A night in the woods (Ayumi)

It's been a couple of days now that Eleonora meet her digimon partners, two gears known as "Gurren" and "Lagann" due to their actual names (or serial numbers) were kinda hard to pronounce, Hagurumon and Solarmon have inside of them something known as X-Antibody which supposedly make them stronger yet due to the fact that there core is split in half with each having one half that power boost is not active aside from the physical changes they had compared to normal Hagurumon and Solarmon.
The trio currently was exploring the digital world, starting in places more calm than going head first into the more dangerous zones like the Dark Area, this time they were around the server woods a place that she wanted to visit as soon as she knew about it, she has never been on a forest before, her dad promise her several times to go camping but sadly due to work he never make it and this might be the good oportunity and who knows maybe the gear in their weird almost infinite data-banks know a thing or two about camping.
There were a lot of small blob like digimon around the trees, it surprises her how many different shapes and colors this creatures can have, makes her wonder who and how is she going to recruit for her "army" come to think of it, the gears where a little vague about the whole Xros General thing, well nothing that they can solve tonight.
"OK, this seems like a good place to stay!" Said Leo after finding a nice lake behind some bushes, it looked like the perfect time to start their camping site.
"Our data says that after finding a spot we should build the tent"
"We don't have one of those... I pack a sleeping bag tho"
"That will do, after all we do not need to sleep, next step is setting the camp fire, let us take care of that"
The twins went to the same bushes they come and using their drills cut some branches and leaves after piling them Solarmon open it mouth and send a small beam igniting them, things seems to be going nice and sound a wonderful night awaits the german girl and her partners

The woods at night! A terrifying prospect to most people, but to Ayumi, it was full of fascinating research opportunities! Some lifeforms only come out at night, and plants act differently, too! Was the Digital World obeying these rules, too? It would be fascinating to know!
So, the girl and her dragon wandered through the woods, Ayumi taking notes while Solomon carried a backpack full of tools, gadgets and supplies.
"I am surprised that your desire to research allows you to overcome the instinctive aversion of humans towards the dark."
Ayumi looked up from her notepad, a LED light attached to a headband shining into Solomon's face. She grinned.
"Hey, humans are smart, we can overcome our instincts! We're not just animals!"
She laughed...and immediately yipped and jumped into Solomon's arms when she heard the drilling sounds nearby. If Solomon was capable of facial expressions, he'd be smirking now.
"Not just animals, huh?"
Ayumi blushed.
"Ah, sh-sh-shuddup! L-l-let's see what made those sounds!"
And so, the two approached the sounds, and soon emerged from the underbrush near Eleonora!

With the fireplace set the trio kept going through what the gears knew about preparation of a camp site, it was a nice practice because if things go the way she wants, Eleonora will spend a lot of time in the digital world and will camp a lot, although this time she can enjoy it.
"So... What can you guys tell me about this place?" Ask Eleonora to their partners as she started unpacking some minor things
"Searching for data about "Server Woods"...
"A thick forest zone that the deeper one gets the hard it is for the light of the sun to pass the leaves of the tall trees" Hagurumon X started
"There are also rumors about a ghost that will guide innocent fools to the deepest part and no one will ever hear about them" Solarmon X finish
Ghost huh? That was interesting to say the least, Eleonora wasn't the kind of person that believe on thos things but in the digital world you can't be sure about anything, this creatures were fantastic and interesting, she would love to learn a lot more about them but sadly if you ask an explanation to the twins get ready for a looooooooong and confusing one, something moving behind the bushes put on alert both gears who jump in front of Leo and started spinning their drills getting ready for whoever jumps from those bushes.
Fortunately it was just a girl and her partner digimon, they didn't seem dangerous at least, as soon as Eleonora saw them she call out the twins to relax and "abort their battle routine" She really needs to work that part, wonder if it would be easy to reprogram them.
"Hi There! Sorry for the drills pointing at you, these two take their job as guardians a little too serious" The german girl apologise to Ayumi. "My name is Eleonora by the way, my friends here are Gurren the Hagurumon X and Lagann the Solarmon X, as a peace sign would you guys like to stay a little? I have marshmallows" She said inviting the tamer and digimon to join them

Oh, it seems the noise came from a human! A Tamer, too! With two partners!....partners that seemed intend on drilling into them! Solomon assumed a battle stance...and quickly stopped when the woman assured them that there was no need to be worried.
"Ah, uh, h-hello Miss Eleonora. I am Ayumi! Nice to meet you! This is my partner, Solomon!"
The Monodramon put down his tamer, and then bowed.
"It is an honour to meet you, madam."
His voice was robotic and synthetic, and remained so even as he looked up and his eyes began to sparkle at the mentioning of marshmallows.
"Marshmallows? Do not mind if I do."
He quickly sat down by the fire. Ayumi followed behind shortly.
"So, what are you doing out here, Miss Leonora?"

