"I don't know if I should be worried, surprised or amazed that I'm no longer in one."
Kan sighed a little bit and stared at Cassandra. He'd softly shiver at her touch, more out of surprise than anything. The... gentle nature of the touch was something that he wasn't expecting even from someone he could consider a friend. The man himself was fairly touch starved, for most of his life in fact. But he tried to deal with that innate desire to move into it. That brushing sensation didn't make it easy, the twitching of that scar made his hand come up to rub at his face. on the opposing side.
"I hope so. Maybe I'll get some actual decent sleep."
The man let out a soft chuckle, leaning slightly to help the doctor in a way to peel off those damages. The scars were many, and with them interlacing as they did with the previous burn scars on his arms it was a wonder he was moving as well as he did. The lightning scar was jagged and went down the entire length of his back, from the top of his neck all the way down to the bottom of his spine. The fracturing thankfully had been repaired as it was most immediate. He still wasn't used to the touch, he wasn't used to much honestly. Though he managed at this point to sort of just sit quietly while she checked him over.
"On the bright side going to the beach is going to be entertaining..."

"I've been looking into a private beach to go to one of these days when I can ever get a day off. You're welcome to join me as..." Cas trailed off swallowing the lump of discomfort that choked the words in her throat. "As your partner saw I am perhaps not the most...pleasant to look at beneath my holosuit." The Doctor explained deciding to remove the rest of the bandages for the moment to get the mostly healed wounds a chance to air out.
"You'll need to sleep on your stomach for a few days if you are able. Now that you can move a little you need to keep the irritation to the burns and scars on your back as minimal as possible." She explained glancing towards the tired Spirit.
"I'm sure you and Snyder however will have plenty to discuss to keep the pair of you busy. I'm afraid I can't have you wandering the base unless you want to join my team on a permanent basis, but if you need anything you've only need to call." Cas added resting a hand lightly on Kan's shoulder a minor gesture that lacked warmth or feeling on her part with the sensation of touch robbed from her, but was hopefully comforting to the man in the midst of the chaos and change he was undergoing.

"...A private beach does sound nice."
The man paused a little bit as he heard her trail off, picking back up obvious discomfort in her voice. He was grateful for her help and honestly he wasn't sure what to say to that. To most yes they would think her a monster, an abomination. Something that was ugly and... well would make them scream and run away. But to kan it was just... It reminded him so much of the digital world in a weird way. To some you could say it was enthralling in a sense.
There was so much he could say so much he would say; but honestly words were failing him. He wanted to support his friend but they evaded him and made his silence feel rather bitter. Biting on his lower lip the man exhaled a little bit. Trying to find those words as supportive as he could be
"I won't lie Cas, I don't know how you look now. But the last time I did did it phase me? No. And I doubt it would now. So you can be as honest with me as you want, as brutal about that as you want. But regardless that's not something I'll break on my knee so to speak. It's okay to let it go if you need to."
The man let out a loose chuckle and simply nodded at the idea of sleeping on his stomach. Honestly he felt like he probably could pass out if he put his head to a proper bed and pillow. He'd have to probably buy a few things to help with the irritation he'd be getting from wearing clothes and such... as well as buying new clothing to fit his form a touch better.
"I'll make a note of it when I get back to my bed. Going to probably have to buy new sheets at some point too..."
The man blinked a little bit and looked down at his hands at the idea of wandering the base. He wasn't sure if he even wanted to at this point, he felt sore, tired and a bit out of sorts. He'd close his eyes a little bit and sigh softly.
"Considering how I feel, I feel like Snyder is going to take a nap in my digivice. Do you have any newspapers from whitewater or the like? If not that's fine but keeping an eye on the news would be help... ful..."
Kan trailed off a bit as he felt that hand rest on his shoulder. He'd stop talking and simply sit there for a few long moments, gently. Slowly would he reach up and place his hand above hers for a few fleeting moments before placing his hands back onto his sheets with a sigh.
"After Vexus, After hearing about all those other teams... I don't know if I could join another. I don't even think I'm in the position to really give anything to a group. Mechanic, Engineer or otherwise."
"Says the man who seems to have a library worth of knowledge in his bloody head. I'm going to sleep before I even try to peek at that blasted mess."
Snyder grumbled and did exactly what Kan guessed he would do. Hopp into his digivice and pass the hell out. Which left Kan to that silence in his head again. Which left him to his own thoughts, in his own mind. That he was so used to being cluttered with voices. Was only sitting with his own.
"...How bad is the scarring anyways? Not that I'm really worried about it considering the state of my arms but... It's sort of good to know."

