Holly stared at that envelope for a few minutes longer before opening it back up and dumping it out on her bed. Bill after bill swath stared her in the face and she'd bite her lower lip calmly. As it sat right now Iris had left her to her own devices to go check something out in terminus leaving the meicoomon to her own devices.
So what better way to spend a little time than learning about how much money she actually had. She'd start to page through the bills frowning slightly as the numbers stared back at her. She'd hop down and scurry over to her desk, dragging out some paper and a writing utinsal in order to add everything together.
Humming softly she'd slowly go through the bills, unbinding them and placing them to the side after she had counted them her tail swishing about as she did so. She didn't really have a grasp on how much this really was worth, but it seemed like a big number to her.
"Tch... this much money seems so pointless... What can I even buy with this much?"
Further still the meicoomon didn't have a firm grasp on the leves of the world. She still didnt' understand the concept of money in itself and without a solid point of reference she'd be floundering. She didn't know what was what, or who to ask about this. On top of it all the meicoomon also had left her door unlocked allowing just about anyone to come in and see her with the wads of money out of that unmarked envelope....

Okay, really. Guard Duty Training?!
Mikemon understood that Holly didn't know what she wanted to do, and that she had a hundred and one options laid down before her feet... but really, this is what she picked? One where she would stand around on point most of the day, with little to no stimulation? That was something more up Siris' alley, and yes, it was a respectable occupation, but...
... Well, it didn't fit. He didn't know what Holly wanted to do, but he was confident it wasn't that... or, maybe it was! Holly had been out quite a while, so maybe she was taking the training seriously? Regardless, he gave a positive hum, a number of informational brochures under his arm, as he went up to Holly's room. Maybe she just needed her options better explained? He didn't think much of it, simply turning the Meicoomon's door open, to step right in.
"Holly? I got a few things for you to look at!" He gave a smile, keeping a positive attitude... before he paused. His eyes froze at the bed... Mikemon's smile frozen on his face, as he started to give a nervous chuckle.
... Hoo boy.

Honestly with all the choices that had been lain in front of her, the meicoomon hadn't expected her parents to really flinch or think twice when she spoke of what she was doing and provided the paperwork to back it up. So honestly when she heard that twist of the door knob the meicoomon froze, knowing that syre was probably either out or at her studies this meant that it was likely one of her parents.
She had forgotten to lock the door of all things.
So not only did the mikemon see her on the bed counting the bills, he also seemed to be in the right mind to have her look at other things. Her eyes locking on the brochures then dancing up to her da's face which had frozen in a smile. Which was followed suit by the mikemon starting to nervously chuckle.
"D-da I can... explain..."
The sheer weight of nervousness in her voice was disgustingly obvious as the meicoomon didn't even try to hide the bills that were sitting on the bed. She knew that she probably shouldn't of bothered with them in that fashion nor should she of been doing this while people were up... but she didn't figure that her father would come in here without knocking and waiting for her to answer!

"A... ahah..."
Oooh, dear. Mikemon wasn't even a year old at this 'dad' business, and yet here he was, looking at something that he couldn't have even pictured in a thousand years. There Holly was, at her desk, calculating through what looked to be several thousand worth of bits set on her bed. In his stunned state, those brochures slipped right out of Mikemon's hand, spilling out onto the floor next to him.
"So... you can explain..." Right. Mikemon calmly stepped in, closed the door, and locked it shut - no need for anyone else in the Library to get involved in this. Unfortunately, 'da' here could not unsee what he just had, and he needed to carefully consider what to do next. He sat down - and motioned for Holly to sit next to him - that smile quickly fading from Mikemon's face.
"... Alright. No tricks. No lying. You're going to tell me exactly what you've been up to, Holly."

Holly let out an exasperated sound as she looked down at her bits finding that it was nasty to look at in this sort of light. She'd bite her lower lip as she could hear the brochures clattering on the floor. She'd squeeze her eyes shut as she heard that door closing and then firmly locking. She felt her own breathing sort of hike for a second and she'd flatten her ears slowly against her head.
"Y-yes..."
She'd stammer a bit and flinch a bit as she heard him sit down, turning her head he was now motioning to her to sit next to him. Biting her lower lip again she'd hop down and slowly walk over, hopping up on the bed fidgeting nervously. Jeez she wanted to break it to him in a calm and controlled manner not like this! That smile was gone from her Da's face and she'd gulp softly.
No tricks. No lying. She had to tell him what she had been up to.
She fidgeted and looked down at her lap, unable to meet her father's gaze. So of course she'd slowly exhale out, a breath that was far too heavy for someone of her age and then she would begin to explain.
From the start.
From that first meeting with iris.
The letter she hid from them.
The 'place' she had been doing training. She left out where exactly because she didn't want her father to get hurt.
The training, the training, that week of prep...
The job. The job that she had done, the speculation from everyone that had come from before it. How all of them seemed to think she didn't fit.
But then she did that job without much of a hitch, she even gave the name of the person that she did the job on. He said no lying so she didn't. It took her maybe an hour of flat talking to explain everything, every single step that she had taken thus far and the reasoning for the fakeness she had been pushing towards everyone.
"...So many people trying to make me consider my choices and not even one of them realizing that maybe I didn't want to choose something grandoise. At... first i just wanted to be like you Da. I could never be like Ma... you know? She's just so high up there. But after that test I realized that I could be more than what I thought, and I can still be more than what I am here. But when Iris popped up, I saw something that I might be really good at, something I could do and still.. be here and just..."
The meicoomon was tugging sharply on her ears, both of them pointed straight down as she bit hard on her lip trying to contain the emotions that were building up in her chest. She had done a stunning job of explaining everything but honest to goodness this entire thing had frazzled her a bit. If the people back home learned what she did well... she doubted she'd be allowed back in.

