In all fairness Talia wasn’t ready to go back to the human world post the whole one sided freaky friday esque bit, and yet here she was. “You’ll see! It’ll be helpful.” This time window was a period of serious adjustment for the woman, and Tohru had suggested they begin by returning to her old apartment so she could both connect with the things that were linked with her old self and sort of say a farewell to that phase of her life. “Believe what sis says, she’s good at this grown up kind of stuff,” Simba said as they’d walked along, the dragon feeling rather excited to see his garden once again after so long - Tohru was never a mud digger but she was almost thrilled at that moment that the woman owned a townhouse and not some apartment where a person at a desk would question why a stranger who didn’t seem to live there was entering the building - lets just say she was done for a while climbing on things and sneaking into places. Giving the girl her space, the twins observed as she seemed to wander around for a while with a neutral expression, starting with the kitchen, its stainless steel appliances as shiny and clean as the day they’d been left - in fact most of the house was pretty spotless save for a few of Simba’s toys on the couch, and while the dragon was out wandering his yard, Tohru watched with a quirked eye as the girl found a box and began to put some of her collectibles inside. “Watcha doing with those Talia?” She’d always thought the girl had too many figures, all the better if she was getting rid of them, but why now of all times. “Selling them, they’re better off being turned in for cash.” In actuality it was more so that the collectibles had too many sentimental memories attached to them, so much so that it was to the point of being overwhelming, and cold hard cash luckily had no sentimental value. But yet, there was one she hadn’t shoved in the box, and that was the pink and gold magical girl wand which had been displayed in her cubicle at work for so long - taking it offs engraved display, she waved it around it a bit. “Guh, is that thing going to accidentally turn me into a real bunny or something?” She’d seen enough disney movies to know that was a trend and with how much these things cost, it wouldn’t surprise her if one button could turn the house into a boat. “Aww, do you wanna be a fuzzy bunny Tohru? You’re already so huggable, no need for that wish.” Seeing the smirk on her human’s face which only meant one thing, Talia gulped and started to dash away but was quickly scooped up and snuggled by the human who proceed to pet the top of her head, and for once the rabbit didn’t complain. “F-feels kinda good - I mean, ugh this is so childish.”
And after rounding up (and wiping the mud off) Simba, the trio were off once more to see about doing away with those collectibles at the local used figure and pop culture store, where Talia left the fox and the corgi to their own as she talked business with the man at the counter. “Of course this is a first edition, don’t believe me? I’ve got the certificate! Oh wait I lost it...ugh fine.” While browsing, Simba couldn’t help but notice a customer across the store who appeared to be sitting down in some kind of mobile contraption. “Simba don’t stare, thats rude.” Embarrassed, the corgi tried to pull her all too curious brother away. “What’s that thing?” He’d never seen a human in one before hence the interest. “Just a thing for humans who can’t use their legs to move around, c’mon.”

Juliet was having a bit of an odd day. Her fridge was running low, as well as her little snack cabinet was nearly empty. That itself would already have been a bit of trouble, but her laundry detergent just seemed to be out as well. To top it all off, her paints were starting to run low. Procrastinating on her errands was one thing, but not being able to do her hobby was something else entirely. She could survive on just sandwiches for a while if need be, but she would go stir crazy if her green paint was empty. A few of the other colors, maybe she could last without for a while, but green was in every single one of her pictures.
With a sigh, Juliet slipped on her gloves and carefully wheeled herself out the front door. Traversing Tokyo on her own was always frustrating, but it was better than being pushed around and pitied. Sure, it was nice every once in a while, but all the time just made her feel like she couldn't do anything herself. Regardless, the elevator ride down the ground floor was uneventful, as was her trip out of the building and towards downtown.
It wasn't long before she immediately got sidetracked. As expected, whenever she made so few trips out and about, she tended to stop at every little place that suited her fancy. And currently, her attention was stolen away by a cute little second-hand store for figurines and other sorts of pop culture icons. Curious, Juliet wheeled herself inside right away and began to explore. Anime itself was just another form of art, drawings given life in a way that she had to admire. Besides, perhaps looking into getting a few freelance jobs making some concept art for an anime would pay well. It was a thought to consider as she perused the hundreds of little figurines dotting the shelves.
