"So that entire district up there just popped up out of the blue...."
Well, there was no doubt that at least part of the group had a hand in it - especially if Cassandra was so intimate with the base! "Still, I didn't think I'd have an opportunity like this so soon. Of those that fled to this city, I'd imagine that a few wouldn't be in the best of sorts - mentally, at least."
"Hm." Angel gave a sigh. "'Guru' here fancies himself as a 'mind-seer'. Apparently his old occupation, or service, or what-have-you, was helping others center themselves spiritually and emotionally."
"That's the short of it, anyway." Guru returned a nod. "If you would let me, I'm certain a fair number of those in Tenebrous could use that sort of help."
"... We did say something about building up Metal Drive's reputation. Then again, stapling our name to a holy Digimon's work seems a little off-putting."

"We have nothing against holy digimon only those that would harm others for reasons not within their control." Cassandra murmured eyeing Guru speculatively as she considered his offer. Of late most of what the world had seen of them was the use of virus or data types in mercenary roles. Given they couldn't publicly release that they were behind the Red cards without fearing it would hurt the cards use they would need to build up their reputation through other acts if they were to ever claim their work.
"I think while 'odd' at first it will show that we have no qualms about a digimon's type and a community that views us as useful and valued members are more likely to give us the benefit of the doubt and back us in regards to dealing with other cities." The Doctor pointed out turning the idea over in her head.
"More importantly Guru is right. We have the largest refugee population of any city on the mainland currently since Tenebrous is one of the few that will take displaced Dark Area residents. A lot of those digimon have had a difficult time of it." Cas spoke before glancing between the General and the holy fox.
"If Denryu and yourself are inclined I can make introductions for you with Wolf the city's current Mayor and see about getting a practice for you setup near mine." She suggested before pausing with a wince. "Actually you should probably take a look at Breach as I really don't think being hooked up to a Dark artifact and kept in near total isolation for gods only know how long did that poor Digimon any favors. He's not a bad sort, but I feel like he plays to the 'devil' persona more then he should since it's all he knows."

"I've nothing against holy types. I more meant that its a bit conceited to be staking a claim to such a task." That was about the best way Denryu could word it, anyway - but Cassandra did have a point. What better way to connect to the community than to actually give back to it?
"Hm... for that to work, it would have to be more than just Guru helping out. Maybe not with the others, but some sort of community service..." Oh, he could already feel the hair starting to rise on Angel's back. The General didn't press that point further, as Guru returned a nod to Cassandra.
"That's all I can ask. I will remain available as needed, of course." Such an offer was honestly the best he could hope for - and at the mention of a supposed patient, an ear twitched behind that mask. Breach? "So long as he wouldn't mind it."
"Considering the situation, Breach honestly seems fairly well adjusted. I wouldn't be surprised if he laughed such an offer off..."
"The same invitation extends to all of you, of course." He sat, giving a nod towards the doctor. "From what I've heard so far from Angel, you've all had the rough of it."

"Community service wouldn't be a terrible idea, but that's a matter to decide at a later date." Cas agreed her lips twitching with the beginnings of a smile a the mention of the Apocalymon. In truth after everything he really was very well adjusted though getting him switched over to non-sentient food had been a bit of a trial he did make an excellent reading companion.
"Given the circumstances I expected a half-feral nearly raving lunatic and admittedly was incredibly pleased to only get a slightly unhinged snark devils advocate in all regards." The Doctor joked as she rose to refill her tea mug politely ignoring Guru's own mention of the rough time they'd had of it. The D-reaper having made it impossible at this point to Cas to easily hide her own scars.
"We'll certainly keep that in mind Guru. Thank you." She added polite enough to acknowledge the olive branch for what it was even if she was unsure if she'd ever partake of it.

"Honestly, it would be interesting to see just what Breach's head is like." Denryu briefly mused, as Guru returned a nod to Cassandra.
"Alright, come along. I'll show you our quarters, next..." Angel would exit, with the Reppamon following just behind her - the eye on the edge of that bladed tail briefly flicking in Cassandra's direction. Huh.
"Considering the state I found him in, I'm surprised to see that he's already thinking of how to get back to his work." Taking a sip of his coffee, Denryu gave a small sigh. "Three down, three left. Falcon's somewhere out in the desert, and Raider and Blade are in Terminus. Angel's not going to like it, but it looks like Blade's one of the last that we're going to be able to get to."
He mulled his options over, on that front. "Oh, I suppose I should thank you for picking up Demon and Volt. I think that all got swept over on the excitement for that lily plant..."

