How long had it been since he had a week off from work? A couple years at this point right?
The young man stared down at his hands feeling somewhat out of sorts. With how late in the day it was he wasn't really sure what else he could of really done other than go shopping. And the best place for him to do so would be in another section of the city entirely. He could shop there; get the food picked out and have either an uber or taxi take him back home. Sure it was expensive but it also meant that he could just simply have more than instant cook stuff.
But that was a small problem compared to the thing that he was currently fiddling with. A digivice; his digivice of all things. He had met a few individuals that were digitally aware. Individuals that explained some but not all things to him. He had a new roommate that was a digimon of all things; they weren't his digimon but he'd like to think that they were friends at the very least.
The young man sighed and flipped through the settings; he had started to get the hang of what this digivice was actually saying. The language that it used was something akin to Japanese while also being somewhat close to coding. With that in mind he had picked out some books to help him translate; filling in where he could when he could.
Partner Absent Merc 1 Absent Merc 2 Absent Searching for nearest digital entry... LOCATION DATA NOT FOUND. Retrying...
He didn't understand what it meant by the two following his partners. He had asked about them but didn't get much of a response. But every time he selected the digimon that were 'absent' he wouldn't get anything more than a horridly pixelated image and eventually it'd just turn off. So now here he sat alone on this train, three or so stops away from the central station and still two or more hours before he got to his destination if things went all right...
"Where are you...?"

Turns out that errand that Yui had sent her out for was kind of...not able to be done, to say the least. That's why Mao was on a train heading towards the central station. If anything? It was probably better this way. Just going to take a quick detour to the other place to train in using that...dang alien.
Of course, it hadn't ceased nagging her to use the form. Nope. Not at all. Mao's observation of the people in this train seemed to add to her list of weird shit that's happened on a train.
Rather, weird things to see on a train. A guy wearing goggles and a surgical mask, sitting across from her. What the heck? She did not seem to notice that weird device yet, too.

People came and went on the train; people gave him strange looks all the time for the outfits he decided to wear in public. How uncomfortable the youth must of been when dealing with others so much so that he went out of his way to wear things to cover his skin! A few times of course he'd have to show his ID to train attendants and even go so far as to show them his face with a hearty sigh.
They were probably looking for someone of his height but that didn't change the fact.
Lance kept on chugging away at his digivice, blissfully unaware of the individual that was staring at him. Or at least had paid him some kind of mind further than those that had from earlier.
His device gave a strange beeping sound after he thumbed over several of the different buttons trying to see if the damn thing had anything he could use. Quirking a small brow he noted that it distinctly had three instances of something called Holosuits and some kind of scanner. Shrugging a bit he'd thumb over the scanner portion and was just simply greeted with a rather cryptic message in response.
Species: ERROR Level: ERROR Attribute: ERROR Family: ERROR Description: ERROR Moves: ERROR
The youth frowned beneath his mask and shook his head. The beeping stopped just as quickly as it had come but he had to wonder why on earth someone would even need a scanner for this thing anyways. Digimon were simple creatures weren't they? It took a few more moments before Lance set his device down on his leg and took a look around the train.
Oh god he wasn't alone
Something worse? Out of everything it was a young woman looking at him. Probably thinking he was crazy; struggling to even maintain eye contact! Considering he was wearing his goggles this wouldn't be a surprise but he'd give a small but somewhat polite nod to them. After all; thanks to pandora he had a small amount of ability to deal with some individuals even if they were human...

Mao was honestly wondering if this was some crazy guy she wound up in a train car with, but something in his hand started beeping. What.
That...looked like a thing. It looked like her D-Tector but not. Mao's staring was actually sort of interrupted by her noticing the goggle'd guy nodding at her.
SHIT, SHE WAS COMPROMISED.
This could be saved. Certainly. Yes. Most assuredly. Just act natural despite the fact it looks like you're talking to the sketchiest looking person on a train.
"...So, uh...Nice...smartphone...thing."
Holy shit. That could not possibly have been any more weird than it already was. What was she even doing?

