The Great Unagi(mon) [Asher] [Career]

If only Amy had stated aloud that her taste in cars wasn't particularly fancy. Asher would have gestured at the vehicle that she had pulled out of a digivice! Not fancy, huh? Did she even notice what she was driving?
Either way, her input had the possibility of stopping Asher from getting something too flashy. After all, the redhead had terrible tastes for expensive toys. It was hard to say if he could control an impulse buy when Digital Funds felt a lot easier to obtain than that in the human world!
Though, maybe expensive tastes could explain why he felt that it was a totally normal suggestion for a flashy dress. Yellow eyes watched Amy's reaction, while he tried to hide a mischievous smile. While there was an urge to drop the ever-so-lam 'you'd look great in anything' line, Asher wasn't going to be that cringe-worthy! He'd save lines like that for fifteen year old boys with no experience with girls. "We could find out," he hummed, thoughtfully, "I think red or black sequins would look good." Then, a pause, while the smile finally curled on his lips, "I could probably get us into an event where you'd be able to wear one, too."
It was never wise to cut all ties to the 'actor' lifestyle, after all. And a fancy event, wearing a fancy dress, sounded pretty fancy! Asher would probably stick to something not sequin-covered, though!
And, after all this 'confession time', fancy events would give Asher more opportunities to call Amy pretty! If events wouldn't make Amy even more nervous-looking than she had been at the thought of wearing shiny clothes!
Though, he could really go for some more jokes. After all, serious conversations like this weren't really his cup of tea. He'd much rather Earl Grey tea. Or coffee. Or...
Okay, he was getting sidetracked.
Luckily, the conversation seemed to be going better than he could have expected! Eyes met, as Amy took -- and then released -- his hand, and placed her 'condition' into the open. Body tensed slightly as she leaned in to whisper. Though, after hearing her out, the redhead could only give a small chuckle. "Fair enough," he murmured.
And then! Amy was running!
But, before he could even laugh about that, she was... gone! What had happened? "Tell a girl you like her, and she disappears," he commented under his breath, jokingly. "Typical." Could Amy hear him? Probably not. Especially as he neared her vanishing point.
One foot pressed on the ground ahead of the other, before body tensed again. Did the ground feel off? Lowering his gaze, the redhead pressed his lips tightly together. Maybe it was just the terrain since they were walking to the shore? That was probably the case. The initial urge would be chalked up to paranoia, though the next couple of steps forward would be taken with a notable amount of hesitancy.
Even if it was a trap, Asher would have press forward to find Amy, wouldn't he? No point in delaying the inevitable, after all!

Funny how the next thing they planned to do next was buying a car of all things; not something conventional to do for what probably would be their... fourth or fifth outing, maybe? Not like she was counting those or anything! But still, it seemed like something interesting to do.
Just to be one-upped by the possibility of yet another, more formal outing. It wasn't like going out to buy a car wouldn't end in a funny note or be a perfectly good 'date', if it could be called that! It was just that something... fancier, for the lack of a better word, had a very special allure to it. The brunette couldn't but naturally felt drawn in. "Find out?" Her tone was still sounded both a bit surprised and slightly giddy at the proposition. "I guess it wouldn't be a bad thing. Better at some point than never, right?"
Pointless to try and be coy about it. What could she say? Whether by sheer luck or actually reading the mood, Asher had managed to make her look forward to something.
It was funny how a good deal of the previous tension had evaporated so quickly. Truthfully, there was still a remnant of it, but the brunette had no reason to dwell in it. She was confident on the nascent couple's ability to settle their differences in the way they've always done.
And that meant... it would probably be an excruciatingly slow process, but everything would work out in the end! Or at least, that's what Amy'd like to believe! The flip side was that, thus far, she hadn't been given any reason to think otherwise, and that was she wasn't very concerned about the whole deal.
But... there wasn't really enough time to ponder any of those words, mostly because from one moment to the next, Amelie had completely vanished from sight. Luckily for the redhead, there was no reaction towards his words, even if the sand itself seemed to become slightly, but progressively looser the more he advanced. To a casual observer, the chance would be imperceptible, but it was very real.
Eventually, Asher would stumble into what could be described as an opening. Or a trap from a particularly big antlion; normally concealed at plain sight, the fall of a certain brunette had unveiled it. Go. Fitting in, or observing through the opening wasn't particularly hard; if the young adult peered into it, he would discern something alike to... a shallow underground cave. And its lone inhabitant, making a face of mild discomfort as she proceeded to stand up and rub her pained behind.
"Owwww..." She muttered, mostly to herself. Luckily, it hadn't been a rough fall. Apparently, it seemed like she wasn't aware of the fact that Asher might've been watching the display. In fact! Amy took a keen interest on a wall that would be out of the redhead's line of sight and proceeded to walk into that direction.
What would be there? Probably up to Asher to jump or just ask!

