The Crystal Forest [MISSION][S-Rank]

Quill clutched his chest again, as the crystals felt as though they were growing in his chest. It didn't seem like they had much more of an effect than that, though, so he took one of the syringes that Mastemon had provided them and readied it. As he did so, however, he hesitated. For a moment, he couldn't help but shake the feeling that something was watching them, but put his worries aside to plunge the ACD syringe into the affected area.
After a short time, the pain subsided. With his injuries diminished, Quill flew down to where the others were. It seemed the large enemy they were preparing against wasn't an enemy at all! Syre had managed to get a dose of the ACD in the creature referring to themselves as X-000 before it was too late!
"So, a nest," he muttered to himself. "A king guarded by many strong guards, to boot...this is very troublesome. With only three of us against a force of unknown quantity, we maybe be in for a rough time." He looked toward X-000 once more. "Are you stable once more? Would you be able to assist us in our mission?"

"THERE IS A BASE? OF COURSE. X-003 WOULD HAVE ONE SET UP. RETREATING WOULD BE THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION FOR ME."
The huanglongmon would blink a few times, those amber eyes losing quite a bit of light. Perhaps some kind of 'mode' that it had engaged in order to obliterate the crystal digimon. It'd bite it's inner cheek and look between the three. The blackgatomon had a really good point with the fact they'd just be a target and would be returned to a crystalline state. Mae's information made it pause and it couldn't help but stare at her with the many eyes on it's head.
"CHALICE? DESIGNATION NOT FOUND. I DO NOT REPORT TO ANYONE OTHER THAN DESIGNATIONS X-003 AND HIS RETROFITS. STAYING IN ONE SPOT IS DETRIMENTAL AND IS HOW I WAS INITIALLY INJURED. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT."
The large digimon huffed a bit, it didn't know this chalice. It knew of it's 'brothers' but perhaps this was just something new that it had to deal with. It would of started tromping away but then Quill addressed it causing it's brow to furrow extremely. It'd cast a look at the other two and then just shake it's head.
"THE KING AND GUARDS ARE OF COURSE THE HIGHEST PRIORITY. THEY ARE THE STRONGEST. THE REST COULD BE DEALT WITH ACCORDINGLY BY VARYING LEVELS. THE ROUGH TIME YOU WILL GO THROUGH WILL BE WORTH IT. HOWEVER I WAS NOT INSTRUCTED BY X-003 OR HIS RETROFITS TO ENGAGE IN LONG TERM COMBAT. I AM LONG OVERDUE FOR A REPORT. LIKELY ONCE I RETURN I WILL BE ASSIGNED TO X-004 FOR OVERWATCH PURPOSES IF HE IS PRESENT."
The edge of certainty was in the large digimon's voice. It didn't take him long after that to make his way through the forest. He had very little reason to be there for an extended period now that he was cured. He would of course leave the others with an obvious trail from where he had come before. It was up to them if they wanted to use such a trail or try to stick to cover.
Even though that it was likely that the crystal digimon knew they were there. Once way or another, this fight got a lot tougher but at the same time a lot easier with such a being no longer being 'infected.' It would be up to the group how they would proceed.
There was no time to dally as for each moment passed the crystal digimon either grew stronger or extended their reach in such an area...

Honestly, Syre wished that they had one more Digimon here to escort this Huanglongmon back.
There was a bit of confusion regarding the identity of 'Chalice', but fortunately it wasn't enough to anger the dragon or dissuade his decision. The Sistermon gave a nod to X-000's advice, and would give a nod as the dragon would make his way towards the edge of the forest. "Stay safe." And as he would pass through the foliage, Syre would call out to the other two: "Mae, Quill, strategy meeting." The dragon had given them a fair bit of decent advice, after all: there was a nest further in, and unfortunately this was a place where the crystal Digimon were propagating.
But that just gave them a target:
"He spoke of a nest - a central area where they're making more of these crystal monsters?" She considered it for a moment: "Let's take the fight there. If we try and damage the nest, we'll force the guards to respond - and maybe even the 'King'. Rather than try and hunt them all down, we'll bring the strongest ones up to us..."
Then Syre motioned to one of the two beacons she was holding.
"Then we'll use these to carpet-bomb them. We can take the worst of them out, then we can use an Anti-Crystal Dose afterwards if we got nicked during the fight. We'll then have one left, each, to play clean-up with the rest of the forest." Inventory: ACD: 2 Beacon (Small): 2

