Tylomon didn't know who these guys were, but he immediately did not like them. Here was his group, trying their damn hardest to try and quell the obvious bad guys here, and then these three come along and claim that they just treat Shibuya like their personal playground or something. Definitely not cool.
First chance I get, I am SO gonna show you three up... Tylomon grumbled silently in his own head. I bet you think we're all just monsters who get our kicks from destroying things. Well, you three will soon know how wrong you are.
Still he had to admit, he found it impressive that they found a way to bypass the level limit of the Control Spire without using Armored Digivolution. And not only that, the three of them knew enough to make Sanzomon and Gokuwmon even fear them!
"Adrian, they're stealing our thunder," Tylomon tells his partner through his comm. "Plus even THESE guys want to shut the gate! We have to stop them!"
"After tonight I really do not care about that," Adrian says, still watching the scene from the Helomon. It seemed like Sanzomon and Gokuwmon were surrendering, just from the sheer amount of enemies they had to face. "Just do what they say for now so that this doesn't turn into a goddamn battle royale. We can deal with DATS when the threat is gone, okay?"
"Yeah, you're right. They're more important right now. But I don't like feeling useless! What am I supposed to-" That was when that agent Maria spoke up to the others, instructing them to help attack if they could. "...nevermind, I am useful again! ICE BLAST!"
With the other Digimon, Tylomon fired another blast of below-zero ice from his mouth directly at the control spire, thankful that it was indeed on green mode again. Perhaps with the combined assault, this tower will go down smoothly!
Back on Helomon, Adrian still had these DATS agents on his mind. What did they have in mind? Were these guys going to be a problem? Tadayoshi said that they were infamous for separating partners. For now, when Helomon lands, he would be as friendly as he could be to them. If they tried taking his partner, or do anything to harm another Digimon, there would indeed be hell to pay. Tylomon uses "Ice Blast" on the Control Spire.

Attack after attack slammed into the side of the control spire. Against such an onslaught, it had no chance of staying upright. While the demolition was not controlled enough to make it collapse in place, it at least tipped over and collapsed so that it landed in the middle of the street, without damaging any of the nearby buildings. Just as it happened, the three DATS vehicles with lights and sirens blaring made their way into Scramble Crossing, stopping at the three major entrances. The driver of the third vehicle was skilled enough to avoid the falling spire, which was now just reduced to rubble, scrap metal and scrap electronics. Sanzomon and Gokuwmon said nothing as they watched. They didn't even respond to Levi, but, perhaps, they would remember those words. As it happened, DATS personnel quickly disembarked from the three vans - six men in each, all armed with gear that was similar to that of riot police, armed with large shields and unusual looking weapons. For now they merely assembled in front of their vehicles, awaiting orders. Lastly, a grim looking man disembarked one of the vehicles. He was tall and heavily built, with dark hair and eyes, looking at the battlefield with a tired expression. He made his way over to the DATS agents. "Any casualties?" he asked. "None, Commander" Agent Maria replied, saluting. "AEGIS agents arrived before us, they cleared the crossing of civilians before battle broke out"."Good to hear, least they were useful for something" the DATS Commander said in a tired, weary voice. "Alright, I want the whole crossing blocked off and cleaned up before sunrise. Luckily tomorrow's a public holiday so most people are off work and won't lose hours, but I want all of this cleaned up as soon as possible..."The total damage amounted to the hole in the road and two floors of a nearby skyscraper blasted by Gokuwmon's Storm Beam; a large area of shattered glass from the direction of Assaultmon's first gun salvo, the results of Tylomon's Atomic Blaster, and of course, the hundred foot control spire collapsed on the road. Thankfully no