Seriously? The Mephistomon was going to try and kick there?
Had he seen what that electric ball just did a moment earlier? Honestly, he wasn't sure what the demon was going to expect: the sharp strike sent a deep electrical surge straight back into that leg, just as those runes exploded within! Granted, it was an effective counter, hairline cracks beginning to form at that central sphere, but it was hard to tell if that did more harm than good. The explosion was enough to put some distance between himself and the demon - enough for that Lagosmon to slip in!
"Hey, hey, hey!" It was difficult for anyone else to really get a shot in, but the Lagosmon would really pile it in, a quick flurry of blows landing right on his frame, only about half of them effectively blocked by that scythe. At this close range, it was hard for him to find a direct opening, but despite his panicked visage? The Phantomon was patient.
He was waiting, looking for an opening... and he'd soon find it. That quick flick into mid-air, to bring his foot straight down on the MetalPhantomon's head. His eye gave a glint, as he moved straight to counter, brandishing that scythe with a swing that threatened to split the Lagosmon in two! "Good-night!"
Put on his back foot, the MetalPhantomon takes a defensive stance - and uses 'Ghost Reaper' to counter Toki's last movement, spying a moment where his defenses were lowered!

"CHEATER!"
Mephistomon was angry, why won't this skeleton just die?! His electrocuted and blown up leg had for now lost its ability to keep the demon standing but in his frustration and anger at least he produced enough adrenaline to numb the pain down to near non-existence. But to everyone else, especially by watching the odd jiggly way the leg was moving in spite of Mephistomon's movement, should be able to tell that Mephistomon was merely the only one present who hadn't got the memo of his injuries that and his wings eliminated the need to put weight on said foot. He roared out loud, ensuring that every remaining bird had left by now. "You're gonna regret that!" He then showed the right palm to Phantomon and dark energy sprouted out of it. "SHADOW BEAM!" Mephistomon has definitely lost it now, not even able to conceal the attack by not mentioning it by name anymore. Just as Phantomon was about to cut Lagosmon in half.
Mephistomon's leg was heavily damage, not that he noticed or cared.Mephistomon attacked with shadow beam... again.

The scythe was going right for him. Toki knew that if that attack connected, he might not be able to get out of this alive. Despite this fact, Toki's eerie levels of calm did not falter with MetalPhantomon's incoming attack. In fact he looked as if he just had the perfect opportunity in front of him as he waved has hands down towards him "Sand Shackles!" he called out. A torrent of sand materialized and lashed out towards MetalPhantomon's arms and scythe. The blade may be intangible, but the shaft likely wasn't. The sand would swiftly try to constrict and bind MetalPhantomon's hands together. The weight of the condensed sand would either cease the swing or pull them down slightly so the blade narrowly avoided him as he kicked off of MetalPhantomon's skull.
If all this succeeded, Lagosmon would keep his hands clutched to two tendrils of the sand. He would dig his feet into the ground and with all of his might, keep MetalPhantomon bound to the sand and keep him in the line of fire of Mephistomon's beam. When and if the beam connected, Toki would tighten his grip and attempt to pull MetalPhantomon closer to the ground and in the open for the others to get a good shot in on him.
Even Toki knew he was pushing his limits and luck here, but he believed in everyone around him to attack when it mattered, and to make those attacks count. They were running low on time and this battle had to be ended soon, if not now. He grit his teeth and smiled at the progress he has made...and the confidence he seemed to instill in others. Was he scared? Certainly, but there were more important things to do other than give in to the fear and leave these Digimon to a miserable fate. This battle against a stronger opponent only further steeled that resolve.
----------
Toki goes to counter MetalPhantomon's Ghost Reaper with Sand Shackles in an attempt to weigh them down, both to avoid taking damage himself and to leave MetalPhantomon more open to counter attacks from everyone else.
Sand Shackles: Conjures streams of sand to latch onto foes in an area and weigh them down, substantially hindering their movement for 2 turns. (3 turn cooldown.)

