There were many ways to described the Dark Area; a few were good, and definitely, most were bad. For Amelie, however? Her opinion on the perpetually dull landmass was simple.
Never a freaking idle moment.
The problem reported had been in one of the many annexes that were being built for Deeplane, and while quite simple in approach, the solution definitely wasn't. Their DexDorugamon workers had been repeatedly harassed, reportedly by a band of Champion-level digimon who constantly stole supplies and injured the dragons when they had the opportunity.
One could say it was almost as if they were resisting the city's advance, but why would anyone do that? Considering that Deeplane would become a sanctuary from the Area's harsh life, the reasoning behind doing such a thing was something that baffled the brunette... not to say that it angered her, to an extent.
Right now, one of those situations was happening, Amy arriving to the sight of a Vilemon, a Devimon and a Devidramon engaging in guerrilla tactics with the workers. Her workers.
Least to say, that wouldn't do. And if she had to dirty her hands to prevent that, she would do so, gladly.
Whether Sasha arrived to witness her evolution, the middling stages of the fight or its conclusion, a few things were strikingly obvious; her current location didn't seem like Japan anymore, she'd be surrounded by at least ten DexDorugamons, and she'd witness Heraldmon's form, currently casting down the Devimon while firmly restraining him with its tendrils. It'd take some time for the zombie dragons to pin him down, but once they did, the monstrosity would revert back, its shape becoming Amelie's once again.
That's when the teenager would gaze at the blonde and... shake her head, apparently disappointed with herself. She didn't seem nervous; more like... regretful? "I screwed up, didn't I?" Funnily enough. that remark seemed to be directed at nobody in particular. "Would it be too late if I asked you to forget everything that just happened?"
Well, truthfully... Amy could make that happen really easily. But that'd be plain rude, wouldn't it? At least giving Sasha the choice would make her feel a bit less guilty about it.

When Sasha fell on the other side of the portal landing face first on the ground, the first thing she noticed was how dusty and dirty the floor was. Next was the cold, chilly wind blowing just above her. It was immediatelly clear to her she was no longer inside her bathroom, or any building for that matter. Which she would have almost considered strange were it not for the fact she had gone through a glowing portal in her bathroom not five seconds ago.
Slowly she got up, looking at her surroundings for a moment. She wasn't prepared for what she saw. A barren wasteland spread across every direction into the distance, the sun obscured by dense black clouds. The only other living things in the vecinity were creatures that looked not unlike furry draconic creatures mishmashed with metallic parts, like some sort of twisted cyberpunk nightmare. Not too far on the distance a leather clad demonic looking humanoid fought against a tall hulking...thing that escaped any conceibeable logic description Sasha could have given it.
Some would have probably fainted in the face of such a shocking change in scenery, others might have had the strenght to run away in a panic. Not Sasha, though that didn't meant this was a lot for her to take in in such a short amount of time. When confronted with such a bizarre, unexplainable situation just...froze. Still, unmoving, completely overwhelmed by her every sense that she felt her own legs turn to jelly, the russian blonde falling to her knees once again.
By the time she saw Amelie reverting back into her human form, she was too flabbergasted to even care at this point, rubbing her temples as she could feel a migraine approaching. Her shock was so great it took her a full minute to even hear Amelie talking to her. She gazed up to meet the french girl's face, eyes wide open yet...looking suddenly so tired. She couldn't help but let out a bitter chuckle at Amelie's comment. Forgetting? All of this? It almost sounded like a joke in poor taste.
One couldn't simply forget any of this.
"I don't think I could, even if I wanted to..." Her tone was a far cry of the sardonic, carefree russian girl from a couple minutes ago.
Part of her mind was convinced she had died on her sleep, and was now trapped in some sort of purgatory. Her surroundings certainly seemed hellish enough, so it wasn't all that far fetched of a theory.
"Amelie...who are you? What even are you? And where are we?" These and many more questions sprung up in the blonde's head, but figured those three were the more obvious and pressing of them all.

As the DexDorugamons took their time at carrying the retrained Devimon underground for future torture interrogation, Amelie took a couple of seconds to gaze directly Sasha. Being completely, totally honest; this reaction had been... better than expected? For some reason, the brunette had expected for the blonde to either enter in a fit of panic, or to just break down and cry, or something of the like!
