"To be fair, we don't remember either" Luke said to Dio, chuckling a little awkwardly. "Not that we remember that much past our previous life".
Colin knew little of the particulars of digimon immortality. Still though, that this Impmon couldn't come back like normal digimon, he felt rather sympathetic. "Alright. I hope that we can help you either way" he answered the spirit.
Then Bellamy noticed the expression on Dio's face and looked rather worried. Carlos was the first to intervene though and he watched what would happen. Dio snapped at Carlos, which startled Bellamy a little, but, understood that there were some moments when you just shouldn't push a digimon. Especially one he liked, so, even though he was curious about what set Dio off, he wouldn't inquire further. Perhaps this was something they should talk about over drinks later?
"Yeah, let's do that" Bellamy said, then when they were on the way, he made sure to pat Dio's back in a caring gesture, as though to say 'I don't know what's happening, but, if you need help I'm here'.
Mae seemed to feel a little ashamed by the revelation, but Colin reassured her. "Don't worry, Mae, you've been nice to us so far, so, we see no reason not to trust you" he said. Colin hadn't experienced anything negative a Meicoomon had done after all.
Then, they saw it. The figure. It seemed... this was the Slayer. At once, Bellamy and Luke stepped forward, and at once, Colin drew a card. He noticed at once that this wasn't the blue card, but an Armor digivolution one. He reconsidered his intentions.
"Digimodify! Twin Armor Ultimate Evolution activate!"
The card was drawn through the D-Arc, and both digimon glowed with energy. And his D-Terminal burst with a red and purple glow that washed over his partners.
"Impmon armor digivolve to... Satellamon!"
"Elecmon armor digivolve to... RedWeregarurumon!"
At once, the twins were there in their Armor Ultimate levels, ready for trouble.
"Who are you and what do you want?" Bellamy asked, the Satellamon raising the brim of his 10-gallon hat, his green eyes narrowed with suspicion. His solar panel wings unfurled, he hovered in the air. The much more bulky Luke stood front and center meanwhile, fists raised in battle position.

Dio indeed wasn't feeling fine about any of this. In fact, Mae was right to think he was feeling about as awful as she was right now, and he would have gladly let her know that too...if it weren't for Bellamy simply patting him in the back.
He didn't say a word, but merely nodded in acknowledgment, giving the smallest hint of a smile back at Bellamy. A simple gesture, but between the two it's meaning was more than obvious. He was inmensely grateful about his friend being as supportive as he was being, and this wasn't the time to let his fear take control again. He still had to look respectable as the Dark Lord after all! He didn't have much time to dwell on that however, as soon an ominous threat would make itself known. From the very first second their eyes came across the odd looking Yaksamon did both human and digimon just knew there was something wrong with it.
Then again, Mae's reaction and the fact it had a deformed eye with a freaking eye stalk coming out of it was a pretty obvious giveaway.
"I'm assuming this is the so called Slayer." Carlos commented, taking a cautious step back, already knowing they were in for a rough time. Seeing the twins getting ready for combat was his cue to get into action as well. With a sigh he'd pull out his digivice too, commenting with a weary if sarcastic tone, "Two against one...doesn't seem one sided enough."
The device glew with energy and power, and so did Dio. The gentle light of digivolution wrapped around the imp, his form growing taller and thiner, an air of sheer anger flowing from the shining digital body as it finished forming. With a final red flash the light ceased, revealing Dio's towering NeoDevimon form, standing slightly hunched over as if holding back the urge to literally charge head first into battle.
Other than some heavy, distorted breathing the tall demon remained silent, staring at the malformed digimon in front of them, his many eyes glowing dangerously. The only few words that came from him were not even adressed to the being known as "Kappy" however, but at the panicking keramon.
"Stay back, cat." He ordered, glancing back at Mae for a moment, his words sounding both firm and imperative...but at the same time carrying an air of protectiveness to them. As if no matter how he felt towards the Keramon and her whole species, deep down he couldn't simply stay back and let that thing have its way with her.