The store was interesting, she had to admit. There was this one specific little figurine she was quite taken with, a small little girl in a cute pose, but she had no idea what it was even from. She could barely read the heavily stylized logo. With a sigh, she continued to look around for just a bit more when she spotted something a bit out of the ordinary. A cute little corgi was inside the store as well, presumably with the young woman nearby. However, more importantly, there was also a fox with them. Her eyes widened immediately. Was it domesticated? Why was it in here to begin with? Curious, and definitely eager to ask if she could pet them both, she slowly wheeled her way over towards them.
Of course, the young woman seemed to be busy arguing with the store owner. From context clues, she could only assume that things weren't exactly going her way. It wasn't exactly like she could help that much either, simply just waiting for a chance to speak to her. Reaching out and petting someone's pet without permission was definitely not acceptable. Still, she didn't deny herself the opportunity to lean forwards a little bit, waving at the two animals with a smile on her face. On instinct, she spoke in English. "So cute, oh wow."

“She’s spotted us, we do we do?” The fox began to panic a bit, flailing his tail. “Act natural,” Tohru reassured him, reminding her brother it was normal for humans to want to pet small furry things. “She’s coming over, what do we do?!” Apparently it had been a while since the disguised dragon had interacted with anyone in the human world and seemed to become rusty. “Just let them pet you, they’ll stop eventually, and don’t talk, remembers animals don’t talk, watch me.” Tohru had seen enough movies to know exactly how to act like a normal dog, and when Juliet approached, she panted and wagged her tail-less behind, padding up to the human to allow her to stroke the top of her head. Soon enough, Simba followed his sister’s pattern and swung his bushy tail back and forth whilst approaching. Eventually Talia grew impatient with the argument and went with the shop clerk’s offer, counting the yen before placing in her, making sure she hadn’t gotten gipped. And with that done, she went to collect the twins but found they had already charmed another customer in the store, making her smile a bit. “Aren’t they? Sorry, they tend to be overly friendly sometimes, you’re not allergic or anything are you?” You never knew really if it was that or someone just disliked animals. “This is Simba, and this is Tohru by the way, my pets, and I’m Talia...I used to shop here a lot but then I moved so I don’t come as often as I used to, I’ve never seen you - wait you speak english, are you American too?!” She’d been so wrapped up in talking that she hadn’t realized the woman wasn’t speaking Japanese till halfway into the blabbering, and Talia had now lived here long enough to be able to somewhat easily switch code between English and Japanese. The twins looked up at the humans hearing the english, something they understood but didn’t hear very often hence the pause, the two of them perking their ears up, trying to look subtle like curious animals but not as if they understood in a human ish way. “Are you into Otaku stuff as well?” Not that she would ever reveal her cosplaying secret to anyone of course, that was way too embarrassing, but having another friend to drag to see Moon Stars was never a bad thing right? She had originally planned to wait until the owner of the animals said it was okay to pet them, but when they suddenly bounded over towards her she simply couldn't resist. She reached down, gently rubbing the head of the corgi with a wide smile on her face. How utterly adorable. She was just about to attempt to pet the strange fox when suddenly the owner was already walking over towards them. Juliet quickly sat upright in her wheelchair, smiling softly. Hopefully, they wouldn't be too upset about randomly petting.
It seemed like she was the one apologizing, actually. Apparently, they were overly friendly. Juliet just quickly shook her head in response, reaching down to pet the corgi once more. "No, no no. I'm not allergic at all." She responded in Japanese, only to suddenly pause as she continued to speak. Simba and Tohru? What cute names. The switch to English was pleasantly surprising. She had heard English here and there during her time in Japan, but knowing someone else probably spoke it fluently was always a lovely surprise to her day.
"I'm uh, actually Scottish!" She replied eagerly in her native language, sitting up all the way in her chair and turned to face her a little bit more directly. "Born and raised in Scotland, and I moved here a few months ago, actually." Now that she was actually speaking more, the accent in her English was pretty noticeable. It wasn't a very strong accent, but still obvious enough.