It was almost a little surprising to hear the tone that Amy took on, at the idea of wearing a fancy dress and going to a fancy event. "You guess?" Asher teased, before giving a thoughtful hum, "then I guess I should make a couple of phone calls when I'm back home." Was he seriously going to find an event for her to dress up for?
It wouldn't be that much of a stretch.
And, as conversation evolved, it could make for a fun date, at that. Hopefully, the redhead wouldn't forget about the conversation by the time he'd gotten home! That was, if Amy didn't break any bones from falling into holes, before they could even get home!
Carefully walking through the sand, if only to be sure he didn't slip, the teen would eventually find his way to the cause of Amy's disappearance. Oh, good. Nothing had eaten her! And she seemed to be more or less okay! What a relief. "Are you alr--"
Where was she going now?
Leaning over the hole, the teen established there was no chance he'd be able to see whatever she did from here! Was it safe to jump into the hole? Probably not! But! He was going to anyway! What was the point in experiencing anything if he wasn't actually experiencing it? Plus, Amy seemed a bit too distracted by whatever it was for him to really trust that she would even answer him, if he asked what she'd seen!
So, without wasting another moment, the redhead jumped into the potential trap. Hopefully, he wouldn't regret the decision.

By now, the face, expressions, tone, and words the girl was employing couldn't be more dissonant. Even a casual observer could tell that Amy was positively excited at the prospect of being at a fancy party accompanied by a cute guy who happened to like her. Yet... "I mean, if you really want to do it, it wouldn't bother me..."
Saying that her voice was barely hiding said excitement was an overstatement. Only somebody incapable of hearing wouldn't be able to tell her attempt was a thinly-veiled —if it could even be called that— way of trying to remain cool in the face of it. "I would have to buy the dress since I don't have anything like that in my wardrobe, but... I guess that's part of the fun, isn't it? You could help me choose, if you want!"
Was that a trap? At least according to Tobi, any time a woman invited a man to 'go shopping', that was some kind of elaborate attempt at murdering them through boredom. Then again, he wasn't forced to go if he didn't want...
Even though the brunette would surely appreciate it if he did.
Logically, Amelie's brain stopped dancing around that topic as soon as she found herself within what seemed like a hidden cavern directly under the beach. Given how her gaze was fixated a massive mural currently decorating the cavern's wall, it took her a couple of seconds to notice Asher's descent. As soon as she did, however, she quickly gestured at it.
"I think we have a lead!" She exclaimed eagerly, before taking the redhead's hand and leading him to a particular section of the work. There, it could be observed how an unidentified digimon that resembled a pretty big eel fought against a relatively better-known species; a Plesiomon X. It seemed like the result of the fight forced the unnamed digimon into hiding. Their numbers had dwindled, and now it was this specimen's responsibility to ensure the continuity of its species.
It had decided to go into hiding, using a massive underground cave as a refuge for itself, its young and many unborn eggs. "Do you think we're on that cave? And if we are, should we go deeper? We don't know if that digimon will be hostile to us or not."
In her excitement, Amy had totally forgotten to let go of Asher's hand. Totally unintentional!

