"Of course I was. I didn't spend my first many years on this world just doing nothing. Though, that Lord is long dead, thanks to a particular gnat of a Tactimon. So, I suppose I'm a terrible helper. Certainly no hero, however." The alien noted. Alouette meanwhile gave nods all around.
"Alrighty, check out's at eleven in the morning. Please, do rest well! You did volunteer to deal with a right pain in the ass, after all." The Sistermon stated with some amount of cheer and sass in her demeanor. The Sistermon was quite diligently filling out the ledger accordingly.
Mao, meanwhile, was being faced with a humorous dilemma. People fighting to share a room with her. While Kissu was a nice digimon (that also reminded her of her own granny), Tsu had a fair point. She barely had any human friends here herself, and Kissu's question could definitely be answered the next morning. "I think you're all really nice, but...Uh. I'm in the same boat as Tsu-chan here."
She wasn't really arguing with Tsu's bossiness, either. But, she did glance down at the woman's hand. Alouette meanwhile lifted her trident with one hand and simply tapped it on the ground. A pair of keys would manifest at her counter. "Here you go." She hadn't even lifted her gaze up from the book! "Numbers are on the keys, so don't lose them."
Mao was quiet as she and Tsu ascended the stairs, but she soon enough at least said something. "...I'm kind of in the same boat as you. Except I don't really have much in the way of friends in general. I haven't shared a room with anyone before, though. Or stayed at an inn. Really, this is a lot of firsts for me."

Even if Vemmon’s poor explanation had raised more questions rather than answering any, Tsukiko had grabbed Alouette’s keys and dragged Mao to their bedroom, so the interrogation regarding the alien’s past would have to wait.
“Good night, my love. I would say goodbye to you, but I’ll probably see you in my dreams in just a matter of minutes.” Mitsuharu bowed to the Sistermon, while Kissu just sighed and took one of the two sets of keys remaining on the counter.
Ramma did the same, as he and Pike went up. The keys that belonged to each pair of digimon had the numbers ‘308’ and ‘309’ engraved on them. As expected, their rooms were next to each other.
On their side, Tsukiko and Mao had gone up to the fourth floor. This one seemed to be the last floor. It had a lot fewer rooms than the ones below. In case they needed privacy, they got it. The leader of the Ashikagas simply put the key into the lock, twisted it and turned the knob, while she heard Mao speak. It was… a room. Simple. Comfy. Clean.
“Well… I don’t have that many friends either. I recently moved into Shibuya, so I hadn’t had the time to really make any friends around there.” She clarified. “And… since I got into this world, it’s just been Mitsuharu and me. And then Kissu, of course.” The girl tossed her backpack into one of the beds and took a seat, starting to get rid of her boots.
She then raised her gaze, thinking about one of Mao’s last statements. “I think I hadn’t ever shared a room with anyone before, now that you mention it. I mean, other than a certain boyfriend I once had.” Tsukiko showed a tender smile to her peer. “But I’m glad you picked me for sharing this one.”
As she got rid of her jacket and tossed it to a side, Tsukiko stood up, walking barefoot over the floor to look by the window. The town looked… exactly the same as when they entered. Uh. All of this having no sunlight to tell what time of the day it was, was… odd.
Tsukiko put both hands on her back as she stretched. Boy, was she exhausted. Her blue eyes then trailed off below to her own tank-top. Then they went to Mao.
“That stupid robot called them meatbags…” She muttered, puffing up her cheeks. A brief silence ensued. “You… don’t think they’re that big, do you?”

