Otohime, too, pulled out Yen to pay her pastries with. She seemed almost proud of the fact. Once outside, she immediately pulled out the chocolate-y treat and began devouring it hastily. "Aaaaaaaah, that hit the spot! Aight, that was that done! Where to next? Back to the park? To the arcade? To the nearest supermarket so we can see what new kinds of Kit Kat flavors there are??" She chuckled. "Or is there anywhere you wanna go? Some weird-ass nerd place I've never seen? I don't always wanna drag ya around! Come on, you show me a cool place for once!"

Naoko followed Otohime outside, but unlike her, had unwrapped her pastry and started eating it slowly while the other girl wolfed hers down. "Hang on, I'm still eating." She replied. Good things to think about, though. Unfortunately, she had no idea what kit kat flavors had been in for a while--the troubles of confining yourself to your room for the past few days.
"W-W-Wait, you want me to pick a place out...?" Naoko took a little bit to catch on to that, and her cheeks turned a bright red! Again! For the umpteenth time today! "Well, uh...I could try showing you a place I like to go to a lot or a shop I frequent..."
Both of these sounded like terrible ideas in Naoko's head. Absolutely inhuman.

Otohime listened intendly. But she did not react with boredom. No, she was *thrilled* to hear about these places! Ah, and there were two! "Aha! I knew there were cool Nao places! The shop sounds awesome, buuuuut we just spent money on the pastries, and I wanna keep some money to buy a cool action figure! So let's go to the cool place you like to go to! I really wanna see it!" No mockery in her voice, no insincerity in her smile. Just pure, innocent enthusiasm and cheer. It both clashed with her tough exterior, yet fit in well with that innocently cheerful nature of hers. It was true, stupid children -are- cuter.

Naoko could probably have detected Otohime's excitement from a mile away! Though, she felt a bit on the spot for some reason even if she was the one who suggested those two places. Thankfully Otohime seemed genuinely interested in going to see the other place so that was a huge plus.
She didn't really say much, she just took Otohime by the hand and lead her along and through the neighborhood. Huh, she seemed like she was actually getting the hang of where everything was. Or...As it eventually turned out?
Naoko was leading Otohime to a manga shop! ...That had been connected to a manga cafe. It was really close by her own house, too. Plus, it seemed like a quiet place too. Perhaps a no brainer as to why Naoko liked to come here. Finally, she spoke. "W-Well, here it is. Uh...Sorry if it's too nerdy or anything."

Otohime cheerfully followed Naoko, wanting to see where she will be led! As it turns out, she was led into a manga shop, with a manga cafe connected to it! That was new to her! Usually these things were apart! Regardless, Otohime had sparkles in her eyes when she saw all this paper. "You kiddin'? Nerdy is *awesome*! Man, I can't begin to fuckin' read all this shit!" She immediately ran over to the cafe half, grabbed a manga and flopped down into a chair. Seems she's grabbed some form of youkai-based shounen manga from the 80s! Fitting for her, really!

It was a relief that Otohime was enjoying herself. And just simply enjoying herself, it was enjoying herself SIGNIFICANTLY. In fact, Naoko needed a moment to process that. "It's pretty neat, yep." Naoko replied to Otohime as the girl ran off into the cafe.
Hoookay. So, she went into the cafe, took a seat next to Otohime and just...looked around for a bit.
Yeah. Seemed real enough. Naoko was just about to get up to go find something to read of her own before she took note of what Otohime had picked up. She hadn't seen that one before, hence why it...well, stood out! The girl leaned over, and after a few seconds...
"Hey, whatcha reading?"

Otohime looked up from the manga when Naoko spoke to her? "Eeeeeeeh? Oh! This? This is called "Ushio and Tora"! It's about a guy who finds a giant tiger demon stuck to a rock by a spear, and freed the demon to fight back monsters. Now he and the demon defend people from evil monster and youkai! The guy fights with the spear and the tiger demon just uses himself! The demon starts out as a nasty bastard, but comes to being much nicer and noble! Teach suggested I read this to learn more Kanji!" With that she smiled and went right back to reading.

"That...sounds interesting." Kind of. It certainly wasn't anything Naoko had heard of before, but something else caught her attention. "You have problems with reading Kanji...?" Naoko inquired. It was an innocent question, truthfully. Plus, it was also an opportunity to get to know more about the girl.
Simple stuff. "Uh. Um. If you need help with learning Kanji, feel free to ask me whenever, okay? I like to think I've got a decent grasp on the symbols and what they mean." A decent grasp meaning she could at least read. Otohime seemed like she was doing fine, though. And as she went back to reading, Naoko continued to read along with her, still peering at the manga. "...The tiger's pretty neat."

