She didn't sense it - in part because of their conversation, and in part because of Dark's own training and ability.
Regardless, the task in front of them was quite straightforward. It was a bit curious, then, that Holly wanted to use her Ultimate form. Iris' comment, admittedly, made the Impmon curious: "Want to try something out? Go ahead, just be careful with the books in such a form." He gave a nod - and a small counter: "In turn, however, I want you to actually get a good night's sleep. You don't need to take the sleep deprivation training the rest of us do - you seem to do that quite well yourself."
He gave that one comment - and a small wave over his shoulder, as he turned away. "Iris, I'm going to hit up some field work. I have a potential client to meet on the west end. Her training's up to you, for the rest of the day."

"Oh... bother. It's going to be hard to keep track of all of them..."
The meicoomon seemed to beam with delight and stretched a little bit. Before her form was taken up by a soft, very gentle light of digivolution. Her limbs extending and twisting to fit that better of none other than her meicrackmon vicious mode. Holly dipped her head in a small nod at the second bit and before she was even through...
Four others of her simply just... appeared out of her body. Looking exactly like her, sharing the same movements and mentality even. They looked at one another for a few seconds before what Iris believed to be the 'real' holly. Her voice didn't fit her age and it even made the Shademon groan again. He'd have to deal with this up until when she went to sleep...
"Don't worry, we'll be careful Dark. My claws only come out when I get too excited. Well. We? I guess?"
The meicrackmon scratched at her head and headed off to the room. Iris of course let out a soft sigh and dipped his form in a nod. They had gotten endurance, some amounts of development on a mental scale... he'd have to teach her hand signals and if he was to guess...
Hand signs with five learners all of them roughly around the same pace would just... Well... He was not going to enjoy this.
The sound of holly already in the record's room could be heard throughout the 'hold'. Muffled speech even with just two would be heard by the assassins... But five? Six with iris included? It was hard to keep them all quiet and in the same venue but they covered so much ground Iris was spending more time collecting what they figured out than directing her.
Literally herding cats.
But she was able to gather so much in a short time, go over so much in a short time. Her fervor and dedication to a simple project like looking over the records learning the areas that the gambling ring went into and who was listed with what? The entries, exits, ventilation of the buildings they commonly used and even ones in the same area.
It took maybe three or four hours of talking through this, learning the area and everything it held. She even accounted for potential threats, guards and what she considered to be obvious threats or problems that would arise.
"Well... Okay so bear with us here. Three fourth's of the ventilation is out in the open in most of these buildings, they're up high yes and mixed around but there's a large portion that is unseen.."
"And the guards? If someone just vanished?"
The meicrackmon would draw a line with a protected claw to the basement segment of one of the buildings.
"Missing individuals would be thought to go to the vault segment of this ones. Other buildings have bathrooms, large broken pieces or rubble. More things they'd have to check. But the rubble portions would yield the best hiding spots..."
The shademon peered over the image and watched a clone, as he could tell seeing the blue claw covers to holly's red...
"And if records were from a couple weeks ago?"
"Inquire for an update, extra rooms means extra places and spaces to check. Good hiding spots if they're boarded up and you can get in without much issue..."
The meicrackmon would spend a rather long time pouring over the records, building plans and even more about the general entertainment district. There was even some sewers that she could get into from different buildings or places that led into the buildings the gambling rings used.
From there Iris would spend the rest of their evening together working on handsigns once things were properly picked up in the record room. It was frustrating working with five of her but she moved quickly enough to where most of it was smoothed over before the troubles really set in.
At the end of the 'night?'
Well holly had to let those clones go and the... Result wasn't pretty as her body locked up; her hands shot to her head and she felt all the information slam into her mind all at once. It'd take maybe thirty or so minutes of her shuddering in her hammock before she finally was able to relax. The smell of data was clear to her as she had dug her claws into her head, and bitten her tongue rather badly. Though her regeneration was already taking care of it.
"F...Feh... Just like you said Iris..."
"Information overload... Thirty minutes, almost thirty one.... Eight hours."
"Next time I'll... Figure out a way to stagger all of that..."
"More experimenting at some other point. Goodnight holly."
"...Goodnight Iris."
Holly's sleep was fast to her, and her form regressed quickly in her sleep. The surprising note was that the light that held her was softer than her mother's... What did that say about this digimon?
Iris of course had other things he needed to do in the meantime. He couldn't just always be in her shadow, hiding with her, feeling everything she felt... Could he...?
His kind savored negative thoughts, they enjoyed the emotions attached to them. But every time that he slipped into that shadow he felt.. nothing but that positive beacon that was holly's consciousness and he was starting to feel... Strange.
Something he didn't understand; something that brought him into a strange realm of thinking when the shademon took his rest under her hammock. In that shadow again.