"Aww. Sweet dreams, young samurai. May you go on to slay an unspeakable evil!" Alouette gave a fond farewell to the group as they moved up to go rest. They were going to need it. They were going to need all the sleep they could get.
Mao hadn't been expecting much from the room she was staying in. It was simple. Clean. Comfortable. Ideal to stay the night in. She moved to the bed that didn't have Tsu's backpack immediately occupying it, and took a seat to listen to the lady clarify. "You too, huh? I...Uh. I moved in with my sister right after I graduated high school. From Kumagaya. Not really that different here than it is over there--No friends. Just me and Yui." A pause. Should she? Well, she did trust Tsu...
"No real friends here, though. I worked with a group for a mission but that's just about it. It's just been me and Vemmon. Honestly, I'm more surprised you picked me. So...Thanks for that, Tsu-chan." She returned that smile with one of her own. You know, she should probably get ready to sleep. She got busy sliding off her jacket and taking off her shoes, before Tsukiko asked her a pretty odd question.
It took Mao a moment to realize what Tsukiko meant as she whirled around to face her. What had happened earlier with the Styx unit. The one that Number 2 clobbered. Oookay, how does she expect me to answer that?
Mao's eyes drifted down to Tsu's tanktop for all of three seconds before she looked her in the eyes again. She was silent for that time, and she seemed a bit nervous to speak. "Um...No. H-Honestly they're okay as is? S-Sorry, I'm...not good with these kinds of questions. H-Honestly, I'm actually kind of jealous, you have a really nice figure! A-And you're way cuter than me, to boot!"
This was embarrassing. And Mao felt like she might regret saying that.

Both pairs of digimon had gone into their own rooms. After hearing Alouette’s words, Mitsuharu would definitely dream he was slaying a certain cat and saving the Sistermon.
Inside Room 402, on the fourth floor, Tsukiko’s heart was melting. Mao had an adorable side! The words she had said had got to her, and she could definitely relate to them. “Is that so?” Tsukiko took a seat next to the orange-haired girl, wrapping the girl’s right hand around her two own hands. “That means we found each other at the right time, then!” Who knew, maybe she had something to be grateful regarding Lego. After all, he was the one who made them find each other.
“It also means we can totally hang out some day at the Human World!” Her blue eyes were glimmering out of pure excitement. It was also nice she knew a little more about Mao now, so she decided to share some information about herself. “I was born in Arakawa, until I graduated from college. Then I moved by myself to Shibuya to work. Even if it’s not that far away from my parent's house, none of my friends ever go there, so… it’s a bit lonely.” But now she had Mao. What could be better than a friendship based on saving each other’s life?
Of course, a friendship where you answer the difficult questions. Was Mao actually… checking her out before answering?
Tsukiko’s mouth wrinkled as she heard the girl speak. It was a good answer, she guessed? They were definitely not that big or droopy to be called ‘meatbags’ right? However, what definitely got the pink haired girl’s attention was the last part of her comment.
“What in the world are you talking about? You’re extremely cute!” She put both hands in Mao’s cheeks and pressed them a little. “Look at you. I love your hair, you have a very unique style and your eyes are very pretty.” She wasn’t just saying this, she meant it. She felt honestly bad for Mao saying she was jealous of her, especially coming from a girl who was this incredibly cute. “Wait…” She then blinked twice. Something about Mao’s features definitely caught her attention.
“… how old are you?”

"Mmhmm. I...guess us meeting was a great coincidence, huh?" Mao managed a smile at the lady before she put her hand atop one of Tsu's. She hadn't quite considered the possibility of them hanging out in the real world, but...It was not unwelcome. Friends were, after all, alien to Mao.
In fact, she seemed pretty happy about the possibility! "Arakawa..." She repeated to herself. "Oh, near the river! I'm...uh. I'm gonna get started with studying soon. Hopefully I don't mess it up. I'm sorry that it's lonely, though."
Mao felt like she had to actually check Tsu out now that she wasn't in a pink poofy dress to accurately answer the question. It didn't stop the question from feeling the slightest bit uncomfortable. However! Mao was taken completely by surprise when Tsu GRABBED HER CHEEKS AND PRESSED THEM. Seriously, she even made a noise that some might actually consider adorable when she did that.
"You really mean that...?" She had only dyed her hair orange because she thought it'd look nice. The rest of her style...well, it could basically be described in the same way. She picked it up along the way. "Oh, um. I'm 18. Graduated high school last year. You...know you're not supposed to ask a lady her age, right? Or is that just for boys...?" Wait. "...Not that I mind! Um, you're cool!"

