"Sorry Cub. We still need to get those tangles out of your mane." Logane rumbled out with a soft smile as he dipped his paw into the tub mumbling something about cats and water before grabbing Kitt gently by the scruff and lifting him out. "Come on now." He murmured setting the dripping wet Spadamon down onto the towel on the floor as he grabbed a second one to run over Kitt. Scuffing him dry with the soft fuzzy fabric until gradually the little felines fur began to fluff up once more.
"A couple more decent meals and I'd say we'll get your coat thickened up decent enough." The Bancho Leomon predicted scooping Kitt up once more as he strode towards the twin bed, dumping Kitt lightly onto it while he grabbed a comb as Eris scampered up next to him.
"You're so fluffy now Kitt!" Eris chirped stars in her eyes as she poked his fur with one leg before petting him. "Wow your mane is super long too!" She added as Logane settled onto the bed behind him and began carefully tugging the comb through the snarls and knots in the white mass of fur.
"Probably longer once we unkink some of it." Logane agreed working a comb through a particularly stubborn knot.
"Aww, c'mon!" Kitt complained in a kid-ish tone, frowning at the Bancho Leomon while puffing his cheeks into a pout expression. His tail flicking idle behind him as Logane placed him on the floor, drying him off with a towel. This kind of behavior was not usually tolerated by the Spadamon as it projected him as a kid - something he didn't liked being compared to. But in this instance, he wanted to act like a kid for just this once.
As he finished drying off, he felt a cool breeze coursing through his hair. It felt nice. Logane scooped him up and carried him to the bed. If this was him an hour and a half ago, he would demanded at the Bancho Leomon to set him down as he was not a child. But again, he wanted to feel like a child.
"R-Really?" he replied to Eris, taking a look at the mirror that was on the other side of the room. He looked like cloud with all this puffiness. He placed his hands on his mane, ruffling his mane which was all down and all pulled over to his shoulders. "Thanks!" He winced a bit in response to Logane going through his fur with a comb.
"Ahh, take it easy." he told the Bancho Leomon. He didn't realized how nappy his fur was. Perhaps it was a sign that he had to groom himself regularly
"Don't worry I'm almost done then you can maintain it more regularly yourself easily enough. It's just faster if someone helps you get the initial knots out." Logane explained with a low chuckle as Eris sat grinning softly at the two. If she didn't know any better she would have never been able to tell the two weren't related, but everyone at Icy Fate was one big family of strays.
"Yeah one time Uncle Logane got tossed through these trees and all the sticks got tangle into his mane and my Dad had to pick branches out of his hair for hours." Eris chirped with a smile even as she padded towards the head of the bed dragging the covers back with her teeth to cuddle under them.
"There. Done." The Bancho Leomon murmured setting the comb aside as her rose to make good use of his own bed only pausing to muss up Kitt's freshly combed mane with one big paw in an affectionate ruffle. Then like a tree Logane toppled on top of the mattress landing with a soft thud and a bounce and a happy sigh. He'd need to think up an excuse of where he got the kid or figure out a way to explain their stay at the inn not involving his pastime of cards.
"Night Uncle Logane!" Eris murmured pulling the covers back a bit further and scooting over to give Kitt room to crawl in.
"Night kids." Came the Banch Leomon's muffled reply.
When Loagne finished coming the Spadamon's fur, Kitt took one last look into the mirror before the Bancho Leomon turned the lights off, telling the two that it was time for bed. His hair flowed freely without any strains of hair sticking out. His fur lacked any matts. Instead his fur had never felt so curly in well...ever. He had never looked this amazing before. His appearance had now returned to a healthier look, almost like as if he just digivolved back into a Rookie again.
After Eris and Logane said their goodnight to each other, going under their blankets. Kitt followed suite and got under the blankets with Eris, giving her as much space as possible. Thirty minutes later, the Spadamon found it difficult to sleep. To past the time until he became tired, he quietly climbed up the window ledge that was above their bed. He leaned on the window to watch the night sky. The moon was overlooking this side of the inn, shinning down on the bed the two were sleeping on. Combine with the illuminating city of golds and diamonds, it turned into a beautiful imagery; like a painting.
"Hey Eris?" he called in a low tone to not wake up Logane. Unsure if whether or not the Gigimon was awake, he continued. "You were right. This whole time, I've been looking at myself wrong this whole time. I let those people get under my skin, so much that I believed all of it. Looking at the mirror a while ago, I saw something else: me. Not a freak, not a joke, not a disgrace, just a nice looking Digimon."
He titled his head upwards at the moon, his eyes shining a deep gold as he gazing deeply into its surface.
"You, Logane, and that bartender - you guys were the first Mon that ever saw me for who I truly was. My appearance along shouldn't define who I am, and that's what you taught me. And for that I'm truly grateful." He turned towards Eris, who was covering herself with the blankets. He smiled. "Thank you my best friend."
"Hmmm?" Eris mumbled sleepily cracking one eye open at Kitt's soft call as she peered over the blankets at him with a half-lidded gaze. A slow warm smile lightning up her face at his words as the Gigimon stood yawning and stretching like a cat as she shook of the covers. With a carefully gauged jump, only scrabbling a little over the sill, she landed next the Spadamon on the window ledge. Circling once before she draped herself carefully over his lap. Radiating a soft warmth from her own little internal furnace like a tiny blanket fresh from the dryer.
"You don't have to thank me." The Gigimon murmurs softly a low happy thrum curling up from her throat as she closed her eyes.
"Friends see each other as they really are regardless of appearances." She explains in a low whisper as she nuzzles her head against the fur of Kitt's stomach her tiny body going slack in sleep though the happy thrumming never ceases.
When they had met the Spadamon had been in search of gems and jewels in the muck, but Eris knows Kitt was the real prize among all that trash. A diamond in the rough. Dragons after all were known to have excellent taste in treasure and Eris thought the Spadamon made a fitting start to her horde.