deaths, this could all be explained away by a complicated gas explosion. Yet there were eyewitnesses, however, hopefully no footage. Apparently the control spire disrupted all unshielded digital equipment. Agent "Tiger" looked at Alice as she spoke, but said nothing more for the time being. Still, after taking a few puffs of her cigarette, she made a shrug, as though to concede that point. As for the Flamedramon, she also said nothing, supposing he at least did not contribute to anything other than the demolition of the control spire. The Lillymon-X meanwhile mainly drew mirth from the digimon of DATS. "But we do though" said Sistermon Noir. "We have a higher authority than some punk kids with digivices".By now, Sophie and Lantis had made their way from the roof of the AEGIS HQ building and carefully made their way onto the street once more. Lantis still remaining in his Spadamon form, since Sophie thought that would be the best way to approach them. As Leomon or higher would probably make them feel threatened. As they received Tadayoshi's message through the digivice, Sophie responded right away. "Message received, Tadayoshi, but don't beat yourself up over this. You did finely out there, and I'm proud of you. The fault is mine, I was totally unprepared for this scenario, and I will take full responsibility for it. In the end, your objectives were achieved - you protected the public and helped neutralize the digimon threat. That's all I can ask of you".What she didn't say was her fears. DATS had reactivated without her knowledge. This could only mean one thing - the Japanese Government would no longer be relying on AEGIS to be their bastion from digimon threats. It seemed they were going to take things into their own hands now. With that in mind, she approached. "Excuse me" she said, making the Agents' heads turn. "I'm Sophie James, leader of AEGIS, I... apologize for this mess here"."You're meant to be the leader of AEGIS are you?" Agent Maria asked, coldly. "Where were you on the battlefield? Why were you not taking the lead here?""I was on the roof of a nearby building, in communication with my colleague" Sophie answered. "And I could not participate more directly because I have no means of evolving my partner beyond rookie in this situation.""So you were totally unprepared for this scenario." Agent Machine remarked. "No, I... my brother, he's had more experience with control spires than I have." Sophie admitted. "And where is he?" Agent Tiger asked pointedly. "He's... on a mission in the digital world, I haven't been able to make contact with him.""Very well, whatever the case, AEGIS's response to this crisis was... imperfect, but acceptable" the Commander stated. "Nobody died and you weakened the threats enough so that they had no more will to continue fighting. For this, I will grant an amnesty for all digimon and their partners that fought here tonight".An amnesty? Sophie was confused by the meaning of that. Commander Hashimoto was quick to clear that up though. "However, that amnesty will be limited. Mark my words, digimon have no place on planet Earth. Eventually, they must return to the digital world, so that disasters like this are prevented from happening again".Sophie and Lantis were too stunned to respond to this. Hopefully by now, the others would approach soon. With the control spire destroyed, Helomon would have no impediment to landing in Scramble Crossing. "Furthermore, as part of that amnesty, we will remain for a short time to answer any questions you might have about the revival of DATS" the Commander continued. "Considering your contributions here tonight, you deserve that at least. But we retain the right to withhold classified information. Also we cannot linger long, it's only a matter of time before the blackout is repaired. You must not be visible when it is". The Control Spire is hit by Chameleon Whip, Claw Slash, Solarsault, Thorn Lash and Ice Blast, and is reduced to 0% integrity. It thus collapses.
All effects of the Control Spire except for electronics jamming have been lifted.
Commander Hashimoto and 18 members of the Neo-DATS Riot Squad have arrived on the scene.
Neo-DATS has granted a temporary amnesty to all participants of the thread. They will not be apprehended or prevented from leaving.

