Sophie froze as Leith replied to her with surprising firmness. It wasn't in anger, but, Sophie wasn't used to being spoken to like this. Why would she be? Colin was four years younger than her and if she said something he'd rarely speak back. The only people who had talked to her like this were her parents and her teachers, and this made her take notice.
Lantis and Enkidu in the meantime stopped walking, realizing that this was too important to brush by. The three of them listened to what Leith had to say, since there was clearly a lot on his mind that he wanted to release. And they did so patiently, in silence.
So far in Leith's adventures, it seemed he had so far defeated a rogue Elecmon, helped destroy a Control Spire, and mentioned being a "hero" with Adrian. This actually made Lantis scared.
"Y... you were involved with that airship?" the GrapLeomon asked, horrified. At once he felt shame that he hadn't helped there, and that it had put Leith and his partners in such mortal peril.
And then Leith said that he felt his musical interests were just "a little pet project" in comparison, looking so hurt at saying that and pretty much breaking his finger as he punched a stump in fury. Lantis by now was tearing up as he saw Leith like this. He didn't know he was holding all this down. He felt ashamed that he hadn't thought to realize just how much his boyfriend was hurting about this.
Leith said that he thought that his music didn't mean anything in the real sense. "It... makes people happy..." Lantis said, weakly, but found he could say little else.
Then Leith said that he couldn't possibly compete with them, or Colin. Sophie found she was speechless with this. What he was saying was true. Her brother Colin was probably one of the luckiest humans to have ever been chosen. Not one partner, but two. Every challenge he met, he overcame. And now, he stood as one of the strongest tamers alive.
Then Leith ran at Lantis, who was knocked back a step, but was able to remain standing from his force. He returned his hug gently, kneeling down so they were of the same height. Lantis really didn't know what to say for a few moments. From what he could understand, Leith felt inadequate, weak, ineffectual, not worthy.
But that was not true.
"Leith..." Lantis said, in a quiet but firm voice. "Don't you ever say that you're nothing ever again. That is a lie. I would have never accepted you as my boyfriend if that was true. But I did, because when I see you, I feel warmth and acceptance. When I hear you sing, I feel inspiration and envigoration..."
Tears rolled out of Lantis's eyes as he spoke further. "I... I get what it feels like to be so conflicted, you know? I mean... I'm bonded to Sophie as my tamer, but, still, I love you too. Yet... the feelings for both of you are different. I see Sophie as my guide, the leader I would follow to the end... and you, I see as my companion, probably the only one in both our worlds I would trust to share my emotions with..."
Sophie was stunned with this revelation. This was heavy stuff. But, she recognized that this wasn't Lantis admitting that he'd rather be with Leith than her. It was a simple admission of how he felt about the both of them.
For quite a few minutes after the end of the conversation, Sophie didn't know what to say. So many words rushed through her head, none of them sounded like they would be of any use. In the end though, she supposed all she could do was provide acknowledgement.
"That sounded like you had that weighing on you for a while, Leith." she said in the end. "Thank you for sharing it though. I'm glad that you let us know about it now instead of later. And... I'd just like you to know, I understand. That's why I came to the digital world in the first place. I started up AEGIS to protect Earth from external threats, and when crunch time came, Lan and I were powerless. We had no digimental, no cards, nothing, all we could do was watch as hostile digimon raised a control spire in front of our noses and we couldn't do a fucking thing..."
Lantis and Enkidu gasped a little, they had never heard Sophie swear in front of others before.
"That's why we want to find ways to better ourselves. That's why we're here. There's innocents ahead that have control of their bodies taken away from them. I want to stop that, Lan does too. And if Lan trusts in you enough to share his love with you, then I trust in you to help us here. I believe in you, Leith."
Before they proceeded further, Sophie offered her hand to Leith, hoping to shake on it. That they could approach this challenge as a unified team, able to trust in each other and see this through to the end, removing whatever scourge laid upon the path ahead.