Lance blinked a little bit behind his 'masked' visage. The young woman seemed somewhat nervous for some reason? It took him a few moments to actually realize that yes he was the one out of place here and not her. Here he was messing with something he barely understood out in public and when someone treated him differently for it he somewhat mucked it up right?
Rather her reaction wasn't completely unjustified nor was what she said to him. Looking down at his digivice he'd blink a bit and turn it over looking somewhat out of sorts. This was certainly not the type of event he was expecting to occur while riding the train but at the same time he was actively messing with something he should probably keep hidden right?
"Oh. Uh. thank you. Just err... Got it recently? Still trying to figure things out with it."
Lance shifted a little bit looking fairly uncertain sbout all of this still. Just how much should he say about this sort of thing anyways? He somehow doubted that even if he got into the nitty gritty of the stuff he knew of it she would just think him a lunatic or something.
He'd rub the back of his head, still sort of staring at the young woman while occasionally glancing back down at the item in question. What was it called again? He'd sigh and mumble not terribly loudly but certainly would be audible enough for her to hear....
"I think it's brand name is Digivice or something like that. Not really sure."

Mao was...skeptical. "Uh...huh. Yeah. I got something like that too, except it's kinda different." Yep. Totally! Though the brand name was something to call into question.
Digivice.
A catch-all term for the devices that humans in the digital world wielded. Was that right? Maybe. What was more dubious was what Mao was about to do. She pulled out her D-Tector. Purple with a red grip. Similar to Lance's digivice. But. Very different. As was said. "Mine's all weird, honestly."
God, what the heck could you even talk about in a train with someone you don't even know? Anything but THIS SHIT, probably!

"Really? that's... odd."
The young man blinked a little bit and scratched the back of his head. He supposed that everyone would probably have something different in some way or another; no one was the same right? So why should this be any different? He scrunched up his face and leaned to take a look at the purple D-tector. There were similarities but there was quite a few differences he could plainly see.
"It's different than mine, kind of similar but... Does yours do anything? Mine just sort of beeps at me and tells me it can't find my partner. Do you have this sort of problem?"
There was a frown and the young man realized he had done something wrong. After all when you talk to people you were supposed to give them your name right? Or something like that? He wasn't terribly social and even when working at a gas station most people ignored him. But honestly past dave he didn't really interact with most people.
"Oh. Uhm. Right. My name is Lance. Lance Medinn. What about you miss?"
There was a moment and the young man pulled up his goggles staring curiously at the young woman across from him. His rather bright blue eyes taking in the proper colors of the D-tector now that there wasn't a 'orange' hue to everything.
"Looks pretty... interesting to be honest."

...Yeah, this was turning out to be more and more of a familiar but odd situation for Mao. This man was probably not a tamer like she w--.No. No. That's being stupid goddamn it. No. He probably was but he didn't deal with a spirit in his head, did he?
Did her d-tector do anything? "...Nah. Nothing that's not...annoying, per se."
I am necessary. Not annoying. Idiot terrestrial.
Fuck.
Thankfully, Mao had something to focus on. Names. "Kita Mao, nice to meet you." She had been wincing earlier. And this guy thought her D-Tector was interesting...? "...I kinda disagree. Yours says something about a partner, right? It's probably missing a piece of the theoretical puzzle."
Much like you are.
What?
She winced again.

Lance let out a small sigh; this was probably the strangest conversation he had ever partaken in on a train. In fact it was one of the only conversations that he had on a train that he could think of immediately. About something that he knew very little about in the realm of things. But when the Mao said that there wasn't anything annoying that her device did only ended up making him sigh softly.
"Fair enough I suppose."
The young man blinked slightly and gave a slight dip of his head when she introduced herself. Prompting a small frown behind his mask; he'd gaze at her curiously however when the other spoke about how he was missing a piece of the puzzle. Looking down at his device the frown would deepen a little bit and he was brought to the cold sort of fact that perhaps his partner like one individual had said was waiting?
"Oh. Okay. Uhm... Yeah, it's... It goes on about it quite often whenever I try to do stuff on it actually. Just makes me wonder what I'm missing or if I'm doing something wrong?"
The young man blinked and looked up to Mao with that frown vanishing. He wasn't sure really how to address it; but why was their device different than his? His phone had vanished and had been replaced by this thing so maybe... it was something else that had vanished instead?
"Erm, this thing replaced my phone when it first appeared. Did yours do the same or...?"