Looking up from her notebook, the emerald haired woman sighs as she stops writing notes, her Digimon partner sticking close beside her, and not changing out of her current form. For now, all both do is listen. Alice writes down meticulous, but hasty notes about recent events, flinching slightly at the comparisons being made once again, remaining silent about it, but irritated either way. And with the comment about all Digimon having no place here, she almost bites her tongue to stop herself from speaking out, the words that do escape her mouth being much less venomous than what her emotions want her to say. "There are always exceptions to rules. And no, I'm not AEGIS. This is my first time hearing about them, I'm just a passer by, more or less, a bit of a hobbyist researcher..." A faint chuckle comes from Alice before she returns to her temporary silence, still writing down notes for a good moment. Slipping her ever present notebook back into her bag, she cautiously approaches the spire, mostly to get a better look at things. It's hard to imagine how much cleanup something like this would take, especially given the presence of this massive, heavy obelisk of black, glassy material and foreign electronics. Then again, this is a government backed organization, she thinks to herself. And with this being the only opportunity she has to examine the spire up close, she might as well take it, even if all that remains is fragments and scrap. It takes a moment for her to start paying attention to the rest of the situation, returning to the side of her partner after the Commander states that the group is free to go. "Dorothy, stick close to me. I want to ask him a few things. Respectfully, of course.""...Yeah, yeah..." Just knowing that the Agents respect her less, that some might not even think she is a sentient being, makes her uneasy, the Mienumon uncharacteristically silent, her expression uncomfortable. The only thing keeping her from willingly vanishing into thin air is the presence of Alice, the blue imp Digimon quietly following behind her as she approaches the commander slowly and surely. "Tell me something." She stares the Commander right in the eyes, trying her best to not sound exhausted out of her mind. "Why come out of hiding now? I suppose an organization such as yours could have been temporarily disbanded, but... That would be ridiculous, given the nature of the threats you and the Agents deal with. I do suppose this is some kind of metaphorical breaking point, though. Either way, thank you for letting me and Dorothy go... We'll be on our way." Perhaps he's fortunate that Alice is too tired to go on at him much longer, the tall, strange woman running her hands through her hair anxiously. Once she gets her answer, Alice begins to leave the scene with Dorothy at her side, the two quietly conversing with each other after Alice gets back to where she hid the flying broom. "Alice, uhh... Promise me that ya won't let them... Take me away or anythin' like that. Please." Still too terrified of the thought to talk much, Dorothy states this to her Tamer quietly, prompting the human with the green hair to hug her again.
"I won't, don't worry. I'm sure they're just following orders, and given what happened back there, it's understandable." With the two beginning their long journey back home, Alice makes a cautious, but hopeful smile.
"We'll just have to put our best foot forwards, and prove that you have every right to be here, just as much as I do."
Alice and her partner Dorothy have left the scene.

The dejected General didn’t exactly look up at Yukiko, but he did barely roll his eyes in his skull up high enough to make indirect eye contact with her. It was hard to believe a lot of what she said, but it turned out she was right - or, at least, that someone else agred with her. Sophie through her comm link corroborated Yukiko’s opinion. Additionally, the pair of them reminded the young General that this wasn’t the right time to break down; the job wasn’t complete until exfil. “Everyone take a seat and strap in for safety’s sake while we land. Once we’re down, everyone is free to leave.” Tadayoshi didn’t look like he felt much better as he stood up and took Alice’s old seat, but at least he was functional again. He gave the command tovland.
Just to avoid surprises Helomon announced to the ground forces, “AEGIS digimon Helomon is landing. Everyone stand back!” Thinking it a safe bet that there was space to land, Helomon set their wheels down on the pavement at last.
“Standby, Helomon.” Tadayoshi himself chose to disembark. It was only a thing this point he became very aware that he’s was barefoot, as the rough pavement felt wrong in his soles, and still clad in PJ’s because this first day of January was freezing. Tadayoshi managed to catch up with Sophie, the DATS agents, and some Spadamon he presumed to be Lantis just in time to catch the part about ‘amnesty.’ This, he intended to ask about after proper introductions. “Sir, Ma’am,” was how he acknowledged both his actual superiors before bowing to the commander. There seemed to be an unusual lack of spirit in his address to people above his station, however, in dealing with all three of them. “AEGIS agent Tadayoshi Teppei reporting. I don’t understand: how can you grant us amnesty from anything if we’ve committed no offense?” This wasn’t intentional disrespect but genuine curiosity. More questions in the same category included, “Why were we not notified before your arrival? Was there some miscommunication? What do you intend to do with digimon who can’t safely go back? We’ve dealt with many of them. Are you also saying the digimon who came to Tokyo’s defense would be cast out eventually, too? If you’re here, what does this mean for AEGIS?” That last one was for both the false commander and the real one.