Cheater? What was cheating in a fight to the death?
The MetalPhantomon's attention was naturally drawn to the approaching Lagosmon, that rabbit actively trying to punch the mega straight into the dirt. But, it seemed that one counter was simply bait for another, the specter's scythe and arms quickly caught up in that earthen bind. The ghoul grit his teeth, the Lillymon aiming to try and take a shot at that restrained mega...
... But the moment that the Lagosmon pressed right down against that head, a low and ghastly voice rolled right on out.
"Soul. Predator."
Toki was right, that blade was held too short to reach him - but that wasn't the only way the scythe could be used. A massive surge of power caused that blade to spark, and in the next instant, grow vastly in size, the outward motion threatening to cut down Toki right through the middle, before he could kick away.
As for the Shadow Beam - and, from the Lillymon, an empowered Flower Cannon? Well, he leaned towards the former to dodge the latter, the spectral energy binding his left arm taking the brunt of the strike. The static faded, the hand falling uselessly to the ground.
"Tch... that seems to work! Keep your focus on its arms and core!"
The MetalPhantom utilizes 'Soul Predator' to massively increase the size of his blade. The expansion itself threatens to pierce through the Lagosmon's midsection. Duration: Soul Predator: 1/3 CD: Death's Curse: 2/2 - READY Havoc Storm: 2/2 - READY

Mephistomon watched the MetalPhantomon getting handcuffed by Toki. This will severely limit MetalPhantomon's ability to fight back. Well aside from having his weapon growing large and aiming towards Toki. Was this skeleton compensating?
About time something was going right again, normally it would irritate Mephistomon to effectively being ignored but unless you count the delayed explosion MetalPhantomon has just been taken hit after hit without doing anything about it. At this rate the MetalPhantomon would slowly but surely go down, at least that's what Mephistomon was thinking at the moment. Oh right, he can launch another dose of fire this time he should go for the digi-core according to the Lillymon. Mephistomon nodded to the fairy
"Will do."
While MetalPhantomon was busy attacking Toki, he flew in a circular motion to get behind MetalPhantomon. Then he pointed his palm at MetalPhantomon. This time he wanted to hit MetalPhantomon right at the digi-core with his so far reliable dark energy beam.

Toki watched as the scythe's blade glowed brighter. The blade's extension caught him off guard and as he tried to escape, it was ultimately too late. The blade slashed across his torso, pain burning across his entire body as he's slammed to the ground from the hit. The shackles around MetalPhantomon's arms persisted as he held onto his concentration, but Toki seemed to be just fallen over on the ground, unable to fight anymore. He contemplated everything up until now. He has grown so much and fought so hard. Was this how it was going to end? He grit his teeth as he felt himself start to cry from the pain and frustration, tears streaming down his face. The others still needed him. If he wasn't there to help them escape, what would happen? Would they all be enslaved or killed? He couldn't let that happen, but his body was weakening. He could barely hold on to his Digimon form. If he reverted now, he might actually die. "Toki!" a voice called within his mind "You can do this. They're counting on you. Show this enemy that they are not allowed to win this easily. That you're stronger than even they are at Mega! Because you have one thing they don't. A will to protect."--- --- Toki felt a surge of energy within him as the wound on his chest started to close, if only slightly. The pain subsided as he slowly began to stand up and raise his fist into the air. He breathed heavily from the exertion, but he was determined to win this battle. As Mephistomon's beam launched from behind MetalPhantomon, he slammed his palm into the ground "Stalagmite Fortress!!" he called out as the earthen spikes from before launched out of the ground towards MetalPhantomon. These ones seemed more concentrated and larger than before and far more numerous in a cluster, with spikes emerging from existing ones all with one purpose. To slam into and crush MetalPhantomon's central core. The sheer number would make it difficult to slash through all of them and the radius would make it difficult to side-step. Afterwards, Toki staggered but remained on his feet as he said "These Digimon...the Digital World...I swear to you...they're under my protection...!" he stood tall and gave MetalPhantomon and intimidating glare. The rage and drive Toki had was something to behold. He raised a hand and pointed a finger at MetalPhantomon "Take him out."--- Activated Moonstone Traveler's Team Ability: Beyond the Impossible Team Ability: Beyond the Impossible. Unyielding determination burns within the hearts of the Travelers, giving them the chance to accomplish amazing things. Through this ability, a team member in a crisis can gain a second wind, recovering some health and refreshing three cooldowns of choice aside from Once Per Thread abilities. Through this, a team member can potentially turn a losing situation into a comeback victory. This ability can only be activated once per thread. Use Conditions: Low health, watched an ally be taken out of combat, enemy gets reinforcements. Toki uses Stalagmite Fortress in an attempt to crush MetalPhantomon's central core! Stalagmite Fortress: Upon placing their palms on the ground, an area of their choosing erupts in a barrage of earthen spikes. Enemies caught will be damaged and suffer bleed damage for 2 turns (2 turn cooldown.)