The eye made a rather nasty gurgling noise as it peered around. Likely something that was definitely not meant to be part of...the Yaksamon. Nobody needed to tell Mae to hide twice. She was already scurrying for cover.
The Yaksamon glared down at the three. Three on one, and all half a level or a full level above him. Well, these odds were quite unfair indeed.
For them. For though it was capable of coherent speech, 'Kappy' only let out a hiss as he leapt from his branch and for the biggest threat in the proverbial room.
The NeoDevimon. Something about the vampire -ticked him off- almost as much as the Keramon. So much so that he decided to target him first! The puppet man leapt in a manner that indicated that he was ready to slam his bokken into the vampire if uninterrupted! After all, you can't really dodge in mid-air.
It also obviously DIDN'T ANSWER A SINGLE THING, TOO. That's gotta be vexing!
Punished Yaksamon opens up with Deathbound!

Bellamy was glad that Dio seemed to appreciate his gesture. Sometimes, the best things to do were the subtle ones, simply let someone know that they were cared about. Hell, Bellamy had been through that a lot too, he had only learned about such things by having Luke as a brother. Feeling a paw on his own back when he was feeling emotional often snapped him back into perspective. So it seemed Dio just needed something like that for now.
Then they confronted the Slayer. After Bellamy and Luke armor digivolved to their new forms, Dio matched them by evolving to NeoDevimon, proving this a somewhat one-sided contest by them facing a champion level three-to-one. But they would not lower their guard. To Luke at least, there was a familiarity about this being. Like they had met long ago. But, of course, his memory from that far back was fragmented at the very best. The RedWeregarurumon then suddenly felt a sharp pain in his head as a glimpse of memory spilled forth in his head. A Kotemon... in the snow.
"You alright there, Luke?" Bellamy asked his brother.
"Y-yeah... just... ghost stuff" Luke answered, using that as an excuse for his temporary loss of composure. Bellamy didn't pay much attention further now that he knew his brother was okay, that eye... it was so disturbing. Then, all of a sudden, he lunged at Dio, not saying a word. The twins then had to launch into action.
"Cosmic Raider!" Bellamy shouted, aiming his guns, then fired twin homing lasers at Yaksamon's back.
"Kaiser Nail!" Luke roared, his claws glowing with blue lightning, then he aimed a slash at Yaksamon as he advanced, aiming low at his gut so he wouldn't be able to duck to evade.
Meanwhile, Colin held back, readying his cards. If his partners needed help, he'd give it to them. But, still, he turned to Mae and Specter.
"What do you recommend we do here?" he asked them, hoping for advice against this opponent.
Bellamy uses Cosmic Raider on Yaksamon.
Cosmic Raider: Bellamy raises his guns and fires one or two homing lasers at the opponent. These can track toward the target, but don't necessarily auto-hit. Can aim both at one target, or one each at up to two targets. [Cooldown: 1 turn]
Luke uses Kaiser Nail on Yaksamon.
Kaiser Nail: Aims to rake his sharp claws at an enemy.

Despite the obvious knowledge that this so called Slayer was after Mae, it would appear as for some reason Luke had been rather affected by his arrival. Why that was, Dio could only try to guess. The real question on Dio's mind however was why was the Slayer going for him first? To both Dio and Carlos it was a mistery, something that probably only the Yaksamon knew for certain.
As his two allies moved into battle, Dio of course took the most logical route faced with this sudden turn of events: he also charged at the Yaksamon, aiming to slash at his odd arm. He did let out a pained grunt as the wooden sword hit against him, but it didn't stop his claws from glowing with poisonous energy as they slashed in a forward motion, trying to cut into the Slayer's arm.
As the fight began Carlos cursed under his breath, wondering why was it that his outings with Dio so often ended in a fight of sorts. It was rather ridiculous at this point just how often it happened. Considering Colin's seemingly collected attitude to this, it was probably a common thing for everyone eñse in the digital world.
"Any way we can help in here or...?" Carlos added, looking back at the spirit. Clearly, he mostly meant it if there was a way for him to help their partners that didn't involve cards, since Colin was really the only one there able to use those.
Dio is hit by Deathbound, and retaliates with Viral Infection
Viral Infection: Punctures the enemy with his claws, injecting them with poison, causing great pain and mild damage over time. Poison lasts for a turn, and if the target is hit again by an attack before it wears off it takes 50% additional damage. Three posts cooldown.