This wasn't going to be easy for either of them. But, at the very least, Holly told the truth, and didn't leave out a single important detail. She told her everything: about how she was found, about how Syre had helped hide this from 'mom and dad', about that training area and hideout in Luminas... and the job. The job, that had caused a wave of news that had even come down to Terminus, leaving reporters and investigators baffled.
... And here Holly was, talking about it like she had just made a career choice. Mikemon listened calmly, hearing every word of it, even asking questions to try and get more detail, but the way she spoke at the end made him question her motives. "... Holly. Your mom and I understood from the very start... and we would support you, no matter what you wanted to be. First of all, I want to make sure you know that. And second..."
Mikemon sighed, taking a deep breath before he spoke again.
"I want to ask if you understand the weight of what you did."
His tone was more sharp than it was a moment ago. "Remove away the training, the cameras, the break-in, the cover up. Do you understand, Holly, that you were paid money to kill someone, because someone asked you to. Just trusting what they said about him."

The meicoomon flicked her ears a bit and she'd frown slowly feeling like the choices she had made were wrong as her father spoke. She didn't get that feeling from them and she'd furrow her brows slowly. She'd open her mouth to respond and then would find herself faltering a bit as he asked his questions and the meicoomon would sit there. Opening and closing her mouth; blinking owlishly as the gravity of the situation seemed to still elude her.
She'd bring a hand up to her head and frown deeper still, trying to sort of piece together everything step by step like he asked her to. She'd feel her jaw slacken just a bit and she'd deflate like a balloon falling backwards on the bed staring up at that ceiling.
"I... No.. I... he..."
The meicoomon sputtered a bit and felt her face drain of color. She had been so proud of herself for going through that entire gauntlet of training, the actual sneaking around and then the... the... She'd scrunch her brow a little bit as she was unable to really remember actually doing the act itself.
"...I..."
She had absolutely nothing for this.

... Oh dear.
Holly really didn't know - or at least, she hadn't thought through what this meant - and it showed. As soon as she was plainly confronted with her actions, the Meicoomon was left stammering, her voice losing confidence, her expression losing color. What she had sounded so confident in only a minute ago, she was now questioning.
At least, that's how the Mikemon saw it. "Tch." Giving a 'tsk' with his fangs, he'd look down at her, and sigh. "... Damn it, sit up, Holly." His words didn't have the sharpness that he'd had a moment ago - and he'd help the Meicoomon sit up, if she needed it.
"Holly. Listen to me, very carefully. Think carefully, and answer."
He'd give her a slow nod, and start:
"Do you think you are doing the right thing?" It was a vague question, but he narrowed it down: "To stop those that can hurt others, to stop fights before they would cause widespread damage. Do you believe in their methods?"

The meicoomon stared at the cieling, trying to get her thoughts together. Trying to sort the mess that they were in now, she didn't have shade here to provide a cool approach to this. She herself was still working on that; but when her Da tsked she'd flinch visibly even if it lacked the sharpness. She'd slowly up with his help, still tugging nervously at her ears like she had really done something bad.
And then he told her to listen to him, she'd gulp and shiver looking up at him. It looked like she was about to honest to god cry right before anything; the tangle of emotions that were running through her made it plainly that obvious.
Did she think that she was doing the right thing? She'd blink a few times and then he explained it out a bit she'd turn her head and look down at the floor, finding her shoulders slowly sag.
"I... think it makes... sense but... with how you... you responded I... I don't know... Is... is that wrong?"
Holly honestly didn't know if it was a bad thing, people that she met said it was. But here was one of the people that she loved and cherished treating the idea of it in her mind like it was a horrible thing. She didn't know. She really didn't and she figured she probably wouldn't unless she was told.
"I..."

