It was not uncommon to find humans in the digital world, but it may have been strange to find one so young by herself in such a rugged place as the Spartan Training Grounds. Long story short, the girl's Digimon partner had abandoned her, and DinoHumon had allowed her to stay there until she felt comfortable enough to leave. He had prepared a cot in the rest tent just for her, asking only one thing in exchange: that she behave herself. The first day passed by uneventfully. Digimon came and went, DinoHumon replenished supplies, and Unica wondered where her Biyomon was. The second day was when she really started pulling her weight. She watched DinoHumon re-stuff dummies, make beds, prepare stew, pick up trash, coach lower leveled Digimon, tend to wounds, and so on. He had help from others, but the majority of chores fell on his shoulders.
Just like Unica used to do with her daddy, she began to mimic his behaviors. Even if he didn't notice that someone was tailing him, it didn't take long before folks began to comment on DinoHumon's "little duckling." Even though she struggled with many of the tasks, she did her best to keep up. He would pick up large bundles of hay, sometimes four or five in one go, and Unica would barely be able to pull one behind her. She would grunt and groan and make all sorts of noises, leading someone to ask if she needed help. She hated being asked that. It made her feel like a baby. So she would usually shake her head, sneer, and make a comment along the lines of "No! I'm strong! I can do it!"
After about a week, Unica made herself at home in the training grounds, and DinoHumon had gotten used to having her around. The other residents and regular guests were beginning to grow familiar with the young girl's presence, even going so far as to call her "duckling" whenever they found her following DinoHumon around the campgrounds. She was proud of her ability to help out and actually do something useful, especially after what her partner had done... Unica shook that horrible memory from her head and got back to work fluffing the pillows, which was less fluffing and more slamming her hands against them so hard that they made sharp pumf sounds. The blankets, which were supposed to be straight and orderly, were ruffled and creased, but they were pulled up to the pillows, which was good enough for the seven-year-old girl. Satisfied with her bed-making abilities, Unica stepped out of the tent.

Fuu could never comprehend what lay within Bu's data that made the Ryudamon so...fight-hungry. Whatever it was, be it something from their parents (unlikely) or another thing mixed in with their data, the one way to sate this was to take frequent trips to the Training Grounds.
Bu loved the place. Fuu...not so much. The Dorumon was used to walking behind the Ryudamon as the latter ran into the training grounds to go wail on a dummy. The usual course of action that Fuu took was finding a place to nap until Bu got tired and she got told to drag her sister home. This time, however, was different. While Bu ran off to start wailing on the same poor training dummy (bless it's soul), Fuu noticed a peculiarity. A human, and a particularly small one at that, stepping out of a tent.
Should she approach? Well, it'd certainly serve to quell curiosity...The Dorumon walked towards Unica, tilting her head. "H-Hi, um...I don't believe I've seen you around here before, what's your name, small human...?" ...Why was the human so tiny? Seriously, she was like Fuu's height.

It was a day like any other in the Spartan Training Grounds; which meant that it was a very interesting day, all things considered! The place hummed with activity as everyone went through their activities; whether that was getting ready to train or help in the various chores that kept the place functioning, it seemed like everyone was more or less cheerful about it.
After all, everyone living here did so willingly; to become stronger and maybe evolve to the next stage, or maybe just because they had nowhere to go. In a sense, the residents of the Spartan Training Grounds were like a big family, even if one that was in a constant state of flux. Hard to dislike a life like that one.
Unless you hated to work to earn your keep or something, but those digimons could be weeded out fairly quickly, so it wasn't like that was that big of a deal.
Needless to say, and after that completely innecessary attempt at fleshing out the scene, a strange being would find himself atop the greeting Dorumon, apparently asleep. How Fuu hadn't realized that she had a freeloader atop her head the whole time? That's one of life's many mysteries.
The fact didn't change that there was a Paomon there, and he seemed to be in way more merry mood than his makeshift mount. He was even barking happily at the girl in front of him. Maybe that'd be enough to be noticed.

There were many oddities here in the digital world, but seeing a new creature or new power still filled Unica with a sense of wonder. No one could ever completely get over all the bizarre sights this planet had to offer. And there was no denying the shock and awe Unica felt when she was stopped by a furry, purple... What was it, exactly? A dinosaur? Bat? Fox? Whatever it was, it was adorable! If that wasn't enough, a tiny puffball with canine ears rested upon the purple fox-dragon's head. They were both too fluffy and too cute for Unica to handle. Her eyes widened and shimmered with excitement, her hands clasped together over her mouth, and a gentle squeal was emitted in spite of her best efforts to contain her giddiness.
Seeming to ignore this fact, the fox-dragon spoke up, commenting on the fact that she had never seen the young girl around. She asked for the child's name and Unica abided. "Unica!" she squeaked behind her hands. Remembering how her parents would always say that it was rude to cover one's mouth while speaking, Unica lowered her hands hurriedly and restated her name, "Unica!" Either not bothering with formalities or simply letting her eagerness get the better of her, the young girl lifted her hands just above the fox-dragon's head and waggled her fingers in a come here motion. "Can I hold your baby?" Unica asked, not meeting the purple creature's gaze as she spoke but directing the question to said creature nevertheless. It seemed as though she was under the assumption that the Paomon was Fuu's child.

