For this prompt, we'll be doing both Under New Character Management and Once Upon A Time. I'd like posts for both, please! Today had been a busy day for the Saboro household, indeed. Earlier, her family had received an invitation that had been sent to the entire kingdom, from none other than their elusive prince! Or, more likely, from whoever was in charge of sending mass letters for said prince. But, who would really note those little details? After spending the entirety of her day ensuring that her step-sisters had everything just right on their own dresses, and curling their hair for them, Amy had been left alone to tend to their home. Despite the invite being sent to every young woman, her step-mother had forbidden her to leave. After all, there were no nice dresses in the home that would fit her! Or, so the woman said. So, instead, the teen was left with cleaning up the messes that had been left behind for her. Slipping into the garden, the brunette took a deep breath. A frown fought itself on her face, while she attempted to bite back the expression. There was no point in being upset about something that she couldn't control, right? "Not much that can be done about it," she murmured to herself, looking at the sky. Or, was there? "Depends," a voice started, while a black-haired girl slipped around the corner of the house, and into the garden. "What are you wanting to do? If you need help, I may be able to do something for you." Shouldn't this girl be heading to the event, also? Everyone had been invited, and she certainly seemed pretty enough! Furthermore, why was she letting herself into Amelie's garden? Either way, she deserved some sort of answer. "It's silly," Amy finally responded, a blush tinting her face. After all, she hadn't expected someone to hear her talking to herself! "It was just about the ball. You don't need to worry about it." But, it seemed that the other girl felt that she did need to worry. "You want to go?" The silence that met the question was enough to answer. Even if Amy had been pondering answering, the stranger decided that enough time had passed. At this rate, she would miss the ball even with assistance! "I can help with that. If you close your eyes." It couldn't hurt to entertain the idea, right? Following instructions, the teen stood with eyes shut. A soft tapping could be felt on her shoulders, material growing heavier inexplicably. And, after a moment, "you can open your eyes now." And upon doing so? A long, gorgeous dress was immediately obvious on her skin. Where had her previously tattered dress gone? How had this stranger changed Amelie's clothing without her even realizing? It was as if it were magic! Was any of it real? A pair of glass slippers were soon pressed into her hands. "Here are shoes, to match," the stranger suggested, making Amy suddenly realize that she was standing barefoot. Which, simply, would not fly when it came to a party of this sort. But, how did the mysterious girl draw a line at putting shoes on people's feet, if she had done a complete wardrobe change otherwise? "Keep in mind, if you stay out past midnight, everything will turn back to rags." What? "You're like a fairy godmother, aren't you?" Perhaps, not much of a mother, considering she seemed to be Amy's age! But, perhaps a fairy wasn't too far off! To this, she received a small smile from the black haired girl. "I usually go by Ooi." A strange name, but Amy certainly wouldn't judge someone for that! Especially someone that had been so quick to assist her! "Thank you," she answered, at a loss for words still. And, even moreso, as 'Ooi' led her to the street. "One more gift," she added, a black haze seeming to blink across Amelie's vision briefly. After rapidly fluttering her eyes, a lovely coach had suddenly appeared! "It has the same time limit as your outfit. So, you may want to hurry." Once Amy had lifted herself into the chariot, she leaned out the door, planning to offer a hand to help the other girl into the cart. After all, she would surely want to come, too! But, once she had turned to help, she found herself alone. Despite few places to hide, Ooi seemed to have vanished! Instead, the brunette slowly closed the door to the chariot, after contemplating getting out to find the other girl. Hopefully, she'd have another chance to thank her at a later date. But, for now? Lips pressed into a timid smile, while blue eyes peered out the window, seeing the castle grow closer with every second. Soon, she found herself at the gate, where a butler would make his way to the door, and put out a hand to help the girl down from her ride. In a few more steps, she would be entering the palace, and possibly catch a glimpse of the person that this party was about. [Word Count: 832]

Posts x2, please.
By Impurreal Edict, the whole Kingdom will hold a celebration in honor of Prince Ashpurr's latest exploits at the front. Evfury family, and meowst impawntantly, evfury young woman is invited to the pawlace tonight.
Don't miss it!
—The Grand Duchess. The Noble Callum Family; a bloodline that had held the Kingdom's throne for generations. Sure, each of its members was quirky on their own way, but they were overall just rulers, at least as far as nobility went. After all, who would say that organizing a positively huge ball as an attempt to get the family's heir a bride was a sensible decision? At least in the King's eyes, that was the best course of action to be taken, considering that young Asher didn't seem all too interested in 'settling down', so to say.