Was there any point in observing that what ever happiness HT brought people was painfully ephemeral? Leith didn't think so. Besides being painful enough for him to think about, it wasn't really the big point of his whole episode. Lan seemed to already get that, and damnit, he just had to find the right words to say, didn't he? Why couldn't he just vindicate Leith's fear and anger? Why'd he have to be so damn chivalrous and kind? As nice as it was that Lan somehow knew exactly what to say to make Leith feel better, it just made him feel worse for thinking like he did. "...Come on, Lan. Why do you gotta get sappy? I'm not good at it." The young man did reach out and start wiping Lantis' face dry with his own thumb for a moment before switching to use the collar of his own shirt instead. "Whatever the heck it is I did to earn that place with you, don't let me stop doing it. I-" Wet as Leith's shirt now was, he had to use it for himself, too. "-Sometimes I really need a 'rock' like you always seem to be. Least somethin' good came out of this mess."
Leith didn't know Sophie well enough to be shocked by her profanity, nor was he bothered by profanity itself enough for it either. What did get to him was just how much this girl, one of the James family so far ahead in Leith's eyes, claimed to relate. She had a good claim on it, too, more shockingly. Of course, he was unconcerned about a control spire in the real world, thinking it was an event long past. Boy, was he sure in for a rude awakening. "...Alright, let's just- let's do what we gotta do and feel however we feel later." The young man ran his fingers through his hair to get it out of his face. "We'll do this you guys' way: little belief in ourselves, little belief in each other, something, something, and they all lived happily ever after." Sophie's offered handshake was taken and reciprocated with the right hand, the one not holding a digivice.
Flamedramon and Shoutmon could only exchange concerned looks.

Lantis by now knew that there was so many things about Leith that he didn't know, and he accepted that. He knew most of those things were things that probably hurt Leith, and as a digimon conditioned to heal, it was frustrating that he couldn't fix all the problems in his boyfriend's life as easily as he could heal wounds. But, taking a deep breath, he remembered this was something he had signed up for when he accepted Leith as his boyfriend. As much as he wanted to be Leith's knight in shining armor, he knew that he couldn't end all of his problems so simply.
Leith then mentioned one thing that Lantis could contribute that was within his power, however, to be his support. Lantis understood at once, that was something he could be with no problems. "Of course! If you ever need my support, I'll be there."
Sophie needed a few moments to fully comprehend this. She was at least relaxed by the point that this situation wasn't unique to her. Even if her brother Colin had 2 partners, both of them also had lovers that they would attend to. Bellamy had Coronamon, Luke had Flamedramon, this was simply something she would have to also deal with.
After it all seemed to be sorted out, the group entered the village. Most unfortunately, they were approached by two digimon at once, from different directions. A Gizamon and a Betamon. Lantis wasn't able to target both in his healing. So his action was to heal the Gizamon from their corruption while at the same time shouting "Sophie! We need to retreat! This is too risky...!"
Sophie was about to do so, but, she remembered something from the reports of the corruption missions that others she knew had participated in. The corruption could be thwarted by digivices. And... given that she also had a digivice, she would make a somewhat risky attempt to try something out. She pulled her digivice from her pocket, then raised it at the Betamon as he was closing in to strike. The digivice shone, and the demonic expression on the Betamon's face faded.
"W-what's... happening?" he asked. The Gizamon asked the same as he was healed by Lantis. It wasn't long before the answer was obvious to them.
"Lan can heal the corruption... and our digivices can too." Sophie concluded. However, as the light of her digivice faded, she found herself somewhat short of breath for a few moments, as though she had just jogged around a city block. It seemed that this function of the digivice took energy from her personally. But... the main thing was, it was effective. The Betamon seemed fully cured from whatever strange condition he had suffered.
From here, the way forward seemed evident. Lan's healing powers and their digivices could remove the effects of the corruption. But... the question remained, could they heal the entire village from its effects? If she was honest, Sophie would rather see if she could do that, the thought of so many innocent digimon being without control of their own bodies was horrifying, if she could remedy that, then it would be a good thing in her books.
But even then, it was unlikely that she and Lan would be able to do so alone. With that, she turned to Leith. "Sorry to put you on the spot like this, but, you have a digivice like mine." she stated. "Leith, do you think you'd be able to help the digimon of this place as well?"