Her being completely and utterly shocked, but still —kinda— in her right mind was something she could deal with. "Well... I mean." Her tone was a bit bashful, but she wasn't losing anything with trying, right? "If you really want to forget, I can give you a hand with that, and you won't remember a thing about what happened. It'll be like that Men in Black thingy, except a bit... slimier."
And would feel like a foreign force was invading your brain and plucking out memories with surgical precision, but that was a detail best left in the basement for now! The offer hung in the air for a pregnant second, and as futile as it potentially was, there was nothing to lose by just saying the words.
But, the teenager's focus diverged from that cryptic offer quickly enough, being face with a flurry of questions that she initially responded with a shrug. "Well... my name's Amelie Saboro. I'm seventeen, currently majoring architecture as my career of choice. Moved to Japan like... a bit over half a year or so, I think? I have a roommate, too." She made a small pause, at least until her expression illuminated with a detail she forgot. "Oh! And I'm single, but looking! That's more or less who I am. I wouldn't consider myself a thing, so the 'what' is unwarranted, I guess."
Was that explanation enough to properly address Sasha's worries? Unlikely, but for Amy it seemed like a solid response! "And... I'm also building a city. The foundations are over there." Her finger pointed at an undetermined spot in the distance; it didn't seem to draw that much attention, mostly because... well, the city was being constructed underground, but those were needless remarks. "Regarding this place? It's a parallel dimension called the Digital World; just imagine it as a fantasy slash sci-fi world comprised of every fandom you can imagine, and then a little more. I could explain how it works, but that'd probably take me a couple days and I don't have nearly enough time for that, so maybe you'd want to ask a more specific question? That'd help."
Maybe that came off as condescending, but it wasn't like the brunette was in the best of her moods, either. The hangover still throbbed in her head like a pneumatic hammer, and that was obviously impacting in her disposition a bit negatively.
Still! She was trying to be patient. That's what counted, right?

The girl blinked a couple times as she looked at Amelie, somewhat taking aback by her offer. Were her memory wiping techniques that good? While the offer was moderately tempting, there was one little tidbit the french girl added that made Sasha shudder to herself a bit. "...did you have to be that specific?" What did she meant by slimier? Was it on the metaphorical way or...the literal way? Did it somehow involved that weird creature that Amelie had been a while ago?
Regardless, she listened intently whilst nodding to the brunette responding to her previous question: telling her who she was, what she did for a living, how she was single (much to Sasha's surprise as she imagined someone as cute as her would probably have at least a boyfriend) and so forth and so on. Most importantly how she was very much not a "thing". Right, even Sasha had to admit instantly assuming Amelie wasn't human was possibly a bit too wild of a possibility...but then again, seeing her current situation, could one really blame her?
"I see...have you ever read those old horror stories about people learning more about the universe than they can handle so they just...snap?" She suddenly would ask, her tone somewhat weary as she said so. Knowing full well this was a rather...odd way of beggining a sentence she continued with her thought, "Well I'm not quite there yet, but this is all a bit much to take in, you know." Digital world, sci fi, building a city...Sasha's head was practically spinning with the amount of information she was receiving, but the worst part is it was all almost starting to make sense.
Had she already snapped? Even if she had, she was still just sane enough to understand Amelie's proposition of trying to explain things to her better. While appreciated, Sasha was at a sheer loss, unsure what to start with.
"Well I guess my most pressing question right now is if there's a way for me to go back home." She asked, considering that the more important question to get out of the way now. Though something else wouldn't leave her memory as much as she tried.
"And uh, no offense but...what was that thing you were just a minute ago?" She asked a bit hesitantly, hoping she wasn't stepping on any toes, and more importantly, that whatever that thing was wouldn't take its anger out on her for daring to ask such a thing. "That's...not your real form, is it?"

Overall, things were going somewhat well, even considering the disastrous situation the teenager had found herself in. Ensuring Sasha's safety for as long as they remained in this place was her responsibility now even if... she had luckily taken care of what was possibly the biggest threat to a human's life by the time the blonde had arrived. In a sense, that was a relief.
Not so much in regards to memory wiping, however! Despite her comments, Amy had begun to lowkey think that Sasha really didn't want to forget what she had seen. Which was... more than fine for her; in all honesty, the brunette wasn't as thrilled to harvest memories, especially when how the Digital World behaved; once seen once, it would always find a way into your life again... for an idefinite under number of times.
