It was reassuring to hear that everyone hear could agree on one thing: they wanted to leave, because nobody liked this place. Although this place was giving him a nice experience - meeting these two - he just wanted to leave it behind, and never go back unless he really needed to.
And like that, they took lead, Hideo and Kuki side-by-side. Though what Jodie said nearly made the boy stop.
He waved his stick-holding hand side to side. "You don't have to do any-"
"We'll make sure to keep you to that promise!" his partner interrupted, earning a stunned silence from Hideo.
One that his partner noticed fairly quickly. She spoke to him, though quietly, trying not to be heard by the others. "Hideo, if they offer to give you something as a reward before you ask for anything, then that means they really want to give it to you, so don't tell them no."
Hideo responded with similar quiet. "But...it feels mean, making her do something for us when she was so desperate."
"Eh, don't worry about that. We can discuss what exactly she can do after we get to the Trailmon. I promise I won't make her our slave or anything."
This just earned a sigh from the boy, but he didn't push it any further.
Between keeping an eye on her own partner, her focus on finding the way back to the Trailmon, and making sure the Keramon didn't get too close to them (fortunately, it seemed more interested in staying close to Jodie, but she couldn't feel safe around it), Kuki was distracted from noticing anyone else that might be approaching them.
Like the unfriendly digimon that was fast approaching them.

"Oh, it's okay! You really don't need to! A-At least for me. They did most of the work, I don't even...know where the station is..." Mae was...definitely a lot less sullen than she seemed when she met these three folk. Plus, she actually got to do something nice for people! It was truly a good feeling. Even if the other two were discussing stuff like...slaves and stuff...What's a slave? Unfortunately...All things must end sometimes. What was coming was hungry. Power hungry. As it picked up in speed and the sound of it's footsteps could be more easily heard, Mae found herself turning around to be greeted with a faceful of sharp red claws and a guttural hiss of "VANQUISH CLAW." The perpetrator was a strange draconic creature who was about as black as some variants of comedy and edgy folk within the world and also clad in a dark blue cloak, a hole in the hood blazing with azure flame. And he sent poor Mae down to the ground in a single blow, the Keramon letting out a cry of pain as she clutched her face. Well...What was left of it, at least. The Vanquish Claw seemed to have scraped the data off. The creature turned from Mae, and glanced at the other three present with a maddened look in it's eyes. "GONNA GET YOU. COMPLIANCE IS A NONFACTOR." And with that? It began to walk towards them. Given it was close? Kuki may want to act.
Mae got hit with a Vanquish Claw! She's got a big ol' gash on her face now because of it. It'll close up in two turns.

Jodie seemed a little surprised by the sudden exchange between the little boy and their spider friend, but it seemed like it wasn't anything bad. She planned on returning the favor whether he said no or not anyways. She felt very grateful towards them for their help, so she, from the bottom of her pure heart, wished to somehow show her gratitude.
"You are just as worthy to get something in return, why if you weren't so nice I would have been more worried...so thank you for being so nice." Jodie reassured Mae with a sincere and gentle smile. Everything seemed like it was going swimmingly for now...
"Back!" She heard the voice once again in her head, this time it sounded more pleading and urgent which caused Jodie to flinch back, and as she did Mae was assaulted. A short and threatening Digimon had attacked Mae and left a strange data filled gash on her face. Jodie fell on her rump, unable to grasp what was happening...it was going to get them?
"W-wha..t..?" She let out a whimper of fear as she froze once again, not sure what to do, stuck in a daze of fear, confusion and shock...and her egg begun to shake. Whatever was inside it wanted out. It wanted to protect her Jodie.

