The Crystal Forest [MISSION][S-Rank]

The cats seemed to cover everything, and so Quill didn't feel it necessary to add any more to the conversation. Since he had been briefed on the objective and recieved all the equipment he would need for the job, there wasn't much left but to head out into the forest.
Once outside, it didn't take long for them to find the problem. The forest was covered in a layer of crystal. It was beautiful, yet unsettling at the same time. A chill ran through Quill's spine, and he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched.
Syre and Mae seemed to share his feeling, so he decided to take his position in the air and flew up in a gust of wind. From there, he would be able to hopefully spot any incoming threats and warn his comrades before it was too late.

And that feeling would only persist as the group moved forward...Every crunch, every snapped twig moved branch or hint of movement seemed to increase the feeling. Only increased the amount of eyes that seemed to be watching them. The group would maybe be traveling for maybe ten minutes before a response was heard. Not in a physical sense no but in a more mental, emotional feeling. It was soul crushing with how it spoke but it was obvious it did not want them here! "Leave Leave Leave LEAVE"With these words came actions on both front, individuals of crystal stepping out of the trees themselves. For Mae and Syre? A pair of digimon, a red eyed somewhat see through Garurumon-x and a very twitchy Kabuterimon. The Kabuterimon's jowls were drooling some kind of crystallized spit that every time it hit the ground would cause a small cluster of crystals to come into being with every shaky step it took. Quill? Well he wasn't exempt from the response as the wood's bristled and from the tree's burst out a Andromon with crystal wings and long jagged growths out of it's forearms. This one was likely one of the scouts sent to the area for that other reason. Though the numbering on it's chest-piece seemed to sing a different tune. X-213There was next to no hesitation; they attacked without regarding whatever voice had been telling the group to leave. Was it possible they weren't connected? The Garumon's spines broke off in a wave of of crystals aimed at Syre intending on piercing their frame. The Kabuterimon leaped forward it's jowls slathering and a spittle going every which way as it made a slash at Mae with one of it's clawed hands! The andromon itself? Well a numerous amounts of clicks could be heard as those wings flapped spraying a wide array of crystals shards at Quill! Additionally those growths on it's arms seemed to lengthen just a bit more. And somewhere deeper in? The sound of shattering crystal and felled trees could be heard. Someone or something was coming. It was only a matter of time before whatever it was arrived. Battle Log: -Garurumon-x has appeared and is targeting Syre! -Kabuterimon has appeared and is targeting Mae! -Andromon has appeared and is targeting Quill! -Something is approaching! By the sounds of it there are 3 posts of movement before it arrives!

Digivolving, well, it didn't sound like the worst of ideas. The BlackGatomon returned a nod, giving Mae the room she needed to take her MeiCrackmon form. Quill, wordlessly, slipped up into the air to try and take the high ground.
Alright, so they at least had enough of a plan. Gathering her data together, the BlackGatomon started to focus to - oh shoot, intruders! The cat's eyes narrowed in focus at the sight of those three Digimon. In order of danger, there was a Garurumon after Quill, a Kabuterimon after Mae - and a winged Andromon in the treetops? With that mental voice screaming in her ears, Syre dove forward, hitting the deck as those crystal spines slipped right over her back. From there, a powerful white light would envelop her, the Sistermon Noir taking Syre's place.
Right from there, she'd aim one pistol straight upwards - towards the center of the Andromon - and let out a powerful Piercing Shot.
"Take down the fliers! They'll pin us down!"
Log:
Syre uses Piercing Shot! CD: 0/3
Piercing Shot
Loading a special shot into either pistol, Syre lets out one impressively loud shot - one that deals heavy damage, and pierces through shields of the same level that have a cooldown of two or less posts without a reduction in damage, and through higher-power shields with a lower level of power. Three post cooldown.