Preposterous. Didn't he have an ounce of respect for his father's wishes? About the real possibility of the old man dying without getting to meet his grandchildren? The mere thought saddened him.
He just wanted to spend the rest of his days playing with kids. Was the wish something that bad to face setbacks at every turn? In his mind, the long-time friendship between his son and Charlotte —or Whiskers, as Asher liked to call her— would bloom into more intense feelings as soon as the two came of age, but that just... didn't happen. The two remained as close friends, but nothing more. And to add insult to injury, the Grand Duchess never got rid of that childish quirk she had on her speech.
Sometimes, those puns had the ability to grate on his nerves like nothing else could. At least that was the silver lining of the whole situation; his grandchildren's first words being mingled with 'cat-speak' would probably result in a heart attack.
Enough of that, however! Currently, both the King and Grand Duchess were in the palace's mezzanine, gazing at how the event unfolded from the comfort of an inner balcony. For now, the daughters of each family were being introduced to the Prince, who didn't seem very amused at the whole ordeal, even if he retained a mostly respectful visage... despite the occasional, expertly-concealed yawn.
"I swear. The nerve that kid has..." A frustrated huff escaped his throat. "He better pick the mother of my grandchild-his queen tonight."
On the other side, Whiskers couldn't seem to be more entertained in the face of both father and son's annoyance; at each other, and at the situation that had been forced into the redhead. "Let's trust on Ashpurr. I'm pawsitive on him laying his paws on the purrfect purrincess, should he find her!"
Even if Charlotte's words were meant as encouragement, the king could feel a migraine threatening to fray his already fragile mood. Why... why did she have to talk like that? What about Prince Charming himself? He continued with his routine of politely greeting every lady as they introduced themselves to him; a polite, yet some curt and stiff bow, a spare compliment or another if he felt like it, and then to the next one.
Was this really meant to find his other half? Because, thus far, it wasn't working. Or at least, it didn't.. at first. He only felt like he got somewhere when, in an idle moment, gazed upon a figure by the entrance of the palace, trying to find her way into the gargantuan building. He didn't know why, but.. there was something special about that girl; how she carried herself weightlessly, or maybe the placid smile on her face? He didn't know the exact reason, but Asher just felt like he couldn't wait until it was her turn to meet him. She was like the sunrise that starts every day.
Quickly, he excused himself before walking at a brisk pace towards where she was. "Do you mind if I join you?" Props to him for trying to start off on the right foot with someone, for once! Words: 666.

Was this entire event a little intimidating? Of course. Amy hadn't been to such an event before! And, the idea of even attending smaller parties had long-since faded. After her mother had passed away, and her father remarried, her step-siblings were the only two that had the time and wardrobe for such events! Though, the dress that Ooi had provided for the teen could outshine anything in her step-siblings' wardrobes. It simply put their outfits to shame! Perhaps, it was a good thing that this dress would fade at midnight. If the sisters found it, Amelie would surely see it ripped to shreds.
Thinking of them, the girl had to glance around the party to see if she could spot her sisters among the crowd. Would they recognize her, if they noticed her? As unlikely as it was -- considering they barely looked at her on an average day -- she had to wonder if it would cause any troubles for her. To have any attention of the sort drawn to her was a terrible idea. After all, she would have to return home to the two. And, if she had been spotted here, it couldn't go over very well!
Thus far, they were nowhere in sight.
Someone else was, however. Someone that the brunette never would have guessed would approach her so suddenly! And, without any prompting, at that. She had barely gathered her bearings on this giant place, when she noticed that he was walking toward her!
Blue eyes focused on the redhead, in an attempt to avoid noticing any of the stares that fell onto her. Surely, the stares from strangers were more like glares, but she wouldn't let others ruin what would hopefully be a great moment. For once, the moment was going to be about her. And, about the prince. And, definitely never about sunrises. Ever. Everyone knows that sunsets are better, anyway.
It didn't take a close look to easily identify who the person was that had pulled her from her thoughts. Glasses and bright red hair would catch anyone's attention right away, as they were clear traits that belonged to certain members of the royal family. The teenager had to admit that he was pretty handsome. But, that wasn't something that could be said to a stranger. Especially to someone who was more-than-obviously the prince of the kingdom!
