That Same Old Feeling Again [Open]

One of the most peaceful places in the Digital World continued to be the Network Plains. No matter what seemed to happen to the Digital World, these plains never seem to be affected, at least not in a lasting way. Yet, the wind was strange today. Peaceful yet....sullen. Something had happened. Something....dangerous, deadly even. Sitting on a large rock in a cluster of small boulders were two men, one brunette and another, slightly younger, with shocking blue hair. The two of them were mid devouring of sandwiches when Darian spoke.
"Hey Gabe...you feel that?" Darian, the brunette questioned, taking another bite of his sandwich.
Gabe quickly finished his, grabbing another from an Infini-Store before replying,
"It smells like retirement ending."
Darian stood from his seat, standing on the edge of the boulder, staring off towards Terminus City before turning himself to look at the skylines of the various sectors of the Digital World. Nothing....looked strange and out of place, but why could he just not shake the feeling that something bad was happening.
"I'm starting to think that retirement isn't actually real friend."

Just another place she needed to learn, to understand.
It was peaceful, it was tranquil. There wasn't a lot going on in it; sure it was pretty damn close to terminus and there would of course be some travel through it but past that? Well. The renamon herself never really had much reason to come out here, come to see what there was and simply just. Well. Be here.
K scratched her head a little bit as the wind passed through her white fur, dragging along that red cloak and making a soft sound as it worked around her goggles. There was an odd air of change here; something that she herself had picked up on a long time back but... She was just now really feeling it here. It was that odd sense that you could never quite get rid of when you had done so much.
She had felt this same sort of wind during her time as an innkeeper but she had ignored it then. Shaking her head and going back to her life; here she just kept walking. Flicking her ears as she heard two distinct voices just over the hill the renamon figured why not see who it could be?
The digital world was a big place and there were still many people she hadn't met. Varying in strength and stature as all do. Cresting the hill she'd blink and stare for a moment before giving a small wave to the two she saw.
"Afternoon."

While Darian was both tense, and a highly aware person thanks to previous experience, it was Gabe whose ears had perked up when the new person had arrived in the area. His holo-suited form took a few quick whiffs before returning to his sandwich. Smelled like a Digimon, didn't smell hostile though. Gabe figured it was probably fine.
"New person incoming." "Heh?"
It was at this moment that K had crested the smaller hill, now visible to both Darian and Gabe. Darian cocked his head slightly. He had seen a lot of Digimon in his life, but this one he didn't recognize to his surprise. Though she didn't seem to be any sort of hostile, and even greeted them politely. He supposed he'd bite.
"Hey there." he responded sullenly, waving slightly, still distracted just as Gabe also stood up.
"Howdy!" the friendly holosuited Digimon greeted as he moved towards the new presence.
Darian tensed slightly, he was always surprised by how quickly Gabe was to trust new people. But he knew Gabe could also handle himself in almost an instant if things were about to turn dire. He trusted his partner's instinct, allowing his shoulders to relax and his jaw to unclench as he spoke.
"What brings you to this seemingly random point of the plains? Sorry to say you've stumbled upon an almost finished lunch."

K stretched a little bit; tilting her head slightly when one returned the wave along with a sullen greeting. The next standing up and gave her quite a friendly greeting. She'd blink slightly and scratched at her head; was one of them a digimon? It was hard to tell in the digital world but she got an honest to god vibe from one of them.
It wasn't terribly important honestly; human or digimon didn't much matter to her. They were denizens of the digital world one way or another. She'd give a slight bow and tilt her head slightly at the sullen one's question.
"Ah, I apologize for interrupting your meal. Just sort of exploring around. Afraid I'm not too familiar with this area as much as I should be so I figured why not fix that if I'm going to be spending more time here. Easier to mark up patrols and such if you know the lay of the land."
With her home being split between Vander tower and the Great moving Library well. The renamon had quite a large array of places that she could access one way or another. Not to mention that if the knights ever had to set up camp here they'd need to know about it too. She'd rub at her neck quietly staring at the two; trying to get a better read of them. They didn't seem hostile or unfriendly; just simply enjoying a meal with a stranger just seemingly appearing out of now where. A role she was not unused to, but... it was something that hadn't happened in a long time.
"Past the meal, what about you two?"

