Kazuya continued to carefully watch the battle, the golden eyed man knew immediately the move Roy was going for. It was usually a very strong and deadly move, but the spadamon is a very experienced warrior he knew what he was doing and Kazuya trusted that in him. But the thing Kazuya had his eyes upon the most was Levi, the man wanted to know how the Veemon will react to Roy's speed and strength, the two aspect that make Roy so terrifying, its the fact that this move combines those two aspects that makes it very strong despite it's simplicity.
As things happened to fast Kazuya looked at Levi's reaction, a jump eh ? Well if he was just a little bit faster, he might have been able to dodge it. But alas that was not the case, Royland managed to land the hit on Levi's leg. The blow was so strong that Kazuya winced alongside Alan, Kazuya almost thought that Royland went just a touch overboard. But then again he was not the expert, Royland was so he will leave him to do what he is doing. "Man, I honestly thought Levi would not do this good. But I gotta say, he is very impressive. If this is his first battle then I do not doubt that he will continue to grow and become a very strong digimon one day." Kazuya remarked placing a hand on Alan's shoulder, giving the blonde kid a smile to reassure him.
Royland however was calm, cool and collected. To him the whole sequence of his attack, to Levi's attempted jump happened as if it was playing in slow-motion. To the point of Roy thinking that Levi was going to be successful in his dodge and started to think of his future steps, but none of that was needed since his attack landed. Royland knew that it must have heart despite the fact that the attack was intentionally weakened, but he remembered the words of his old teacher. And wanted Levi to know how that the path of a warrior will be filled with pain, fighting for justice was not something anyone can do but it is a path well worth taking for multiple reasons, but he had to prepare Levi for future battles.
Royland then walked up to Levi who was on the ground, Royland had this cold and dead look on his face. Perhaps he was trying to act like a villain in this scenario, but whatever he was thinking Roy's stare made his steps heavier with each step he is taking. His sword hand was relaxed up until he reached Levi, "Well this is it, battle over." Royland said as he pointed his sword over his downed opponent, this act confused Kazuya. But Roy's face was dead serious, he was not joking when he said that this portion of the battle was over.
The tiny spadamon then bursted out in laughter, his face was similar to a jolly man with no worries. He pointed the sword away, and offered Levi a hand to help him get up. "But man that was super fun, you were simply awesome Levi. I almost want to call you a liar for saying you are new at this, but I noticed some mistakes. But let's take five, I have somethings to say to you and Alan first. "He said with a big bright smile on his face, Royland felt a bit nostalgic when training with Levi...that made him simply so happy. But he is not doing this out of selfishness he wants to help these two new comers.