Huh, that was rather...strange, to say the least. How come the Huanglongmon didn't know who Chalice was? Nonetheless, the behemoth had been sent off safely. Phew. Syre had promptly called a strategy meeting right afterwards. The Sistermon had more or less suggested drawing the attention of the nest to them before blowing them to hell.
Now, was that something that Mae approved of? Hell yes, it was.
"It's a solid plan. Maybe we could establish a choke point, if possible. That'd help with drawing them to us before we throw the beacon down--especially if we can get them clustered together." There were a lot of ifs with Mae's input here, but suppose they could do that?
Maybe it'd streamline the hell out of this plan--not to say it wasn't already a damn good one.

The distant thumping of the Huanglongmons steps eventually faded into nothingness, the eerie silence that followed could be described as unsettling. No wind sang through the trees, no birds chirped their merry tunes. This place stunk of death the further that the group seemed to travel inward.
But it didn't help with the symbols on the trees, the corpses cased in crystal. Digimon stuck in violent throes, but for all it's destruction and death there was life here. There was minor things moving in one place or another.
Strangely though, there were a few biyomon huddled on a treebranch looking outright terrified and there was even a botamon that peeked around the back of their carrier. What was with this group in front of them? The ones that fought those crystal demons that took those stronger than them away?
Deeper still, the stench of death and decay yawned up like a horrid benchmark. Taunting those that approached and warding off any that would be considered weak willed.
Eyes of blue, Eyes of Red and Eyes of a strange purple danced through the trees. Staring, taunting, begging at those under or away from them. But no attacks were launched, no howls were made. They just simply watched, some clicking here or there as they communicated amongst themselves.
Unlike the ones that came before, these showed vastly greater intelligence. They wanted nothing to do with those traveling through their hold. But at the same time they simply weren't strong enough.
For Mae a horrid vision of data made crystal would present itself. The uttering diluted cries of a child mixed with the rabid barks and howling of beings stronger than they. Gnashing teeth, clashing claws and a distinct golden hue that threatened to overwhelm.
But it all was replaced by a single bellowing roar that silenced everything and even cracked the ground underneath them...
And very briefly she was gifted with the visage of the king. Malevolence pulsating behind venom filled eyes and the ring of something stronger still yet unborn.
But one thing was certain, those venom filled eyes belonged to a Dragon type digimon.
A certain Magnamon-X.

A choke point? "That would certainly speed things along - if its possible, we'll do it, but we need to keep in mind that there might not be a good place to do it." Though it was definitely possible for them to make one with a few fallen trees, crystal or otherwise, it was still wait-and-see!
The dragon made his departure, and with that, Syre would carefully lead the way deeper into the woods, holding the back of her sleeve against her nose. This place reeked, and it wasn't surprising why. There were bodies, still in-tact, suspended in makeshift crystal prisons. The few that remained behind looked on at the group. Did the birds wonder if they were wasting their time?
Eventually, they came up to an apparent wall, that of eyes staring down at them, the light and figures even dancing off the reflection of the trees. The Sistermon let out a sigh, briefly holding her position. They were definitely seen, but why did they hold position?
"Actual sentinels, I guess? Going to be more tricky than I thought..." Syre let out a 'tsk' past her teeth. "Got anything 'big' you could use here, Mae?"

They still had work to do, however. Work that involved much more than simply telling a cured X-000 to go back to base. As the Meicrackmon proceeded forward along with Syre, her vision was flooded by omen after omen. It wasn't enough that the forest began to reek of death. No, it had to cause this curse of hers to flare up. "...Not really, no. I just have my familiars and the occasional explosive, but nothing that can saturate an entire area..." The Meicrackmon murmured.
"...We should keep an eye out. This vision had a...childlike voice in it. I also have reason to believe that the king's a Magnamon--One of the ones with the X-Antibody. So, if we see any of those? Well, we know the head of the snake. What about you, though? Anything big you can use yourself?" She asked the Sistermon.
Oh, it also shouldn't need to be said that Mae was keeping watch. This...atmosphere was keeping her on guard, alright.

