Desmond was surprised that the little pink Digimon knew what a Digivice was or that they were humans. Well, it was close to the Terminal so he must have seen many humans or tamers even coming from the terminal. That could be the reason why. He didn't say anything though, he wanted him to maybe tell them more about the strange device. Well, more about Sam's. The tall human looked up to the tree to see if there were any more Digimon ready to attack them. The water on his glasses did not help at all but he could only see the leaves moving so maybe, just maybe, they were alone now.
The blond tamer did, however, stayed close to Sam and be ready to grab that Poromon if he were to do something, anything, to the girl. Desmond wasn't someone that would hold grudges, he just didn't trust the Poromon. At least for now. To be honest, Desmond did not like the Poromon. Not only because he attacked him just seconds ago but he was kind of a jerk imposing himself to become Sam's partner. But he did not do anything to harm her so far. It would take him a few more seconds to lower his guard.
Meanwhile, his partner was almost completely covered in the fog and was holding on to Desmond hoping that he would pick him off the ground. But that didn't happen, not right away. He could recall meeting DemiMeramon at about the same time that he got his Digivice. But maybe it was just a coincidence. Poromon could well be her partner. The blond tamer wasn't sure how to feel right now but he did not trust that Poromon
His partner began tugging on his pants to get his attention. "Desmond." He shyly said. This time, the tamer looked down. "I'm scared." That was enough for the Frenchman to take the fireball into his arms. The DemiMeramon did not like the thick fog and the rain, not one bit. Seeing the Poromon burying his face didn't make Desmond feel any better about the bird Digimon. He wasn't jealous but the DemiMeramon was a bit sad that he wasn't going to be her partner anymore. The Digimon looked down at the fog and noticed that Desmond's jacket was still on the ground, barely visible. "Desmond." He whispered. The blond tamer looked down as well. "Your jacket is on the ground." Again, whispering. It would take the human a few seconds before crouching down to pick it. It was now damp so he wasn't going to put it on. He crouched down once more and put his partner on the ground for a moment to attach the sleeves around his waist before picking up the Digimon again.
"Do you have a name?" Desmond then asked after seeing the mischievous smile from the Poromon. His voice might have came out as a bit rude. He knew that the DemiMeramon didn't know the names of the different Digimon. In fact, he had a hard time saying some of them from times on times. "I'm DemiMeramon!" The fireball then shouted while waving his arms. Well, it seemed that his partner wasn't going to hold on grudges as well. "This is Desmond!" And he pointed at the human. "And this is Sam!" This time he pointed at the shy girl. "She smells better than Desmond!"

Desmond was looking as carefully as he could while still trying to not be staring like a sociopath at the Poromon. The blond tamer was about to say something when Sam began speaking. Or mumble something that sounded like words. It looks like she has given him a nickname to make it easier. The DemiMeramon that was still in his tamer's arms looked up and saw how serious his expression was. He did not like Hawk but was trying to accept it seeing that Sam seemed to be okay with the bird Digimon. "Psst." Desmond didn't even look down even if he did hear his partner trying to get his attention. "Desmond." He then said a bit louder. "Hmm?" The blond tamer,s eyes were still fixated on Hawk. "I think he's trying to help Sam." The human was genuinely surprised to hear that from his partner. "What do you mean?" He asked very softly. "He seems friendly." Desmond sighed and took a deep breath. Might as well give him a chance, if only to make Sam feel better.
"I can still be your partner, Sam! You will have two of them!" He said joyfully, a total contrast of Sam's saddened look. "Right, Desmond?" To this, the Frenchman nodded. "I don't see any reasons why she can't have two partners." He said with a smile. "Besides, not to offend Hawk but I think that you might need our help for a bit longer. At least until you feel more confident about yourself. I'm sure that none of us want to leave you like that. You have us friends for that." And he paused to look at the Digimon. "Right, DemiMeramon?" The fireball nodded and reached out to hug Sam's face before she could look up at Desmond but she could have easily avoided the hug if she would just move an inch away from the Digimon.