Whatever it was that a Dorumon could be, Fuu definitely was. This definitely was a human child, too. Why was one in the Digital World alone...? That was a good question for the Dorumon to find the answer to later. She had other things to handle right now. "Unica..." That meant...Only in a language, right? Or unique? Possibly the latter.
The fox-dragon came a little bit closer, before she blinked. "B-Baby?" It was then, and only then did she realize there was a bit of a weight upon her head. A weight that began to yip and bark at Unica. Fuu reached up to gently lift the Paomon off of her head and give him a look over.
This. Was not any child of hers. "Ah, um...I-I think I'm a bit too young to be a mom. But, this baby does seem to like you. Do you know how to hold one of these?" Fuu inquired, while moving a claw up to gently pat the Paomon. While she wasn't the best at people, even Fuu knew the ancient law of the land.
All good boys deserve pats.

Unica. That was the human girl's name, apparently! The Dorumon's own name was still a big question mark, even though, like with many digimons, there was a fair chance of it being... Dorumon. Paomon himself didn't know what was the answer to such a riddle, but it wasn't like that mattered all that much.
Regrettably, his position had been given out and Fuu had finally discovered him! With his freeloading days over, Paomon sound found himself scooped by Fuu's claws while staring at her with big eyes. Most living beings would find such an expression impossible to resist, but one never knew when it came to dragons.
Some could be heartless.
There was only one thing to do in such a situation. A satisfied sigh came out of the tiny digimon's mouth as his body rubbed against the Dorumon's gentle claws. Pats were definitely appreciated!
What would happen next. Would Unica accept the infant digimon in between her arms? Or would she get cold feet at the last possible moment? Time to find out!

Unica nodded fervently in response to the fox-dragon's question about whether she knew how to hold "one of these." Although she had never been instructed on how to properly carry young Digimon, she did have experience doing so. Digimon of any level were welcome to visit the training grounds, but the most common visitors seemed to be in-training and rookie Digimon. Whenever a smaller Digimon got injured and was in need of assistance, Unica would help by carrying them to the medical tent. In her time at the facility, Dinohumon had never once said that the way she carried young Digimon was wrong, so she was fairly confident in her abilities. Plus, how hard could it be? This puppy was tiny and didn't even have any legs!
After the young Digimon received a few pats on the head from the fox-dragon, Unica took it with open arms. Her right hand brushed up against the bipedal creature's claws and, in that instant, the young girl became aware of the fox-dragon's more fearsome traits. Not only were the claws on its hands and feet something to take note of, but so were the razor-sharp teeth which lined its mouth and glistened in the sunlight as it spoke. Unica wrapped her arms around the small puppy now in her grasp, not so tight as to hurt but tight enough to ensure that the fox-dragon couldn't take the baby back. While the tensing of Unica's body revealed just how frightened she was becoming, the expression on her face said something else. She was curious. How could such a cute creature be so scary? Or was it a scary creature that was being so cute?
Unica was staring, doing her best to rationalize whether this stranger was a nice individual worthy of being trusted or a mean individual looking to do harm. It was then that Dinohumon's words entered her mind. He once had to sit her down and explain that she shouldn't judge Digimon based solely on their appearance. He tried to explain that some Digimon did manifest physical traits to match their personality and morality, though such things usually only affected higher level Digimon. Even still, Dinohumon told her not to stereotype against any visitor just because she believed they looked frightening. Unica knew firsthand how deceiving looks could be -- Birdie was such a pretty creature, but she turned out to be mean and hostile. She promised to do her best.
With that, Unica stopped staring and glanced down at the puppy in her arms. So soft. So cute. So innocent. "You're a good puppy," Unica assured. While keeping her arms wrapped around the young Digimon, Unica glanced back up at the fox-dragon. The creature wasn't so frightening after all. "Are you looking for Dino-Human?" she asked in the best I'm-a-professional-and-I-take-my-work-seriously voice she could muster. Most visitors who approached her out of no where were usually looking for Dinohumon and had heard through the grapevine that "his duckling" knew where he was. That wasn't always the case, but it was never too difficult to track him down and Unica was happy to help.