Weak creatures staring at the few that dared to step into their territory, but they weren't able to really put up much of a fight even if they attacked en-masse. That wasn't their job, their job was to simply watch and report back as they needed. Here or there crystal mon could be seen flitting through the trees one even sticking it's head around the trunk of one to stare heatedly at the two making their way through the forest. So far up until now the digimon had been champion level at the very least but these were all rookie!
They were getting closer to the nest, but this also meant that they were getting closer to where the 'king' was of sorts. When the two started to talk to one another, the crystal mon's chittering started up as they seemed to communicate with one another. Using some strange language that was a mix of different light pitches and loud abrasive cracking sounds. None of these digimon had that childlike voice in it, not until they got deeper in still.
Further still, they were watched, larger forms making their way through the very edges of what could be considered the two's 'ground'. A few champion mons watched hesitantly, the rookie mons chittering ceasing as they passed outside of their 'scouting' range. The few champion crystal digimon were the simple garurumon, spotted with an insect digimon here or there flying above.
But they did not attack, they didn't rush. The haughty eyes that they possessed simply stared. Here or there a garurumon stepped out in front of a tree, but they weren't aggressive for some reason or another. It didn't take long for the two to get to a point where an ultimate level crystal mon stepped forward. The weregarurumon brandishing a large sword, it looked strangely brittle and there was a few golden scales along it's sword. Perhaps this is one that fought against the huanglongmon?
Before it could move however a childlike cry could be heard from within, forcing the crystal mon's attention to shift further in. It's brow furrowing slightly as it didn't recognize the cry as one of it's own. This seemed to placate the mon quite a bit even going so far as to scaring off the champion digimon that had been following after them.
Just what was further in?
It didn't take long for the two to come to what amounted to a massive cluster of crystaline eggs. In training digimon that were being tended by a halfway crystalized swanmon. In the center of it all that stood above all else was the Magnamon-x. It was trying to calm down...
...Trying to calm down a human child that was crying and hugging at the chest of the much larger digimon. Was this digimon it's partner? Though after a little bit it's head would shift to look up at the two intruders; it's soft eyes hardening to that same malevolent look that Mae would recognize from their vision. It'd speak in the same chiming chittering mess that the others would recognize from earlier. A few outlying guards drew their own blades and approached the two, looking to their 'king' as it chittered at the two. It seemed to be getting increasingly angry as it went for one reason or another...

"Then we're going to be relying on these beacons even more than we already are."
And if that wasn't bad enough, Mae's premonition was problematic. A Magnamon - definitely a mega - lied deeper in these woods, enough to challenge a Huanglongmon. As for her own abilities? "Sistermon's not much for fighting multiple targets. Ideally, we won't have to fight much at all."
Though, that was beginning to look like a pipe dream. As the two made their approach, it was more than clear that they were being watched, Syre tensing her hands around her pistols, ready to take a shot at anyone who tried to get the jump on them. Fortunately, they seemed wary enough - as the sound of clicking filled the area, the feline gave a 'tsk'. Watched, tracked, this was definitely an ambush in wait...
... And just like that, a WereGarurumon blocked their path. This one seemed like an immediate threat, and as Syre raised her pistol for the ready - the wolf's attention was drawn somewhere else. In fact, several of the crystal Digimon themselves had scattered at the sound of that noise, but why? "I would kill for some answers to some of this stuff by now."
But at the very least, they managed to get to the center - more or less uncontested? Slipping into cover, the Sistermon peered her eway into the center - and her eyes froze. A child? A human child, being comforted by the king? Her eyes opened wide, unsure of what to make if it, even as those glowing eyes settled right on the pair's position.
"T... tch..." God damn it, this was no time to be sentimental! She raised her pistol, firing it towards one of the sword wielders, before directing a single word to Mei: "RUN!"
And with that, she'd turn, trying to cut her way through before they were completely encircled. If Mae wanted to make a choke-point, they needed to make some noise and get these crystalline beasts to follow!