"Don't worry about what I think, Holly. And don't worry about what Iris would tell you, either."
Mikemon's tone was careful - he knew that Holly had a lot going on in her head right now, and she was stammering - and she didn't know what to think. Bringing an arm around her back, the doctor would give a slow nod, looking at Holly eye-to-eye. Yes, she looked like she was about to cry, and the emotions were welling up inside... but there was something there.
A deep spark. Maybe something that the doctor realized when they had their first few days of training.
"You said it made sense. If that's what you believe, Holly, I'm not going to question it. I do know if the group you're talking about." Not the specifics, of course, but at the very least the rumors that had been scattered around the shadows of the world. "I just want to make sure you understand: these acts are yours. This job is dangerous - and you may very well end up doing something you'll one day regret."
He gave another sigh... was it really alright for him to be saying this to her? She definitely had a talent for it - and there's a place for this sort of job. But... really? My Holly?

Holly slowly nodded her head as her father told her not to worry about what he thought or what Iris would tell her. She'd nervously tug at her ears and finding that arm around her back the meicoomon would start to hiccup a bit as tears actually did indeed flow. She'd push herself against her Da and tightly hug him feeling like an absolute mess.
So her Da knew of this group, that she did believe it and he wouldn't question her. He then laid it plainly out, that these acts were hers. That this job was dangerous and that she'd... do something she'd one day regret. She felt awful about this whole thing and the meicoomon let out a mumbly mess almost halfway hidden behind the lip biting, head pushing and crying.
"C-can... Can I still be a doctor like you Da...?"
Sure she was working in that group, that she would do jobs that she wouldn't particularily enjoy or agree with but... she still had a life outside of the damn thing and boy was she already regretting her decisions thus far. But unfortunately there was no backing out for her up until the group itself fell under.
If it ever did.

... Darn it, Holly.
Mikemon returned that hug, of course, giving a gentle smile as she cried against his chest, carefully holding his arms around her back. As she sobbed, and asked that question, he gave a chuckle. "Of course, of course. You'd make a great one, you'd just have to put your head to it."
Of course, Holly couldn't just leave her job as an assassin, but she could make whatever she wanted out of her life. That said, even as Holly was regretting her decisions, well, Mikemon still had to throw that good ol 'dad' salt in the wound:
"You'll work with that group still - and with time, maybe you'll get a better answer for my questions. And I am going to talk with mom about this. But for now?" He sighed. "... You're grounded. You, and Syre both."
Yup. "For lying earlier, of course. Do you want to scrub the walls of the library, or the floors?"

Holly pressed her face against her da's fur letting out a small somewhat affectionate sounding sob. Somehow she managed to sound rather pleased at the idea at that and well... in the middle of crying no less.
"Well.. I... I can sort of have five heads to put together for it! well... for study purposes i mean... But yeah! Okay!"
The meicoomon made an exasperated sound as she hadn't really told her da what her form was capable of or what she had found out and she'd flick an ear as he told her that she would still work with the group... as well as giving an answer for his questions. Then he'd talk to her ma... and... for now she was grounded.
Holly slowly blinked as he told her this nervously rubbing at her neck before slowly nodding.
"Grounded? What does... I've never been grounded Da. You. I. What does that mean?"
The meicoomon looked absolutely bewildered at the word and flicked her ears thinking a bit and then scratching at her head. Frowning slowly she'd just sigh and shrug slowly.
"Walls. Top to down right?"
She knew how to clean at the very least, not extraordinarily well mind you but she had a feeling it didn't matter which she took. She'd probably have to wash them multiple times...
"...Can I at least look at the brochures first...?"

"Heh... I'm sure you'll do great, Holly." Gently scratching her back, it seemed that Holly was slowly starting to settle down... even to the point of asking what 'grounded' meant. To that, Mikemon gave a blink.
Had she never even heard of it, before?
"Well, Holly... it means that you did something bad, that we don't want you to do again." He started to explain: "Because you lied to ma and me, this is to teach you a lesson to not lie to us again. Oh, and no clones to help you out with it, either. Syre will be washing the floors, then."
Mikemon was very clear - both in his intent, and that he wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer. To that last part, he gave a sigh. "Fine. Just be downstairs by the supply room in an hour, alright?"

"I hope so..."
Holly mumbled a bit and sighed, she honestly wasn't sure just how many things she would be good at. Sure that test from last month seemed to make everyone think that she would do well no matter where she ended up but what if there was something she wasn't going to be good at? What if her desire to be like her father ended up with her just failing nastily down the line?
"Oh. Well.. Okay. I see... So it's just a way of teaching me stuff too? But.. because I did something bad? Why's it called grounded and not 'cleaneded'? And... all right no clones..."
The meicoomon grumbled a little bit, as much as it was obvious she really liked having her clones around helping and doing things with her. They made it go by faster and she could bounce ideas off of them every so often.
"All right... I'll circle some of the stuff in the brochures when I've looked them over.."
Holly would mumble a little bit and hop off of her bed, picking up the brochures with a frown crossing her face slowly. She'd pause and look back at her dad for a moment. She looked confused as though she was thinking through multiple things at once and not coming up with answers she liked or failing to find them completely.
"...So... if... lying is bad... What... what else is bad? Or is that sort of just... something you find out on your own?"