As Holly and Iris would be practicing and studying for several hours, Dark had a lot of time to cover ground. It was more than enough, to both handle the initial meeting and the background work for this relatively new project. One thing was certain for the Impmon:
Things were moving fast, and they weren't about to slow down any time soon. Coming back at a rather late hour, silently landing on the cushion in front of the base, the Impmon found the front room abandoned, save for the Peckmon that gave him a small nod. It was returned, and the Impmon would move right into the sleeping quarters to find...
... Holly, out like a light, and Iris calmly resting in her shadow. Well, there was no point waking the Meicoomon up. Silently stepping forward, he would instead let his own shadow cross over the Meicoomon's own, taking a moment to settle in.
Iris. I have her first assignment.

The silence of the place was something that the meicoomon would eventually give into. It was something she wouldn't make the place loud with those discussions or the like among herself or others. She'd learn to control her emotions a lot better as even now she was regressing slightly as she was getting into the training itself.
So he made sure to smooth over things as he could, help her out as he could. Part of this training was to get her readied for a varied amount of things and during one of those normal 'remain hidden' mental scenarios the Shademon was interupted to allow the meicoomon a normal semblence of dreaming.
The feeling of another's shadow on his and hers made the shademon pause considerably as those words crossed through his being. The shademon blinked slowly and slid out of the meicoomon's shadow to more engulf himself into the impmon's.
So soon? Would you even consider her ready?
There was actual hesitation in his voice, they had been training only for a handful of days with various things being learned. Sure she was unlike any of the others and kept to her own very strange schedule... but that didn't mean that things sank in!

Like it or not, she's quite capable at what she can do. All it really comes down to is her commitment.
The Impmon gave a mental sigh, letting both his words, and his thoughts and imaging, slip over to the Shademon's consciousness.
'The Count', a Myotismon in Whitewater and the head of a large gambling ring. His establishments are run openly, and he's largely in compliance of Whitewater's regulations for running a casino... but this tip proved quite interesting.
You see, he has a tendency to target 'high rollers'. Those who win a bit too much money suddenly vanish the next day. Its not an often occurrence, so many assume that they just left the city - proper investigations aren't run by Whitewater, because to them, the situation is normal. But 'Count' is simply ringing Whitewater dry. Both in money, and in data.
He gave a sigh, shaking his head. I've confirmed it. Got a bit too close to him for comfort, but I have no doubt in my assessment. And as our client's a bit of a ritsy gambler himself, he'll have the funds to pay up.

That is true. I just... wasn't expecting it this early. It's only been a handful of days so you understand my hesitation.
The shademon quietly listened to what the impmon had to say, so that gambling ring in whitewater was really what they were looking into? And the research phase was already done. They had all the information they could possibly want about the area minus the target itself.
Gritting his shadows against one another the Shademon eased an eye out to watch the impmon. So the individual they went to meet earlier was the client or the myotismon. It didn't change what he was given here. Holly would be doing this in some form or another. He just had to ask a simple question.
She'll be the one in the field right?
As it stood his presence in holly's shadow would be a problem with a Myotismon. In fact he was damned sure they'd be able to sense him, he wouldn't be able to go along and would have to let her deal with this herself.
When does this assignment start?

