A Grand Old Tale [Cassandra/Carlos/Titania]

Argent seemed…rather worked up about the whole thing. It was hard to blame her however, Calumon’s tale was rather good at raising more questions than what it was answered. And indeed, Carlos had to agree with the agitated mon on this, things just didn’t seem to add up. But instead of questioning that further, the man held on to one particular part of the story, the possible whereabouts of at least one of the original Tamers.
Through this, an idea presented itself on the back of the man's mind. It was a long shot, especially if he took into consideration Argent's points about the Tamers simply leaving their partners to sort everything out. But what if…
"Calumon, do you think you'd be able to recognize any one of those tamers if you saw them again?" He asked, hoping they weren't overwhelming the digimon too much. There were a lot of problems with the man's idea, and Carlos was well aware of them. Aging was still a thing, so they would probably look very different than how they did back then, if they were still alive. And even if they were still somewhere in Tokyo, tracking them down would prove to be impossible without a lead.
But what if for some twist of fate they could locate them? Maybe they could be the key missing to this whole puzzle. And if not well...then he had really no idea where to start to make sense of this insanity.

They didn't get it.
All of them, either directly or under the table, had suggested the same thing: 'Why would they leave their precious partners to suffer without fixing it themselves'? If the D-Reaper had been created by a human and unintentionally run amok, why wouldn't that person try and fix their mistake? Why would they instead abandon beloved friends and partners to deal with the damage they've caused?
"Um... that's... um..." Calumon suddenly seemed more and more worried. What did it mean that they didn't? For several seconds, he struggled with the answer.
Mikemon, however, broke through with his own answer: "Is it really so surprising?"
His tone was cynical, spoken as if it was pure certainty. "I have no doubt that, if such a person exists, that they had all the good intentions of the world going into it - and probably told himself that he would let his partners and friends know if something went wrong. It's the 'right thing to do' - but when that moment of failure comes, when it becomes too big a problem to fix?"
Dr. Mikemon gave a sigh. "They vanish. Rather than confront the problem, one instead denies their own failures, denies reality, denies the past, and instead attempts to move on."
It made sense to him: having spent so long in the Dark Area, he'd seen the absolute worst of the 'human condition'.
It was a sad thing to think of - so much so that the Calumon latched onto any other question. What did that one-eyed monster do? "Um... its this big tall thing that surrounds their white-marble-like core? Honestly, it doesn't seem to do much by itself - but these red monsters kept climbing out of it whenever anyone tried to get close..."
So it was an 'Agent Generator'? Curious. As for Carlos' question, the Calumon tilted his head. "I guess? I mean, it was so long ago that I don't remember too much about them. Back then, they were probably around Carlos' age. One had goggles, and there were two guys and two girls... and, um..."
He shook his head! "When I try and think about them I only remember bits and pieces! Um..."
"... Maybe that's a bit much to ask." The cat sighed, shaking his head. "We need to narrow it down. If it was a program that affected a large percentage of the Digital World, it would have needed a lot of power. It would've had to have some effect in Japan. Maybe..."
He tapped his claw against the table. "To get an idea of 'when', well, we can look into the history of unexplained blackouts in Japan?"

It was a small mercy she was wearing gloves. Even with them the Doctor could feel the pinprick of her claws digging into her skin where she clenched her fists hard enough the wet slickness of blood stained the leather. "They would have needed the most cutting edge computers for the time to have pulled this off. I have a friend who can look into the blackouts and then we can narrow down our search radius based off of power draw. If you all can see if Calumon can remember the Tamer's names or the details of whichever one had the most technical skill I'd like to step outside for a moment and make a call to my contact." The Sorcerimon spoke their tone even, almost pleasant were it not for the lingering hollowness to their voice as they rose in one smooth motion from their seat. Leaving their things as they quietly stepped outside the door.
Only once the latch had clicked behind them did they let the furious trembling that wracked their frame show. Fury cold and sharp as a blade slicing into their heart and filling their veins with molten metal. Words failed for the hatred that cloyed the Doctor's throat like bile choking the breath from her body in her rage as the world around her came into clear and cutting focus. She was going to kill whoever did this. Not now of course. Not yet. They needed them alive to defeat the D-reaper, but Cassandra knew achingly well that there were things in life far worse then death. When she killed them they would beg for it and view it as a mercy. She was going to make them scream as she had screamed until their throat was so raw they'd never know anything, but the roughness of their own broken voice and the taste of blood in their mouth.
The Sovereigns weren't gods, but the mortal creation of the folly of man and she had seen first hand that they could bend and break as easily as the rest of them. She'd answered a thousand more prayers on the lips of the dead, the dying, the desperate as a mere doctor then some false idols wrought of data and stone. Their creator was no higher being. No unkillable diety.
They were only human and Cas would make them ♌̶̧͕̩̗̺͖͙̥̐̋̐͗̐̓̒͒͂͛̈́︎̸̗̜̯̮̭͖͙͒͆ͅ●̷̡̢̛̛͔̹̖̤̼̻̰̼̲̺̟̥͗̅̌̈̽͋̆̿͌́̾̀̕͜͜͝ͅ︎̷̡͚̥̘̘̰͍̘̟̹̮͛͛̌́̋̋͌͐̒͑̊͜͜♏̸̡̡͎̩͙͕̖͚̱̮̬̼͈̪̈́︎̵̨̡͓̖̝̆̑̐̿͋͝ͅͅ♏̷͙̻̈͆͑̅̉͋́̓͐͝︎̷̧̗̯̜̩̙̞̞̓̽̄͒͂̔̋͛̀̈́̚♎̸̨̠͓͙̙̒̿̌͘︎̶͎̘̲̪̦̮͛̌̆̆̆̈́̉́̓͝.
"General I'm routing you the audio file from my meeting. Please contact Emma and have her research mass blackouts in Japan during the early age of the internet and any information lurking in the deep web from that time regarding the Digital world." 'Argent' requested linking the still running file to her message with a few clicks of a button.