Taking into consideration the time she had known her, it didn’t seem like Mao Kita smiled a lot to Tsukiko. However, when she did… she looked very endearing.
“I’m sure you won’t.” The pink-haired girl shook her head, dismissing Mao’s worries. “What do you want to study?” She asked. This was a good time as any to know more about her partner, right?
The little squeal that escaped Mao when Tsukiko grabbed her only proved her point further. She was extremely cute.
“Of course I mean it! You look beautiful. I can’t believe no one has ever told you that.” Again, the blue-eyed wrinkled her mouth, looking at her peer. That wasn’t fair. People should be telling that to this girl all the time. “Mao~ru, you might be hanging with the wrong people.” Well, according to what she had said, she wasn’t really ‘hanging’ with anyone. “We should remain close to each other then.” A wide grin graced Tsukiko’s face.
“W-Wait! I shouldn’t?” It wasn’t like Tsukiko was an expert regarding rules of social interactions, but she knew her stuff. However, she was aware that more often than not she got carried away and forgot those. “I’m sure that only counts if you’re actually old! We’re both young and pretty.” She waved her pink hair to a side to then let out a bit of a snicker. “You, especially. Your features are super delicate and you look super young.” She pointed out.
Suddenly, a yawn escaped Tsukiko. She immediately took her right hand to her mouth to cover it. She was totally exhausted. “I guess that I’m more tired than I thought.” She confessed. Her blue eyes went to a door, different than the one they entered through. “I think I need a bath.” After standing up, she took some steps towards the door, opening to actually confirm it was a bathroom.
“This is huge!” The echo could probably be heard from where Mao was sitting. It was a very roomy bathroom. “Do you want to go first or should I…?” Tsukiko shifted her gaze towards her friend. It was probably time to sleep soon anyway, so they might as well take a bath.

"Software engineering. It's...not something easy, I think, but I do know my way around a computer. Plus, I was kind of more drawn towards the sciences in school." ...Mao Kita sucked at small talk.
But, as unbelievable as her words were? They were true. "I can't hang with the wrong people if I don't hang with anyone, though..." She smirked, before it just...faded. "...I mean, that's the case now, but back when I lived in Kumagaya...Yeah, maybe I did. It's just...when you get called a freak enough times, there's a part of you that wonders if they're right." She took a pause with her words before she smiled at Tsukiko. "I'd...I'd like that. And...I'm not sure? It makes sense that it'd only be for if you're old..."
Did she really look young, though? "...Would you believe me if I told you I get that a lot?" She didn't, but she wondered what Tsukiko's reaction to that would be. Nonetheless, Mao caught that yawn. It hit her then that she had...been through quite a long day. And a bath and sleep were very delectable prizes right now.
She stood up and followed Tsukiko into the bathroom after she heard that echo, before taking a peek in there. "...It's HUGE. I call going first! Unless you want to go first, um. I can wait."

“Wow!” Her eyes widening up, Tsukiko stared at Mao from the door of the bathroom. “That must mean you’re super smart!” The pink-haired girl herself was not… very good at dealing with machines. It was great to have an engineer with them. Considering Tsukiko could sell water to a whale, Mitsuharu was an amazing fighter and Kissu a walking encyclopedia, it could be said their set of skills combined would be more than good enough to achieve amazing things. Maybe even… form a team?
The blue-eyed train of thoughts was interrupted by Mao’s comment. She had been called a freak, huh? That sounded so sad, and somewhat… relatable.
“You do, huh? Well, I’m not surprised.” Tsukiko’s tone of voice had gotten a bit sad and, even if she was keeping up with the conversation, that thing about people being mean to her friend felt… not good.
Mao had stood up to check the bathroom for herself. It was huge.
“N-No. You can go first. It’s fine.” Hmmm… what could work to get rid of this feeling of sadness? Maybe…
Tsukiko wrapped her arms around Mao and gave her a very tight hug. “I am…” This was a bit silly, she knew. But she would feel bad if she didn’t do it. “… I am sorry people called you those things before! You will never be treated like that by me or my clan!” She blurted out loudly. Then she actually noticed something. The reason why this ‘comforting hug’ could not be working so well…
“… I am… sure this would work better if you weren’t taller than me.”
The pink-haired sweatdropped. Yes. Being shorter than someone was a problem when you tried to comfort that someone with a hug. Right now, it seemed as if she was the one being comforted by Mao.
… Maybe Mao should just go and take that bath before this turned even more awkward. If that was possible.