It was hard not to grin at Amy's reactions to the idea of the event. It was something that he hadn't really been able to experience on many 'dates' faces! After all, it wasn't like past relationships were unfamiliar with 'fancy parties or dinners,' considering their own upbringings. So, to see and hear Amy's response to the idea was completely new. And completely cute.
So cute, in fact, that Asher wasn't going to groan about the thought of going clothes shopping! "Sure," he answered, without any hesitance. Worst case, he'd be stuck outside of a changing room while playing games on his phone, for half of the shopping trip, right? Best case, he'd get Amy to pick something out that she wouldn't otherwise! Something especially shiny! "I'm sure you'll find something that looks great."
Though, once they were within a hole in the ground, things were a bit too complicated to talk about what kind of dress Amy would buy! Or, maybe, everything was actually simple. The murals seemed to be pretty easy to understand the story behind, after all! And the hand-holding couldn't go unnoticed! Simple things to understand! Sort of. But, the focus was on murals right now! "You could write a full article just from this, alone," he murmured, looking over the work. But, Amy's question seemed like a pretty valid one.
"Probably," he responded, after a second of thought. "It would make the most sense on why there are pictures about it." Then again, would someone have actually marked the exact cave? It might be far-fetched! "If we don't, we'll never find out if it's still alive." Or real, for that matter! "If it's angry, we'll just try to leave before we upset it too much." That was totally flawless logic, right?
"Or, if you're worried," the redhead trailed off, giving a small squeeze to Amy's hand, and flashing a grin, "I can always give a spiel about how I'll never let anything hurt you, and go the 'prince in shining armor' route!" Oh god. Nobody wanted to hear Asher pretending to be That Guy! With any luck, by now Amy would be able to tell that Asher wasn't being that seriously cheesy! Save that kind of speech for in the movies!
That said... "Do you want to see if it's here?"

Amelie looked positively radiant at Asher's affirmative response. A fair bit of time had passed since her last shopping trip! Or, at least one that implied buying fancy clothes and not food or other basic necessities. One last smile graced her face. "Hope we'll be able to find something! Wouldn't want to cause the wrong impression at a fancy party..."
Were those insecurities coming from somebody in the was handling a titanic project with the utmost confidence? Who would've thought!
Shopping or self-consciousness regarding formal events would have to wait for later, however. Right now, the couple was focused on something else. A lead regarding the mystery in front of them and a simple question; should they continue? Or had they seen enough? The redhead's statement was correct; they had more than enough information at the moment. Yet...
They say curiosity killed the cat; Amy wasn't one, but she sure was pretty close at the moment! "I could but... where's the fun in that if I can't get the full story of what happened?" She wasn't denying that the mural was pretty amazing on its own right, though. Shortly after her initial reply, the brunette was already taking some pictures of it, making sure to get as many details as possible. Chances were that she'd miss some valuable information until examining the pictures more closely.
And, to say the least, here and now wasn't the ideal situation to do so, especially considering... "I think I'd like getting to the bottom of this mystery. I wouldn't be able to sleep without knowing if this unnamed digimon thrived or not."
The young adult's gesture was reassuring, and even though the situation had its measure of seriousness, a small bout of laughter at how ridiculous Asher could be was impossible to avoid. "Something like a 'Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you' type of speech, right? At least I can say that your hair and Rick Astley's are more or less the same color! Wonder if that's just a coincidence..."
Having had her quota of fun, she nodded. "Let's go. If there's anything too dangerous ahead, we'll just head back, okay? No need to take needless risks."
Said and done, and still without letting go of that hand, Amelie began to advance. The passage got progressively darker and humid; soon enough, every bit of natural light would abandon the pair completely, forcing the brunette to bring out a flashlight. Only then, the cave would begin expanding into what seemed like a massive underground chamber with a small lake in its center. Surprisingly, it was completely deserted, at least in appearance.
And a bit scary, to boot! Hundreds of eggs littered the chamber, even though all of them displayed obvious cracks and opening along their bodies. The sight managed to take Amy's breath away. "A... nursery? It looks abandoned, though. Think the digimons moved elsewhere?"
Slowly, she would begin traversing the space. Was there anything of note besides the broken eggs? It'd take her a bit of time to find out...

If only Asher had time to reassure the brunette about her insecurities for fancy parties and dresses! Another time, surely! Probably, when they went shopping for said dress. Or on the way to whatever event he could find.
Instead, he had to make sure Amy wouldn't get cold feet over solving a mystery for her article! At least her hesitancy didn't last very long! "Exactly that speech! No singing, though," he added, quickly. The addition on hair made the teen pull on a strand of his hair, giving a thoughtful hum, "I'll leave it a mystery." Not that there was actually any mystery there!
The mystery was still with these strange Digimon, after all. They didn't need more than that for today! "Sounds like a plan." Whatever would make Amelie more comfortable with the situation, Asher would surely agree. After all, it was her article, and her experience with a possibly extinct species!
Walking hand-in-hand to the new chamber, the redhead tried to look around, outside of the flashlight's field of view. Granted, even with his eyes attempting to adjust, it wasn't doing him much good. At least, once they were in egg-filled area, he was pretty sure that all he would see were broken eggs. "Maybe," Asher would answer, letting go of Amy's hand so that she could roam more easily. "How long do you think these eggs have been here?" Or, unused, really. That was the more important question! But, would they be able to tell?
Instead of examining eggs, with no idea what he was really looking for, the teen would walk toward the lake. Once there, he'd tap his shoe at the edge of the water, to try to make the water ripple. Was it very deep? For a minute, he debated finding a rock to drop into the water. "But, where would they have gone to?"
It didn't seem like there would be many places a big eel monster could hide, after all! Maybe, there were more places that these monsters could be inside the cave! Or, maybe they had all died.
Surely, they had to be able to find something out from this room, right?