She understood of course that Leith was in something of a vulnerable state of mind here, and would not think any less of him if he declined.

Leith just dumbly shook his head and stuttered, "Uh- what?" in answer to Sophie's question. It wasn't that he didn't understand it; he was just floored by what Sophie had just achieved. He didn't get too much time to gawk in awe, though. "Ow!"
"We're Oscar Mike, dumbass!" was Shoutmon's tactless reminder for getting Leith's head in the game, which he delivered after stomping on the young man's foot hard as he could. Angry as he obviously was, he also did a good thing doing something the young man couldn't ignore. That freed the little red digimon up to take a good hard swing under the chin of a Gabumon who was charging horn-first, swinging upwards almost like a golf stroke. The young man watched the false wolf continue to slide forward thanks to the momentum he already had, only he was on his back and no threat to anyone. That gave Leith the time to jump back, which was just as well because Flamedramon had picked up and tossed a Gotsumon right on top of the belly of the the Gabumon. "Ho, that looks painful!"
"Leith, now!" Flamedramon called to his Tamer. "Uh- yeah! I got it!" Leith had to pull good and hard to rip his black D-3 off its cradle, but once he managed it he pointed it at the pair of digimon. "Hey, which button did you-?" The young man's question was proven moot as a beam of light shone on both digimon for several seconds. "Nevermind! I got it!" As the beam receded, the digimon on its business end quit rushing to get up and instead decided that just staying on the ground and being sore was the more appealing option. "I think it worked!" was the last thing he said before bending over with his hands on his knees, suddenly feeling fatigued despite limited physical exertion.
Glancing at Sophie, he noticed similar symptoms in her, only a little milder. Of course, that made sense to Leith; besides the fact that he was allergic to exercise, he also did two digimon instead of one, seeing as neither of his digimon had healing abilities in those forms. "Yeah, yep, definitely worked," he repeated with a little less optimism. "It sucks, but it's working."

When it turned out that Leith was able to heal the corrupted digimon as well as they could, both Sophie and Lantis beamed at him and his partners with admiration. The task ahead was clear to them. Eliminate the corruption as best they could, even if it took a lot of their energy to do so. But they couldn't sacrifice themselves to do so.
"If any of us get close to fainting, we'll retreat." Sophie stated. "Enkidu, I'm relying on you to help us out with that."
"...that's honestly a lot to ask, Sophie, but... I'll do my best." Enkidu promised. The BlackGaomon was a little worried here. If Sophie, Lantis and Leith fell here from exhaustion, he didn't really know how he could get them out of here.
Soon though, the acts of healing of corruption became something of a repetitive exercise for them, so Sophie and Lantis soon fell into a rhythm. As they moved further into the village, the digimon that they healed began to realize that their salvation had come at last. And to thank them, they did what they could to repay them.
"Thank you for healing us!" a Floramon they had healed exclaimed as she approached, holding a tea tray. "Please drink this. It's a healing tea that can restore your energy!"
She poured cups for them. Enkidu tried a cup first in case it was a trap, but he confirmed its healing properties when he felt some fatigue fade away. Sophie and Lantis drank a cup, and felt themselves restored a little.
"Thanks very much, ma'am." Sophie replied to the Floramon after the drink. "Hopefully we'll be able to heal the village in one go now."
Alas, it was exhausting. Lantis took the brunt of it. In his mega form, the corruption withered and disappeared wherever he sent his healing ability, but, it was an exertion each time. Sophie merely cleaned up the corners as they passed, eradicating clouds of corruption as she passed. She stumbled a little occasionally from her fatigue, but the importance of this task... she refused to falter.
For so long, she had presumed to hold a rightful place in the power hiearchy of the digital world, but in this moment, she knew she still had to earn it. And knowing what her brother did here, she knew she had a long way to go to be seen as worthy as he was. And she saw this as her task in doing so.
Eventually, the last corners of the corrupted village still had to be cleansed, yet, after she, Lantis and Leith had done so much already, Sophie could barely walk. She fell to her knees before she could approach the last bastions of the vile corruption. But the digimon wished for them to continue.
"Please! You've gone so far already! If you get rid of these last remnants, we'll be safe again!" the Floramon from earlier begged.
