Satoshi was horrified as Indaramon ripped a utility pole out of the ground and threw the freaking thing at them. WereGarurumon, however, merely grinned as he leapt into the air and spun around. "Garuru Kick!" he shouted, unleashing an extremely powerful kick that split the giant pole in two.
"Hey!" Satoshi shouted. "We're supposed to be keeping collateral damage to a minimum!"
"Well then we'd better work quickly!" WereGarurumon retorted. "Glacial Blast!" The humanoid wolf Digimon clasped his hands together and released a huge beam of cold energy at the enemy, hoping to freeze the Indaramon out and avoid more damage to the park.

The good news was that WereGarurumon's glacial was a hit. The bad news? The thing it hit was a tree. The poor thing flash-froze, and underneath the ice most of its leaves turned brown in just a matter of seconds. The Indaramon, however, remained completely undamaged because, well, one swing of his front hooves uprooted the tree and sent it to take the hit instead of himself. "That guy's a lot more elusive than he looks!"
"Indeed. But this next shot won't miss." Scorpmon rotated the rim around his right eye slightly, which while not obvious to an observer created a heads-up display in front of that eye. Scorpmon was treated to data about wind, distance, movement, predicted patterns, and speculations about the best targets to shoot given all this data, which all glowed red in the sniper's sight. The problem? Scorpmon was rather taking his time lining up the shot.
"Scorpmon?"
"Almost."
"Clock's ticking."
"A marksman shoots best when he's calm." That jab shut the impatient General up, but Tadayoshi had a point; the time the careful sniper was taking meant WereGarugumon was still on his own against the giant horse. When the beast next opened its mouth, a quick golden electric bolt snapped at WereGarurumon. Indaramon evaded Glacial Blast.Commandramon started tracking Indaramon Tracking Sight. -Tracking Sight: This digimon keeps his right eye always watching one enemy, scouting their weak points and always being aware of their location. For three posts, this digimon's attacks against that opponent are 50% more accurate. Cooldown: 2 posts Indaramon attacked WereGarurumon with Stun Bolt. -Stun Bolt: This digimon looses a bolt of electricity that, in addition to dealing damage, overwhelms the target's nervous system, immobilizing them for one post. Cooldown: 3 posts.
Commandramon is tracking Indaramon: 3 posts remaining.
Stun Bolt must cool down: 3 posts remaining. Tracking Sight must cool down: 2 posts remaining.

WereGarurumon cursed under his breath as his Glacial Blast veered off to the side of Indaramon and crashed into a nearby tree. They were definitely going to be getting a stern talking-to about collateral damage from Sophie later, as if the utility pole damage wasn't enough to begin with.
WereGarurumon was about to chase after the enemy with some close-quarters combat, but he wasn't quick enough. A bolt of electricity shot from Indaramon and coursed through WereGarurumon's body, causing him some pain and stopping his movement entirely.
"No!" Satoshi cried out. The situation was dire. He knew it was too early for the two of them to get back out in the field, but he had stubbornly decided to do it anyway. Why had he been so reckless? It wasn't like him.
WereGarurumon attempts to attack, but is stopped by Stun Bolt.