"It's worse then the last time you saw me. Much worse." The Doctor murmured softly with a small wince as she drew back from the man. "While I'm certain you'd handle my appearance amicably there are people who would...would hunt me. If they knew I existed. You spirit is already dead and not the sharpest tool in the shed even if he means well, but you're alive and breathing and I don't wish to risk you without warning you first." Cassandra explained lifting a hand to run it roughly over her face as she sighed. Exhaustion wrought into every syllable of each sentence.
"The most others have seen are glimpses, but I'm afraid I'm the sort that gets a little more terrifying the longer you look at me." The Woman added with a rough shake of her head.
"I won't however, lie to you. The scarring is bad. You'll need to keep them flexible as they heal or else they'll limit your movement in human form and I expect you'll never be an acrobat. However, with enough work at it you should be decent at dodging and not restricted. You'll likely be a bit clumsy for a while as well as you get used to your new height." Cas explained motioning to how Kan even sitting up in the bed was almost a head taller then the little Doctor.

"I see. That's... frustrating to hear honestly. You don't deserve that. Yeah I sort of got that vibe from when I heard him talk. Wait... what do you mean? Help me understand, show me if you have to. As someone who's... dealt with death coming up to his door more often than he'd like I think I'll be okay."
Kan furrowed his brow a little bit as she explained out further. He'd reach out to grasp at one of her hands, giving it a firm somewhat supportive squeeze with his hand before letting go after a moment or two if she didn't move away from him.
"...I see. That doesn't change what I said though."
The man set his jaw a little bit and tilted his head slightly as she explained that his scarring was bad and that he'd have to keep them flexible. Feeling clumsy? That his movement would be limited for a while? He'd look down at his hands again frowning quietly. The scars on his arms spoke a lot about how he had to deal with this sort of thing, but it was a wider range of areas this time. If it wasn't for snyder...
"Not a surprise considering the intensity of the scars and the range of them. I'll see if I still have those old handbooks about treatments and such... should still be in my storage at... 'home'."
The man lathered the latter-most word with quite a lot of venom. He didn't really percieve the place he set outside of whitewater as home, it didn't feel right and he didn't know what to do with it half the time. There was a few moments and he'd pause looking over at her.
"...New Height? Are you saying I got even... taller?"

"Broader yes, perhaps a bit taller. Either way you were slimmer before, but you've filled out into a heavier build from what I can see likely a side-effect of the massive data-bleed you suffered before. Either way you'll likely be unused to your body once you get up and start moving around. I would suggest taking it easy. I have some books on scar treatment here if you'd like to read them. I'd like to keep you for at least three more days of observation to ensure nothing goes critically wrong with your recovery." The Doctor explained and offered recognizing the venom for what it was and hardly wishing to send the man to a place that held bad memories. Still his offer had...touched her. Leaving Cas frowning as she rubbed her hand where he'd held it as she tried to imagine what the warmth of the gesture might feel like. The memories of touch growing more distant with each passing day only broken by brief isolated stints to bathe and care for her own wounds and never with any company or contact.
"You have to promise not to scream and I can't remove my EV suit. It acts as a...as a biohazard suit for myself. I don't know how badly or if I'm infectious. We just know my case is...it's terminal. Sooner or later it will kill me or kill what's left of me that's human. We just don't know when." Cas spoke her words whisper soft as she reached to deactivate her holosuit once more only to hesitate.
"I'd also appreciate it if you didn't look as though you were going to throw up, but I'll understand." The Doctor added remembering all too vividly the revulsion on the girls face back in the desert and the fear on Isaacs's.