Everything was good in the world when a teasing remark was answered with another. It was true that implying Asher was rickrolling her wasn't very teasy, but that was fine. Amelie didn't mind having fun at her own expense every now and then.
"I guess that finding out what happened here isn't the only mystery I'll have to solve today." She mused with a smirk. "But, for now, we probably have more pressing concerns."
Focus! Truthfully, the duo were on a quest to find an ancient digimon, not old memes of dubious quality. And that was why, ultimately, the couple had ended in the abandoned hatchery of sorts. The sight was as impressive as it came, but its perceived emptiness was overwhelming as well. The sheer number of broken eggs couldn't but stir her mind in regards to how many digimons had been in this place at the same time, and made her wonder why all of them had abandoned this place.
Eventually, both humans separated, and while Amy tried to find any clues among the remnants of the egg field, Asher tried his luck with the lagoon. Seemingly small, there was way more to it than its outward appearance. It was deep; and, if the redhead had the tools to, he would discern that there was a tunnel of sorts at the lake's bottom; cleverly hidden between the rocks that made it, it seemed deceptively big.
Whether he found that or not, the brunette would eventually return from her stroll through the cave; cradled in between her arms, she looked like she was holding something! "Any luck? I think I found something!"
What was there? The answer was probably rather obvious; the teenager had managed to find an egg that seemed to be completely intact! "I don't know how old it is, or if it has any chances of hatching at all, but I figured that this little guy would be safer with me than abandoned in this place. Well, at least if this place is truly abandoned. I'm not totally sure, even if everything points to that."
Hearing Asher's opinion in the matter would be interesting. Would he be okay with Amy 'borrowing' an egg? Did he have any input regarding the strange lake or the possibility of a sudden visitor?

This cavern seemed to be a bit more important than rickrolling Amy. And, Asher actually wasn't too concerned about old memes, anyway! Or new ones, in most cases. Memes were a bit...
Wait. Stop being distracted.
Whatever tool may be needed to explore the depths of the lake would be lost on the teen. Even if he did have the necessary equipment, he didn't necessarily want to look absolutely insane by taking a random swim in his clothes! Or ditch Amy at the surface, in the case it was as deep as he was beginning to suspect. After a moment, he'd pick a small stone off the ground, and toss it into the water, watching it completely disappear.
And then, another moment, before he'd kneel by the lake, and put his hand in. Then up to his elbow. And almost to his shoulder, before discomfort and imbalances would set in, and the redhead quickly moved away from the liquid to avoid falling. "Mm," he hummed, taking a breath.
He really shouldn't jump into the lake. Don't do it.
Luckily, Amy would come over before he could cave into poor decision making. And... she had an egg? "What are you going to do if it hatches?" Was the first thing Asher could even think to say. Digimon could get pretty large. And, who knew what size it would hatch at! If it could hatch, that was.
"There's not much to find," he admitted, finally getting around to Amy's first question. "This lake's pretty deep. But, I can't tell if it's deep enough," the teen commented, while flicking his wrist to try to shake some water from the arm he had been using as some form of measurement. Which, would lead right into Amy's comment of thinking the place was abandoned! "This might be a bit of a leap, but," he paused, debating just how crazy the suspicion may be, "there has to be another way in and out of this cave, doesn't there? I doubt the monster was just falling into holes like we did."
And eels were usually associated with water, weren't they?
Digimon were weird, though. For all he knew, the eel monster had wings and just flew out of the same exact place that they had entered from! But, if there was another exit, it could lead them to more clues! Unless it involved drowning, at least.