"I guess. I mean, I'm a little smarter than I look. Or, at least I like to think that way." Mao uttered as she proceeded towards the bathroom, before she snickered at Tsu. "...I actually don't, but...Thanks."
Perhaps such a union of minds would make a fantastic team. Yet, there were bigger fish to fry. Mao might be a little bit naive, but she wasn't...daft. She noticed that her one friend in this world sounded sad. Not...sad sad but a touch sad, if that made sense.
Mao had been about to thank Tsukiko before she felt a pair of arms wrap around her and she heard the girl declare something. That she wouldn't be treated that way by the Ashikagas. Yet...This was a hug. Something that was so rare that it was...alien to Mao, ironically enough. You wield the spirit of the alien, yet the most humane display of affection is alien to you.
It didn't help that she was taller than Tsu, either. "...N-No, it's...It's fine..." There was one way to respond to this, though. Mao hugged Tsu right back. It was quick, and it was sweet, but the girl seemed a little bit embarrassed. And quiet. The question to be asked here was, did Tsukiko just have her attempts at comfort turned around on her...?

Well, even if the execution had not been perfect and Tsukiko's size hadn’t actually helped her intentions, it seemed like the comforting hug had been a success… kind of? Mao had reciprocated the hug, which seemed like something she wasn’t at all used to doing. In all honesty, it had been a while since Tsukiko had hugged someone, too.
Tsukiko undid the hug and looked at Mao. The Ashikaga seemed to be doing a lot better. That sad expression Mao had previously spotted was now completely off Tsukiko's face.“I just needed to get that out of my chest. I know how it’s like when people are mean and I definitely wouldn’t want you to believe any of those things they said.” She showed a smirk to the girl with glasses. “From now on, I’ll be the number one fan of your beauty, Mao~ru, just to remind you how pretty you are every day.”
And before Mao could dismiss her intentions…
“And I won’t get a 'no' for an answer! So go shower right now so we can sleep soon!” The pink haired girl placed herself behind Mao and pushed her slowly inside the bathroom.
While Mao was in there, Tsukiko just stretched on top of her bed, doing her best to not fall asleep. Once Mao came out, Tsukiko’s blue eyes went to her friend.
“So? How was it? Please tell me there is hot water in there!”
It was her turn now, after all.

That made Mao feel a bit better. Just before Tsukiko undid the hug, Mao found herself squeezing the girl like a teddy bear. For how unused she was to this sort of thing? She felt like she did okay as she released the poor (around 3 inches shorter) woman from that embarrassment of a hug that Mao gave her.
"I put them behind me as fast as I could, really. Um...Thank you, Tsu-chan. Really." Mao was visibly restraining herself from going to hug Tsukiko again. Seriously, it looked like she was about to get kind of emotional at that. Thankfully, Tsukiko had just pushed her into the bathroom.
Well, that just left her with one thing to do. Shower. The bane of every ne--...Wait, no, she wasn't one of those anymore. Either way, Mao made sure to be efficient when using the shower. Though she was pretty certain there was hot water for days given the usual residents were Digimon...Those don't usually shower, right?
...That's a terrible thought. Once she finished up and came out, she glanced towards Tsu. "No, it's actually ice cold." A pause. "...I'm joking, there's enough hot water that I'm sure you could turn it all the way up and it'd be boiling. I...uh. Made sure to not take too long for that reason."
The girl went quiet for a few seconds. "...You didn't hear anything, did you?" ......Oh, right. Something Tsukiko might have learned in the past 10 or so minutes? Mao Kita liked to sing in the shower. Make of that what one will.