"I suppose that makes sense considering what I've been through in the last few weeks. We'll see how bad it is when I start moving, who knows I might get lucky and snyder could of taken care of that too."
He'd add with a brief chuckle shaking his head a little bit. It was more of a jest as he wasn't expecting his spirit to of fixed everything just the more processing matters at hand. He'd dip his head in a nod at the mention of the scar treatment, taking it easy and having him stay for at least three days.
"If they're that readily available yes. I'll probably stick in bed for a good portion of time while doing movement tests; don't want to get back on my feet without understanding the gangly limbs. Recovery going smoothly would be nice."
Kan would frown as she told him that he had to promise not to scream. What did she take him for? Wait... She couldn't remove her Ev suit? His brow deepened and he'd tilt his head quietly as she explained that her case was terminal and would kill her or kill what was left of her human half. That sounded like data bleed on an extreme level.
"I won't scream. I'm not like that. So it's just a matter of time? That explains some. Not exactly words you want to hear from a friend either but no point in hiding the truth. And Trust me I won't, I'd say surprise is more likely."
The man sighed a little bit and shook his head once more. It was frustrating hearing that Cas had a case of some form that was terminal. He couldn't help at this point even if he wanted to past offering comfort and just being about.
He'd exhale softly rubbing the back of his neck as the thought of him going out in public turned sour. Most digimon and humans weren't used to seeing someone so scarred... Would he have to hide more than just his arms? His face even?
"Whenever you're ready Cas."

"It's complicated." Cas murmured pulling her long abandoned chair up to Kan's bedside before settling down into it with a tired sigh. For a moment the Doctor just closed her eyes and breathed, cupping her face in her hands elbows resting on her knees back bent with the weight of her own exhaustion. Until she finally shook herself and straighten with a look of solemn resolve before switching off the holosuit.
Kan was met first by a piercing crimson and red glowing gaze, the Doctor's sclera nearly black grey from the bio-metal's spread to her eyes. While her lab coat hid the worst of her arms Kan could detect the metalic glint of metal from what little could be seen of her left hand, the fingers of both appendages currently wrapped in bandages. Nothing however hid the strange smooth almost chitin like silvery grey black metal that had overtaken the marks on her cheeks, filling in the spots where Kan would likely remember little scars dotting the Doctor's face. Seeming to heal over her flesh where wounds new and old had once been having fully taken over the woman's recovery process.
Slowly the Doctor tried to offer Kan a tired smile showing of neat white and very sharp teeth though her canines were flatter almost human nubs marred with rough marks the man might momentarily recognize as scars from a file before Cas dropped the expression for something more solemn and true to her current temperament. Having realized that smiling likely only made her more creepy to look upon.
"So..." The Doctor began voice rough with emotion. "This is me."

Kan gave a brief nod as Cas told him it was complicated. He didn't rush her and simply sat there, he wanted to reach out, wanted to support her in some fashion where he could see the frustration mounting. However when she straightened up a bit he could see that resolve. Then came the holosuit switching off.
That piercing gaze of glowing red enthralled him for a few moments. He could see the doctor's sclera barely past that. There was a few moments where he spent looking along her face. Finding those spots that had been small scars at first only to be filled in by some silvery grey metal. More and more inspection found more metal, more bandages. Metallic glints and this almost chitin looking bits on her face? It was something that made his jaw drop ever so slightly, a mix of concern and curiosity quite clear on his face.
A few moments of dubious blinking at that smile, he felt his shoulders sag a little bit and he'd reach out slowly. Firmly and place a single hand on the woman's shoulder; giving it a tight squeeze after a few long moments.
"I didn't... Even know. I should of asked earlier, should of talked to you earlier. But... There was no real way of me knowing. No way of me really doing so without intruding. But I'm here now. Just. Talk to me. Tell me what you need to; what you want to."

"I should be the one asking you these questions. You are the one that was in a coma for a week, just got a new spirit, and found out about your injuries..." The Doctor murmured jaw tight and shame briefly flickering through her eyes as she glanced at Kan's hand where it rested on her shoulder. She could feel the weight of it bearing down on her EV suit. Solid pressure the only sensation. She hadn't even told her team yet the extent of her...issues. Though it was clear from the way the strange organic like metal merged with her flesh, more part of it then the disjointed pieces that were the hallmarks of data-bleed that this was something far different. Far worse.
"When we first met I had a fifteen percent discrepancy with my dna due to being spliced with an armor evolution mid portal jump when the portal apparatus became damaged and infected with the D-virus resulting in it's malfunction.Even though technically the data was spliced into my dna making it a bit more complicated then a normal data-bleed I had hope that my condition could be...repaired. I isolated that ten percent of the discrepancy was the result of Baalmon data..." Cas explained before trailing off crimson glowing eyes shifting to stare at the wall as she gave a low shudder her gaze going distant.
"The other five percent was D-reaper. Which is why Doctor Mikemon could never lower my infection rate beyond a certain percent. I was producing the D-virus in my bloodstream in addition to my original infection. Though as you can see my condition has...has progressed." She added voice halting and mechanical as she tried to explain. Tried to make sense of it all.