"Tch!"
"Damn it, not now!"
Ah... that's one down...
Finally, the MetalPhantomon had a 'break' from his direct assailant. One clever move was all the mega needed to get a nice, wide cut through the ultimate's chest, and the specter knew that Toki wasn't going to be moving that well anymore. That left just two relevant targets: the Mephistomon, and the Lillymon. Once he was able to push through them, he could clear the rest of this area well enough on his own. This was, of course, why the MetalPhantomon was able to keep his cool, the shaft of his scythe meeting cleanly with the Mephistomon's claws as he struck forward.
It would only be a matter of time -
"Stalagmite Fortress!!"
"Gah?!"
Dammit, what was that? Like a pincer from below, a powerful 'prison' of rocks shot up, piercing right into that electrical core, a feeling of pure shock extending through the specter's eyes! The skeletal Digimon roared out in rage, that empowered scythe sparking as he threw caution to the wind, simply launching it in Toki's direction! "Shut up, already!"
This time, however, the scythe would meet something: a thin, shimmering barrier, about halfway between Toki and the target, threw that scythe off-track, the Wizardmon snagging the weapon out from the air. Lillymon, in that same moment, took her own shot: a single 'bullet' landing right on that skeleton's head, causing it to spin right around the hinge on its neck.
All of this, of course, set it up: one straight line for the Mephistomon to strike towards that now-sparking core. He'd likely get shocked in the process, but even a mega couldn't ignore a full-fledged strike right to their center!

AN: Since salts don't conduct in their solid state due to lack of electrons which can flow freely, bones do not conduct electricity.
Mephistomon watched in amusement MetalPhantomon's strategies falling apart, if someone makes you truly angry and psychically hurt there's nothing more satisfying than watching the moment where said person digimon realizes they are screwed. Such a moment arrived when MetalPhantomon was caught in Toki's spikes just when he wanted to turn on Mephistomon. "Gah?!"
"Is something wrong?" Mephistomon said smugly in response in a blatantly false voice of pity that was more patronizing than comforting. Obviously he already knew the answer to his question but had to gloat. On the other hand he made a mental note to keep Toki in line and not outright antagonize him if he's this capable against a mega. It was then that all the other forest digimon rushed against MetalPhantomon and in the end MetalPhantomon was rendered completely exposed to Mephistomon. And that's when everyone should remember that Mephistomon is ultimately a goat, a Baphomet inspired humanoid yes but a goat foremost. Never had that fact been more important than right now when he lowered his head and body until he was on all fours or almost as his one leg laid wrong. Then he rushed, using his wing to achieve high speed and to ignore the leg he tried to ram right through MetalPhantomon's digi-core. The lightning struck his horns but the lightning didn't seem to have any notable impact on Mephistomon.

Toki struggled to remain standing after that burst of adrenaline wore off. He staggered back and leaned against a tree all while he tried his best to remain conscious. "Breathe..." he told himself as he pressed his palms together and focused "Meditation Cure..." he muttered, his body healing as best as it could, but it was clear this wound was deep. This was going to leave a scar for sure. However, it was enough to keep him on his feet. He wasn't in any immediate danger now, but if he had to continue fighting, that might be a problem.
He watched as Mephistomon rushed towards MetalPhantomon with the intent to violently ram one of his horns through the core. He looked between the battle, then towards the minefield. With any luck, with MetalPhantomon out of the picture, the mines would clear away and they would have a straight shot out of the forest to the evacuation point. He had to be focused, though with what happened here he wasn't sure if he'd be in any shape to continue to fight in the forest, which hurt him to think about. He'd have to place his faith in the other people brave enough to defend the region from this attack.
Still, he watched everything unfold and steadied himself in case he was needed for battle. He grit his teeth, hoping that Mephistomon's attack was enough to bring an end to the battle and they could all get out before enemy reinforcements arrived. These Digimon needed to get to safety. Speaking of which, if the battle was indeed over, he would gently wave to them all and beckon for them to come out to continue their trek through the forest. Despite the damage he took, he wanted to lead them to safety "We're almost there, everyone...I-I'll guard the back line if everything goes well. You all did great here today."
--------
Toki used Meditation Cure to heal his injuries partially, but they're still rather heavy.
If the battle is over, he would rally the Digimon and prepare to push forward.

