what Ry assumed at least, but the silver fox? He couldn't imagine what kind of stuff she could do, but at the same time, he knew by now that it was stupid to underestimate digimon from just their looks.
Yes, he knew that full-well and first-hand too. He's just been lucky enough to come out of them mostly unscathed, "Yeah, I'm glad to come out of them unhurt too," he noted when he heard the fox say that she was glad to know that he was optimistic.
"Look-alikes without names?" Ry raised an eyebrow, confused, "Do digimon here usually not have names, aside from you guys and a few others?" now that he didn't understand at all. It was if he just called himself... human. And everyone else was called human too. How would they be able to differentiate who was who then?
His eyes widened, however, when Cion admitted that she was the department head of a business company and a professional mercenary. He was glad that he had told himself not to underestimate her at all, she certainly sounded very intimidating from her resume alone. Though she did admit that she wasn't a skilled trainer, but...
"I know you may not agree, but hear me out," he pleaded, "When I was on the track team back in high school, my coach would always push me harder and harder to get better times and usually, it did work. Sometimes. When I'm not too tired."
He glanced from the fox to the fighter jet, then back again, "Maybe I need to be pushed too in a similar way, to activate my evolution. What do you think?"

Ry's unexpected question at first made Cion pause before she burst out in a fit of giggles, her voluminous, white tail waving from right to left and back and forth. Taking a few moment regain her composure, the silver fox took in a deep breath, bearing a rapt grin on her snout. "Like I said, among benefactions... a good caning when needed." She answered, giving the lad a playful wink. In truth her methods had been more sophisticated and efficient lately than merely beating up villains. If Rosewood would turn out a quarter as idyllic as anticipated, then plenty of social digimons of goodwill would emerge from a pleasant upbringing,
It was no surprise to hear that her new friend was glad to have emerged unharmed from his previous encounters. Who enjoyed receiving damage after all? Well, there were masochists, but these folks were quite a rarity. However, a far more interesting topic of discussion was mentioned by the blond boy - one the restrained Arniomon was happy to tell him about to hopefully improve his opinions of the digital realm. Nodding firmly, she claimed some seconds to properly put her thoughts and knowledge into words.
"This world changes. Insufferably slow, but it does. Civilizations spawning, advancing, spreading. Feral, mindless naturalism replaced by society and a semblance of harmony. Digimons change with that - entities barely more than bundles of instincts becoming sentient and compassionate. It's a process requiring eons, reboots even. We're still on a path that will go on for ages, but concepts such as individualism and cooperation had already taken root in some areas when I awoke for the first time on an island that no longer exists. ...Gosh... I can't even remember when I stopped counting the years." She explained with a sense of bittersweet nostalgia to her voice, yet her smile did not fade.
Glancing to the young man, Cion''s expression shifted to that of unyielding confidence. "There a many with their own name who are capable of cherishing what they have. But there are equally as many savages that plague entire landscapes. I would not even call their behavior self-seeking; it's just... I dunno, primal? In any case, I strife for progress... and now you know the story of my life." The tiny fennec finished explaining, ending her verbose speech with a lighthearted joke as to break the ice... and not to appear like she had succumbed to weltschmerz. Honestly speaking, she still was not sure if she had or not.
Hoping that sufficed for Ry to attain a bit of comprehension of the history of the planet he found himself on, she wished to change the topic at hand to something positive. Hearing out the male's ideas, it became clear as day to both the Arniomon and the AceJetmon that he longed to finally tap into his hidden potential. It was an understandable desire, but also one that easily lead decent people astray. Back when she was someone else... perish the thought if Owen and the others had not been there for her; or him rather.
"Sounds like a reasonable coach, if a bit unpretentious." The ancient sentinel commented, leaning one of her paws against her hip, curious about what drove the boy to be so fervent. "Fair enough, but how do you intend to be pushed? There are some training grounds if that is what you are looking for." The endearing yet naive machine asked while Cion dreaded the actual point Ry was likely trying to put forth. All-consuming passion... it was like beholding a mirror into one's own past.

Ry couldn't help but smirk at the fox's wink, it was good to know that there were people in the Digital World with humour after all. It was refreshing, what with everything he's handled here recently.
Ry blinked, "Years? It has been that long now, that the Digital World existed?" well of course it is, it was a stupid question. Even though Ry had only discovered the world itself nearly a week ago, the world must have existed for decades or even centuries now, considering how well evolved their civilisations are here. Terminus City was certainly on par with a few other modern cities. Perhaps not Tokyo, but definitely just as modern as some other cities in the human world.
But he nodded with what the silver fox said, "I understand what you mean, though, the human world is similar in that respect. People there continue to strive for progress and innovation, when there doesn't seem to be a need for one at all, but I digress," he said, "I also did notice that you guys are building a new town of some sort when I was wandering around here, that's very cool to see."
Savages? "What do you mean by savages?" he asked, he needed to know more about this if he were to start actually travelling the Digital World all by his lonesome, especially if he still can't activate his spirit, "Just, digimon gone wild?"
"Training grounds could work, though I don't know if I could activate my potential that way," he shrugged, "I've been training relentlessly on my own here, I've been jogging, shadow boxing, meditating, just... whatever you can think of, I've tried. It hasn't worked for me yet."
"Maybe... I need a sparring partner?" he glanced at the fox again, "Of course, by all means, if you're uncomfortable, you don't have to. But it might be nice for me to actually spar with someone for once, and you can push me as hard as you want if, though no lethal wounds, of course." he laughed, trying to pass it off as a joke but also inwardly hoping that the silver fox also doesn't kill him if they agreed to his plan.
"What do you say? I'd owe you guys one if you could help me out, please?"