Hideo was the first to notice the sound of footsteps fast approaching them. He tilted his head back, already having assumed it was Jodie running towards the two of them. " Something wrong?" he asked, assuming she'd dashed forward to ask them something. He didn't expect to hear a completely different voice shout out something, followed by a sound he didn't recognize. The sound of Mae getting a part of her face torn off, as she cried out in pain. Before he could even ask what was going on, Kuki sprung into action, pushing him further ahead. He stumbled, but managed to avoid falling down. " Hideo, stay there!" she ordered, " We're being attacked!" He wasn't sure what was scaring him more: that they were being attacked by someone, or that Kuki was shouting at him. She hadn't done that before...though they also hadn't been attacked like this before either. It was enough for him to stay still, not even turning to try and get a better gauge on what was going on. She quickly assessed the situation: a random Hackmon appeared and was immediately attacking the others. The other human and her egg seemed to be fine, the former down on the ground but otherwise unharmed, but Mae...it was fortunate that Hideo couldn't see what that rookie did to to Mae's head. Even if she didn't trust it, she didn't think the Keramon deserved that. And now it was approaching them. No doubt to come for her next. Her first priority: get this guy away from everyone else. Especially from Hideo. Her two front legs rolled around each other as a ball of web formed beneath them, until it was about the size of the Hackmon's head. A small number of round bumps covered the ball, while a line of web grew from it. A bit of a rush job, but this would have to do; her KuMorningstar was ready. " Well I ain't hiding from you!" she shouted, to grab the Hackmon's attention, " So come and get me!" She twirled the web flail over her head - an end of the line wrapped around one of her front legs - before throwing it to crash into the side of the aggressor, to push it away from everyone else. And to incentivize him to go that way, she herself moved in that direction. KuMorningstar: Produces a flail (not a morningstar) out of web, with which she can use to strike from a distance. Not as strong as other rookie-level attacks, but great range. Also, can work as a pointy yo-yo or paddle-ball.

The Hackmon honestly couldn't care less about the humans. Humans? They didn't necessarily give much in the way of that sweet sustenance that's all the craze...With the spider shouting at it, it turned it's head towards her, readying another Claw strike as it leapt at her! "GOOD, BECAUSE THERE'S NO PLACE TO RUN."
Just in time, too, because this goddamn idiot did not notice the web flail that Kuki had been making in the slightest. It just slammed it right in the side and sent him rolling to the left. Oh! The spider was following it...Good. It looked at the claw before it decided that the best course of action was to stab itself with the claw.
Wait. What?
Did it actually just do that? Holy shit, what a moro--
The Hackmon became bathed in azure fire. His claw was now on fire. His other limbs were on fire. He just gazed forth at Kuki. "I AM NOW MEDIUM-RARE." What? At least she seemed to succeed in keeping Hackmon's attention away from Jodie, Hideo and Mae... Speaking of.
Mae was in an inordinate amount of pain from the earlier Vanquish Claw. Like, no joke, it felt as though her head was about to explode. Furthermore, she couldn't really see. "J-Jodie? Hideo?" She whimpered. "...I-I don't know what happened...O-Or what that...thing just did...but this hurts a lot..."
Hackmon just got hella lit, fam. He's on fire for two turns and it's probably ill advised to try hitting him with melee. He also took light damage from KuMorningstar and is now a good bit away from the humans!
Good job, Kuki!

It was all moving so fast. But one thing was for certain, whatever this Digimon was, it was not nice. Jodie trembled in fear and looked down towards Mae, the poor Digimon looked like her face had been clawed mostly off. If it weren't for the fact that no blood, but rather, data was pouring out, Jodie would have fainted. But still...the fact data was pouring out made it all the more clear to her this wasn't the real world. This was a dangerous world...
"M...Mae...?" Jodie whimpered out, not quite being able to speak as fear dried up her throat. She tried to crawl to her to try and get her back and maybe somehow treat the wound.
"M-Mae it's okay just...u-uhm..." She reached to touch her head... but that was all she could do as her attention swapped to Kuki and the Digimon that just stabbed itself to release himself from the webs...what..? So much was happening...and she couldn't do anything.
"Please...Someone help..."
"I am here."
With a gasp, the DigiEgg in her arms had begun to shine, a bright light covered her and Mae who were right next to it and from it...Jodie felt the shape of her egg change to that of a small..thing? It was a creature... Once the light receded she looked down to find..A small angel like Digimon.
"Rest assured child..I have heard your wishes. I will cure her." The gentle voice from before echoes in her head as the small Kyupimon looked at her with a determined expression. She nodded slightly as she moved back... Kyupimon gently touched Mae's wound and focused her power.
"Healing Wave."
Her small stubby hands emitted light which enveloped Mae's wound and would lightly heal some of the damage made. She frowned slightly.
"This form...does not allow my full potential..." She looked back at Jodie who only hugged Kyupimon.
"Thank you..!" Jodie was thankful..thanks to her Mae was healed and wouldn't have to endure too much pain here.
"Even if it wasn't much, it still helped...Thank you."
"A-Ah...I appreciate the thanks little one, but we must still be weary, the scoundrel is in battle with our allies." She told her, all through telepathy of course. She did seem somewhat upset by this though. Jodie nodded hesitantly...was violence the only way here? It really did seem like it...
"Mae. Can you still fight? I will support you both."
Shiro used:
Healing Wave: She focuses light to come out from her hands, shooting at a target and healing them a small amount. If the target is marked, remove their fatigue. Cooldown 1 post.