The response that the group heard about ten minutes after setting out was sudden and managed to shake Mae to the very core. Yet, the cat wasn't daunted. And with the words came a vision, a vision involving three entities coming at them, one jumping at her. Moments later? Lo and behold, three intruders. A Garurumon, a Kabuterimon, and some Andromon that had grown wings. Must have been one of Chalice's folk. The Meicrackmon leapt back to avoid the slash directed towards her, an arm moving forward as tendrils erupted from the end to let loose a barrage of bullets...Upwards! For the Andromon! "I'll try but I don't think this guy's gonna quit bugging me anytime soon!"
Active Passives: Fatebreaker [RAM Upgrade Giga]: This entity has the same mysterious foresight that a Rasielmon would possess. As such, Mae has the ability to divine a potentially infinite number of futures, depending on the level she's at. There are, however, limits to her foresight. For one, the lower the level, the more muddied, limited, and opaque the visions will be. The higher, the clearer. Furthermore, in combat, this is only really applicable as a way to warn herself and others of various attacks. Whether she can dodge them or not even with this is entirely on her. Should she successfully dodge an attack she had a vision of, the chances she can dodge the next one are lower. Basically she can’t spam this unless she wants the hurt.
Love Machine: Every three turns, Meicrackmon is capable of applying an effect on her attacks that grant them an explosive property. As in they actually explode like bombs. For attacks that are already explosive in nature, such as Felt Made, the explosion is actually BIGGER.
Golden Meteor of Debauchery: A descendent of a truly cursed and depraved individual, Meicrackmon is JUST AS resilient as this individual, taking a whooping 15% less damage from all sources.
Mae's Fatebreaker warned her about the three enemies, and she manages to avoid Kabuterimon's claw. She fires Spider Shooter at the Andromon. Spider Shooter: Meicrackmon’s hands turn into tendrils that in turn form twin gattling guns before she fires destructive energy bullets towards her foe. One post cooldown. Beacon count: 3. It certainly didn't take long for the party to be set upon by enemies. As a strange voice screamed in Quill's subconscious, a winged Andromon appeared and set its sights on the feathered gentleman. Quill barely had enough time to react as a flurry of crystal shards raced toward him. If he was on the ground, it would've been very difficult to react and avoid these projectiles. However, Quill was a master of aerial combat. He dipped and darted around the projectiles, dodging them all to the best of his abilities. Taking stock of the level disadvantage, Quill decided that there was no time to pace himself. He would have to go all out right from the start. He quickly focused himself, and exploded into the brilliant light of Digivolution. "Hawkmon Warp Digivolve to...Garudamon!"The giant eagle Digimon burst forth in a blaze of wind and fire, ready for combat. With a mighty flap of his wings, he shot a powerful projectile of flame towards the crystalline Andromon. "Wing Blade!" The eagle-shaped projectile would do a fair bit of damage, were it to connect.
-Quill is attacked by Andromon, and dodges using his Tailwind Passive. -Tailwind (Passive): When Hawkmon is in the air, his speed increases by 30%. -Quill Digivolves to Garudamon -Garudamon uses Wing Blade on Andromon -Wing Blade: Garudamon flaps his wings, causing a giant bird-shape projectile of fire to shoot towards an enemy.

