What was this place?
He had traveled a little bit, dipping himself into many different environments that time and time again had pleased him in a hunters sense. But when the portal had opened up to this.. this asphalt jungle he wasn't sure what to think.
There were so many of those fleshlings here that it was considered a bloody paradise for them. They walked everywhere, smelled everywhere. He could just taste them in how many were here. It would be comparatively overwhelming. But any time he tried to address one of them they screamed, ran or passed out leaving the hunter baffled.
He wasn't hungry. He was just confused.
So when these people in blue showed up, looking around with these.. metal things that he didn't recognize he'd tried to address them too. But only one of them, the rest either ran or passed out like the rest. His appearance here making them jittery. He'd sniff and shift, laying into his soft questioning. He asked where he was. Getting an answer that just led him into a further bout of questioning.
Tokyo.
Downtown Shibuya...
It was all he could get out of that babbling mess, clacking his teeth he'd leave them to their crumpled mess of bodies. He'd have to hide, sneak around. Find what they were talking about. He had never heard of this place.
He stopped when he smelled something... odd. Something fragrant. Like worry in the middle of a herd, like passion in the middle of a nest. It was confusing, it was palatable. The darkness of the area creeping up on him as he slid towards the sign that spoke, that wrote to the humans passing him by.
He couldn't read whatever this sign said but it was gentle, it was glowing. It was attractive and it held scents within that the shade was only able to couple in by sliding in past a human that exited. The creature's face screwing up a bit at feeling that passing presence.
There seemed to be many individuals getting up, or leaving of their own accord. Some were there on their own and he'd slowly creep through the shadows. Hearing bits of conversations that he barely understood. Something about 'closing time' being soon. He could feel the presence of humans diminishing a bit. Something that he wasn't able to really understand.
Then that's when he felt it proper, something like his own. Coming from a human. A human that stood behind some barrier. He'd stay in those shadows, creeped away from sight. Watching that human curiously, she was unlike any that she had ever seen before. Something... he could explain.
If he had to attribute it to something he'd have to say strong. Maybe not in the data signal they presented to him, maybe not in anything that they presented. Was that signal even from them? He didn't know. He didn't know much about humans. So all he could do was wait. Watch. Tilt his head in that shadow under the tables. Watching those feet pass by...
He'd grip at the middle of the table with appendages of weightless nature. He'd drag his teeth along his shadowy form simply staring in silence at the human. To some maybe she would be prey? Maybe in the digital world she could satisfy hunger but here... she seemed prime in her element.
He felt something shift above him and some human that he hadn't noticed in the booth mumbled something about a draft and he'd gritt his teeth again. Just...
What was this place? Who was this human? Where was he...?
No.
What was she?

Closing time was a welcomed change of pace from the night's usual rush of activity. The bar's last call had come and gone, and with it most of the customers saw themselves out after clearing their tabs. Some had to be gently helped towards the door so they didn't walk into anything, but the bar staff looked upbeat for the most part. It was almost time for them to go home as well, after all.
Once the last of the customers had been ushered out the workers congratulated each other with high fives and cheers for a job well done. Now it was their time to relax a little as they cleaned up, and some of them eased up on uniform rules. They all wore the same thing for the most part. A white long-sleeve button up shirt, black slacks or skirts, black ties with neatly folded knots, and a deep red velvet vest. Buttons were being undone, sleeves were rolled up, ties were loosened, and vests were unzipped to help culture the growing atmosphere of comfort.
While Sunny did roll up her sleeves she left the rest of her uniform as is. Long legs cloaked in black stockings and heels busied their way around the bar as she left the counter to help collect stray glasses and bottles left strewn about. The clamor of glass clinking upon glass echoed for a while as the staff placed things where they needed to be. In the wash sinks, in recycling bins, or the trash.
As they moved about Sunny did spend some time chatting with her peers, and they all shared stories of amusing happenings. The banter helped keep their mood up long enough till it was time for even them to go home. However, Sunny volunteered to close the building for the morning, and encouraged her friends to go home and rest while she got a game of pool in.