"Hawk is right." Desmond than said with a bit of hesitation. "You do look a bit fragile..." He wasn't sure if he should have said it that way, it didn't sound very polite. "DemiMeramon and I, and also Hawk, will be at your side. If you don't mind having us two around of course." And the blond tamer paused for a second and shivered a bit. "Oh and no need to apologize. Again, we are friends now, not strangers." Again with a smile on both his face and also on DemiMeramon's face. A very wide one too. Desmond looked at his partner and then back to Sam. "Yeah, let's get back inside the terminal." He then said before looking up at the tree. The little DemiMeramon was now trying to hide in Desmond's clothing. Good thing that the blond tamer had three layers on him, well two now without the jacket. Fortunately for him, His torso wasn't that damp yet.
"Unless Hawk got a better place for us to stay warm and away from that rain and fog." He was pretty sure that the Poromon was brighter than he looked like, even if he was a bit rude toward them. "I can barely see with that water on my glasses anyway." Good thing that Hawk was a bright pink ball of feathers. It was a bit blurry but he could easily follow him if he doesn't go away too fast. Desmond then moved his partner so that he would be held with one arm and extended the other one toward Sam. "Ready to go?"

Desmond was happy that Sam took on his offer and wrapped her arm around his. He was wondering if that would make Hawk jealous but to be fair, he didn't care much about the bird Digimon. He just wanted Sam to feel safe but he wasn't so sure that it was working because he looked away. Because of that, the blond tamer did not smile but did keep an eye on her to see if she would look at him sooner or later. He just walked in silence and also tripped but quickly managed to not fall. That would have been awkward. He tried to make it look like nothing happened by taking a longer step before walking normally. He didn't look at either of them hoping that no one would say anything. And especially Hawk. It didn't take long for them to reach in the terminal and go inside. By now, Desmond was pretty much drenched in rainwater. He let go of the DemiMeramon, who was completely dry because he is literally a ball of fire but kept his other arm wrapped around Sam's. The Digimon landed on the floor, well he was still floating above the ground. Passing a hand in his hair, the Frenchman looked at Sam and smiled shyly. "I guess we can stay here for now." He said before looking at Hawk. "I'm sure that it is much better than under that tree." It wasn't directed at the Digimon, he just happened to look at him at that moment. "Desmond!" The DemiMeramon shouted his name. "Desmond!" He shouted once more. "Uh?" The fireball quickly floated toward one of the vending machines. "Can I have more chocolate?" He asked with puppy eyes. Desmond sighed, he did say that he would give him another one. "You didn't say the magic word." "Please?" He said timidly. To this, Desmond smiled and let go of Sam's arm. "Good, I'll get you one. Ask Sam if she wants something." The DemiMeramon got closer to the girl and began waving his arms to get her full attention. "Do you want chocolate as well?" He asked with a large smile making the blond tamer laugh. "Good boy." He said before crouching down to give him a pat on the head. "Hungry?" The Frenchman then asked both Sam and Hawk as he stood up. "There's chocolate. Pretty sure there are other things as well." Hearing the word chocolate made the DemiMeramon jump into the air and then hug his tamer's leg. "Chocolate!"
Desmond laughed once more. "Don't worry about the price, I got plenty of it." By it, he meant Bits. "Come." He then gestured to the shy girl. "Take a look by yourself and pick one, or two." He didn't mind it at all. He was actually hoping that she might open up a bit if she were to choose something to eat. Food brings people together, that was something he heard when he was a little lad. "You too can pick something, Hawk." Desmond would wait for Sam to began moving before moving as well. "I'm just going to buy the biggest bar of chocolate for DemiMeramon." "Whee! Chocolate!"

Desmond was happy to let them pick their choice of snacks before looking for something for himself. He hesitated for a few seconds before taking the same one Sam chosen. He passed his Digivice in front of the panel and the chocolate bars fell down for them to pick it up. He would carefully take DemiMeramon's bar and carefully remove the wrapper before giving it to the Digimon. "Now eat it before it melts, okay?" To this, the fireball nodded and opened his mouth to bite a big chunk of it and then smile broadly. "Yummy!" He then proceeded to follow Sam and Hawk to the bench and wave his arms to Desmond so that he could pick him up and put him on the bench. The blond tamer did so and then sat down next to the girl and clean his glasses with the shirt underneath his other one. It was all dry but dry enough to wipe the water off the glasses. He was about to put his glasses back on when he heard Hawk complimenting her eyes. The blond tamer quickly leaned toward her face, maybe way too close for comfort, and looked closely at her features.
