Enkidu was swift to forgive that slight. "Eh, it's fine, I guess you didn't mean anything bad by it, just, kinda rubs my fur the wrong way, you know?" he clarified, offering to shake his hand to make things okay. Enkidu was rather sick of others assuming he was an evil digimon just because he was Virus attribute and black fur. In fact it surprised him to know that he would be much less unusual on Earth because of his pelt color than normal Gaomons. Dogs in this world did have black and white fur like he did, but none had blue fur. That he was useful in this regard at the very least had been welcome news.
Bellamy meanwhile couldn't help but stare at what Johan had to say and Dokamon's reaction. "...seriously? Silverware? Oh... yeesh, that's horrible, I'm sorry..." he paused then blinked. "Wait, you've been to America?" he asked, wondering how the heck that was possible. Yes, he was expecting a trip there this year since the James family returned to Omaha every 3 years, but, huh, he thought it'd be something rather tricky to do. Well... he supposed if V-Pet programs were involved it'd be easier. Not that he'd ever want to be used in one.
"Well, uh, we prefer using knives and forks to eat our food over chopsticks, so, we'll try our best to not eat in front of you" Colin offered.
Bellamy meanwhile was blindsided when Renamon snatched the fork from him. "Hey what the hell?!" he snapped as Renamon threw the implement into the bin. "Did you just call me a kitten?!" he snapped.
"Bells, calm down, it's not worth it" Luke said, holding his brother's shoulder. Bellamy took some breaths to cool off, but still made a bitch-glare at Renamon while doing so.
Sophie meanwhile watched this, and decided that it would be best for her to make a ruling. She had so far let her brother's digimon rather loose here, so she decided to make it clear. "Also, guys, while we're on this floor, please take your jobs seriously. There's delicate equipment around, the personnel working here are trained and specifically cleared, and it wouldn't be good for them if you guys messed around in front of them. So please, behave yourselves on this floor? On the next one you can let loose as you want though".
When she put it to them like that, Bellamy and Luke felt a little guilty at messing around like that. Even though they felt like they were surrounded by family; having lived with Colin, Sophie and Lantis for 2 years, they had forgotten that they were meant to be agents here.
"...sorry about that" Bellamy said, sincerely. Luke bowed his head and said similar.
"That's alright, boys, let's put that aside for now" Sophie said. "Now then. The top floor... the residential area".
She would thus lead them to the top floor of the building. This was set out as a floor of a motel. There was about a dozen residential apartments, as well as a kitchen and dining area. Further to that, there was a gym, recreation room, common room and other rooms with various amenities.
"Every member of AEGIS will be welcome to an apartment on this floor" Sophie said. "It's not quite five-star hotel standards, but, you'll be provided with sleeping quarters, bathrooms, living quarters and alike. The kitchen will provide you 3 meals a day free of charge as long as you're active agents; and we have made precautions that digimon within this building cannot be detected from the outside, so you guys will have full privacy as long as you're here. Ah, yes, by the way, if you or anyone you trust need a safe house in Shibuya, this would be the an option for you".
"Huh, neat..." Bellamy remarked, but Lantis shook his head.
"Not you guys. You heard mom and dad, you gotta sleep at home until Colin turns 18" the Leomon stated.
Bellamy pouted at that, but accepted it all the same. Colin meanwhile was fascinated at the setup here.