Assaultmon had something to say, too, but it was no question: “If you’re granting us amnesty for perceived crimes, then we will show you the same respect and forgive you your threats. Silence has soldiers who cannot be discovered in the digital world on pain of deletion. For your ‘forgiveness,’ I offer advance warning: should you erroneously attempt to arrest us, we will not comply. We will use maximum justifiable force to defend our rights to peaceful, benign lives.” This, too, was not disrespect. In the captain’s own odd way, it was actually quite respectful: a deterrent from a foolish decision at best and prior preparation for its consequences at worst. Of course, it seemed doubtful DATS would see it that way, but the Silence all had more experience than they’d have liked when it came to defending freedom and home.
If anyone in DATS or AEGIS looked for Tadayoshi to be reasonable and contradict his partners, they would be disappointed. He did not.

"Alright Tylomon, we're coming down now," Adrian comm-ed his partner as the Helomon began to land. As soon as it landed, Adrian immediately got out to join Tylomon to see what the fuss with this DATS group was. What Adrian saw were three very intimidating-looking agents and one grim-looking man who looked as if he was their commander. This could get ugly real fast...
"Adrian, what should we do?" Tylomon whispered to the human.
"We'll just stay put for now, Tylomon. We still have no idea what these guys are like. Be on guard, but don't start any fights." What worried Adrian was that Tadayoshi had explained that AEGIS wasn't given any warning about DATS' revival. They looked really worried about that, and it made Adrian a bit paranoid as well. Why wasn't an agency like AEGIS alerted? This could be bad.
When the two of them continued to listen, they heard the commander state that he was indeed glad that no bystander was hurt in the battle. That happiness was completely destroyed when he brought up giving the group amnesty. Amnsesty? For what?
...that was when lines were drawn. "Digimon have no place on planet Earth..." That absolutely made Adrian stumble back from shock. Were... were they actually serious? Adrian and Tylomon came here to stop the two worlds from being separated, and now it was in danger of happening anyways.
For the moment, no one truly knew how to react. It was such a bold statement! Alice and Dorothy left the scene, with Dorothy actually sounding afraid. Tylomon was afraid, too. "They're... they're not actually going to do it, are they Adrian?"
"I wouldn't rule that out, I'm afraid..." Adrian said, staring at the agents with intense anger. He was not going to have this. Shoutmon and all Digimon were the best thing that ever happened to him, and he was not going to let go of that life so easily.
Assaultmon clearly showed his stance on the issue, and Tylomon took that opportunity to speak up, as if siding with him in a way. "I'm with Assaultmon here. For now I won't even think about hurting you or any human, but if you try to take me away from my best friend by force, then we will resist. Let's go, Adrian."
"Right," Adrian says, nodding before hopping onto Tylomon's back. The fish Digimon would then fly up into the air, making his way back home.
"Out of the frying pan and into the oven, right?" Adrian tried to joke as they flew.
"Uh-huh. At least this time I'm not my own enemy. DATS won't have their way, right?"
"We'll make sure that they don't. We'll protect the world our own way." Exit thread

"Levi!"
Alan took the first chance he could to disembark the helicopter and run up to Levi for an embrace. "Heyyy!" responded the Flamedramon, taking Alan into his arms and accidentally lifting him, before shortly noticing and placing his partner's feet back on the ground. Still wearing his gauntlets, he wasn't able to do much more than hold Alan there, while glaring warily in the direction of DATS's commander. "Was I cool or what?"
"The first one," replied Alan, resting his eyes for a bit. "Hrm. You, too," said Levi, his voice trailing off.
Alan raised his head to look at Levi's face. "Hm? Are you okay?"
Levi proceeded to explain to Alan everything that had just been said. The amnesty. DATS's future plans. All of it. Alan frowned and muttered "Well, that is a problem..." before breaking the hug. "Must be why Assaultmon is giving Commodore 64 over there lip."
"It's despicable." "One hundred percent." "That's why it's probably wise to make use of this so-called amnesty and stick around as long as they do." "Good point. Might as well go over and listen. Take 'em up on their offer."
Once everyone they could see talking to Hashimoto had finished, they walked up for their chance, bowing politely. "It was on honor working with you, sir." "And thank you all for ensuring the quickness of the situation's resolution. Now."
The pair rose from their bows.
