It was close...
Iki had spent the last hour cutting his way through loads of vines and shrubbery, following his D-Tector which had picked up a signal of another Spirit. According to Falcomon, this spirit was of the Beast Digimon, Halsemon. After this, he would feel at least semi-ready to find and take on RedMagnamon.
"Are we there yet?" Falcomon asked Iki as they searched this large jungle.
"Ask me that one more time..." Iki threatened the spirit, annoyed. That was the TENTH time he had asked that question, and he was just getting sick of that overgrown owl!
"...you do know of this area's history, right, Iki? I could give you some tidbits if you desire..."
"No need. We're just coming in, collecting the Spirit, then getting the hell out of here. Just let me know if you see anything coming up."
Sighing, the Falcomon spirit nodded and was on the lookout for anything that happened to move.

Also present here in the depths of the Server Woods were a trio of well travelled explorers, well, at least relatively speaking. One was a 15 year old black haired human by the name of Colin, and the other two were purple-and-white and red-and-white furred digimon, Bellamy and Luke. The three of them had been exploring the extent of the old abandoned Trailmon tracks around Rosewood, and were noting down which were intact, which needed repairs, and which should be avoided. For this task, they were riding a pump-operated handcart, well, technically Colin was operating it. Luke and Bellamy were sitting on the front, their legs halfway dangling over the edge. And, since the three of them had little to fear, even in these woods, they were passing time by practicing on their music. Between them was a loud boombox. Luke was holding a snazzy looking Keytar, while Bellamy held a microphone. And the two played their songs, much to Colin's annoyance. "I wanna hold 'em like they do in Texas please, Fold 'em, let 'em hit me, raise it, baby stay with me, I love it! Russian Roulette is not the same without a gun~ But since we're dubbed by 4kids we must make do without one, sucks!
Oh, oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh ohoohoo I'll give him hot, show him what I've got~ Oh, oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh ohoohoo I'll give him hot, show him what I've got~!
Can't read my, can't read my, no he can't read my Poker Face! He has got me like nobody~ Can't read my, can't read my, no he can't read my Poker Face! He has got me like nobody~!""Guys can you pick an even less appropriate song to play in this part of the forest?!" Colin asked when his exasperation could get no higher. The digimon stopped playing for a moment before quickly starting up with another.
"Everybody get up it's time to slam now~ We got a real jam goin' on~ Welcome to the Space Jam-" "THAT WAS MEANT TO BE A RHETORICAL QUESTION!" Colin snapped. The twins giggled, but at least decided to stop for now. The line was getting a bit rough here, so they thought it best to pay closer attention to the rail ahead. That said, their boombox shenanigans made it clear to others in the area that they were there.
In the silence, Colin heard a beeping noise from his pocket. That was odd, his D-Arc rarely did that before. He took it out and noticed that it seemed to be picking up... some kind of signal. A signal he hadn't seen since locating his twin digimentals in the Ancient Ruins of the desert. Now this was interesting...

As they were searching, Iki and Falcomon heard noises... were they coming from a radio of some kind? Whatever they were, they were getting louder and louder. And loud noises meant unwanted attention... of the dangerous kind.
Without speaking, Iki quickly Spirit Evolved into his Sprite form, Falcomon, and hid in the trees. From there, he saw a train track with a hand-pushed cart riding down it. On it was a teenager with two different Digimon, looking like complete and utter idiots. They were definitely the cause of the noise, however. So just like that, Iki threw his Ninja Blade attack at them, specifically at the boombox, the Keytar, and the microphone. After firing the attack, Iki spoke up:
"If you play music like that again, I'll fire far more than warning shots." And just like that, he hopped away from the scene, now focusing on his search yet again. "Alright, then... ah, here we are." According to his D-Tector, the Spirit should be somewhere... underground?
He looked down and saw what seemed to be a set of stone stairs, with a stone door at the bottom of them. It must be another temple, like where he found the first Spirit...