The garurumon snarled in irritation as their prey flung themselves down and were replaced with that Sistermon Noir. The powerful form of a new ultimate drew the attention of kabuterimon briefly until returning to it's desired target. The andromon on the other hand? Well with Mae avoiding the attack of the Kabuterimon, Quill digivolving and announcing their presence to the entire area from the air there wasn't much it could do to avoid what was coming next. One attack from an ultimate it could dodge reliably, or block but three? It managed to flap it's wings to avoid the majority of Syre's bullet, the piercing shot punching through the edge of it's wing without much issue. Then it was the meicrackmon. Those bullets tore through the self same wing, reducing it to a surprisingly small but somewhat still effective wing. But it wasn't good for keeping the andromon aloft and it'd slowly lose altitude. The last attack from quill, now the giant eagle digimon Garudamon drew the proper ire of the Andromon as it let out a burst of crystals aimed directly at the chest of the Garudamon. Even as that eagle shaped projectile slammed into the entire body of the andromon. Cooking the crystal in such a fashion that hardened it and caused it to rapidly drop from the air. It wasn't moving. In the slightest. The Garurumon growled in irritation and let loose a howl. In return several other howls further away answered before something roared so loudly that cut through their howls, shook the ground that they were standing on and stunned the two crystal digimon who stopped in their tracks to whip their heads around. That voice from earlier screaming in agitation! LEAVE MY HOME.The crashing and sounds of an approaching digimon had hiked up, Quill would be able to see a golden tail and the edges of a large head through the tree tops. A large dramon of some kind, it was hard to see all of it as it seemed to be hidden by a large portion of the forest. After that howl and mental blast of pressure the silence that followed suit was almost deafening. Both of the crystal digimon had stopped moving for a good few moments before the kabuterimon kicked off of the ground looking to fly away while the garurumon-x turned around running away from both the group... and that oncoming golden dramon of some kind. They were clearly not in a good position here and the main pack had to learn of the approaching dangers! Battle Log: -The andromon has been dealt with, the fire proving particularly effective against it. It now lays in pieces on the forest floor. -Whatever was approaching has picked up it's pace, it's roar and presence scaring the two remaining crystal creatures. -Faced with three ultimates and an approaching creature they recognize the remaining crystal digimon hastily retreat in their own fashions. -Something is approaching! By the sounds of it there is 1 post of movement before it arrives as it has picked up the pace.

Alright... at the very least, the fight had swung in their favor.
With the three of them focusing their attacks on the Andromon, it was with little surprise that the ultimate-level crystal creation simply fell to the ground in a burning heap. But, in those next few moments, there was quite the stir to work through:
The mental voice in their head, screaming in anguish.
The roar, and crash, of a large monster approaching.
And the two Crystal Digimon, running away towards the -
"Do not let them get past the perimter!"
Syre's voice belted out, primarily towards Mei, as the Sistermon Noir raised both of her pistols for that Garurumon. The gun in her right hand was quickly bolstered with an impressive burst of fire, and with two loud 'bangs', a bullet would fire from each chamber - the one from the right cloaked in flame - as they aimed to slam right into the side of that crystalline wolf! They had to eliminate every monster they came across, after all!
Log:
Piercing Shot CD: 1/3 Syre uses 'Fire on the Right' to give her right gun the element of fire. Syre uses her passive to fire an extra shot! Passive CD: 0/1

Well, as much as Mae wanted to leave, they couldn't. Basically, they were dug in a bit too deep to consider retreating now! The cat winced as the voice practically screeched in her head, but rather than take focus on the crashing noises of a large monster approaching, she focused on the two remaining crystalline horrors. You won't get away.I REFUSE."Allow me to expedite their extermination." The cat replied as she promptly spat a ball of energy out for the fleeing Kabuterimon. This was her Spider Bomber attack--a variant on her Meicoomon form's Trichobezoar. This particular one was...very explosive, and Mae was fairly certain her aim was on point. Basically, if that ball hit? The Kabuterimon would be faced with a rather fiery end.

Quill smirked as the Andromon fell to the ground, all the while taking note of how it had cooked and hardened when subjected to the Wing Blade. This intel would prove pretty invaluable against future opponents.
However, his moment of self-praise and analysis gave way to a sharp pain as a small burst of crystals jammed themselves into the Garudamon's chest. A guttural grunt escaped his beak as he looked down to find several crystals embedding themselves in his torso. What this would hold, he wasn't sure.
Because of the pain of the crystals, Quill was unable to strike down the other enemies that were making a hasty retreat. "M-my apologies," he grunted, grimacing down at his comrades. To be injured so soon in the mission was rather shameful, after all! He instead would take a moment to figure out the extent of damage the crystals would do to his body, and prepare for the bigger threat to come.

LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE. GO AWAY. GET OUT. MY HOME.
The voice picked up in volume as the trees parted for that golden form that Quill would of had a few moments to see as he descended through the air. The horns of this creature could be seen as the others reacted to the fleeing crystal digimon. The crystalline wolf stumbled as the rounds slammed into his side. He'd roll a little bit and start to stand before huffing and finding one of his legs didn't work so well.
The fiery ball that the Meicrackmon fired? Well it had the same effect as the andromon though to a less spectacular degree as it wasn't as high. But the move was certainly just as effective as removing it as a threat. The large explosion engulfing it's body and ceasing the function of it's wings.
In the brief instant however?
Mae would receive quite a vision.
...a golden head wracked with crystal growths bursting through the foliage. A foot stomping down, sending tremors through the earth. Mons of crystal screaming in agony for a brief moment before the world went dark...
And just like that her vision would find it's truth. A huge golden head whipping through the the foliage. Amber eyes lit up in a painful remembrance. Targeting not the group but those of crystal. The pained shrieks of the crystal digimon resonating as the huge digimon slammed it's head against the falling Kabuterimon, sending it flying through the forest smashing through the trees and cutting it apart.
A moment later? It'd look to that garurumon and open it's mouth. A red and hot angry beam of energy leaping forth shredding through the trees and consuming it's entire body, the trees behind it and a huge swath of the crystaline forest up until the 'actual' forest.
It's amber eyes paused for a moment and it'd turn it's head to gaze at the members of the group. This mega level digimon rearing up to crush two trees that were stopping it from sauntering forth. Much of it's body was overtaken by crystal; slow halting growths splitting from it's head overtaking many of it's horns. However on it's chest, a red biolumencent swath of numbers could be seen.
X-000
Even with the numbers and the huge crystal body in front of them mixed with proper digital flesh... the voice that had been sounding off until now? Felt so much closer.
"WHY ARE YOU HERE. ARE YOU WITH THEM? WHO ARE YOU? IF YOU'RE NOT HERE TO HELP GO AWAY."
Log: -Both crystal digimon suffered from the attacks brought upon them. -Both remaining crystal digimon have been destroyed by the Huanglongmon that appeared! -It's crystallization is incredibly high, but it still seems to have it's wits about it!

Alright... alright, good!
Somehow, they had managed to hamstring the Garurumon and Kabuterimon before they could make their mistake, and Syre's gun was still burning hot. The Sistermon raised her pistol once more, ready to put an end to it.
Well, she was, until a giant freaking dragon did the job for them! The source of that mysterious roaring voice made itself known, and so as to not get caught up in its rampage, Syre gave the dragon as much room as it needed to get those two clean shots in! She grit her teeth. At the very least, it seemed that 'order' was not meant for them, but for the crystalline Digimon.
But, on the other hand, even this Huanglongmon, powerful as it was, seemed largely overtaken by the blight. Syre considered her options - it was clear that the dragon was trying to put anything 'not crystal' as far away from the area as possible. Maybe it was already starting to lose control? But if they didn't deal with the problem now, then...
We either have to delete him now, or stop the crystal.
"We're here on orders of X-003, to help purge the forest of its infection." Syre's voice came out strong and confident. "We've also been given tools to help us here - including a syringe to slow down and reverse crystal infection."
As she spoke, she carefully drew an 'Anti Crystal Dose' - and stepped forward to approach. "Stay still..."
Syre would carefully move closer, and closer. And if allowed, she'd find a part of the dragon's skin beneath its scales - still on a 'clean' part of its body - and inject that solution into its frame. If it worked as Chalice boasted, it should even work on a 'large' body! Inventory: ACD: 2 Beacon (Small): 2

The voice was close and the voice was FURIOUS. Mae hadn't been expecting her Fatebreaker ability to kick in at that time but when it did...
It...
She had been in a spot like this before but the dragon was smaller, she was smaller, and she felt these people were far more understanding than those kids back there were. But she couldn't help but freeze in horror at not only the vision she had seen but the reality it had come to.
A Huanglongmon. An impossibly durable digimon. Mae found herself unmoving for a long while as X-000 made its presence known and destroyed the rest of these crystal monsters. She tried to form words. But words would not come. She could only watch as Syre made what might as well be the most daring move done in this mission.
Something was being managed at last, and that was anticipation. She wasn't sure how this would end, but the Meicrackmon found herself preparing to move.