"You clearly have your reasons for your extreme views, so we won't be wasting time trying to convince you of anything." "Not tonight, anyway." "So the one thing I wish to ask you, above all else, given what you've said..." Alan pointed to the digimon of DATS. "Who are they to you? Do you plan on deporting them, as well? Once their 'amnesty' has ended?"
After any potential response was given, Levi would turn his attention to the fallen spire. "Before we all leave, do you need any help removing that? It wouldn't be fair if I didn't at least offer to clean up a mess I had something to do with."
Even if it wasn't much...

Mizu was left panting in exertion and anger as the spire crumbled. At last. It was over. But as she turned around, she heard what Sistermon Noir said. "Punk kids with digivices"? The Lilymon X began to inhale sharply, shaking in anger...and then just...fell silent. Eerily silent. Her anger had reached breaking point. Without a further word, she began to fly off, but not before shooting the Sistermon a look of cold, burning fury and hatred. Mizu would definitely keep tabs on DATS from now on. She would not let them get away with this arrogance.
Yuki stayed by Tadayoshi's side until she was told to strap in for the landing. Once they did land she called a "Take care, sir!" towards him before hopping off the Helomon. It was over now, wasn't it? Thank goodness! The city was safe! Now she could go home and- Mizu landed next to her. She said nothing. "Oh, Mizu! Welcome back! You did awesome!" The Lilymon X looked down, not talking. Yuki became concerned. "M-m-m-mizu?" Mizu looked up. Tears of rage ran down her large eyes. She grabbed Yuki by the wrist, strong enough to hurt, and began to drag her away from DATS. Yukiko was concerned. Wh-wh-what happened to Mizu? This was unusual for her! It was hard for to keep up with her partner's stride as she made her way away from the group. After a while she de-digivolved, but immediate donned her Holosuit, not loosening her grip. Whatever happened, Yuki would need to watch out for her partner.

Commander Hashimoto first turned his eyes to Alice as she asked her questions. "The reason? We weren't meant to be reactivated for another month, but this emergency has forced us to take action early. We made do with what we got, and while I believe we could have handled the situation ourselves... your early arrival hasn't caused additional problems".
He glanced over at Gokuwmon and Sanzomon, scowling. "I understand you all want to keep your digimon partners, but... the fact of the matter is, they don't belong here. Not in this world. Let them stay in theirs while we look after ours. The government of Japan cannot accept them as part of our society".
They watched as Helomon came in for a landing. Agent Machine was intrigued, raising his custom digivice to look up information on him. Revivemon merely watched.
As the passengers disembarked the machine digimon, the group was approached. Sophie and Lantis acknowledged Tadayoshi before the DATS personnel turned to pay attention to him.
"Hm, I'm pretty sure that firing off gatling guns and blasters in the middle of Tokyo counts as an offense somewhere..." Agent Tiger remarked. "But, circumstances called for it I guess. You should be thankful nobody died here, otherwise things would have not turned out well for your digimon."
"Like I said to the young lady here, we were forced to reactivate a month before we were set to resume full operations" Commander Hashimoto added. "And we did send a message to AEGIS the moment we deployed fifteen minutes ago".
"We couldn't receive it, all power got cut" Sophie replied.
"Hm, that explains it" the Commander scowled again. "As for your other queries, we will investigate each case of digimon unable to return and do what we can depending on each circumstance. Voluntarily leaving would be their best option, but, the goal of our organization is to eventually send them all back to their world, then close any means of them returning".
He looked around at the other digimon in the square. Lantis, the fusions of Silence, Dorothy, Tylomon, Levi, Royland and Mizu. "Eventually? Yes. However if it's your wish to go to the digital world to live with your partners, that will not be a problem with us. However, in recognition of your service here tonight, we will not do so any time soon".
"And... what does that mean for AEGIS?" Sophie asked, repeating Tadayoshi's question, rather stressed at hearing of this. Lantis reached up and patted her back gently.
"For the time being? You may continue to operate as you have - removing wild digimon threats to Tokyo, but under no circumstance will you interfere with DATS operations" the Commander stated. "As long as we're clear on that, feel free to continue your pest control operations."