"N-No!" Amy immediately said, looking a bit like a deer caught in the headlights. Noticing her blunder, she quickly shook her head slightly and adopted a... normal tone. "I mean, sure. I'd love for you to join me."

Hesitating for a second at the surprising response from the girl, Asher flashed a small smile. What, had she been off in her own world? He could relate to that all too well! In a sense, it could be said that this meeting had been dictated by destiny; almost as if in every conceivable universe, the duo was just stuck dealing with each other, regardless of their upbringing or... anything else, really!
A not-so-small, yet cute deerlet caught in the headlights of a proposal that might've been extremely bold, especially when it came from a complete stranger. Maybe not so much on its original setting, but was that really important at the moment? What mattered now, at least to Asher, was the strikingly beautiful brunette in front of him. The redhead had to admit, looks weren't everything, but when the average female of the kingdom wasn't... very desirable, he was willing to take a chance this time!
"Ah, right," the redhead hummed. He knew more than well —Whiskers was a living example, after all!— that the habit doesn't make the monk. Would the unnamed girl go through the usual pleasantries, like making a small reverence, or offer her hand to him before their stroll would begin? It wasn't like he cared, but those would be interesting to see, nonetheless! Any gesture would be reciprocated just as the boring court etiquette demanded. But in case those didn't, the young adult would begin to walk placidly towards the palace's main garden.
Was it okay for Asher to introduce himself, considering that she probably knew more than well who he was? Not needed, yet, that didn't make him any less curious. "First time by the palace, miss...?" His voice trailed off rather convincingly. Would the mysterious guest pick on the cue? Play dumb? Or be genuinely oblivious to it? Time to find out! A thick curtain fell amid the gap that separated most of the guests from the couple walking in the garden's direction. A timely gesture, indeed.
"I won't say 'I told mew', but I told mew!" The Great Duchess' expression was positively radiant at the development. "That purrtain will take care of the two lovebirds. Think we should begin the ball proper fur the rest? Doubt evfuryone is going to stand there idly while those two go on a date."
A nod was the only answer she got. The King was too happy to entertain Charlotte's antics. "Let's get the purrty started!"
The music followed suit almost instantly. Words: 1085.

Luckily, Amy's initially strange response was taken in stride. That was kind of a relief.
Maybe, it was fate. Stuck dealing with Asher forever, across the timelines and universes! In a strange way, it almost had felt like the 'deerlet' had met the prince before! Of course, it could very well have been a matter of the prince's family being so well-known that it felt like she had met him before. It was the only logical excuse! Surely, things like destiny couldn't really make the two meet, regardless of the universe in which they resided!
Though, if she actually had read the letter from a certain catpunning Grand Duchess, the familiarity would have felt even stronger. Instead, her stepmother had read the letter aloud, using proper words, rather than pretending to be a cat, herself! Why was it that nobody would entertain the Grand Duchess and her speech choices?
But, Asher may be surprised to find that there were no reverences. No gestures for him to match. Not at all because she didn't want him to lead her to the garden with hands held, but because it just hadn't really crossed her mind. Instead, she'd follow his lead and the pair would begin their walk in relative silence.
Until Asher would begin to talk, at least. It was no surprise that he wouldn't introduce himself. There was no need to say that she was pleased to meet him. Everyone knew who the redhead was, and surely any woman here would find it a 'pleasure' to meet the young prince! His line trailed off in an obvious manner. Right. Just because she knew his name, wouldn't mean he knew hers! But, to give him a name would be a risk to out her to her siblings, upon returning home. What would her family do, if they found that she had gone to the ball without their permission? So, instead, she would opt to play dumb.
"It is." She responded, a small smile gracing her face. At least everything was going well for now. But, how long would she be able to ignore the obvious lack of titles? For now, the brunette would have to wait and see how long she could draw the conversation, without a name being explicitly requested. With the curtain drawn, and the garden nearing, it seemed like their time together would be far more peaceful than Amy could have ever expected. The amount of people nearby had dwindled significantly, to the point that it almost felt isolated!
So, at this point, the observation to the palace seemed suiting for the area that they were in, closed off from most of the world. "It's far more tranquil than I've expected it to be; feels a tad nice, doesn't it?" Would the prince find it odd that she was inquiring his own opinion on a place that he surely spent far too much time at? Let alone, with a party on the other side of a curtain.