Otohime looked up from the manga. "Yeah, I can't read kanji worth shit.", she said in a very matter-of-fact way. "Never finished highschool, got thrown out in 7th grade for being too violent. My fuckin' piece of shit parents never bothered to teach me how to behave and never looked for another school. They just stuffed books into my hands and said "there, learn". Fucking bastards." She was scowling at the memory of her parents, but her expression softened when Naoko suggested teaching her Kanji. "Oh, dude, that'd be super nice! Then I could learn all the cool Kanji my Teach says are too "advanced" for me to learn just yet!" Ah, and Nao was interested in her manga, too! "Hell yeah! Tora is awesome! He acts all like he;s a merciless maneater but deep down he's got a sense of justice!"

"That's not how learning works at all." Naoko stated, very matter-of-factly. This was also something that Naoko found quite...irritating. Infuriating, while too strong a word for right now, possibly, was also an accurate term. The fact that parents would mistreat their child like that never made sense to her. "Well, we'd need to actually get to the advanced ones before anything...But, I think you can learn it if given time and actual teaching." She nodded!
She wasn't quite sure how someone as dense as Otohime would learn kanji yet, but she was pretty sure she could figure a way out. Someway or another. "...Tora sounds like one of Titania's family. At least, what she's told me about them."
...Then the dumbest comparison hit her! "...Hey. Hey. What if Ushio and Tora are just the average tamer and partner?"

Otohime scratched her chin, thinking Naoko's idea over. Then her eyes widened and her mouth hung agape, as if someone had just told her the meaning of life. "Holy fucking shit you're right! They're totally Tamer and Partner! What if the author was secretly a Tamer and used his experiences in the manga? That would explain SO much!" She then flicked through the issue, trying to find more instances of potential Tamer and Partner synergy. Naoko's expression of sympathy for how her parents mistreated her was not mentioned, the girl's mind too occupied by this theory. But knowing her, she deeply appreciated it regardless!

That was something Naoko could not only ascertain, but also appreciate. She snickered at Otohime's reaction to this hilarious and likely untrue comparison. "I mean...Think about it, it'd really make sense if that were the case! But I dunno how we'd actually...you know, go and prove that short of actually writing to the mangaka." Which, while it would be fun, had the possibility of laying unanswered.
For a long while.
Man...Uncertainty wasn't really that fun of a feeling. And Naoko felt it wash over her once more. She didn't know how her friends were doing back there in the Digital World. Or...anything regarding what had occurred within the desert after she had departed. She looked like she was spacing out, in truth.

Otohime kept reading, desperate to find proof for her theory. However, she eventually realized Naoko had stopped responding. When she looked up, she found the girl spacing out. Otohime looked really worried. Oh no! She must be thinking again! What if she is thinking bad things? What if she's gonna get sad again? She didn't want that at all. She fussed about in Naoko's periphery vision, looking left and right and scratching her cheek. Then, she had an idea. She knew one thing that always snapped Naoko back into reality! And so, Naoko got yet another kiss on the lips from the Sukeban.

Thankfully, despite the...rather on the nose method Otohime had of bringing Naoko back to reality--the now, it still worked. The girl took a moment or two to register the fact that Otohime was kissing her again and upon recognizing that...She quickly pulled back and covered her face, cheeks red! "R-Ryukowe'reinacafe!" She hastily whispered! Seriously, do people just up and kiss each other in cafes? Oh gosh!
It didn't seem to quite...click with her that Otohime only did that to keep her focused. Nope. Not at all. The girl just covered her face with her hands in embarrassment. What's up with that?

Otohime smiled. "Hahaha, welcome back to Earth, Nao!" She gave her a gentle elbow jab, then hesitated. She then leant her head to the side, adopting a puzzling expression. "Why's that such a problem?" Oh dear, did Naoko really have to explain to her why the kiss was weird? Was Otohime even aware of the Biyomon and the Funbeemon? Was she even aware of -romance-? Or was this all a devious plot to make her feel flustered? It was impossible to tell, Otohime's face was a perfect poker face, either because of training...or because she really was -that- oblivious and stupid.