Alan turned his head up to look at Kazuya, but he was too worried about Levi to focus too hard on what was being said to him, so all he managed was to smile back at the man, offer a quiet "yeah," and immediately turn to put his eyes back on Levi, remaining completely silent, and lightly sucking his lips in as he looked on in concern.
Levi had been hoping that that was the end, that Royland would offer him his hand and help him get into a more comfortable position. But Royland wasn't doing that.
Before the fight started, Levi pondered how he would approach the spar. He had no idea how easy or hard Royland would go on him. Perhaps he would be given a slow start, and learn step by step. Or perhaps he would be cut no slack, taught the harsh realities of battle, thrashed time and time again whilst approaching the day he could hold his own. Levi decided he wouldn't wait to see which one it was. He would treat the fight as if it was the latter, and give it his all, not daring to consider his opponent might pull any punches. So when the Spadamon approached him, blade in hand, feigning an intention to "finish the job," Levi wasted no time being afraid, feeling betrayed, or feeling confused. Nor did he use logic to attempt to call his bluff. Instead, he stared back with a defiant smirk, waiting for the moment when Royland would strike. Although he couldn't get up, he decided he would roll at that moment. Yes, he would roll towards Royland, and then he'd bite his legs. It was barbaric for his tastes, and he doubted he'd enjoy doing it, but it was his only hope. He couldn't escape without the use of his legs, so his only hope was to use what he had to go on the offensive.
Fortunately, Levi was waiting for Royland to strike, which he did not. Rather, the knightly digimon began to laugh. Levi stared at this occurrence, his face slowly shifting as his gut tagged his mind in at the controls to his body. Eventually, it hit him that of course his mentor was not about to off him. He remembered his determined expression as he had faced the "bastard" that would attempt such a move, and assumed that that was what Royland was laughing at.
"O...oh... you were joking. O-Of course. Right," the Veemon said with a quiet, wavering voice.
Convinced he had just embarrassed himself, he slumped completely to the ground, blushed brightly, turned his head to the side, and... began to cry quietly. He wanted to accept Royland's compliments, but that just wasn't what was on his mind. He didn't accept Royland's offer to help him up, and tried to stand up on his own, but the pain in his leg disallowed him from letting it support any weight, so he hit the ground again with a light thud. Why was he suddenly so upset? And why was it Royland's joke that had upset him? He had been holding himself together just fine during the fight itself. Could it be that the fight was taking an emotional toll on him after all, and rather than keeping his composure like he thought he was doing, he was merely postponing and forcing his negative emotions to build up?
"Levi!"
Recognizing the fight was over, Alan pushed himself up from his sitting position and rushed over to his partner. He turned on the Clinic Program on his digivice, and it slowly but surely began to soothe the pain in Levi's leg. Royland's strike hadn't caused and injury as far as he could tell, so before long he was at least able to sit Levi up. The boy sat cross-legged on the ground to be closer to eye level with the two digimon. The moment Levi found he could stand, he leapt into Alan's arms to sob into his shoulder, his tail dropping down onto Alan's leg. Alan patted the Veemon's upper back, assuring him,
"You were amazing, Levi."
Levi almost moved. He wanted to deliver a standard "thank you," but his throat wouldn't give him the voice for it quite yet. Alan remembered he was wearing two hats and removed Levi's ivy cap from under his own, then fit it onto Levi's head, adjusted it, and pat it a few times. This seemed to relax him a bit. The telltale sharp spasms that accompanied crying were slowing nearly to a stop, and the small dragon's was rested, almost completely at peace, when to Alan's surprise, Levi lifted his own head up, none too pleased at keeping himself awake. He rubbed his eyes and looked at Royland.
"I'm... so sorry... you... needed to talk...?"
"Levi, are you sure you're-"
"No..." Levi shut his eyes, put his hands at the sides of his head, and lowered his head. He was clearly forcing himself before he had made a full emotional recovery. "...but it's important."
Alan wasn't sure what to do, and looked at Royland for input. Only he knew what he needed to talk to them about, after all.

Royland was happy, the training went spectacular, everyone had fun and Levi probably learned a lot about himself. So overall this has been a very successful day, but Levi decided to do something that Roy could not describe without using two words and those words were weird and desperate. Royland understood that it was what Levi would do if he was in that actual situation, luckily for everyone present Roy did not intend on doing anything like that. "Haha of course buddy, I like to joke around. Were you confused?" Royland asked with a big toothy smile on his face, the joy was clear on his face he enjoyed himself today and he thought Levi did as well.
But the next thing that happened was something that Roy found shocking, Levi did not accept his offer to get up and instead turned away and sobbed instead. The spadamon felt bad and began to think on what has transpired today, he must have made some kind of mistake. That was not the question that was on his mind, he was mostly thinking on what was the mistake that made Levi feel that way. Royland wanted to touch Levi's shoulder and help reassure him but he just could not, his eyes turned to the ground and could not say anything for a couple of seconds and just stood in silence. "I am sorry Levi, was it something I did ? Its been a while since I helped anyone practice, I must have did something wrong. Please forgive me, it was not my intention to do that. " finally he managed to say something, it was not eloquent but that was what he felt.
Kazuya got up and followed Alan, he was much slower. Walking in a normal pace, he could see that Levi was really upset so he rubbed his chin thinking on why as he walked up to the two digimon. His first thesis on the reason Levi was feeling that way was that the young dragon had a burst of emotions, because according to them Levi was never been in a real battle but he acted very competently. So Kazuya assumed that he was bottling all that feeling of fear and nervousness and once the battle is officially over everything blew up for Levi and he was overwhelmed by his own emotions. But Kazuya could not be sure, for he could not read minds sadly.
Once there Kazuya witness the two new acquaintances embrace in a hug, it was a sweet moment but when the man turned to Roy he found him sad and looking down on the ground. Kazuya nudged him very gently with his leg, and Royland looked up on to find Kazuya smiling to him and mouthing the words (don't worry too much) he wanted to help Roy not blame himself too much now, and it kinda worked as Royland began to look up more often.
"Umm yeah, I have a couple of things to say. Hmm maybe let us take a breather before I talk, just 5 minutes." Royland said as he wanted to get in a better state of mind before going on about what Levi did wrong in the battle, it just did not feel right now.