Author's Note: There's a reason lightning rods are made of metal. In retrospect, it might have been better to attempt a ranged attack, or even a fist, rather than attempt to run headlong into a sparking sphere of electricity. Staggered and dazed as he was, it took little effort for the Mephistomon to close in, that 'Ram' hitting that electrical core directly. That sphere cracked and broke, a sharp 'crack' of electrical energy dissipating outward as the casing was severed.
"GRAUGH!"
In an impressive snap, he'd explode into a cloud of electrical energy and data - the former of which would be of great concern to the Mephistomon. Had his horns been made of metal, it might have simply discharged down his back and out into the ground - but as they were solid bone, the electrical energy had no way to travel - and simply exploded outward in the few inches of bone the energy was able to invade. Such a force would throw the goat demon back with a deafening blast, the Lillymon gritting her teeth at the sheer pain that caused.
Toki had it right, there was no time to dwaddle. The Sunflowmon gave a nod, the Lillymon responding, as she floated down: "Alright, I'll check the immediate area for traps, and... hm? Sir?"
She'd just caught onto something a touch off - the Wizardmon, a few yards away, was... chuckling? Hearing himself addressed, the sorcerer cleared his throat: "Sorry, sorry. After all that, the relief might have just gotten to me..."
"... Tch. Fine. Mephistomon, you still good over there!"
It was a fair question to ask, the second Sunflowmon moving over to try and help the demon back to his feet. Regardless, they had to keep moving, and would take a new formation. Their vanguards wounded, the Lillymon led, with the two Sunflowmon keeping near the back with the other two, the Wizardmon staying near Toki and the goat demon.
The mines seemed disabled, up to this point... but what was with this eerie silence?

Curse you laws of physics! Well I'm back from my Christmas hiatus
The ram attack did not go fully as Mephistomon had expected. He did get to deliver the fatal blow and the cracked digi-core ended up at his horns. However the charged electricity exploded but there was something else in the air than electricity, data! And with the digi-core right on his head and being in the center Mephistomon absorbed every drop of energy from MetalPhantomon he could get hold up begging the question of whether MetalPhantomon would ever be able to return to the living. While such a drain definitely rendered him very powerful... It did nothing about the explosion that followed and tossed him through a tree. But once the dust wore out, the Mephistomon was gone and a Gulfmon had taken his place.
A worn down mega who had roughly the endurance of an ultimate level, this had rendered the demonic digimon a glass cannon. The Gulfmon tried to get up, only then to realize his broken leg and flop back with groaning in pain. A 2nd try and he managed to get up now aware of the broken leg, on the other hand he didn't seem to understand what was going on. He turned to Lillymon and then yelled.
"WHAAAAAT?" Apparently Gulfmon's hearing was also affected by the explosion. He then looked confused at Toki, did he just say something? It seemed important judging by everyone else around him.

Toki heavily disapproved of what Mephistomon did with the data, but now was not the time to argue morality. Something about all of this seemed...extremely off. Even Wizardmon's behavior was starting to become a little suspect. After such an intense, loud battle, there was nothing but an eerie silence throughout the woods. Nothing was nearby...nothing was coming for them. Why was MetalPhantomon the only one? This made no sense to him whatsoever.
As the group walked, Toki lagging behind only slightly to care for his injury, he finally spoke up "...So we're almost at the south-east border of the forest." he said. "Why was there only one enemy in the way in such a massive attack on this forest? Why are they even here and what are they looking for? This feels more than just a purge. Furthermore...who else here has information on the escape plan and who organized it out there? I just want to be sure that everyone here is going somewhere safe until it's okay to return and rebuild." he said.
He looked over to Wizardmon "I never did ask, are you a resident or were you sent from the outside by someone to rescue survivors? If it's the latter, are they sending out Digimon to also help in the battles out there? I think some of my friends are fighting tooth and nail and I'd feel better if I knew help was on the way." he wouldn't like any vagueness. He just had to try his best to not sound suspicious, especially if it was just his imagination about Wizardmon. If there was something more to this, however, then he'd find out. For everyone's sake.
He winced slightly at Mephistomon's sudden digivolution into Gulfmon, but he was worried that the battle has for the most part crippled the digimon. One of their legs was obliterated and now they seemed to have hearing problems. Hopefully he would be able to get some help when all was said and done. However, as they kept walking, Toki shuddered at the idea that they weren't quite out of this yet. He prayed that this wasn't a trap and that everything was a set up.

