Unknown Potential [Carlos]

There was quite a bit to take away from the Doctor's "short" story. Not only in the practical sense, but it helped both Carlos and Dio get a glimpse at how things must have worked back before Dio's fall and rehatching. What really stood out to them was how the Doctor played his part in the whole thing, however.
"So not only you took the throne off someone else's hands, but also took on their form when you decided you had enough?" The impmon questioned. Had the revelation come from any other digimon, he would have probably been a bit shocked. Coming from this Mikemon however? All he could do was chuckle to himself a bit, shaking his head. There was something oddly amusing about knowing such an amiable and down to earth digimon like him had been capable of such things back in the day. Heck, for all he knew maybe he still was. All the more reason he was certainly glad to have him as an ally.
"Have to admit, didn't quite expect that from you, but I suppose you were quite a different digimon back then compared to now." He shrugged, not wanting to dwell on that for much longer, unless his instructor for the day wished it so. They were here for something other than talking about the old days, and it's not like Dio could really share any anecdotes of his own...
...though that got him thinking, remembering a rather odd question that had been on the back of his mind for a while now. He'd look down at his fiery blade, before looking back up at the Mikemon, a rather contemplative expression in his face.
"Do you think tapping into this power could help me refresh my memory of those times a bit?"

"Oh, the throne was never his. It was just someone who wanted to convince everyone that he was Greed so he could run the show."
Well... didn't that hit a bit close to home? Mikemon returned that chuckle, rolling his shoulders as the Impmon took it all in. Indeed, that wasn't anywhere close to how the doctor was nowadays, the cat giving a shrug. "Greed's influence was rather potent. Took me a long while to figure that I could be anyone else... hm?"
Curious. Dio wanted to know more about his past life? "There's always the possibility - but it would be a bit different than mine. You're from an egg that came back after a Demon Lord fell, after all - you actually might have memories far older or younger than that life. Well, if you have any of them at all." It was an interesting thing to think about: "Still, there's no point obsessing over it. You'll be practicing with this power anyway, so it'll either come or it won't."
Past that, the cat racked his head. "For now... every other day, I want you to practice using that 'saberk'. It should be easier to maintain once you get a good grip on how to shape it..."

Dio nodded silently, taking in the Mikemon's words. Well, that certainly made sense, after all the Doctor's current form...or rather that late Mikemon's form didn't exactly seemed fitting for a Demon Lord of Greed. All the more reason for the Doctor to take on this form to get away from it all. That said Dio visibly perked up at something in particular the Champion level said.
"Took me a long while to figure that I could be anyone else..."
Dio couldn't help but chuckle a bit at those words as he shook his head. Was it a sincere laugh? It was hard to tell, honestly, specially considering what came afterwards. "Funny, K told me something like that forever ago. Don't think I could be anything but the Dark Lord now, however. Doing this just...feels like the right thing, knowing what I know. Or at least I can't imagine being anything else." He shrugged a bit, sounding rather contemplative, but didn't dwell on that thought for much longer, as the doctor's other answer gave him quite a bit to think about.
So he could still have memories that went not only as far back as his past life, but even older? That was...quite a doozy, to be honest. It almost hurt to think that so much history could be locked away in the imp's head. Probably better to take the Mikemon's words to heart and not obsess over it right now.
"Will do." He said with a small nod, practizing every day was something even he could do with ease. He then turned once more to the feline digimon and asked, "So, what's next on the plate? Any other similar excersises or..."
It was clear he was looking forward to having more to do, but he'd understand if his "instructor" would rather call it a day for the time being. He had already taken enough time from him just walking all the way out here to find a suitable place after all.

Trust me, Dio, there's no-one else you can be but 'Dio'." Chuckling a bit at that contemplative thought, giving that small joke at Dio's expense, the cat let that thought roll by. It felt like things were wrapping up fairly quickly out here as it was, and Dio sensed it too!
"Right now, we'll be spinning in circles if we try and keep up the pace." Mikemon gave a shrug. "More will come with practice, but until you get a handle on the basics, some of the more involved stuff will be too dangerous to do. I shouldn't have to remind you, but an energy sword that causes things to explode internally isn't exactly the most stable weapon." Actually, it was about the most unstable thing that Mikemon could think of!
With that, Mikemon would briefly turn his attention to Carlos: "No offense to the Impmon here, but be sure to keep an eye on him, alright?" He was sure Carlos could at least rein the Impmon in if necessary, at least!

Even if it was clear the Mikemon meant it mostly as a friendly jab at the imp's ego, Dio couldn't help but feel somewhat reassured by it. It was almost a reminder that it didn't quite matter what he might have been in the past, Dio was free to do with himself as he pleased...though it wasn't enough to dissuade him from continuing with his Dark Lord schtick.
"Got it, at least this gives me something to aim for." He nodded. Practicing every day wasn't exactly much to ask for him, it's not like he had anything else to do otherwise. Though he would chuckle evilly at the Doctor's comment about how "unstable" such a power was. "Of course, but that's exactly what makes it fun!"
Was making Dio aware of such powers within him an irresponsible thing to do? If it was, it sure didn't seem to bother Carlos, who was now standing close to the two digimon with a content look. At the very least Dio seemed pleased with himself, and that was enough for the man.
"Heh, I'll try, Doc." He replied to the short cat, giving a small laugh. Frankly, looking after the small devil felt more like being a nanny than anything else to him. "Shouldn't be too hard anyways, living with him it's a constant responsability." The man said, affectionately patting the purple digimon on the head as he did.
"Hey, quit it, I'm not a kid!" Dio protested at this, but luckily for Carlos he wasn't as prone to try his new found power against his tamer as he had before.
With that done, the man would grab on to his backpack with one hand and turn his attention the other two. "It's getting late, we should probably head back before anyone asks where we went."

If nothing else, Dio was dedicated! Call it a bit of bias, but the cat couldn't exactly see Dio as the type to stand around practicing every day before, but maybe the doctor was wrong. If he believed his own delusion so thoroughly, after all, maybe he tried to make himself fit that role as best as he could?
Hard to say. Mikemon trusted that Dio knew exactly how dangerous this weapon was, simply giving a chuckle as he mentioned how fun it was. "Eh, I suppose it is. It should go without saying, though, that this should be more of a 'secret weapon'. There are those out there who do know what Demon Lords are supposed to feel like, and... yeah, outing ourselves is a good way to cause trouble."
Mikemon knew, Dio knew, and Carlos would do his best to keep it under wraps. Laughing at Dio's expense with the tamer's comment, the cat returned a nod to the last. "Aye... I should check in with Syre and the rest, anyway. Dio, I'll keep in touch in a week or so just to see how it's coming along. Later!"