As soon as Royland said that they'd be taking a five minute break, Alan thanked him and continued to soothe Levi. He placed the small dragon's head back into a good position to rest over his shoulder, and spoke softly, while running a hand down his back.
"You're alright; we're taking a break, just relax... shhh…."
Levi had already run out of energy with which to speak, and wouldn't be very long at drifting off to sleep, but not before his tail, which was previously hanging freely, unmoving, now lightly wrapped itself around the arm Alan was using to keep Levi propped up against him. After a few seconds, Alan felt Levi's tail tighten its grip on his arm, and remained that way as the Veemon fell asleep. Alan wasn't able to say anything or move around too much, as he didn't want to wake his sleeping partner, and Levi's body language told him he wanted to stay just like this for a while, Alan merely smiled and watched him take a well-deserved nap until Royland was ready to get back to his lesson.

Royland smiled weakly when Alan proceeded to heal Levi and help take a nap, the little Spadamon could not help but feel like he was the one who made a mistake. He anticipated a more "huzzah I made it" kind of reaction from Levi, but instead he got something different. He was was not expecting the reaction at all, guess even Royland had more to learn, life is full of unique experiences and even people who are can be described as those who have seen and learned a lot like Kazuya and Royland, still have much to learn themselves.
While Levi took his nap, Royland took a couple of steps back staying far away from the group as possible. His arms were crossed as he looked down on the ground, his eyes were distant as many thoughts crossed his mind. So he was silent for the most part, up until Kazuya walked up to Roy and started to talk to him.
"Hey Royland, do you want to talk about stuff ? You look like there is something bothering you, so if you want to talk about it feel free to go ahead." Kazuya said as he tried to help ease the worry of his friend.
"I guess, I am just worried that I went a little too hard on Levi. I don't know I feel kinda feel bad, what should I do ?" Royland said as he looked up to Kazuya his eyes yearned for answers, his mind was filled with doubt.
"I do not know what to tell you Roy, but just calm down and wait for Levi and ask him how he feels. I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with your teaching, I am sure he was just overwhelmed with this battle. " Kazuya said with a smile on his face, that helped calm Royland the Spadamon who gave him a nod and waited for Levi to wake up.

Due to not wishing to wake his partner, Alan could only listen closely to the conversation happening nearby. Right. He didn't expect Levi to be able to explain exactly what had happened, but he trusted that Royland wouldn't have to worry so much once Levi stated what he could gather. Of course, Alan knew as well as anyone that self-doubt never cleared up quite that easily, but he still had faith it would help. Thinking ahead, Alan decided to lower Levi from his shoulder into a comfortable position on the ground. He figured that it might help with Levi's emotional recovery to wake up in a different place than he fell asleep, signaling some sort of passage of time. The dragon's partner would still be keeping a watchful eye over him, though he would wake up very soon after being moved.
Levi blinked up at the sunlight, took a deep breath, and slowly stretched himself out with a yawn, noting that Alan was still sitting beside him.
"Hmm... how long was I out?" he asked.
"About five minutes," responded Alan.
"Really? Only that long? Then..."
The Veemon searched his surroundings for Royland, spotting him standing nearby and looking forlorn, greatly concerned about something. He believed he had a pretty good idea of what it was, and rushed over to the Spadamon on that notion.
"Hey, hey... Royland… you didn't... that wasn't... I mean..." he sighed to refresh his sentence. "You did perfectly. I couldn't have asked for a better training session. If anything, I psyched myself out. I wanted to show respect what you were trying to teach me by giving it my all- by treating the battle like it was real. But I guess I took it too seriously, and it... took its toll on me. That's the way I see it, anyway. My answer will probably change a few times over the next week."
He put his hand on Royland's shoulder.
"It doesn't matter. Whatever the reason, you didn't do anything wrong." The Veemon then gave his new mentor a hug, patting him a few times on the back. "Okay?" He didn't know if Royland needed a hug, but it seemed like the right time to give one. He assumed that at worst, he would get no reciprocation; he highly doubted there would be any sort of negative response.