"Ugh..."
Just pleasant, the Lillymon thought to herself. Not only was this Mephistomon-turned-Gulfmon not fine, having trouble with a broken front leg, but the entire demonic presence seemed exceptionally hard of hearing. Most of the group shuddered at that sudden noise, the Lillymon retorting back: "Ugh, forget it! Let's just get the hell out of here, and we can worry about your shit later!"
It was blunt, but they didn't have time to deal with this nonsense! It didn't take them long to get on the road, though, and as the Lagosmon caught up, he had a few questions. "Honestly, at this point, I'm not questioning it. I'm just glad we haven't run into anything else yet." Maybe Toki's snese of relief was just a bit too early? She didn't have an answer to 'who had information' on the escape route, simply giving a shrug...
... As the Wizardmon gave a small tilt of his hat. "I'm just here to do what I can, Toki. I'm not a resident of the forest nor a part of the rescue group, but this place has special meaning to me. Whatever's happening, I just couldn't sit idly by." The tone itself seemed sincere enough... but his attention on the conversation wouldn't last. In fact, it was unlikely that these words would come to mind for even a moment, as the sound of a sizeable explosion roared off to their right, a bloom of crimson-and-orange light filling the sky!
"Fucking hell, what now?!"
"Are we still under fire?!"
Damn it, what now? Just a few seconds after the 'explosion', the sky above started to become thick with hot ash, billowing over across the group from right to left. The Lillymon swore under her breath: "Damn it, the ash will spread the fire... fuck it, we're out of time. Everyone, get the lead out of your shoes and let's move!"
"Tch..." The sorcerer cast his gaze upwards, and pointed his staff forward. "The rest of you, follow her out! I'll take the rear and keep the spreading flame at bay!"

While the leg and not to mention generally being worn out by combat was certainly crippling, so was not being able to hear right. Most of the interaction between Toki and Wizardmon went straight over Gulfmon's head as result of not being able to hear the dialog proper he had to resort to lip reading... Something he had zero experience with by the way. This was easily showcased in his response to Lillymon's comment.
"Why would I wear a shirt?"
The confusion was relatively easy to conceal since the group was starting to leave the area so that's probably what was expected of him right now. Because of his lack of hearing he failed to notice the explosion and yet he stopped and smelled something burning. He watched the ensuing panic and looked up, the sky was orange and soon ash rained from the sky. But once again the hearing became and issue since he couldn't know for certain what Wizardmon said, so he tried to walk in the direction pointed out by Wizardmon"s staff hoping this was the right interpretation.

Wizardmon seemed sincere. Perhaps he was just overthinking it and that the stress of the situation was getting to him. He felt a little bad when Lillymon expressed her annoyance over the situation "I'm sorry, no more questions right now." he said. Then, even more disaster struck as an explosion shook the very ground they were standing on. He looked up and around for anything that might have caused it, but the raining embers were going to prove to be more of a concern. He looked back at Wizardmon "Y-you're going to stay behind?" he said, not liking the idea of having to go on without someone. He clenched his fists "Then at least let me do this." he said.
He placed his palms together "Sand Shackles!" he called out, conjuring the streams of sand that once restrained MetalPhantomon and used them to spread out and catch some of the ashes to smother them as well as cover up some of the foliage to prevent them from igniting. Hopefully anyway "That's all I can do for you on short notice...just...good luck, Wizardmon. Thank you." he said before he ran up to Gulfmon.
With a gentle pat at one of his good legs, he would hopefully get his attention long enough to gesture at the group that was fleeing and beckoned for him to follow him. It was clear Gulfmon's hearing was damaged, so he wanted to do his best to guide this unlucky Digimon out of here alongside everyone else. Once he was hopeful enough that he did a good enough job, he ran towards the rest of the group and did his best to keep up amidst the chaos.
He looked back at Wizardmon as the group ran and felt bad that it had to come to this. He would have to let others know that he stayed behind. Maybe they could return to help him. He just hoped dearly that he would be able to pull through. Still, something about all of this just didn't feel right. He steeled himself for the road ahead.