Right after they had finished messing around with the boombox and were beginning to take their surroundings seriously, Luke's ears twitched as he sensed something hostile nearby. At once, he turned around to his partner.
"Colin, trouble, green level" he said simply. Colin responded at once, drawing his green digivolution card. 'Green' trouble meant hostile forces at Champion level or lower, meaning he would evolve his partner to the Champion level to deal with it. At once, Colin stopped moving the handcart and instead slashed the card through his D-Arc, immediately evolving Luke to his Teslamon form. And with that, the agile rabbit warrior readied his spear.
He saw the ninja blades incoming, then deftly used his spear to counter them. One, two, three, the incoming blades were deflected by the weapon. And he remained on the guard for anything more. Thankfully the attacks seemed like they were at Rookie level, giving him extra confidence.
His ears pricked up as he heard the threat. Ah, so the attack came from someone simply miffed at their music eh? Well, they didn't seem like a significant threat, so Luke turned back to his brother and partner.
"Yeesh, guess the digimon around here don't mess around with noise complaints" he remarked. Nonetheless, all three decided it would probably be for the best if they don't play music again, even if it made them feel less troubled in these woods.
But still, Luke's beast senses detected that the digimon had moved toward the signal that Colin's digivice was indicating. So, seemed they would meet up soon. Still though, Luke would keep on guard. If that digimon attacked them again, they would be very sorry indeed when they woke up in the Village of Beginnings.
Luke remained silent as they came to a halt at the end of the line. Colin decided to hide the boombox and relevant equipment under the handcart before he'd proceed onward toward the temple entrance as his D-Arc seemed to encourage. And on the way, he soon saw a Falcomon.
"Ah, hi there" he said as he approached. "I take it you picked up the signal here too?" he ventured forth as an explanation as to why he was here.

Iki would've been lying if he claimed that he wasn't impressed with the group's skills, because he was. Not only was the Elecmon able to sense Iki coming, but he greatly informed his partner about it and deflected all three attacks. It wasn't like the spirit user was trying to hurt them in the first place, anyways, though. Iki smirked a bit after giving his warning and dashing towards the signal.
As Iki was inspecting the bizarre-looking temple entrance, he heard a voice behind him. He didn't know who it was, so before looking, he responded with:
"Apologies, but I am very busy. I don't have time to deal with-" And that's when he turned around, seeing that it was indeed the trio from before. "Well well well... you REALLY need to learn that not all Digimon are civilized in this world. If a wild one were to hear your racket, you would've been ambushed by a great deal of them."
After saying that, the human mentioned picking up a signal. Could he be looking for the Beast Spirit, too?
"The Spirit is mine. Do NOT stand in my way. Understand?" Iki would then walk down to the temple door, observing it. It couldn't just be THAT easy to just walk in, right? Cautiously, Iki would then turn the door handle and pull the door...
...and the trap door beneath him would open, causing him to fall down and down. Luckily for him, the door was just decoration, and this trap door was the true entrance.

Bellamy folded his arms and smirked at Iki's words. "It's a free digital world, if I wanna sing, I sing. Some no-fun asshole digimon got a problem with that, sure, I'll throw down with 'em. Besides, ain't like we were stayin' in the same place, anyone that's gonna throw attacks of us kiinda looks like a pretty big asshole in my books".
"Bells, heel" Colin warned. Then the other guy mentioned something about a spirit. Ah, so this guy was a spirit wielder. That made Bellamy scoff some more.
"Goddamn you're lucky Luke here didn't decide to roast ya" he said. "Puny little sprite spirit like you? And as far as I know you humans don't come back if ya get wasted in the digital world... yeesh, guess you're either incredibly naive or stupid"
"Bells, come on, stop talking please" Colin said to his partner. Understandably Bellamy was being pissed off at being attacked and then trash-talked to, but Colin ideally wanted this situation diffused rather than escalated.
Colin was about to assure the other that he wasn't after spirits, but digimentals, but lost his chance when he suddenly fell down into a trap door. The three of them stared blankly at what had happened.
"So, uh... should we... help him?" Bellamy asked hesitantly.
"Well of course" Colin said without hesitation. "Would probably best go down the cautious way though. Bells, are you right to fly down and take a look?"
"Oh boy am I ever!" Bellamy said eagerly, but looked disappointed when Colin didn't reveal an evolution card but instead revealed a Wings of Light card, which would grant Bellamy the ability to fly for a short time in his Rookie form. Welp, better than nothing.
Colin then swiftly scanned the card and a pair of glowing white wings sprouted from Bellamy's back. The Impmon trained them for a moment until he was able to levitate in place, then supposed he'd best go on to see if the other guy survived.
"Hello!! Can ya hear me?!" Bellamy called down into the trap door, his wings beating periodically to slow his descent.
Colin uses Wings of Light on Bellamy.
Card Name: Wings of Light Type: Modify Rank: Bronze Duration: 3 Post Effect: The target Digimon gains wings made of pure light for three turns, enabling flight.

Okay, any good feelings Iki had about this group were officially demolished. "It's not a matter of 'having fun,' you moron. Not everyone can afford that luxury, and frankly I think it's a dumb move to do so. It's about staying alive, above all else. And another thing: If I WANTED to hurt you in the first place, I would've used more powerful spirits."
Thankfully, Iki had made a graceful land when the trap door opened up. When his feet touched the surface, he took the time to inspect the area: a single, square-shaped stone entryway, with a doorless frame extending into what seemed to be a hallway.
I think this is the true entrance... the door handle did not move like any other...
After finishing that thought, he heard that annoying voice of the Impmon from before, asking if he heard him. Great, he wasn't going to get rid of these idiots, was he?
"Unfortunately, yes, I can hear you. If you want to go into that temple, I think the door is merely decoration."

