"Mechanic?" He'd ask. "Oh geez, you must real smart then eh? I heard it takes a lot to get into a job like that! Good on ya sir!" He'd say with a smile. Tommis had, never been real good with math he'd admit, but it was cool to here someone else's experiences in a different job! "I lived a simple life like yourself, a simple country lad in Texas with my sister and my pa on a simple farm out in the middle, of uh, well nowhere." He'd laugh, a goofy grin on his face.
"Never really lived in Japan well, period, never really know what a Japanese farm would look like but, it'd probably be nice." He'd nod. "A lot less hot I'm guessing and rice, is a major food source here, so lots of that, way more then america probably." He guessed. "Yet yeah, I might give that a go, get some fresh air and maybe a clearer mind from all this..." He paused for a second, trying to collect his thoughts. His looked puzzled for a moment but snapped back into a happier tone rather quickly. "...Noise... I guess!"
He was still seemly a bit fidgety if anything seemly. But he was a tad stressed, he was normally much more, calm, but in a situation where he had little to no idea made him a bit uneasy. That and the fact he was a bit low on medication, something that made much more anxious the he usually was. He'd just sweat (or, well, a bit more then he usually did) and rub his palms together subtly, hoping Charles wouldn't really notice. This really wasn't his mess after all.
He seemed to calm, if a bit slightly by Charles and gave him a small smile. "...Thanks, sir, I really appreciate it, heh..."

"I suppose I do got some smarts in me, and I'm decently strong, too." Charles would muse with a chuckle, smiling right back. "Years of gripping wrenches and the what-not has left my hands decently stiff, though - I can't flatten them out quite like others do. Though then again, stiffness in general tends to come along when you get old like me, heh." To show Tommis, he'd raise one of his hands - and indeed, he seemed to have difficulty flattening/straightening his hand out. Instead, it seemed to more or less favor the slightly-curled default position that people's hands go into. "And Texas, you say? That's decently close to Tennessee, even if it's still quite a bit of a distance." Charles mused out loud, humming to himself for a second. "But I can see why you're still adjusting to the hustle and bustle of the city, then. What was it like, having a farm?"
Tommis' fidgeting didn't seem to pass by Charles, though. The older man would glance over to him to see the younger man's unease, rubbing his palms together... Frowning gently, Charles would sit back down next to Tommis - asking softly "If it's not my business, you're free to speak up - but are you doing alright, kiddo?" Charles figured quickly that Tommis had his own personal issues that he was dealing with, but he still wanted to extend an offer for help if the other needed it.
It seemed that his reassurances helped though, at the very least - which would draw a smile from Charles as well. "It's the least I could do for a nice young man like you - I certainly know how it feels to be lost someplace unfamiliar, and a strange occurrence like this definitely doesn't help." He'd respond gently, craning his head to glance out the window, noting that the train was beginning to slow down as it'd begin coming into station. He could hear that same announcer voice over the intercom as the train would, slowly, come to a stop - though he would be puzzled at what the voice would announce.
"Welcome to Terminus City."
With that, the doors out of the train would slowly open with a low hissss, to let Charles and Tommis off... The older man would think a few seconds, wondering whether they shouldn't wait for a next stop - but the voice wouldn't announce any next stops, only that they had arrived at a... Terminus City, wherever that was. It certainly wasn't a city he had ever heard of. Slowly, he would stand once more, before glancing back to Tommis, "Doesn't sound like the train's going to make another stop anytime soon... I suppose we should ask around some, then, and see if there'll be a train going back the other way..."