She kept the soft music playing in the background, and even turned off most of the lights in the main room, seeing no need for them. With a contented sigh she racked the pool table, an island of smooth green felt lit from above in the darkness of the room. After she chalked a cue stick she took her time lining up her first shot, leaning over the table comfortably. The sound of the balls hitting each other and bouncing around the table offered a brief contrast to the relaxing music in the background.
The human hummed softly to herself as she slowly stalked around the table next, debating her next shot. When she found an angle she liked, she stopped and chuckled.
"I see you," she spoke in a teasing voice before leaning over the table again, lining her cue stick up.

More left.
More and more and more... Humans that didn't smell like this place and weren't dressed as well. There were some that smelled like this place for years, but none of them seemed to smell like this place as much as the person that he was fixing his attention on. He'd watch her curiously, inspecting her from a distance. She chatted with some of the other humans, the soft music muting her words to him.
The sound of glass, the sound of brooms. A man ducked down far enough to where he could sweep under the table that the shade was hiding under. He'd quickly settle into the shadows staring at the man with a frozen breath. Time passed, slow as it did. The banter they made made their cleaning go quicker and quicker...
Eventually? Well the human was all on her own. In this place with the wraithmon. He considered how to approach her, how to ask. The blinds were closed. The door was locked. He could speak to this other person that no doubt was aware of the digital world. What was with that signal that he sensed if she didn't?
Most of the lights were off, the music was softer and the human started to do something on the table above him. He'd blink a few times as he could hear the gentle click of those balls hitting one another. It was a surprising contrast to the music. He heard that humming and he'd just sit there considering his actions.
"I see you."
Shade froze in place and narrowed his eyes. She too possessed the sense he did? She couldn't of seen him easily. That teasing voice lacking any direct lying. No she wasn't lying but he wasn't aware of what she was talking about. And like that shade would act. Sliding his body along the same side of the table that sunny was standing on. The first thing she would feel was the cold firm grasp of something on her ankles.
Then he'd slowly slid out of it's shadow. Twisting around it's body and pressing down against it. Hands planting in key places such as it's waist or shoulders. Two of his arms sliding along her own, overlapping here or there before splaying between her fingers with a physical touch.
His head would rest on her shoulders, that maw of teeth being easily seen out of the corner of her eye. The pressure of his data signal making itself blatantly known along with that gentle tugging of his aura. For how he was pushed against this human she could feel the smoothness of what amounted to the scales. The wraithmon growled lowly in the human's ears while firmly holding her against this pool table.
"Fleshling has good senses... to notice shade..."
He knew that humans had devices, he knew that they had tools. Overlapping his body with this human was a perfect defense for someone like him. They'd struggle to move or grab at it as long as he was like this. But he couldn't do anything himself like this. A perfect stalemate for the two of them at least. He'd clack his teeth thoughtfully and ease his head down so that one of his eyes on his head that usually remained unopened was staring directly at her. If sunny wished she could meet this deadly gaze...
"Not... here to harm... but curious... Fleshling has... data signal... Like... others."

The sudden pressure on her ankles startled the woman, making her flinch involuntarily. She remained still after, still leaning over the pool table unsure of what to think. Her coworkers had left, and she was sure they had seen the last of the customers out long before that, even. Even then.. it felt like hands were grabbing her! Then the sensations of being brushed up against rose up her legs.
Dropping her pool cue she straightened up and tried to knock away whatever was climbing up her body with a frightened expression. Black shapes were undeterred, and as more hands grabbed a hold of her Sunny yelped as she was forced back down over the pool table. Seeing inky black hands weave their fingers between her own to pin her down her mind raced for an explanation.
Ghosts?!
