Plot Description:
Advertising for people to participate in a new tournament calledThe Tournament of Liars
The purpose of the game is to survive until the end of the game in order to win a fabulous prize!
There will be up to seven rounds to this tournament and eight participants. In the first four rounds, you will be split into teams of two to fight one of my beautiful monsters in a bloody match for a set period of time. You will need to survive until the time limit is reached to 'win' the match. The final three matches will be competitive, with players fighting in pairs against each other until a showdown between the last two standing.
Sounding straight forward? Good, but that's not the end. I was thinking...it's all reaaallly boring, just running a tournament and watching people beat each other up, so I thought I'd add an extra fun element to it all. My own personal touch to make it all sooo much more exciting.
So basically, this game revolves around trust. And honesty. And how much you can put into your fellow players.
Everyone has to start from zero trust, which is why in this game you will be anonymous. Completely and utterly anonymous. In fact, when you start, each of you will be given the following items to allow for anonymity:
1. A temporary account to use for the purposes of the mission. It will be named after one of the major arcana cards and will be your pseudonym for the purposes of the game. This means that no one can run background checks on you outside of the game and work out how trustworthy you are. Booooooooo! (N.b. I have previously spoken to Random, Anu and Sove about this element with no objections raised, so have permission)
2. A holosuit to disguise your ugly selves with a new crazy new design. Initially, your holosuit will be preset to match your arcana, but you may choose anything you want to act as your appearance during the games. It can be anything you want as long as it walks/hops/runs/slivers/moves and is capable of talking in its source material.
3. One mercenary digimon capable of digivolving from Rookie to Ultimate. While you may use your actual digimon, this might compromise your identity so we will lend you one of 8 digimon to use in the tournament. Even if you're actually a digimon, you'll be given one. It is up to you to design and customise their attack sets per your strategies and we'll be pretty leniant about the types of moves allowed. Our only rule is that you are not allowed to use healing moves on yourselves! [[N.b] See rule summary in second post for specific details]
You may share your true identity if you wish, but I'm not sure you want to drop your identity so quickly. No one smart reveals their full hand and in this game, your hand could make or break your match.
Speaking of stuff, you will also be given the following equipment to help you with the game:
4. A loan of 12,000 bits. These may be used to equip yourself with anything from any stores on DFRP. This equipment may only be used within the mission and will be reclaimed at the end.
5. A pager which will allow you to do the following:So why all the fuss about anonymity?
- Contact other players
- Use Enables/Disables (see below)
- Spend bits at the start or during the mission
- Initiate trades, barters and bribes
- Record a will/testement (outlining what happens to your stuff if and when you are terminated). You must name someone in the game to enact your will should this happen and only they will know its contents.
- Vote in the Liar Game (See below)
See, in this game, there's a second part to the tournament. The Liar Game. You all get to have a little vote to see how much you trust each other.
At the end of every round, you will be asked to vote whether you will ally with or betray the person you've been fighting with for that round. There are really only three possible outcomes to voting and the rewards for each are as follows:
Outcome 1 – Both ally If you both ally, you each get 'Enables' and 3000 bits each. These are special items with positive effects that you can use either on yourself or your allies to help you survive each round. For example, one might heal you or another might give you an additional attack to use. Each enable has limitations on use depending on its strength and all enables are completely tradeable. Enables do not have to be used on a person in the same thread as you.
Outcome 2 – One allies, One Betrays If one person allies and the other betray, the betrayer will get two enables and 6000 bits and the betrayed will get a disable and lose 6000 bits. Unlike an enable, a disable is an item that will give negative effects if used. For example, one might make an attack unusable or cause paralysis in an opponent. They are also completely tradeable and have their own limitations. Disables do not have to be used on a person in the same thread as you.
Outcome 3 – Both Betray If both betray, both get a disable to make them feel better for the bitter sadness of friendship lost. You both lose 3000 bits
Oh, but I guess if you win no matter what, there's no risk, huh? All you lose is money.
Wrong.
Because if you lose all your money, you're out. You've only got 12,000 bits. That means in four rounds, you will be kicked out unless you come up with some way to convince your partner to ally. I guessss you could just ally all the way through, but then you've got seven people to beat and they've all got nifty enables which could take you out. So there's the cruncher, teheeheee.Who do you trust as your ally?
Will you bribe and cheat to get to the end?
Who will survive?