He couldn't see very well due to not putting his glasses on but he could tell that she was actually very pretty when she isn't hiding underneath that long brown hair. "You do have nice eyes, Sam." He then said with a smile. He then noticed that her cheeks turned into a shade of red. It was now that Desmond realized how close his face was to hers since he didn't put his glasses on yet, like a creep. His cheeks turned pink and he moved his head away from hers with a swift movement. "Oh, sorry..." He mumbled putting his wrapped chocolate into his face instead of his glasses that was in his other hand. He felt incredibly stupid. Good thing that his partner was too busy eating the chocolate to notice that he just did that. Hawk and Sam might have seen it though.
Desmond began unwrapping his chocolate bar in an awkward silence for a few seconds. "Erm... Good to be inside huh?" He wanted to compliment her again but he felt bad seeing her that red. He wasn't very good with the ladies but it seemed that she wasn't too good with the men either. He took a deep breath and then turned his head to look at her and saw how cute she is. "You know, you shouldn't hide your face with your hair..." He was half mumbling there. "I mean, your face is very cute now that I can see it clearly..." And he awkwardly smiled at her. "Not that the rest of you isn't cute..." He wasn't what he was saying right now. "Erm..." And he took a deep breath again. A man of his age should be able to tell someone that they are pretty without feeling too awkward. "I think that you are pretty, Sam." He looked away for a second to hide that he too was pretty red now.
"Sam is cute!" The DemiMeramon then shouted with a mouthful of chocolate. He jumped on her lap and looked up at her eyes. "Pretty!" And he jumped off her lap and back into the bench while taking another bite. Desmond just laughed softly and was now looking at the horizon but it was clear that he was shy about what he just said. And he also felt that he may have made her feel a bit shy as well. Even if she were kind of already shy few seconds before that.
"What brought me here?" He then repeated after her. "Erm..." He wasn't sure anymore. All he could think of was how awkward of a situation he was in. "I think we were..." He had no clue right now so he just slowly turned his head to look at the DemiMeramon. "What we were doing here?" He asked him but the Digimon just shrugged and continued munching. Desmond took a moment to think, or at least tried to. Was he going home? Maybe he did but now that he met Sam, maybe he should make an excuse to stay with her a bit longer. He really didn't want to leave the girl here without any warning. And even if he could, he wouldn't because he wasn't the kind of guy that just do that.
"I think we were just getting something to eat..." Desmond slowly said as he looked at Sam. "I mean, maybe we were just taking shelter from the rain?" That wasn't supposed to be a question. It was clear that he wasn't really all there. "How about you?" The blond tamer asked after a few more seconds of just looking at her face. "What brought you in here today?"

Desmond wasn't sure how to feel in his current situation. He really meant it when he said that she was pretty but by the sound of her voice, she did not like it. He tried to figure if he did, or say, something that he shouldn't have. So he just looked at his feet for a second trying to think of something to say. He eyed his partner that was almost done eating. The DemiMeramon was always honest. So when he said that Sam was pretty, he truly meant it. But he was a child and Desmond was a much older man. Maybe she didn't like him giving her a compliment because he was old? He wasn't sure how old Sam is but she didn't seem to be older or the same age as himself. He thought that maybe he could apologize. But then, he wasn't sure what he would be apologizing for. He sighed heavily and then looked at her once more. "You know, when I said that your eyes are beautiful, I really meant it." His cheeks were still pink. "Even Hawk and DemiMeramon said so. It must be true if we all think that."
He then took a deep breath and smiled. "I erm... I mean..." He stopped himself there. He wanted to tell her to not feel like he was trying to take advantage of her. Sure, she was pretty and all that but she was so shy and it reminded him of how he was about a month ago. "Desmond." The fireball poked at his tamer with melted chocolate around his mouth. "I ran out of chocolate." The blond tamer sighed, he knew that his partner wanted his bar. He took one bite of it and gave the rest to the Digimon who began glowing brighter. "Thank you!" He said loudly before going for a hug. Desmond gave him a pat on the head and then spoke. "That's the last one for today." He was using his fatherly voice. The DemiMeramon nodded very quickly before taking a bite.