The large dragon craned it's head to stare down at the sistermon. It'd furrow it's brow painfully as she explained what was going on. It was having a hard time thinking, having a hard time processing everything. It'd grit it's teeth painfully but at the mention of the syringe it'd lean it's head down to stare at the sistermon. Though it didn't do anything when the other approached it.
Syre could easily see that much of it's body was still painfully growing crystal. Though it was slow the gentle movement of it all was obvious. The large dragon like digimon simple waited and shuddered quite visibly as the solution was injected into it's frame. It wasn't instant or anything of the like but after a few long awkward moments a few large growths of the crystals from it's body would simply fall off. The golden shimmering scales that the huanglongmon usually boasted strangely absent for the time being.
And over the course of the next few minutes the large crystal portions would fall off and any of the smaller areas would simply pull back into the body as though being fought from within. Chalice indeed had boasted well of her own work and wasn't joking around one bit!
During that small period of time Quill would feel a severe ache in his chest as the few crystals that had embedded themselves in his torso had started to spread their influence through it. It was a simple matter of just pushing the crystals out and injecting the concoction that the Mastemon had made to get rid of it at this point.
Though even as that would be something the bird digimon could consider. There was an moment where he could feel the pain from the huanglongmon's body. But only the small parts of the body that the larger digimon had succumbed to crystal shortly before fading away. There was a small odd feeling of something staring at him that was not of the ones standing here before that too quickly moved off!
The huanglongmon huffed in irritation and leaned it's head to look from each of the three. It had less of the pain from earlier and didn't seem to be as hostile thanks to that concoction.
"THE INFECTION HAS SPREAD TO THE PLANTLIFE AND MOST OF THE DIGITAL LIFE HERE. THERE ARE MANY DIGIMON THAT HAVE SUCCUMBED TO THIS... CRYSTAL. A FEW DAYS LIKE THAT AND..."
The large digimon shook it's head as though trying to push that trail of thoughts from it's head. It didn't want to think about the possibility of coming under complete control of the crystal beast at the center of all this!
"FURTHER IN THERE IS A NEST. THEY ARE BREEDING. MOSTLY IN TRAININGS AND FRESH, BUT THERE ARE CHAMPION OR ULTIMATE GUARDS. ALONG WITH THEIR KING. HE'S THE ONE THAT INFECTED ME."

Oh, thank Sovereign, that actually worked!
The dragon didn't resist the application of the dose, and though it took some time - especially with the mass of the Huanglongmon - but she could eventually seen the crystal literally falling off of his frame, the sense of reason starting to return to his eyes. Syre backpedaled to get out of the way of the falling rock, but otherwise nodded to the dragon. Slowly, his tone leveled out, and he gave his short explanation.
That there was a nest further on in, and that the Digimon were spreading.
Syre gave a nod, briefly considering their options. "X-000. Please return back to base, and give a full report to your brethren." Syre's tone was calm and rational: "This isn't something that can be handled by larger scale Digimon. There is a high chance that you will be struck, and any damage will eventually return you back to your crystal state. Leave this to us, alright?"
She gave a smile, then looked back towards the MeiCrackmon. "That's good with you, right?"

Thanks to some quick thinking by Syre? Mae didn't have to actually worry about fighting another fucking dragon so soon after the last. Thank the Sovereign. The news delivered by X-000 was...troubling, though. The fact they're able to even breed was troubling. "Yeah. You did good in telling us this, and we'll try to make good use of the information." The Meicrackmon gave a nod, before looking towards Syre.
"Of course. ...I mean, we were sent here to deal with this in the first place...Perhaps Chalice will be pleased that we managed to recover X-000. Anyways, we should...keep moving, I suppose. I don't think staying in one spot for too long is going to help us." The cat stretched and immediately seemed...way more relaxed than before.
Disaster hadn't struck. Would it stay that way?