Fuu's demeanor was a bit...reserved for something that received so fearsome a description. Despite her magnificent fluff, she was still a vaguely draconic creature with claws and teeth meant to chomp through things. She was quite happy that Unica appeared to know how to hold babies! Which was nice, because despite the meme going that Fuu was actually Paomon's mom (she wasn't), she did not know how to hold in-trainings or fresh.
And the babies didn't do well with her for that reason. At least, that's what Fuu thought. The Dorumon gave a smile towards Unica and Paomon, pleased to see this interaction was going quite swimmingly. She did, however, tilt her head. "Dino-Huma--...Oh, are you talking about a Dinohumon? I...uh. I've never met him. My sister's looking for someone good to fight, though, so...uh. Maybe?"

Paomon was promptly handed from the Dorumon's hands to Unica's. It wasn't hard to see, but a child's hands were way more fitting for fine tasks such as giving a good boy™ the best pats. And to say the least, she was doing a pretty good job at taking care of the small puppy! The digimon was already quite comfortable and demonstrated that by rubbing his small body against Unica's hands.
It seemed like the conversation at hand was kinda awkward. Unica wasn't sure of Fuu's intent, and... she wasn't sure of her own intent either. Did she want to see Dinohumon or not? It seemed like the biggest question at the moment, alongside that, apparently, the Dorumon had a sister with an unquenchable thirst for battle. How would that end? That was a mystery, but it wasn't like the digimon was too worried about it. He could spend the entire day in between the young girl's hands.
That'd feel great.

In that moment, with a fluffy puppy in her arms and a friendly yet frightening-looking fox-dragon talking to her, Unica realized she had the worst luck. Why couldn't either of these two Digimon be her partner? Why couldn't any of the friends she met along the way be her partner? Or, heck, why couldn't Birdie have just been a nicer Digimon in general? It seemed like someone was out there pulling strings and making her life difficult on purpose. It just wasn't fair. What had she done to deserve such a foul, traitorous Digimon partner as Birdie? She didn't say any of this aloud, though. She never would. Speaking about what happened between her and her partner would solidify everything in her mind, and she'd have to accept the fact that she had been abandoned. Not just that. She had been abandoned by someone who was supposed to always be there for her.
Work helped keep her mind off the dreadful reality of things, and she was grateful for these Digimon's company. When the fox-dragon mentioned that her sister might be looking for someone to spar with, Unica visibly perked up. "I can do that!" she exclaimed. She could find someone for the fox-dragon's sister to fight! Or, at least, she could try. One would think that looking for a competitor at the training grounds would be an easy task to accomplish, but it actually proved difficult most of the time. Those who wished to battle against other Digimon tended to do so at the coliseum in Terminus City or otherwise away from the watchful eye of Dinohumon. Those who came to the training ground were usually looking to train solo, find a mentor, or seek a place to rest. Of course, it was not impossible to find another Digimon to dual with, but it was less likely than one might expect.
With her left hand still cradling the small puppy, Unica used her other hand to point in a random direction. "This way!" she declared before marching in the same direction she was pointing. "Follow me!" she instructed with a wave of her right hand, doing her best to encourage the fox-dragon to come along. In Unica's short time at the campgrounds, she learned that the more combative Digimon tended to spend time beating up the training dummies. The dummies were the closest thing to fighting a real enemy without actually fighting a real enemy. If the trio were going to find anyone who would be willing to fight the fox-dragon's sister, they would find someone here.
The group approached the small field of dummies, and Unica walked up to the first individual she saw: a dinosaur who appeared to be wearing samurai armor. Little did she know that this creature was the fox-dragon's sister, the one they were meant to be finding an opponent for. It was an honest mistake. The fox-dragon and the samurai dinosaur didn't look related. In fact, they were two completely different species. Before anyone could stop her, Unica spoke up, hollering over the sound of grunts and thuds in order to be heard. "Excuse me! Excuse me!" She made sure to keep her distance as to avoid being accidentally struck by the Digimon's attacks. As she called out, Unica waved her free hand in the air above her head to try and get the Digimon's attention.

It was unfortunate that destiny hadn't picked these two to be partnered to the poor girl, indeed. But that was something that Fuu was unaware of entirely. The Dorumon seemed pleased at the fact that Unica definitely knew where a Dinohumon might be. "Hey, Bu, come here! We might have found someone for you to fight!"
"It's SPARRING, not fighting!" Bu barked right back at her sister as the group approached the field of training dummies, Bu going to town on one in particular, before the sound of 'Excuse me! Excuse me!' prompted her to stop, and whirl around to find a little girl with a Paomon in her arm...accompanied by her sister.
"...Can I help you?" The Ryudamon tilted her head, before she looked to Fuu. "Sis, what's she want? What's that in her arm?" ...It was very unsubtle whispering. "...I kinda wanna pet it..."