"The corruption will return if you fall here..." a Monodramon said, urgently. "There's just two houses left... please! Try your best!"
Lantis by now was panting, at the very end of the energy he could hold in this form. With that, he de-digivolved all the way back to Spadamon. Not by necessity, but by choice. He knew Sophie had to spend some of her own energy to hold him in his Leomon form. So by doing this, he indicated that he was throwing all of his reserve energy to his partner.
"Enkidu, help me hold Sophie up." he told the BlackGaomon, who complied. Then, he turned to his boyfriend. "Leith... we've just got these last two places left. We'll take the left, you can take the right. If we manage this, we'll have saved the village. I trust in my partner and I trust in you and your partners. If we do this, we'll finally become heroes like digidestined are meant to be!"
These words... Sophie agreed with them with a weak smile. But they still had to act before they would be true.

"We're gonna talk about that whole 'little pet project' thing, right?"
"This isn't the best time, Shoutmon!" That exchange happened while each digimon as attempting to pin a hostile villager long enough to be cleansed of corruption.
"When? 'Cause now I got some anger to work out!" the red drake seethed.
"Aren't you the one who yelled at me to focus?" was how Leith both tried to settle Shoutmon down and change the subject. Of course, he had to shout that through panting by this point.
"Unlike some people, I can-" Shoutmon's final word came at the same time he looked behind himself to jab the blunt base of his mic into an attacker's someone's stomach. "-multitask!"
The group worked out a rhythm eventually. Leith tried to keep a real tight formation with Sophie, and his digimon found themselves flanking him and intercepting all the threats they could. Flamedramon did most of the heavy lifting between the two at his higher level, but Shoutmon knocked back what ever got past him either through cleverness, ability, or just numbers. Keeping them from Leith helped him do his job in relative safety.
OK, not so bad, Leith mused to himself while cleansing one digimon after another. OK, not so bad. Long as these guys keep- "Aaagh! Mother-!" A Labramon had slipped under the two-line defense and sunk its teeth into his thigh. Acting on instinct, Leith attempted to use his free hand as a fist club to beat the Labramon on the head until it let go. However, between the fact that it was his non-dominant hand and his general physical weakness, not to mention the brainjacked state of the digimon, the Labramon was not budging. It took him several seconds to think to just remove the corruption instead, and in that time his digimon couldn't come to his aid, otherwise occupied.
The poor digimon knew what they had done soon as their mind was rescued, at which point they just whimpered apologetically and fled. To save time the boy yelled out, "I can still walk! Get me later!" because, even though it was painful, the injury did not seem to impact his mobility (not to mention he didn't much want to look down and look at the no doubt very ugly bite). All was not well, however. The young man knew he panicked in his response, reinforcing his self-image of being unfit for these things. But he was also shaken by the fact that his partners didn't stop it.
It only makes sense. It just doesn't matter how good you think you are. Throw yourself into danger a million times, and it'll get to you at least once. Mother trucker, that hurts!
Like Lantis, Flamedramon didn't have a chance of holding his form through the struggle's end. Maybe he was using a lower one, but he'd done a fair amount of digivolution that day, already. He had no energy left to give to Leith when he devolved. The young man himself wasn't in much better shape; while Sophie was on her knees, he was on his back. God, he wanted to just stay down, but the moral imperative he responded to just wasn't gone. Therefore, he just couldn't stay down. "Alright. Right. We got it." Leith held a hand toward Shoutmon, a nonverbal request for help up. The red digimon was still upright, but he only glanced at the hand and turned away from it.
Leith had to roll onto his front and use several seconds to get his feet under him again. "Alright. See if I can make something of myself for once, eh?" The young man shuffled to lean on the door frame. "You, then me, Shout?" Shoutmon didn't answer but did line up to the door with obvious reluctance. "What, am I getting the silent treatment now?" Shoutmon didn't even look at him. "Fine. Just breach on 'three.'" So nothing inside could hear the signal, he used his hand to count up instead. One, two, three.

When Leith was bitten, Lantis turned his head and gasped, almost rushing to his aid, but when Leith told him that he could still walk, Sophie held his arm.