Viral Infection: (0/3)

This feeling, this FAMILIAR FEELING nagged at the Yaksamon as it engaged the NeoDevimon. It remembered a tree, it remembered friends...Yet it all felt so hazy. Everything felt hazy. The slayer let out a hiss as Dio moved to slash into him, only to be...Triple teamed! Dio's claws sunk into his arm, something that elicited something more of a YELL of pain from the Slayer, as Luke came up.
Everything felt more clear now...Slightly. Pain. Pain. Pain was all that the Yaksamon felt. "...Eu...clid..." He uttered, seemingly in recognition towards Luke as Kaiser Nail...also left it's mark, raking data clean off of his body as the Demon Man aimed to shove the two opponents in front of him away in order to get some distance and make this less...ergh.
Of course, his attempt to gain distance?
Quite rudely interrupted by Bellamy's Cosmic Raider, one of the lasers clipping through Yaksamon's back. "I...pity you. But I don't...pity you that much. But...You're...going to regret that." The strange arm looked even more discolored thanks to the venom in his arm. Yet, it...pulsated. Like it was going to do something. The slayer tightened his grip on his bokken before he made his move, stepping to the side (mostly to keep NeoDevimon and that...Red WereGarurumon in sight) and swinging his weapon for Satellamon. "RAZOR CUTTER." Yet, it was a bokken. A blunt instrument. HOW WOULD THAT CUT ANYTHING?
To say this pain was making him lose sight of things would be false, as it was quite the opposite. The Slayer...well, he was operating off of this pain. For it kept the goals clear. Rout these three (even if he...felt one was familiar. More than the NeoDevimon) and TAKE OUT THE TRASH.
Back with Carlos, Mae, and Specter...
The spectral imp shrugged. "Get rid of that arm, mostly. It's...a product of an entirely malicious entity and only serves to make things worse. If you can provide medical attention...I suggest doing it if he ends up losing sight of your partners." "...M-Mister Specter, what about me? I know that guy's...not that good with fire, but..." Mae inquired, the Keramon seeming to have sunken to ground level. "Stay calm. Think you've been through worse, jellyfish."
Punished Yaksamon is poisoned as though he had agreed to dine with Hernan Cortes. Luke and Bellamy's attacks hit, with the twins doing -double damage- thanks to the venom. He attacks Bellamy with Razor Cutter, next.

Luke gasped and widened his eyes at the mention of the name. "Euclid". That was something he had not heard in a long time. No, it wasn't the Greek philosopher of Euclidean geometry, but, a digimon, one he had been long ago.
At once, he spoke to his brother. "Bellamy! Don't aim to kill him!" he shouted at once. "He... might be a good digimon... taken over by something".
It was just as well that Luke had said that, because when the Yaksamon retaliated against Bellamy by attacking him with a 'wooden' "razor cutter", Bellamy halted his counterattack and instead aimed for defense.
"Dammit, fine! Firestorm Defense!" Bellamy shouted, and surrounded himself with a transparent blue deflector shield. The Slayer's attack, not being stronger than Ultimate, would not be able to pierce through. But at the price, Bellamy did not make any further attacks for now.
Specter's advice would be to take out his arm. That made Colin decide on a more decisive mode of attack from here.
"Yeah, both Luke and Bellamy can heal" he said, then turned to his partner that was not yet under attack. "Luke! Aim for his hand!"
Luke nodded, then aimed to simply disable rather than destroy. He launched himself forward with an electrified kick. "Volt Kicker!" he cried, and aimed at the Yaksamon's obviously cursed hand. If it hit, it would immobilise him, hopefully making the end result being his neutralization rather than death. And if Luke was honest, with his old memories, he didn't want that.
Bellamy uses Firestorm Defense to block damage from the Slayer. He thus receives no damage from Razor Cutter.
Firestorm Defense: Bellamy can activate a deflector shield of energy that can absorb 1 ultimate level attack. Lasts for 1 turn. [Cooldown: 2 turns]
Luke uses Volt Kicker on the Slayer to aim to immobilize him.
Volt Kicker: Launches a kicking attack with his foot electrified. If it strikes, it immobilizes the opponent for 1 turn. [Cooldown: 3 turns]