From his privileged position in between Unica's arms, Paomon was enjoying quite the ride about the Spartan Training Grounds. Getting to know this place for the first was great, especially when not having to move a muscle to do so! Being a stowaway on Fuu's head and then a guest at the small girl's hands had proven to be supremely convenient! Nevermind the fact that everyone present seemed to like him; this might've been the best day of his life, really! Now, if only he could remember what he was supposed to do in this place...
Anyway! The group finally managed to close the gap that separated them from Bu, Paomon himself barking happily at the armored dragon and her antics regarding training slash fighting slash sparring. Once the Ryudamon's desires to pet him were heard, there was only one possible course of action; to stare at her with big puppy eyes. Did that mean he wanted to be picked up by Bu? Probably, probably not. Don't ask Paomon for complex plans, he was here mostly on a whim.
A question lingered in the air, though. What would the Bu do in regards to Unica's future proposal to match her with DinoHumon? Once again, it was time to find out.

The reason Unica approached the samurai dinosaur was because the fox-dragon had said that her sister was looking for someone to spar with. And so, in the young girl's mind, this task didn't require the assistance of Dinohumon. She could very easily find a Digimon willing to engage in combat without asking for help. The samurai dinosaur who was beating up on the dummies seemed like an superb candidate; however, just as Unica started waving and hollering to get the combative Digimon's attention, the fox-dragon called out to them calling them Bu. Blue? The samurai dinosaur who was supposed to fight against the fox-dragon's sister... was the sister! At this realization and upon locking eyes with the samurai dinosaur, Unica lowered her hand and scratched the small puppy between the ears anxiously.
It seemed she had made a mistake. What would she do now? Well, first thing's first! A proper introduction was in order. "Hello, Blue!" Unica chimed as she approached the Digimon sisters, mispronouncing Bu's name in the process. "My name's Unica, and this is Captain Puppy-Dog Snowball," she introduced while glancing down at the baby Digimon in her arms. The truth was she had no idea what the small dog's name actually was -- if he even had one -- but he hadn't offered it, so Unica opted to give him one of her own. At least it was a fitting name for a spherical while creature that resembling a canine.
After giving the siblings time to say their piece on the matter of introductions, Unica shifted gears back to finding a combatant to go up against the samurai dinosaur. "I know the way, follow me!" she instructed again, marching down the well-worn path and not bothering to explain to Bu what they were doing; The Digimon either could've continued fighting against dummies until Unica found her a sparring partner or she could've tagged along, the decision was hers alone. The group traveled through the training grounds, stopping on occasion so the young girl could ask if anyone wanted to fight against "a fight-y dinosaur," but most individuals didn't seem interested. As they walked, Unica made sure to keep her eyes out for Dinohumon.

Was Bu smart? No, but at the same time she wasn't really that dumb. She was able to infer that Blue was her and...Puppy-Dog Snowball was, unfortunately, the Paomon. The Ryudamon could not think of any worse a name than this, and this was the same Ryudamon who thought naming a rock 'Rock Rock' was a great idea. "Uh...My name's Bu. Like 'Boo.'" She tried to clarify. was it in vain? Who knows.
Fuu just kinda shook her head at her sister, who reached out to try petting Paomon briefly before Unica proceeded to march off once more. The only difference this time was that the Ryudamon had been in tow. "So where exactly are we headed...?" The Ryudamon couldn't really help but inquire.
She -was- kinda curious.

New names were already being given to both the Ryudamon and the Paomon. Now, they were Blue and Captain Puppy-Dog Snowball. A couple of happy barks indicated that at least the digimon enveloped by Unica's arms was more than happy about the temporary name he had been given. He'd be sure to carry his new title with all the pride that a fresh level could display. Which, granted, wasn't a lot, but still!
Thankful about the continuous affection he had been shown, the Captain remained vigilant, just in case he noticed Dinohumon's presence before either Unica, Bu, or Mom could notice him. Something that, in all frankness, was quite unlikely.
Unica would probably be the first to notice Dinohumon's figure at the distance, considering that she was the one specifically looking for him, and because she was probably quite familiar with the digimon by now. If approached, he'd look at her with kind eyes, even if they would flash with a measure of suspicion towards the two dragons and the mammal. Regrettably, it was hard to not feel like that considering the incident that had transpired the first time Unica had gotten here.
Luckily, he was quite good at getting rid of that visage as quickly as possible. "Hello there, little ones." He greeted, his tone as amicable as his expression. "Are you looking for anything in particular?"