"He's alright, Lan, we can help him later..." she said. They had to complete their task and fully remove the corruption. Only if Leith had been critically injured would they have been forced to intervene. But Floramon tried instead, rushing toward Leith, offering him some of her healing tea to help him.
"Please, we need you to stay healthy!" she told him.
Then came the final corners of the village to cleanse. All Sophie had left was her own power, but she felt she had the strength in her to do so. "Just one more time. Just a little bit, then it'll all be over..." she reassured herself.
Held up by Lantis and Enkidu, Sophie opened the door of her chosen building. The corruption inside was thick and almost intoxicating. She looked inside, about to raise her digivice to cleanse it, but Lantis yelled, telling her to get down, drawing his sword and removing his support from her side. Sophie collapsed in surprise, but in doing so, she avoided being slashed at by a nasty blade.
She looked up, and to her horror, there was a Musyamon inside the building. A champion level. Stronger than both Lantis and Enkidu. And it seemed to be the one of the last sources of the corruption. The Musyamon glared and advanced, seeming to ready a blow that would finish Sophie off, but Lantis interposed himself in front of her. Even as a Spadamon, he still conducted himself fiercely.
"Enkidu, get her to safety!" he ordered. Musyamon brought down his weapon hard. Lantis blocked with his own sword, but it was clearly futile, he was thrown back several feet. Enkidu quickly realized the seriousness of this situation. Sophie was exhausted, Lantis was outmatched. What could he do? Well, for a start, he could digivolve.
And he did so. Focusing inward, Enkidu quickly grew in size, his body shape transforming. His boxing gloves disappeared and were replaced by claws. Long red hair grew from the back of his head. He had evolved to his champion form, BlackFilmon.
In this form, Enkidu could better move Sophie, helping her out of harm's way. Then, before Musyamon could strike Lantis, Enkidu took the point of the battle, striking back with his claws, drawing some energy from the cursed digimon, but not enough to gain the upper hand.
Enkidu knew what was at stake here. Sophie and Lantis watched his progress. If Lantis couldn't be Sophie's protector here, then he would do his best to fill that part.
Enkidu evolves to BlackFilmon to engage in battle with the Corrupted Musyamon.

Well, as long as a little medicine was right there, the young man wasn't going to turn it down. During what seemed like a break in the fighting, he chugged it like pitcher at a frat party. It helped, if only a little. "Thank you," he mumbled while biting back groans from the stinging.
Back at the pair of houses, both Tamers entered their respective houses but not at the same time. Shoutmon turned the knob - but it wouldn't budge. Shoutmon continued to fiddle with it, maybe push harder in case it was just stuck, but it wouldn't go.
"I'd say we have probable cause. Wouldn't you?"
Shoutmon didn't say that he agreed, but he demonstrated it by backing up a foot taking a couple swings at the portal. One last solid, "Stand Smash!" later the lock was digital dust, letting Shoutmon push the door open easily. Apparently he still felt he had the energy to help Leith clear the house, too, leading the way all over it while Leith followed behind him, the air of them going room-by-room, closet-by-closet in search of any enemy. In the end there was only one bathroom left, but when Shoutmon swatted it open, there was- "-Nothing?" Not that Leith was about to whine. It made a little sense. "Maybe they were just out. Would explain why the door was locked."
Suddenly, Leith's digivice played Veemon's weak voice pleading, "Leith... she needs help." In the blue digimon's weakened state he was able to crawl toward the sound of clashing blades and peer around a corner, but he couldn't do much else. The problem was neither could Shoutmon. He'd gone and decided he was finished, too, slumping against a wall and sinking to the floor, even letting his microphone fall on the ground. He was still conscious but refused to move. "Shout- agh, screw you!" The young man couldn't rely on Shoutmon's second wind if he couldn't even expect him to speak to him. Leith had to limp out of that house and onto the next one all alone with a digivice as his only weapon. He was exhausted and injured, making him slow, but adrenaline by now was pumping. Everything was fast, really, at least in the young man's mind. Only Floramon's tea kept him standing, and only a determination to walk away kept him moving. Maybe some could call it courage, but he knew what it really was: the will to get out alive.