Amelie just shrugged. "If it helps anything, you won't remember the slimy sensation once I'm done; you'll probably just be back on your house's kitchen, thinking I already took a cab home after exchanging goodbyes. Yet... I may be delirious, but I think you might be warming up to this place. That was quick, if you ask me!"
The blonde seemed to take her responses in stride, even going as far as to illustrate her current situation. And silently nodded in response to her describing what amounted to a good deal of books written by Lovecraft. "Figured as much. I know it's a lot to take in; knowing that parallel dimensions that defy everything we've been led to believe thus far is always taxing for one's mind, especially you basically got here by accident and got to witness a fight between beings that seemed out of a fantasy book from the get-go. But don't worry; if you don't snap by then, it's just a matter of acclimation."
Luckily for Sasha, going back home was as easy as it got. "Yup, I can leave you back at your home right now, if you want to; I already took care of that group that was harassing my working crews, so... it isn't like I have much to do in here anyway. Just say the word and I'll open a portal back to Shibuya."
Despite her otherwise not-so-good disposition, Amelie couldn't help, but to laugh at the comment that followed. "An aberration being my real form? Now, that would be really entertaining, wouldn't it? Imagine those yakuza wannabes, trying to 'have fun' with me, had that been the case; I doubt that the worst thing that happened would've been one of them being unable to sit anymore, if you ask me!" By that point, she couldn't contain the snicker that followed. "Alas, you're mistaken; what you're looking at right now is 'my true form', and the monster is like a mask I don from time to time. In a sense, it works roughly as if I were an animorph, but instead of animals... I get to turn into what you've just seen. Regarding what it is, however? Well... I gotta say that I don't entirely understand it, either. Like you just said, I feel like my mind would sooner give in than entirely wrap around what being in that form means. Ain't that neat?"
Not the most reassuring answer, but being honest was important, right?

"Thanks for the reassuring honesty? I still rather no sliminess, if at all possible, not too big into that." She insisted, shuddering just a bit at the reminder of the sliminess. Just what would that entail? Ah well, for once ignorance was a bliss, as they said. "Well, either I'm getting used to it, or a part of my brain still wants to believe this is just a weird reflux induced dream.""You saying it like it's an every day occurrence." She snickered, somewhat relaxed now thanks to Amelie's rather nonchalant attitude toward their whole situation. Either she was used to it by now...or she had snapped a long time ago. Maybe both, even, but she wasn't one to judge: if Amelie wanted to sacrifice her to some sort of demonic god, she would have probably done so last night. At the very least, she took the theory of being an eldritch being in disguise as a human girl in stride. Thankfully. "Hey, can you really blame me for it? It wouldn't be the weirdest thing to happen to me today." She forced a smile, a pained expression coming over her as a piercing pain throbbed inside her. "...guh, my head..." she complained, rubbing her temples slowly. Now she felt like the one about to have a hangover. Stupid poetic irony. "Look, I know I'm being a nosy dumbass...but, why are you building a city? Or at least, why here? And for who?" She asked, almost regretting doing so immediatelly after however. Was she asking too much? Clearly Amelie wasn't in the best of moods but...she just had to know more. She didn't know why, but morbid sense of curiosity seemed to want to push ahead, keep digging and digging. See how much information she could handle without snapping. That said, the idea of returning home seemed like the best course of action. She suddenly felt awfully tired, and she wouldn't mind passing out right there and there and sleep a day or two. "I think its for the best yeah. Do the...the thingy you did in my bathroom." Her cheeks went rosy for a moment, as she loudly coughed and stammered, realizing how she was sounding. "G-god that came out badly, you know what I mean. Are you...coming back with me or-" Her trail of thought suddenly stopped however, as in an unconsious movement she put her hands in her pocket, except...her right hand came in contact with something cold and plastic. With a confused noise, she reached out further into the compartment, grabbing a hold of the square object. She brought it close to her face, inspecting it closely. A black pedometer like gadget was between her hands, its golden grip and buttons contrasting brightly with the dark plastic. The screen was mostly blank, saved for a small, glowing arrow pointing to the northen most edge of said screen. "Say, is this yours? I don't think I've ever seen this thing in my life."

