Usako was, at the moment, in a nearby lab, in her natural environment: surrounded by books, laptops, external hard-drives, and discarded packages of Iron Filings Ramen and Strawberry-Verdigris Mochi. The Calcumon was still working hard to restore the network and database of the library to its former glory after the fight with K took a metaphorical sledgehammer to it. While it should not be possible for a robot to have eyebags, Usako somehow managed it. The poor robot was overworked and jaded, and no amount of kindness from Yukiko, Ayumi and the other Field Club members could change that anytime soon. It would be hard for the little mermaid to get her to ship -anything-!

It took Nereid a bit of time before she figured that the lab assistant would in fact be in her natural environment, that being the laboratory proper. So, when she actually ventured towards it, the clam...hesitated. Did she want to actually disturb the doctor and risk being yelled at?
Truth be told, Nereid actually didn't like that. Granted, nobody's done that to her yet, but from what Titania told her, it wasn't a pleasant experience. Still, everybody deserved some rest at some point, or relaxation. Perhaps the Calcumon was no different. Nereid gently knocked on the wall on the outside of the lab she was certain the rabbot was in. "Miss Usako? May I come in?" She called out.
Here's hoping she didn't accidentally set off a bomb.

Usako cringed as Nereid knocked. Ugh, great, more distractions. She wanted to yell, but felt that the young Nereid was probably too naive to realize she was being a bother. So she just groaned bitterly. "Yes, do come in." The lab was the grand Marine Biology labs, once a sight to behold, countless tanks both large and small lining the walls, with equipment to study all the watery beings. After k's little rampage, most tanks were destroyed, laying barren and dry, with burst pipes and busted equipment still lingering among the broken glass in some corners. Usako was sitting next to one of the recently repaired and refilled tanks, which were already occupied by some strange, worm-like thing. Usako gave the Syakomon a tired look. "What do you want from me? I am very busy."

Nereid quietly slid in after she took a moment to behold the recovering spectacle that the lab was. It was coming along quite well! The Syakomon felt like she should be quick with talking. Like her presence was a damper of sorts. Sure, that may have been a little illogical to think but the mere possibility was still existent. Nereid slid towards Usako and her shell flipped open to reveal the little green creature.
"Um...Well, my moms are on a date and there's barely anyone else in the library...And I realized I don't really know you too well, despite considering you family, so I thought I'd drop by to keep you company. And try getting to know you a bit better. You work hard a lot, and I can't imagine it's fun being alone while doing this stuff..."
...Gosh, she really did feel like a bother right now.

Usako gave the Syakomon gave her a very weary look. She sighed, and rubbed her temples with her ear-arms. "I appreciate the sentiment, young Nereid. But I cannot possibly spare *any* time to have fun. I am responsible for this library, and a stint with the Professor's wife has left it quite in disarray. We are only at 35% of the original integrity of the building and network, and I cannot rest until it is back to its former glory." Usako wasn't mad at Nereid, that much was clear, but she also seemed rather resigned to her work to even consider the possibility of having fun!

"Awww...Um. Not even a second?" Nereid inquired, but she quickly figured that the answer to that was no, not even a second. No, this wouldn't do. She had to do something to make this day special for Usako--That was why she had come down here in the first place.
How would she do that? "...Is there anything I can do to help you? Please?" Nereid may have been but a clam, but she was at least sure there was some way she could actually help Usako with her work, no matter how arduous it was. She was at least resourceful, that could definitely help with fixing things up, right?

Usako blinked. Ah yes, help. Everyone in this library offered their help to her, even the Professor. She appreciated that everyone was so eager to lessen her work load, but the truth was most of this work was beyond the capabilities of most club members, safe for Miss Sakata and the Professor. Still, the innocent enthusiasm of the clam did not leave Usako unaffected. She sighed again. "If you insist on helping me, I would appreciate it if you could sweep up the glass shards belonging to the aquarium tanks, and pile them up so I can repair the tanks. Your shell should protect you from the sharp glass."