Cas met that brief gaze, but spared it only a moments notice. The mystery of their newcomer would be unraveled another time. For now... "Well you should thank me, but you don't have to," Cassandra teased feeling almost playful and knowing two of their party members were so close at hand in Terminus even if they would be difficult to find among the hustle and bustle of the city it was a great boost to moral.
"Besides I'm rather fond of Demon and Volt," She spoke with a smile though in truth she was fond of most of his team. "Then again I'm rather fond of you as well." Cas added with a light shrug seeing little point in hiding her regard for him though she had no little intention of allowing it to effect her work. So she decided to say as much.
"But I'll understand if you wish to keep things business only. My feelings shan't effect my work, but I've been..." She trailed off with another shrug. "I'd rather not get my hopes up."

... Well now.
Denryu saw that shrug, but the words behind them had weight. For a moment, Cas might have even seen Denryu's eyes widen a bit, listening to the rest of her words with care. She had feelings for him, but was willing to keep this strictly business?
It took the man a moment to respond.
"Honestly, I can't help but be fond of you." The Xros General spoke, his tone level. "Even when we were about to lose confidence, you kept us all on the right path. Honestly, I'd be willing to try." The tone was as casual as ever, perhaps just a touch of warmth to those words.
"For now," he sighed, "I've the rest of my team to worry about. The longer that's outstanding, the worse our odds."

"Good, that's~" Cas stammered slightly, "That's good." She added even as she suddenly realized she had no idea how to or where to go from here. Her first tentative attempts at reaching out to someone prior having admittedly backlashed spectacularly leaving the biometal of her fingers twitching just at the thought. She'd had hoped to find a kindred spirit, but in her search had been used and strung along by her own naive hope that someone could care for her beyond her illness. That someone could find it in themselves to be fond of her as she was of them. Now that she had though...
"I'm fond of you too," She fumbled only to wince at her repetition though no amount of awkwardness stopped the warmth that suffused her chest at his response nor the spots of color that had found their way onto her pale cheeks, "Christ I've already said that." She muttered as much to herself as him as she cupped her face in her hands leaving her next words somewhat muffled.
"Right. I am in no rush. The team is more important I just...wanted to...I don't really like guessing. Well not on these sorts of things." She added in a rush through her fingers as she wondered briefly what had become of her once suave self that had flirted with Yakuza, Assassins, hell even murderous digimon with careless abandon. She supposed though that she already knew the answer. All those times it hadn't mattered. This time it did.

... Dear lord, these two weren't any good at this small talk, were they? Cassandra didn't do much to set the tone, her nervousness and awkwardness bleeding out into the room. Left like this, the two might have been left at a stalemate for the rest of the evening.
He gave a sigh. "Alright, how about this." Denryu's tone was a bit 'formal', but he simply spoke. "My name is Oliver Havlock. Before I came to the Digital World, I was a tightrope performer for a traveling circus. I would've had a math degree if that didn't come up - but, honestly at the time, it was all that really felt 'right' to me."
Denryu leaned back in his chair, mulling his thoughts over. "Honestly, the Digital World's the best thing that ever happened to me. Its always just been me and my half sister, but here we actually had a purpose. This team's the best 'family' I've ever had."

Cas could do this. Though in truth she wasn't much for talking about her past. Prior no one particularly wanted to know and Cloak and Dagger lacked most of the human world context to understand much of it. Slowly the Doctor drew her hands away from her face and pausing shrugged off her lab coat. Setting it aside on the stool behind her as she mentally peeled off more layers of herself with that one casual movement then she was comfortable with admitting.
"My full name is Cassandra Helena Cross. I was raised mostly in foster care when I lost my Mother around the age of six and bounced from home to home till I almost killed a boy in self-defense at the age of ten. I was stuck on a ranch with my long term Foster Dad who figured if I was strong enough to fight I was strong enough to work and that girls were a lot less trouble then boys. He's who got me interested in medicine." Cassandra explained her brow furrowing as she tried to think over any other pertinent information about herself without laying out her whole life story.
"Prior to the digital world I was a Vet and a Paramedic out of necessity, but intended to get my doctorate in genetics. I might still get it if and when I complete my paper and send it in. I didn't really want much to do with the digital world or my partners at first. I looked after them cause someone needed to and came to love them from there." Cas elaborated as she paused considering hard whether like Denryu if she could really call her experience in the digital world and it's effect on her good.
"There are some things that if I could change about my time in the digital world I would, but I don't regret learning of it nor bonding with my partners." She added before offering Denryu a hand as if in greeting.
"It's nice to meet you Oliver Havelock." Cas murmurs rolling his name over her tongue as she tries it out for sound unsure yet if it fits the man before her or not.