For somebody who looked like a rather tough girl, Amy thought that Sasha was definitely a tad too scared of just a little slimy! However, her choice was hers and it wasn't like Amelie was going violate somebody's mind without their consent, at least most of the time, anyway.
The brunette would've shrugged again, but would be too repetitive. "Suit yourself then. In all honesty, getting used to this place isn't that hard, but most people tend to overreact on their first outing; I'm sure you'll come to like this place as soon as you get to warm up to it. It can be really cozy at times!"
Said with a straight face while they were amid a desolated wasteland and Sasha had seen her fight monsters while she was an aberration herself. Was that hypocritical? Maybe! That didn't prevent her expression from becoming slightly more serious right after that statement, though. "But I can assure you that this isn't a dream. I can pinch you or something if you wanna."
It wasn't like Amelie would miss the opportunity to pinch anybody's cheeks, honestly! Even so, she had to admit that the blonde was right in one of her remarks. "It kinda is an every day occurrence, though? You just saw how easily I could open a portal to a parallel dimension on your very bathroom and exit on a whim, that means I can do that pretty much whenever I please, you know? I'm usually not as sloppy, but this was a bit of an emergency, and I frankly thought you'd be smarter than to go near the shimmering ring of translocation, if you ask me."
Amy smirked both at her own remark and at Sasha thinking she was some sort of eldritch abomination donning the disguise of a normal human being. Could you imagine it? As unplausible as that scenario was, it was still somewhat entertaining for the brunette to imagine what kind of faceless horror would be as crafty and vile to decide to don a human's appearance. And what purpose would a being doing that would hope to accomplish? While an entertaining though, the fact that was pretty much impossible ensured that it would be short-lived.
"Don't worry." She replied, thoughtfully. "Spend enough time in this place and all the things you think are 'weird' right now will become varying degrees of commonplace. One could almost say that's the Digital World's special ability."
For sure, that image would've been way funnier if it weren't for a sudden migraine the blonde experienced. Truthfully, this wasn't the best place to discuss Amelie's own ideals regarding the construction of Deeplane. "This is probably better explained over a cup of tea and with a clear mind rather than just standing here while we're not at our best, but... I'll try to roughly explain it." She made a pause, trying a suitable parallelism. "In the Digital World, this place is called the 'Dark Area'. Ever been to Brussels? You could say that the Dark Area is to the Digital World what the Matongé quarter was to Brussels, back when the situation over there was really, really bad; now imagine that when it's in regards to fantastic slash sci-fi monsters and hundreds of years instead of Congolese immigrants and a handful of decades. I'm looking to fix that because this place deserves better than that; anyone does, really."
Undoubtedly, human problems and disputes weren't alien to digimon. Just like the former, the latter had their own hierarchy and were capable of both nobility and being despicable. Which was a pity, mostly given that the issues of this world were way more deep-rooted in ideological reasons, rather than practical ones. Said and done, it was for the best to just go back, even though Amelie didn't understand Sasha's last remark all that well. "I mean, since I don't know exactly where your house is, the safe thing to do is getting to mine, then you finding your way to yours; sorry, kind of an unplanned contingency!"
That also implicitly meant the pair was coming back together. No way for the brunette to leave somebody she just met alone in her apartment, after all! Fiddling a bit with her digivice, an exact copy of the portal in the bathroom spawning just ahead of the two girls. Before the taller of the duo could enter, however, she noticed her peers device, her eyes widening a bit at the sight of it, then a small smile graced her feature. "Nope, mine's here." She brought out an identical device. "It's the thing that lets me transform into an aberration, by the way. So, congratulations! Now you'll be able to turn into a digimon too, even though I hope yours don't get to be as pretty as mine."
Being unable to avoid snickering at her own remark, the brunette gestured at the portal with the palm of her hand. "Ladies first. I'll be right behind you."

"Nah thanks, I rather hold on to that slowly dissipating hope just for a bit longer, even if I know you'd love to pinch these cheeks." She teased, rolling her eyes a bit at the thought. Was Amelie thinking such a thing? Probably not, but it was more than obvious to her that you could never tell such things just by appearances.
The russian blonde huffed, as it was clear the french brunette seemed to be blaming Sasha for having followed her, as if curiosity was such an easy thing to repress.