It was funny how, the first question directed at Amy after she returned was regarding the egg's destiny, should it hatch. Her initial response? A rather impish smirk graced her features as her gaze slowly went from it to Asher's eyes. "Well... sorry for not telling you earlier, but you're a father now. Congratulations!" Despite the alarming implication, the brunette couldn't avoid giggling at her own remark. "Pity I don't know if it's a boy or a girl just yet. But I figured out that if their parents aren't in this place, and whatever's inside the egg is still alive, the right thing to do would be to get this little one to a safe place at the very least. That's what a caring mother would do, right?"
Whether the redhead approved of the plan or not, that was fine. Her comments were meant mostly as a joke; Amy wouldn't burden anyone with taking care of a newborn if they didn't want to. If the egg was even able to hatch. The fact that it had been the only one she found that hadn't hatched yet meant that the chances of that happening weren't very high, all things considered.
That wasn't their main priority at the moment, however. Asher's discovery had been no less exciting. The lake of sorts was way deeper than what anyone had expected. And maybe... "Do you think there's a passage or something that connects the lagoon to the sea? That would be very interesting."
The teenager seemed thoughtful for a second, almost as if she were trying to make her mind regarding what to do with that information. There was a measure of worry and a tinge of fear in her expression, but those were a bit expected, considering what she was about to propose.
"What you mean is that you... want to take a dip and find out, don't you? That's pretty bold." Yet, it seemed like that was the last piece necessary to assemble the weird puzzle in front of them. "I guess can dive with you; is any of your spirits a good swimmer, or are we going to do this the old-fashioned way? I'm fine with either."
Or maybe Asher decided that doing something like that was too dumb or reckless? Maybe those had just been idle thoughts, for all what she knew.

"You know, most guys get about eight months advance notice about these sorts of things," Asher pointed out, as deadpan as possible. "Do I get you flowers, or do you get me flowers for this sort of occasion?" Were flowers proper for the situation? Who really knew! Asher sure didn't! But, at least it was clear that he was joking! But, was Amy calling herself the eel-egg's mom? Asher wasn't sure if this was a good sign or a worrying one! "Are you going to keep it? Or take it to the Village of Beginnings?" It was hard to say what Amy's intent was!
"If you keep it, it's only right that I help pick a name for it, though. Since I'm a dad now, and all," he added, with a small smirk. At least he seemed to be taking it pretty well, all things considered!
Could a lake like this reach into the ocean, though? It was hard to say. Asher wasn't entirely sure where it would go! Just like he wasn't sure how it would go if they ended up diving into the depths! "None of them are aquatic, that's for sure," he responded, while trying to go through his options. Antylamon might be able to swim faster, but he wasn't really sure about any of their abilities to hold their breath! "First, you run off and 'hide' in a hole. And now you want me to drown," the actor commented, skeptically. "I'm starting to think you're already trying to get rid of me!" A joke? Probably.
Drowning was also a possibility, though!
"Is one of your spirits good with swimming? Or, do you plan on jumping in like that, regardless of which I pick?" That seemed like an important question, after all! It wasn't like Antylamon would probably give him that much of an advantage underwater, either way. "And... Are you just going to leave your newfound child unattended?"
They were already irresponsible parents, and the egg hadn't even hatched! If that eel had to rely on the spirit users, with the risk of them just leaving it alone again, it was probably doomed! Unless Amy had some plan on bringing the egg swimming with them. Which, in all fairness, was probably even more irresponsible!