'W-Well, there's Aurelia, but she's still a digimon? Are human ghosts a thing too?!' she thought to herself hurriedly as the dull throbbing of her own quickening pulse pounded against her ears. The idea of screaming for help had crossed her mind, but that immediately evaporated as a snout with many, many teeth rested on her shoulder. Along with the sight of terror came an inexplicable pressure of some kind. An unearthly effect that rocked and overwhelmed the human to her core. It was a primal feeling of being so insignificant next to this entity that she tried desperately to squirm away.
...and then it talked.
Fleshling? Shade? What was it talking about?! Flinching at the distinct clacking of teeth Sunny then froze once more as she made eye contact with the being. Still breathing in quick, short breaths as she tried to calm down Sunny held its gaze with an incredulous stare. Data signal? Did he mean her digivice and Aurelia? Panic was beginning to set in again. She had never encountered a hostile digimon before. He said he wasn't going to hurt her, but he certainly wasn't being very friendly, either!
"I-If you're not going to hurt me, then let go of me," she whimpered "Please.. ..you're scaring me..." Her body was indeed shaking a little, like a rabbit caught in a wolf's jaws. "What do you mean by data signal? Who.. Who are the others you're talking about?"

Her reaction to his intial touch wasn't surprising. She thought she was alone, so of course she'd be immediately dismissive of the sensation. But then as he climbed her body holding in certain places and trying to knock away his grip while discarding her only weapon amused him in a fashion. He could feel the nervous nature of the one that he was pressing against, restraining in a good fashion.
He could feel her pulse, he could feel her fear. He could see the lines on her face as she saw those teeth of his as he smiled at her. The terror that she was feeling he could taste and practically gorge himself on. That primal desire to escape allowed her a little room to squirm but not much else.
His words seemed to confuse her for a moment, her freezing as his eyes locked with hers. Those short shallow breathes as she tried to calm down only drove the wraith to press forward a bit. Somewhat roughly still gripping at the areas between her fingers, overlapping in some places and then a somewhat amused chuckle rolled thickly off of his tongue.
Panic...
Yes she was definitely something that most in his realm would consider prey. He could feel that body start to shake under him, he could feel that nervous tint in her voice. She wanted him to let her go? He was scaring her? Then came more questions. He'd clack his teeth in consideration, ears flicking and he'd continue to stare directly at her. Demanding that his eyes were met by this other as he slowly slipped off of her.
"If fleshling runs... Shade will catch."
It wasn't so much of a threat as just sort of what would follow suit. Her being nervous in this scope would help him but if she fainted or shut down he wouldn't get much use out of her. He'd end up sitting on the table with the many colored balls on it. Tilting a head he'd reach down to gently nudge the black ball with a curious expression.
"...Data... signal... is what.... digimon sense? Fleshling is like that. But... weak?"
The last stretch was said with a mix of audible confusion and concern. To him humans were... well. They were prey in sorts, but they had proven time and time again that they could be strong. That they could be overwhelming, shade closed his eyes and let out a royal huff before opening them back up. Slowly he'd reach over to the pool cue with a lengthening arm and pick it up offering it to sunny with what amounted to a large smile. Though his fear aura was still in effect, it was slowly becoming subdued...
"Shade is... lost. Came here... by accident. Fleshling... world is strange but... tasty?"

His amused chuckle made her pursed lips frown. Still, she nodded in acknowledgement of his promise to pursue her. Or, nodded as much as she could at least, what with her being pressed down against the pool table. After the digimon got off of her Sunny slowly stood up and backed a step away, eyeing Shade cautiously. Now that she could get a good look at him she felt that his chosen name was quite fitting.
Shade mentioned that her digital signal was weak. The comment made her stare silently at the ground in thought. From what little she understood of digimon evolutionary lines, he was right she supposed. Aurelia was only in her rookie form, so it made sense that their signal would be minimal at best. Still feeling the pressure of Shade's own digital signal she looked back up to him, wondering what level he was at himself.
