"Kan? Are they a spirit user like myself too?" Ry thought about it for a moment, multiple and various forms would definitely be useful. He glanced down at his own form, one that he hoped would be more versatile and, well, much less clunkier than his current form, "Are their forms more powerful than mine? As powerful as you?"
The silver foxed smiled at him, "Staying here? Well... I'm currently living in an inn, down there in Terminus City, the inn's run by a Gatomon, but I can't remember the name," he shrugged, "She's been letting me stay there for free for quite a bit, but I think she'll ask me to help out at the inn in return soon."
"How come?" he asked, "Did you have something else in mind?"

Looking down at the Guilmon from atop of Vertigo's massive wing, Cion chuckled, wondering if Ry was a bit slow at times. However, there was no reason to antagonize him after their splendid moments together, hence it was with kindness and courtesy that she answered all questions her new acquaintance posed. "He is - has been for quite some time. And yes, exponentially more powerful than yours." "And though I have not seen any spirit as mighty as the dear lady over here, Kan definitely is on a par with me." Vertigo joyfully charmed in, trying to give the lad a clear impetus to push himself beyond his current limits.
Nodding affirmatively, the silver fennec listened to what the hybrid beneath her had to say as a response to her previous question. He lived in one of the many inns of Terminus - for free even? Of course it made sense that the innkeeper, a Gatomon, would eventually request him to help her out as to make up for the costs, but the sincere simper on her muzzle in appreciation of her generosity and benevolence was unadulterated regardless. ... There were good people out there, although it was sometimes hard to find them.
"Actually... yes." She responded firmly before turning around. With her mechanical partner's cockpit still open, she leaned over its edge and rummaged through the small cases. A few seconds went by until the professional mercenary straightened up again, in her paws a pell and a ballpoint. After briefly writing additional notes on it, a faint, iridescent aura engulfed them as they levitated into Ry's hands. Cion cleared her throat, giving him sufficient time to peruse the opportunity she offered to him.
It was an internship contract at PROFIT within her 'commission' department - lasting for 1 month with the possibility to extend the length to 4. For the duration, he'd be allowed to utilize their base's - Kongou Island - highly luxurious lodging at his will free of cost; including housing and meals. He'd receive a proper certificate of employment afterwards. The typical conditions were accentuated as well, such as adequate conduct, partially sporadic working hours, noteworthy payment for his contributions and recognizing and adhering to the authority of his temporary superiors. Additionally, in her handwriting, any reasonable compensation his previous 'landlord' demanded would fall under their responsibility.
The tiny fox had already signed it, so it was merely upon the young man to determine the path he desired. "You may accept or decline now, or I grant you a period of a week to assess your decision. Your call." She stated rather matter-of-factly, her contained idiosyncrasies as a prudent businessmon seeping through her exterior goodwill. Still, she carried herself with cordiality, not wishing any detriments upon her former pupil. No - this act was meant to... benefit everyone in the long run.

Whilst he knew that he wasn't the only spirit user around, and not the most powerful one by a long shot, it was still surreal to know that there were others like him. Others that could also transform into powerful beasts, and perhaps so powerful that they could overtake anyone that wanted to. It was a dizzying prospect, one that he knew that he couldn't truly believe until he, perhaps, met that one person who was really powerful.
He raised an imaginary eyebrow (for his current form didn't have eyebrows) when the silver fox admitted that she did have plans for the young man, or well, currently young Guilmon. She rummaged within the cockpit of Vertigomon, and then appeared again with... paper? Which then levitated to Ry's hands, or well, claws.
Ry frowned, his claws clumsy with handling paper. It took him a while to figure out, but he was finally able to flip the pages with a delicate touch of his claws. He read over it quite a few times, a crease forming on his reptilian forehead. It was an internship opportunity, at the mercenary organisation that she was based in, apparently. For a month, or more if he wanted to, he'd get paid, and every debt he owed the Gatomon would be paid too.
But did he really want to join a mercenary organisation on his first two weeks in the Digital World, or even in the first few days that he could take form in his digital spirit? He didn't even know what this organisation was, and even though Cion was really nice, far nicer than anyone he'd met so far in this Digital World, he wasn't entirely sure if he wanted to be a mercenary either.
Oh, he could take his time in choosing? "Well, uh, thanks, I think I might take that week to... assess my decision," he said, "Just as long as no one's killed me yet by then, I guess."
He looked over the forms that he held in his claws again, "But thank you for this offer," he said, waving at the both of them, "I do really appreciate this, that you'd take me in and all."
"Wait, but how can I contact you next time about the offer?"