For a while there, things didn't look too good for the Tamer pair. They hadn't scored very many hits, not that the sniper was doing perfectly himself. In either case, this fight had to be brought to an end - immediately. The collateral was too great. Luckily the most lethal assassin in all of AEGIS (or so Tadayoshi liked to believe of his sniper partner) was beside him, and with that tracking ability he was locked on to the horse's digicore. All he needed was the shot to be clear. For him, it was a boon that the werewolf was stopped in his tracks; it meant he wasn't in the bullet's path.
"Firing." Bang! Whiz! WereGarurumon might have heard the high-pitched whistle of the bullet zooming concerningly close past one ear, but with this expert marksman he was not in any real danger. The same could not be said for Indaramon, however. That was because Scorpmon's perfect shot flew true, and without a single obstruction between it and the target it got where it wanted to be: straight through Indaramon's digicore.
The horse didn't even live long enough to cry in pain. Satoshi, WereGarurumon, and Scorpmon only got a very brief glance at the huge hole in the horse's chest before he became nothing but harmless powdery data. However, that data did not disperse neatly into the air like it tended to. Instead, some of it flew in a completely other direction without dissipating; the killer was loading some of the enemy's data for self-empowerment. "Target neutralized."
"What are you doing?"
"Preventing a repeat offender."
"Wha- no!" Tadayoshi grabbed his own digimon by the barrel of his rifle to get his attention. "Captain, it's over! Let him go home and forget!" Scorpmon glanced at Tadayoshi out of the corner of his one real eye... and stopped collecting data, letting the remainder return to whence it came. The General sighed in relief. "Thank you."
"Go check on our allies." Tadayoshi didn't need any telling twice.
Tadayoshi ran up to Tadayoshi and Weregarurumon and shouted, "Satoshi! WereGarurumon! Everyone OK?" he was soon followed by Commandramon, Renamon, and MetalKoromons Alpha through Hotel, the ones who made up Scorpmon in the first place.
Scorpmon attacked Indaramon with Perfect Shot. -Perfect Shot: This digimon has found its opponent's weakest point and sends a penetrator round straight at it. The impeccable accuracy behind the shot and immense energy carried by the metal round make this shot extremely lethal. Limit: Once per thread. Indaramon was hit by Perfect Shot. Indaramon was killed and partially downloaded.
Acquired data for X3 Incomplete Xros: Assaultmon.

WereGarurumon braced the best he could for an attack, but it never came. There was a quick noise that was quickly perceived to be a bullet that whizzed millimeters past the wolf's right ear, which twitched perfectly in time to avoid being grazed. In an instant, Indaramon was down and out, and Scorpmon appeared from the back to absorb part of the enemy's data before it disappeared.
Satoshi was a bit surprised by the move. He hadn't come across a situation like this in the field yet, but had done some prior research. Loading a Digimon's data was fatal, even to creatures that would often reincarnate. Luckily, Tadayoshi seemed to stop Scorpmon from completely absorbing the enemy's data, letting it pass back peacefully to the Digital World.
With the situation cleared, WereGarurumon gave a sigh and returned to his Rookie form. He took a moment to catch his breath before returning to his Tamer, his head hanging low. "I'm sorry," he said. "I guess I'm more out of practice than I thought."
Satoshi frowned. It wasn't like Gabumon to admit that he had screwed up, but the mess wasn't entirely his fault. The young man sighed and put a hand on his partner's shoulder. "If you're out of practice, then I was never in practice. We both have a long way to go, but it's a journey we need to take together. I know the two of us have different pursuits, but maybe it's time for the two of us to actually...get to know each other a little better? Find some common ground?" As he finished his sentence, his eyes widened a bit. It seemed he wasn't expecting to say something quite so heavy, but perhaps it was necessary.
Gabumon stared back up at his human partner, eyes wide with understanding. "Yes, I think you're right, Toshi. Let's get stronger together, no matter what we do!"
At this point, Tadayoshi and the rest of his squad approached, checking to see if the two of them were alright. "I think we'll manage," Satoshi assured them. "Sorry for the trouble we caused. It's been some time since we were in the field, and I guess we're a bit rustier than we thought. We just wanted to set such a good example for you newbies that we got caught up in the moment. Would it be okay if we...started over? Maybe with something a little less...intense?" He extended his hand out to Yoshi, hoping for an amiable handshake.

"Should be thanking you, I think. That was a big one who could have done a lot more damage, not to mention we might not have stopped him at all without your help. Scorpmon operates best with a partner like WereGarurumon. This would have gone a lot worse if you weren't here." Satoshi would go on to receive the handshake he expected, not only from the rookie Tadayoshi but from the lizard soldier as well. The MetalKoromon all made a few indecipherable beeping noises, but their general pitch and tone seemed to be positive. Renamon was still reserved and didn't engage or speak, but considering that was her normal behavior that hardly meant anything.
"I'd be glad to start over if you really want, but I don't know if they'll even let my team stay if our first mission ended up like..." Tadayoshi gestured to the destruction behind himself. "In any case, we'd better report to Miss James. And we'd better do it before witnesses come back, too."