"Alright, so neither of us really had the high-roll in our youthful upbringing." Sheesh, Denryu thought he had it bad. The General didn't press for more details of Cassandra's youth, partially because it seemed like a sensitive note, but more-so because it seemed like both of them were just content glossing over it.
Her background, of course, explained her expansive medical knowledge. "Arguably, being an 'animal doctor' might have more value on this end being a 'human' doctor. Heck, if we bring on a mechanic, we'll have all of our bases covered." Slowly, Denryu's tone seemed to be loosening up, honestly finding that this struck somewhat of a chord with him. Given time, he could see this eventually working out.
Of course, Denryu didn't press what details that she would have changed - though, that was more 'self-evident' than anything else. With a nod, he returned that handshake. "The same, Dr. Cross. Though at this point, I think I prefer Denryu." That comment was accented with a slight shrug, the man taking a short sip of his coffee.
"How have Cloak and Dagger taken the transition to this base?" Dagger, in particular, didn't seem like the type to stay secluded in the darkest corners of the world...

"To be fair my childhood wasn't all candies and roses, but it sounds far worse the it realistically was." She spoke her tone soft with good humor at her own expense in an attempt to ease any tension that remained. A conspiratorial smile flitting over her lips that she shared with him with a look that just sang of mischief.
"Funny you should mention that~" Cas murmured, "Do you remember that man we dragged in mostly dead from the Desert incident? His name's Kan and he happens to be an excellent mechanic." She explained letting the General in on the joke. Though they would need to recover the rest of their members before they even thought about bringing on a new part of the team.
"Truthfully I think Oliver isn't a bad name, but Denryu suits you better." The Doctor agreed tracing out the rough kanji for the name in the perspiration from her mug of tea on the counter. "Ironically it mean 'Electric Dragon."
"Dagger has mostly been staying up top. He likes to keep watch on the clinic tent, but the base is big enough that with Angel around he's fairly content. Cloak is thrilled though. He likes fortresses and is content that I'm letting him make this place as defensible as he likes to his hearts content so long as it doesn't kill us." She explained carefully changing the subject as she considered how her own team was adapting to the change.

"And that squirrel's tamer ended up being an electrician." Oh, if only - but Luke, reasonably, wanted no part of anything they had to offer after the desert incident. Still, Kan seemed like a reasonable-enough choice, even just for his skill with his spirits.
"Mm, I'm aware." Denryu gave a nod, in regards to his name. "Its something I thought up when I realized a disproportionate amount of tamers were Japanese. Before my face was stuck next to it, it did its job throwing a fair number of people off."
As for Cloak and Dagger, well, he was just glad the two could entertain themselves. "So long as the DarkKnightmon doesn't go too overboard, I think we'll be fine." But, then again, this was Cloak they were talking about! "This sort of place is right up Demon's alley, and fixing up the wiring here's got Volt entertained enough. Angel, though, she just can't mellow out unless she has her rapier. Hm."
That did make him consider his options - for a moment, at least.
"Falcon should just be a day trip to the Network Plains. What I find interesting there, though, is that his signal hasn't moved more than a quarter mile since I first started tracking them. In a city, that would make sense, but in the middle of nowhere?"

"That is concerning..." Cassandra murmured her brow furrowing as she considered what could possibly cause the flying Digimon is such an open area to remain in one place. None of her conclusions though were positive however.
"I hope he hasn't crashed and damaged a wing. If that happened it's likely he tried to move himself on foot to a gully or copse of trees for cover and might be nursing his wounds. Still while I know Angel misses her rapier I think you're correct in Falcon being the next highest priority. I can't think of any positive reason for a flying digimon like himself to remain stationary that long unless he's in bad shape." The Doctor concluded as she took another sip of her tea.
"Though I am glad the others are settling in well enough. They even blend in surprisingly well in Tenebrous given it's such a patchwork city as is."

"Wounded in the escape? Seems like the most likely explanation, but in that case, its fortunate that he hasn't been discovered yet."
Tapping at that screen for a few moments, he gave an idle nod at Cassandra's agreement. Of course Falcon was the next highest priority - so much that the conversation of how his current members have fit into the city only got a noncommittal 'hm'. Cassandra had caught him at a moment where the gears were turning in his head.
Its not like he had too many options. "Well, would Argent like to come and help the masked General patch up that wounded bird?" Denryu gave a half-shrug at the idea. "Raider and Blade might be a bit easier at the end if we can just get a signal out to them. This is the only pressing one left to find."