After telling him that, Desmond turned his attention back to Sam. This time, he stood silent and just looked at her face for a moment, maybe for too long. She was a pretty girl. He knew that she would be even more if she was smiling but he didn't know what to say to make her smile. So he just stared at her from where he was. Which could be translated to awkwardly creepy stare. And he did not realize it for a few long seconds. He blinked twice and looked away shyly with his cheeks now red. "Sorry..." He apologized for looking at her for that long. Surely it made the situation even more awkward. "I... Think that you look better with your hair like that." Again, he was trying to not sound creepy. "I mean... You have a pretty face, maybe you shouldn't hide it so much..." And he looked away after saying this.
Crossing his arms, Desmond would then just look down. He felt he made a fool of himself and made Sam uncomfortable. His people skills weren't very good to begin with and he felt that every word that came out from his mouth made the situation worse. He tried hard to think of something to say to salvage this moment but he couldn't come up with anything. The blond tamer passed his left hand in his wet hair and looked at Hawk that sat between the two tamers. "So, are you going back home?" He said after another moment of silence of looking at Hawk. "I think you just need to take that train back and you'll be home in no time." He had no clue if that was true or not but if she came from one of those train Digimon, surely she could go back the same way.
"No idea when is the next train though." The terminal was strangely empty and quiet right now. "Mind if I... I mean we..." He stopped for a second and smiled awkwardly. "Stay with you? Just until the next train?"

Before Hawk's digivolution into his rookie form, Desmond actually saw Sam lifting her hand toward his from the corner of his eyes. He wasn't sure if it was to grab his hand but he did notice that she tried to move it. He too began moving his hand closer to hers and then Hawk got bigger and Desmond had to inch away from the now larger Digimon. He had to admit that he was a bit sad that her partner was very protective of hers. Surely, he didn't mean to be rude. Or maybe he just really didn't like Desmond at all. The blond tamer wasn't sure what he did to make him act that way toward him. So he just looked at the Hawkmon giving him a mischievous smile and sighed. He was about to say something when Sam began speaking. Hesitation, that is what he thought he heard. Maybe he wasn't the only one that wanted her to stay here, just for a little while. "Well, you don't..."
And then Hawk said that she cannot stay. Desmond was about to say she could make a decision of her own but the Hawkmon quickly took her toward another bench. The blond tamer sighed and kept looking at the girl looking back at him. He should do something, clearly, she didn't agree with her partner. But he didn't know what to do. He felt that he would be imposing himself if he were to follow them. So he just looked down at the floor and fell defeated. It was then that his partner began poking him. "Desmond." The small DemiMeramon began speaking while still poking him. "Huh?" He thought that the Digimon would ask him for more chocolate. "Why is Sam going away?" He asked with his head tilted on one side. "She erm..." He wasn't going to say that she wanted to go away because he knew that she didn't. "Can we go tell her goodbye?"
Actually, that did sound like a good reason to go talk to her, just to say goodbye. Taking a deep breath, Desmond gave his partner a pat on the head and stood up. "Yes, let's go talk to her." He didn't specify that it was to tell her goodbye because he wasn't going to do that. He was going to confront Hawk, either if he liked it or not. "Come, DemiMeramon." And with that, the fireball floated down from the bench and began following his tamer that was now very determined to go see the shy girl and Hawk. The Frenchman was trying to find the right words to say but he just couldn't think of anything. He will have to improvise.
It didn't take long for them to walk to the bench. Desmond stood tall in front of Sam and her partner. "Hawk." He tried to sound like he was in control of the situation. "I think that you should let Sam make her own decision." He said firmly. To this, the DemiMeramon nodded and went to hide behind his tamer. He thought that his tamer was just going to say goodbye and wasn't ready for this. "If she wants to stay, she will stay. With us." He said those two last words very clearly. He would stay there for a second before taking a deep breath. He was ready for whatever Hawk was about to do or say. He wasn't going to let him decide for his tamer, not like that.
And then, Desmond extended a hand toward Sam and smiled. "Mind if I sit down with you?"

Desmond kept smiling when he saw Hawk got off the bench. And then jab him in the leg. For someone that small, he does hit hard. The blond tamer grimaced for a second before taking a deep breath. His partner, the DemiMeramon looked at Hawk and Desmond and back in forth rapidly not knowing what to do. He sure didn't expect Hawk asking him to explore the terminal so he was kind of confused there. Seeing that the fireball had a hard time figuring what to do, the Frenchman crouched down. "I need you to keep an eye on him, okay?" Again, the Digimon went back to looking at the both of them. "Can you do that for me?" And then, his eyes lit up. He was giving a mission and boy, was he happy to have this one. "Yes!" He then shouted very loudly. "If you see anything dangerous, you come back here immediately." His partner nodded and went to hug Desmond. "Alright, go now." And with that, the DemiMeramon waved goodbye to both tamers and proceeded to follow Hawk.