At the question about Otaku stuff, Juliet seemed to falter a little bit, unsure how to respond. "Well, I uh... I like Anime? The art styles are always really impressive." With a smile on her face, she actually decided to show off just a little bit. Perhaps this stranger would even be impressed. "You know, I'm actually a freelance artist. I've uh, worked on a few animes here and there. Mostly making character reference sheets and concept art. But I'm not uh, an extreme fan of the Otaku stuff. It's all still new to me. All of Japan is new to me, honestly."

“Good, glad to hear it.” Not that they would give anyone a reaction at all because of their holosuits but people could sometimes be funny about animals approaching them, plus they had no idea about holosuits. “I know some people can’t stand animals, my grandma had a friend who was terrified of dogs!” Having been a pet person all her life, Talia couldn’t fathom how someone could fear a friendly cute faced pup but then again there was that whole thing about people having different likes and dislikes - in fact, she was sure there were (crazy) people out there who found clowns adorable and fun, a group which definitely did not include herself. “I’ve never been to Scotland but I’ve always wanted to go to the United Kingdom - one day I’ll make it there for sure! Basically, I moved here to study abroad and got an internship that turned into a permanent fixture.” And a permanent fixture that gave her the necessary skills for what had recently and unexpectedly become her main job. “An artist! That must be fun, I’m a computer programmer myself.” It was almost ironic how programmers could make an artists creations come to life with digital magic, but they usually weren’t exactly right brained when it came to drawing and such. “Aren’t they? I give a lot of credit to you guys, I would never have the patience to sit down and sculpt out something so specific - in programming everything has its own input and output and really you’re just following the language of coding. I am a pretty good cook however according to some, that’s about the closest I’d say I get to creative.” She wondered if the woman had ever done art for her old company and pondered asking, but at the same time wondered if it was smart to give her name what with the whole body switch since for all she knew this girl could have put her old face to her name at some point in the past. “I sympathize, I’ve been here for a year and find myself still getting used to some things, but it definitely does get easier. Welcome to Japan by the way!”

"Oh goodness. Scared of dogs? Perish the thought." She laughed softly, smiling down at the animals before her once more. She was still confused about the fox, but honestly, that was probably one of the less weird things she had seen since her arrival in Japan. Shrugging a bit to herself, she looked back up at Talia."Oh, the United Kingdom is a wonderful place, honestly. It still feels like home, but I'm getting used to living here faster than I expected." Primarily, because she had to rely on herself and nobody else to figure stuff out. It was almost refreshing in spite of how stressful it could get.
A computer programmer? That must be a rather fun job. Juliet did make some concept art and character sketches for video game companies before, mostly anime girls and boys and the like, but at the very least she had some kind of experience with the concept. After Talia had finished speaking, Juliet finally began to speak about her favorite type of art. "I'm actually uh, a painter of sorts. I have canvases lining my room, actually... Oh!" She suddenly blinked, a thought popping into her head.
"I never told you my name! I'm sorry, I should have realized that after you told me yours, Talia." She cleared her throat, a soft blush spreading across her face from the slight social awkwardness. "My name is Juliet. It's a real pleasure to meet you." Admittedly, it was a huge change. If she could somehow make a friend who spoke English in Japan, that would honestly change everything. Maybe they could even hang out at some point? Already, Juliet was getting way too ahead of herself. It was painfully obvious that she was quite lonely.
After a moment of silence, Juliet finally spoke up, her curiosity getting the better of her. "So... Uh, how did you uh, get such a domesticated fox? They look so calm just waiting there for you. It's adorable, honestly."