Asher's reasoning was sound, but... he was missing a key detail. "If it helps any, nobody told me as well! And if somebody had, it wouldn't have been as fun, anyway." Obvious enough, wasn't it? Where was the surprise? The intrigue!? Having eight months to prepare kinda ruined all that. "Flowers would be nice, though. I wouldn't mind getting flowers. Do you like flowers? I could get you some as well, if you want."
Was that a normal exchange in a situation like this? What could even be considered a normal exchange in a situation like this? Those were mostly pointless questions, considering the situation at hand. Once again, the redhead's question brought Amy's feet back to earth. "If their parents aren't here? I'm gonna take it with me. Maybe you haven't heard it, but rumor has it that some time ago, a Meicoomon paid the place a visit and... well."
At least one baby had died that day. Amelie, for some reason, couldn't bring herself to say it, even if her body language and expression made the conclusion fairly obvious. "I'm not going to entrust what might be the last remaining digimon of a species that was thought extinct to a place like that, you know? It would be careless on my part, to say the least."
Was she trusting herself more than a whole Village? It wouldn't be the most arrogant gesture coming from the brunette, for sure. "You can pick their name, though. What do you think? They're gonna be a boy or a girl? I'm actually a bit eager to see what will come out of this egg."
Diving would come to be a bit of a hassle for the couple, apparently! Or... not? "Doesn't matter if they can breathe underwater or not. As long as they can swim, and potentially get away from a dangerous situation or... fight underwater, if worst comes to worst, I think we'll be fine."
Bringing out her Infini-Store, a hand began to browse through its contents until she brought out a diving mask. How did that guy from Terminus call it? Mini Diving Kit, right? It didn't have anything mini to it, but it would do. Promptly, she offered it to him. "While the prospect of you drowning is certainly enticing, you're lucky that your girlf-." She had to make a conscious pause before finishing the word. Not yet. "The person you're dating was prepared for something like this. It adapts to any digimon form and for reasons I can't really understand, negates the effect of underwater pressure, so I guess it'll come in handy in case we get to go deep."
Amy smirked when the question rebounded back to her. "Yeah. All of them are very good divers; it's almost as if their natural habitat were the ocean's floor, or deep space, or something like that. Handy, isn't it?" Or creepy. Anyway! "Given that you'll be using the diving mask, I don't have any other choice than to evolve before diving. So watching the human me swim is out of the question; a pity, isn't it?"
There would be a lot more occasions for that to happen, luckily! "Underwater pressure alone could very well crush the egg if I took it with me. And that's probably the least of my concerns. They behaved well before we arrived; they probably can wait a little more until we return."
Irresponsible? Yes, but also the safest way to go around it, all things considered. "Or, you could stay with them if you feel like it. Your choice!"
Whether he wanted to dive with her or remain over here, elaborate ring of fractal code would begin to form around the brunette's palm. "Just two things. Don't mind how hideous they look annd... if you want to talk with me while in aberration-form, just touch me and think of what you wanna tell me. It's a bit hard at first, but I'm sure you'll get it!"
With those fair warnings issued, Amelie finally scanned the ring, evolving straight to her perfect level. The monster seemed to wait a couple of seconds, just to make sure that Asher wouldn't just run away in panic, before proceeding to slowly move towards the lake of sorts; then, it would wait for the redhead (or his evolved form, if he did that) in case he had decided to accompany her, or just dive down in case he had decided against it.

Asher was pretty sure that no guy on earth wanted a sudden surprise along the lines of 'by the way, you're a dad as of right now', but at least this was an egg, and not a human infant. Now, that would be terrifying. Honestly, they weren't even sure if this egg would hatch into something! Either way, he probably didn't need flowers for the event! Even if he was the one that had suggested it! "Then it's just a flower exchange!" Asher snickered, at the thought of both of them buying flowers for the other, "what are your favorite flowers?" Did that mean Asher was intending on getting them? Only way to find out was if Amy actually told him!
Or, it was just going to be a useless piece of knowledge until he had to apologize to her again, or something.
"A Meicoomon?" Obviously, Asher hadn't heard about this. But, of all things to cause a problem for baby Digimon, it was just another Whiskers? Did Whiskers know about this event? He'd have to ask her. "If a cat can do anything to that place, I can understand." Why would cats be dangerous to babies? There were videos of cats getting cheese thrown onto their faces and falling off of tables because of it. Were felines really that dangerous?
Would the egg even hatch, though? Asher would hate to see Amy's disappointment if it never did. But, he wasn't about to point out that possibility, when she was excited about it. That said, was it a bad time to make jokes about what to name the potential baby? Because, he was really tempted to suggest 'Sushi' as a name right now. "Are you really sure that you trust me with naming them?" the redhead joked. Sure, he had wanted a part in the naming, but giving him too much power behind it was probably dangerous! But, it probably would be hard to give a name without a gender. Didn't some Digimon just not have genders at all? But, knowing any 'luck' he'd had involving Digimon... "I'm going to guess a girl. What do you think?"
As they debated Asher's ability to not drown, the teen found a new part of the conversation to pick at. A grin slipped onto his lips, as he leaned a bit closer to Amy. "I'm sorry, I thought I heard something else there for a minute. My girl-what?" He probably shouldn't push it, but it looked like he was going to! At least, for half of a second, before taking the diving kit from her. "Sounds fancy," he commented, at her explanation of the device. It definitely would prevent the drowning aspect, regardless of what he decided to do!
Though, hearing that the spirits were meant for either underwater or space made it a lot less surprising when she commented on them being hideous. So much for turning into a deer spirit, or something. But, considering he didn't really want to get his clothes wet for a second time today, and Amelie had mentioned the potential of needing to fight, it was fairly obvious that being in his current form wasn't really the smartest choice. "I'd rather trust that the egg doesn't run away on its own," he responded, with little debate. After all, if Amy saw something truly interesting underwater, and Asher missed it, he'd probably be pretty disappointed!
Once Amy had evolved, the redhead simply stared for a moment. Yeah. That definitely wasn't a deer. Or anything cute. But, he didn't have much room to judge her spirits. After all, he turned into a bunch of women. Some of which being anthropomorphic, which really might make things more embarrassing in hindsight. Fractal code would soon wrap from his hand, up his arm, and then give a small flash. In the redhead's place was what likely would be the most obvious choice. Antylamon. The rabbit silently tilted its head at the Eldritch Horror, making sure that the diving kit was properly equipped. And then, it would step to the lake, giving one last look at the other spirit user, before shrugging and jumping in. It wasn't like he could just stand there forever, staring at Amy's spirit, after all! That would just be rude!