Post by Cion on Jul 30, 2018 21:00:00 GMT
"As I said - eons, not just a couple of years." Cion calmly repeated herself, not surprised to find the lad astonished by what she had told him. When your life is measured in decades, concepts such as centuries, millennia and timescales beyond that were nearly impossible to grasp. Considering the rumored time dilation that existed between the artificial world and Earth, perhaps it was even less perspicuous. However, in the end it did not matter. Existence continued and so did the Arniomon's, including whatever her drives and future endeavors demanded. Thankfully, she was far from alone.
And she was glad to know that Ry had grasped the sentiments she had tried to explain to him. She was not aware of any similarities with human uprising as she had no idea of mankind's history, but she had no reason to doubt her new friend's assertion - especially upon hearing his excellent argument that people had an indirect tendency to not appreciate what they had. That was this world's naturalism in a nutshell - endless avarice and strife.
But plenty of folks sought to change that, an effort apparently noticed by her most recent acquaintance. "Oh, you visited Rosewood? Yes, it's splendid, ain't it? A place where children will receive a proper upbringing; strengthening ideas like community, affection and productive ambitions. You can bet I invested heavily into it." The silver fennec commented sunshinily, not intending to brag but merely wishing to display her elation for such progressive projects. It was a small dream come true, that was certain. And, to be fair, it benefited the reputation of PROFIT as well.
But avoiding savagery was her primary aspiration. "More like... digimons remaining wild. We're called digital monsters for a reason." Cion revised the boy's question, bittersweet aspirations returning to her voice. Someday, everyone would be people, not creatures. Ultimately, "True dat..." that was a subject for another, less unwound day. Before helping out the greater good of this realm, attending the worries of a single being seemed more feasible.
Hence the tiny fox did not show an expression of surprise as she heard the man's desire to have someone to spar with. A fighter, eh? He really was a spirit-wielder to his core. "No, I'm not uncomfortable - and of course I'd never harm you badly. It's just... I've never fought a mere human before. No offense, but from what I've seen you are a fragile species. Intelligent and crafty for sure, but not of great vigor on your own; relatively speaking." She politely expressed her concerns, having no idea to of the potential strength of a common man.
Besides, she had gotten so used to her final form that she did not want to de-digivolve for this occasion, but that would mean extreme danger for the pleasant chap.

Ry was taken aback, "Eons," he repeated to himself, that was a concept of time he couldn't quite grasp, he wasn't sure if the human world was around even eons before. The human race itself was definitely not around eons ago, at least, that was Ry thought. He shook his head, "Sorry, it's just so hard to believe when this is my first trip to the Digital World days ago and I find out it's been under my nose all this time, even before I was alive. How is it possible that not a lot of people know about this place?"
The government has definitely covered it up, he was absolutely sure about that, but he wasn't sure if he should say it out loud to the two digimon. For one, he didn't even know if they understood the kind of government that the human world held, and it wasn't relevant to their discussion anyways. He'll just discuss it later if he ever meets a prominent government official back in the human world.
"Ah, well, I didn't really visit Rosewood, more just passed by it," he admitted, scratching the back of his head, "I didn't have much I could do there and I didn't want to get in their way, though I may take up a part time job helping them out or something, it looked like they needed a few helpers."
He smiled at the silver fox's ambition though, he could tell that she was very proud of Rosewood, and it's just amazing to see someone hold so much dream and hopes and actually put in so much work into making it happen, "Yeah, it'd be great to see it happen," he said, "I'll make sure to visit it again after, see what they have or what I can do to help out."
Cion explained more regarding the primal nature of the digimon, and whilst she was right about the monster part, he could hear some sort of bittersweet tinge to her voice, "Ah, sorry, I didn't mean to bring up any painful memories for you," he scratched his cheek and fiddled with his feet, obviously awkward with any sort of negative emotions, or rather, dealing with them.
Though he did feel a slight tinge at the 'fragile' comment, he couldn't really refute it. From what he's seen of digimon in the first place, he is definitely fragile in their books, "Oh no, you don't have to attack me with your full power or your attacks or anything, uh," he thought about it for a moment, "I know digimon can throw fireballs and stuff and... I mean, you can if you want, I'll just dodge them, though, don't throw really fast fireballs either, uh,"
"Well, I guess, anything you want to do as long as you don't hit me or kill me?" he cringed, "Sorry, I'm not really sure what your power is like or how strong either of you are, I mean I know both of you are plenty strong, just..."
He sighed, this was really hard to get his thoughts out, "You know what, why don't we just start... something, and see how that goes for a bit?"