Darian caught a few notes of interest in the new Digimon's wording. Saying words like patrol and learning the lay of the land of the area. Interesting, could this Digimon be a warrior of sorts? A guardian? Either way, she did appear to be trustworthy. Though, maybe it'd be worth finding out some more information.
"Patrols? This area usually need constant patrolling?" Darian questioned.
"I mean you yourself said that something seemed weird about the area." Gabe interjected, not allowing Darian to be even slightly accusatory.
"I just mean....well, you would think so close to Terminus there wouldn't be any need."
Darian fixed his tone slightly. He didn't mean to sound so accusatory but there was still that small sense of dread that there was something bad going on in the Digital World that he hadn't heard about yet. Something that would soon require attention.
"We were just visiting to be honest. It's been a while since we've been back to the Digital World."
"Yeah, y'know, like...make sure nothing's being blown up by colossal Machinedramon's type things. To which the place does seem fine...kinda."
"The most accurate description of this is definitely kinda. Tell me, does the area seem...quieter than usual? Like something's happened and nobody's said anything about it?"

"Not usually. But with all that's been going on, can't hurt to be prepared."
The renamon gave a small shrug of her shoulders; as far as it went knowing the layout of a location like this near a city would also help if trouble reared it's ugly head. Whether from a small team of bandits to the D-reaper themselves it didn't hurt in the slightest to know it. And setting up patrols could also hurry along communications to places they sorely needed it.
"If anything being near a big city would need that sort of thing, you never know who or what will be around the next corner. So to say."
K sighed a little bit and shook her head; she'd tilt her head slightly and mull over what they had said just a few moments prior. So they had been discussing something in a similar vein then? Or it just happened to link up nicely? There was a simple nod to the one that answered her query.
"Lots of human things to take care of, I understand."
The renamon paused however when the one that was closer to her made mention of making sure nothing was going to get blown up which only ended up making her chuckle. Then she was given a question of her own to answer; one that gave her thoughtful pause. She simply stood there, feeling that wind tug on her fur or cape.
"There's been a lot happening in the digital world that's been making it seem a lot more tense. Lots of threats popping up wherever you look, places seeming like they're getting ready for something big. Hard to really tell what; but something."
K scratched at her muzzle and stared quietly at the two of them. She didn't know exactly what these two would be about; but she got the sort of vibe they weren't her enemy. If they had been well... they wouldn't be talking here.
"I don't suppose you'd be against sharing your names? It's been a bit since I've been to the human world itself, so I apologize for my rustiness of human social norms."

The words 'can't hurt to be prepared' resonated with Darian on a spiritual level. Everything that he had done these past ten years as a tamer, every fight he'd been in, injury gained, muscle torn...every single one was a lesson in preparation. Hell, it's gotten to the point where Darian was so ready for a fight that if K wanted to swing at him right now he could probably twitch a Biomerge Digivolution in under a second...Hm....was that a form of PTSD?
Both Darian and Gabe chuckled at the mention that being near a big city would actually warrant some denser security. To be honest, she was right. From what Darian remembered of Terminus's security back when he was a fugitive, they could probably use a little help. He took several of them out pretty easily and he was holding back from actually killing any of them at the time.
What a strange memory..
Their question was soon answered though. Apparently the aura of strangeness going around the Digital World wasn't just Darian being paranoid. There was tension? Something big was going to happen? Sounded like a war was brewing. What the hell had they missed? Darian caught Gabe glancing at him, a slight smirk masking a worried expression.
"It's definitely starting to sound like we're gonna need to go back to work soon."
"..Yeah"
Darian's reminiscing was quickly interrupted when their new Digimon friend had requested their names. Right...manners. Those were things that he should still try to apply to his life.
"My name's Darian. Darian Soten. A pleasure to meet you. Apparently I am also rusty on standard social norms so no worries."
Gabe chimed in immediately after, "And I'm Gabe. His better, much more consistently cheerful side."
"And you?"