That hurt Sophie's pride a little there. She scowled back, but knew better than to say anything.
The DATS agents and digimon met Assaultmon and Tylomon's remarks with a stern silence before it was eventually Agent Maria that responded. "Don't do anything illegal and you won't get arrested, simple as that" she said. "But, fair warning, if you act to oppose us, we'll bring the full weight of the Japanese government down on you".
Sophie realized acutely there were still 18 heavily armed men surrounding the square. However, as Alice, Dorothy, Yukiko, Mizu, Adrian and Tylomon approached, they would let them pass on their way home without a word.
Then Alan posed the question to them directly, what of their partners? It was Wingdramon that answered immediately.
"We will continue our presence here as agents of the government" he said. The human agents meanwhile had curious reactions to this. Tiger looked defiant as though daring those words to be challenged. Machine's face remained oddly blank, and Maria turned around, putting her sunglasses back on.
"Yes..." Commander Hashimoto simply said. With that he turned to Levi. "No need for that, the local government and military forces will handle the cleanup from here".
By now, the street lights around Scramble Crossing began to switch back on, one by one. "Very well, we'll take our leave" the Commander stated, then turned to Sanzomon and Gokuwmon. "Are you able to de-digivolve to your rookie forms?"
"...we are" Sanzomon sounded sullen and miserable.
"Please do so." They complied. In a flash of light, the two digimon shrunk down to the form of Koemon and Plotmon. The Sistermons would then guide them toward the nearest van, as the riot squad began to re-embark their vehicles as well.
"Very well, we must return to our headquarters" Commander Hashimoto stated. "Until we meet again, AEGIS and affiliates. DATS Agents, move out!"
Before long, Scramble Crossing was empty. Only Sophie, Tadayoshi, Alan and their partners remained.
"...we should go too" Sophie said, looking shellshocked and paler than she normally was. "We'll debrief tomorrow I guess... for now, we should go home".
Tadayoshi and Alan were welcome to follow to AEGIS HQ nearby. Regardless, that would be that for tonight.

Pleased by the Wingdramon's response, especially by the fact that it was Wingdramon who responded, Alan smirked and produced a single "Hmph!" of soft laughter. There was hope here. He could work with this. Not to mention, DATS would allow him to live in the digital world with Levi, worst case scenario. That didn't mean he'd let them have their way, but it was a bonus. They weren't against everything he stood for.
Levi was similarly satisfied with the response he received to his question. It was the answer he had expected, but a good one, nonetheless. "Alrighty then," he said, "You folks have a good night. Hope the rest of the cleanup goes well!" Following his farewells, he turned to his partner and asked if he should put his holo-suit back on.
"Yes. Do that. Wait, no, don't. I'd actually prefer you take the backpack until we're behind closed doors, if you don't mind." The human leaned close. "Wouldn't want to show the holo-suit to them just yet."
"Weren't they monitoring us the whole time? And wouldn't they find me anyway?"
"Jeez, Levi, at least let me feel smart. Here's your hat back."
Levi emitted a warm light as he shrank back to his Veemon form. He took the grey ivy cap from Alan and adjusted it on his head.
"Alright, I'll open the zipper for y-" the tamer caught a glimpse of Sophie out of the corner of his eye. "Oh, hold on a minute. The Commander isn't the only one I wanted to talk to- I almost forgot. Hey!" Alan approached Sophie and Lantis, with Levi jogging close behind. "Jeez, are you alright, miss? Those DATS guys sure seemed to be looking for things to be angry about, huh! I..." He briefly flipped open his D-Terminal to view the most recent message. "...assume you're 'Sophie James?' I'm Alan, and this is my partner, Levi. We spend most of our time in the digital world, so we're a bit behind on this stuff. Tonight's the um... first we've heard of AEGIS, or DATS, or any of this. So... if you're not too tired... we'd like some more detailed information on the matter."
He would be offered a chance to follow them to AEGIS HQ. It was exactly what he wanted, but it would be with some nervousness that he would accept regardless.
Exeunt Alan and Levi.