Unfortunately, today's training wasn't just a trial run. There was a reason I told her to look into that specific location.
Dark gave a sigh, feeling the Shademon's hesitation in this. Indeed, it was soon, but there was no easy way to jump into this sort of work. Whether she would be working on the sidelines, or directly in the action, the risk was all the same. To his question, he gave a nod: Right in the field. You, naturally, will be her back-up and cover. Per usual, I'll be in charge of the live data management. Even if he wasn't directly in the Meicoomon's shadow, well, Iris knew how to skirt around in the dark.
As for when?
Today's Saturday. Our opportunity comes Wednesday - he'll be either preparing for, or retiring from, a small working speech for his sponsors.

I should of figured as much.
The shademon managed a little frown and he'd shift slightly looking at holly for a brief few moments. His eyes flicked to Dark however when he said that she would be right in the field and he... would be her back-up and cover? Dark being in charge of the live data management. He would have to keep separate from the meicoomon if she was around the myotismon else he would probably sense the shadow digimon.
I see. I'll have to keep separated from her to avoid suspicion from our target. If I get too close they'll sense me without a doubt.
Then the answer came from Dark, which further brought a frown from him. So they had about three to four days to get ready for this, go over plans indulge in the questions the meicoomon would have... And they even had a time-frame for when they would strike.
And during that span of time we'll strike I presume?
Iris considered something briefly, if the myotismon was going to prepare or retire from the working speech there was a lot that they could do to get into where-ever he was retiring to. But where and when they could strike would have to be smoothed out.
If it's just me and her... it's likely going to be her that deals with the 'Count'. When is the planning meeting going to occur?
Holly shifted slightly in her hammock, still passed the hell out from what the shademon could tell. A few of his eyes swiveled to look at her and that 'frown' creased his form. He'd look up at Dark with some hesitation in a few of his eyes. He had been wondering this since the start of the conversation and he wasn't sure if he was going to like the answer...
I would of waited longer before throwing her into something like this. But it's also a rare opportunity. Who made the suggestion that she do it if you don't mind me asking?

Unfortunately, this was going to have to be a job run on a tight ship. Dark gave a small nod, as Iris mentioned that he would have to keep himself separate from Holly.
Just as well. You'll be slipping from shadow to shadow to screen information as you can - par for the course.
It wasn't Iris' role that was in question. If anything, it was Holly's. Another nod was given, confirming their period to strike. As for the planning meeting? Tomorrow morning, but you're going to start now. Slip into her shadow, and start to set the stage with everything she's learned today. A mental practice run will do her some good, and give her some familiarity with it once the mission starts.
Seeing Holly's shift in that hammock, Dark gave a small blink, before returning his attention to the Shademon. Boss' 'order', if you want to call it that. It sounded like he wanted to 'test' her quite a bit earlier than most. Once she does this? Well... she'll be in too deep to back out.