"And a lot of it I've sang the merry tune of before, I've changed partners at least five times at this point. Though the injuries and coma are... new. I'll adjust."
The man followed her eye line to where his hand was, there was a brief frown as he could see that shame. He didn't know the extent of the EV's suit lack of touch but with the way she was looking at it well... He had to do some piecing but he was sure she wasn't reacting in the same manner as some would expect.
Then she explained out how she came to be here; what had happened to her. His eyes widened a little bit and he brought his hand to his chin rubbing at it thoughtfully. Furrowing his brow he'd consider the information that she presented and everything that came with it.
This was hurtful to cas, something that others would yes indeed take advantage of if they knew the full story but... Kan wasn't like that. Not anymore, nor would he ever be like that again.
"Splicing with a digimon, adding the D-virus in there... I don't know enough about the D-virus to really understand what that means but... That doesn't sound good, that's where the terminal portion comes from doesn't it? I've never heard of a case of someone having a failing portal activation splicing them with a digimon. But maybe that's because the cases are so limited that they aren't exactly popping up all over the place..."
There was a few moments and a look of sadness spread across his face. He was going to lose a friend in the long run, it wasn't something that they could avoid. It wasn't something that could be stopped, it would happen eventually. Likely when none were ready; but perhaps a small part of her was okay with that. If she wasn't she'd fight against this even more bitterly as time progressed.
But it didn't stop what he did next, he'd reach out. With both arms and encircle the Doctor in a somewhat protective hug. There wasn't much strength in it consider that he had been laying in a coma for a week and had just 'recovered' for the most part but the message as silent as it was would be simple.
I'm still your friend, I'm here for you, I won't leave you to deal with this on your own if I can.

"That was unfortunately only the beginning." Cas explained with a sigh as she raked her bandaged fingertips through the barely constrained wild mane of blonde hair she'd wrangled into a low ponytail. Mussing the locks even further in the process.
"I encountered an expedition under assault in the Northern Prominence and rescued one of their members. They were searching for one of the effigies. When we found it...The D-reaper tried to take over me. Tried to force me to destroy the statue and when I resisted..." The Doctor trailed off stiffening in surprise to find herself suddenly wrapped in Kan's arms. The man pulling her close to his chest the pressure firm, but not crushing as Cas remained helpless and at a loss for what to do. Slowly, so incredibly slowly her shoulders loosed, her head bowing as she rested her chin on the Spirit User's shoulders as a fine tremble wracked her form.
"It tortured me Kan." She murmured breath hitching as a soft muffled sob tore itself from the Woman's throat. "I couldn't let it win and I knew it was going to break me. It did break me in a way. I wanted to die so badly in the end." Cas whispered the glow of her eyes seeming to soften as crimson tinted tears cut trails down her cheeks to stain and dampened the pristine white collar of her jacket.
"Ironically it was..it was also the D-reaper that saved me though I doubt it was intentional." Cas spoke voice halting as she tried to control her breathing. To cease the way her voice hitched with each pained and silent sob that ripped through her form. Her arms coming to slowly wrap around Kan's torso careful of his own wounds as her bandaged fingers took hold of him clinging to his solid presence like a life line.

Kan blinked in abject surprise when Cassandra said that there was more to this tale than just what she told him a little bit ago. Honestly how much suffering did this woman have to go through before whomever ran things thought it was enough? She explained further and he felt that silence permeate; he didn't know what to say to that. He knew how it felt to have something fight against you but... not like that. Nothing like that.
He simply held her, trying to be supportive. What could he say to something like that? The fine tremble that followed suit only made him squeeze a little harder for a brief moment. That sob made him grit his teeth in a soft amount of anger, just how much did she need to suffer?
"I can't imagine that to of been easy to deal with any regard. I'm glad you didn't die, even if you did break. But that's what friends are for. To help you pick up the pieces, help you try to get things right. Even if we can't fix it. We'll figure something out."
He felt her return that hug, he wasn't sure how to really respond to that. But he'd sigh softly after a few long moments. He'd shift his arm to gently wipe away those tears if he could. He would be there for his friend, the best way he could. Providing the paltry amount of support that he could.
"Even if it wasn't intentional don't you think you should be proud of your ability to fight against that? To fight against something like that, to even break. You didn't give up. How many people can say the same?"