Royland waited for Levi to wake up, he crossed his arms and had a very serious countenance. A myriad of thoughts kept swimming through the sea of his mind, he was worried and genuinely concerned for Levi's well being. Royland grew up in a much more harsh and cruel digital world, a place where you have to fight to live, survival of the fittest was the name of the game for Royland. So the lion knight thought that he had not adapt to this more safe digital world, and maybe he was too hard on Levi. He couldn't help but be worried, but worrying too much won't help him so he stopped trying to over think the whole situation.
But Levi finally woke up, Royland scratched his head as he did not know bow to approach his new student. But luckily for Royland he did not need to do that, because Levi was the one who approached him. And what he said was something that Royland appreciated and made him happy, the Spadamon smiled at his sentiment. "Well I am glad, I had thought that I wa-" Royland was interrupted with a hug from Levi, it took Roy a second to realize what was going on. But once he did the Spadamon immediately hugged Levi back, patting him on the head. "Thanks, I am glad. You have been an exceptional student, it bring me so much pride to call you my student. And if you will let me I will promise to help you attain your true strength and unlock the potential I see in you." Royland said as he gave Levi a tight hug with a full smile on his face.
Kazuya on the other hand stood by and watched as Royland hugged Levi, Kazuya couldn't help but feel like Roy was feeling the way he does because of what happened to his previous student the tragedy of Argus, if so Kazuya can understand where Roy's fear comes from now.

Watching Levi cheer up his new mentor was a lovely experience for Alan, and, he imagined, an even lovelier one for Levi. He watched the two digimon hug for a good amount of time, then walked forward, leaned over, and tapped Levi on the shoulder.
"Don't fall asleep again, Levi," he teased, though only half joking.
The Veemon raised his head from Royland's shoulder, appearing almost groggy.
"I wasn't- unless I already did... did I?" he asked.
"Not for very long, if you did," replied his partner.
"Ah." He slowly released from the hug, before declaring to the small group present, "Royland is very fluffy." Alan gave this an approving nod. "Nobody's blaming you."
"Anyway," continued Levi, turning his head back to his mentor, "Thank you for the offer. I would like nothing more than continuing to learn from you. Now, you had something you wanted to say? Hee hee."

Royland chuckled at the statement of Alan, but it did made him wonder if the hug took a while. He turned to Kazuya with a questioning gaze, only to see the man shrug and chuckle. Royland then switched his focus back to Alan, he had a smile on his face. "Wow the hug felt shorter than it really was huh ? That is weird." He said with a puzzled look, you see Roy thinks he heard every possible compliment there is but no, because what Levi said really caught him off guard, Roy was flustered and did not know what to say. "W-what? Fl-fluffy ? Me ? What ? No, I am not fluffy, am I ? " Roy began to stutter and panic, gaining a laugh from the golden eyed tall man. To think Royland was supposed to be the more experienced one and the wise mentor to Levi, yet he acted like a very young digimon. But luckily for everyone present Roy would regain his composure and gather his thoughts and then cleared his throat before turning his focus towards, his stare was more focus and clear than ever, it was due to his passion for combat that he took thiseriously.
"Ah yes, I need to give you a review and tell how you did in this battle. First I will like to give you the good parts, overall I am quite impressed with how your first battle turned out, your decision making skills were above average even for veterans. Your decision to not jump in arc while avoiding my projectile was excellent, you'd be surprise at how many people would fall for that. Second good thing, for the most part your defence was practical, its not perfect but its far better than me when I first started." Royland said as he was crossing his arms, he stopped to take a breath and give both Levi and Alan some time to think about what he said.
"Ok now on to the second part, your shortcomings Levi. First your defence was great but you made the occasional mistakes, the biggest one was using both hands to completely negate a one handed attack, while on paper it would seem like you stopped an attack completely thus doing good, but in practicality you just open yourself up for more damage than anything by leaving your opponents other arms free and open. And most importantly your most lacking sector, offence. You have good physical strength Levi, but you are not utilizing it. This is an area I can't help you with, only you can understand the limitation and abilities of your body but I will help. If you feel like there a certain technique you can use for offence simply show it to me and I will try to hone it and help you evolve it, but you need to be aggressive in battle. Strike a balance between offence and defence and you will be a mighty warrior. " Royland said, while the Spadamon believed that Levi had innate talent, he refrained from using that word to try and not boost his ego and accidentally make him unwilling to train hard to reach his high potential.