Miss? Madame? Was really all the people in this world this kind of polite? Nothing wrong with that , on the contrary it was very nice to have that as a trait, but Eleonora wasn't use to that kind of treatment, if anything she prefer things be more casual.
"Hi there Ayumi,Nice to meet you too Solomon" the german girl greeted both "And please no need to be so formal, just call me Leo"
She find it a little odd the robotic monotone voice comming from the little dragon, almost like if he was like her two partners, while Leo was still new to the digital world the german girl knows that digimon have a more normal not robotic at all voice, she thought that was a trait share only for digimons like her gears.
"Name: Monodramon

"A brawl Loving digimon that participate in most fights to the point is well known for it's tenacity and will, it is also said that the horn in his back is a weak point but there isn't enough information to confirm that"
Both gears speaked sharing the info they had in their data banks about that species, Leo could only facepalm to that... Why would they do that? It just seems weird and kinda rude to spill an info dump about something you know about a person just by hear it, specially when you just met that person.
"I'm sorry, Gurren and Lagann act pretty much as robots and as such they just love to analyze whoever they met and see if it's on their data-banks, I have to work in that.." She said and give the bag of marshmallows to Solomon as an apology. "And we are just camping, I got pretty recent to the digital world and decided to explore and all that, thought camping was going to be an interesting idea and will give me some time to get to know this two"

"Ah, alright, Miss Leo!"
Ayumi bowed. Solomon just sat down by the fire. He listened to the information the two gears gave off, and just chuckled mechanically.
"Ah, fret not, I have seen worse. Their information does not fit me, however."
He quickly turned back when Marshmallows were offered to him.
"Oh, do not mind if I do."
He then grabbed a stick, put about 5 marshmallows on it, and then held them over the fire.
Ayumi, meanwhile, knelt down by the two Gear Digimon.
"Ah, you three are new here? That's cool! Feels like ages ago when I had my first trip to the Digital World! It's such an amazing and fascinating place! And your two partners seem to know a lot about it already!"

"Miss" Leo... Oh well it was an improvement, guess it's a japanese trait to be polite, again not a bad trait at all but for some one that's use to a more casual, in anycase Eleonora was more than happy to see that Solomon wasn't mad about the comments made by her partners, still that voice was a little off coming from the small dragon she really wanted to ask but that can be rude.
"We apologise for our comments, we know that not are digimons are equal so the description might not fit to you but it's all we know about Monodramon as a species"
"We gladly accept any more information you can provide to keep our database updated"
Both gears talk, meanwhile Leo was focus on Ayumi, the girl said that it felt like ages since her first visit to this world, maybe she could help her a little with the things the twins couldn't explain.
"Yeah it's our second time here on the digital world, well at least mine these two have been here for a while and I am not their first general" She commented imitating Solomon and sticking a couple of marshmallows near the fire. "And while they know a lot about the digital world, they still lack on the things I want to know like Xros Evolution or they actually hide information from me" She gave a look at both gears
"As we mentioned before, we are deeply sorry that we are not able to reveal the information you want right now"
"Once the first milestone that is recruiting a new member and conquering X2 evolution is achived, then we will share a part of the confidential information we have"
Eleonora rolled her eyes she had hear that enough times to try and make it her first priority but again she doesn't know how to be a Xros General and the gears doesn't have much information about it, she then focus on Ayumi that knelt close to the two X digimon.
"They are interesting, right? I don't know how a normal Hagurumon and Solarmon look like but I can't deny that Gurren and Lagann have an interesting design although simple" She chuckle. "By the way, if you want to ask them something be my guest, just have pen and paper they tend to ramble a little too much"

Solomon stuck the stick into how mouth, pulling off all marshmallows at once and ate them with an expression of utter nothingness on his face. The monotone sounds he made at least *evoked* delight. When the two gears inquired about him, she swallowed, and thought.
"I, personally, consider myself a calm and gallant individual. I avoid combat, but if it is not unavoidable I try to fight with honor."
As for Ayumi, she listened intently to Leo's explanation. The more new concepts turned up in it, the more her eyes began to sparkle with sheer excitement. When Leo had finished the girl immediately pulled a notebook from her backpack.
"X-Ros Evolution? General? Alternative forms? These are all news to me! Oh I've *got* to learn more! You two can tell -me- cant you??"