Iris knew what his role would be, it'd make sense for him to do something like that. He doubted he'd find anything particularly enticing from regular patrons but the high rollers? Guards? Or the dealers in various places? Well he could learn a lot from them, if anything he'd just have to keep moving so that they didn't notice his intrusion. A good way for him to keep busy while holly did what she needed to.
Information gathering? Of course.
He'd blink a few times and consider what he could stage; all the variables and everything that she had gone over with him... Well there was a lot, and setting the stage would do her well. Giving a somewhat 'toothy' grin the shademon would dip his 'head' in a nod.
Easy enough, It's still fresh too so it'll make one hell of an impact with her. Her nervousness during training today was almost palatable.
The shademon turned his attention away from holly for the most part. One eye sticking to watching her. He was expecting someone like wolf or... All of his eyes widened at once and well... if he had a proper mouth well it would of been opening and closing in surprise. Dark had actually managed to startle him with that bit of information.
...I didn't. expect it to come from him. Maybe a suggestion from one of the others that turned into an agreement but from Boss? You're not wrong in that regard. As far as that practice goes it'll run the course for the rest of her time sleeping. Which should be a few hours. Time to get started.
The shademon slipped more primarily into the sleeping meicoomon's shadow. There was a bit of a mental nod to dark for all the information he had been given in regard to this 'job'.
He had to set the stage, which wasn't hard to do. Visualization and such would be the first steps. Solidifying the information she had gathered along with adding small steps to her dream sequences. When he first started doing things like this he wasn't able to get so detailed and so extreme. Her mind had been fighting against it for the most part. Now? It accepted him like he was just a usual occurrence and he wasn't sure if others would find that worrying or not.
His work would take priority and he'd make sure to set the stage the best he could. Laying out possible escape routes, the possible guard postings along with dozens of other things. The very last of which?
That strike itself
He knew she would hesitate at that crucial moment, or reflect on her actions for too long. But how to address that? How to fix that? He-... No. He was doing too much. He'd pull back from that particular thing and leave that for her to deal with. Gritting his 'teeth' he'd continue to work on the stage; firmly avoiding that area past laying it out.
When she woke? Well...
The meicoomon placed a hand to her head as her concious mind went over the pertinent information. She had dreamed of that place; oddly enough and the meicoomon hopped out of the hammock with a very noticeable frown. Quietly she'd speak, breathless and a faint whisper.
"...We're going there aren't we...?"
The shademon paused blinking a little bit as he had to take the time to adjust himself before appearing. A few eyes would flow and give the meicoomon a small look.
"Your first target. An individual that goes by the name of 'The count'. He's made quite a problem for whitewater in both finances, individuals and data."
"That's who that was. I see."
The meicoomon stretched a little bit and closed her eyes hissing out a small breath of air before taking a seat. Still trying to go through what was cycling in her head. Iris had plenty of time to set the stage properly with her but he was slightly worried she wouldn't be able to handle so much at once.
"Six escape routes... Front, Back, Windows, Vents, Roof, Sewers... Are we having a meeting like...?"
"Should be starting sooner rather than later. Time frame is on Wednesday during prep or after his speech to some for his sponsors."
"...Hmm... All right."
The meicoomon rubbed her neck and sighed slowly standing back up to get out of the room. She needed a little bit of fresh air to clear her head and she could just stand outside for a bit before the meeting started... Right?

A night of practice.
A revelation of just how fast things were moving.
And, perhaps, a slight bit of doubt in the path she chose.
What went on in the Meicoomon's head, Dark didn't fully know - and Iris probably didn't fully know either. But they had extended the offer in earnest, and Holly had been improving at a rapid rate. What they needed was to know her commitment - whether or not she succeeded on her own, after this, Holly would have a full understanding of the guild, and from there, she could truly make her own choice.
That was Dark's reasoning in all of this, at least. For the moment, the Impmon found himself outside the guild, breathing in the cool morning air of Luminas - the best it could filter into this back alley, anyway. Hearing the metal grate creak behind him, the Impmon looked over his shoulder, to see Holly coming out for a bit of fresh air.
With just a blink, the Impmon gave a nod, leaning his back against a wall as he sat.
"... Nervous?"