"Yeah, I can understand that very much... many humans in history weren't even considered human beings at various points, but I won't bore you with those facts unless you want to learn about them." Things started off on the wrong foot with Enkidu, but they seemed to be easily fixed up. Johan wouldn't make that mistake with Digimon again... well, sometimes he gets excited and it just slips, but he'll try not to.
What can't be fixed, however, was Johan's relationship with Silence. They saw him accidentally insult Enkidu, who they seemed to know well, and they saw Dokamon's embarrassing fear and his reaction to it. The Renamon even called Dokamon a kitten, causing the latter to growl at her... even though Bellamy thought that he was the one being called that. Dokamon looked at the others in anger. "If any of you bring this up, I will not hesitate to flatten your face in."
"There's no need to threaten them, Dokamon. Now come on, let's just move on with the tour already."
At least Bellamy seemed understanding about the whole thing. He even brought up the part where Dokamon was in America. "Indeed I was. It was an abnormal phenomenon, since the rift between the two worlds is mainly only weak in the Shibuya ward of Japan. Yet somehow I ended up in Johan's bedroom in a place called Minnesota. We did not stay long as he was packing up for his plane ride here."
And now the tour continued with the group on the top floor, which were the residential quarters. It was super amazing; there was a gym, a living room, a kitchen, and many, MANY bedrooms for the agents. Johan just gave a light smile to this sight, and Dokamon... did not react at all. He would also be staying away from the kitchen and dining areas, of course.
"Well, Dokamon... what do you think?" Johan asked, having a private conversation with Dokamon. "This place is easily better than the student dorm we live in right now. Plus the train station is right across the street."
"I cannot deny that it is better. Less risk of me being exposed to another human. However... I think I'll base my judgement off of if the Xros General is staying or not."
"Come on, they don't instantly HATE you now because of it. If I had a fork stabbed into my eye all of a sudden like what happened to you... well, I'd be hesitant to pick one up myself. Plus it was the first time you felt actual pain, right? Anyways, just give it a chance, okay?"
"..." Dokamon still wasn't sure.

Renamon had intended to call Dokamon a kitten, not Bellamy. However, she did not feel the need to confirm her insult target or deny that it was him. All she did was ask the imp in return, "Does it fit?"
"Enough." The captain's command wasn't loud or forceful, but it was firm and serious enough for her to get the message that she was taking the conflict farther than he was willing to allow. "We are guests, and those are our comrades." The captain then gave each of those insulted an acknowledging nod, his form of nonverbal apology. Then he reassured Sophie, "This display of unprofessionalism is an anomaly, I assure you."
Hopefully the tour of the fourth floor distracted everyone. It sure captured Silence's attention. "This is... really, really nice. I'm impressed."
"Oh-"
"-hell-"
"-yes-"
"-our-"
"-own-"
"-rooms!"
"Maybe that's pushing it a bit-"
"General, I have a suggestion." Commandramon looked up at Tadayoshi straight in the eye, who looked back himself intrigued. "We've discussed moving you out of that place. You refuse, and I respect that. But maybe the best place for the rest of us is here. You wouldn't have to leave your regular life, and we would always be close at hand but not in your way." Tadayoshi raised an eyebrow, interested.
"That sounds quite nice. Let's talk it over later, but that's a tempting option."

Bellamy seethed at that insult, but there was little he could do about it with his brother holding him back. Luke may be smaller, but he was stronger. And he was at least glad that the scolding at this little showdown was delivered equally. Sophie told him and Luke off, Tadayoshi kept the same with his partners. That was enough to quell his temper.
Colin meanwhile turned to Dokamon. "Hey, it's alright, it doesn't hurt to have things that scare you, just... if it becomes a problem, maybe you should try and get help to solve it, maybe?" he offered as advice awkwardly.
"Huh, Minnesota? Interestin'" Bellamy remarked as Dokamon told him more. While ordinarily while he played the part of a human in school, he made an effort to learn about the world around him at the very least. And he knew that Minnesota was a couple of states away from Colin's home of Nebraska - only much more cold in winter. "Although... I hear in the States that they have a pretty freakin' nasty policy to digimon. How the heck did you get through that to wind up in Japan?" he asked, curiously. Was the V-Pet program so powerful that it could confound airport security?
As to what Dokamon had to say, this immediately made Sophie annoyed. She would halt further tour of the residential floor until this was sorted out. "Guys, I don't know what kind of problem you have with each other, but, as long as you're with AEGIS, you'll have treat all of your fellow agents with camaraderie and respect. This goes for all of you, agents and digimon" she gave a meaningful look at Bellamy and Renamon too, before turning back to Dokamon. "If any of you have any problems with your comrades, I advise you work them out as quickly as possible. If you can't, then you know where the exit of this building is" she finished in a tone that suggested no compromise with that.
After she said that, Bellamy was rendered a little startled, but, Luke gave him a gentle nudge. Supposing he'd best make the first move, the Impmon swallowed his pride and turned to Renamon.
"I don't like what you said and that you snatched somethin' from me without my permission, but, eh, it was elementary school bullshit shenanigans, so, I'm willin' to put it aside and work with you" he said to her, offering a paw for a handshake.
After that, Sophie and Colin overheard Commandramon's words to Tadayoshi. It seemed that he was in a difficult position here. Given that Tadayoshi had taken an extra hour after their agreed time to arrive here, Colin wanted to say something in what he hoped would be helpful intervention, but thought better of it. This was Tadayoshi's personal problem and he'd only help if asked for it.
"If it helps, we can offer transport to the digital world if ever you need extra time" Lantis spoke. "1 hour here being 7 hours there I mean. If you ever need a place of extra time, we can try to do what we can for you".
Other than that, nobody would have anything else to say for that. Hopefully they could all work with each other here.