By now Bellamy had settled in the mindset of 'yeah, screw this guy' as well. But he wasn't angry at him, in fact he was in the mindset that teasing him was getting kinda fun. "Yeesh, pal, no need to come across like ya've got some kinda pole lodged up your ass" he said. "And a digimon could take offense at that kinda talk... you think we'd be so stupid that we wouldn't know that already? Oh, by the way, if you're still huntin' for spirits, even if you threw down with your strongest one, it wouldn't be enough..."
"Okay, Bells, that's enough" Colin said, promptly ending the argument by dragging Bellamy back by the shoulder. The Impmon would have objected, but his partner had grown rather strong in their two years of acquaintance and could kinda lift his whole body with one arm if he wanted to, so he chose to reluctantly submit. In Colin's opinion, while the spirit user was being kinda jerkish and uptight for being so angry at them just for letting loose a little, he didn't want Bellamy to go too far here.
Anyway, while the trap door opened and Bellamy flew down to see if he was still alive, it seemed he was.
"It's all fine, Col" Bellamy said, taking attention to his partner's wishes and no longer backtalking the Falcomon spirit. "It's only about a 20 foot drop. Luke should take care of ya!"
"Okay..." Colin replied. Soon after, they were joined in the trap door by Colin and Luke, the Teslamon helping Colin break his fall using his powerful legs. Luke let Colin down and the three examined their surroundings.
"Right, so, sorry about the misunderstanding earlier, but, seems we've all got something we're looking for down here" Colin said to Iki. "You've got your spirit, we've got digimentals. So, why don't we all take some deep breaths and go about this sensibly, okay?"

"A dinosaur can crush a monkey easily," Iki says, "but with good strategy, the monkey can take down the dinosaur." Basically, he was saying power alone isn't the key factor in winning a fight.
Thankfully, that was enough of the fighting as the Tamer and his twin Digimon came down the trap door along with Iki, where Colin mentioned they were looking for Digimentals.
"A spirit and a Digimental in the same place? Huh... anyways, I'm not the teaming up type. You three would only get in my way. So if we're both going in this area, it'd probably be best if we did not speak to each other." Iki would then observe the hallway that lead to the next room: he saw a bunch of holes on the sides of the wall. Curiously, he'd kneel down and touch one of the tiles of the hallway floor, pressing down on it...
And just like that, out of the wholes came incredibly sharp swords. If anyone was in that hallway, they'd either be dead or being reborn in the Village of Beginnings by this point. However, there was a certain set of tiles that wouldn't trigger the swords to come out. But sadly, Iki can't figure out the pattern...

Bellamy smirked at the analogy, but didn't say anything. Yeah sure, a monkey could beat a dinosaur, especially if the monkey had access to weapons of a thermonuclear scale, but he thought saying that out loud might make Colin annoyed, so he didn't state that.
As they landed in the chamber below, Iki stated that it would probably be best if they didn't talk to each other. While Bellamy thought that was perfectly acceptable, Colin at least wanted to let him have a second thought about it.
"Well... I mean, my partners are beast digimon, they might be able to discern extra things in the path ahead" Colin offered. Then Iki tested the path ahead, and to Colin's dismay, the path ahead seemed heavily trapped.
"Surely there's a way we can get through that?" Luke asked. Of course there was a way available to Colin, but it would use a lot of their energy to do so. So instead they'd try and think of a less obvious method.
"Well, I think all we need to do is find out what tiles trigger the arrows and which ones don't" Colin offered as a suggestion. "So, all we've got so far is pressure plates. Anything else?"

This situation was pretty tricky. Iki looked at the pressure plates on the ground to see if there were any markings, but to his surprise, there weren't any to be found at all. However, what he did spot... was a lever?
"You have got to be kidding me," Iki said as he sweatdropped, pointing towards the lever. What kind of lazy temple design was this? However, Iki thought about it more, and realized that if that lever was pulled, the ceiling would probably become covered in spikes and slowly come down, or the door would open again... SOMETHING bad. No one could possibly be that naive or stupid, right?
"I don't trust that lever. Something else has to be the key for getting past here." Iki says. "But I just don't see it..."
What no one knew, however, was that the lever was both a clue and a trap. If it was pulled to a certain point, the pressure plates would stop working, and the group could just waltz right through and continue searching the temple. If it went too far, however, even MORE swords would come out and pierce right through everyone there, killing the humans and sending the Digimon back to the Village of Beginnings.
Would Colin and the twins be able to figure it out?