Leith tried not to expose himself as he dropped to his knees and blindly pointed his digivice screen in the general direction he heard the metallic clangs from; he couldn't bring himself to peer in there both to avoid exposing himself and fear he just wouldn't like the sight. He shut his eyes and willed that new power of his to work one last time. But was his aim OK? Heck, did he even get there in time?

Sophie watched in horror as the spectacle showed in front of her. It seemed that their last remaining strength resided in Enkidu. If he fell, then none of them would be able to stand up against the last remaining corrupted menace that was Musyamon.
Enkidu continued to fight as hard as he could. He parried and ducked under the strikes as they came, but when he attempted to counter-attack, he couldn't find any openings. The situation was growing more and more dire.
But, in the end, he was feeling the warmth of something within him. As Leith held his digivice up, Enkidu felt a strange but familiar feeling. That feeling... of being relied upon.
"Enkidu! We need your help!" Sophie cried, doing the same, raising her digivice. In that moment, Enkidu realized that now. This was his moment, this was his duty, this was the time he needed to break his limits and make a difference. With the light of both Sophie and Leith's digivices shining toward him, Enkidu reacted to it, embraced the power, and evolved further.
"Blackfilmon... digivolve to...!"
At once, he almost doubled in height. Crimson quills erupted all over his body. His muscles bulged, and weapons appeared on his fists and boots. This moment of crisis had triggered his next level.
"...BlackStefilmon!"
At once he proved his strength against Musyamon. He easily parried a blow from the swordsman with a swift punch. A second basic strike then made the digimon realize just how outmatched he was here, but he kept attacking with futility. Enkidu gave every opportunity for him to surrender, but he seemed to be physically incapable of doing so.
"I fear he's truly lost..." a Bokomon remarked, a tone of resignation in his voice. So it made Enkidu think that his only move from here would be to strike.
"Giga Crimson Dive!" he snarled, taking a leap into the air, glowing with red energy, then he twisted once, then landed. But the energy lingered. The crimson energy powered forward, spinning faster and faster, launching directly at Musyamon, piercing through him. Ultimately, the attack destroyed him, and the last remnants of the corruption lingered in his wake. Sophie weakly raised her digivice, and the last of the corruption was eliminated from the village.
"...You did it!" the Floramon cheered. "You saved us! Thank you!"
Sophie gave a weak grin to her partner. Lantis, still in his Spadamon form, returned the grin, and the two exchanged a hug of triumph.
But... that wasn't the only thing that happened in this moment. From the place where Musyamon had vanished, there was something down in the ground below that made it glow and rupture. Eventually, two digimentals appeared. One was gold lined with brown, the other black lined with gold. Both of them hovered at human height. Sophie looked at the, eyes open with wonder.
"Are these... digimentals?" she asked.
"They look like they are." Lantis answered, the Spadamon sheathing his sword. "Try it out, can you touch them?"
Sophie did so, and to her astonishment, both of the floating orbs glowed with light, then transformed into what appeared to be something like fireworks. They danced around the area for the moment, until they both landed within her D-Terminal. The final message was clear... this ordeal had been the price to pay for both of Sophie's digimentals. At least she thought, for the time being. With that, she looked to Leith.
"...Was your hunt for your digimentals like this, Leith?" she asked her partner's boyfriend, rather hoping that this was no more or less of an ordeal for her as it was for him.
Enkidu evolves to BlackStefilmon and uses Giga Crimson Dive against Musyamon.
Musyamon is destroyed.
The digimentals for Lantis's Armor Champion and Armor Ultimate appear as a result.

What? Even though the young man was trying to keep his head down, Enkidu's declaration of digivolution made him just curious enough to peer over, though he was still kneeling instead of standing. His digivice was shining, alright, but he had missed; it was Enkidu he was shining upon. However, this turned out to be a very fortunate mistake after all. Did- did I just do that? Undeniably, yes, he did, though not him alone. Noticing another beam, the young man followed it to Sophie. It was tempting to think it was actually all her, but then why was Leith's light shining on Enkidu at all? As Enkidu started turning the tables, the young man shouted, "Come on, man! You got this!" not necessarily because he believed with all his heart it but because he needed it to be true and, therefore, needed Enkidu to believe it so. It was.