Dokamon stared right at Colin when he offered help. "I am quite capable of controlling myself, Colin. I appreciate the concern, but I do not need it." That was the nicest way Dokamon could have possibly phrased it, too. Although the gesture of kindness did put a slight smile on his face.
Bellamy brought up a good question about how Dokamon ended up in Japan. Johan wasn't even too sure of it himself. "Well, to be honest I have no idea how it got through. I put my bag on the security scanner and it just... wasn't detected. At all. I have no idea how it was even possible, but I've pretty much accepted that the impossible was possible."
The tension between the agents was getting fairly high, Johan noticed. And Sophie noticed it too, only she was the only one who had the courage to call everyone out on it... in a really scary way, too. It made even Johan tense up a bit from fear with Sophie's strict speech about sorting out any issues with each other that they had. "Sophie's right. We're supposed to be AEGIS agents now, yeah? So we can't keep fighting like this or nothing will get done, or worse... others might get hurt."
Dokamon said nothing to this. He knew that Johan was right, but Renamon was insufferable, and he had a feeling that the rest of Silence felt the same way about him and Johan. Unless they could prove that there were no bad feelings, no cooperation was going to happen at all.

Sophie was right. Tadayoshi knew she was right, too. He could accept responsibility for actions even that weren't his own. He was supposed to be the leader of this group, or at the very least share that title with Commandramon, and so the behavior of his subordinates was his responsibility as well... even if calling Renamon his 'subordinate' was a laughable idea on a good day. "Ma'am," he acknowledged, "Bellamy, Dokamon, please forgive her and forgive me. There are so many of us, and we've been through so much together. I don't doubt your experiences are equally significant even if they're completely different. Diversity breeds conflict, but if we've learned anything together it's that the most important thing is to come together when the chips are down. I personally promise that the diversity of this team, and yours, will prove to be an asset if the time comes." Tadayoshi ended that with a bowed head and one hand clenched into a fist whose inside was placed on top of his heart.
Commandramon seized the cue with no need for any prompting. "I'll only question your courage, Dokamon, in the case we find ourselves the only thing standing between the General's home and an army of forks." Commandramon smiled warmly before mimicking the same salute Tadayoshi gave. "And Bellamy, putting aside small conflicts for the sake of the larger goal is the sign of someone with the moral compass it takes to trust for making good decisions." Without breaking the pose, the dragon inclined his head toward the Impmon next.
"Nah-"
"-we're-"
"-cool-"
"-if-"
"-you-"
"-are!" was the Missimons' less formal and less serious addition, though the spirit was still there.
Renamon took longest to speak. She scrutinized Bellamy as if trying to judge his worth from sight alone. How reluctant she was to serve under a human at all, but now a human under a human? If it turned out Sophie had her own bosses, then the fox might have almost been ready to take the rest of her dignity and walk. Least of all, she was highly unmotivated to serve a cause which neither served her ideological goals nor personal ones. She also knew, however, that she didn't have a choice.
For Renamon, the phrase 'swallowing one's pride' wasn't exactly literal, but she did swallow before she took Bellamy's hand in her paw. As for what she said next, Renamon thought she found a good balance between expressing false regret for her actions and not inflaming the situation further: she kept her mouth shut.
The time comment made Tadayoshi embarrassed, though. He looked down, expressing guilt. "I can go to the digital world with my own portal whenever I please, but thank you. Since you have your own portal spot, I now know I can use that to report here quickly... meaning no more absurd tardiness."