Hideo was confused.
He could only guess what was going on from what he was overhearing. Mae sounded like she was in a lot of pain, and he still didn't know if Jodie was hurt too. Someone got hit with something, and now Kuki and that attacking digimon were a bit further away from them.
He didn't know what he could, or should, do. All he'd done so far was do what his partner told him, but with no clear idea where everyone was, all he was doing was standing still. Wasn't there something he could do, other than tighten his grip on the stick he still held?
Then it sounded like Jodie was talking to someone else...and shortly after, another sound coming back from she and Mae were. He could only hear her voice, but it sounded like she was somewhat relieved. "Is...is someone here to help us?" Hideo asked, only then turning back towards the others so they could hear him better, yet still standing in the same spot. "Are you guys alright?"
He wished someone would tell him what was happening.
Kuki was too focused on her foe to pay attention to her new ally's birth. She already planned out how this was gonna go: she had to make sure this guy didn't get close to her so he didn't claw her like with Mae, until he was too pummeled to put up a fight. Then she would close in for the kill.
Her first tactic worked, and now he was far enough from the others that he couldn't get a quick shot in before she could do anything. Though what she wasn't ready for was him to attack himself. The four eyes on the right side of her face raised nonexistent eyebrows as he stabbed himself with his claw. A baffling tactic to be sure, and while it did confuse her for a short while, it probably wasn't worth the harm he caused himself. "I'm not sure what the next step in your plan is, but I don't think the one after is profit-"
And then she was why he did so as his limbs lit up in a blue blaze. That could be a problem...if she planned to get close to him. Yet, there she was, still a good distance away from him, with the web flail still in her grasp.
This time, she'd be sending it to hit him right over the head. It was a part of him that didn't seem to be on fire, though it still carried a risk - she might knock some sense into him.

"TONIGHT I DINE UPON SPIDER SOUP." This was getting nonsensical, but it was still pretty...Dangerous? Hackmon just stared up at the flail as it sooooared...and he raised a flaming claw to cover his head. Simple, really. The flail still hurt...But now it was also burning. Also, his hands were not as sensitive as his head. The spider was thinking correctly, though. She had distance. And he wasn't about to get a quick shot in, even as he darted forwards to try striking the Kumomon with a flaming Vanquish Claw.
Meanwhile, Mae? Was...still blind. There was another voice now, maybe Jodie's egg hatched? Her pain was soothed but...This was...infuriating. Felt like she was as helpless as usual. The Keramon did respond. But... "...I am more than capable of doing harm." A far cry from the sweet squid from earlier. As if to punctuate that, a paw--a paw erupted from Mae's face, with another following suit.
Sooomething was starting to pull itself out.
Thwap! Hackmon mitigates the damage a little by using his arm as a shield. Kuki now has a flaming flail, though. Maybe she could use that? Also, Hackmon attacked with Vanquish Claw again.
Mae's evolving...?