Replace her phone? Well, that's a funny story... "...It came out of my computer." Mao stated. "As for doing things wrong...Given yours is really different from mine, maybe there's something different that you need to do to get it to quit that. Mine had a thing in it from the getgo so...maybe that's why mine isn't as noisy." Plausible. She didn't need a partner when she had a ghost... "...What have you been trying to do?" She asked.
And then, quite suddenly...A spectral, three-clawed hand suddenly reached out from Mao's back to pull the rest of itself out. It was less gruesome than it may sound, but it was eye-widening for Mao. The Sprite Spirit of the Extraterrestrial had decided to pay a visit, the torso and arms of Vemmon leaning against Mao's shoulder and staring a one-eyed stare at Lance. "The reason the terrestrial's D-Tector does not beep is me. You. Possess D-3. You. Need partner. Without. Device is useless."

So her device came out of a computer? Maybe that's why it seemed a little different. Made for something else. Lance rubbed his chin thoughtfully and nodded as she explained out things. At her question however he'd pause and look back down to the digivice of his. Past talking about it with pandora and trying to fiddle with it he hadn't done much else; he didn't know what else to do honestly.
"Well Past fiddling with it and talking with a digimon I met uhm. Nothing really. I don't know how to deal with this or what comes with it; I'm sort of up a creek without a paddle."
Lance blinked in surprised as a three clawed hand suddenly reached out from the other's back. He froze for a few moments and gripped his device rather hard; he had thought most digimon were the size of your hand! Not... Whatever this was. However rather than address what he figured to be it's tamer it'd address him. Even going so far to stare at him.
"Well.. That makes sense but I sort of.. gathered that I guess? What am I supposed to do to find them?"
The young man sighed and shook his head, scratching at the nape of his neck in uncertainty. He had a long way to go before he found his digimon he felt; in fact he wasn't even sure what on earth his digimon were going to be like now...

To say this was strange was to put it lightly. This both likely looked weird and it sure as heck felt weird for Mao. Some spectral being just popping out of her back and giving a stranger a weird lecture? What the heck?
Mao decided to try adding her own two cents to this. She realized she really couldn't help Lance all that much but she could at least offer a place to start... "...Try looking in Terminus? Or this...Village that my friend here told me about once..." She was hoping he understood these terms.
And surprised she could speak. Vemmon meanwhile had his own thing to add. "Uncertain. This vessel is a spirit wielder. I am but a fragment of a long forgotten time. Knowledge is for you to seek out on your own time. Differences are vast."

Honestly this wasn't the strangest thing that lance had experienced. Sure it was definitely in his top three right behind meeting a fairy in the middle of his shop just before closing time.... No this was the strangest thing as the fairy had turned out to be very friendly and even was currently living in his apartment. The young man frowned however when she suggested to him places to look.
"I don't know what you mean. Terminus? Like the train station? And the closest village to here is like... a least a few hour train ride. Why would they be out that far?"
He had no idea about the digital world; well he knew about it but he didn't know any terminology or any of the locations. In fact he likely wouldn't know until going and that was seeming like a long ways off considering everything.
Then the strange creature that had come out of Mao's back spoke up again. Telling him that she was a spirit wielder. Something else that he didn't know about and something else he didn't understand. He had more questions; more concerns and more things that were confusing to him. He'd rub his head thoughtfully and adjust it so that his goggles slipped down over his eyes so he could think better. The closed sensation always helped him.
"I'm going to have to look into it... though It's going to take a while I think."

"It matters not how long it takes. Simply that it gets done. Only if you do it will you find your answers, Lance Medinn." Vemmon spoke. "The village I told Kita here about is a nursery entitled the Village of Beginnings. It is there where a good deal of babies come from. They are truly vile beings, but they are also often where the partners to tamers arise from."
"...You didn't...tell me that at all." Mao replied, seeming to slowly grow accustomed to this...predicament. "...I think there's a trailmon that can drop you off near there. Maybe. I...don't know. Only reason they'd be out so far is to keep the kids sheltered, I guess." Vemmon nodded, and as abruptly as he had come?
He went, disappearing as though he were never there. Mao exhaled in relief. "...I don't like that guy."
