Amy herself didn't know whether she was supposed to smirk or to shrug at Asher's words. He really could be so strange at times, at least in regards to this kind of things. In the end, she couldn't but smile slightly at the exchange.
“That's a strange name for a flower, if you ask me.” A pensive hum denoted some seriousness on that statement. “How do they look? Can you show me a picture?”
Now that she thought about it, it really wouldn't be surprising if there was a species of flower called 'You don't have to get me flowers’ in the Digital World. It wouldn't be the weirdest thing she had seen, all things considered.
What about the question that came next, then? That one was easy! The brunette didn't even doubt before answering. “Red. The brighter the red is, the better. I actually don't like roses all that much because their red's a bit… dark? If that makes any sense; if not, I'm just plain weird.”
Because that hadn't been obvious the whole time, right? Who could've guessed that. “Do you like any color in particular?”
Whether that question remained unanswered or not, the topics would just follow their natural course; this time, ending on a simple question regarding the caretakers of the Village. Was there only one, or were there many? Truth to be told…
“I have no idea, to be honest.” Amelie answered, somewhat dismissively. “And, in a sense, couldn't care less about that. If there's only one caretaker, then whoever is in charge of managing that place is being really neglectful of the babies. And if there are many… then the lot of them are doing a really lousy job at taking care of the babies. Neither case would speak too well of the place or its administration.”
Was she being too critical? Of course! But that was somewhat expected, considering that the safety of babies or really young digimon was in the line. Any less would be just not caring. And Amy was somebody who tended to care a lot!
Just like she cared about their baby's future name. An eyebrow was raised at the first suggestion. “Sushi?” The brunette parroted, a bit intrigued at the choice. “I guess that if you want to traumatize them forever, that'd work! But, if you really wanna use it…”
Was she really going to endorse such a name? A shrug seemed to confirm the statement! “Sure, why not. That's the name you decided for them.”
By now, Amy knew that those kind of conversations with Asher were like quicksand. The more you struggled, the quicker you sink. Yet, one question remained; would he step back at that proposal? Or double up on it? That remained to be seen!
For now, it was quite obvious the limits of her patience would be tested. The mere thought of having to deal with two Ashers was both amusing and slightly dreadful at the same time. “You sure you wouldn't prefer to call them 'Asher Jr.’ if they end up being a boy? I think the name would be somewhat fitting, if that ends up being the case… much to my dismay.”
That made it pretty obvious that one Asher was more than enough for her, at least! As things were at the moment, and considering how he just didn't stop teasing Amy, maybe one was already too much!
A lone finger was brought to her chin after the following question had been uttered, though. “What kind of bet?” A pensive hum followed soon after. “I don't know! It can be anything, and since you're usually the one with the brilliant ideas, I was kinda counting on you for that one. To be honest, I'm sure you already have something in mind.”
Blue eyes rolled, but she refrained from uttering anything else. Time to dive.
Pity the journey underwater didn't bring any clues or things of note, besides the fact that the place they had been before wasn't really a cave in the strictest sense of the word. That also meant it was quite possible that the egg wasn't the last specimen remaining of the enigmatic digimon. Maybe they'd find others someday? No way to tell.
The journey back was pretty uneventful, just as Amelie undoing her form as soon as she exited the water. Gingerly, the girl went back where the egg was and picked it up.
“I guess that marks the end of this little investigation.” A sigh of relief escaped her lips when she confirmed that no harm had befallen the unborn creature. It wasn't long before she cradled it in between her arms. “Let's head back.”
Some things never changed, like how despite titles and confessions, the core of the two humans’ relationship remained the same, or how Asher would be once again in driving duty.
All in all, it wasn't something the girl minded. At all.