"Y-Yes I think..?" Jodie answered in response to the child's question, looking down at Mae who seemed less than pleased with her current situation.
"No time for pleasantries... We must put a stop to this mad Digimon." She telepathed, looking at Kuki and the Hackmon duking it out. If only she too could be of more use...Jodie could tell Kyupimon was itching to try and do something. She was somewhat thankful Kyupimon didn't jump in like a battlehungry maniac, maybe she too wanted a less violent way to solve this, but with the Hackmon being the way he was, this seemed unlikely...And finally she spoke.
"H-Hey..!" Jodie shouted, her voice shaky and frail, directing her gaze to the Hackmon.
"Why are you...why are you trying so hard to hurt us...you're even hurt yourself...if you want to talk about something that's making you upset it's okay...you...we don't need to fight!" She pleaded. Kyupimon looked back at Jodie with a slightly saddened face mixed with surprise. That was a bit of a weak attempt at resolving things but she found it admirable she even had the guts to say that to this Hackmon.
But probably not the smartest thing to do.
"Jodie, child...I understand your desire for peace and share the sentiment but..this is the Digital World...there is not many chances for peace with Digimon like him..."
Suddenly she pushed Jodie back, away from Mae who seemed to have cracked. Literally.
"Mae?!" Jodie gasped in shock as she witnessed this very gruesome form of Digivolving.

Some amount of relief went through Hideo when Jodie gave him an answer, but he was still uneasy. He could tell it was unsure, and he still didn't get a response for Mae.
He just didn't like standing there by himself, when everyone else was fighting or hurt or scared. Slowly, he began walking over towards where he last heard Mae and Jodie. He didn't try checking the area around him for anything he might trip over with his stick - anxiety was doing a great job at ruining his focus. He was having enough trouble just keeping a hold on the stick.
Jodie was making it easy for him to track her, though he doubted her speech was going to have an effect on this guy. Their attacker just seemed kind of...unreasonable at the moment. Maybe when Kuki made him stop, they could try calming him down.
His partner had the same thought, except she wanted to go a step further.
It seemed that the Hackmon wasn't a complete idiot. Not only did her flail not hit what she was aiming for, but now it was on fire. While no doubt a visual spectacle for those who could watch, that essentially gave her weapon a time limit. She didn't have the time to make a new one - her opponent would probably take that chance to charge her.
And she wasn't very keen about a flaming madmon getting close to her. As it was attempting right now, with another claw attack.
Getting out of the way was easy enough with the distance she maintained; all she had to do was jump to the side so the flaming claw would miss her completely.
And shortly after, a flaming flail would be heading straight for the Hackmon's back. She was going to get as much use out of this thing before it burned away. Or started burning her.
She was so focused on the fight that she was completely oblivious to Mae's transformation. She had an enemy to face, after all.

This fight did indeed now have a time limit of sorts. There was no doubt about that. The spider turned out to be a bit faster than the Hackmon anticipated...Then again? This was probably because it was a spider. The Hackmon also didn't anticipate Kuki using the flail being on fire to her advantage. For as much as his flames gave him power? They did not make him immune to his own attacks. With a slam and a screech, the Hackmon found himself even toastier.
That kind of hurt.
To make matters worse, the paws reaching out of Mae's face suddenly gained...vicious red claws that pulled the rest of the Digimon out. That was a Meicoomon, but it was definitely not the usual sort you'd come across. A more pronounced mane and feelers atop of the claws marked whatever that was. In actuality? Mae had simply used the single worst move she could come up with the moment she had properly digivolved.
And the Meicoomon let out a feral growl that might or might not alert Kuki and Hackmon to it existing. The latter had a rather explicit reaction.
"Fuck."

Kyupimon observed the distant battle that went on as the spider's flail caught fire. Kyupimon thought it was smart of Kuki to use it as an improved weapon, however this now meant that if she did not defeat him fast, it would burn up and leave her defenseless. But for now she was driving the Hackmon back. Things weren't looking well.
"Jodie...we might do well in escaping. For your safety." Kyupimon telepathed to Jodie, exclusively, not wanting anyone to hear in to their mental conversation, but Jodie looked back at her with doubt.
"B-But...we can't just leave them..." Jodie replied in her head, Kyupimon looking concerned over the development.
"M..Mae..?" Jodie called out fearfully, taking a step back as she observed the Meicoomon fully exit from the cask that had entrapped her not to long ago, and she looked....less than nice. Kyupimon held Jodie back and was determined to protect her were Mae look to harm Jodie. She wasn't afraid to fight for her.
"Mae...that's you right..? Are you okay..?" Jodie asked in a rather pleading fashion. She was scared by the way she had growled.
"Mae, I ask of you to confirm. Are you still of right mind? You know who your enemy is?" Kyupimon asked her with doubt in her telepathic voice, doubtful that Mae was in any right mind to think.