Naturally, as Ry took several careful looks at the internship contract Cion gladly offered to him, she carefully observed his gesture and facial expression to get a better picture of the lad. For someone who was so eager to throw away his own mental and physical well-being for the pursuit of power, he paradoxically hesitated to accept this unparalleled offer. A way to live free of monetary worries - if perhaps only for a while - , surrounded by sumptuous luxury, and missions in which he could learn more of the digital world and steadily unleash his potential as a spirit-wielder. Why then... did he frown slightly?
At least the young man did not reject her proposal outright. Businesslike as she was capable of carrying herself, though great disappointment harrowed her on the inside, she nodded firmly and calmly in acceptance of her former pupil's decision to claim the provided time to assess his choice. "Very well." The restrained Arniomon answered, holding her hands behind her hip as a brief chuckle escaped her lips upon hearing his quip. "Certainly wouldn't want that." She commented, giving the red reptile a kittenish wink.
Appreciating Ry's - what Cion perceived as contained gratitude - the silver fennec gladly answering his lingering question. "If you have a phone, the form contains official numbers. If not, then first buy one and second acquire access to the Internet and contact us via our website in whatever way you prefer. A cybercafé should suffice if you are short of loose money." The professional mercenary explained unwoundedly, hoping that helped the little rascal in determining his future path. "Oh, and of course, if you have questions, simply ask away."

Ry grinned as the silver fox took in the quip, and then blinked. And then all of the sudden, when he opened his eyes again, he saw that he was a little bit further away from the grass. Just a little bit taller than the silver fox, just a little bit under his line of sight than before he closed his eyes. He blinked again, "Huh?"
And then glancing down, looking at his hands, he saw why. They were hands, they weren't claws anymore. The silver fox and the fighter jet would have seen the same thing, the Guilmon form instantly disappeared back into the form of a human boy in a blink of an eye. They wouldn't even have had time to react: it was just that instantaneous of a transformation, nothing had even warned any of them of the transformation, it just happened.
"That's... surprising," which was definitely an understatement, as Ry examined his hands again, first his right then his left, at least one hand still holding the forms.
Well, at least he had his human form again. This way, he had his backpack once more. He slung his bag down and zipped it open, placing the forms in his bag, "Oh wait, I have a phone right now so I could take in your number," then he fished it out, and pushed the 'on' button, which ironically, did not turn it on, "Oh right! I remember, the Gatomon told me that human technology and devices don't work here, uh..."
He turned to the silver fox, "Is there a digimon alternative to a phone that I can get somewhere?"

"Oh...?" "Huh..." Both Vertigo and Cion let out quietly, openly surprised by the sudden and immediate reversal of Ry's metamorphosis. How long had his transformation lasted now - a minute, two tops? Scratching her chin, the silver fennec wondered if this was a fate that befell all spirit-wielders. She had never encountered someone as inexperienced as the blond boy before, thus she honestly did not know what was the case. Even Toki was apt in the arts of maintaining his form, and if anyone was starry-eyes then him. "Indeed." She whispered, wondering if this could be utilized against malevolent wielders.
Watching as the young man reclaimed his backpack, pulling out his phone as to save her number, the restrained Arniomon was left dumbfounded due to the statement he unwoundedly uttered. "Really? That's a first..." She commented, shrugging with wide eyes as she tried to remember if this was actually true. Thinking about Colin, her colleagues and other humans, they have plenty of modern gizmos and gadgets. Were they acquired in the digital planet because their original devices only work on Earth. Stranger things have happened, but it was an odd notion regardless.
"Well... there are phones... made... like... here." The professional mercenary stated in confusion. Taking in a deep breath, she carefully rummaged through her short, green scarf to untie her Infini-Store from it. In her paw, a simple thought sufficed to activate it, creating a diminutive wormhole that spat out what appeared to a state-of-the-art smartphone in black that bore no brand. "See?" She asked rhetorically, turning it on the reveal a display that uncannily resembled technology of the material world.