K scratched at her muzzle staring quietly at the two in front of her; flicking an ear and leaning slightly as the two seemed to share a simple point with one another. One that she was left out on in some fashion or another as they chuckled. She didn't mind it; these two seemed like friends at the very least. She couldn't really put her finger on it really; but it wasn't like she could know everything anyways and that was fine.
She'd tilt her head just a little bit however when the more cheerful of the two spoke about getting to work. Were these the sort to help out around the digital world? Well. Rather. Most humans were the sort but that wasn't exactly something you asked someone at a first meeting. She'd dip her head in a simple nod at Darian's introduction which was quickly followed by Gabe's. Names she hadn't run into before, human names oddly enough. It somewhat put a clamp on the feeling that one of them was a digimon but... She knew that humans tended to give their partners names anyways.
Giving them a small halfbow with one arm in front of her, the renamon introduced herself.
"My name is K. A Knight of the Rose. It's a pleasure to meet the both of you."
Honestly it was much less to say than Apostle of Jesmon or Examon; or other simpler titles that she could of held. It was also easier to explain than her doing mercenary work and wouldn't get that nose turn that she would expect from some. A lot of people seemed to hold the mercenary type in low regard for whatever reason...

Gabe managed to catch the tiny head tilt that K did as they were talking. So it was true, they were gone from the Digital World for so long that people didn't really know who they were anymore. That actually was probably good seeing as how they were once fugitives of the Digital World wanted by Terminus City. Framed of course, but it was still a record that they had to live with.
So this person's name was K. Interesting name, most people didn't have just a single letter for a name. And also, what in the world is a Knight of the Rose? So many things have changed here, these were titles that neither of them had ever heard before but it was supposedly a title that someone now standing before them had.
With a fold of his arms and a questioning look on his face, Gabe responded,
"So what's a Knight of the Rose? I've been around for a while and have never heard of that group."
"Being a knight would also mean you're probably pretty strong, right? Are you just avoiding the places that look like they're building to a war now? Don't want to get involved?"

Honestly as far as it went her explanation could go either of two ways, really simply or a lengthy explanative that would yield several hours of this sort of talk. Figuring to cut it somewhere near the simply she'd shake her head a little bit rubbing at her muzzle thoughtfully.
"They're a newer group, in the fledgling phase for the most part. Their goals are lofty but simple."
It wasn't as though she was the one to develop the idea of this group or anything. But she wasn't going to be that sort of mon and simply pose that she was the leader of this group right out of the gate. That'd be foolish of her. Even if she counted mercenaries in the group it was small, so just saying she was the leader didn't amount to much past a simple name.
"You would be correct. But like all strength there is a limit; I aim to grow stronger still to protect as needed. To fight as needed."
She had to take a few moments to think about the second and third question. She'd furrow her brow a little bit and sigh softly. There wasn't the option of avoiding the places that were building to war, she had to get involved with all of them to act as a bridge of sorts if she could.
"A war between the major cities of the digital world would be extremely bad. My group will be dealing with larger threats and that would be one of them. I'd rather try to nip that in the bud in any way I can honestly. If I didn't want to get involved I would of simply stayed home and wait it out. But I'm far past that option; I'm not in a place that I can just simply wait. But I, along with my group will watch and act as we must."
A simple truth as it was the digimon shook her head again.
"I think what's going to happen is once these spires and D-reapers are taken care of people will try to finger the blame on other groups. In order to extend their reach. The only city that would fall out of the way for this is rosewood as it's far too young to of done anything. So old grudges will boil over. But the threats themselves are large enough to where we can't tackle that problem till it actually arrives."