Just as she intended, the flaming flail smacked right into the Hackmon's back. This thing didn't seem like it was going to last much longer. Maybe another hit. But she could just make another, though it would probably be a lower quality than the last. If she could just find a way to stop her flail from being lit on fire again, she could just whittle him down, then get in close and-
Something else caught her mind. A noise she didn't expect, from the where Mae and Jodie were.
Her attention finally shifted away from her opponent, and to her horror, she found its cause: a Meicoomon.
"Oh shit." That was the last thing they needed: a champion-level infamous for indiscriminately causing mayhem and death. Right where that Keramon had been...who looked like she was just a skin suit for the champ.
It barely even registered that the egg that was once in Jodie's arms was now an in-training. Or that maybe those two were in danger because of how close they were to the Meicoomon. They weren't who she was worried about.
Her head turned to Hideo - or where she had told him to stay. Where he no longer was.
But from the corner of her eyes, she could see him walking
"Hideoooo!" she shouted, dropping the flaming flail on the ground and running straight towards the boy, completely disregarding the opponent she was just fighting to the death. Not that she was losing much - the sphere portion fell off the moment it hit the ground, gradually turning to goop as the fire raged on. "Stooooop! Don't get any closer!"
It seemed to be enough to make him stop, though he still had a perplexed look on his face. "Why?" he asked aloud, thankfully having the decency to ask questions after doing what she told him. "What's going on?"
But she wasn't going to answer him until she got closer. At least, closer than he was to the Meicoomon - when she wasn't looking at Hideo, she was making sure that monster wasn't getting any closer to him.

Both Hackmon and the Meicoomon were still. It was kind of tense. Wait, no, fuck that, it was VERY tense. "I'm perfectly fine. Unlike this...food."
Yeah, if that's not a red flag, what would be? Hackmon gulped. Even he knew how much bad news a single one of these monsters was. And suddenly, he wasn't the worst thing in the room anymore. Luckily for Kuki, Mae didn't seem to have any intent on getting closer to her and Hideo. Nope, her focus was locked on Hackmon.
That thing hurt her.
The one way to solve people hurting you is to make sure they don't come back. Right?
The Meicoomon suddenly whipped her claws forward, tendrils coming out at the end with...gattling guns at the end. Little ones. They revved up and let out a salvo of bullets all aimed at the Hackmon. And as they hit something, be it him or the ground, they kicked up a lot of dirt, leaving a cloud obscuring the Hackmon. And the bullets just...kept coming.
Did Hackmon just die?
...Maybe? Mae used Spider Shooter. You'll have to find out yourself if he's still alive or not.

Jodie looked over at the now slightly panicking Kuki who seemed to be very scared and wary of the fact Meicoomon had made herself known, getting Hideo to hide behind her while he seemed quite confused at the current development. Jodie's eyes darted back to Meicoomon who still seemed in a less than happy mood, and despite Kyupimon getting an answer, she wasn't entirely convinced. Calling her enemy food...she was acting just like them.
"Jodie...now we mus--" Suddenly, her thought's were sileneced by the overwhelming force of her tendrils aiming at the Hackmon who looked like he just regret ever hatching. Suddenly all the tendrils shot and now Kyupimon panicked, once she finished with this meal, who would be next? Kyupimon wasn't going to allow this.
"Now." She telepathed, pushing Jodie off the ground as best she could but..it seemed like she did get up on her own. However it wasn't to run. She slowly approached Mae from behind. Kyupimon's eyes widened and quickly begun to tug at her pants but to no avail.
"Mae...please...calm down...please stop?" She whimpered out reaching to pet Mae's head. She wasn't even sure herself about the legitimacy of this but she could tell if she didn't do SOMETHING Mae would be the one losing here. Losing something of herself.
"Stop Mae...That's enough..."
Kyupimon let go of her and looked up at her. Was she really trying this? She didn't understand the severity of this situation...she could really easily die right now.