"Look, you could have easily gotten out of my appartment and then open that portalthingamagic and I would have been none the wiser...eh just forget it." She said, throwing her arms up in defeat. She could either start bickering now, or she could get some actual answers to her questions and a way out. Those were fairly more pressing matters right now. Like making sense of her ensuing explanation!
Matongé? While she understood the gist of her simile, she found it a rather...oddly specific example. Had she been there when she was younger? Did she have relatives there? Why Brussels of all places?
"So like...the Dark Area's filled with gangs and people from all over that are fighting eachother?" She pondered, trying to be sure she had understood correctly, before chuckling a bit. "Sounds like the perfect place to settle down in and build a city." She quipped, hands on hips as she took another long look at their surroundings. They said home was where the heart is, but even she had a hard time believing anyone wanted to make this wasteland their home, at least willingly. Then again...she knew as well as anyone nobody got to pick where they were born, and not everyone got to choose where to live afterwards.
Perhaps she could even begin to learn what made this place so alluring to Amelie...or that's what she thought, but her companion had other plans, as it was evidenced by her soon opening another portal. Leave? Now? Admitedly, she had been the first one to say she wanted to get back to the..."real" world? Human world? And what was this about her little device letting her transform into digimon?! Once again, there were just too many variables to take in right now. Whatever the case, it was probably wiser to retreat now and perhaps come back later with some newly adquired knowledge. With a longing look and a sigh she pocketed the D-Scanner back on her pocket, before turning to look at Amelie.
"With pleasure."
Unbeknown to Sasha, the small glowing dot she had seen on the edge of the screen was now moving, slowly, surely closing in the distance with them, but even if she knew of it and knew where to look, she would see little else than a small dust cloud. Even someone like Amelie would see little else than a faint, vague silhouette drifting about on the corner of her eye, if even that. Whatever this weak disturbance was, it seemed to make a beeline for Sasha's location.
Though when both came in contact, Sasha only felt a cold, chilly breath of air gently blowing on her back. It was barely enough to give her goosebumps, but she didn't pay much mind to that. Probably just the wind.
At any rate she'd be now stepping into the portal, silently praying in her mind that Amelie wouldn't just dump her in the middle of a desert or a mountain in order to keep her life a secret or something equally as roundabout as that. What she would find on the other side? Only Amelie knew.

A moment of silence ensued, where Amelie lamented a number of shattered hopes and dreams.
"Darn. I really wanted to." She finally replied, her tone on the teasing side of the scale. Well... that was something that would need to happen later! Or never, depending on if Sasha would come back to this world or not. It was an interesting tree of possibilities, and watching it as they unfolded would be rather interesting!
For now, however, they were more important things to do than to just think about the possibilities. Like, for example, letting out a small giggle at the mere suggestion of her opening a portal anywhere else than where she had. That had been... ridiculous, in all honesty.
"Put the portal... where? Right outside your apartment? Inside the elevator? On the stairs, maybe? Or just by the exit of the building? Because each idea sounds worse than the last, one, if you ask me! I think that your bathroom was the smarter choice." At least that much was probably out of question. Had that been shortsighted? Yes, but it had also been correct, given how urgent was the situation at hand.
Not to say, the end result hadn't been that bad. Or that the choice mattered all that much, now that everything regarding it had been said and done. Her motives seemed to be the center of the conversation now, as strange as that was. It wasn't like she would complain, though. The smirk on her face showed the opposite.
"In rough terms, yeah. That's more or less it." She nodded. "But you know that kinda stuff has an origin, right? The inhabitants of this world haven't chosen to be violent because they like to be violent. It's because most of them have just been pushed to the limit. I think that this place can be so much better if somebody gives it a genuine chance. Just like what happened there, you know? That's why I'm doing what I'm doing."
Ultimately, that was everything they have to do for today. At least... hopefully; in all honesty? That was a relief. The hangover-powered migraines threatened to rear their ugly heads at any moment from now, and anything that was less stressful and/or tiresome than fighting enemies on a parallel world would probably be a good way to keep those away. At least to an extent.
Before getting in, she sensed something... weird in the air; too quick and too sudden to catch, but probably harmless. It disappeared as quickly as it made its presence known, so it was probably not important enough to pay attention to it.
And... maybe she was giving it too much thought? Seconds after Sasha, Amelie stepped into the portal. [Exit]