Perhaps, it felt like a conversation that was better held over hot chocolate and coffee, during a rainstorm. What an odd thought. Not one that would hinder the conversation, of course. After all, the garden certain did look quite tranquil.
Either way, it seemed that she would find a way to hold a conversation through their walk to the garden. Would the prince continue to humor her?

An intriguing woman, for sure. Whether the atmosphere was probably way too grand for what amounted to a glorified matchmaking event; surely, Asher himself would've preferred a more discreet approach; maybe a local café and over a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.
It wasn't like he had a choice in this, anyway. Not to say, that this mysterious girl was both elusive and preferred to skip formalities; a breath of fresh air, honestly! The redhead's back couldn't get sorer, even if he tried.
How would he navigate this strange conversation? For now, it seemed like the brunette preferred to be the one asking the questions, rather than answering.them! An interesting game that, at least for now, he was willing to entertain.
But that didn't mean the young adult would go easy on her! "If it's your first time, then hopefully the palace is to your liking, Miss... Unnamed." Asher managed a bit of a smile after the comment. He didn't mind not getting a response, but he wasn't letting go of the chance to have some harmless fun either. Besides, the brunette seemed more than a little stiff at the moment; even if he wasn't an actor in this life, it was more than a bit obvious that she was a bit uncomfortable at the situation. Maybe that'd help her to let go a bit?
The redhead didn't know why, but the girl in front of her seemed like the type that could match without a hitch any kind of teasing remark thrown at her. Or maybe those were just idle thoughts.
For now, the young adult would just walk and enjoy the moment and the scenery. He wasn't precisely in a hurry, and the night was young. "It is," he hummed. "Usually, the palace is bustling with activity, so this feels like a vacation of sorts. Guess I should thank the Great Duchess for that. I think you two would get along pretty well."
Then again, Whiskers was so easygoing that she got along with pretty much anyone. Except for dogs; that was her only deal breaker. Luckily, that wasn't an immediate concern, unless mystery girl happened to be a dog owner; that'd make things a little more complicated.
But not for this night, at least. Even if the conversation was flowing somewhat slowly, the silence wasn't uncomfortable, at least for him; most girls she had met this night were just too focused on selling themselves that somebody just wanting to talk casually was pretty nice, in comparison.
"I hope you don't mind the conversation while we walk. Why don't you tell me a bit about you?" For a second, her voice trailed off a bit. "I could talk about me, but that would probably be repeating what everyone else already says. A bit boring, isn't it?"
While the statement sounded arrogant on paper, being one of the kingdom's celebrities didn't leave Asher a lot of room for privacy. I wouldn't surprise him if most of the city knew the color of the underwear he was using at the moment, in all honesty! Words: 1601.

It seemed that the duo's 'game' would continue, as Asher hadn't lost interest in his mysterious 'date' for the evening. Was it partially due to the mystery? Or, was it nice that she wasn't partaking in every formal gesture and action that existed to mankind? It was hard to tell where the line was between 'breath of fresh air' and 'plebeian' was drawn.
Stiff? Stiff might have been an understatement! Then again, could anyone really blame her? Maybe, as the night went on, she could unwind. Hopefully, sooner rather than later! Giving a 'thoughtful' look around, the girl pretended to contemplate if the palace was to her liking. After a solid few seconds of what seemed to be verging on disapproval, the brunette flashed a smile. "I guess it's pretty nice," she answered, with a much more playful tone. "Mister Prince." Of course she had to add on the addition, after Asher had given her such a 'name' to make up for her lack of one!
It was odd that the more they spoke, the more that the initial feeling of having met before washed over her. After all, who in their right mind would be willing to toy around with, or taunt, a prince? Aside from a certain girl who spoke in cat-tongues.
The idea of the palace usually being far from tranquil didn't seem overly surprising, when she thought about it, though. "Seems like a pretty busy life," Amy stated, with an undertone of seriousness. Surely, a prince would be caught up in the activities that made this place bustle, right? Or to hold some certain standard. "But... if right now you feel like you're on a vacation, you should make sure to enjoy it!" After all, these sorts of events didn't happen every day, right?
Or did they? Amy wouldn't know.
As far as getting along with the Grand Duchess? "We probably have a fair share of things in common, I'd like to guess," she commented, with a smile. What would those things be? Maybe they would be found out the next time she would meet the redhead. If they were to meet again, that was! Maybe it would remain forever shrouded in mystery or something similarly spooky! No real way to know. At least, for now!