Once Royland had finished with his evaluation of the match, Levi nodded, while Alan closed his eyes, deep in thought. It was the Tamer who spoke first:
"I'd be a fool to claim that experience fighting in video games was the same as experience fighting for real, but based on everything I've seen so far, I see a lot of parallels... with one very important difference: real opponents do not have pre-programmed attack patterns. You can't simply stand back until they've shown you everything up their sleeve, 'cause they're gonna keep reacting and adjusting to you. That's my two bits, anyway."
"Yeah... I suppose knowing how much more experience you had made me overly cautious. Especially when you brought the sword out. I was intimidated by the extended reach, but really, that just meant it would have been an even better idea to move in first. I imagine it's awkward for a sword-wielder to swing it at an attacker who's at point-blank range. Oh, tell us if we're off base with any of this; it's a lotta conjecture at the moment."
Alan decided to make one additional comment: "And for the record... I wasn't the one hugging you, but from where I'm standing, you look pretty fluffy, Royland. Which I intend as a compliment."

Kazuya was surprised by the idea of using knowledge from video games and try to use them in the context of an actual combat situation, but he would be a liar if he said he did not find where Alan is coming from. Of course the golden eyed man found some faults in that line of thinking but he decidee to keep it for himself now, since now was Roy's moment, he was the one who actually knew what he was talking about. But Kazuya was going to be ready to speak it Royland misses something that he thinks needs to be said, but for now he will watch in silence only giving the occasional nod.
Royland listened to Alan, arms crossed and head tilted to the right, honestly it took him a couple of seconds to try understand what Alan meant by fighting games. Only to remember him and Kazuya playing a game called street fighter a week ago, that made him smile a cute memory as Kazuya did not know what to do. But that was not important right now, he knew that some philosophy used in that type of games can be used in actual combat. I mean of course it does not fully apply but at least it is a start, better than being a 100% stranger to the world of combat. Royland was going to reply to Alan, but Levi started to talk so the little lion focused his attention on the impish blue drake.
Royland listened to the common mistake new comers make when fighting, overestimating their opponents and panic once a new element is added into the battle. Royland did not blame Levi for thinking that way, if anything Royland was glad that he can confront those ideas right now and hopefully at the very least make it so that those ideas do not hinder Levi in the future. So when Levi was done Royland was ready to answer their concerns, but out of nowhere Alan made a weird complement that made Roy blush and look away for a second. "Uhhhh, thanks Alan. "
"Ahem anyways time to address what you guy said, firstly Alan. I am sure that some ideas from fighting games can be helpful but I recommend reading books. My top two recommendations are the art war and the book of five rings, these can help a lot, but mostly experience helps too. Also every opponent is different, the ability to read the flow of battle and understand the rhythm of everything around you is something you only gain after countless battles so there is that." He took a second to stop and look back at Levi.
"As for that, listen closely to me now Levi. Doubting yourself is never good, always believe in yourself. But I do not want you to think you are invincible but I need you to only fight if you believe you can win and always be confident and proud of yourself got it ? As for the other thing, it is only natural that I won. You see as a spadamon I prefer the mid range, a place were the reach of my sword is supreme. You are un equipped with weapons at all and your no long range mage like fighter so, you have to do one thing get in the close range the range where your fists are king. In that scenario knowing that I might lose in that distance, I will go on the defensive and try to force things back to mid range combat. So think of it like a back and forth type deal, every time you are forced in your opponent prefered range take a defensive stance and find a way to force your way into the range you want before going on the offensive once more."