Her mysterious guest picked up her pool cue, and she noted the lengthening ability of his limb. Sunny reached out to take it from him, but ultimately froze in place when he said that her world was tasty. She thought back to mere moments ago when he had her pinned atop the table, and how he had those horrible teeth next to her face. Horror and disbelief flashed across her face as she registered the meaning behind his words. Momentarily she broke eye contact to take the cue stick, but within the next second her indignant expression although laced with fear, hinted at the very real possibility that she might hit him with the item.
"We.. We are," she stammered out, clearly upset by his words. "Humans. We are people, not food!" She could only imagine how many others he had eaten. What their faces might have looked like with Shade pinning them down and leering at them with those sharp teeth of his. What their last thoughts were as they were killed and devoured. Her knuckles tightened around her cue stick, but her gaze dropped to the ground after her little outburst.
"We are people. We have names like you, Shade. My name is Sunny." With a degree of carefulness she looked back up to those many eyes. "I.. I'm a spirit user, but I'm new to it. So that's probably why my signal is, um.. weak. I can show you how to get home, but you have to do something for me, too. No more.. eating.. people, I mean.. Th-that's fair, right?"

The wraithmon paused and sniffed at the human curiously as they backed away a little bit from him. It didn't matter much the distance at least in this area, he could probably reach all of the walls without much issue; he could extend his arms or legs a reasonable distance and well... it wasn't really even fair to consider his tail. Shade could feel those two eyes on him, a few of his other eyes lazily staring back at her.
She looked thoughtful; at least when he mentioned her strength. Perhaps if she was stronger he wouldn't be affecting her so much? It was hard to really tell with humans, they didn't work the same way digimon did. He knew they tasted different, both in emotions and data. The latter of which being fairly disgusting in his opinion. He much preferred their emotions which were rich and flavorful.
He'd clack his teeth thoughtfully; he could get quite a large amount of food from this place and the freezing of the human at his mention of this world being tasty only brought him to tilt his head. Most of what he did here was to sort of prove that he was the dominant creature in a domain that was not his. Doing so made him stronger right? Doing so proved to the others that he was in charge. It was a careful play by a careful predator.
But then came that breaking of eye contact, the subtle expression laced with fear. He didn't really recognize the proper expression she had, perhaps it was because he didn't spend much time around humans that he didn't really understand the resolve. Then she spoke, stammering out that humans were not food. He'd furrow his brow slowly and narrow his largest eye.
"Everyone food. Even shade."
If a larger digimon overpowered him, knocked him down to size and leveled the place that he lived in he'd find himself in a bit of a pinch. He'd get loaded and wouldn't be something anymore. The wraithmon shifted and a brow raised slowly as he noticed the knuckles tightening, the eyes of the human dropping to the ground. Still he held power here...
Then she spoke again. How they had names, of course they had names. He had a name and it was simple. Then she had a name and it was simple too. Sunny. Sunny and shade. That was an amusing little toying in his head that made the wraithmon chuckle. If they didn't have names they'd be even more beast like than he was! Shade would blink however when she met his eyes, the many of which blinked in different sets and sequences. He'd drum his fingers on his snout, his tail curling and twisting in frustration.
No more eating people?
He'd narrow his eyes a little bit and one by one, the eyes on his body would slowly close. His primary eyes on his head slowly opening up. Meeting the eyes of the human in a somewhat demanding, hypnotic way. He'd step forward reaching out slowly. She didn't seem to understand what he meant when he said they were food?
"Spirit user... Sunny does not... Don't want leave... good food..."
He'd speak haltingly, slowly stepping forward bit by bit. His hands coming up to press themselves against her cheeks. He'd exhale slowly and then slowly start to inhale, then there was this nasty tugging at the fear, any sadness, any negative emotion that sunny had been feeling as of today. He would draw it out like one would draw out another's breath by gently squeezing. He was being delicate, gentle, even going so far as to avoid pressing his claws against the human in an effort to keep the emotions he was drawing out free from pain. It wasn't as tasty after all!
The slow cloud that pulled forward came from various points but easiest would slip through her mouth. Much like a smokey trail, it was dark, malign... it felt raw in energy and shade would slowly let the human go his hands gingerly grasping at the floating smoke.