"Sistermon's guns should be noisy enough to attract some attention...But unfortunately, yes, we're definitely going to need to rely on the beacons." Mae replied to Syre as they made their approach. It had appeared they were about to enter combat again, this time with a WereGarurumon, but...Some events happened that made Mae's premonition a tad clearer. A crying child. Mae had gone to cover much like Syre had, but the child was being comforted by the king...? Don't tell me the King's a partnered Digimon. That would make this a lot more of a mess than it probably should be. Upon the plan going into action, Mae sprang out, and her familiars changed into two copies of herself! As the real Meicrackmon attempted to run away, the two clones let out an unearthly screech as they ran for one of the other sword wielders! Hopefully they'd be ran through. Then the explosion would soften them up a bit as WELL as make some noise.
Relevant Passives: Fatebreaker [RAM Upgrade Giga]: This entity has the same mysterious foresight that a Rasielmon would possess. As such, Mae has the ability to divine a potentially infinite number of futures, depending on the level she's at. There are, however, limits to her foresight. For one, the lower the level, the more muddied, limited, and opaque the visions will be. The higher, the clearer. Furthermore, in combat, this is only really applicable as a way to warn herself and others of various attacks. Whether she can dodge them or not even with this is entirely on her. Should she successfully dodge an attack she had a vision of, the chances she can dodge the next one are lower. Basically she can’t spam this unless she wants the hurt.
Love Machine: Every three turns, Meicrackmon is capable of applying an effect on her attacks that grant them an explosive property. As in they actually explode like bombs. For attacks that are already explosive in nature, such as Felt Made, the explosion is actually BIGGER.
Golden Meteor of Debauchery: A descendent of a truly cursed and depraved individual, Meicrackmon is JUST AS resilient as this individual, taking a whooping 15% less damage from all sources.
Mae deploys her whacky Suicide Meis as she runs away with Syre! Felt Made: Meicrackmon creates two clones out of the lures surrounding it. They mainly serve as decoys...that explode upon being struck. They also act autonomously of Meicrackmon, too. They can make basic attacks but otherwise cannot use any of her moves. The clones last for a round after creation. Two turn cooldown. Beacon count: 3. ACD: 3 Cooldowns: Felt Made: 0/2

With the smorgasbord of targets and individuals that were quite clearly crystal the sistermon's words fell short. There were very little in the way of answers to be had and it was even more obvious as that Magnamon-x stared haughtily at the two of them. With the crack of the firearm, the magnamon-x took up a defensive posture. It's arms wrapping around the human and it shifting itself so that any attack would have to hit it first before it'd strike the child. Thankfully for it, or for them the attacks were aimed elsewhere.
The sword wielder wasn't exactly at the ready and the pistol shot managed to break the shoulderjoint. Causing one of it's arms to fall off rather easily, it'd make a somewhat disgruntled sound before stooping to pick up it's sword with it's remaining arm.
The half-dozen or so 'guards' turned to run after the two. The king still glaring after them. If they wanted to fight then they would have a fight! Two of the closer Weregarurumon's skidded to a halt as the king slowly stood up.
"Blu?"
Those same two weregarurumon's flinched as the king's eyes ran over them. Without even saying a word to it's 'tamer' the mon walked forward. Watching the others flee, what on earth could these two do to it's nest? Those two suicide mei's would find it's target, though it'd shove one of the closer weregarurumon's out of the way before being blasted to pieces! It seemed that while they were numerous these guards were not as durable but they also seemed intelligent.
To syre and mae they would find the energy of the crystal forest being pulled past them. The visible waves of energy making their way towards the now standing magnamon-x. Was he powering up? Was he reading an attack? Or perhaps he was doing something different...
Log: -One Weregarurumon Guard has been destroyed. -One Weregarurumon guard has lost a limb. -Three guards give chase to the fleeing Syre and Mae -Two guards remain to protect the child. -The magnamon-x is drawing in energy for something!