Nereid did not really have the knowledge that this stuff was kind of beyond her. It probably wouldn't have stopped her from insisting that she provide help in some way. "Not only that, but my mom taught me something just for this! Um...Watch!" And with that, Nereid...slid away! It was only for a few seconds, but the clam slid right back to where she was, having fetched a (appropriately sized) broom from a closet.
Interestingly, much like Mizu would use utensils, she was holding a big part of the broom with her mouth. And only her mouth. It was a bit inconvenient, but it would suffice in the task of cleaning up the glass shards and putting them in a pile. "Ish thish good enough, Missh Ushako?"

Usako's heavy, weary eyelids blinked. A...broom? How...antiquated. Still, the overworked bunny managed the tiniest of smiles at this enthusiasm. "Yes, this should do. Just be careful not to hurt yourself. The shards have unique code in them that matches the tank they belonged to. Try to bruch each shard together so they all glow in the same colour. I'll run the code that activates the glow." The bun's eyes flashed in a fast succession, and the dark corners of the lab were filled with a warm, colourful glow of many hues. Each broken tank now glowed in its own colour, and each shard glowed in a colour corresponding to one of the tanks. "Just sweep them together, that should make it much easier to reassemble each tank."

There was a particular saying to be beheld here, that which isn't broken should not be fixed. Antiquated as the broom was, it had a singular purpose to fulfill and this Syakomon was DETERMINED to be helpful and fulfill this purpose. Granted, she had to pause before she began to listen to Usako's directions.
Then she glanced towards the shards, which now glowed to indicate what went where. And it also made something quite apparent--She had a lot of work to do. Wielding the broom like a oversized brush, the Syakomon got to work, sweeping glass into piles as well as she could, and taking care to be organized with how she bunched each shard.
Naturally, though, this meant that Nereid was going to take a while here. Would Usako approve?

The Calcumon frowned. Using such an antiquated tool, the girl would of course take a long while to finish her job. Why would she use a simple broom? She sighed, and hopped over to the Syakomon. "I appreciate your enthusiasm, Miss Nereid, but using such an antiquated tool, it would take you approximately 29 hours, 35 minutes and 22 seconds to finish the task I have given you. Why don't you use a more modern tool? I have a sweep bot in the broom closet, all you need to do is to turn it on and then let it do the sweeping for you."

All things considered, Nereid was actually having fun sweeping everything up, even if it would take that long. So when Usako stopped her and told her to use something a little more modern, she sort of deflated some. "Oh. Um, if you say so." The Syakomon stated, ceasing her sweeping immediately, before she went to go check the broom closet.
...It should be noted that she took the broom with her, mostly to go put it back and swap it out for the bot. Speaking of, when she found the bot, assuming it was easy to find, she'd push it out of the closet and look for an on button before slapping the bot on and waiting for it to do it's job!

The robot resembled a large roomba with bunny ears and eyes. When it turned on, its eyes flickered, as if it was blinking. It turned around, and regarded Nereid. Its eyes turned square and green, and green lines ran over Nereid's body. "USER NOT IDENTIFIED. PLEASE REGISTER. STATE YOUR NAME TO USE ROOMBOT 3400." Oh dear, it seems this robot had some form of AI, and required Nereid to register within its interface. Usako herself was already back at her work place, letting Nereid figure this out herself. She was busy, and this kid seemed bright enough to get it on her own.

Nereid took a moment to realize what was going on. This must be one of the more sophisticated pieces of technology around in the Library, so it'd make sense that it kept people in a database of sorts. Luckily, she was smarter than the average clam. "Nereid!" The Syakomon chirped!
And before she forgot, "Register me as most gorgeous clam in the sea, too!" Yes, this was entirely serious. Otherwise, she just stood there, waiting for the Roombot to do what she turned it on for. "Hey, Usako, you didn't tell me the sweeperbot had a whole AI and a user bank in it! That's cool!"

Roombot made beeping sounds as it registered Nereid. "USER SUCCESSFULLY REGISTERED. HELLO, NEREID. HELLO, MOST GORGEOUS CLAM IN THE SEA. DO YOU WANT THIS UNIT TO WORK ON ITS OWN, OR DO YOU WANT TO GUIDE THIS UNIT?"
Usako looked up from her work, and managed a little smile. "I don't believe in machines that are just tools. I make machines that can decide for themselves whether they want to be tools or not. That's why I give them AI, and let them decide their own destiny. Roombot fortunately enjoys their work." She then went back to her work. She was confident that Roombot could help Nereid clean.