Tadayoshi couldn't entirely resist taking Tiger's bait. "Yes. It is good nobody died, isn't it?" Who was this guy even supposed to be, threatening Silence for a scenario that didn't even happen? Of all these agents, Tadayoshi liked him the least. As much as the General might have liked to forget these people ever existed after tonight, they made themselves quite clear: they were coming for his friends eventually.
These people were hostiles.
Should he order to open fire on them right now?
No. We're too few, and they're exhausted, not to mention that's federal government. It's tactically disadvantageous for them to let us leave here peacefully, but we'll just have to exploit that mistake another time. Tadayoshi yawned. I'm exhausted, too. The young man grit his teeth. All of this was wrong. This was no victory, of which he was convinced no matter any kind words from Yukiko or even Sophie. Silence and team won the battle and maybe even a war, too, but a new one started the same day. The General was no fool; he knew full well not every digimon was going to survive either getting forced home or maybe even the deportation process itself. Tadayoshi would only reluctantly admit, too, that his reasons were personal as well as altruistic; only since he got a Xros Loader did he really have a life or matter in any way. He did not have to think long or hard to pick a side, and since it wasn't DATS' this was just the start of a new war.
But no war was ever won by a sleepy army. Tadayoshi gave a nonverbal command to his whole army by holding up a high fist, which he opened into an open hand. Both of his digimon understood, causing two digimon to become seventeen: Commandramon, Renamon, Hagurumon, six Missimon, and eight MetalKoromon. All of them assembled in neat lines in front of the General, all of them looking very worn out and frustrated. "All to bed! We can't talk about this now. Lights out by 0200, but, um... feel free to sleep in. We'll worry about briefing Angel and Victor Wing tomorrow. Alpha through Hotel, Missimon, dismissed!" The MetalKoromon were unreadable in emotion on their way inside, but the Missimon all looked uncharacteristically lethargic and dejected. That still left three digimon. "I'll say this to you three: I agree with Commandramon. There are no circumstances under which you will be forced to return to the digital world." Why did he save that for those three? Because they were the three besides Angel who faced deletion, even downloading if they went back. "But Renamon? I know what you're thinking. Hagurumon, maybe you're thinking it, too. And I don't like it, but I can't stop you."
Hagurumon looked guilty, giving theirself away. They were thinking it, though it was Renamon who put it into words. "I don't care about your human problems. I certainly won't give your kind the satisfaction of arresting me." Neither Commandramon nor Hagurumon spoke out of turn to refute her, Commandramon because he just refused to speak without being asked to and Hagurumon because they didn't entirely disagree.
"Just... leave a note or something. Don't make us wonder if something happened to you." Renamon neither refused the request nor promised to honor it. She was stone silent. "You're all dismissed."
That all probably didn't look like the friendship of a human-digimon bond to Alan or Sophie, at least not the kind they were used to. But Tadayoshi and his team weren't all held together by the conventional idea of friendship; Commandramon and Tadayoshi were stuck by fate, and the rest were all present not because of friendship but by mutual need and, even more importantly, a strange sort of mutual respect. Of course, there was at least a little friendship involved, which might have been demonstrated by the fact that Commandramon continued accompanying his human rather than going to bed.
"Alan, yes? And Levi?" The young man spoke to the others without that air of superiority he had before and, oddly, with near-perfect pronunciation of the L's. He had his new teacher Lise Hamelin, who insisted on such good diction for that second thing. "If you want more information, please come inside. I don't know how much more we know than you, but we can try." It was only at this point that he noticed, "You're still here?"
"Should I leave?"
"You don't have to. I'm just surprised. Maybe we should get off the street for the coming cleanup crew, though." Tadayoshi and company were all trained for cleanup themselves, but they were being told to step aside. What an insult. So as Tadayoshi walked into HQ, his thoughts were racing. He knew better than to latch onto one, but he did know neither he nor Sophie nor probably AEGIS as a whole could just leave this alone. They needed some kind of response.
Father will wonder where I am. I can't ask the team just for a ride home, though. I'll just have to buck up.
Silence has exfiltrated.
