There was no talking Aurelia out of this. They were going to have to fight someone today! Metaphorical butterflies flapped around in the human's stomach as she sat on a bench awaiting their opponent. Their sparring area was right before her, and the glowing lines of light indicating the boundary seemed so imposing to Sunny. Holding her digivice in her hands the woman sighed and leaned back against the bench.
'Well, if it's the only way,' lamented Sunny as she stared up at the sky with a conflicted expression.
'I'm not trying to hurt you,' spoke Aurelia into her thoughts as the spirit manifested on the bench next to the human. 'I just want you to understand who I am.'
"Is it.. scary? Fighting, I mean."
"..it can be. It will hurt if we make mistakes. However, what is life without challenge? This will be good training for us, too. We're still moving out of synch sometimes." Looking down at her transparent hands the spirit frowned. It really was strange, sharing a body with another consciousness.
"So, who did take you up on your offer, anyways?" Looking around the coliseum Sunny tried to guess who they'd be sparring with today. She hoped it wasn't the large dinosaur-looking digimon, or that giant winged bug-looking one idling nearby.

Little did the wielder and her wise rabbit spirit realize that in offering the challenger the offer they did, they were unleashing a grand and unspeakable horror upon those in the colosseum. What emerged from the crowd and hopped onto the bench was...A tiny rabbit. She probably came up to Sunny's knee.
The rabbit wore a earthy scarf, and headphones that didn't seem to go over her big ol' ears. She hopped onto the bench and waited a few seconds, before she realized people were next to her. "...Oh, hey, you're the person I'm supposed to spar with, right? Ummm...Hi, I'm Coolmon!"
Was this seriously the one who took Aurelia's offer up? She looked like she couldn't hurt a fly!
The sudden presence of another person hopping onto the bench startled the woman, making her flinch as she turned to see who had joined Aurelia and herself. As with a lot of her recent encounters with new digimon she didn't know what to think at first. The rabbit-looking creature looked far too innocent to be in a fighting arena to begin with. But then the digimon introduced herself, saying that she would be sparring with them! Sunny tilted her head slightly, but then she smiled in a fawning manner.
"Hello Coolmon! I'm Sunny, and this is Aurelia, my spirit partner. I think you might have us confused with someone else, though? This is a pretty dangerous place, and I don't think I could ever bring myself to spar with someone as cute as you!" The human then reached out to the Cutemon. If allowed to, Sunny would pick her up and hug the pink digimon!
Still sitting down on the other side of Sunny, Aurelia watched with a slight cringe at her partner's hands on affection. Even if she too thought Coolmon was more cute than cool, the Lunamon knew better than to assume all rookie level digimon had the mindset of a child. And that's what Sunny's perspective seemed to be at the moment.
"Sunny, stop that. She really is our sparring partner for today! Sorry, Coolmon! She's just.. really friendly..."

While Coolmon was not at all enthused at being called cute, her name was Coolmon, after all...She didn't resist being picked up and hugged. Probably because she needed that after the past few days. "Oh, three things, the Lunamon's right. I'm your sparring partner. Two, I'm not cute, I'm cool, but...Thank you."
Compliments were compliments. Coolmon couldn't change that. "I've been having a rough few weeks and I don't know who to talk to about those, so I figured I'd try doing some odd jobs to go move someplace. Plus, your friend kind of reminds me of someone. Like my mom or something."
Actually, heck, they both kind of reminded her of mom. Fuzzy a memory as she was. "Friendly's not bad, though. Maybe in other places it might be but not to me."
The human paused in her gushing as it was confirmed that Coolmon was their sparring partner for today. That didn't mean she'd release the Cutemon from her affectionate embrace, though. In fact Sunny gave the digimon a reassuring squeeze when she heard that their new friend was having a rough go of things recently. She didn't have time to offer further condolences, especially after Coolmon said Aurelia reminded her of her mother.
"Really?" questioned Sunny as she turned a skeptical look down to the spirit. Motherly wasn't a term that jumped out at her when she thought of Aurelia, but they were still getting to know each other.
Aurelia seemed a little taken aback by the remark, staring at Coolmon in honest surprise. When she saw the look Sunny gave her the Lunamon scoffed.
"Don't look at me like that, Sunny. I may be strict but that doesn't mean I don't care," spoke Aurelia with a sigh. She looked back to Coolmon next. "I'm sorry to hear that you've fallen upon hard times lately. We're not rich ourselves, but if there's something we can do for you once we're done here, don't hesitate to ask."
"What Aurelia means to say is threefold," cut in the human with a warm smile, copying Coolmon's list of things. She'd lightly pet the Cutemon's head, although she was careful to not knock her headphones off. "One: we're glad and honored to have you train with us today! Two: you're super mega cool with that nice scarf and headphones! Three: I'm sure your mother would be really proud of you, being so nice, and cool as you are!"
"Yeah, that," agreed the Lunamon, even if she wanted to groan at her partner's super mega pun.
"Us long ears have to stick together!" cheered Sunny as she held up a hand to high five Coolmon, grinning as she did so.

"Yeah. I don't...remember a lot but the way you're kind of strict reminds me of her. I wanna meet her again someday. Um, you don't need to do anything for me, but thank you for the offer. Uhhh...Maybe we could get lunch? That'd be cool."
Coolmon's expression slowly lit up at Sunny's words. She gave a few nods before she gave Sunny that high five she was asking for! "Yeah!" Did she realize the pun? Not really. That, or she actually liked it, considering she had a wide grin on her face!
"Anyways, should we get started? Uh...Does Sunny even know how to fight in her spirit-y form? Like...Um...Hm. I guess what I'm asking is...How much fighting does the actual person doing the fighting know?"