"A flower exchange it is, then!" Amy remarked, happily. After all, who in their right mind would mind receiving flowers? Unless suffering from allergies or something of the like, it seemed like a no-brainer! Regarding her favorite flowers, though? For a second, the girl seemed somewhat pensive... mostly because her actual favorite flower couldn't be bought in Japan. Quite the inconvenience! So, instead... "I like camellias. And roses, and chrysanthemums! Any of those three is fine. What about you? Anything you'd like to get?"
Did she really think he was going to get her flowers? Maybe! Amelie was kinda unsure, even though she couldn't bring herself to get her hopes up too much! After all, one never knew when it had to do with Asher. Whether by choice or design, the guy was completely unpredictable.
But... the brunette wasn't going to dwell on matters like those, at least at the moment. Not to say it was an excuse for her to delay the eventual formalization of their not-quite-relationship. Instead, she focused on the piece of information that she had handed to Asher, and how he had reacted to it. Truth was that, the attack to the Village of the Beginnings had been a tragedy, but also... it meant that Amy's confidence on the place to take care of itself had hit rock bottom as well. Maybe too severe of an opinion, but that place had stopped being a viable alternative for her.
"Yeah, Meicoomon. You probably are familiar with how those look, even though not about how some behave in... not very savory ways. I've met a few, actually." She made a pause, thinking about the whole deal. "Thing is it doesn't take a lot to kill a baby, yet I can't help but ask myself 'who let that tragedy happen', you know? Those things shouldn't, no matter the situation or the circumstance, so that's why I kinda don't want to have anything to do with that place if I can help it."
By that point, the redhead was probably more than convinced about the brunette's stance, but that didn't matter. Amy had that side of her where she just, sometimes... talked about her convictions a bit too fiercely and just didn't feel satisfied unless she exposed the full extent of those. Probably much to Asher's dismay.
Maybe a better topic was to just talk about the potential baby's name! The mere mention of Asher wanting to 'participate' on it was enough to prompt a smile from Amy. By now, she knew all too well the kind of game that he was playing at the moment; and, for one, wasn't going to play into it. "I think you're good at names." A smile confirmed that statement as truthful, even if it slowly morphed into a smirk. "And, besides, I can always dismiss your name as 'not good enough' if it's not good enough!"
A snicker confirmed that she wasn't being serious! Or that she was? It was hard to tell! In any case, when facing the question of whether the baby would be a boy or a girl, the short answer was... "I have no idea. No matter the gender, I just hope they won't take after their dad because... having one Asher is already more than enough. But since not choosing wouldn't be as fun, I'm gonna guess it'll be a boy. That way, one loses and the other wins; simple and easy, right? Maybe we should bet on it or something!"
Obviously enough, she wouldn't be the only one teasing in this small exchange. Asher had picked on her untimely lapsus, causing Amy's cheeks to flare on a bright shade of red, even if she didn't lose her composure... at least until she finished her explanation. The color had receded a bit, even if the embarrassment remained there.
A small pause ensued. "You were probably hearing things." Nope, that wasn't convincing at all. If anything, it would probably end up her being teased even more, but, at least right now, Amelie was out of witty comebacks! "If I were you, I wouldn't push your luck. Or else." That sounded better; Asher could take it as just an empty threat, but at least it looked better than her just trying to grasp for an answer.
In any case, the duo were ready to dive! After leaving the egg in a relatively safe space, Amy had evolved, and Asher had followed suit soon afterward. Their choice made, Heraldmon dove down, looking to see what secrets the lake hid
Which was succesful, in a sense! A giant boulder seemed to block a hidden passageway at the bottom. It'd take the aberration a fair bit of effort —or maybe less if Antylamon helped—, but ultimately, the way was cleared. Once again, it advanced through the newfound tunnel, at least until the digimon noticed that it began to ascend; that was Heraldmon's cue to stop.
If Antylamon was near, a lone tendril would try to poke at her. If succesful, the digimon would hear a voice inside her mind, which sounded like Amelie's... just with the exception, it was heavily distorted and almost incomprehensible.
This passage leads to open seas. Guess we have all the answers we were looking for. Wanna head back?