The problem was that the bleeding heart just wouldn't strike the finishing blow. What was that about? "There's nothing we you can do! Just put him on the ground already!" Leith urged in the moment he realized the hostile simply wouldn't give. If Enkidu got soft, everyone was at risk! It didn't happen as soon as the exhausted young man would have liked, but apparently Enkidu did eventually get it. The young man had called for nonlethal subduing and was surprised that Enkidu went finished him off instead. He didn't get too broken up about it, though. He just let out a heavy breath of relief. As he sat down, the eggs were there. Two, too! Well, no, Leith didn't doubt for a second that ordeal was worth two or three or ten digimentals, even. He certainly had some hardships to earn them one at a time, though. "Well, first off, congratulations," was his prelude to answering Sophie's question. "And second off... Yes. Also, no. Kinda. I did almost get stranded drowned, buried, drowned again, drowned a third time, eaten, beaten, and incinerated - in that order by the way - for the sake of Friendship, Courage, Peace, and Fury. Good times." He obviously didn't mean that last part. "First time wading through a village infected with the Rage Virus from 28 Weeks Later, though. Fun new experience."
As Leith began to shuffle across the floor closer to Sophie and her Spadamon, he tried to look over her shoulder at her digivice to find out, "So, what special traits earned you these wonderful new treasures?"

Enkidu really wasn't sure what it was that helped him evolve here. Whether it was his own power, or assistance from Sophie and Leith's digivices, he just didn't know. But he did his best and acted how he thought Lantis would act, trying to spare the enemy as much as he could. But it was no use.
When the time came to act in response, with his limited knowledge of his new form, it turned out his attack had destroyed Musyamon. He was horrified for a moment, then realized that as long as he didn't absorb the data, Musyamon would hopefully be revived at the Village of Beginnings, now that it was separate from the corruption.
After the digimentals appeared and seemed to acknowledge Sophie as their owner, things began to relax. Enkidu stood to look out for any further threats, while Sophie spoke to Leith.
As Leith told of his ordeals, Lantis's eyes widened at how much he had suffered. He almost ran up to him to comfort him, yet realized that this was probably the first time he had interacted with Leith in his rookie form. Still though, his feelings to him hadn't changed. So instead, he walked up to him.
"Sorry to hear that you went through all that. I'm really glad you're still alive though." he said. "If I was there, I..." oh boy, he felt a little disappointed in himself that he hadn't been there through his suffering.
Supposing there was little more he could do about that though, he looked back up at Leith. "Anyway, I hope me being in this form isn't too strange for you... just I've used up too much energy to stay as Leomon." he explained. "I should be back to normal after a good meal and rest though..." he meant to finish his sentence there, but instead blurted out. "Unless you like this form too..." which made him blush and cover his mouth.
Sophie heard that, made a wry smile, then pretended she hadn't. Leith asked what the digimentals were, and she scanned their properties with her D-Terminal. "It says that the first one is the Digimental of Diligence, that'll allow Lan to evolve to LoaderLeomon." she began. "And the second one is the Digimental of Decisiveness, which will evolve him to KaiserLeomon." she looked to her partner. "Feel like trying them out, Lan? Or do you want to rest first?"
"Best rest, yeah." Lantis answered. Although how they would do that, they were unsure. They supposed that Leith had no energy left to evolve his partners so they could cross the sea again. They still had portals, but the villagers were eager to repay them.
"Please, feel free to rest here!" the Floramon said. "For what you did here, you can rest and eat here for as long as you need! Just... please pay mind to the fact that since most of us were unconscious for the past few weeks, we do need to get our lives back in order too."
"Fair enough." Sophie answered. "So guess that means we'll be staying the night here then?" she asked Leith and his partners.

"If you were there you would've been almost stranded, drowned, bur- well, you get it." Leith smiled weakly and shrugged. "Comes with the territory, right?" Leith was about to dismiss Lantis' embarrassment about his rookie form next by pointing out that of course as a digimon he has one. Then Lantis wanted to go and make it weird. The young man broke eye contact and stared off into one corner, hoping not to have to acknowledge that part in front of Sophie. "...I can still scratch your mane, right?" he asked as a hand reached out to do that.