Hot damn, this was even more tragic than several subjects that popped up in Titania's head in but an instant, but disappeared just as fast. The fairy noted Calumon's initial worry before she looked to Mikemon. "That kind of person most definitely exists. I haven't seen them anywhere, but I feel like they're somewhere. Either way, that's most unfortunate."
Anyways, onto the monster... "So kind of like a little hive they crawl out of. On legs. I can't offer any insight as to what's up in Japan. But...I'm sure someone here can." She waved bye to Argent while she stepped out. And then the fairy just put her chin upon her hand. "Hmmm..."

Carlos was somewhat taken aback by the Doctor's sudden and rather pessimistic comment, that amount of cynicism was somewhat unexpected from the cat, but he guessed it wasn't all that odd coming from a former Demon Lord.
"You sound like you're speaking from experience." Dio commented, glancing briefly in the Mikemon's direction, before sighing. "Can't say I disagree, however." They both came from the same dark, unforgiving place, it was only natural they would share such opinions.
"Though if such a person does exists, I would certainly like to have a long talk with them..."
Not long after that Argent left the room as suddenly as she had came in, leaving the other four alone with Calumon so they could hopefully get something more substantial out of this.
Carlos simply shook his head, and followed Calumon's example in trying to talk about anything else regarding the D-Reaper's creation and anything inbolbing it. It seemed as his attempts at getting the small digimon to remember the other humans were being unsuccesful, despite it being one of their only leads. Didn't kept him from asking some more, despite the Doctor's commenting that it was probably too much to ask. "Alright, two guys, two girls, probably 20 something years old. It's not much but it's something. Anything else you recall strongly about them?
Or could it be that they had finally hit a dead end?

As Argent excused herself from the room, it seemed that the pace of this meeting was growing to a crawl. Calumon looked on as Mikemon rested his chin on the back of his gloves, Naoko and Titania slipped into thought, and Carlos gave one more question:
What did he remember about the tamers at all?
"It's been a while... I wonder if I'd even be able to help if I could remember them perfectly." He had been recalling events from an 'ancient age of the Digital World', so it was probable that each of the tamers was now thirty-something years older! "Mm... one of the girls had red hair, and the others just had 'normal' dark hair? Let's see..."
He thought hard for several moments, both trying to remember how they looked as well as the best way to describe them. "Baihumon's tamer was a strong-looking one himself. He played... I think its called 'Rugby' or something? The most notable thing about him was that he was tall! I think he'd have an inch or two on Carlos, even. And, um... Azlumongmon's tamer, another guy, wore the goggles... Zhuqiamon's tamer liked to sketch stuff, and Ebonwumon's tamer... hm... as well as her having red hair, I don't think I remember liking her that much. Definitely wasn't happy to be 'stuck out in our world' or something..."
"... Tch." Of course, after all this time, it was personality that stuck out far more than appearance! "On that end, I think the best we'll be able to do is cross our fingers and hope we can dig something up. Still," the cat leaned back, "Calumon, thanks for your help with this. An answer or not on this last thing, it's been interesting to hear just how this all started!"
"Eheh..." The Calumon scratched the back of his head. "Yeah, sorry, I'm not the best with faces - especially human ones..." Outside, as Argent made her request, the 'General' confirmed his answer: "Alright. She'll be able to get what you're after in a few hours - and we'll review the file on this end."
It was a short response, the audio file successfully transferring moments later. As Argent returned, she'd likely find the meeting already winding down!