Don't think about it, don't think about it, don't think about it.
Syre grit her teeth, Mei's explosions ringing behind her as the two made their way out. The plan was rickety from the start - Syre would have preferred that all five of the ultimates had followed along with them, but three of the stronger agents was a fine catch. With three small beacons and one large one, they could at least get some headway into this.
... But, no, seriously, what the fuck was a child doing mixed up in that? Taking a brief look over her shoulder, Syre definitely felt the central Digimon do something, but she couldn't make out what it was in the foliage. Right, that didn't matter for now - taking stock of how close the three fighters were, the Sistermon prepared one of the beacons, and dropped it in a small bush in front of her as she ran by - concealing it with the sound of her own footsteps. Hopefully she timed it right so the wolves would get caught up as they ran by.
Because right now, Syre had to try and get her head back into the game!
Syre uses a small beacon. Remaining: Small Beacon: 2 Large Beacon: 1 ACD: 2

Did they really only attract three with all of that racket? Mae was pretty certain that that was the equivalent of a cacophony of chihuahuas all barking at the same time, but as an explosion. There were several questions to be had, both at the presence of what seemed to be a tamer and the actual origin of the crystal infection.
Of course, such answers would come, maybe, if they stuck to their plan of blowing these guards to the crystalline hell that they belonged in. As Mae ran, she would leave behind a small gift in the form of one of her own beacons, concealed in the bush and the ensuing chaos. "Think we should turn around and open fire or do we wait for the bombing to start?"
Mae follows suit with Syre, and uses a beacon.

The three ultimates never even saw what killed them. The beacons once primed and dropped would immediately register with the far off X-004. There was a distinct distant thud, two of which as the both of the felines had used small beacons. The wolves skidded to a halt, their heads tilting curiously. The two felines would hear something in their earpieces from X-004. It was short and abrasive but thankfully quite to the point. COORDINATES RECEIVED. PREPARE FOR IMPACT. The magnamon paused and looked up, it's eyes widening as the two mortars came into it's view. Before it could even bark out a command the weregarurumon were caught up in a nasty explosion that shook the entire forest. Sending two furious waves of air pressure blasting away from the impact points. Mae's question would be drowned out, and her answer given clearly as there was nothing left of the three weregarurumon's. The trees themselves had been uprooted and blasted apart. A large swath of open 'field' between the two felines, the magnamon and it's 'nest'. It looked stunned at the sheer destruction that had just been wrought in front of it. The two weregarurumon's that were guarding the human child had upon impact of the bombs positioned themselves in front of the human to shield them from the blast or debris that flew every which way. There was a soft humming from the forest as it seemed to reverberate the blast for miles around. "B-blu what was that?!"The magnamon didn't respond, instead it cupped it's hands to it's 'mouth' inhaling deeply for a moment before spitting out a large goute of crystal fire. Intent on burning everything in front of it. The trees nearest it withered away from the heat and if the two felines didn't move they would find themselves engulfed by the flames! Log: -The three crystal garu were obliterated by the placement of two beacons. Talk about overkill! -The magnamon-x has sustained light damage from the closeness of the blast. -The two weregarurumon have sustained light damage from the closeness of the blast. -The human tamer appears to be fine. -The Magnamon-x uses Crystal Inferno Passives: King of the Crystal Forest: As long as this digimon is within the crystal forest it is much more powerful than any of it's counterparts. In speed, power and even durability this digimon reigns supreme within it's 'land'.
Weakpoints: This digimon's shear is impressive but like every rock it has a weakness. Striking at certain lengths of it's body deals bonus damage to it and shearing through these areas damages it immensely. AOE effects do not gain bonus damage if striking this digimon.
Move: Crystal Inferno: This digimon exhales a mighty gout of crystal fire from it's gullet in a large 180 foot cone. It is unable to pierce through defensive moves and simply goes around them as though they were part of the land. 3 post cool down. Before Syre could even think to respond to Mae's question, there was a deafening sound and a fierce blast of light, ripping the three ultimates to shreds with their sheer artillery power. Suffice to say, it was effective: it blew away the advance forces, as well as opened up a wide part of the clearing, making it much harder for the crystal Digimon to try sneaking up on them.
Unfortunately, even if Syre could hear, she wasn't in condition to respond properly to Mae anyway. No, she was distracted - what was that, a ten year old human child, and a partner to this crystal-infected Digimon? The gunslinger had to take a few seconds to process this.
"We have to - damn it!" As that fire roared out, Syre kicked off to the right, her cloak torn off and burnt away with the flames. Still distraught, she called out: "We've got to stab this Magnamon with a needle, and get a hold of that kid!"
The Sistermon's words were determined, at least - but they were abandoning using the beacons? Well, Syre was the only one to decide that, and she didn't even raise a weapon to fight back yet!
Syre is hesitating.