The spectral imp's advice was relatively simple, all things considered: Get rid of that weird arm, and heal. While Carlos knew all too well how Dio was very much unable to heal in any capacity, he made up for that in firepower and close range strenght. As such, since the twins were apparently capable of treating possible wounds, Dio was free to simply focus entirely on taking care of their foe, injuries be damned.
Was it the most efficient way of fighting? Possibly not, but it was the one Dio was the most adept as: throwing yourself at stuff and hope your attacks land first. The most the man could do was use their knowledge of the enemy to try and direct his partner to the preffered target.
"You heard them Dio, don't aim to kill, get rid of that arm!"
While the "don't aim to kill" part was certainly a bit annoying to the demon, he would still nod and comply obviously, but not without a slightly disgruntled sigh as he did so. After all, that was what he had been doing from the beggining. Was his human even paying attention to the fight?
Hearing the digimon speak again made it clear he had some semblance of familiarity with someone other than the Keramon. Tellingly, it was probably with Luke, judging by his reactions. That said, wheter the red digimon knew this Yaksamon from somewhere else or not, the Slayer was still a threat. Dio was going to try his best not to go for the kill, but if he proved to be too much of a threat (especially for any of the humans) he wouldn't even think twice before tearing the digicore out of the Slayer's body.
Though to see him aim to hurt Bellamy was...particularly aggravating to him, to say the least. With a downright furious snarl he lunged once again, though his ensuing statement somehow managed to barely hide the anger in his voice. "Stay away from him."
Luckily the Satellamon seemed to have blocked the attack without much issue. Good, Dio wouldn't have to go all out against the Slayer in retaliation just yet.
For now though? He'd be content with aiming to get rid of that diseased arm, the best way he knew. Gathering power inside him, his many eyes began glowing with an intense reddish light, before shooting forward into a beam of pure, burning energy, aimed directly at the Yaksamon's odd looking arm, hoping to damage it severely, if not outright cut it off from the body.
Dio aims a Red Ray at the Slayer's arm, trying to either damage it or cut it off outright.
Red Ray: Fires a long ranged (100ft) red energy beam from his visor. This attack is not particularly powerful damage wise, but can easily pierce through armor of its same level and below. Three posts cooldown.

Who WERE THESE MEN? These FIGHTERS? It was like there were two things SCREECHING and vying for control over this entity. The Yaksamon was reeling a little after his attack did not quite go through. His not...screwed up hand clutched at his face before Eucli-...No, he wasn't that.
Not anymore. The Digimon the Slayer swore he used to know slammed right into him and kept him rooted. The Ray of the NeoDevimon, consequently, was able to meet it's mark. And...Surprisingly? The arm SWELLED. It swelled and grew TALONS at the end before it fell off and...turned to dust, the Slayer letting out a mechanical roar that was more akin to a dying wolf than anything.
The Yaksamon was now down an arm. And he just...doubled over, his form fizzling before revealing an equally monoplegic...Kotemon. Heaving, and disoriented.
Mae and Specter both stared. They looked at the humans, then to the Kotemon. "...What's that one?" Mae found herself asking, to which the ghost stated... "...A digimon like anyone else. The monsters here are often just like us." The ghostly imp explained. "...So. What now?" The imp asked the humans.
In truth, they were in control of the situation here from now until their exit from this forest. The fate of that Kotemon rested on them.