"Humans... have lot of... emotion... so... negative? So... much..."
His actions might of been draining, might of been something that would make sunny feel sick. But there was a small chance that the human would feel a flow of positive emotions from the negative ones being drawn out in such a fashion. But one thing was for certain, in a one two step that dark cloud was gulped down by the wraithmon and he'd let out a small pleased exhalation. He'd stare at sunny and clack his teeth, a small ginger smile creasing across his face.
"See...?"

The way Shade’s eyes blinked independently from each other was distracting. They were all staring at her, studying her, judging her. It was futile to meet all of their gazes, but Sunny’s own stare couldn’t help but wander when another crimson eye opened to focus on her. Somehow, it made her feel smaller. As if there were more than just the two of them in this room. Maybe it was her naivete, but she didn’t want to believe Shade when he said that everyone was food. It was just too barbaric a thought.
Something peculiar happened next. One after another, Shade’s many eyes began to close, and stay closed. All except for the two on his head. Sunny raised a foot to step back as the hairs on the back of her neck stood on end, but as she held the digimon’s gaze her foot returned to its original position. She heard his words, but her consciousness was a haze. Had he always been standing so close? When had he put his hands on her cheeks? Her awareness of these questions began to fade, even as she opened her mouth only to say nothing.
‘Good.. food?’ she thought to herself drunkenly, dimly aware of the situation as she exhaled while he inhaled. She saw the smoke leaving her body. Was she burning? No, not while she felt the cool touch of Shade’s hands. It was almost soothing in a way. For what felt like an eternity he gently squeezed this smoke from her. Once his hands left her however her awareness reawakened. It was a little too late, however; as she blinked in confusion her legs were giving out beneath her, and the woman fell backwards with a soft gasp.
Her mind still felt a little hazy, but things were starting to clear up as she massaged her temples and slowly shook her head. Glancing up at Shade she watched as he made quick work of his food. Her negative emotions, he had called it. Oddly enough, she didn’t feel afraid anymore. It was a confusing moment to be sure, even as she held a fascinated interest in his feeding habits.
“...food?” she said softly as she blinked again. She couldn’t explain it, but she felt better. Better than better! Sunny was in a good mood even with Shade’s harrowing entrance. Realization dawned upon her expression at the hasty error she had made minutes before, and the woman quickly stood up in a huff.
“Oh-my-god! I’m so sorry for being rude!” apologized the human as she bowed as if she had offended a VIP guest, her lips pursing together nervously as she stared at Shade’s feet. “First impressions have already been set, but.. can we introduce ourselves again? I don’t want to start things off on the wrong foot. Although.. could you not put your teeth so close to my face this time, please?” She straightened up clapping her hands together in an imploring gesture, giving the digimon a hopeful smile.

Her reactions to his physical appearance were only to be expected, he could feel that heightened state of fear for all of a few moments. It mattered very little to him what she thought about the way he went about going after his food. If he couldn't feed off of humans at least in this manner what was he going to do? Eat them? The thought made him grimace and stick out his tongue in a somewhat frustrated fashion. A look of actual disgust crossing his face as he had considered that little thing.
Strangely hypnotic as it was for others, it was just kind of natural for him. Pay attention too much and you get caught in the curves, the pacing and the gentle nature of what this feeding was. It was probably way more gentle than he needed to be, or way more gentle than he should of been. As every action leading up to this could of been filled with fear but there was that odd desire to make the other understand that drew him into this.
He'd curiously stare at her while she fell backwards, a brow slowly arching up. Looking down at her for a few long moments. He could feel the distinct lack of the emotions he desired from his food. There was a muted interest in the human at this point. This sunny. He'd slowly close either of his eyes on his head while the many on his body slowly opened one after one.
"Food."