Mao Kita was… something else. Credits had to be given to Ramma, who was the first to actually realize the merging of different attitudes that made a living inside of this girl. It was now Tsukiko who was just staring at her, trying to comprehend her own… magnificence. The orange-haired girl showed a mixture of shyness, attitude, bravery and pure… randomness, that was definitely amusing to watch as they unfolded in each of their terrains to subdue the personality of a girl who was all of those things and at the same time none of those things at all.
All of this realization just made Tsukiko… laugh. It made her laugh a lot.
“You were --- singing--- weren’t you?” She even went to grab her belly as she rolled on her bed. “At first--- I thought it came from another room!” She kept laughing out loud, having trouble to build full sentences. “God. You’re so funny!” After at least a full minute of laughter, the pink-haired girl attempted to calm down.
For Mao, it should be obvious Tsukiko was not trying to laugh at her, but actually with her. She was not mocking Mao, she just found her extremely amusing. Probably the funniest person she had ever met. Mainly, because of that syncretism of attitudes and characteristics that just formed who she was. It was both endearing and funny in equal quantities.
“I think it was some great singing.” Tsukiko stated, walking towards Mao, still showing a wide smile her burst of laughter had left behind.
Trying to leave that behind (even if the thought would remain in her head and make her snicker now and then), the blue-eyed walked into the bathroom. “Thanks for saving me some hot water.” She playfully winked at Mao. “I usually take my time so If you’re asleep by the time I come out, I hope you have sweet dreams.” The girl closed the door and started undressing. "They probably won't be as sweet as you are, though."
As soon as the water made contact with her body, Tsukiko let out a moan of pleasure. Boy, did she need this? Getting trapped inside a videogame and having to look for a way out of an underground society. The whole day had just been too long. It needed to end, now.
After around 15 minutes under that hot stream of water, the girl came out, wearing a white tank top and pink shorts as a pajama, barefoot. Would Mao be asleep by now, or would Tsukiko find out her friend was still awake?

Mao was of the impression that maybe she should not have said such a thing. The primary reasoning behind this was that it not only gave away that she was behind the singing, but also? She sang in the shower. Seriously, that had to be embarrassing. Yet...What was strange was...
Tsu wasn't laughing at her. She wasn't laughing at her at all, no. She was having one hell of a giggle, but it...wasn't mocking her. As obvious as it had been, it was odd to Mao. The pinkette thought she was funny, to boot! That...That made Mao smile. "I...Um. Thank you, Tsu." Thank you so much. Again. Mao was barely managing to restrain herself from hugging Tsukiko right then and there.
"I'll keep that in mind, so...have fun in ther--..." Okay, that final comment actually took her off guard. Like, speechless and cheeks flushed off-guard. Mao had some time, so she just...went to her own bed and got under the covers. And yet...She couldn't sleep. She kept opening her eyes.
Fifteen minutes later and Mao still hadn't been able to fall asleep. She took one look at Tsukiko and sighed. "Can't tell how sweet the dreams are because I can't sleep." ...She sounded a bit disappointed at that.

Looking a bit pensive, Tsukiko's face wrinkled. Her blue eyes went from Mao to the window she had previously seen through when they arrived at the bedroom. "I guess it makes sense. Down here you don't know when it's nighttime or daytime. It's like being in permanent jetlag." The drapes were completely shut but... it still didn't quite feel like nighttime. Right next to the window, affixed to the wall, a device raised her attention. It looked like a volume gauge stuck to the surface. She could screw in the small 'wheel', twining it left or right. When she did it clockwise, the room just got brighter. However, when she did it anti-clockwise... the whole room just turned a lot darker!
"Mao~ru..." Tsukiko's voice could be heard, even if Mao probably couldn't see her anymore. "... this is amazing. It's perfect for sleeping!" If it was possible to even tell, it sounded like the shorter girl was smiling. "Do you think you'll be able to sleep now?"
The sound of Tsukiko clumsily moving towards her bed showed the girl had trouble to even walk with this amount of darkness. Of course, she could have used her digivice, but she had left that inside her backpack, which was on top of the bed. The blue-eyed got beneath the sheets and adressed Mao again.
"If you still can't sleep just... tell me, okay?" Tsukiko would wait for Mao's answer and then, if everything was settled, she would slowly start falling asleep. In her case, at least, now that she had the proper illumination (almost none), it would prove to be fairly easy. After all, she was completely exhausted.
Hopefully, the day was over.
... even if it was hard to asses when a day ended and another one started down there.

"That's...basically the best way to describe it." Mao noted, tossing and turning some in her bed, and staring towards the window. She wasn't expecting Tsu messing with whatever that was on the wall to just turn the whole room black. "...Huh, I...Um. I didn't know that was there." She admitted.
"It -is- pretty neat, isn't it? I might be able to sleep now, but...Yeah. I'll let you know if I can't." She paused. "I...mean, I'd feel bad about waking you up, but if you say I can then...I will if things come to that. If that makes sense..." Mao kept speaking before she trailed off, and her eyes just...shut.
Mao Kita slept like a rock. Her day was over, and even though she sleep-talked some? She otherwise was a good sleeper.
Of course, this didn't mean the days of some other Digimon ended with Mao's...