Looking at Cion's confused expression, Ry's frown deepened, "None of the tech that I brought over here have worked so far, even though they have been fully charged. Maybe something's changed?" Ry rummaged through his bags again, trying his phone once more, and finding it dead. He found his digivice and what looked like a personal assistant device, something someone he bumped into called a D-Terminal, and he found it sitting in his bag a day later, "Oh yeah, there is this."
Upon opening it up, he found that it did, in fact, work, and was able to put in the contact numbers of several people, emails, and was even able to connect to the internet, "Huh, didn't know this worked," he clicked around on it, and then inputted the number that was on the form that Cion gave him, "Guess I can contact you on this now, I think? Well, we'll try later anyways."
His eyes bulged out, though, when he saw what looked like a small wormhole form, summoned by Cion, and summoned a smartphone from within it, "What, how?" he asked himself, then in a louder voice, he said, "Where did you get that from?"
That definitely looked useful, and it wouldn't hurt if he could get something like that within, say, Terminus City.
Then he remembered the forms in his hand, and shuffled around awkwardly, kind of nervous that he had to kind of decline Cion's offer, or at least make her wait for a little bit longer, "Well, again, thank you for inviting me into your organisation, and sorry that I can't give you an immediate response."
"Though to be honest... I'm a little... hesitant... in joining a mercenary organisation."

Unfortunately, as someone who did not have much experience in interdimensional laws, she could give Ry no clear response as what the reasons were why technology of his world malfunctioned in the digital one. However, that was what the digivice and its subtypes were meant to counter, weren't they? Though never having used it herself, she had seen throughout her hours of shopping that upgrades were purchasable to improve them permanently. Perhaps a way to connect to the Internet and its uncountable networks was such an upgrade?
Or not, as the lad's D-Terminal already provided all these features. That was that with acquiring a state-of-the-art phone, which naturally implied less money he did not have spent. In any case, now that they had a method to communicate with each other, she did not have to be concerned about losing contact with the rascal. As for questions posed - calm answers follows. "An Infini-Store - only a few thousand bits. Available at every mall and local stores specialized on electronics. A 10 out of 10 steal in my books - recommend fully." She explained, chuckling in between due to her new acquaintance's amazement. He truly was a galoot in this realm of existence, eh?
Clearly showing no interest in her presenting her smartphone, the restrained Arniomon merely shrugged and undid her previous actions in a matter of seconds. With that topic out of the way, their attention returned to the forms and offer she had proposed to the inexperienced spirit-wielder. Although she was disappointed due to the boy's lack of immediate approval, she understood that not everyone was as positively excitable as some of her dearly treasured friends and companions. "Again, my pleasure. And don't worry, take your time."
In contrast to her former, unwounded words, a genuine, hearty giggle escaped her lips as Ry voiced his uncertainty and the reasons for it. "Well then it's good you wouldn't if you were to accept the internship contract. PROFIT is an enterprise with subdivisions. The officer I am of happens to be 'hired work', but others include stuff like running an inn or trade." Cion gladly clarified, hoping that took away some of her potential pupil's worries.