He'd rumble out, the single word rolling out over his tongue and seemed to fill the room with a sheer intensity for a moment. Though he'd draw back in surprise when she stood up. A single step and an array of blinking eyes continued for a few moments. Then that bow, making him even more curious. That sort of movement was often used to submit to predators when weak but that didn't seem... appropriate as well... He had already taken his food from her. Further draining effects would probably tug at negative emotions.
"...Rude...?"
He sounded confused and he'd slowly step forward to sort of correct his stance. Noting that she was now staring at his feet. He had the odd desire to reach forward and tilt her chin upwards but refrained as her own movements solved that issue for him. She had a few desires apparently. Introducing themselves? Something about a wrong foot and... not putting his teeth so close to her face. He'd drum his fingers on his snout and stare at the woman with a multitude of eyes for a moment before slowly nodding.
"Shade..."
Jeez what did he tell that Blackgatomon back in the forest again? That he was some kind of hunter and here he was not only interacting with his prey he was actively considering what they asked of him! He'd lean a bit and tilt his head slowly to one side. While not as close and personal as before, his head somewhat lined up with sunny's in a almost curious even manner.
"...Am... Hunter."
He said that single word as though it defined everything about him. From the mannerisms to his movements. To the way that even now he was looking around the room, studying it. This was a place of excess, he could practically feel the layered emotions here and with a curious tug at the pool table he was curious if he could even do anything with that. But he wasn't that strong where he could take emotions out of inanimate objects... yet.
"Sunny... is...?"
And he'd try doing that thing that she was doing with her face, that showing of teeth. His own smile curved unnaturally and filled up far more space than it rightfully did. Though he kept adjusting it as he recognized the 'expression' from his interaction with that cat back in the forest.

“Shade the hunter,” she repeated softly as she gave the digimon an appraising look up and down. The title made sense to her now that she thought back to his dramatic entrance. She had probably made herself look like easy prey, standing alone in the bar next to a well lit table. That only made her wonder how long Shade had been in the building to begin with, though; had he ‘fed’ upon anyone else? Unlikely, she decided. She knew she herself would have screamed, and loudly, if there were other people still here.
“That’s fitting! You are a good hunter, catching me from under the pool table like you did.” There was a brief pause to pick up her pool stick before she walked beside Shade to lean back against the table. With him having drained the fear from her she felt strangely safe in his presence. As if she were conversing with another customer here in Velvet. “I’m Sunny! Sunny is.. well, Sunny?” The woman gestured to herself with a sweeping hand gesture and chuckled. “Bartender, drink server, and food giver now too, I guess?” The last of these false titles brought an amused smile to her face as she looked up at Shade with a raised brow.
“A lot of people come into this place, y’know? You probably saw for yourself, since I doubt you just walked in right now, right? You little sneak.” She stuck her tongue out playfully at the digimon before laughing softly and waving a hand dismissively. “It’s fine, though. People wander in here looking for different things. Alcohol. Company. Sometimes, even directions like yourself. I try to help everyone out as best I can. I can show you how to get back to the digital world if you want? ‘cause right now, you’re in the human world.”
Using her cue stick like a pointer she gestured in another sweeping motion, this time to the rest of the bar. Maybe their surroundings wouldn’t look too different to a digimon, though? Aurelia had told her that there were bars in the digital world, too. Still, as a proud employee Sunny felt like showing off her own hunting grounds.
“How’d you even get to my world, anyways?” she asked as she looked back to Shade.

Shade drew up a little more as the other repeated what he had more or less told her. Feeling a sort of semblance of pride in the statement being said from another's lips. He'd stare at her quietly and tilt his head slowly. If he had fed on anyone in the bar it would of been in small unnoticeable ways. Though it would likely explain any rush of others as they worked to get out of the 'chill'.
He'd watch her carefully as she spoke, telling him that he was a good hunter. Praising him for how he had caught her. Her coming over to where he was by the table. She leaned on the table and shade could feel from her the distinct lack of negative emotions. His interest in her had dwindled considerably as far as a prey went but he was starting to get more interested in her as the time ticked by. Not many rebounded so well... or as quickly.