Bellamy was quite touched by Dio's reaction to him getting attacked. He took note to offer him another drink sometime, but for now, his attention was fixed on the battle. His deflector shield glowed once the attack struck, then it faded, needing to recharge.
Colin and his partners watched the effect of their strategy play out. Luke had immobilized the Yaksamon, while Dio seemed to finish the job by striking at his arm according to Spectre's advice. They watched on in shock as the digimon's arm seemed to swell and grow talons, then dissolved before their eyes. With one arm gone, the Yaksamon doubled over, then de-digivolved, turning into a Kotemon.
Luke then blinked as the familiarity with this digimon was now stronger. He vaguely remembered an island... and there was a Kotemon there that he remembered. Memories back that far were very faint. Luke only remembered a few things from back then. Lantis was one of them. He remembered a few others from them that were just shadows at this point. He had recognized Hikaru and Yuuki when he had met them, Owen, Brad, Mana, Ryouta, Ryu, Koharu, Kon-chan, Warg, and...
"...K-Kappy?" he asked, knuckling his forehead, trying to get a hold of the memory. That name seemed familiar, but, so much time had passed. This could be any Kotemon, but... was he the one from his memory, faint as it was?
"You know this guy, Luke?" Bellamy asked his brother, curiously.
"I... think I might" Luke admitted, the RedWeregarurumon walking forward, then knelt beside the lizard swordsman. "Well, he's just a Rookie now, and he seems hurt, so, I'll heal him now" he said, then focused carefully, bringing out his innate healing abilities.
"Luna Life" he said gently, and cast a strong aura of healing over the Kotemon, that would hopefully allow him to be brought back to a condition where he could speak.

A lot of things happened in the span of a few seconds, the most notable one was the deformed arm from the Yaksamon reacted rather violently to all the damage sustained, and soon found itself separated from the digimon's body entirely, before thankfully dissapearing into dust, the Slayer now going back to his (normal?) rookie form.
While this was all rather startling to Carlos, the ghostly imp raised a good question. What to do now? Well, if the arm had somehow been the one controlling him (which seemed to be the case judging by how passive the Yaksamon-turned-Kotemon was acting now), then now they didn't have any reason to fear him, right? As much as he would have wanted to err on the side of caution Colin's red partner had a different idea, and was already healing the hurt rookie. That pretty much settled it, didn't it?
"Well, he can't really harm anyone anymore with the arm out of the picture, right? And none of us got seriously hurt so...I say he's fine." He asked, before turning to Colin, looking for a second opinion. "Right?"
Regardless of the human's choice, for Dio it was clear the Kotemon wasn't any threat to them anymore, so the half machine demon just sorta...sat on the ground close by, staring at the rookie as Luke tended to his wounds.
"Any clue what was that whole arm business about, by the way? It didn't look natural." With that question of course Carlos pretended to get some sort of explanation from the Spectre. What that arm was, where it came from and similar questions surrounded the malicious appendage, and now seemed like the best moment to ask. At the very least, it didn't seem like it was at all connected to the D-Reaper, so that was already a huge plus.
"You...really were afraid of this?" Dio shot a confused look at Mae. His tone didn't seem to have any sort of sarcasm or mockery to it, just genuine incredulity. Sure, the digimon had looked positively threatening a mere minute ago, but Dio still seemed to find it hard to believe anything that looked like this "Kappy" could elicit that sort of reaction from...anyone, really.

"...You know, that is a good question. Would he really be able to harm people while down an arm? Likely. There's plenty of one-armed swordsmen around. But they do have to learn how to fight without the benefit of two hands..." Specter mused.
In truth, the arm wasn't just exerting control. It was amplifying a lot of things in the Kotemon. Hatred. Fear. Those were the primary things to keep in mind here. The Kotemon just lay there. In truth? He didn't really care that much if he was supposed to die right then and there.
Maybe things would be better that way. But surprisingly, the Digimon he thought he knew but not quite healed him. Dim eyes became a little brighter.
Yet the Kotemon had but one question.
"...Why would you do that. That's wasted effort. What the fuck."
Mae blinked at this sight before she looked to Dio. "...It's been after me for as long as I could remember. Do you...know what that's like? Having to always be moving? Afraid of something that could be behind you at any moment? Something that hates you for reasons you don't understand or know...? Do you know what that's like, Mister Dark Lord?" That was phrased as a genuine question. From a child that really was unsure how she should be feeling or acting right now.