At least Amy didn't own a dog!
And, at least Asher didn't seem to mind the casual conversation. While some women surely worked hard to gain his attention, it didn't seem to be Amelie's intent at all! After all, where would the fun be in a night of freedom, if she was busy making a chore of it? Nobody wanted that! It wasn't like she had expected to actually catch the prince's attention! But, now that she had it, she found herself a touch surprised that he was concerned about the idea of the two of them idly talking.
"Don't worry. I don't." Imagining walking in complete silence together seemed a bit boring, in all honesty! But, as far as talking about herself? Well, that was where things got a little awkward! Something to consider a conundrum, even! "What abou~t me?" What was there to say? When one was relatively confined to being a housemaid, it was hard to think of anything particularly interesting! But, she wasn't going to sound distressed about it! "I like to write about things that are going on in town, sometimes," she added, to avoid dodging too many questions. "Maybe one day, you'll see one of them in the news," the brunette joked.
Did the noble family even read those little news articles that were passed around the town? It wasn't very likely, in hindsight. Though, the thought of spending her time writing could be considered strange. Surely, not as strange as a hobby like 'singing to wilderness animals' or 'riding in carriages made from pumpkins'!
Not that she would dwell on that, when she couldn't steal the entire spotlight from the redhead! "There has to be something about you that the entire kingdom doesn't know," she pointed out, "surely you don't let everyone know everything, am I right?" She could be wrong. Who really knew!

A game... what kind of game they were playing? Cat and mouse seemed to be only mildly fitting, considering how the redhead constantly chased after the smallest tidbit of information, only to receive a vague remark as a reply.
Surely, it seemed like his date loved to throw around half-answers or shrouded tidbits. In a sense, he could say that being cryptic was almost part of her being. A cryptic... core, of sorts? If that even made sense.
That quality, coupled with the girl's unpredictable reactions, managed to keep Asher on edge. Was that a good or a bad thing, though? To be honest, not even he was sure about that, but at the very least, it seemed like the mysterious brunette was letting out a bit. While somewhat worried at first, the young adult managed a small smile at the small act put out in front of him.
"Those expressions were very convincing." He remarked, taking a moment to adjust his glasses a bit or maybe just to take a closer look at her. "Ever considered on being an actress? I've seen professionals display less skill than you."
Even at a glance, it seemed like neither person was willing to lose on this nebulous fight! Why they were fighting for? No idea, but the atmosphere wasn't quite friendly, that was for sure!
Or maybe, the pair just enjoyed teasing each other, despite being pretty much perfect strangers and the lady going as far as to remain unwilling to say her name. But it wasn't like the situation wasn't enjoyable, anyway.
A busy life was something more or less expected from royalty. Unlike what most people thought; managing a kingdom was a very stressful task, devoid of most of the glamour it may outwardly radiate. Luxurious and maybe glamorous? Of course, but also exhausting.
"You'd be surprised." A small shrug ended his sentence. "But I'd like to think it's not that bad. And I think you're right; considering how the palace's whole personnel worked for this ball, the least I can do is to enjoy myself." For all what he knew, his next party would probably be either his or Whiskers wedding, were any of those to ever happen!
At plain sight, the similarities between Miss Unnamed and Lottie were fairly obvious. "You'd surprised. If I didn't know better, I'd say that you two are sisters, or something. I'm sure you'll get along." Maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration? But, considering that the two of them seemed to be a little too keen on teasing him, there was at least some common ground!
An amused expression ensued at the words that followed. Despite her initial, nervous disposition, the brunette's current tone was... interesting, for the lack of a better word. A journalist of sorts? Did that profession even exist on the current age? Or was... chronicler the better term? Scribe? Asher didn't know, that was for sure! "I bet that the journalism works even better when you experience it yourself."
He chuckled; was that a suggestion, or an offhand comment? With Asher, it was hard to know at times! Just like when faced by a question that seemed simple in the surface, but was actually deceptively complex. "Something the entire kingdom doesn't know?" He hummed, apparently deep in thought for a second. At least until his expression shifted into a smirk.
"I got this bottle labeled as Wasabi Beer for my birthday. I've been meaning to try it for a while, but I don't like drinking alone and no one wants to do it with me. Hope that's good enough for a news article? 'The Prince's Secret Life', or something."
Of course, those comments were meant as a joke. Right? Words: 2200.