Ry was a little bit dumbfounded, as the silver fox explained that the dimensional wormhole was available for sale, for only a few thousand of the Digital World currency too, as he heard it. He shook his head in amazement, "Never thought I'd see the day where you can buy a wormhole for such a low price now."
He blinked a few times as Cion explained that he could take her time, and then he frowned a little bit when she giggled at what he said. And then she explained further on what the internship meant for him, and he frowned.
Truth be told, an inn or a trade would be far more peaceful than a mercenary, but also... it reeks a lot like his old pizza delivery job (if he still had that and wasn't fired since he had been gone now from his job for a week now, with no notice either). His old job he had taken because he had to, he had to pay the bills, he had to keep up a semblance of responsibility.
But he didn't have to right now, did he? Well, he had to pay the Gatomon back at some point, but that would probably be only a week's worth of work, less even if he decides not to stay at the inn and just sleep... well, maybe even on this hill. Not as bad, but he wouldn't mind sleeping under the stars.
He had to keep up an appearance, something regular to ensure that he didn't have to be hounded by loan sharks. But he didn't have to here, not yet anyways.
"Those sound great, but," Ry hesitated a moment, unsure how to put this into words, "Well, I have only been around the Digital World for a week or two, only figured out how to evolve into my digimon form, I think it's too much of a big step for me to accept an internship for a month or more right now."
"I do highly appreciate your offer, but I think that right now, I'm more suited to just... explore, I guess. Explore the world, explore my power."

Cion could not help herself but chuckle at Ry's amusing comment. It appeared that Earth was far more primitive in technology than the digital realm, though then again only the former had to abide by common physical laws. However, her rapt smile quickly faded upon beholding the frowns that the lad displayed. Was her offer truly that dubious to him? Might be the naivity of what was essentially a youngling - false impressions or jaundice perhaps.
"I'm sure it'd further your ambitions, but if that is your concern then contemplate my proposition." Was the restrained Arniomon's calm response. Listening to the boy's statements, it was for once her who shook her head gently, almost delighted by the spirit-wielder's ingenuousness. Unwilling to do work and training under her helpful wing, earn plenty of money and savor a taster of a life of luxury... yet wandering the globe by himself after the hazards he had experienced and will encounter was perfectly reasonable and agreeable? Oh dear... maybe she had misjudged him.
Sighing quietly, the silver fennec gave her large, mechanical partner a brief glance before nodding firmly, her eyes shifting back to the adult human. "Can't force you, but don't forget to think about it seriously." The vulpine officer requested as Vertigo's engines began flaring up and its vitreous opened up. "If there is nothing left to say today, then... it was a pleasure meeting you." She declared sincerely, bowing to him as it was the traditional way of respect and honor.

Ry was silent for a little bit, thinking about what he held in his hands. It was surely not to be taken lightly, a contract that would bind him for a month, perhaps more if he did well, and with his consent, of course. But it was a contract nonetheless, it was something that would bind him, perhaps not physically, but still.
But the silver fox was right about it furthering his ambitions, in a way, if he thought of it that way. Ry thought, well, she was the single most powerful being that he had meet so far. And perhaps, that would truly be the work of working in a mercenary organisation. Though it wasn't the division he would most likely be put in, but it might help, right?
He didn't know, just confused overall. Either way, he would be a target to whatever enemies that the organisation had. Maybe it was something he can risk now, maybe he can't. But for sure, this isn't something that he can say on the spot.
"Thank you again, really," he glanced back up to the silver fox, "I'll make sure to think on this seriously when I have the time."
Ry gave her a thin smile at her disappointment, he couldn't really say that he was definitely going to accept the offer, and he didn't want to lie either. He felt guilty disappointing his new friend, but at the same time, he wasn't sure he was ready to handle all the repercussions either.
Then he noted that the jet began to power up again, and the silver fox bowed, "Oh! Uh, yeah, I'm sorry again for taking up so much of your time, both of you," he said, glancing to the jet then back to the silver fox, "I really have learnt a lot today, I don't think it would have been achievable without your help. Or it would at least take a really long time."
He fumbled for a bit when he saw the silver fox bow, then bowed back with equal sincerity at both of the digimon, truly grateful and appreciative of their helps. Then he grinned and saluted them both, before walking away from the hill and back to the inn he resided in Terminus City, "I'll see you when I see you next time!"