Their eyes were drawn toward the lever. At first, Iki examined it, but hesitated to figure out what it meant. Luke, who had studied to become a digimon engineer took a closer look at the mechanism. And, to Colin and Bellamy's surprise, raised his spear and jammed it into the wall just above the lever. From there, he used its leverage to break out the stone tile above. With the stone clear, he could now see what the lever could do. It appeared to have two functions, as indicated by the two bars in the earth behind it. As Luke inspected it further, one bar would be triggered by the lever moving halfway, the other by it moving all the way.
"Alright... I think I know what's happening here..." Luke began, turning to the group. "For us to proceed, other than us all figuring out a way to fly across without triggering any pressure plates, we can attempt to disable them by moving the lever halfway. However, moving it all the way would cause some other action to occur, and I have the feeling that we won't like it".
With this statement said, Luke wished he could figure out more about the mechanism. But that would involve ripping this whole tunnel apart, which he supposed would more likely cause its collapse sooner than finding any more useful information. And so, he waited for the agreement before flipping the switch halfway.
Colin was still somewhat nervous though. That this tunnel had so many traps set up, he was worried that there could be some severe danger down here. But he took a deep breath to keep himself calm. One of his crests was Tenacity after all. He had to stay cool under pressure after all.
Bellamy meanwhile gave a yelp as his wings faded, causing the Impmon to fall to the floor. Thankfully he didn't land on any pressure plates. He stood back up and pouted a little, he liked being able to fly, even in his rookie form.

"Impressive. I'm nowhere near that level of intelligence to figure something like that out," Iki commented Luke as he headed down the path. There was a small smile on his beak. "In fact, when I was a kid I purely wanted to be a chef."
And so, with Luke's smart engineering know-how, the group continued along the hallway. At the end, they would find some stairs that lead upward. Venturing up these stairs would lead to another room, which... was literally just a bottomless pit, but you could still see another platform on the very far end.
"Obviously, they want us to fly over there..." Iki says. "However, if that past room was any indication, something will just be thrown at us if we attempt to."
Iki was half-right. On the far end of the wall, four huge fans would then begin to blow, in turn causing flying in the OPPOSITE direction to be very hard. And of course, on the end the group was on, the door shuts on them and spikes come out of THAT end of the wall. So it was either fly or die.
"Whoever made the temple like this was incredibly sadistic," Iki groaned as he tried his damned hardest to fly through the wind.

Luke gave an uncertain glance back at Iki as he made that statement. Given his level of dislike and facetiousness to them so far he wasn't sure if that was sarcasm or not. Well, given that he didn't specifically say anything particularly insulting this time he chose to take it as a compliment. "Okay... good for you then?" he offered in response.
Well then, seems this trap was neutralized for now. Luke cautiously prodded the pressure plate with his spear to test it, and it didn't respond. Okay, good, it seemed they were fine to continue.
But the next section of the dungeon seemed to hold something worse for them. They stood before a bottomless pit, with nothing ahead to connect them via land to the other side ahead. Indeed, it seemed they were expected to fly somehow. But, complicating things was the fact that the door behind them closed and a disturbing amount of spikes appeared in the wall behind them. And ahead of them, great fans began to blow an enormous current of wind at them. This wasn't good. Any attempt to fly would only cause them to be impaled on the wall behind.
"Dammit, Luke, do something!" Bellamy cried, struggling not to be blown back at the wall. The Impmon almost lost his balance, being as light as a cat, but thankfully the heavier Colin caught him in time.
The evolved Teslamon knew he had little chance other than to try, so he readied his electric spikes, charged his power, then with a cry of "Ark Lightning!" aimed a thunderbolt straight at the fans ahead, hoping to do some damage to them.

Fortunately, Iki's 'partners' in this journey seemed to be able to think quickly in dire situations, as Luke had the idea to use Ark Lightning on the fans that would be the sole reason for their deaths. Unfortunately, that plan would fail as the strike would do absolutely nothing.
"If a lightning bolt isn't gonna do anything, I don't know what will," Iki grunted as he flew for dear life. Then suddenly, an idea came to him...
"Alright, I have an idea... Slide Evolution! Angemon!" Suddenly a bunch of fractal code would form around the Falcomon, which would then mold and morph into the angel Digimon, Angemon. From there, he faced the spiky ends of the wall. He hoped this would work...
"Omni Typhoon!!!" Iki would then attempt to form a tornado in such a way that it would blow in the opposite direction as the fans at a stronger rate, meaning it would cancel out the fans and even push the others forward! If it worked, the others would be able to fly to the other platform safely.