"Thank you."
He'd murmer quietly and flick an ear, noting that smile as she told him what she did. A bartender, a drink server and food giver? Well that last one seemed more joking and managed to get a small chuckle from the hunter. He returned that smile, though it was a lot wider than she probably would like.
"Many fleshlings...."
There was a distinct pause and he'd blink a few times as the other teased him at the idea that he had sneaked in. Guessing that he had come in much earlier. That smile widened a bit and he'd dip his head slowly; his own tongue slipping out to stick out... Probably much further than what he intended or what sunny expected.
"...Not... interested in going back yet..."
The digimon shook it's head and scratched at it's neck staring at sunny as she used that cue as a pointer. He'd tilt his head slightly and drummed his fingers on his snout. A few clacks of the teeth and he'd sit on the side of the pool table. For something so big, something that seemed like it'd have weight to it well... He didn't cause even a tiny shift in the pool table or the placements of the balls.
"...Took train. Explored... Saw lift. Went up. Found fleshlings. Explored more. Found here."
For each little snippet the wraithmon was counting on what seemed to be an increasing number of fingers before clacking their teeth again. After a few long moments he'd hop off of the table and eye sunny quietly.
"...Shade... wanted to... know fleshlings. Claire said fleshlings lived here. So shade went. Didn't tell Claire though."
There was a small huff and the wraithmon shook it's head; seeming as though it was going to get in trouble for something like that. There was a small pause and the wraithmon leaned to inspect sunny, her cue and some of the surrounding area for a bit. After a few long moments he'd clack his teeth.
"...This place... is sunny's home?"

Fleshling.
There was that word again. She found herself distinctly not liking it, and Shade’s awkward attempt at a smile hadn’t helped that impression either. It was like he was unfamiliar with the gesture, or maybe his many teeth were getting in the way of things? Sunny couldn’t be sure. Or maybe it was that abnormally long tongue he stuck out to tease her back with? The sight of it sliding out of his mouth made her pause. With his recent siphoning of negative emotions all that welled up as a reaction was a mild sense of unease.
She looked back up at him when he mentioned that he wasn’t ready to go home yet. It was a strange confession to Sunny, but the human listened as Shade gave his reasoning. The digimon sat on the edge of the pool table, but the table didn’t even creak despite his size. Sunny knew it to be fairly sturdy, but that was still strange. Stranger still, as Shade counted steps of his trip on his fingers, extra fingers popped up on the hand he was using. It was a detail that made her smirk in amusement. The digimon slid off the table once he was done with his story, and she was keen enough to pick up on the potential trouble Shade might get into for coming her world.
“Well, if Shade behaves himself, I can tell Claire that you didn’t get into any trouble?” offered the woman with a shrug of her shoulders. She didn’t know who this Claire person was, but Shade seemed to be afraid of upsetting her for whatever reason. Sunny remained leaning back against the pool table staring up at Shade calmly.
“This place is where Sunny works. This place is where my job is. I bartend here. Sort of like..” The woman pursed her lips as she looked up at the ceiling in thought. “How.. Shade hunts, but you probably have a hunting area that’s different from your home. Right?” She cast an uncertain glance back to the digimon, and shrugged her shoulders once more. “This place is kind of like that, my hunting ground?” She hoped that made sense, anyways. She didn’t know much about animals aside from youtube documentaries, so relating to Shade was a little difficult.
“Oh!” exclaimed the woman as she bounced forward off the pool table, raising an index finger for emphasis. “Before we go any farther, I am a human. Not a fleshling. Just like how you are a digimon, not a.. data.. dataling?” Her expression looked confused for a moment at her own made up word, but she shook her head with a chuckle before raising her brows expectantly at Shade.
“..and humans are friends, not food. Right? It would make Claire happy if you had human friends too, wouldn’t it? So if you keep being nice to me, I’ll be your friend.” Sunny’s face eased into a warm smile as she held out her hand for a handshake.