Leo gave a soft chuckle seeing the Monodramon eating the five marshmallows in one bite, digimon sure have big stomachs, Solomon's personality didn't seem so different from the other digimon she knew, gallant, chivalrious and honor before all interesting traits again going against what she expected from the little dragon, at least Royland was a knight so it made sense that attitude of him. "Here, have more Solomon, don't be shy I brought a lot of mashmallows for this little trip" Said the german girl, she then look at Ayumi that seemed extra excited to learn about the things she just mention. "Well... Long story short I'm a Xros General, like you I have a digimon partner or in this case two, I'm suppose to go recruiting digimon to my cause and with their help Gurren and Lagann will be able to achieve new forms of evolution since they can't evolve the normal way" Eleonora pulled her Xros Loader from one of her pockets  "For the rest I'll let Gurren and Lagann explain"The gears where happy to be able to explain this again, their information might be little theylove to share what they know, they both look at Ayumi seeing the excitement on the girl's eyes already make them smile, they wait until Ayumi was ready to write down what they were going to say and then started. "In short we once were one digimon, but due to some problems when the X-Antibody was inserted into us our core end up splitting and forming the froms you are seeing""The damage in our core also affected our capability to evolve in a normal way, yet a new program was loaded letting us achieve what is known as Xros Evolution""With the help of the Xros Loader and more partners in our group we can achieve new evolutionary forms by fusing with them, yet this is a different process than the more well known Jogress/DNA evolution""Main difference being that Xros Evolution requiere more selective components and they have to be registered in the Xros General's Xros Loader, also Xros Evolution the powerful it gets the more components require the most basic being X2 requiring only two digimon""The strongest requires 7 or more components, antoher big difference is that by using Xros Evolution there is no risk to end up with a fatal error like Chaosmon""Did you get that or you want them to repeat, it took me a copuple of explanations to understand" Eleonora giggled, Ayumi seemed smart so surely she must've understood without problems |

Solomon looked at the bag of Marshmallows with a sparkle in his eyes.
"Oh, do not mind if I do."
He reached in, pulled out six more and roasted them over the fire before eating them all. He put a hand to his cheek as he chewed, and blushed. His facial expression or tone of voice did not chance in the slightest, but he still appeared to be utterly delighted.
As for Ayumi, she nodded, and marveled at the Xros Loader.
"Wow! -Recruiting- Digimon? That's a new approach! That sounds a lot more noble and a lot more like hard work than just finding a partner or spirit! Please let me sketch it later!"
She then listened intently to the two gears. Her hand was a blur as she noted down everything they said. She didn't even look at what she was writing, she just hung on their nonexistent lips and nodded.
"Wow, I've heard of the X-Antibody before, but one Digimon becoming new is new to me! And the number of components makes the XRos stronger? I always thought fusion only works between two Digimon! Though technically a jogressed Digimon could then jogress further, so it does make sense..."
She tapped the end of her pen against her chin, thinking.
"Regardless! Thank you so much for all this info! Your situation sounds fascinating! If you don't mind I'd invite you over to the library to run some tests on you!"

It was interesting to see Solomon acting and speaking, as of now Eleonora has not met more digimon aside her partners and a couple of Tamers, yet there seem to be a certain way most digimon act her two gears and the Spadamon came to mind, Gurren and Lagann were pretty much robotic, acting by logic and spilling info dumps and analyzing everything, the Spadamon was a knight and acted chivalrous and honorable, so the German girl was under the assumption that digimon acted as they form mandated, but seeing Solomon makes her think that she was wrong, interesting.
"So, random question but I always like to hear the answer, how you two met?" She asked to Solomon, again by her experience is the human that falls and the mon choses you, but who knows? She was wrong before and it's always nice to know how this unbreakable bond was created.
The excitment of the girl for all the informations the gears have really put a smile on their faces, their general was still really new to the digital world so the thing they can explain to her are a little hard to understand for the blonde, having some one that can follow their explanation was a good change of pace.
"There are several differences between Jogress and Xros Evolution, both are fusions yes, but the work behind them is different, to put it simple a Jogress is the union of two or more digicores to create a new one, if the cores are not compatible they will not completely fuse and a bug known as Chaosmon will be the end result"
"A Xross evolution on the other hand is two or more digimons combining their strength, sometimes a new form is achieved and sometimes one digimon ends as armor or weapon for the other, to put an example one of the many test done to us and the Xros Evolution involved crossing us with a Greymon, the end result was a MetalGreymon as we just add the metal armor in the evolution"
"Sadly we were not fully compatible with Greymon and the evolution didn't last, another example would be that by Jogress WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon you will always get Omegamon, but by doing a DigXros it is uncertain if the digimon created will be Omegamon"
Eleonora tried her best to listen to what they were saying but once they started their explanation on the differences she was lost, better let those two enjoy their new friend, she can be happy eating marshmallows with Solomon!

