"Wake up we're late!"
Edens' head shot up from her keyboard, her hands pressing down against the keys waking the laptop from its slumber as the screen came to life, blinding her with the bright contrast in the darkened room. She sat stunned for a moment, sure that she just heard a child-like voice in her head yelling about her being late. It was Saturday night and she didn't work again until Monday, yet her lungs begged for air as her chest heaved up and down from the sudden shock. She sighed heavily as she brushed the short blonde strands of her from her face as her blurred vision stared blankly at her half-typed essay, blinking several times as she adjusted to the bright contrast in the dark room. "Damn, what time is it?" She turned her body slightly from left to right as she yawned and stretched her arms out over her head, slowly kicking away from her desk as her chair rolled over the old wooden floor and over to her small speaker setup which was still playing a bit of rock at a low volume.
Two missed calls and three texts from mom, she wouldn't hear the end of this. Not only did her parents hate the sketchy neighborhood her apartment was located in but her father's health hadn't been the best these last few months so missing calls always made her worry a bit and vice versa. Pressing her thumb on the touchpad she unlocked her phone and immediately returned the call, only to be met with her mother's voicemail. So she decided to check the text instead.
6:29- Mom: Izzy, Meet me at Shibuya Train Terminal.
7:14- Mom: It's really important, I need you to meet me there as soon as possible.
7:37- Mom: Eden Isabella Walker, answer me right this minute!
"Yikes, full name." She shuddered a bit as she checked the time on her phone, it had just hit ten til' eight so maybe she was still there, and what was so important that it couldn't wait until morning? Instead of questioning it she simply rose from her chair and went to the bathroom to wash any remains of sleep from her face. The water ran for a bit as it began to slowly grow warmer with each passing minute until the steam began emerging from it and lightly fogging the bottom of her mirror. She soaked her towel for a bit before bringing it up and against her face, the warm sensation bringing her back to reality as she looked up in the mirror only to be met with a small brunette face adorned with purple markings and two wings on the top of its head. "Holy shi-" she jumped back, rubbing her eyes and blinking again for a minute before looking back, only to be met with her reflection.
"I need a vacation," she sighed heavily before turning off the faucet and heading back into her bedroom, grabbing her track jacket from the back of her chair and throwing it on before grabbing her phone and shoulder bag in case she ended up actually having to go somewhere with her mom tonight. Eden unlocked her phone again before disconnecting the Bluetooth from her speakers and sent a text to her mom that would hopefully decrease the odds of her getting a lecture on her communication skills.
7:55- Eden: Hey, Sorry I fell asleep typing an essay on my way now. Is everything okay?
Message failed. The tall blonde raised an eyebrow in confusion, connection errors were rare even for a dump like this, in fact it was the first thing she tested once she found out about the place so for it to happen now was either bad luck on her end or cruel fate for her blowing off her mother all those times in the past, she hoped for the former as she hit retry yet again. Message failed, "What the hell?" she shook it off as she tossed her phone into her bag, which was met with a rather audible landing- and not one from the various boxes of pocky she carried. Fishing around in her bag, Eden pulled out a rather odd device it looked like some cheap handheld toy; the black grip was cold to the touch, and its violet body was pretty worn and scratched up, she tried pressing on a few of the silver buttons but nothing came of it. "...Probably got mixed up on the train." She muttered softly before tossing it back in her bag in exchange for a piece of gum as she made her way towards the small living room/kitchen, once she was at the door she slid on her old running shoes and made her way out the door, locking it behind her as she rushed down the steps and out the front door into the cold evening that awaited.