Floramon saved him from having to get any more mushy in public with the offer to spend the night in the (formerly) corrupted village. "No, no, 'course you gotta do your life stuff. Probably got some dishes to wash, apologies to make, roofs to... roof. " Was Leith thrilled by the prospect of a night in an exotic island village with his best friends and boyfriend? Hell, no! The whole place just tried to end him! But it was probably more comfortable than the ocean, which he could no longer cross. So, like a gentleman, he instead decided to say, "We'd be honored. Thank you," with a rather out-of-character tone of formality.
Glancing back, he caught the sight of Veemon barely but successfully dragging Shoutmon's limp body outside the other house before falling on his own butt in the dirt. "Is he OK?"
"Well... no. But he's gonna be."
"Works for me. How 'bout you?"
"I'm fine!"
"Then stand up." It turned out Leith was right not to buy Veemon's bravado. The little blue digimon tried his best, but his legs weren't steady enough. "Alright, don't be stupid. We're doin' this another way." The young man didn't really think he had the strength to move Veemon either, at least not two minutes ago. But now that he had to, he could. He shuffled toward his digimon on his knees, slung Veemon's arms around his shoulders. Unfortunately, that was the easy part. The hard part was leaning back far enough to flatten his feet on the ground, then extend his knees to stand up again. It didn't work. "Nope, nope," he mumbled to himself after a few inches up, sinking back down. But on his second try, a few grunts were apparently enough to get Leith up and standing again even with Veemon clinging to his back. "Tables've turned, haven't they? You on my back?"
"Oh, stop." Veemon waved a hand, but he obviously wasn't mad.
"And as for you..." Well, Shoutmon couldn't whine about being transported in the V-Pet if he wasn't conscious through it. Maybe it would've been smart to digitize Veemon, too, but for once Leith didn't even consider the logical thing to do. "Alright. Agenda for the evening: food, beds, sleep. Objections?"

Lantis's blush intensified through his fur as Leith asked if he could still scratch his mane. It was a new experience, being the smaller of the two here, but, he didn't find anything he particularly disliked about it. "Yeah, you can." he said, leaning his head into Leith's hand, letting him pet him. Somehow it felt nice to be a rookie again, at least for a little while, seeing humans from a new angle like this.
Leith then accepted the arrangement, so they would spend the night here, then hopefully be refreshed in the morning to head back. Sophie reflected for a moment on what happened here. She had stuck out her head to the dangers of the digital world, and accepted the risks... and she had been rewarded with a lasting reward, at the price of horror and exhaustion.
However, she felt strengthened a little. Like her little brother, she had faced personal danger, responded to it, then acted decisively, not giving up even when she struggled to walk. While her body was spent, her mind felt... envigorated.
Also, it was a huge personal triumph against her inner demons that had been constantly eating at her from within. Her inaction at Scramble Crossing was due to her not having digimentals. Now she did. And if it ever happened again, it would be her and Lan facing that technology personally.
Further to that, Enkidu was feeling a sense of triumph as well. He could evolve to Ultimate now, and boy did that feel good. He had fought against danger and won.
"Guys..." she said to the others. "I think tomorrow I'll be ready to return to Earth and resume leading AEGIS. I... learned a lot today. And I think I've been moping around here enough. I'm ready to return to my responsibilities." "Alright, Sophie, glad to hear." Lantis replied. But they both looked concerned at Veemon and Shoutmon's condition, the dragons were so exhausted they could barely move. It was here that Enkidu thought it would only be dutiful of him to offer his assistance.
"Here, I'll help you guys." he said, offering to assist Leith and Veemon in walking. Lantis meanwhile was strong enough to support Sophie in this, since he had de-digivolved before expending all of his reserve energy.
"Sounds good to me." Sophie agreed with Leith's agenda, then they would be led to the village tavern. A large free meal awaited them, followed by two free bedrooms for them to rest. That'd do nicely.