Colin looked back at Carlos as he asked that question. "Yeah... well... in most of our encounters with hostile digimon, once the thing that's been their problem has been removed, they tend to work out okay I guess?" he replied. After all, what was the alternative? Land the finishing blow on a down-and-out Kotemon? No, that wasn't Colin's style, nor that of his partners.
Then Carlos asked about the arm business. Colin rubbed his chin in thought. "Well... in my experience in the digital world, curses and such can be real things" he said. "Maybe that was something that happened here?"
Hopefully the curse had been lifted though. He didn't really know for sure.
Dio seemed surprised that the object of Mae's torment had gone down so easily. That turned the trio's heads in the direction of the Keramon.
Specter mused about fighting with one hand as opposed to two. "Oh yeah, it's hard alright. I've read Song of Ice and Fire" Luke answered, blinked for a moment, then withdrew. Him nerding out about Jaime Lannister would probably not be very helpful at all in this situation.
Instead, Luke looked to the Kotemon's reaction. And his wolfish face curled into a smile. "I did it because I remember you, Kappy" he said. "It's me, Luke... or... Euclid, it's been a while, I don't know where I got that name from".
"Euclid, Leky, Luke, just how many names do you have, bro?" Bellamy asked. But he was curious about how this would play out.
"Well..." Luke continued. "If you don't remember me, what do you remember? Just curious is all". Best make sure he knew what this digimon's mentality was before declaring everything "all-clear" so to say.

Curses being something physical and common on the digital world? Considering the reality bending powers some digimon wielded, that wasn't all that surprising at this point.
"I can believe that." Carlos said drily, shrugging a bit. "Well I just hope he'll be fine after this, at least. He doesn't seem like that bad of a guy." He said, smiling in amusement as the small Kotemon complained rather noticeably at being healed by Luke. "...colorful language aside, of course."
Mae's words, wheter intentionally or not, did struck a chord with Dio, the demon falling completely silent at the virus' barrage of questions. She raised a fairly good point, one that the demon was not able to question back or even answer properly, instead looking quietly at Mae for a good while.
"...No. I do not." The demon finally replied. Really, there was nothing he could reply to that. Did he know how it felt to be hunted? Certainly, virus' digimon were never the most well received in most places, and even back on the Dark Area it was fairly hard to go by a day without someone else trying to make you their lunch. But those situation, while bad, had been far different, and it hadn't lasted as long as Mae's. Dio had never experienced such a constant, never ending state of dread in his life...at least never for that long. She had every right to be as afraid as she had been if that was the case. He let out a sigh, shifting around in place a bit with a very mild hint of discomfort, as he looked down at the Keramon once again, and tried to move the conversation to a slightly less negative subject.
"What will Mae do now?"

"...Believe me, that's only the tip of the iceberg with how...uh. Colorful this guy can get." The spirit shrugged. The Kotemon turned his head to stare at the ghost. Then to the human and Dio. Then Mae. It was pretty clear he had zero idea who either of them were. Even the Keramon he had been chasing.
"That's a loaded question. I...don't actually remember a lot. Hazy. Muddy. Like stained glass. The crappy kind. It isn't pleasant. Oh. There were also eyes. A lot of eyes....Why do you have so many names now?" Why did the Kotemon suddenly seem a little uncomfortable? Emotionless as he was, of course. Speaking of the Keramon, however?
"Then don't ask why I'm scared of something. I don't know what to do now. I guess...go around the world at my own pace now? I don't know." She shrugged.