“Haha yeah, Japan will do that to you. It’s its own thing kind of I guess - actually before I lived here I didn’t know how different the eastern and western cultures. I mean, I knew about the shoes thing and that some of the food can be uhh slimy and how to ask where the bathroom was, but aside from that it was all a matter of adaptation.” Luckily, eating the things that were slimy and still half alive was optional. “Nice to meet you, Juliet!” The blonde said, extending a hand out for her to shake. She probably should have bowed instead, but evidently being stuck in the digital world had made her a bit rusty when it came to manners. Talia laughed. “That’s funny because a friend actually asked me once how a fox and a dog who's breed is known for chasing wild animals can live together, but basically these two were raised together by...someone at my old job who was a pet foster parent and...someone had apparently dropped them off at an animal shelter, no owner, no name or anything, just these two who seemed inseparable, and I lived alone so I figured why not, it would have been nice to have someone to come to home to.” Mentioning the friend made her think of Miyu and Bloom and wonder how the girl and plant digimon duo were doing since she hadn’t seen them for a while and wondered if there would be a good time to catch up with them soon whether they were in the digital world or human world. “They’re well trained sometimes..they’re particularly fond of pork cutlets, I tried to get them to eat fish once but...to say it failed is an understatement, sometimes they’re as picky as children!” As the white haired woman babbled on, she felt a tug at her ankle and looked down to see the duo glancing up at her, with Tohru poking at her ankle and barking a bit and the womans eyes fell to where they were looking, and in horror, she watched her as her arm almost seemed to briefly disappear, glitching in random places before it turned back to normal, and while the woman had no idea what it was, instinct told her it was only going to get worse if she stayed here. "Hey it was really nice meeting you but I just remembered I have somewhere to be, maybe I'll see you here again soon!" It was probably rude to not at least ask for the girls number but all the hacker could think of at the moment was getting back to the digital world as the twins abruptly followed her out of the store. Juliet was admittedly a bit surprised to see Talia didn't realize how different the cultures were. Even from one country to the next back home was immensely different, but then again Europe was much closer together than America. Asia was a bit of a major change, but Juliet liked to think she adjusted rather decently asides from the language still giving her problems. As Talia reached out a hand, Juliet eagerly reached out to shake it in return. It was nice to embrace a few customs from home now and then.
She couldn't help but remain impossibly curious about her animals. Two animals who nature would normally make them fight, but here they were as calm as can be. Almost just sitting here patiently while watching them talking, not getting into any trouble at all. Wherever they came from, someone had definitely trained them rather well. Or did Talia train them instead? Either way, she supposed it didn't matter. She chuckled softly, finally speaking up. "Oh, I can imagine. My little siblings back home were nightmares when it came to dinner time. I can only imagine how picky pets could... be..."
Suddenly, the dog finally barked and completely interrupted her train of thought. Juliet's arm... It was fading in an out of existence. If Juliet didn't know any better, she might even suggest it was glitching out of reality. But that was impossible! There were no words to explain Juliet's confusion. Talia quickly began to try and say goodbye and even ran out of the store the moment afterward. "H-hey, wait!" She yelled out loud as she quickly attempted to follow behind. Just what in the world was going on? Was she in need of medical help?
"T-Talia, what happened?!" She would yell in English the moment she finally wheeled herself out of the building, her eyes wide with worry and curiosity. What was that? She couldn't even trust her eyes over what happened. "Where are you?"

Talia ran so quickly that she barely had enough of a reaction time to avoid the people on the streets of the city like a furious human vehicle weaving in and out of traffic, the pup and fox following behind her diligently, sensing how scared and worried she was, the both of them wishing there was something they could do at the moment, despite that they had no idea what was going on with her form themselves. “Does this mean I’m...completely data now?” She said to the rabbit while preparing to port into the digital world, her tone sounding more like the woman was thinking out loud. “Not necessarily - I’m no doctor but it might just be that you haven’t adjusted to the setting of the human world yet!”She hadn’t expected that Juliet would follow them nor that she would ever catch on that something was wrong, but the scottish woman was much sharper and smarter than Talia was giving her credit for, and as a result, she made no precautions to hide from her. “ I feel like that’s your excuse for everything.”Ah well, at least it was good bedside manner? “And also somewhat like I’m...back home now?” The human world had become so seemingly foreign to her now, and she wasn’t sure whether to accept or be frustrated by such a fact. She was definitely frustrated as a hole at that time, which was why she sat down and hugged the now un-disguised dragon and bunny, her slight tears staining Tohrus fur with wet spots. She also had forgotten that the created port would briefly linger after they entered, staying just enough for one more nearby person to jump inside. “Well, as long as I have you two, I’ll always be alright I guess!”