"I don't know. I'm not familiar with Earth and its idiosyncrasies." Cion admitted carefreely, not minding that particular hole in her ken. Of course she was inquisitive to have a peak at the world of mankind, but in truth one realm of existence to worry about was already an incredible hassle. Learning of the people from another dimension and their types of misery would only depress her, making her feel as if her efforts were in vain and would never end. No... it was better if humans came to their planet to solve problems, though not every man was someone of goodwill. ...Denryu...
In any case, the Arniomon was simply delighted to hear that Ry was looking forward to help out Rosewood by pursuing a part-time career there. This information put a genuine, toothy, rapt smile her cute muzzle. "Awesome! An additional cook or buddy to play with is always needed. Oh, and you could even teach the kids of whence you originated and your race! That should undo some lingering notions of xenophobia." She voiced her excitement, confident that was a wonderful cause for the lad to pursue. She would definitely support that if he required assistance.
Enchanted that they shared similar ideas of benevolence, previous dark thoughts vanished from her immediate awareness. "It's okay. Rejecting how things are won't lead to them improving. Acceptance enables intervention, not denegation." Cion calmly stated her point of view, hoping it made sense to the adolescent boy. They had agreed on many topics thus far, but she understood that her concerns and ways of thinking were complicated and at times bizarre. However... not as a strange as the shyness the otherwise unwound chap displayed. "Never be reluctant to voice what you sincerely mean. It's not your fault if some can't handle it." She kindly advised him to be honest with himself and others. Insincerity, despite its intent, led to nothing but more insincerity.
This planet was without doubt dangerous, but this was merely another lesson it had to internalize to ascend. Yet today was the day not for it to be taught something, but Ry's. So, she was not truly supposed to actually attack him during their spar, but just push him to his limits and beyond? She did not quite have an idea on how to approach that task, hence she continued to listen to him for the time being. Ultimately, she grasped that it was meant to be a strenuous test for him.
Folding her arms, Cion took a few moments to contemplate his request before formulating her serene response. "Naturally I won't aim to injure you or worse. As for power levels, I am currently restrained but otherwise of the very rare, highest possible tier..." "...and I am a proud member of the second highest tier - Mega..." "...which why you and I will do this with absolute caution." She explained, nodding to his suggestion that perhaps starting was the best course of action to take.
Walking a noticeable amount of steps away from her temporary opponent, the silver fennec turned to him and assumed a relaxed stance. "Okay, try everything in your power to hit me just once. I will probably not move a single step, but I will certainly not assault you. Act when you feel ready." She instructed her sparring partner, her tone serious as to not give him the impression that she was joking around.
Oh what an unfittingly pleasant weather to have a small fight.

Ry shrugged, it was only fair that the silver fox didn't know much about the human world, it was a boring place anyways. Plus, they had their hands full with the Digital World, from the looks of it. He couldn't fault her either, he knew next to nothing about the Digital World himself, so it was only fair.
He blinked a little, though, at the sudden show of enthusiasm from the fox. He was happy knowing that she had so much passion for her project, but her vision for him though... "I'm not... a great teacher," he scratched the back of his head, "Well, I never tried, but I also don't know how well I'd be able to teach. Most people would say I wouldn't be able to teach well, I don't think I would be more mature than most of the kids I'd be teaching anyways..."
Ry nodded, however, "I do agree with you on that, though. If we don't strive to better ourselves, how are we going to get anywhere, right?" that point brought a fleeting thought about his father, who instead was ruthlessly pursuing improvement yet destroyed everything else that he touched, like his own family. But Ry shook his head, no, this was not the time to be thinking of such things.
"Honestly, I wish I could voice what I think, but it's not that I don't want to. Sometimes I can't." he said, like how his father tried to repress him from speaking out about what he knew. But his father was right: no one would believe him even if he was honest. He gulped down, leaving that thought behind.
Of course they were mercenaries of the highest tier, Ry shouldn't be too surprised at that. But when the fox instructed him to hit her, he was a little hesitant. How could he adequately attack such a small fox?
But that was already his first mistake, to judge someone's power through their appearances. If he kept holding on to that mindset, he wouldn't be able to grasp the power he held, he wouldn't be able to mature enough for it.
So he took a few steps forward to the fox, took a few deep breaths, gave a cry and then punched forward towards the fox as hard as he could, pushing as much energy as he can into the punch. He threw the hardest punch that he possibly could, and hoped that it was enough.