Oh no, was Amy really going to buy Asher flowers? That might be weird. Or flattering. The redhead wasn't really sure! Giving a snicker and a shake of the head, the teen quickly responded with, "you don't need to get me flowers." What if Whiskers ate them, after all? Couldn't some flowers make cats really sick? Did Whiskers eat plants like dumb cats? Some days, Asher wasn't really sure just how feline Whiskers could be!
"What color flowers do you like?" Most flowers came in a variety of colors, right? Asher was almost positive he'd seen literal rainbow-colored roses before. Hopefully 'rainbow' wasn't the color Amy would pick, but who really knew?
Either way, as topics carried on and explanations were given on the murder of a baby-mon, it seemed like it made enough sense that she wouldn't trust a village where babies were killed. Though, it was still baffling that a Meicoomon of all things would be the murderer. Then again, Asher wasn't really familiar with how corrupt it seemed the data of the average Meicoomon was. Maybe, he'd gotten lucky with Whiskers. Even if she was an anomaly in her own way! "Are there many caretakers there?" In hindsight, weren't there only, what, two? For god-knows how many babies? They seemed understaffed. They needed to hire new hands! Or paws, maybe. Tentacles? Whatever.
Just like how Amy should hire a new mind for names! "We could name them Sushi," Asher suggested, unable to resist the joking idea any longer. Ah well, he had tried! Sort of. "Is it good enough?" No. No, it was not. Or! They could name it Wasabi. Middle name? Beer. Wasabi Beer. Flawless.
Which was exactly why Asher could not argue with Amy's dreams that the 'child' wouldn't take after him! "But if they do! You'll always be reminded of me. Isn't that sweet?" Pitch raised a little at the last word, trying to make it as sickeningly 'lovey' as possible before it could make him want to gag. Granted, it wasn't too much. Too many sweets would surely make the ex-actor sick. Either way, was Amy serious about betting? That could be fun! Or disastrous, considering how previous deals had panned out! "What kind of bet are you thinking?"
Who would win, if they did?
Maybe, that was a better place to test his luck, instead of with words. While lips were curved into a smug smirk, he managed to say nothing that he figured would dig a grave! "Hmmm-- I feel like I might have some spare luck," there was a thoughtful pause, "but I'd rather save it for that bet." Probably a wise choice. And a wise 'investment'!
Something to think about another time, though! For now, they'd be busy hoping they didn't come face-to-face with any angry sea creatures! Maybe, there was plenty of luck to go around, though, since nothing seemed interested in lashing out yet! In fact, the swim seemed pretty uneventful! Seeing Amelie's monstrosity working to move a boulder, the beast spirit would swim over, attempting to assist in speeding up the process. Soon, the rabbit would follow after Heraldmon, through the tunnel, until the aberration stopped.
There wasn't much further to properly explore, was there?
'Hearing' Amy through the water and through its mind, there was a twitch in the rabbit's ear, as if the beast itself wanted to comment. But, it refrained. Or, was repressed? Sometimes, it was hard to define. Either way, the response back would clearly belong to Asher.
Sure. I don't think we're going to find anything if we headed out. Or would they have? Who knew. But, if they were in the open waters, it would be difficult to probably find their way back to this tunnel, and it probably wasn't a worthwhile risk!
So, if Heraldmon was ready to turn around, Antylamon would also begin their return through the tunnel and to their starting point.