While Colin was a bit disappointed that he couldn't help his fellow agent, he at least noticed Dokamon's smile. It surprised him in a way, it was the first time he had seen him do so.
As to the explanation of how Johan managed to transport Dokamon through the high electronic security of an international airport, they supposed that made sense too. "I suppose there's a clear means of us digimon evading such technology if they don't mean to search for us" Lantis reasoned.
After Sophie had said her piece, she was at least glad to hear that from Johan. 'Hm. Perhaps I should build some camaraderie by assigning them on non-critical missions together?' she thought to herself. Though perhaps... she and Lantis should be present on those too, just in case they begun disagreements. Or at the very least, on audio contact, since she supposed that their physical presence wouldn't solve anything.
However, she was impressed by Tadayoshi's speech. "Yes, I don't doubt that you've been through quite a lot" Sophie said. "It shows in you. You're Colin's age and I've seen you act as decisively as an officer on the battlefield" she turned to Colin. "Not that that's any insult to you, Colin. The strength of you and your digimon is the greatest of all of us here". She then turned to Johan. "I confess that I know very little about you, but, my brother gave me his word you would be a good agent, and I believe him".
Bellamy was a little startled by Commandramon's praise. "Oh, er... thanks for that, pal" he replied, giving a thumbs up. "I only heard stories of what you guys managed to pull off against Karatenmon's gang in Terminus City, but, seems like ya did a great job" he finished with a smile.
The Impmon didn't mind that Renamon didn't say anything, just the gesture was needed. It had just been his temper that ired him earlier, he hoped that they'd be able to work out something more solid in the times to come.
With that, Sophie turned again to Tadayoshi. "Alright. That's good to hear" she said. "With that, I should next ask the three of you to exchange Tamernet details. Tamernet is the most secure means of communication that we have. Our private messages cannot even be decrypted by the government. However, with the system's public messaging system, please be careful what you say about AEGIS on that platform. That we exist and that you are members of it wouldn't be too far, but do not mention your true names or any operational details you may see in here".
Supposing that might be enough for now, Sophie was prepared to break off the tour and let them go about making themselves comfortable.
"So then, any last questions?" she would ask them.

"Maybe that's something AEGIS should be thinking about: digimon arriving by sea or air, not by portal," Tadayoshi suggested both trying to be helpful and look impressive. Maybe he didn't need that, though; Sophie had already gone and complimented him without that addition, which he took with a modest nod of the head.
"We can be discreet," he assured his new superior in answer to her concerns about operational security and secrecy, "I promise."
"Yeah!"
"-super-"
"-secret-"
"-real-"
"-world-"
"coppers!"
"They will not have access to Tamernet. Speaking of which, you can reach us by..." Tadayoshi went on to give everyone in the room his handle as well as the handles of everyone on his team so far. "If we ever expand, I'll make sure they get their own usernames, too, and get the same talking to about secrecy. Don't worry; we wouldn't even work with anyone who can't keep a secret in the first place." Maybe Tadayoshi might have asked if it was OK for Silence to continue operating unofficially as mercenaries in the other world without compromising AEGIS duties... but that ran the risk of getting a no. So he kept silent. So the the rest of the team, who had nothing else to say themselves. "No further questions, ma'am."