Juliet didn't think she had ever been more lost in her entire life. She went out to get nothing more than groceries and somehow stumbled upon another foreigner, only to see her entire arm seem to literally glitch out of existence. It was like something out of a movie, completely unrealistic... and yet it happened right before her eyes like it was the most real thing she had ever seen. Being quite honest with herself, she couldn't even believe it. It made absolutely no sense. How would something like that even happen in the first place?
It took a good bit of time to follow her through the crowd as the woman barreled out across the streets almost as if her very life depended on it. Maybe it did? Juliet honestly had no idea, but she couldn't just sit there in the store when someone was hurting, regardless of the cause. She was quite a ways behind, having to actually make it to a street crossing before even being able to follow after her.
Eventually, Juliet had finally located where she should be, except Talia was just gone completely. There was no one, not even her animals, it was almost as if she had vanished into thin air. That was, however, when Juliet finally noticed it. The portal between worlds simply hanging there in the air, lazily as if it seemed to fade in out of reality around the edges as if it simply wasn't supposed to exist. However, there was no way to deny what she was seeing. First her arm, and now this rift in space that seemed to lead to an entirely different land... and Talia was on the other side!
Without thinking for a moment, Juliet's protective instinct kicked into gear as she suddenly pushed herself forwards and wheeled straight through the rift and to the other side. She expected it to feel strange at least in some way or another, but it just felt as easy as moving from one room to another. However, much to Juliet's own worry, the rift closed right behind her the very moment she was finally through.
Her eyes opened wide, staring back at where she came from to no longer see Japan at all. Looking forward, however, she noticed Talia was sitting down and hugging two strange creatures. A massive bunny with three horns atop its head as well as what she could only describe as a literal dragon sat in her arms as she cried. Juliet suddenly felt like she was somewhere she didn't belong, a place that didn't make sense, like she was invading something personal and it made absolutely no sense.
She barely had any idea where she was, what had happened to her arm, what the deal was with that portal, or where in the world these two creatures came from and her pets vanished to, but none of that mattered at the moment. Talia was crying and that simply wasn't good. She seemed like such a good person, potentially even a good friend, and she hated seeing good friends so sad. Reaching into her purse, she slowly grabbed a few tissues and carefully rolled closer.
"D-do you uh, need this?"

The sound of Juliet’s voice nearly made the woman jump, having not really expected to hear here after all, assuming that crossing the digi-port made her ‘safe’ if that made sense. “T-thanks! It would help wouldn’t it?” She took the tissue before she mentally processed that this was indeed, the girl from the secondhand store and jumped in surprise yet again. “Wait a second, you’re a tamer too?! Or do you have a spirit?” It was the only thing that would have explained how she got here as far as Talia was concerned, who’d been away from the human world for such a while that she’d forgotten the whole thing about digi-ports lingering. Tohru however, had not. “Hate to break it to ya, but I think she just followed us.” The rabbit matter of factly explained as she stood in front of the woman waving. “Greetings! In the human world, I wear a holosuit of a common dog so I can blend in - basically, my human has thrown what I’m sure is confusing nomenclature at you while forgetting to mention that by passing that portal you are no longer on the earth plane of humans - in other words, welcome to the digital world.” Once her face was dry, Talia stood up and scooped the twins into her arms to the delight of Simba and chargrim of Tohru as usual. “Sorry you had to see me like that, I’m not usually someone who cries but recently I went through a...big change I’m still getting used to if that makes sense - hence the flickering arm. I wish I could explain more but even I’m not quite sure what to make of it completely yet.” She shrugged. “But while you’re here, would you like me - us, to show you around a bit?” Wiggling out of his humans arms, Simba jumped down and sat in front of the girl. “I’m super curious, what does that thing you’re sitting in do? My sister says its for humans who can’t use their legs.” He turned his head to the side with a curious expression. “Humans are surprisingly inventive aren’t they!”At first Talia was a bit embarrassed by Simba’s outward curiosity (but not nearly as much as Tohru seemed to be at that moment) but it found it adorable at the same time and somewhat adoring to see he had such a healthy curiosity for this sort of thing.