The blond tamer would wait for a bit longer looking at the two Digimon before sighing and sit down next to Sam. "Yeah, don't worry, I'm fine." And he then stayed silent for a second. "No need to apologize. It wasn't your fault." While he did not see Hawk as a bully, well, he was kind of. The Digimon kept making decisions for the poor girl. And then another moment of silence. Desmond was trying to think of something to say to make a bit more comfortable but couldn't. He then heard her mumble some words that didn't exactly understood. He turned his head to face the girl if she was even facing him, to begin with. He managed to hear the three last words she said though. It was very easy that she wasn't comfortable at all.
Desmond looked at her and then her hands. It would take him a few more seconds of staring at her hands before doing something. He slowly moved his hand and very gently, place it on her hands. His face was red. He wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do and deeply hoped that she wasn't going to freak out. The blond tamer was still looking their hands before looking up to see her pretty face. But Sam was looking down at their hands so she wasn't technically looking at him. Taking another deep breath, Desmond took all the courage he had in him at that moment and moved his free hand. He slowly moved it to touch Sam's chin and as slow as he could, gently lift it so that he could see her eyes.
And now, he knew that it could go either way. She could think that Desmond was just trying to take advantage of her shyness but that wasn't true. He was never been good or lucky with the ladies and it was easy to see. The tamer just looked at her before lowering his hand that was touching her face but did not say anything at all. He was lost in her beautiful eyes and just couldn't muster the courage to say anything anymore. Right now, his cheeks were very, very red. He wasn't sure what to do next. What could he say right now?
"I..." He was whispering softly. "Sam..." His eyes were still glued on hers. "Sam, I..." And another deep breath. "Would you like to stay, with me? Just a bit longer." Sam could very well remove his hand and look away but Desmond hoped that she wouldn't. It felt, good being next to her. Even if it was a bit awkward. Maybe more than a bit.

Desmond felt Sam's grabbing his hands and he couldn't help but look briefly. Her hand was warm, like his. The blond tamer didn't want to squeeze it too hard so just gently tried to interlace his finger around hers. It was a feeling that was new to him but he liked it. Every second of it. It a simple gesture but it was at that moment that he felt that all the awkwardness came off his shoulders. To be fair though, maybe not all of it. For him, the terminus was now silent. All he could hear was her breathing and his chest beating like a drum. He lifted his head once more and then froze as he felt Sam's hand on his cheek. He did not expect her to do so. But he was glad that she did. His face must be pretty warm by now, most likely as much as hers. His hands moved a bit to touch her cheek as she did to him.
And then, she went closer to him and Desmond. His eyes widening for second and his jaw dropped slightly. Was she going for a kiss? Part of him wanted to lean away but he didn't he just froze once more and waited for the kiss with eyes closed. That never happened. The blond tamer opened his eyes and saw that Sam was back to her initial positon. Desmond closed his mouth and mentally sighed. He could have gone closer as well. But he didn't and he was now very confused on what he was feeling. They didn't know each other. It was just a girl and a boy on a bench, next to each other. That thought made him blush more. No, it was more than just a girl and a boy. It was Sam and him.
Desmond stayed silent for a second to think. His mind was clouded by one thing though. Well, not a thing but rather a person, Sam. What he was about to do could go either way. Taking a deep breath, the hand was on her cheeks lowered back to her chin and turn her face to face him. His eyes were sparkling at that moment. He stayed silent with his face as red as it ever could. Everything but her face was blurry. He then looked down to see their hands and then look at her eyes once more. A moment ago, he could hear her breathing and now, maybe she could hear his.
"What it is like?" He softly repeated. The Frenchman bit his lower lip and took a deep breath. He then waited a bit longer just looking at her beautiful eyes. He inched closer to her face and his hand let go of hers and both hands were now on her cheeks. It was awkward, and maybe a bit crazy but right now, he couldn't care less about all that. All he wanted was...
Desmond leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on her lips. "It is something like this."