The meicoomon would of course smile, give people small nods and climb her way back up to the surface. Pushing open through the back way figuring the best place to clear her head would be there. Iris left her be for the mean time so that he could sort out his own ventures.
The climb up had each step making her reflect the actions she took to get here, the things she said. The things she wanted from all this, she wouldn't be anything like her siblings after this. She wouldn't be in that place learning like she had before and that was... honestly okay with her.
She liked the people here, even if she had only actually talked to three of them. They seemed friendly enough even with those stares and the truth about her kind. She'd sigh wistfully pushing open the metal grate and softly stepping out into the fresh air.
She'd stretch a little bit and blink quietly as the Impmon inquired if she was nervous. Holly blinked and looked down at her hands; they were shaking. She could feel the edge of the night sort of wearing on her. There were small twitches in her tendrils and she could feel her senses extending themselves to be hyper aware. She'd slowly exhale trying to get that calm back and failing, sounding a touch more nervous than she would of liked when she spoke; even with how quiet she was being the impmon wouldn't have a problem picking up her words.
"Quite a bit... I... Was expecting to have a little more time before this. Am I ready for this? Would I be a good choice for something like this? It's really hard to say. But if I got picked for it I have to abide by the decision don't I? Worries and problems aside..."
The meicoomon eased out a breath and would lay her head against the wall.
"Jittery, Jittery is what I'd call it. There's a lot playing in my head, going through it. Things to check, things to go over. I think the most I worry about is just... I don't know what I'd do if I failed. Were you nervous about your...?"

Of course she was nervous.
It was evident in her answer, and even more in her tone - the shaking paws, the fingers, the rapidly fired questions and the fact that it sounded like she was talking to himself, even moreso than the Impmon. Dark gave a silent sigh, listening to each word that the Meicoomon had to say.
As that question was finally returned, he remained silent for a few moments, considering his answer. Crossing his hands, he gave a nod. "Immensely, but for a different reason. I've only done the 'deed' four or five times myself, Holly - no, my first job was in live data management. In addition to the act I was helping to commit, I had the well-being of a few others on my team as my responsibility. I remember how tight my chest felt that day... tch."
The Impmon gave a sigh, looking up briefly towards the road. "Take a deep breath in, hold it for a few seconds, and then just let it carry past your throat in a slow exhale. Repeat it a few times... and get to know that feeling. Your eyes coming into focus as you hold your breath, your heart rate calming as you breathe out."

Holly flicked her ears a few times as the impmon answered one of her questions. That he indeed was nervous the first time, but for a different reason. She'd blink owlishly about him refering to the deed and would open her mouth to inquire what exactly... Then it sort of hit her that he was talking about that particular thing that she would have to do. Something that iris had slowly slipped into her subconscious time and time again. She felt her jaw slacken a bit and she'd slowly close her mouth; avoiding asking a foolish question.
I'm... really ready for that?
Perhaps it was the deed that was making her nervous; the idea of taking another's life. Something that a few weeks ago she would never of considered, understood or even been privy to understanding the jobs along side it. But that was something Iris worked with her on, to try to smooth that out. But it was the actual act that she had to do, the actual strike she had to put everything into.
"I... see..."
The meicoomon blinked and slowly followed what he suggested. Finding that it indeed did help her a bit, she felt a lot more calm and a lot more ready for today. She'd put her hands up to her head and exhale very slowly.
"I just... really worry I'm not ready and that people are putting too much stock in me too quickly. But... I at the same time want to prove that it isn't just blind faith."

"Its a crossroads every one of us at the guild has come to at some point, Holly."
The Impmon's tone was careful, not wanting to spook the Meicoomon more than she already was. But, at the very least, she was surrounded by others who had been in her shoes, who would be able to help her over these next few days. "I'm sure Iris explained it to you, already. Especially in our world, there are those capable of causing great destruction and pain if left unchecked. We are that 'check', Holly - perhaps not for a job like this, but for our purpose in general."
He gave another pause, taking a brief look towards the sky, before sharing a small sigh. "... I was honestly surprised that Iris brought someone like you along." The Impmon, half-talking to himself, started to ramble. "We've seen mons from all sorts. Capable ones practically drawn out from the gutter, utter outcasts from society, those with nothing left to lose... but never one like you."
The Impmon looked at her from the corner of his eye. "Pleasant and cheerful. From a happy family. Options open to her the world over. I'm sorry to say, Boss is likely testing your worth and your resolve with this." It was why the Peckmon and Wolf weren't on this job, after all.
"I believe in Iris. So I'll believe in you."