"Hmm... yes, that is something to be concerned about" Sophie responded to Tadayoshi's reasoning. "A digimon can appear anywhere on or in the Pacific Ocean and be a threat to Japan. Same as anywhere in the air over it... in fact, I'll ask Satoshi what we can do about that next I see him" Sophie rubbed her chin in thought. "Surely there could be a way we can detect digimon like that?". Although a perfect digimon radar was impossible. Even the current rudimentary surface one only detected Champion levels of higher. And more often than not, new ones appearing was just basic interference.
Regardless, that was a thing to think about later. She was glad at the enthusiasm of Tadayoshi. "Alright. Glad to hear you're on board with all this" she said, smiling.
Tadayoshi would then proceed to give his private Tamernet account details to the rest of the group. "Of course, we should have secure accounts for our organizational work" Sophie agreed. Colin nodded too, and before long, he, Sophie and their digimon partners, as well as Enkidu's details would be exchanged for quick communication.
When Tadayoshi said he had no further questions, and when Johan and Colin said nothing, Sophie assumed that was the end of that. "Alright then. For now this induction is complete. If you'd like to make residency here, please speak with Aina on the office level. Third office on the right from the stairs. She can arrange your requirements and have you set up with your own dorm within a day. If you'd like to return home, you know the way you came in".
With that, she'd look at Colin. "Goodnight, Brother, I'll see you when I get home".
"Ah... right" Colin said, sighing a little at the fact that he was forbidden residence here until he was an adult. Welp, only a bit over 2 years left he supposed.
"Well, glad to meet all you guys with our new organization today" Colin said to Tadayoshi, Johan and their digimon. "Hope we can work together on a mission sometime". Even though he was mostly confined to the work of a nearly 16 year old boy, Colin still thought of himself as an active tamer, and if the others did, they'd surely be working together as well.
"Heh yeah, feels great to be workin' as an AEGIS Agent" Bellamy added, making a cocky stance, daydreaming of scenarios where he'd play the part of a cop, lording over troublemakers. Luke kinda daydreamed the same, only he sought more instances of data-engineering research.
Following that, Colin and the twins would make their way out of the building, inviting any of their agents to do the same if they didn't intend to linger. As they left, Sophie gave an exhalation of breath. AEGIS seemed to now be at its strongest ever. She hoped that they'd be able to keep it this way. As Lantis patted her shoulder gently, she certainly hoped so.

"I'm sure we will." Tadayoshi, too, had visualized future scenarios. He saw Scorpmon on a rooftop taking a single silent shot to incapacitate a problematic digimon on the spot to be promptly arrested and removed from the scene without a single witness. He saw Renamon trailing another trying to ascertain their intentions, and he saw himself receiving praise and accolades for exceeding all expectations. Finally it seemed like he could do something with the hand destiny dealt him.
"Well if that's all, I'll be returning to the second level. 'Aina' had better understand I will not be sharing a living space with you people, especially if that nutcase slips the vetters."
"She's not a..." Tadayoshi had been about to jump to the defense of the new recruit. The problem was he agreed with Renamon. "...I'm sure Aina will understand. Maybe you should all go, too. Dismissed." Only one of those dismissed digimon actually needed the boy's permission to leave, and even then it wasn't because Tadayoshi held him on a tighter leash. It was only because Commandramon believed in showing a superior proper respect, something he and his General had in common. "Actually, Captain, hang on." Commandramon only managed to take one step before pivoting on his heel and facing Tadayoshi directly again.
"Sir."
"Drop any rank difference you perceive and just talk to me for once. Can you do that?" Commandramon nodded. "Are you sure about this? Wouldn't you rather be home? Wasn't that the whole point? Renamon and Hagurumon don't have much choice; they're both under our protection, so they have to go where we go. The Missimon and MetalKoromon sincerely like the idea of it itself. But I don't see what's really in this for you, and I don't want you thinking you don't have a choice or you owe me."
Commandramon blinked, which was apparently all the time he needed to think of an answer. Unfortunately, it wasn't exactly on topic. "I'd rather show proper respect at all times."
"No, it's... 'General' is just the word someone used. It doesn't really mean anything in, like, rank."
"I know." This time Tadayoshi paused and blinked. "I'm not by your side because you told me to be. And I don't treat you like a superior because of any rank." Apparently that was the best answer Tadayoshi was going to get to his question because Commandramon then turned back around and walked toward the stairs, which was even more unusual because it wasn't like him to turn his back on Tadayoshi without being explicitly dismissed. He knew this wasn't rudeness, though. Quite the opposite: Commandramon was just demonstrating that he knew full well he could either treat Tadayoshi like a superior or not. Casting his lot in with the General, then, was maybe the sort of deference Tadayoshi tried to speak against but also a conscious, uncoerced decision.
To Sophie and Lantis Tadayoshi said, "We'll be getting settled in. You won't regret this." That was the note he walked away on. Silence has withdrawn.