Solomon stopped reaching into the Marshmallow bag when he was asked how he and Ayumi met. He put a finger to his chin.
"Ah, that was in Terminus City. I had recently had a run in with some...unpleasant company, which returned me to a Digitama. I was promptly thrown into the garbage, and would have remained buried there if Ayumi had not dug me out with her own bare hands. She had been drawn towards me, by the bond that a human and their partner share, even before they formally meet. Ayumi still claims it can be explained scientifically...but not everything has a scientific explanation."
Meanwhile, Ayumi was still scribbling away, listening intently. As she scribbled, she underlined the word "Chaosmon" multiple times.
"Ah, so it's less true fusion, and more a reassembly of parts into a new whole! Less Fertilization, more akin to Mutualism between two distinct entities! Fascinating! That where are Digivolution ways so different from the main method...
She promptly turned the page and began to idly doodle how she imagined an XRos between an Angewomon and a Megadramon would look.

Eleonora let a chuckle out after listening to Solomon’s story, doesn’t sound too different from how she met their partners, one thing she didn’t understand was the digi-tama part that’s a thing she’ll ask the gears later, another thing that call her attention was him saying that not everything has a scientific explanation.
“Not so different from my meeting with those two, I fell from the bridge directly to the Shibuya river, I tried to swim but it was like something was pulling me down and not soon after I lost consciousness, when I woke up the twins come up and scan me agreeing that I was a perfect match to be their general” The memories are still fresh after all it wasn’t so long ago “And I agree, not everything has a scientific explanation, I’m not a strong believer in fate or coincidences but sometimes those are the better explanations”
The twins couldn’t be more happy to see that Ayumi understood every single word they said, they look at Ayumi’s notes and how she underline the word “Chaosmon” and then the doodle about Angewomon and Megadramon fusion.
“Are you really interested in the different methods of evolution?”
“You mention a library and test, are you some kind of researcher?”

Solomon nodded.
"I have heard the tales of the Shibuya River. How it spirits people away to the Digital World. I am glad Ayumi did not fall into it. It's full of sewage, and Ayumi cannot swim."
He stuffed another marshmallow into his mouth and chewed.
"It is quite lucky the two found you before a hostile Digimon did. Your bond must have been strong from the start."
Ayumi smiled and nodded at the questions from the gears.
"Yeah, Digivolution interests me, as does any other thing about the Digital World! This place is so full of mystery and things to investigate!
And yes, I am a researcher! I am the Head Researcher of the Digital Field Club, a club devoted to researching the Digital World in every detail! The Great Moving Library is our base, a huge mobile science complex on the outskirts of Terminus City!"
Ayumi was still bursting with enthusiasm!

Eleonora nodded towards the comment of Solomon, the Shibuya River wasn't the most clean place and for her experience falling there even if you're a skillful swimmer if it wants to bring you to the digital world it'll take you to the deepest part as fast as possible.
"Trust me, it's not a nice experience, I won't say I'm a professional swimmer but I do know how to swim and that think just kept pulling me down, it was like I had an anchor tied to my feets, it was horrible" The German girl added "I don't know much about our bond yet, if anything I ran away the first time I saw them, I was on an alien place full of weird creatures my first instinct was to run, luckilly a man and his partner approach me and explain me everything" She was lucky to be found by Kazuya and Royland on that moment
The two gears nodded to Ayumi's explanation, she was a researcher that center on many things about the digital world not only evolution, that was interesting humans can be really curious creatures and that curiosity can take them far on the search of knowledge that's something really admirable, but one question remain on the twins.
"We love to hear more about your research and is results"
"We also would like to know what would you do with that knowledge, we were experiments too but the reason of our creation and experimentation came from a darker place rather than just pure knowledge"
"We have no doubts that you are on the side of using the knowledge you gather for good, but still we would like to know what is your final goal"