"Hold on, let me write this down, just in case." Alan reached into his pocket and pulled out his D-Terminal, then opened it. "Or, not write, but still take notes, whatever. I was never good about 'doing the readings' in school, but this is important. Plus, I've heard the title The Art of War be thrown around a lot, so I am curious. I've not heard of The Book of Five Rings, though, so I'll make a point of looking that up. Right, right, experience is the most important thing; can't forget that part."
Levi nodded to show he was listening as Royland gave him his tips. To his mild surprise, Royland said about what he had been trying to tell himself, but it was nice to hear it all reaffirmed by someone who was far more experienced than he, even worded in a far more concrete fashion.
"Yes. I understand," he affirmed, beginning to bow. "Thank you, Mas... Sens..." he changed his mind about the bow, instead stretching out his hand with an awkward smile. "...Royland."

Royland nodded towards Alan, he liked the fact that the boy seemed like he is a person who wants to keep his promises. "Alright, that will prove helpful. A book about war will be able to at least let you understand the mindset of a warrior. And if there is anything you did not understand in the book, just let me know later and I will try to explain it to the best of my abilities Alan." Royland said with a smile on his face as he turned back to Levi, waiting to see if the tiny blue digimon had something to say to reply to him.
Royland eyes would widen as Levi stumbled at what to call him or how to greet him, the spadamon smiled when Levi choose to go with a simple more formal way. "Yeah that is better, no need for fancy greetings, lets keep it simple and casual alright Levi." Royland said as he shakes the hand of the veemon, this was a weird bizarre day but it was super fun and Roy enjoyed it.
But before the day was to be done, Kazuya chimed in to say something important. "Oh hey before I forget Alan, oh you have a D terminal ? If so we need to exchange information, so we can easily communicate with each other Don't you think? " Kazuya said as he turned towards Alan.

Alan's eyes widened a little when the D-Terminal was mentioned.
"Yep! Thanks for reminding me! You're looking for our TamerNet screen names?" Even though he knew his own scree name by heart, Alan still opened up TamerNet on his device to be absolutely sure he was reading directly from the source, and made no mistakes. He held the D-Terminal out from his head at a reasonable distance, and looked at the name on screen, a silent laugh escaping from his lips. "That'd be 'Wafcake63,'" he said, "I assume you have a Japanese keyboard, but that's capital w, lowercase a-f-c-a-k-e-six-three."
"And I'm GetInTheBagLebby, no spaces, each word's first letter is capitalized, and 'Lebby' is spelled L-e-b-b-y!" Levi beamed.
"That one's... a bit harder to explain if you don't already get it. But those are our names on there, so, there! We'll be able to meet up far more easily for more lessons that way!"
"Is it always gonna be a lesson, though?" asked Levi, a look of mild worry on his face. "You can't blame me for wanting to do stuff with friends that isn't fighting, can you?"

Kazuya nodded at Alan who seemed to not only have a D-terminal but also knew how to navigate it, Kazuya has never used it before, the opportunity never presented itself. But hey that did not stop him from building up a list, you can't really project when that's gonna be useful so better be safe than sorry. He nodded at the two strange names the two used as internet handles, he never understood why people do that, then again he only uses emails and the like for formal use so he might be a little out of touch.
"Uh huh, so Wafcake63 and GetInTheBagLebby. Did I get those right ? In any case, I have no name in there so expect a message from an Oda or something like that Alan. We will be in touch."
Royland frowned as he looked at Kazuya, utterly unamused by his lack of creativity. The spadamon then shook his head, he did not like what he heard.
"What ? No way man, I will come up with names for both of us later and they will be very epic. And to answer your question real quick Levi, no if we train and forget to have fun then training will be boring and I personally think next time we meet we should do something fun, like bowling or maybe try some video games, what do you think Levi ?"
Royland asked as he turned to his new student to see what he thought about his proposition. The young lion warrior knew how important it is to train the rookie Levi and even though he can be considered to be his mentor, Royland saw the nature of their relation ship as friends first, so of course he will return the feelings Levi had about relaxing and prioritizing fun over training.
"But yeah we will chat over the net later Levi, for now we gotta go, see ya and take care my friend till we meet again."
With Royland and Kazuya said their goodbyes as they headed for rosewood to meet Cion who just texted Kazuya, well whatever the rest of the day had in store for them, Kazuya and Royland can comfortably say they made new friends this wonderful day.
